Niku had met some really interesting people so far in Fur Country. She'd encountered a chuunin from Kirigakure, some samurai, and even some spear users from The Holy City of Towers. Niku had watched them spar for a few hours, having been really impressed with their ability and the spear as a weapon. It was such an amazing event that allowed young genin, like her, to meet people from all over the world, including other ninja villages. In regards to some villages, meeting those shinobi in any other setting would likely be a much more stressful situation, possibly life and death. However, in this setting, enemies, friends, acquaintances, and strangers could come together in relative safety.

Of course, with so many keen to learn new things from strangers and others keen to show off their newest skills, training grounds were hard to come by. Despite that, Niku and Masaru had managed to reserve a training ground. Naturally, they'd invited Mafuyu to join them, but the only time that they could get the training ground was nearly three in the morning, so she'd opted to sleep instead. Niku didn't blame her, but watching all of the amazing combatants throughout the day had really gotten Niku's blood going and she couldn't sleep anyways. She wondered if the day would come when someone looked at her at this Festival and admired her skill.

Because she couldn't sleep, Niku had arrived to the training ground early. At first, she watched a master teach a pupil Shinden techniques, though he seemed to have a pretty good basic physiology, so he picked them up abnormally quickly. Niku could only assume that he was proficient with the sword in some other style. She found a small, unused corner of the ground and began some training on her own. She set up a piece of paper, hanging from a dummy's arm. The training had been suggested by her grandfather before Niku'd left. The basis was simple, draw your sword at the sheet of paper in an effort to score the paper. Too soft would send the sheet flapping in the wind, while too hard would slice the sheet in half. This training was all about her ability to accurately gauge the distance and properly handle her body.

After taking a deep breath, Niku's right hand drew one of her Cardinal Directions towards the hanging sheet. Having overcompensated for her fear of slicing the sheet in half, she missed it entirely. She wasn't defeated though, or, she didn't feel defeated. She'd accomplish this task for sure before she returned home from Fur Country.

Hearing about the spear user from the Holy City of Towers from Niku, Masaru had become exceptionally excited. Coupled with his night terrors, he was pretty much assured not to get any sleep that night. So at about one in the morning a whole two hours before he was supposed to meet with Niku at the training grounds, Masaru was already training with his beautiful lance.

Hearing the stories about the spear users got his motivation for training going. He decided to focus on developing a new style of techniques that focused on speed. As a Senju Masaru was rather in touch with nature had drawn inspiration for his first style. Once more he was going to utilize the forces of Nature to develope a series of new techniques. This time instead of focusing on the solidity and weight of the earth, he was drawing inspiration from a storm. Flashes of lightening and fierce swift winds were the source of his ideas this time around. The style would decidely focus on fast overwhelmingly quick strikes. However before he could begin to design and practice new techniques, he'd have to increase his speed to match the style he was attempting.

He'd begin with a series of stretches and warm up exercises to prepare his muscles. the stretches increased his flexibility to keep his muscles loose while the simple exercises like squats and push ups warmed his muscles up getting them ready for the exertion. Following prepping his body Masaru would practice stances with his lance. with slow deliberate movements Masaru would reaffirm the familiarity he had with his weapon and establish his spacing. this would help prevent him from damaging the room he was in accidentally as he practiced. it'd do him no good if he had to pay extra charges for damaging the room.

His first exercise to boost his speed was using his lance to keep a rubber ball from touching the ground. In what seem like an exotic style of dance, Masaru would spin slash and thrust his polearm around in a deadly yet beautiful manner. Beads of sweat would drip down his forehead as he focused, the air in the room intense. too much force would bounce the ball to high to challenge his speed, yet using to little and moving too slow would result in missing the target or worse destroying it.

It was during this exercise that his alarm went off disrupting his rhythm causing him to slice the ball in two. Looking at the alarm Masaru would begin to feel a cold sweat as he realized he was late in leaving. If he didn't hurry he'd be late meeting up with Niku and it was not wise to keep a lady waiting. Holstering his lance on his back using the specially designed baldric/pauldron.

Taking off in a Sprint pushing his legs as fast as they will go ignoring the small tears in the muscles due to over exerting himself. The tears were inconsequential as after a short rest period upon his arrival theyd heal up as if they'd never happened. Arriving somewhat out of breath yet on time he'd straighten out his attire and head over to Niku who was already absorbed in her training. "Did I make you wait long? Or did you just want to get a head start?." He'd look at her noting the slight persperation on her skin opening the conversation with a warm smile on his face.

Niku turned as she heard the familiar voice. "No, I just got started really." Despite her strong desire to train and grow stronger, Niku hadn't really planned anything for once the two arrived. She had her individual training, but individual training wasn't likely to enhance Squad 15's teamwork very much. Her mind tried to come up with something quick on the spot, but she failed to come up with anything short of running. She turned back to her own training, taking a deep breath to steady herself. Her hand drifted to the hilt of her blade once more, drawing her sword at the hanging paper. Unfortunately, the paper was no longer a single sheet, but two smaller pieces of unconnected paper.

With a grunt of frustration, she turned back to Masaru. "It's harder than it looks," she stated without going into what she was actually trying to do. "So... I know we've had this on the books for the last day, but I didn't really plan anything for us to do. Did you? I mean, I've got individual training I could work on, but..." Niku trailed off, feeling like the conclusion was obvious and need not be said.

"I actually had an idea that could work for us both. In fact it can even be kinda fun as we can make a game out of it. Don't let the sack hit the ground. That is the objective. However each person can only hit the sack three times before they have to pass it to the other person. Also too much strength and the darn thing will explode or travel too far, too little and it won't travel far enough for your partner to hit it back. Final rule is that you can't touch the sack with your hands. If you want to up the difficulty start moving around as you juggle the sack. How does that sound?"

Masaru would pull a small pink sack out of his pocket. It was something he'd bought in town the day before at a stand selling small toys. The toy was a small square made of cloth about 4 inches on each side and about an inch thick. Inside the cloth, as he'd found out the hard way, was a mixture of rice glitter and confetti. He'd start bouncing the tiny little sack on his knees to give a bit of a demo. He would bounce the sack on one knee first then, he'd bounce the sack between both knees. The third part of his little demo is that he'd start using his other body parts like his feet or elbows. And as the final challenge he'd begin to move in a circle around Niku as he demonstrated the training, gradually moving faster. After doing a few loops around her, all while bouncing the pink square off various body parts, he'd kick the sack over to her. "Give it a try and tell me what you think. Oh and don't worry if you bust it, I bought quite a few of them as I kept breaking them when I first tried it. I'm still finding glitter in my armor."

He'd smile at Niku as he pictured her getting covered in various colors of glitter. It was a rather interesting mental picture to say the least. Thankfully his blush was hidden due to his face already being flush from his earlier training. Masaru would shake his head to clear such unnecessary thoughts from his mind so as not to be distracted. He' smile as he watched her first attempt with the toy. The color of the sack indicated the color of the glitter inside. If she wasn't careful she would look like she'd been hit by a pink glitter bomb.
