♦Personality Pre-ConditioningShow Birth to Age 10 Shen is complex, mostly due in part to how he was raised and conditioned. He is extremely intelligent like his true mother, except while she chose to lower her intelligence in an attempt to blend in with others Shen didn't. As a result he comes across as distant simply because he looks like any adolescent, yet uses diction advanced for his years and acts like an adult which is disconcerting to most. He doesn't bother trying to act his age nor does he want to and is quite content with not hiding his intelligence, and engaging in things which will occupy his time most effectively. He is studious and is something of a book worm, preferring to read and train with his “family” above all things. He is rather determined to prove his worth to his parents and fulfill their hopes for their experiments. He is very open minded to new ideas and new philosophies on life, he prefers not to judge but he dislikes associating with “stupid” people, though it has been drilled into his mind that anyone below his own level of intelligence should be classified as such. Perhaps the most interest he has in anything is technology, seeing as he was born within the village known for their puppeteers and their advancements with mechanisms used in the creation of their tools. He is obsessed with it all and thus loves going over magazines detailing the latest advances in it. He enjoys tinkering with puppets and the like immensely, preferring doing such over the company of others more often than not. When in combat he is quite vicious, and is prone to using excessive force on his opponents as he was trained to do so by his parents in order to reach their goal of molding the perfect weapon. As he was young, highly intelligent and blessed with an eidetic memory, he was trained into the ground and eagerly came back for more. Throughout all of his training he had learned to use his intelligence to plan ahead and take apart an opponent with surgical precision. Post-ConditioningShow Age 11 to 14 Entering the period of his life where he could be considered a “pre-teen”, Shen’s parents finished his formative conditioning and began the more complex process of completely molding his personality to their liking. They ran several psychological tests and exercises in order to make him express specific character traits they desired, using his “mother” as a base template and his original personality for additional filler traits. The process was a success though his father decided to modify key-traits mainly to further cement his loyalty to their village and “family” above all others. While successfuly, the process was distorted due to Shen’s eidetic memory. While he retained all memory of his old life, their conditioning transcribed a new outlook over all his life experiences. Thus, rather than all the traits they desired being integrated into Shen’s being, few were fused and others were altered completely while still resulting in a mix that satisfied the goals of the experiment: Mother's Traits: Lewd, Thrill-Seeking, Vicious, Blunt, Loyal Shen’s Traits: Aloof, Quiet, Studious, Innovative, Awkward Father’s Conditioning: Cold, Callous, Racist, Proud, Obedient Final Result: Pragmatic, Audacious, Innovative, Loyal, Vicious, Sultry, Self-Serving, Charismatic Shen’s resultant personality is someone who fights for the thrill of the battle and also likes inflicting pain on his foes. He also has some “femme fatale” elements inherited from his mother, as he sometimes makes provocative and suggestive remarks toward his opponents, and leaves those he was working with for his own reasons. Although he possesses an extremely high intellect perhaps one of the highest in the world, often it isn't shown during normal interactions or outside of battle. This is due to him typically to be a cunning and a somewhat reckless fighter with an angry urge to cause destruction to those who earn his scorn. He is a calculating individual, callous to his arch enemies at times, and treats his allies as pawns only if it is necessary. Towards his enemies he is rather vicious, as he is the type of person who is capable of distancing his own personal feelings from his actions and if motivated enough is rather vengeful often repaying those who have wronged him many times over. While typically rule abiding he has no qualms with ignoring the rules at times to achieve his own goals however he is loyal to the his village and family above all others and seeks to protect and serve them no matter the cost. When it comes to his goals, he intends to accomplish them no matter what hurdles he may face; willing do anything: lie, steal, kill and even betray to do so as he has no express moral compass. Those who manage to endear themselves to him do have his loyalty as he would do anything for his loved ones assuming they do not cross him or try to undermine his goals. Those that do he cuts all affection off and treats them as if they were his enemies. At the crux he is rather self-serving. He can be regarded as a highly functional sociopath with a twist as he genuinely cares about his family more than even his own life but other than that he puts himself first, loved one's second and allies third until they either cross him or are no longer useful after which they are lumped with everyone else or, even worse, his