Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Saeko is most easily recognizable by her flaming red hair, which waves down to her lower back, and her eyes the color of apple juice. She wears her hair in a simple high ponytail. She is often described as cute by adults who don't realize that she could make them hallucinate terrifying things.
  • Body: Saeko is of slightly-less-than-average height and weight, standing at 5' exactly and weighing 80 pounds. She has a slim, wiry figure and pale skin. She's as flat as a board and not exactly proud of it.
  • Notable Features: Saeko has a long thin scar the stretches the expanse of her back from an accident involving a house, a major spirit, and a future Raikage.
Clothing/Accessories: Saeko dresses simply, preferring to don a black short-sleeved shirt, black leggings, and a dark gray coat that trails around her knees. The coat has long sleeves and a large hood that she often takes advantage of to hide her hair. Her shins and feet are covered by black leather boots, her forearms are covered with thin steel guards, and she wears fingerless gloves. She often wears a white and red mask that covers her entire face as well. Saeko has two large tan pouches attached to the belt that ties her coat together, one on each hip, and another smaller pouch on her right thigh.

Saeko does not wear a forehead protector, as the symbol of Kumogakure is engraved into the forehead of the mask.

Personality:
  • General: Do not be fooled by Saeko's short stature or cute face. She is the type of person who does first and thinks second. She doesn't have the patience to wait, wait, and wait some more. In fact, she spends more time thinking about how to do something than whether or not she should do it in the first place. Once she makes up her mind about something, she will stick to her decision no matter what.

    Saeko doesn't really have great control over her emotions; once she starts getting angry, she'll keep getting angry until either something happens to placate her or humiliate her. She has a huge sense of pride and will hardly ever back down from a challenge, and issues challenges like it's nothing. She lives for the rush of adrenaline that comes with doing something risky.

    Saeko can be easily flustered at times if you can find something to poke at; however, her outer shell of bravado can make it hard to find anything in the first place. Her loudly obnoxious laugh is a trait of hers that she uses often, always finding something to joke about. Saeko also has an insatiable appetite for sweet things. More often than not, one can find her stringing up traps while munching on something sugary.

    Saeko is quick to idolize those who are stronger than her, as she aspires to be like them.

    Despite her fiery temper, Saeko is fiercely protective of her mother. Badmouth them and you'll be haunted by visions of flying pigs and shadows for weeks.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Saeko wants to become the best hunter-nin in Kumo and find her father. End of story.
  • Fears: Despite her loud, brash, and generally annoying exterior, Saeko has domatophobia (a fear of being inside houses) and claustrophobia due to a traumatic experience as a child. She has mostly recovered from the initial problems she had, but this one lingered. Saeko is also afraid of failing her village and losing her mother.
  • Combat Mentality: Saeko is crafty, always willing to use tricks and "underhanded" tactics to win. She loves to win and hates to lose, and will often push herself over her own limits in order to achieve victory.

D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will focus chakra into their mouths and into up to five senbon within 3 feet of their position. The senbon will be summoned from their persons or nearby into the user's mouth, where they will be spit out aided by chakra at a speed of 6 and strength of 4. The senbon can be shot up to 7 meters away.

After channeling chakra into one of their fists, the user will then attempt to strike their target and if successful, they will release additional concussive force in the form of an outward explosion at D-Rank force from their fist. If the user does not strike a target within 3 posts the jutsu dissipates.

D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will coat one of their hairs in chakra. Once this has been done, they will place it on their target. The user can track the exact location of the strand of hair for up to 7 meters. For up to twenty meters out, the user can track a rough location. From then out to 100 meters, the user just gets a general idea of where the opponent is. The chakra in the hair will dissipate at the end of 6 posts.

After performing the correct hand seals the user causes a thin 3x3 meter flat barrier to form directly in front of them at a speed of 5. This barrier can take a hit of up to 5 strength before shattering, otherwise it lasts for 3 posts.

D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A technique used for a variety of purposes, each unique to the user's needs, the user channels chakra over their eyes. This chakra will act as though it were solid, rendering the user blind until it is dispelled. This can be held as long as the user has chakra, but once it has ended, it has a cool-down period of 2 posts before it can be used again.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will focus chakra into a rope, wire, or a similar object in their possession. The object will then lash out at a target at a speed of 10 for up to 15 meters attempting to then coil around them and bind them. After coiling around the target, the chakra will cause the object to harden to a strength of 10. After 4 posts the chakra will run out and the bind will break.

C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user forms a 10m3 barrier around a target up to 10m away from their position. The barrier forms at a speed of 12, has a strength of 8, and lasts 4 posts before fading away.

