Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Mako has quite a good looking face, but he often covers it with his hair and masks. He has a well-sized nose, and eyes that are neither too far apart, not too close. Personally, Mako really liked his appearance, although he wouldn’t brag about it to anyone. He actually looks very similar to the Naegi, and he gets confused for a brother of his Naegi friend often. He has white hair that he keeps short in the back, but lets it hang down in the front, and silver eyes; the eyes give him away, as the Naegi always have gold eyes.
  • Body: Mako is in very good shape, but he never was a bulky guy. From outside his baggy clothes, no one can really tell how his body looks. He is very thin and quite muscular. He’s about average height, which works to his advantage in his missions, but he always wished he was taller.
  • Notable Features: Mako’s most notable feature is his silver eyes which are incredibly unique. He is often complemented on his eyes. Besides that, he has a small scar just above his right eye.
Clothing/Accessories:
Mako wears very bland clothes, even when he is not on a mission. He generally wears a grey, baggy shirt that covers a darker grey, tighter T-shirt. His pants match his shirt, in being both grey and baggy. His shirt has a retractable hood that he usually wears down when in the village, but put’s up when he leaves. He also wears a bandana-like mask that covers just his nose and mouth. This mast is made of black cloth. On the front, it has the image of teeth and lips stitched into it. In between the top and bottom layers of teeth, there is a zipper that can open and close, allowing Mako to eat through his mask. He ties the ends of the bandana around the back of his head, holding it in place.

Personality:
  • General: Mako is a very open-minded person. He does not have a strict set of structures in his mind that explain society, but rather believes in order from chaos. Everything, to him, is evidence of a chaotic world, one that no one person or group can control. He is a quiet person, but becomes very open with his close friends. He is not particularly selfish in terms of his policies or actions, but he does have a swelled head in that he believes he is better than everyone. He holds his skills in high esteem, and his intelligence in higher.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Mako does not have too many hopes and dreams. He was inspired by a meeting with the Kazekage that caused him to strongly support the stability of the village, even over the safety of many of his closest friends.
  • Fears: Mako fears few things, but he does worry about many. He fears instability coming from a weakening Sunagakure. He fears making mistakes, not because he is afraid of being thought a fool, but because even a small mistake can have large consequences. He also fears losing his grip on reality, which causes him to particularly fear Genjutsu, an area of attack where he has little defense. Many of these fears are coldly logical.
  • Combat Mentality: Mako thinks that he is better than everyone when it comes to battling, which leads him to be overconfident in his abilities. Still, his strength has proven him right more often then not. Due to his past, Mako also likes to make sure that his combat is wrapped up neatly; he deeply wants to avoid leaving any loose ends after a fight.

Having devoted their lives to mastering the Elemental affinities, this shinobi is classified as an Elemental Ninjutsu Specialist. Elemental specialist are able to devote a total of 10 concentrations to elemental concentrations, unlike most people who are capped at 8. The user is not able to access any specializations that are marked for Ninjutsu Specialist, but instead, can now pick up concentrations marked for Elemental Specialists. Additionally, their two additional concentrations MUST be used for elements. They cannot use them for ninpou styles. After doing the needed hand seals, the ninja creates a vector concentration on the ground, up to 15 metres away from them. The vector concentration looks as if there is a tiny mist (1 metrex1metrex1metre) in the area in the shape of an arrow that is pointing towards a certain direction. If anything touches this chakra within 3 posts it will be thrust in that direction at a speed equal to their own speed, plus 1, but lose 1 taijutsu, due to being flung. They are sent in this direction for 30 metres, unless they resist it with a strength greater than 5. After 3 posts the arrow will dissipate.

After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will kneel down and touch the ground. This will cause the ground around them for 5 metres in every direction to become a focal point. All things within this area will be thrust into the air for 8 metres, unless they resist it with a strength higher than 5.

After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will imbue a projectile they are holding with chakra. Once they have thrown that projectile, they are able to cause it to return to them at equal speed as it is currently moving at within the next 2 posts. However, this projectile is only able to travel in a direct straight line from its position to the user, and it must be within 15 metres. Any projectiles which are stationary when called to return move with 5 speed.

After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will raise up to 3 projectiles which will hover approximately 1.5m off of the ground in mid air, and set them facing in a single direction. They are then able to cause them to be launched in that direction with 5 speed and 5 strength at any time over the next 3 posts, even immediately. If they are not fired during this time, the projectiles will simply drop to the ground.

After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will cover themselves in Kuuton chakra. This enables them to augment their movements with the direction-based vector release, allowing them to move with +3 speed, but with -3 Taijutsu. The user will also float one foot off the ground during this time. This technique lasts for three posts.