enemies. Post-SplitShow Age 15 to Current Due in part to brain trauma he received as a result of a mission, the conditioning he underwent to form him into a dangerous tool and his own eidetic memory, Shen’s mind was fractured and essentially broken into many different parts. These parts expressed themselves as different personalities, each one seemingly in opposition of all others. This fracturing rendered Shen almost completely mentally unstable, though through the efforts of psychological treatment and the workings of his “original” mind, he was able to reintegrate his mind into five distinct personalities. He was incapable of fully repairing his mind, though he found he was able to function decently with his multiple personalities. Despite this, the stress of multiple personalities weighed heavily on his mind, an almost constant threat of fracturing into many minds looming over Shen’s head. Through the use of a unique ability he had inherited from his true mother, he managed to learn how to rearrange his mind in a way that was most suited towards him so that he didn't go insane the pressure of his own mind. This split his psyche even further, allowing him to direct those personality traits which he no longer identified with to his Splits so they could express them and allow him to shut them off without missing out on whatever benefits those traits gave him. Shen - The Original's Traits: Self-Serving, Innovative, Callous Shen - The King’s Traits: Vicious, Lewd, Audacious, Thrill-Seeking Shen - The Ranger's Traits: Aloof, Proud, Blunt, Loyal Shen - The Assassin's Traits: Charismatic, Quiet, Sultry, Pragmatic Shen - The Scientist's Traits: Cold, Studious, Obedient, Awkward Shen (The Original) is a sociopath, who is capable of mimicking feelings and social cues only due to the memories of housed within his mind, he cares for no one, other than himself and will use anyone to accomplish his goals. There is no limit to what he is willing to do to obtain the things he wants regardless of the ethical or political ramifications that may result due to his actions. He has no loyalties in fact the only reason he follows the few rules he does is because of exceptions which were laid before he split his mind fully. These exceptions are those belonging to his family and those who are current citizens of Sunagakure, everyone else are just puppets for him the manipulate and use accordingly whether they know it or not. Things in his life are categorized as “Personal Belongings”, “Beloved Puppets”, “Potential Threats”, “Harvest Materials” and “Useless Fodder”. To that end he has recognized that society as a whole is not acceptable to his goals and has become somewhat of a recluse preferring to spend his time building his puppets rather than interacting with others. The only time he personally interacts with others is for his own benefit, as no one in the world could ever make him do anything that he doesn't want to do anymore. |
♦Appearance | In the Eye of the BeholderShow Shen is a rather effeminate youthful male with chestnut brown hair cut short into a style much akin to a bob that frames his face and accentuates his dark red eyes. His skin is like porcelain and nearly flawless however, it is marked by the four Digitized Storage seals placed upon the insides of his wrists, the back of his neck and the small of his back, and a small beauty mark on the right hand corner of his mouth. His limbs are willowy but not without their own strength to them. His fingers are long and dexterous, like a musician or a painter, and he moves his body with the grace of someone well accustomed to dancing. In his casual attire, he wears a white button up shirt, a black vest with golden buttons, black slacks, a long jacket with golden trim and floral designs on the lapel, a crimson scarf about his neck and his trusty skates on his feet. While out on covert operations or when in combat situations, he has taken to wearing a sleeveless mid-riff shirt over a fishnet one that covers about half his stomach. He wears a wrap around his waist that is much like a skirt, with a slit down the front in order to allow his legs free range of movement. Under this "skirt" he wears black biker shorts. His calves, lower abdomen and forearms are often wrapped in white cloth, while his skates adorn his feet and fingerless gloves cover his hands. In both instances, he can be seen wearing nail polish in shades of red and black. He also chooses to wear his forehead protector as a belt around his waist, due to the article possessing an extra long sash for just that purpose. His forehead protector is a reminder of his time as a proud citizen of Sunagakure, despite the large slash through the village symbol. |
