[Graded]Blending In Takes Chakra!

The retreat from what was once his home was made in relative silence. Clear as it was that Akane had some plan on a destination, Zanto did not even care to ask. His mind was elsewhere, plagued by speculations on what the future held. Having finally looked in the mirror, he knew exactly what he looked like. His jagged teeth, red, glowing eyes, and wings were things of some mythical creature in a story. However, this was no story. It was his life that had been turned upside down and shaken viciously.

It had been a a full day since the events transpired. A nights rest was had under the stars with only the warmth of a campfire and some makeshift tents. Hunting had been done, and clothing created for the behemoth of a man. It was simple fur clothing, nothing special. It had no pocket like Kiriko liked from his other clothes, nor a soft, fur lined hood, but they were clothes to be rid of the makeshift skirt.

Now, their trek continued bright and early in the morning. Having had a nights rest for his mind, he was feeling more certain of the situation. He could tell that Kokoro and Akane were keeping chat to a minimum, letting everything set in for the … ex-miner. Now, he decided to force conversation as a way of letting them know he was ready to talk.

“Akane. Do you have a plan?” he walked behind the elemental and the words came quietly. He was fairly certain she had something in mind, but he didn't really know what.

Akane turned to look at Zanto before answering, getting more and more used to his new appearance as they moved and she nodded in response. ”I do… part of it you’re not going to like.” she mentioned, though she decided to skip over the part he wouldn’t like the most for now.

”First though, you’re going to learn chakra.” she told him simply. ”There are techniques that will allow you to blend into a general populace, you’ll be able to look normal. These techniques are limited but frankly for your own safely I think its best you learn them, so we need to try again with our training from the other day.” she mentioned as they came upon a clearing. The trees broke into a large clearing with a fairly large lake and Akane turned to give Zanto a smile as this sight came upon them.

She wasn’t sure if he’d noticed how things had warmed up already, but the thawed lake she knew might show him that much. ”It’s not going to cause you further problems.” she assured him. ”What happened to you, Zanto… what you went through, it’s all about chakra. I saw it at work in you and I know you can use it.”

The first words out of Akane's mouth brought pause in the beast. What was she planning? It was clear she was not going to be telling him just yet when she quickly changed the subject to trying to learn chakra again. That also brought pause. Zanto had, more or less, connected the idea of learning chakra to the mutation that took place. He still didn't know exactly what is was, but there was definitely a connection. The way the sickness that led to the brutal mutation happened right after he took that step on the water was too much for any mere coincidence. However, since that all happened already, what was the worst that could happen now? Surely there was no greater damage that could be done. Plus, he was curious what she means by allowing him to blend in. Could he turn back into his original body or something?

Regardless, as the trees opened up, Zanto's thoughts were grabbed by the sight. He had never left Blizzard Country before. He had never seen land without snow, nor a lake that was not frozen over. His jaw would go slack as his eyes stared out at the clear body of water. It was turning to an entirely new world with every step away from his home. A part of him had always wanted to travel the world, granted, not in this manner. All the same, Zanto found peace in the new scenes during this hectic time.

He was pulled back to reality by Akane's assuring words. “Ah'm willin' tae give it anither try.” Zanto knew it was there. He had felt it himself. The memory stood in the back of his mind, that single step out on the water. That amazing moment just before everything went to hell. It was a magical step which he could stand on water, once believed to be impossible. Since his transformation, he could definitely feel that warm, weird feeling he felt in that moment much easier than before. He still had every desire to learn how to utilize his chakra.

“Kokoro needs tae learn too, right?” he would say, suggesting she learn at the same time. It might even help to learn beside another. His gaze would go to her as he said the words, all the while, reaching up and petting Kiriko awake.

Akane moved to the edge of the water and knelt, cupping her hands together to fill them with water and splash her face, wiping it dry with a deep breath. The last couple of days had been stressful, she had watched Zanto go through a transformation not unlike her own. ”Good.” she told him in response when he mentioned wanting to try again. Part of her felt inclined to tell him more about her transformation, about her own experience but the thought was interrupted as Zanto suggested teaching Kokoro as well and the Enkouten looked over at the little girl who was nodding happily. ”Are you sure, ‘Ko?” she asked quietly, not sure if she wanted to teach the little girl just yet. It wasn’t that she was too young, but that could create a target on the girl’s back that wasn’t necessary, whereas for Zanto it was necessary for his survival in the world right now.

Kokoro nodded vigorously, grinning from ear to ear. ”Please, Akane? I really want to…”

Akane looked at her almost sadly and nodded. ”Alright.” she replied, turning her orange eyes upon Zanto once more. ”I told you before what techniques there were, do you want to start with the same one as last time or try something different?”

Zanto stretched out, bringing his wings to a full span as his arms reached into the air. He grunted out as he stretched, “Same thing,” letting out a deep sigh to signal the end of his stretch. He then continued, “Ah need tae tak' a bath anyways,” a loud, hearty chuckle followed the humor. Surely, he'd find himself in the water one way or another. At least this time, it would be warmer.

With slow, steady steps, he would come near to the unfrozen lake. His eyes still taking in the serene backdrop. The small ripples made by flying insects hovering over the water, along with the rustle of leaves overhead created a unique image in his mind unlike any he'd seen before. Everything was more crisp than before, like he could pick up on even more vibrations. The rubbing between joints of Kokoro and Kiriko as they moved, even the slow swirling motions of Akane's inner body were all new and energizing. It was as if this mutation triggered something deep within, like it was always destined to happen. Of course, what did he know?

Despite the pain, both physical and mental, despite everything that had befallen him, he was actually happy. He was happy to be where he was with people he loved. He would find a way back home in time, but for now, he just wanted to enjoy the moments he had. As his tail brushed the ground, patting speckles of dirt into the air, he would await to hear the instructions again, assuming Akane would give them more for Kokoro than himself. His senses would continue taking in the new surroundings while listening to the sweet voice of Akane.

Akane nodded and glanced between the two, smiling as Zanto stretched. Truthfully she’d come to like his wings, and they had given her quite an idea for herself later down the road. Before she would teach them she put a hand against Zanto’s chest and stood on the tips of her toes to kiss him on the lips, earning a little giggle from Kokoro. But then she let him move to the edge of the lake and Kokoro followed suit, bouncing on her heels as she waited eagerly for instruction.

”Alright then.” Akane began with a sigh, turning and looking at the back of both of them. ”The best way to start is by finding your chakra. I want you to close your eyes, and locate the energy that rests just behind your solar plexus, you’ll feel it sending energy to every part of your body, you may even feel it from the earth or the sky, even the water in front of you. When you find it, I want you to push it to your feet and allow that power to push against the water to balance you on its surface as you walk. This is a lot of trial and error, so be patient with yourselves, don’t get too upset.”

She crossed her arms as she watched them, and before they began she moved and picked up Kiriko from Zanto, sticking her tongue out at him. ”I don’t think she wants to go for a swim.” she teased, moving the little fox under her furs to let her rest in hiding.

[Graded]Blending In Takes Chakra!

As Akane stretched to meet his lips, the behemoth would still bend his knees a little. As their lips met, he'd close his eyes, savor the moment. It was the first kiss since the events that forced him to leave his home. He'd been through so much with Akane. She saw him mutate into a monster, but she still saw the same Zanto from before even the very moment afterward. He felt so close to her and their relationship seemed to only grow in intimacy. He would shine her a toothy smile as she pulled away before continuing his steps to the edge of the water.

Kiriko almost immediately began to get uneasy on the large man's shoulders as he neared the water. Almost like she knew what was coming. The young girl had never seen water like this. The scenery was all new to her just like her companion. The air smelled different, her fur had no frigid cold to keep out.

