So it's my birthday, and points are all well and good, but I had an idea. What about a birthday wish? It's be like the wish threads a while back, but youd get one a year on your birthday instead of the five points.

I like it, but wishes were often denied and if the wish can only equal 5 points there's not much you can ask for that just the points wouldn't get.

I figure since it's been a once a year thing maybe the wish could be something like twenty points equivalent

I think I like the wish idea better. The five point thing is old, prices have raised since then, so its hardly anything. Wishes would be much more awesome. (with a higher limit than five points ofc)

And instead out outright denying so the person winds up with nothing, perhaps allow some discussion until something is agreed upon?

I think our point values have gone up twice since then? It'd have to go up to at least 15 to be up to date in my opinion.

But like I said, I think this wish thing makes far more sense and going along with the idea of the wishes being "within reason" instead of being denied, they can talk it out.

Like if someone wishes for gaining their A Rank summon without a pb and the staff says no, maybe compromise at getting the A rank in a C rank mission? (downgrading the requirement)

I like that, Kat. So in the end, there's always the fallback of "15 points" or whatever, so that if the person feels the staff is being unreasonable (not that this would ever happen) then they can always just fall back on the 15, but if they're creative, maybe they can work out something else.

Yeah that's a much better reward and incentive. I've been on the site for years and I dont think I've ever actually claimed birthday points because it was always an afterthought that hardly even appealed to me, even when it's free 5 points feels rather insignificant.

5 points... that's a B rank jutsu lol, thats nothing. And i've been saying that forever. I would totally support an update / change to the birthday reward.

For the sake of us dumb new people. What was 5 points worth at the introduction of birthday rewards?

Before jutsu prices changed, it kinda was, but not really. The birthday thing was never meant to be a big reward.

I'm all for new things happening on the site, but just trying to keep the original intent in mind.

Yeah it was never meant to be an overly substantial reward but it has gotten worse and worse with the years given it has never been updated.

Back when the 5 points were first introduced that was how much you got for a perfect thread grading, your max possible was a 5 and that was next to impossible to get. If I remember correctly back then you could count on one hand the amount of people who had actually received that grade.

Which is why it seemed like a fairly decent reward. It wasn't compared to what you could buy with it (which admittedly I don't remember) but it was compared to an entire thread's worth of work.

So it actually did feel like a substantial reward.

Oh yeah, that does make sense and should be taken into consideration also.

What is happening with this?

Reward is just meant to be a basic point thing. Its not meant to be worth a whole lot, there's no need for it to be anything more than the five points it is now. So we're gonna leave it where its at. Its not meant to be rewarding, its basically, hey here's your birthday.
