The moment he caught wind of what had occured, Ieyasu left his desk at the academy and took off through the campus, heading straight for the infirmary. As Raikage Hayate knew that Yasu was to be taught at this academy, he made sure that the infirmary had staff on hand capable of Tenkujutsu, those who were able to deal with Yasu's special case. And of course, a few of the other teachers were also handlers of the genma, Ieyasu and the other taking turns watching over the young girl to ensure all was well. In this instant though, all was not as well as Roku had hoped. "Damn it, I had hoped we'd have more time here before one of those took place on campus..." He muttered to himself as he cut a path through the campus, arriving at the infirmary and speeding through the halls.

It took him little time to get directions from the staff, arriving at the side of the young girl in her private medical room while she slept. She seemed unharmed, peaceful even, but no doubt that even had been quite tumultuous for her. "Well shit, that's two of your unlocks I was absent for... Some guardian I am, huh?" He couldn't help but be a little hard on himself, but it had just been the way things worked out; he was just not on shift for this one, and the last one was caused by him... or rather, his defeat at the hands of Shinjiro. The room was small, but had a couple of chairs inside it for Ieyasu or other guests to sit.

For the time being, he was alone with Yasu.

He wouldn't be alone for long.

The physicians and nurses had been required to order the genin to sit down and receive treatment for his arm, he was so determined to follow Yasu into the secure wing of the infirmary. The adrenaline and his shock from everything that had transpired had helped him ignore the majority of the pain he would have endured from having his skin literally burn and flake off of the muscles on his arm. It was fortuitous that this incident had occurred so early into the semester, as Ookuri and Yasu were the only two patients in the infirmary when he came in cradling the kunoichi's spine-laden body in his arms. He'd received several gashes and puncture wounds from these spikes, which he had also ignored. It was only when he was forced to sit down and the adrenaline finally wore off that he felt the pain flood his senses. As Iijutsu specialists worked to slowly regenerate the skin over his muscles, he felt every inch of the literal hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of nerve endings that had been burned to a crisp be regrown and regenerated, and it was all happening while his muscles felt like they were being grated by coarse sandpaper. Despite all of this, he managed to maintain consciousness. He would not allow himself to rest until he made sure that Yasu was okay. Misplaced or otherwise, the young man believed himself to blame for what had happened. If he'd simply kept to himself, if he hadn't burdened her with his condition...

The guilt was keeping him going just as much as the pain.

Not a moment after they'd finished regrowing the skin and wrapping his entire hand and forearm in bandages to prevent the new skin from being infected (a somewhat common complication from large amounts of tissue regeneration like this), Ookuri was up and headed straight for the secure wing of the infirmary. As he entered, it wouldn't be difficult to find Yasu's room. Amongst the rows of rooms on either side of the hallway...

There was only one, on the very end, that was closed.

Opening the door perhaps a bit too quickly out of an abundant sense of urgency, Ookuri's eyes quickly searched the room and found the sleeping face of his friend. Relieved for a short moment, he stepped in and closed the door behind him before immediately realizing that she wasn't alone. There was another here.

Ieyasu.

The tension in his shoulders returned. Ookuri understood how little he knew of Ieyasu's motivations and of his responsibilities, but he couldn't help but feel apprehensive with his presence. The entire situation was such a strange dichotomy. On one hand, Yasu having Konegu inside of her allowed her to really understand what he had gone through his whole life... but on the other hand, she had to suffer like this because of that spirit, this Genma that the village, to a degree, strong-armed her into serving as its host. Whether merely by duty or by desire, Ieyasu was complicit in her pain.

It was enough to make the genin's blood boil, but he said nothing. He'd made her a promise, and he would keep it.

"Hello, Sensei," he offered, giving a small bow. "How is she?"

Yasu was within the mindscape, laying on the beach just close enough that the cold water lapped at her legs. It sent shivers up her spine but she didn't move, in truth she was unable to move, staring up at the night sky overhead. "It feels like this because I'm in a hospital bed, doesn't it?" she asked quietly.

"Yes. Your murderer is there. So is the boy."