After performing the required hand seals, the user will generate a wall of vectors within 10 metres of themselves. This wall is 3 metres in height and width. After performing the required hand seals, the user will generate vectors leaving their body from every direction. These vectors last barely a second but quickly travel out to one meter before vanishing. Anything these vectors hit will be pushed away with a strength of 20.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user is able to take fine control over a set of vectors. They then use these vectors to intercept a single projectile within 20 metres of the user which has less than 30 strength. The user is then able to immediately change the direction of that projectile, regardless of whether it is chakra based or otherwise, while increasing its strength by 6 but decreasing its speed by 6.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user surrounds themselves with vectors. This enables them to fly at a speed equal to their control up to a maximum of their speed, reaching a maximum of 40 metres in the air. This technique lasts for up to 5 posts if not ended prematurely.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will fire a stream of vectors visible as wiry distortions in the air toward a single target at 35 speed. Should they be unable to evade these 'wires', they will wrap themselves around one of the target's body parts and the vectors will compound it inwards until it is crushed as if with 35 strength from all directions.

Prerequisite: 40 Ninjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will gather vectors around their body before forcing them outwards in all directions. This causes a wave which appears like a distortion in the air to ripple outwards from the user at 40 speed. This wave travels up to 80 metres away, effectively slamming itself into and pushing through anything in its path with 40 strength, including the ground beneath the user. The user can increase the range of this technique by permanently sacrificing 3 stamina points per 80 metres.

Prerequisites: Ninjutsu/Control/Instinct stats of 10
This sensor jutsu is used by shinobi to feel chakra sources within a radius of 25 yards. While this jutsu is fairly helpful in sensing chakra, it is unable to actually pinpoint specific chakras outside of 10 feet. This only gives the Shinobi an idea of how many entities with chakra are present in their general area.

Prerequisites: Beyond Senses
The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and then do an additional set of hand seals. By doing so, the user will be able to compare the “strength” of each source of chakra they are able to sense to each other. The “strength” of the individual is determined by the average of each person’s Stamina, Control and Strength stats. The user can determine who has more chakra strength than others, allowing them to pick out possible risks. This technique is not very reliable as a determining factor, however.

The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and then do a second set of hand seals. For the next 5 posts, any time anyone within the range of their sensory activates a jutsu, the user will see their chakra “flare” momentarily. While they won’t know anything about the jutsu, it will give them a better idea of the battle field.

This jutsu is an extension of [Beyond Senses]. With this jutsu initiated, a sensor can focus on individual chakra signatures to get a precise idea of where their opponents are at up to 25 yards. A general sense of the direction and number of chakra sources can be determined at about 50 yards. It should be noted that this jutsu requires intense concentration, often making the user shut their eyes so they can focus on the jutsu solely. Even with high levels of Chakra Control and Instinct, this jutsu can be mentally taxing as it requires the user to sort through the individual chakra sources in the sensor’s range.

Prerequisites: Flare
Having used the flare, the user will look out for any flares. Upon noticing one, the user will immediately do a single hand seal, allowing them to determine the affinity, strength, and speed if applicable, and sense where that chakra is going specifically. This means if it’s a projectile, they’ll be able to track and see the projectile in their minds eye. If it’s a fuuinjutsu, they are able to see that a fuuinjutsu is activated, but will not be able to follow the result unless they activate this jutsu again. This jutsu is very effective due to it’s broad mechanic.

This jutsu is an even further extension of [Broad Sense]. With this jutsu, a sensor sacrifices quality for quantity. They can view to much greater distances compared to a normal sensor, but their ability to differentiate between people starts to become muddled, meaning multiple people in close proximity will appear simply as a large chakra mass, without the users being able to distinguish how many people are there. By sitting down and meditating, they are able to start to sense further and further away. For each post of meditating, they are able to see one third of a mile out, up to a max of posts equal to 1/2 their control (rounded up).

Mako was a lucky child. He was born to a wealthy trader, Aruno Notaramu, who had a home in Sunagakure. His mother had actually been a shinobi for Sunagakure, and she stopped going on missions when she had Mako, but started again when he was three. Mako has many memories of long walks with both his parents through the streets of Sunagakure. He rarely wanted for anything, often getting the best toys and all the sweets he could want. His parents often had to leave the village for their work, however, which meant Mako spent a lot of time in the village alone. He would still go on walks without his parents, but it wasn’t the same.

While his father had the cushier job, Mako was drawn to his mother’s line of work. He proved very capable at math, reading, and physical activities with private tutors, but he was insistent on being a shinobi. When he was eight years old, his parents hired a Chunin to begin his training, and he started at the Academy soon after.