Zanto clenched his eyes closed on command, the red glow in his vision fading to black. It really didn't matter much as he maintained an nearly complete image of his surroundings from all the little vibrations around him. So crisp and fresh. Still, his attention would direct inward as he, once again, searched for that dark, warm feeling of his chakra. It would not be nearly as difficult as before, finding it right where Akane explained. It felt like a swirling pool of warm energy, seemingly less cramped and dark than when he first found it. The mutation unquestionably did something to it, though Zanto was not certain what it might have been.

Regardless, he pushed that warm feeling down towards his feet. The tingling sensation traveled down from his torso like the swirling pool had a dam release that allowed it to flow downward. Down it went through his abdomen, his thighs, his calves until it finally made it to where it needed to be. It only took a measly second, but with his concentration so set on the feeling, it felt much longer. Pushing the chakra out into the balls of hid feet, he was just about to take a step when he felt Akane approach.

As she spoke and pulled Kiriko from his shoulder, the feeling seemed to retreat back to where it reached from. The kit would struggle, only for a second, before accepting Akane's warmth as she snuggled into her furs. Zanto's eyes snapped open as he chuckled, “She coods use a bath, just th' same.” It was slightly unsettling to see how a simple distraction could mess him up as it did. It would take some serious work to stop that from happening. To be able to move that mass around without having to maintain full concentration on it seemed impossible. Yet, he knew Akane could probably do it.

Immediately after his comment, he'd close his eyes again and resume the process of moving the chakra to his feet. He was becoming slightly more familiar with it. Finding it in a short time, he would let his flow down through his legs before finally settling on the balls of his feet in a thin layer. According to the words, this thin layer could balance his massive body on water? If he'd not experienced it for a brief moment the last time, and felt Akane do the same, he'd still have trouble believing it to be possible.

With it all settles out as well as he could manage, he'd take a step forward, out onto the water, the foreign, unfrozen mass of liquid. His foot met the surface of the water and it felt hard, just like last time. It was as if the water was actually frozen over. He knew full well it was liquid. It just felt so amazing to be able to stand on water, like something straight from legends! Leaning forward, he'd put all his weight forward on the leg. He couldn't hold back the smile as his foot didn't fall through the surface. Could he possibly do this on the first try?

His back leg lift from the ground, moving forward to meet the surface of the water next to the one that already sat atop what shouldn't be possible. The thin layer of chakra was actually enough to hold the massive figure up! Still, his mind found it so difficult to accept, ready to fall through at any moment. His hands moved out, as if trying to balance himself on some kind of beam. His eyes remained clenched shut as he hard laugh bellowed out. With resolve in his heart, he pushed his right foot forward to take a long step atop the water. As he did, he felt the chakra nearly slip from his feet, but it maintained! The foot was met with a seemingly hard surface once more!

He felt so proud of himself as he continued his slow, steady stride across the water. Sporadic, hard laughs came forth as his mind tried so hard to accept what was happening. Finally, on the eighth or so step, he found the steps he'd already taken had caused small, but important ripples to move across the surface. Sure enough, as he stepped down, his foot was met with liquid rather than a hard ground. Panic set in, but it was too late. He needed to alter the base of chakra, but he just couldn't manage that. “Ah!” was the only sound he could utter before falling right through the surface of the water with a loud and large splash. The thrill his heart felt was not stifled by the failure as the refreshing water flowed against his body. Having never had the pleasure of swimming, the depth took the miner by surprise.

With intense struggle, he'd manage to thrash his way to the surface. He didn't know how to swim, sure, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to not drown. With some effort, he'd manage to get to a position where he could touch the ground, and walk inland. “Didn't think it woods be sae deep... Ah dunnae kinn how tae swim.” he would say with slow steps back towards land, letting out an embarrassed, light chuckle.

Kokoro seemed rather focused on her own training as she looked down at the water, trying to ignore the exchanges between Zanto and Akane as she did so. Though the young girl couldn’t help a giggle as Akane kissed Zanto. She hadn’t seem them be too affectionate before and while it was rather strange given Zanto’s new appearance, it made the girl rather happy. Not only because it meant that maybe a man who was like a brother to her had found happiness in someone, but that Akane wasn’t going to let that change just because of something he clearly couldn’t help.

Yet the training demanded her attention, and Kokoro wasn’t sure where to begin, despite Akane’s words. For several moments she simply stared at the water before her as her mind worked to try and find that energy Akane had talked about and yet she couldn’t find it. She closed her eyes to try and focus on it. The only thing the girl had really focused on in life were hunting and survival, and so she tried to treat it like that. Instead of looking for food or an animal though, she was seeking this living energy within herself.

She held her hands in front of herself, palm against palm at chest level in a position she’d seen Akane herself use when meditating and hoped it would work for her as well as she continued to search. She was like this for several minutes, looking in the exact place that Akane had told her and she almost ready to give up finding it entirely, at least until she realized that maybe it was a little different. It was barely a few moments later before she realized she could feel something, about mid-chest level above her solar plexus. It was a wild thing and felt like it was in one place and then another so quickly, even just finding it she thought for a moment it had jumped into her heart and back out, like a small shock to her system.

And then she physically jumped as she heard a great splash and opened her eyes to find Zanto in the water. She shook her head at his comments, and should have paid closer attention when he mentioned not being able to swim as the young girl couldn’t either. She’d never had reason to and so knew nothing about it. But almost immediately after realizing what the source of the noise was, she had gone back to her work, focusing on the energy within.

It seemed like it had a mind of its own, moving wildly within as she tried to imagine invisible hands grasping at it, trying to pull it into some sort of shape and yet it just danced between the invisible fingers, circling and encompassing them before dancing off somewhere else. It was made of some kind of life and had no desire to be controlled, much like Kokoro herself. She couldn’t help a small smile and a giggle at the wildness of it, though she felt like she should have been frustrated by it, she actually felt happy about it. This energy she was being told to harness within was so much like the girl herself, it just made some kind of strange sense. And so she quit trying to catch it.

Instead she tried to herd it, trying to encourage it to move down into her legs which at first worked like a charm. It danced down her legs and into her feet and toes, causing Ko’s hair to stand on end and her toes even twitched. It was a strange sensation really and yet it made her giggle, earning a raised eyebrow and a strange look from Akane. But the girl didn’t say a word, as she felt it move to her feet she tried to step out onto the water, but instead she was greeting with a slight chill sensation that caused that energy to move right back up into her chest and she went straight into the water, thankfully it only came up to her ankles at the first step.

”Let that chakra coat your feet, don’t just send and forget, you need to maintain it.” Akane reminded her quietly, watching the young girl’s progress.

Kokoro frowned down at her own feet as she took a step back out of the water and kicked some of it off her feet, her mind working over what she might have done wrong. This time as she closed her eyes and fought to guide the chakra to her feet it was as if it didn’t want to go and event went to her hands instead. Though with her eyes closed she didn’t notice the bits of dancing electricity that went between her fingers very briefly, an indicator of the element she would later be able to weild, and something that brought a smile to Akane’s face.

Meanwhile Ko silently fought with it for a bit longer and finally managed to push it all down to her feet, only this time she felt it swirling at the soles of her feet. It was only a small fraction of the energy itself but it seemed easier to work with in this small dose and, holding her breath, the young girl stepped out onto the water and found herself standing on a firm surface. It surprised her, but she kept moving. One step after another she felt like she was walking across a path of stones, not water and as she opened her eyes and looked down, verifying that she was indeed standing on water, it brought a great smile to her face. She was absolutely giddy.

She turned to look at the other two with that same grin on her face and loudly shouted, ”I got it!” But in doing so she lost her focus and fell into the depths, and a moment later was pulled out by the warm hands of Akane as the girl coughed.