C-Ranked Ninjutsu
An advanced form of the Transformation Technique, after performing the correct hand seals and holding the final one temporarily, the user will coat and mold chakra around their body into the shape and form of something or someone which is no more than twice their size at a speed of 4. This technique's true advantage is that the disguise is given physical substance. This means, for example, if they transform into something with claws, they will have claws that can physically be used. For the disguises 5 post duration, if it is damaged by a hit of 16 or more strength, the disguise "poofs" from existence. This includes collateral damage caused by striking an opponent that may occur to the disguise.

After forming a single hand seal the user will snap their fingers. Within the next couple seconds anyone who hears the snap will feel something tiny, such as a raindrop or bird poop hit the top of their head.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
A rather simple genjutsu that is put into place when the user says a statement ending in "When Pigs Fly". Seconds later, anyone who hears the user say that will see several pigs with full hawk wings fly past, just a few feet above the user and the victim’s head, serving as a somewhat confusing distraction.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the hand seals and pricking the opponent with some sort of small weapon (usually senbon), the opponent feels their arms and legs fall asleep. It feels as if the blood flow to these appendages has basically stopped, making their movements a tad sluggish and just all around uncomfortable. This jutsu doesn’t really hinder a person, but it makes everything they do feel off. For those who are attuned to the way their body feels during battle, it can be extremely distracting. Lasts 3 posts.

*[Genjutsu • Smell Of The Deceased]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
An illusionary jutsu that, after performing the necessary hand seals, causes the target to begin to smell rotting flesh and decaying bodies. The jutsu can cause nausea and vomiting from the target, depending on how sensitive their sense of smell is, and begins once the victim witnesses the user perform the hand seals. The smell of the dead can also cause some mental stress on the target. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then point indiscriminately. Should the target see the pointing motion, they'll be captured in this genjutsu. For the following 4 posts, the target will see a shadow in the corner of their eyes, constantly shifting out of view when they attempt to look at it.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then within the next post, snap their fingers. Anyone who hears the snapping will hear an explosion in the distance behind them. This works as an effective distraction, or a scare tactic, if properly utilized.

Kodama Saeko came from a family of third-generation shinobi, with Saeko herself becoming a member of the fourth (as a matter of fact, the only member of the fourth generation). Both her mother and father were jounin from Kumogakure who specialized in taijutsu.

She was sick and weakly as a child, and was often struck down with childhood diseases that took her a while to recover from. After much trial and error, they soon found, contrary to her parents' expectations, that she had plenty of potential for ninjutsu and genjutsu, but almost none for taijutsu. Her parents were a bit disappointed that they couldn't teach her about their super special techniques, but overall they only wanted what was best for her. Saeko was entered into the academy and somehow ended up close to the back of the class, choosing to spend time working on her own techniques and fooling around with her male classmates- her female classmates thought her too annoying and loud, despite her small stature. She even had her hair short, passing as a younger, tiny brother at first glance.

Her stamina improved marginally, what with her body growing stronger from training and her parents' genes finally coming through (just a little bit), but her real strengths lay in ninjutsu and genjutsu. Saeko was always the first one to be thrown across the room in a brawl but the last one to cry; she was determined to become the strongest despite her inability to throw a solid punch.

Of course, as young boys do, dares and pranks became a staple source of amusement, and Saeko was quickly drawn in, her mischievous nature inspired by the possibilities. Another thing pre-teen boys do is poke at girls in the hopes of either angering them or gaining their attention. Both these tendencies combined in one explosive encounter which led to Saeko standing alone in front of an old house, with the rest of her friends standing outside the gate. The dare? To enter the house, get locked in for several hours, and come back out without getting scared. Saeko was not about to back down.

Blindfolded, she was led into the house, sat down on a chair, and left alone to listen to the whistling, creaking sounds of the house. Little did she know that the future Raikage, Nakajima Hayate, was battling the "God of Thunder", as the spirit called itself nearly right over her head, or at least somewhere near her. The destruction caused by their battle leveled many of the buildings near them- including the one Saeko was in. The terrified girl was trapped in the rubble, injured and terrified, for several days, until one of the kids, feeling too guilty to keep quiet any longer, spilled his guts about what they had done. She was promptly dug out and healed. Saeko doesn't remember much of exactly what happened, but gained a new petrifying fear of houses and enclosed spaces.

At the age of 12, things began going downhill. Saeko's father began taking longer and longer missions and one day disappeared completely, taking off into the wilderness, but not before brutally injuring Saeko's mother to the point that she would never be able to walk again. Saeko's life tipped upside down, and she became obsessed with asking questions about why her father, her lovely, wonderful father, would do such a thing. No matter how many ideas she could come up with, she could never figure it out.

Saeko, in a moment of frustration, swore to become a hunter-nin, track her father down, and get the answers out of him no matter what it took. From birth she had been trained by her parents to never betray the village, and then her father had walked right out.

Arranging for her mother to stay with some family friends, Saeko threw herself into studying the arts of ninjutsu and genjutsu, and graduated the academy ready to take on the world.