♦History | Experiment 7436-97Show Shen was born to a young mother that could not support a child, due to her own health issues as well as the fact that she would have to do so without any support whatsoever. Thus she made the decision to put him up for adoption, to allow another family, another mother, give him what she couldn’t. After his birth she held him for what seemed like days and gave him a name, the name she had wanted to give her firstborn son since she started dreaming of having children of her own. Then he was gone, whisked away to something better than her. Shen, unlike many orphans, had the luck to be adopted rather soon after his birth. Shin and Ai Osuna took him into their growing family to raise him as their own. The new loving parents that taken him in were, unbeknownst to those who handled the orchestration of adoptions, scientists specialized in behavioral modification, predominantly in children. They belonged to a group that had constructed a project that was designed to mold children into the perfect defenders, the perfect weapons for their village. Due to the views of the village as a whole, the children were not modified on a genetic level, but many were given supplements to enhance their natural capabilities. Many of the children were average and unremarkable, however there were a select few that showed certain gifts that warranted special attention. From his birth, it was assumed that Shen would be one of the former, rather than the latter. But they were to be proved wrong. Shen met his developmental milestones much quicker than any other child, his brain soaking in knowledge like an endless vaccuum, always ready to take in more. It was obvious that his intellect was far beyond what was normal even for a gifted child. More and more attention was paid to him as discoveries were made about his mind, such as his eidetic memory and his ability to replicate that which was being taught to him with little more than one showing of it. While he was being trained, his mind was also being molded to bear unwavering loyalty to his village and “family”, so that if the time ever came their tool would not turn against them. His obsession with puppetry began when he was training young, as many puppeteers existed in the village of his birth, seeing as the art was invented there. He would watch with rapt attention as a puppeteer moved their creation about, designing schematics for his own puppets in his mind and imagining what it would be like to actually create one. His favorite reading subject became that of puppetry and puppets themselves. The history of the art, the intricacies of making a puppet, the work that goes into designing each component and so on. He would spend hours and hours simply reading all that was offered on puppets, knowing he would one day design his own. While he would interact with the other children, his social skills were rather stiff and strained. His “parents” had trained him to believe that intellect was the defining factor in a person, and that anyone who wasn’t as smart or smarter than he weren’t worth his time, after all “why waste your intellect on those too stupid to understand?”. This made him awkward and oftentimes condescending when he tried to socialize with his “siblings”, though they still came to forge bonds as family. The Perfect SoldierShow Upon reaching the age at which many children would enter the academy, Shen had already developed the skill set of a Genin that had been trained extensively in their craft. However, before he was officially entered into the academy to be “trained”, his parents wanted to make sure that the second phase of their experiment was completed so others wouldn’t be able to easily catch onto the change in their son. He was submitted to a variety of psychological tests and conditioning exercises, many of them including the use of mind-altering illusions to gain the desired effect. For months, Shen went through these processes in a form of haze, barely remembering what happened to him from day to day. This began to worry him, as his brain was wired to remember every detail of everything he ever saw or did, but his caretakers were quick to eliminate the worry through various...means. The conditioning was an overall success, resulting in Shen becoming an exemplary killing machine, the perfect tool primed for use during any conflict the village may face. He was entered into the academy, though was only there for a few short months before he passed and exited. He was placed on a team composed of other members of his “family” and instructed to work alongside them as though they had never actually met before. They did so, completing missions and training as normal, while also completing the regimens set forth by their parents. Shen trained in Kugutsu and build his First Era collection of puppets, based on a story he had been told as a child. While on missions he discovered that more than a few changes had occurred in his psyche after his conditioning, including the development of rather strong sadomasochistic urges and tendencies. Shen put all that his mind kept reminding him was different about him onto a permanent back burner and completed his trainings and missions as instructed, delving deeper and deeper into his work with his puppets as a form of coping mechanisms. He had to convince himself that his parents knew best, that they wouldn’t do anything to purposely hurt him or break him in any way. He eventually convinced himself and was able to move forward on the path that was laid out for him. He completed the Chunin Exams with ease, though “completing” is the modest word for it. He had been able to pick his opponent’s style apart within the first thirty seconds of the match, from that point on avoiding all of their strikes and drawing the match out as a way of showing off. Once he had felt the match had gone on for long enough, he defeated his opponent within a minute flat, with both hands clasped behind his