As Zanto trudged his way out of the giant pool of water, he held nothing but a large grin. Sure, he just completely goofed and made a fool of himself, but he also just walked on water! How many many people could truly say, “I walked on water,” and mean it? Zanto didn't know there were entire villages dedicated to the practices, of course. Nevertheless, he was proud, especially getting it relatively well on the first attempt of the day.

He threw himself down on the shore, the water running off his slick skin wetting the ground beneath him and puddling on his sprawled out wings. His breathing, despite having shocked with the fear of drowning, was calm and constant. Since the transformation, he'd noticed some odd things about his body. It seemed to not grow weary, as if sleep was no longer needed. Hunger and thirst were the same, a distant memory. His heart remained constant in its beat no matter the exertion. His body simply didn't react the same on so many levels. It was odd, sure, but incredibly empowering at the same time.

His eyes went to Kokoro, feeling her step out onto the water. Her first step ended in a wet foot, but Zanto knew she would get it the next time. She pulled back, returning to the focused stance and Zanto would simply give words of encouragement, “Ye got it, Koko.” Sure enough, after a moment, she would take another step out and be met with a seemingly solid surface. Zanto grinned a toothy grin as he began to sit up for a better angle of the amazing sight. It still seemed so wrong to his brain, but it was undeniable.

His smile faded instantly as she fell through the surface of the water, but, before he could even make it to his feet, Akane was there, pulling her from the water. Her incredible speed took Zanto by surprise. He had no idea she could move that fast. Then again, perhaps it was due to that motherly adrenaline he'd heard about. Mothers lifting boulders off their children with ease and all... Seeing she was safely being pulled from the water Zanto would speak up through a grin to Kokoro, “Somethin' else we may need tae learn in th' future, aye?”

Kokoro was still sputtering and spitting out water as Akane carried her from the water and knelt, setting the girl down in the dirt. ”Yeah, definitely.” she said quietly, just before going into a coughing fit which actually brought a small smile out of Akane.

”Maybe I’ll teach you that too while we’re here.” she teased, glancing between the pair. ”Now the next one is actually one of the harder tasks you’ll learn, but if you learn it now then the rest will just be that much simpler.” she said as she stood and formed a couple of seals, walking over to a group of trees.

”You’ll focus chakra in your feet again but this time for a different purpose.” she called to the two as they watched, and she placed a foot on the trunk of the tree and suddenly walked right up the side of it, pausing halfway up to cross her arms and turn to look down at them. ”Some people use the chakra to cling, some have it pull them to the tree or force their weight onto it. Find what works for you, and do it.” she told them before pushing off the tree and flipping in the air, landing in front of the two in a crouch before straightening up to stand.

[Graded]Blending In Takes Chakra!

Zanto could help but smile at Akane's jest. Sure, he managed more of less to flail around till he made it to where he could stand, but learning to actually swim would probably be handy in the future. That is, unless he could simply master this water walking to the point where he would never find the need to simply swim.

Either way, his eyes eagerly went to the elemental as she moved on to the next technique they would be learning. How to walk up vertical surfaces. That could be even more convenient than the water walking simply due to it being more than just walking across liquids. He watched closely, still completely baffled by what he was seeing. It seemed to be related to the water walking technique in some fashion. Still a similar motion in the chakra, or so he assumed. The words rang in his mind as his hand went to his beard to begin twisting through it. Either cling with the chakra or pull the feet to the tree. So, by these words, this had variation among users. It was different in that the chakra was no longer just creating a platform of sorts on the bottom of the feet, now the chakra had to actually perform a task.

With Akane's proficient flip of the tree, Zanto's hand would untangle from his beard with a chuckle, “Yoo're far more athletic than Ah woods have guessed, lass.” Of course, he knew Akane would be proficient, given her trade. It was just surprising to witness such feats. Just like all the chakra techniques, it would take time for his mind to fully accept.

Following his words he would step towards a tree, the biggest one in sight to have plenty of room for his unusually large feet to find placement. His head would tilt upward, observing the trees intricacies. His mind wandered to the prospect of being able to utilize his wings, which currently was beyond his capabilities. If he could, he'd have no problem reaching the height of the tree in a single leap. For now, he'd settle with mastering the ability to casually stroll up it like it were a flat, horizontal surface.

This one posed a problem. Should the chakra not be in place when he stepped off the ground, he'd not simply splash into water. Instead, he'd crash into the hard ground. With that fear in mind, he closed his eyes and began working on his chakra. It was still a hard to control vicious pool of energy that seemed to only follow his orders on occasions. Additionally, as it was, he needed to keep focus on the movement of the energy at all times or risk losing control in an instant. It was tough, but he knew it would get easier with use.

Finding the pool, he'd begin tugging on it in different ways, trying to find the best manner of directing it to his feet. For this exercise, he really wanted to focus on his chakra and learn about it. As he attempted to move it around, it seemed like it would flow through different pathways. It was almost as if, naturally, the pool was completely dammed up and the best way to move it was to release only certain dams at a time. With calculated releases, the warm feeling moved down his legs once more. He did not heed the amount, letting ample flow down to form at the bottom of his feet. As he did, he could feel the dirt around his feet actually flutter just a bit.

Kicking his right foot up and onto the tree lightly, he'd lean into the tree, expecting it to latch on in some manner. Unfortunately, because he used too much chakra, as soon as he leaned into the tree the tree around his foot broke and his foot pushed back at him knocking him off balance. It was not enough to knock him over, but he was forced to remove his foot from the trunk. “Mm?” verbally grunted at the occurrence. His question was quickly answered by Akane. “Sae, th' amoont matters, aye?” He grumbled to himself as he clenched his eyes once again.

So, the amount of chakra is important. Had he just been lucky on the last technique to get amount right? He shrugged the thought off as he delved into his body, once more searching for that energy. It was pretty easy to find at this point, the biggest difficulty was moving it. What's more, now he had to be concern about how much he was moving. It was so much to think about all at once, it made his mind feel so groggy.

Still, he began the process, moving the chakra, slowly, methodically down. The warm feeling traveled through his abdomen, down his legs, and finally trickled into the soles of his feet. His face scrunched as he focused so heavily on getting just the right amount. Drop by drop, the base of chakra was made on his feet. Like a perfectly balanced and thin base of chakra! In another few moments, light grunts coming forth as he tried and strained so desperately to make it perfect, he finally thought he had it.

His body still straining so hard, he once again brought his right foot out and onto the tree once more, pressing weight against it. This time, he was met with no push back and he felt a light suction as his foot met the bark. Finally, his stern face released a smile as he bent his knee, his wings unfolding to their full length. In one swift movement, he picked his left foot up, pulling his weight up onto the tree. His body stiffened, all his muscles being used to keep his body straight as he stuck his other foot to the tree. The smile only grew as he began taking step after step up the tree, each foot sticking to the tree. After a good ten steps, making it quite a ways into the air, he finally lost it, the flow of chakra increasing too much until he was propelled back from the tree. A loud grunt came forth as he put on an athletic display of his own, thrusting his knees up to turn his body through a full back-flip. With a mighty flap of his wings, the gust of air swooshed around him as he landed.

It will take time to master the craft, but he definitely could manage a good few steps before losing control of his chakra. Only through practice would he be able to do it with the ease that Akane could. His gaze would go to Akane, the large, toothy smile and red gems relaying every bit of happiness he was feeling.

Kokoro listened to what was said and frowned, even as she looked over and saw Zanto approach a tree to begin his own work. All of it seemed so impossible, even for one as young as she. Despite having quite the vivid imagination, being still a child, it just all seemed so unreal. And even though she had already successfully walked on water, the tree climbing seemed so very intimidating. She walked over to the base of a tree and looked up, realizing just how tall it was. For several moments she simply stared up the trunk of the tree, remembering at the same time how she really didn’t like heights, but then she felt a warm hand on her shoulder.

”It’s alright.” she heard Akane say, turning her head to look up at the Enkouten. ”I’m right here, you’re not going to get hurt, okay?”