He got along well with the other students. He never told anyone who his parents were, and so none of the other children knew he came from money. Instead, he spent most of the time playing with them at their houses; this worked out well, as he rarely had a reason to go home, with his parents gone so often. He excelled in his studies, making it near the top of the class, but not the top. He could have been at the top, but Mako preferred to spend his time doing other things, namely playing with friends and relaxing. He had a drive to become a shinobi, but he didn’t yet feel the need to be the best.

It wasn’t until after he began cementing relationships with his peers that he developed an almost obsessive need to be the best. Two young boys in particular, Zankuro Koreni, and Daiki Naegi. The three of them became close friends, and were terribly competitive. Mako reached the top of his class in no time, and graduated the academy when he was only twelve.

As a graduation gift, Mako’s mother began teaching him a specialized form of ninjutsu that few ninja were capable of utilizing: Kuuton. These jutsu were extremely powerful, but beyond the skills of most Genin. Mako, however, proved to have his mother talent for Kuuton. His strength grew substantially in only a few years, and when he was 15, he took his Chunin exams. The Chunin Exams for Mako were to face down another Genin, Ichima Kouseki. Ichima was a year older than Mako, and she had postponed the Chunin Exams to continue his training unabated until he had mastered his clan’s jutsu. Mako had no secret clan techniques, but he used his Kuuton to his full extent. The judges were very impressed with the battle; they were so impressed with both Mako and Ichima, that they suggested the two be paired for missions after becoming Chunin.

And so it was that Mako began working with Ichima. The two of them began traveling the country, something Mako had wanted to do for years, ever since he was a child and watched his parents leave through the window. His missions with Ichima focused mainly on rooting out criminal organizations and protecting caravans, but the two quickly became involved in intelligence gathering about a potential rebellion in the far south.

Mako and Ichima became very close, potentially too close. At first they were discreet, but their increasingly blatant displays of affection were taken note of, and the two of them were split up. Mako was placed on a team with, among others, his old friend Daiki Naegi. He was happy to have remained with his friends, but he missed Ichima a lot. The two of them were rarely in the village together, due to their busy schedules, but when they were, they spent nearly all of their time together.

It was when Mako was 17 that he lost his parents. His father had been on a trip through the south when he was captured and executed by the southern rebels. His mother, grief stricken, had requested to be sent after the rebels. However, the Land of Wind had begun negotiations with this group of rebels, seeing an end to the conflict without the need for escalating the conflict. Mako’s mother refused to take “no” for an answer, and left the village to go after the rebels. A team of ninja was sent after her, and they killed her.

Mako found himself inheriting his father’s fortune, and living in a lonely, nearly abandoned house. He fired all the servants, and allowed his father’s business partners to continue running his transactions. He retreated into his home, seeing only a few people including Daiki and Ichima. He was sent out on a few missions, but had lost his taste for that sort of work. Everything seemed so senseless. One day, however, he was visited by the Kazekage. The Kazekage convinced Mako that he was done sulking, that he should toughen up, and return to work. He did, and he became a Jounin soon after, but he was never the same.

When he was 20, another blow was struck. Ichima, who had just lost two of her best friends in a mission, was becoming skeptical of the village’s purpose. She confronted Mako asking him to leave the village with her. He refused to even entertain the idea, and she became angry. She left him, claiming that he was different. One night, later that week, Ichima tried to escape the village. Mako, who had been watching her closely, attempted to stop her. She attacked him, and the two had a rematch of the Chunin Exams on the Sunagakure border. Mako had a chance to kill Ichima, but he couldn’t carry it out. The result was that both were severely injured, and discovered by patrol ninja.

Both Ichima and Mako recovered in the infirmary, but they didn’t speak to each other again. Mako remained on a separate squad, and continued his missions, never telling anyone the truth of their battle, passing it off as a training exercise gone wrong. One day, Mako and Daiki’s team were out on a mission when they came across another ninja, Dizume Mitsuo, a shinobi from Ichima’s team. She said that Ichima turned on her comrades, attacking and killing two of them. Dizume led Mako and Daiki to Ichima. They found her wounded in a cave not far from the dead bodies of her two comrades, including Mako’s old friend Zankuro. While she was gravely wounded, Mako decided not to take any chances. He killed her there, smashing her skull to pieces.

Mako returned to the village and reported everything that happened. After his last mission, he asked to be sent on missions alone, preferring to act without his friends. He felt more safe when he was alone, and started spending more of his free time in his inherited mansion, with his inherited money.