back and without the use of any of his puppets. Others began to view him as a particularly efficient monster, but his parents merely saw their greatest success story... Divided We Rise, United We StandShow Shen had fallen into a routine that included training, going on missions when he was told, and then tinkering with puppets when he didn’t have to train or do missions. Of course, there was time allotted for eating and sleeping but no more than strictly necessary for his survival and keeping his body working in top shape. He was promoted to a Special Jonin due to “excellence that far exceeds what is expected of the average Chunin”, and started being sent on harder missions on his own more frequently. He relished the challenge, as it meant he would be able to push himself to his limits and eventually surpass them. His life’s normalcy was brought to an end after a particularly taxing mission. It wasn’t too much for him, but his opponents had gotten in a lucky shot that lead to minor brain trauma that threw him off his game. From there on, he was barely able to put up defenses against their barrage of attacks and was more susceptible to their mental assaults. Though he defeated them, all of what had transpired culminated in mental damage that set his brain into a downwards spiral. His mind attempted to correct itself with the aid of his eidetic memory, though the trauma and the conditioning he underwent made the process impossible and thus, instead of correcting the itself, Shen’s mind was split into many different fragments. All of these fragments manifested as independent and often opposing personalities. In an effort to save their greatest creation, his parents and a group of their top psychologists attempted to correct his mind themselves. They used many methods similar to that of their conditioning, with several genjutsu aimed towards stabilizing one’s mental state thrown in. After extensive work, they were able to reintegrate Shen’s mind, though it was only a partial success. Instead of returning him to one, whole mind, they were only able to consolidate the different fragments into five distinct personalities. They simply didn’t want to waste any more time trying to fix a tool that would work just as well with the repairs they had already made. Despite his pleading, Shen was assured that there was nothing else they could do and that even so he would be fine. After all, living with five voices in your head where there used to be one should be a cakewalk...Shen’s core personality tried to reassure himself that his parents knew best but the others were quick to push forward arguments to the contrary. He quickly came to the realization that they cared only for keeping the tool they worked so hard to form in working shape. They had never truly cared for him, no matter what they professed. Five minds of great intelligence were greater than one, and with all of his personalities agreeing on the fact that they no longer held a place in Sunagakure, deciding on escaping was easy. Shen disguised himself as a puppet with a well honed use of the transformation technique and hid away in a merchant caravan, making their way easily from the village from there. Shen has since made his way across the lands, finding a method of splitting his mind even further so that his other personalities may work separately from his core and exist on their own. They would all work together to achieve the goals of the collective, refusing to let anyone control or lie to them as their beloved “family” once had…. |

♦Equipment | Castillion Castillion is a pair of special skates forged specifically at Shen's request. These skates appear to be more like boots, extending to just below Shen's knees. The skates are solid black, with royal purple wheels and accents. The wheels bear black designs upon them much akin to curling, multi-headed snakes. These are simply the base skates. They appear to have metal bindings attached to them, holding it snuggly against the male's legs though not chaffing in the slightest. The attachment also places blades like ice skates over the wheels, still allowing for rotatory movements but also adding a deadly edge to the weapons. The true purpose of these skates are not just for ease of movement, they also hold the ability to conduct chakra through them. This allows Shen to channel his chakra into them in order to use technique such as Water or Tree Walking without fear of it failing. |
Ninjutsu Specialist Having devoted their lives to mastering the arts of Ninjutsu, this shinobi is classified as a Ninjutsu Specialist. Ninjutsu specialist are able to devote a total of 10 concentrations to Ninjutsu, unlike most people who are capped at 8. However, they are only able to devote a max of 5 concentrations to Taijutsu, and a max of 5 concentrations to Genjutsu. As a Ninjutsu Specialist, Shen is able to utilize Ninjutsu concentrations reserved for specialists, and is able to enter the God Tier [45+] on select stats, and meaning as a specialist they can select stats to break into the God tier. These stats can only be Ninjutsu, Speed, Control and Instinct. |