Ko looked at her a moment before nodding, and turned her eyes back on the tree in front of her. With a deep breath and a sigh, she brought her hands in front of her and began to meditate, focusing on that power within and the life it held. She had of course seen Akane meditate like this several times and, in training the walking on water technique, had discovered why it seemed to work. However before she had only closed her eyes and this time she tried to focus her full attention on her chakra.

The more she focused, the more she found it felt like a strange, wriggling, living thing. And manipulating it wasn’t just difficult because she had to find it first, any attempt to maneuver it was like trying to grab at it with ghostly fingers, it all just slipped through without being affected. She frowned as she focused, trying to push that invisible force to her feet as she had before, but as she felt it coat her feet, she wondered if it was even going to work. Yet she pushed her doubts aside, and made a run for the tree just as her eyes snapped open.

As her foot first touched the trunk she couldn’t help a grin, confident she would stick to the tree and begin to make her way up, yet the second step proved her wrong. She had used the same kind of force as she had with the water walking, which meant it was pushing her away from the tree rather than pulling her to it, and a moment later she felt to the ground with a yelp and a pouting frown.

She heard Akane chuckle, and heard Zanto asking her about the amount of chakra, or something of the sort, and Kokoro stood up to dust herself off and turned her attention back to the tree before her. For several moments she simply stared at it, her arms crossed under her chest as she scrutinized it, thinking to herself about the various ways people climbed trees without chakra, and she remembered something her father used to do. Her father always used a set of spikes that one could wear on their hands and their feet, using them to climb the tree rather quickly.

Kokoro couldn’t help a slight grin herself at the memory as she tried to imagine her chakra forming into spikes on her feet, spikes which could dig into the trunk of the tree and hold her in place. Once more her eyes snapped open and she ran straight for the tree. In reality she didn’t have the ability yet to form spikes on her feet but her push to imagine something holding her against the tree seemed to be working. As she got close she rest one foot against the trunk and then the other, and Ko had to force herself not to get even more excited as she hit her fourth step without losing her chakra or losing her footing.

Yet at the fifth step, her focus askew and concentration lost, she lost her footing as well and slid before falling to the ground at the base of the tree. Akane rushed to her side but Kokoro swatted her hands away, muttering under her breath. ”I’m fine…” She was determined to do this now, and refused to let Akane baby her like she knew she probably would. When they two had agreed that Kokoro would follow her, and Akane would be like a parent to her, things had instantly shifted to that dynamic.

But right now Kokoro didn’t want to see that, she wanted to succeed at learning this jutsu which she knew couldn’t be done if Akane coddled her in any way. She stood and brushed herself off, hardly noticing Akane take a couple steps back to watch, nor realizing that Zanto had finished his portion of the training.

Kokoro returned to her concentration, bringing her hands together and focusing on that source of both life and power within, feeling it dance and move between her ghostly fingers as she tried to grasp hold of it and force it to her feet. She knew she had to focus, she had to concentrate as she pushed it south. It writhed and fought against her but before long she could feel it coating her feet and grabbing at the earth. Her eyes snapped open again and Kokoro charged at the tree, running up the side of it.

There was no mental celebration at the third step, nor a smirk at the fourth and not even a chuckle at the fifth. She knew little celebrations like that would only serve to break her concentration and bring her to another stumbling failure down in the grass. She had to simply focus on the task at hand and take in her little victories later.

Before she knew it she was standing on one of the high branches, grinning down at Zanto and Akane triumphantly. The girl had done it.

As Zanto landed, the initial triumph was dwarfed by the giggle he heard from up in the branches above. Looking up, he'd see Kokoro made it much higher than he did. He'd need more practice before he'll be able to make it that high, that was for certain. "Good job, Koko!" he shouted up. Scratching the back of his neck he admitted, "Donae think Ah weel be makin' it 'at high witout some serioos practice." Of course, mastery would take time. At least for now, he understood how the technique worked well enough to implement it with general success. He walked over to stand underneath the tree she was in, holding his arms out, "A leap of faith, aye, lass?!" he'd shout up to her. Of course, he would catch he, pulling his arms down ever so slightly to lighten the impact should she choose to jump. With that, he'd turn to Akane, "So, whit is next, hen?" Now he had talking on vertical surfaces and water down fairly well. He was not even sure what might come next.

Akane was grinning as she watched Kokoro leap from the tree and into Zanto's arms, it clearly never occurred to the young girl that Zanto might drop her. She really did view him as her big brother and protector. She was even giggling as he set her down and turned to Akane.

"Something simpler." the woman replied, taking two explosive tags from among her things and handing one to each of them. "Channel your chakra into the drawn seal on that tag." she told him, walking over to the trees. "Put it on a tree trunk and then move several feet away, behind those rocks." she added, motioning to some large rocks that could easily hide all three of them. "Then, from that distance, channel your chakra to connect with the tag. You'll know when it works... those tags are explosives, and quite dangerous if you're not careful."

It was a simple explanation, but it was just enough to tell them what they needed to know for the technique.

[Graded]Blending In Takes Chakra!

Post by Gothmer » Tue Aug 18, 2015 9:31 pm

As Akane handed him the piece of paper, he'd take it in his hand and began examining it. He'd never seen an object quite like it before. The way the writing seemed so incredibly organized was kind of foreign to him. The word “Explosive tag” written in the middle also seemed strange. Of course, what did this have to do with the training, he was no immediately certain. Was the “seal” the writing on the paper? Put them on the tree trunk and move away... Odd. Channel the chakra from a distance, that was possible? It all seemed confusing.

The instructions became clear when she said the wee slips of paper were explosives! His eyes grew large as he suddenly handled the paper with much more care. “These are explosives?” He looked at it, thinking about how such a creation was even possible. Chakra was truly magnificent if it could make paper explode like dynamite. Was this truly considered simpler? If it were anything like the explosions contained in his dynamite, it was powerful no matter the simplicity.

Without wasting any time, he began working on channeling his chakra to what she called the seal. Holding the paper between his two large, clawed fingers, he closed his eyes and began searching. Searching for that increasingly familiar feeling he knew as his pool of chakra. That warm energy that rest deep within and was difficult to grasp. Finding that crimson pool of chakra, he began trying to move it, this time in a different direction. It felt different as he began to release the dam like constructs in his body to allow the chakra to flow out to his arm and all the way down to his fingertips. The warm, tingly sensation felt far more strange than when it traveled down his legs. It was an entirely new sensation! Still, finding the points to release was getting easier. Understanding the basics on how to actually move the pool of energy really made the entire process simpler, at least for the basic techniques they were learning thus far.

Finally, as it reached his fingertips, he came across a new difficulty. Up to this point, he'd only moved the chakra to create a layer on one of his body parts, specifically, his feet. Now, however, he needed to move it onto another object. It was a new challenge, but it was not as difficult as he thought it would be. It was as if the writing on the page aided in guiding the chakra as it was meant to be in order for this technique to work. Perhaps that was the meaning and use of the seal. He couldn't be sure, but all he knew was that the he was fairly certain he had done the first step of the process. With that task seemingly completed, he moved and placed it on the trunk of a tree off in the distance a bit before quickly taking cover behind the rocks Akane pointed out.

He almost expected the tag to go off unexpectedly. Sure enough, it didn't. The final step was to connect the chakra. Closing his eyes, he could almost feel the residual line of his chakra coming from the tag. It was a strange feeling, almost like it was directing him where to channel his chakra to make the connection. Still, it was another hurdle. How did he send his chakra to meet it? Now, with no particular direction to take in his body, he simply focused on the destination. That glimmer of chakra he could feel. He tried pushing his pool in the direction, trying to make that connection. He felt a small stream heading there as he pushed it forward. Sure enough, as the connection was made, “BOOM!”

