Should keep the CBox?

All right, hear me out. It's just a thought.

I would like to consider what the site would be like without the box. I'm not going to get into all the pros and cons, but from what I remember of the last 6 or so years on the site, most of the drama and negative aspects of the site have gone down in the public box.

Of course it's supposed to be a place where new members can ask questions, but I wonder if it sometimes does more harm than good. Those of us that have been around for a while have gotten used to the trolling atmosphere that seeps into the box around popular times. Most of the time it's all good fun, but sometimes things get out of hand. Clearly such issues could come from forum posting, but I think it might be fewer instances, since most of the time people take more time to think about what they say on the forum than on the box.

Now, chat isn't a bad thing. Most of us have Skype, and there's always the board PM system. Staff still has their box, and people could even go to the same box we have below, but through a link. If a new member has a question they post on the forum, they could be linked to a chatbox where they could talk through the issue with a staff member.

I don't mean this to be any kind of offense and I'm not saying anyone is at fault for anything at all. I just wonder what would happen to the overall quality and atmosphere of the site, along with new member retention, if we got rid of the official box.

I dunno the problem I am having but I can't even see the CBox. Maybe it's best to just dump it if it's causing all dat drama.

If someone doesn't like the cbox, they're welcome to not use it. I don't see a reason to remove a feature that some people enjoy, just because others don't, when they could easily opt of it.

I think there should be a selection that a person can toggle on or off that turns off the cbox. not like the toggle we used to have, cus that wouldn't last between pages, I mean like a legit on/off switch.

Face removed the box for all of 30 minutes once and there was a fucken riot as a result.