♦Abilities [2/3] | Doppelganger This is a specialized ability, passed down through Shen's bloodline on his mother's side, though it has remained in obscurity for many decades. It allows the user to split their body into identical, yet entirely independent duplicates of themselves. Unlike techniques that only make visual copies of the user, this ability initiates an actual physical separation that makes permanent duplicates, equipped with their own personality and ability to reason, think and feel. The creation of a duplicate means that even if one is incapacitated, the other remains completely unaffected and as neither can truly be regarded as the original, the duplicates cannot be dispelled like normal clones merely killed like a normal individual. The duplicates are identical to the user in appearance, however their similarity ends there as their abilities, physical attributes and even chakra affinities are capable of being changed from the original's, the duplicate being modified to gain capabilities based on their own personality and preference (i.e. stat allocation, concentration choice etc). The user's innate affinity is carried over to any duplicate, though they do not need to utilize that affinity and may have access to others. Each split is treated as a normal henchman companion and thus take a companion slot to make. As such the user is only capable of making as many splits as they have companion slots. They start at user's current rank at the time of their creation (i.e. If the user is a B-rank MN, the split forms a B-rank Henchman), gaining starting stats and points to allocate based on that rank. A split must be created through an appropriately ranked Plotboard dedicated to creating the split, with the user and the newfound split being treated as though they possess the user's [Stamina/2] for the duration of the plotboard, due to the strain of the split weakening them greatly. The process of splitting is rather simple, with the split emerging from some point on the original's body (back, side etc) and happens nigh instantaneously, though it takes most of the user's energy to perform once. The user is capable of recombining with their splits at any time, gaining all of the knowledge and memories of that split, however jutsu the split possessed aren't able to be accessed unless the original possesses the prerequisites (stats, concentrations etc.) for said jutsu, though the split retains them if the splitting process occurs again. Weapons and items the split had are transferred to the original upon recombination, so long as they are capable of storing the items on their person. Anything other than jutsu and weapons as listed above (start up jutsu points, stat increases, abilities etc) are completely unable to be accessed by the original upon recombination, only being available to the split if they are created once more. After recombination, the user is capable of splitting again, the process being the same as the first split, though due to the nature of the Doppelganger, they maintain the same personality, stats, concentrations, jutsu, memories and experiences that they had before the recombination. Due to the nature of a split, they exist even when recombined, and thus occupy a henchman slot until their death. | Companion Master This character specializes in the organization of others, and has committed part of their time in coordinating themselves with pets, spirits, or henchmen in combat. This gives the user of this ability four[4] companions, each companion is separate from the other and can be any type of companion. There is no limit to ranks for companions. |
♦Ninjutsu Concentrations | Storage & Force Fuuinjutsu This user is able to utilize Storage Fuuinjutsu and Force Fuuinjutsu, making it possible for them to utilize any jutsu with the Storage or Force Classification. Storage Fuuinjutsu can be used to store supplies, weapons, armor, or anything in between. Force Fuuinjutsu are used to release, counteract, and capture energy. | Iijutsu This concentration allows for the user to user chakra to affect the biological processes of a living creature. This includes modifying, speeding up, or slowing down the biological processes. Iijutsu is known for it's advanced nature and requires precise chakra control to work effectively. It can be differentiate from normal techniques by the faint light green colour of the chakra used in Iijutsu techniques. | Kugutsu The Kugutsu [Puppetry] style is an old, tradition-bound style limited to Sunagakure ninjutsu only, due to the secret techniques. The user learns to utilize the tenketsu on their fingers to create strings of chakra, which can be used to control a multitude of things. Most users focus primarily on the use of puppets, wooden, or partially wooden contraptions. Puppeteers as they are called, rely on high control. Those with this concentration lose their free companion, and must use the companion ability to gain companions. | Human Puppetry Having educated themselves in the human body, the user has learned how to control the human body through Kugutsu. Additionally, they have learn how to transform a dead body into a puppet, retaining it’s unique concentrations from when they were still alive. | Sensory Sensors are shinobi who are able to activate a sixth sense which can locate and read chakra sources. Sensory is advantageous as it allows shinobi to perceive without using any of their conventional senses, which can easily be deceived. Sensors are able to collect a lot of information through the interpretation of this sixth sense. |