An explosion rocked the area, sending his vibration sense for a whirl. With uneasy anticipation, he peered out from over his cover, already knowing what he would see. A hole was blown in the tree, sending the vegetation to the ground with a loud, cracking thud. His eyes grew wide, as if the actual sight of the event made it real! Turning his head to Akane as he peered over the rock, the toothy smile present once more, “Think Ah am gettin' better at thes!”

After doing the needed hand seal, the user is able to detonate an explosive tag. This is able to be used on an exploding tag that the user has imputed their chakra into prior and can only activate a single tag at a time. If more are needed, the tags explode in sequence, starting with one of the user's choice.

Akane watched Zanto go to work with a proud smile on her face. He seemed to be getting the hang of things rather quickly, though Kokoro was another story. Not long after Zanto was successful, Kokoro came over to her, almost shaking as she tried to hand the explosive tag back to Akane. Why she was afraid of it, Akane couldn't be sure, but she wasn't going to force the girl. "We'll work on this for you more another time, okay?" she asked her quietly, waiting to receive a nod before turning her attention back to Zanto.

"You're picking up on all these rather quick." she told him with a grin, her mind working through the other techniques until she picked one out. "Next thing you're going to do is make a copy of yourself using what's called a clone technique." As Akane spoke she formed the seals and a moment later it was as if there were two Akane's standing there before Zanto. But a moment later the real Akane swiped a hand at the clone and the clone quickly disapeared. "Theses ones aren't solid, but they're quite useful." she told him, waiting to see how he'd do with the technique.

Zanto's celebration was cut short when he noticed Kokoro was not participating in this training exercise. His smile curled into a frown as he picked up on the increased patter of her heart and the other small signs that she was feeling some kind of anxiety. He couldn't remember a time where he felt such signs of fear from the girl. Following the exchange between the two, Zanto would remain silent, allowing Akane full control over the situation. Their relationship was only getting stronger, and though Zanto couldn't foretell the future, he knew he couldn't always be there for her. Akane on the other hand could. She was stronger and better in every fashion. Where Zanto failed, she succeeded in protecting Koko, a fact that weighed hard on Zanto's heart.

Still, the words of praise from Akane brought the smile inching back across his face. “Whit can Ah say? A'am a natural. ” He jokingly boasted before turning to watching the demonstration. After a series of slow hand seals, which he watched with scrutiny, another Akane stood before him. His eyes took a moment to accept what he was seeing. Two Akane's standing right next to each other. With a swipe, one vanished and a few more words from Akane had Zanto's mind in a devious place. With a cheeky smile, he said, just loud enough for her to hear, “Be somethin' if they were solid. Two goddesses.” followed by a small wink.

Flirting felt different in his new body. He was not sure how he would be received, much less if he even managed to get it across. He had so much to learn about his body, but, nevertheless, he could only learn through trying. With that thought in mind, he'd jump right into attempting the jutsu that has just been demonstrated.

This was one of the first that needed handsigns, which brought a new difficulty to the table. He needed to run through the series before he'd be able to try it. The previous only took a single handseal to accomplish, which, In Zanto's mind, was different. With a failed attempt at forming the seals, he piped up, “Walk me through those finger movements again?” he would watch closely and mimic the movements, committing them to his memory. Each finger movement felt straining, a trouble that would only be alleviated through constant practice. Still, he managed.

Closing his eyes, he'd run down the series of seals and truly experience the reason about them. With each seal, the hard to control pool of energy deep within him seemed to grow a little more tangible, in a way. What was once a ghostly pool, suddenly felt real. Following the final hand seal, he almost felt something lock into place. The dams released on their own to guide the chakra with little assistance needed from his own control. It was... amazing to say the least. Of course, the chakra only made it so far before he needed to figure out the rest.

With the automatic travel coming to an end for the river-like chakra, the rest of the application rest in Zanto's hands. With the concept of an intangible clone of himself in mind, he began attempting to move the chakra. He would need to utilize the chakra in a way that would give them visibility but not any solid mass. In other words, it was exactly like the ghostly pool normally felt to him. So, pushing the chakra out of his body, he moved it, allowing it to congregate together in one location outside his body. At the same time, he held an image of his own body in his mind, forming the chakra to that image.

Finally, when he thought he had it, he opened his eyes. What he had was a further mutated version of himself. One eye, half a wing, hairless. It was an ugly sight. Straight away, he canceled the jutsu, allowing the chakra to roam free. His eyes roamed to Akane, an embarrassed feeling overwhelming him, but no normal signs would be visible. No rosy cheeks, or hot face.

Without a moments delay he got right back to it. Squinting his eyes closed again, he ran through the handseals once more. This time, he'd let the rivers flow to their termination before tugging on them. Moving the chakra in the same fashion as before, he attempted to build a better image of himself. It was a little more difficult given that his body was simply so... new. Still, he tried hard to form it perfectly. Two eyes, a nose, a mouth, two wings, two of each limb. It was tough! But, he could feel he was doing much better this time. As he worked on the clone, it would suddenly poof into existence. His eyes would open and there would be a clone of himself standing next to him. He looked at it and still couldn't believe it was him. For one, it looked so strange and... monstrous. And second, it was a clone made from chakra! “That's a wee better, aye?” He said to Akane.

Akane repeated the hand signs as requested, smiling as Zanto's attempt to flirt though in some ways the woman wondered if they'd be able to do much of anything given his new form. Though his new form certainly gave her ideas about her own form, and ways to augment it.

She saw his failed clone and couldn't help a small smile at his sudden cancellation of it. He might not of blushed but she could almost feel his embarrassment over it. In her mind though there was nothing to be embarassed over, after all, he was still learning.

"Very good." she told him with a bit of a grin. "How are you feeling though? Ready for another one?" she asked. If he indicated he was, she'd simply nod and form a few seals herself, and moments later in her place stood what appeared to be another Zanto, grinning at the man almost as if mocking, but a moment later he was gone again.

"Now you're going to make yourself look like me." she told him with a wink. "I'm sure you have enough of my form memorized to do me justice." she added.

At Akane's concern, Zanto gave a hearty chuckle, “If there is still more tae learn, Ah am ready tae go!” Of course, he was actually feeling the drain in a way he had never felt before. Pulling and directing his pool of energy seemed to grow more difficult with every use. The pool felt as if it was actually being depleted, which, he did not know was possible. He just assumed this was some kind of endless supply that people could pull on at will without actual depletion. Yet, this feeling made him question that. Still, he was ready for the next.

As he saw Akane weave a few more of the odd handseals, Zanto watched closely immediately moving to mimic them. Mimicking them made it easier to actually do them for the jutsu. His fingers were growing more malleable to the seals, but it was take a great deal of practice to do them as quickly as Akane. Then, as the seals came to an end, right before his eyes, Akane changed.

It took a moment for his eyes to accept what he was seeing before he said with astonishment in his voice, “'at whit I look like?!” The astonishment was for two reasons. First, the jutsu made Akane change entirely. No luscious curves, or beautiful yellow eyes. Instead, he was looking at the spitting image of himself in all his monstrous glory. And two, he was looking at himself in all his new monstrous glory. It was like looking into a mirror, with no mirror present. It was the first time he had actually seen himself apart from his face. His eyes moved to examine further before, once again, he was looking at Akane, causing Zanto to jump a bit.

Then came Akane's instructions, which came with obvious flirting which made Zanto smile. “Ye ken Ah do, love.” he moved in a little bit, talking in a softer voice as he continued to flirt, “Thoogh, another swatch may nae hurt.” He winked his red jewel before he made motion as if his eyes were examining her figure. The movement would be lost, no longer actually having an iris. Instead, he could see her entire figure without actually having to move his eyes. His vision had been odd in that manner, but the only habit died hard. His fingers went up and into his beard ad he stared at Akane. He had to do her justice, else it would be far more embarrassing than failing a clone. This was the divine goddess Akane he was going to be looking like! The pressure was on.

