Sage form feedback?

Hello Saigen!


This is what I've got so far for Sage form. I intend Senjutsu to be a completely new way to level the playing field. I apologize that the organization is kind of...ugly, but it's just to get feedback while I develop it.

I'm definitely happy to open this up to anyone who wants it + mod approval for it to be a standard/archived form and tree. Once the stats are fixed up/tuned, I'll probably develop a Senjutsu tree for use, both a Taijutsu and Ninjutsu.

Sage Training
Senjutsu is a specialised field of techniques that allows the user to sense and then gather natural energy. Senjutsu practitioners learn to draw the energy of nature inside of them, blending it with their own chakra. This adds a new dimension of power to the practitioner's chakra, resulting in the creation of "senjutsu chakra".Those that can absorb or manipulate senjutsu chakra are known as Sage. Generally, senjutsu chakra cannot be used by those untrained in senjutsu; those who are enter a form called Sage Mode, increasing their physical parameters for as long as the mode is active. While Sage mode is activated, the user gets additional points added to their jutsu using the below table. As it's senjutsu chakra being mixed with personal chakra, it does count for the jutsu limitations of regular useage. Sages may only begin their training if they meet the following requirements: One rank above average stamina An animal aspect to follow (including but not limited to summons) One Ability slot No more then two sages per village. Enhanced Ninjutsu utilize the following table: [/center] Senjutsu Enhancements D - Rank C - Rank B - Rank A - Rank S - Rank 2 points4 points 6 points 8 points 10 points[/center] Imperfect Sage Form The user has nearly finished their training and has almost achieved a Sage form to a basic level. The user takes on up to one animistic trait, can use up to B-Ranked Sage Techniques, and receives a small stat boost. Requires 10 Mastery Points Receives + 5 points to first stat, +3 to the second stat, +2 to the third stat. + One Non-combat Animistic trait Drawback : Only lasts for five posts. (Additional post count per 5 points of stamina)

The user has completed their Sage training and achieved a full Sage form. The user takes up to two animistic traits, and can use up to A-Ranked Sage Techniques, whilst receiving a moderate stat boost.


Requires 20 Mastery Points

Receives + 10 points to any one stat, + 6 to the second stat, +4 to the third stat. + Two Non-combat Animistic traits

Drawback : Only lasts for six posts. (Additional post count per 5 points of stamina)

Sage Form Mastered

The user has mastered Sage Form to it's highest degree and became a legend amongst the Sages. The user takes on up to three animistic traits and can use S - Ranked Sage Techniques.

Required 30 Mastery Points

Receives + 15 points to any one stat, +8 to second stat, +7 to third stat. + Three Non-combat Animistic traits


Drawback : Only lasts for eight posts. (Additional post count per 5 points of stamina) [/table]

Why not do this via a mastery stat? Plot Boards would then allow you to literally "train" it.

Also, beyond boosting, you should introduce some kind of mechanic that makes this worth while. Otherwise it's pretty much pointless~

That's the intention, The points are to be mastery points.

And the bonus is really strong jutsu, boosts, and a bigger chakra pool.

But I need feedback on how to balance that out.

Then why are you subtracting stats/debuffing yourself equal to your buffs?

Cause thats the rules as written. Drawbacks have to happen for every boost according to boost rules.

Well that solves that problem then, I'll remove the jutsu restrictions.

Personally I like the idea, two questions?

1.When you say they take on animistic traits, is there a specific animal? Is the rule of 2 per animal, or for all of them? (that's a bit of an extension question)

2. Will you be adding archive sage techs to this idea?

1. No, its up to the user to choose. Once I get these approved I'm going to add it to Hayasu under Monkeys, to make him essentially Kumo's Monkey Sage. Typically speaking from a lore standpoint, I think itd be cooler to have 1 animal aspect per any given village at a point, but not everyone wants the same animal aspects. So I'll probably fix it to 2 aspects, 2 sages per village.

2. Yup! That's the intention, jutsu will come after mechanics.

Sage form is something I've been wanting in the RP since it came out in the manga, it's pretty cool to see it coming close to finally being a part of the Saigenverse.

I have a few questions; how would the stat boosts work with the new rules on stat boosting (can't go past 45 without specialty)?

I'd imagine a fully realized sage would be a force to be reckoned with by themselves, in which case the stat boosts they receive would be capped at either 45 (w/o specialty) or 39 (w/ specialty, but under the assumption that people are going to train their selected 50 stats as high as they can).

Am I correct in my interpretation? A long absence and major rule changes, I'm doing my best to get up to speed.