After a few moments of silent contemplation and committing every curve, strand of hair, and tassel of clothing to memory, Zanto clapped his clawed hands and rubbed them together. His toothy grin widening as his mind perused the mischievous plan he had. “Hope this works!” were his final words before his hands began forming the handseals to help mold his chakra to the technique. Following the seals, his being reached for the energy within, allowing it to be carried by the seals to its length before it needed his own aid. For this jutsu, it was clear what needed to be done. The appearance was being changed by chakra. In other words, the body needed to be coated with the chakra in order to allow it to change the image. The entire body had to be altered, all at once. Additionally, it would take maintaining the chakra.

Without further ado, Zanto's appearance would change in an instant. There stood a fairly good image of Akane. Some of the minor details were lost, especially in the clothing, but it was quite good regardless. Now, he'd start strutting around, as if putting on some kind of show, “Ah'm sae sexy! Arenae Ah, Akane?” He said, giggling as his hands moved to his butt, giving it a good squeeze. It was then that his smile would fade before giving it another light squeeze. In the next moment, he'd end the jutsu, his hands still on his butt as he said in as sad a voice as his deep grumble of a voice could manage, “That... definitely wasnae yer butt.”

Akane couldn't help a laugh at Zanto's obvious disappointment about replicating her backside as she walked over and rest her hands on his hips, grinning up at him. "Don't worry, you can refresh your memory on that later." she told him, kissing him gently as she rest her hands against his chest now.

"Only two more to go, first we'll do what's called change of body stance." she said, taking a step back and pointing at a log a few feet away. "It's point is a quick escape in an impossible situation, replacing yourself with another object and taking that objects place." She formed the seals and a moment later, with a 'poof', the log was where Akane was and Akane was where the log was. "It's not easy, but very useful." she told him.

This substitution allows the object to take the force of the attack that was meant for the user, additionally allowing the user to create distance between him/her and the opponent. The object used in this jutsu may not be objects that are imbued with chakra or controlled by it, and they may also only be single, solid objects within a 20 yard radius of the user. [Graded]Blending In Takes Chakra!

Post by Gothmer » Wed Sep 09, 2015 1:13 am

For some reason, the affection from Akane felt strange to Zanto. He had built up in his mind that things would change. He was a monster now. How could she possibly still find him attractive? Every time he saw his own reflection, he still couldn't even believe it himself. Yet, here she was giving him a tender kiss and implying of things to come. He'd kiss back, immediately wrapping his arms around her to embrace her for a moment. The emotions overwhelmed him, and he forced out the quiet words, “Thenk ye, Akane. Thenk ye fur everythin'.” He just had to let her know how grateful he was. He was glad they had met on that fateful night.

He'd release his grip and focus on the next technique. The first of the last two he'd be learning for the time. The basics. He nodded to Akane as she began, without hesitation, into an example of the technique. A technique that allowed the user to switch places with an object instantly. Now this was more like it! The explosion was cool. Walking on vertical surfaces and even water was great. Even changing your own appearance had its uses. But this, this was teleportation! A means to immediately travel! Even if it was only a few feet, it was still amazing, and he could actually see uses in a scrap for such a technique.

So, his eyes once again focused on Akane's hands as she began doing the all important seals. The means to making directing chakra supremely more easy than without doing them. Then, instantly, he was no longer looking at Akane. Rather, he was looking at the log she pointed to only moments before. His jaw his the floor, and his wings tensed up as he heard Akane's voice from the direction the log was previously. She told him exactly what was going to happen, and still, he couldn't believe it. His head turned to see Akane standing a few meters away.

“Aint easy, huh? This one... does seem difficult,” he mumbled as his head turned back to the log. Still, there was no giving up now. He'd learned so much already, and he could feel that only the surface was being scratched. He;d seen Akane spit lava, after all. Everything he had learned thus far were things that normal men would deem impossible, magic, or things of stories. He could probably convince people they were only possible through a pact with God! For such techniques to be only scratching the surface, that was profound.

“Two more, got it!” He said before kicking the log a good distance away. Bringing his foot back down, he'd set it down to the side, creating a wide base. His eyes closed, and his hands clasped together in front of him. Of course, closing his eyes were hardly a means to make concentration more focused. His other senses still ran rampant, especially his vibration sense. Still, something about it made delving inward, to his chakra, easier. Finding the chakra, in this technique, would be the easy part. The hard part was applying the chakra in the method that was required to for this teleportation. That was going to be extremely difficult.

But, he began working anyways. Finding the pool of energy, he began grasping upon it. His hands made the series of seals he witnessed Akane do at the same time. As soon as he finished the seals, the pool became far easier to grasp once again. A phenomenon that still seemed strange. He liked it though. As the chakra dams fell, leading the chakra to where it needed to be, Zanto did his own part, trying to mold the chakra. He envisioned the log in his mind, reaching the chakra towards the log. He needed to swap places with it. The only way he could do that is if his chakra actually knew where the log was. It needed the direction. The chakra moves slowly, which would not due in the middle of a scrap, but increased speed would only come through more training.

As the chakra reached the log, it covered the wood in a thin layer. It felt like a connection was made. Now came the attempt. With a surge of chakra, he tried with all his might to allow the chakra to trade places. But, almost as if slipping in a traditional scrap, the chakra began to recede. 'Whit's t'is?' The swirling crimson pool within him seemed to be calling the chakra back, as if it needed it back. Why? His teeth grit hard as he felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. Yet, in a moment of rebellion, he pushed harder, forcing the chakra to latch back onto the log. A hard groan bellowed out from deep within his gut as a light pain developed right in his chest. He didn't stop though. With a final surge, he pushed the technique to its completion.

In the following moment, Zanto's full overwhelming figure seemingly poofed from existence and reappeared where the log sat on its side. The small painful sensation within his chest flared up for a moment before fading back from wherever it came from. It was an odd sensation and one that Zanto did not entirely understand. It was something apart from his physical being that ached in the moment, yet it felt very much connected. Pushing the concern to the back of his mind, he looked over his shoulder towards Akane. “Weel, 'at was fun! One more, aye?”

Akane didn't smile this time, a rather serious expression taking over her face as Zanto asked about the last jutsu. "I've been saving this one for last for a reason." she told him quietly, crossing her arms. "Genjutsu is the art of illusion, a shinobi can use their chakra to disrupt their target's chakra. I can cause a variety of things, to see somethig that isn't there, smell, or taste, or hear... sufficed to say it can turn your world upside down and render you unable to interact with the real world... and therefore unable to defend yourself."

Akane was pacing as she spoke, her eyes on the ground. "I've never been very proficient in the arts myself, they can be deadly when used right but I always saw it as a cheat... but I recently started studying it. What we're going to do now is I'm going to put you under a genjutsu, Zanto..." she stopped her pacing and turned to look the man in the eyes as she paused. "What you're going to do is disrupt your own chakra flow. Once under the genjutsu you have to interrupt your flow, and mine to you, to stop the genjutsu. I'll be using a small one since this is only training, I just hope it doesn't affect you too badly."

Akane immediately began forming seals, and a moment later the smell would begin to invade Zanto's senses.

An illusionary jutsu that, after performing the necessary hand seals, causes the target to begin to smell rotting flesh and decaying bodies. The jutsu can cause nausea and vomiting from the target, depending on how sensitive their sense of smell is, and begins once the victim witnesses the user perform the hand seals. The smell of the dead can also cause some mental stress on the target. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

Seeing her expression, Zanto knew there was bad news on the horizon. His toothy grin quickly faded into a far more somber look, “Whit is it?” before Akane went into the explanation. Genjutsu, an art that is able to affect the senses through the use of chakra? The prospect sent a chill down his spine. “So, ye can make me hallucinate things? 'at soonds..” He trailed off. It sounded terrifying!

With Akane mentioning a lack of proficiency in the art, Zanto was pretty surprised. He simply assumed Akane was good at everything. For some strange reason, he had this impression that anyone who knew chakra, knew everything. Like as soon as he mastered the basics, he'd have some kind of general proficiency, and be able to utilize it at will. He was quickly learning the truth. Chakra took massive amounts of time and effort to master and control. Even these techniques, which are considered the “basics” took effort. It was as if he were back in school. As if he were learning to read again.

Zanto's face moved to one of shock as Akane told him she was going to use Genjutsu on him. “W... whit?!” A glimmer of fear consumed him in that moment. “Interrupt th' flow. Got it.” With a deep sigh, he'd finally nod, accepting the training. A hard gulp came as he watched her begin the seals. He braced for impact as if something was going to actually hit him with force. Then, the handseals finished, and his nose was suddenly assaulted by the smell. The smell of... decomposing flesh. His face contorted to one of disgust as the smell assaulted his sense of smell as if he were standing in a field of dead and decomposing bodies that were fresh and rotting in the sun for multiple days.

“Gah!” He shouted as his hands went to cover his nose. It wouldn't help, of course. The smell was so strong, and felt as if it were inside his nose. It was so strong, his stomach began twisting, as if it were ready to be rid of all its contents. He fell to his knees, as he tried to focus on the exercise rather than the smell, but it was so strong! Pushing the nausea back, he closed his eyes, trying to find a place of composure within his mind. It felt so unbelievably real, but he knew it was only an illusion! This was the power of Genjutsu? To make someone feel something so real, it was hard to believe it was possible.

Accepting the fact that there was no ignoring the smell, he just forced his mind to delve inward. Surely he could find the chakra that was causing the feeling. It would be something other than his own chakra. Akane's chakra would be somewhere within. He had to find it! First, he found his pool of energy. It was much weaker than he remembered. How long could he go before it ran out? Could he find a way to increase the pools size, or was it static? These question had been running through his mind since he first found it. But, not was no time to focus on such questions. His nose was being destroyed and he needed to find the foreign chakra.

Searching through his body, he found that his own chakra had been mixed with another. A light blue energy. Was this Akane's? The light blue mixed with his own crimson chakra, as if the light blue was trying to kick the crimson out. “'at must be it!” the words came out loud, through gritted teeth. His eyes still closed, his hands moved to the ground, stabalizing his wavering body as he continued to focus his attention inward. Now, the question came... How can he removed the light blue?!

The light blue chakra was overtaking his own, like a poison spreading within his body. The poison, though, was only chakra. It caused nothing more than an intense sensation in his nose. A fake sensation! Recalling the words Akane spoke, he needed to interrupt the flow. To interrupt the flow, he'd need to first push all the foreign chakra back from his own. So, with that thought in mind, he surged his chakra with heavy effort. But, the chakra seemed too weak, as if the lowered amount actually made the effort ineffective. The blue chakra was just too powerful!

Another try, he pulsed his chakra hard against the foreign element within, but still, little progress was made. The smell still assaulted his nose. As he knelt upon the ground, he heaved a dry retch, his stomach's attempt to expunge its contents. Shaking his head, his mind delved inward once more. He had to figure this out! 'Disrupt the flow!', his mind shouted at him. What did that mean!? It seemed impossible. The foreign chakra held to tightly to its malignant purposes. Then, the idea popped into his mind. Trying to force the chakra out did not seem to work, but the foreign chakra affected his own, making it move in ways he was not telling it to move. So, instead of trying to force the chakra out, he tried pulling it wall inward, locking it away from the assaulting enemy chakra.

In the next moments, the smell faded, and the light blue chakra, losing its purpose, seemed to leave his system. So, sever the connection, and the genjutsu will halt? Perhaps an easier way would come to light as he practiced more, but for now, he was searching for anything that worked. The smell was so horrendous!

The sick feeling faded quickly following the smell. His eyes looked up towards Akane as he knelt on the ground, “That was terrible! An', e'en though Ah kent it was nae real, mah body didnae.” He shook his head. This jutsu type was powerful and scared him more than anything he'd encountered as of yet. To be able to trick the mind with a simple casting of a jutsu, no way to stop it from happening... That was power to be reckoned with. At least a fireball can be dodged. He rolled over to his back, his wings falling onto the ground. “'at was th' last one, right?” he said as he stared up through the branched of the trees.

Akane smiled softly down at him as she moved to kneel beside him. "That was the last one." she told him. "Honestly that jutsu was pretty low level... genjutsu get far more convincing and far more complicated... but few specialize in it. Like anything else though, it's a real gamble to specialize in one type and forego the others." she told him, laying to rest her head on his chest with a smile on her face.

"I'm sorry I had to subject you to it. Unfortunately there's no other way to learn it." she added, leaning up to kiss the man gently.

As Akane explained the genjutsu was actually a low level one, Zanto couldnt help but feel as if these were truly the worst and most inhumane jutsu to exist. At least, as far as he knew. They were tricks, on level with poison. A weak man's go to. A true opponent would relish the thrill of a scrap and face it head on. Of course, that is how Zanto always faced a scrap. Genjutsu did not interest him in the slightest, but he feared it as much as he feared an attack while he slept soundly.

Through the training time, the man's mind had come down to a more realistic level. Chakra and its utilization took time and effort to master. There was no way around that. Yet, as Akane spoke of specialties, his mind swam with all kinds of questions. He knew he had barely scratched the surface of this entirely new world. Just as Akane laid down next to him, he'd curl his wing around her, pulling her close.

“It's fine. Cheers fur teachin' me, love.” He said as he stretched into the kiss. Right on queue, he felt the patter of a patiently waiting fox sprinting towards him. With a leap, the kit landed right on his stomach, cutting the kiss short as he made fiegned pain sounds, “Oooo.” He'd quickly reach out and snatch the pup up, pulling her to his side, “Ye wanna snuggle too, aye?” Then, his head turned to look towards Kokoro, “How about ye, wee miss! Ye okay over there?”

His mind continued to race about chakra and its inner workings, but his body and soul were tired of it after spending so long training. Now, he just wanted to relax a bit. The questions could wait until they began their journey once more.

Akane couldn't help laughing at the antics of the little fox who seemed to have finally adjusted to Zanto's new appearance and was acting like herself again. The woman of lava reached over the scratch behind an ear as she grinned at Zanto, knowing that even though he didn't say it, he had to be feeling some kind of relief at the fox's sudden playfulness. "I never knew she could be so playful." she remarked, even as Kokoro finally started making her way over.

"I'm okay." she said almost sullenly as she sat cross legged just a foot or so away, crossing her arms in a small huff which caused Akane to raise an eyebrow. "I'm fine!" Kokoro said almost emphatically, as if Akane had pestered her somehow even though the woman hadn't said a word. It was pretty obvious Ko was a bit frustrated with herself for giving up on the techniques, but for the moment Akane didn't say anything about it.

To lose so much in what seemed like the blink of an eye entirely due to something that was completely out of his control. At least, he assumed it to be something completely out of his control. It's not like he willingly chose to become a monster. So, now, he cherished what relationships he had even more than before, Kiriko being one of them. Knowing that animals can be fickle beasts, he was very glad to see Kiriko does indeed know that Zanto is still Zanto.

Zanto cackled loudly, "Aye. She's th' biggest goofball Ah've ever met!” He said as he the little kit began squirming to get onto her back while still in Zanto's grasp. Little grunting and plucking noises could be heard as she squirmed. She was telling Akane that she wanted her belly rubbed. “Oh, look haur. Th' needy lass strikes again!” Should Akane rub her belly, she'd begin making this weird purring noise.

Then, with the exchange with Kokoro, Zanto would reach out and place his hand on her knee. The sassy lady was attempting to keep her defeat wrapped up inside. He knew what she was feeling, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he turned his words to Akane, “So, lady, whit is it next step?” He couldn't help but know that Akane was avoiding the question up to this point. A scratch at the back of his mind wondered what she might be hiding. Of course, he also still needed to learn a more efficient way of hiding his appearance, but he figured that would come in due time.

Akane couldn't help a laugh as she watched the little fox squirm around in Zanto's grasp until she was on her back, and Akane gave in, reaching out to scratch her belly. "I gotta say, needy or not, she's hard to resist when she's being this cute." she remarked, shaking her head. She knew the little fuzzball loved being pet by her, not that she was particular good at it compared to others, but the extra warmth of her hands seemed to be something the fox really liked.

Kokoro couldn't help a little frown as Zanto touched her knee, not wanting to admit how much this was eating at her. She knew Akane would try again at teaching her later if she asked, but she had wanted to badly to learn with Zanto.

When asked the question Akane frowned but nodded as she considered it. "Well we could figure out what your element is." she said, taking a slip of paper from her things and handing it to Zanto. "This is a special type of paper, channel your chakra into it and it will react based on what your base element is. From here... well from here you have to experiment to learn other techniques and such. There's only certain things I can teach as I'm limited with my elements." she told him, wondering if she should explain the concepts of clan techniques... though the thought bothered her and brought up memories she hadn't thought on for awhile.

Of course, the warmth was something any creature would love. It felt inviting in a way. Even Zanto was no different. He'd grown to like the abnormal warmth, even knowing the strange reason behind it. The little white furball began to purr lightly as the warm fingers kneaded through her fur, as well as making odd clicking noises. “Aye. That is her plan. Lassie is a schemer.” he said, eyeing the pup with a feigned suspicion before giving in himself. He didn't pet the belly though, instead, he went for her feet, digging between the toes. He knew she liked that, at least until it became ticklish.

She was adorable, and despite often giving a facade of gruffness, Zanto loved the lass as if she were a true family member. He was ecstatic that she was still able to recognize him in his new, unfamiliar form. His voice and appearance may be different, and he probably even smelled at least a little different, but somehow she was able to see it. Maybe it was simply how he handled her with a firm, but loving hand, his little twitches, and his antics. There was not way to truly tell how the critter knew, but she undoubtedly knew. An animal could figure it out, yet he was certain his closest friends and family would view him only as a monstrous creature.

As Akane moved into the paper talk, Zanto gabbed it with a perplexed look on his face. He mainly wondered how the little device worked, but he also felt some anxiety as to what the result would be. He didn't actually know what elements were possible. He proceeded to ignorantly claim, “Yoo can teach me more when this paper turns to lava!” He had only seen Akane use her strange lava techniques, so he was quick to assume it was just an element people could get. As he said it, he began channeling chakra into the paper. The result? The paper turned to dirt and crumbled onto his chest. For a moment, he wouldn't say anything, just stared in shock at the result. He didn't know what it meant, but he had an assumption, “So... Dirt?”

Akane grinned when he mentioned the lava, though she wasn't able to respond before the paper crumbled into dirt and she nodded. "Though we call it Doton." she said with a grin as she finally stopped petting the little fox and stood to stretch, knowing at least that one was an element she could demonstrate. "There are some families in the ninja world that have access to special elements, without their blood and secrets you can't get access... my Lava is one of those. I'm from a clan, my family name, the Enkouten is well known in my village for their use of lava. But to use lava, we also have to use Doton." she explained to him. "So there are definitely some things I can teach you."

As if to demonstrate, Akane formed a few seals as she turned away from Zanto, and not too far from her a wall of dirt rose from the ground. "Every element has its strength and weaknesses. One of Doton's strengths is defense, among other things."

She was about to demonstrate something else in a far more playful mode, but then Kokoro inadvertently revealed the fact that she had managed to snatch another paper without Akane seeing it. The young girl channeled her own chakra into it and suddenly yelped and swore as light danced across her fingertips, falling to the ground as Akane laughed.

"And that would be Raiton, Lightning. Excellent offensively, but you need to finish learning the basic techniques before we attempt anything else. That one I'm afraid I'm not capable of."

“Earth, aye?” He questioned to himself. It was not really what he was expecting. It didn't seem spectacular like he imagined all chakra to be. He was not knowledgeable on the reach of Doton, its uses, or anything of the sort. So, in a way, it was almost disappointing. He pictured jutsu to launch pebbles, or things of that nature.

Akane's warm fingers had just nearly lolled the beast to sleep. But, the moment Akane stopped petting Kiriko, she made an odd grunting noise before quickly rolling to her feet. She tromped over Zanto, following Akane as she moved like a little white shadow.

He listened carefully to Akane's words on families, making his way to his feet. The travel felt much further due to the strange exhaustion he was feeling. Elements could be passed on by blood? It was a strange concept. It became more and more clear that Zanto had so much to learn about the Shinobi world. As she explained that her element, Lava, utilized Doton, A small smile crept across his face. She could teach him about his element then. That meant, he could learn more!

As he watched her perform a doton jutsu, he was pleasantly surprised at the result. The jutsu moved the earth to form a wall. It was probably something simple, but he could see the use. “Defense, aye?” He said aloud. It was no lava, but it was useful, for sure. And, seeing his pickaxe propped against a tree, he couldn't help but think about how fitting it was to be his element.

His attention was grabbed by the yelp from Koko, drawing his gaze. He chuckled as Akane explained what happened. “Raiton! Noo that, Ah have tae see!” He continued with a simple question, “So, Ah cannae learn lava, but can Ah learn raiton?” As he questioned, he bent down and snatched Kiriko up, placing her on his shoulder with a little nuzzle of his face on her as he did so. She squirmed for only a moment before sitting calmly.

Akane shrugged as Zanto spoke of Raiton. "Honestly I don't know. That's for you to discover as you go along. Some have learned to use it through focus, for others it comes naturally... I know I'm personally not capable of it." she said, sighing as she moved over to Zanto and wrapped her arms around his waist and smiled up at him. "Come on, I think it's time to take a break, you and Ko need some rest." she told him, ignoring the disturbed look from Kokoro at both the use of her nickname and the affectionate gesture between the two.

Zanto knew he had so much to learn, so much experimentation to do. Now that he could find that swirling pool of energy, he had to find his own ways of using it for his own purposes. He couldn't think of a better element to naturally have. One that specializes in defense, or as Zanto believed, protection. For as long as he could remember, he only wanted to protect those who needed it. Until now, he never felt like only his trained body would ever truly be enough to protect those who needed it around him. That was made evident when Kokoro was taken. When fear gripped him at the thought of crossing weapons with truly ruthless killers. But now, he had something powerful that just needed training.

As Akane wrapped her arms around him, he would smile. He knew she was referring to that strange tiredness he felt. Like his body was hungering for something that naturally dwelt within. An emptiness. “Aye. Rest soonds good.”

Noticing Koko's look, Zanto simply wrapped his monstrous wings around Akane, blocking the view. Revealing a cheeky smile, he leaned down to give the beautiful, yellow-eyed woman a passionate kiss. Despite being in such a desperately depressing situation, having to leave the only place he ever knew as home, he felt so happy. Akane and Kokoro were to thank for that.

Of course, as soon as he pulled from the kiss with simple words, “Thank ye, Akane,” he felt a nudge against his neck. He jerked his neck to see Kiriko giving him sad eyes. He gave her a peck on the nose, “Thank ye too!” Pulling his wings back, he continued much louder, “And ye, Kokoro!” He felt the need to thank each of those who stayed around him before turning back to the rest mentioned, “Now, hoo aboot that rest?”