Yasu turned her head slightly to look at Konegu. He stood beside her now in the form of a man she didn't recognize. He appeared to have shaved either side of his head, the top had hair running so long it was pulled back in the back but tattoos adorned the bare flesh. His eyes were such a marvelous shade of blue it was almost hypnotizing. His arms were crossed, staring out at sea as if waiting on something. "Don't call him that. Ieyasu wouldn't hurt me. And you didn't have to make your form some terrifying version of him earlier."

Konegu shrugged. "Tch, well... it was fun to do it." He turned his head and looked down at her, smiling in far too joyous a fashion. "I'm curious about your little friend though. Keep an eye on him for me?"

Yasu woke up with a light groan, her eyes blinking at the bright lights on the ceiling for several moments before she turned and saw Ieyasu sitting nearby, as well as Ookuri. "Hi." she said quietly, shifting and pushing herself up into a seated position before suddenly freezing in place. For a brief moment the room had spun and she felt dizzy, but as quickly as it came, it also went, and with a deep sigh the girl managed to sit up. "How long was I out?" she asked, blushing lightly as she glanced at Ieyasu. She knew he was probably going to be pissed. And so she turned to look at Ookuri. "What happened to your hand?"

Ieyasu perked up as he heard someone coming down the hall to Yasu's room, his eyes sternly staring at the knob as it jiggled. A moment later it opened, and Ookuri walked through it. A small sigh escaped him before he motioned with his head for Ookuri to come in and shut the door. "She'll be okay. Take a seat." Ieyasu pushed a chair over to the young boy, motioning for him to sit before he spoke up again, eyeing his arm. "So... you saw it huh? Yasu's secret." He didn't need an answer of course, the wound on his arm was plenty of answer for him. He knew what Konegu's power looked like. "So then, I assume she explained my role in her growth then as well." Now that he didn't know about for certain, but given what he knew about Yasu, he assumed that if she explained Konegu to the boy, she probably told him about Ieyasu's role as her handler and guardian.

"I think this goes without saying, but I feel like saying it anyways, just to be perfectly clear... This has to remain a secret. For now, anyway. Kumogakure's leadership is intent on her status as a Jinchuuriki remaining hidden for the time being, until she displays a certain level of mastery. I trust that I can expect you to respect that, Ookuri?" By the time he finished, Ookuri would have only a few moments to answer before Yasu came to. Immediately his eyes darted over to Yasu as she stirred, though he wouldn't rise from his seat just yet. She needed to show some strength on her own after all. She managed to sit up on her own, prompting a smile from Ieyasu. "Not sure to be honest... Ookuri brought you here, I assume he'd have a better idea than I would. And, uh, that's a good question Ookuri. How'd you get hurt?"

Roku already knew how the boy got hurt, but he would give Ookuri the option of sparing Yasu's feelings or telling the truth.

Ookuri didn’t need to speak during Ieyasu’s explanation, even as he shut the door behind him and took the seat he was offered. All he had to do was nod. This situation complicated his relationship with Ieyasu, but he wasn’t about to betray Yasu’s secret due to his misguided desire for justice. For now, he had to comply with the arrangement, even though he hated it.

Turning to Yasu as she awoke, he breathed a sigh of relief. ”Thank the stars, you’re awake,” Ookuri prayed, a gentle smile rising upon his cheeks. ”You weren’t out long. Maybe a couple of hours, no more than that.”

She then asked about his arm, and he was fervently glad that neither she nor Ieyasu couldn’t see the bandages on his torso. Ookuri could not and would not lie to her, but he’d chosen to ignore her warning to stay away, and he’d do it again without a second thought. ”I refused to let you suffer alone,” he said firmly, his eyes resolute as they gazed upon Yasu. ”I don’t abandon my friends, especially when they’re in pain.”

He wasn’t lying. His tone made it evident that not only did the Genma cause his injury, but that he was wholly unapologetic in choosing to stay anyways. He’d pay that price again and more in a heartbeat. Was it naive? Perhaps, but he didn’t care. His dedication to his friends was near-absolute. To Yasu in particular, it was completely absolute.

Yasu gave Roku an odd look, finding something in his behavior a bit off but she couldn't put her finger on it. Pushing the thought aside she turned her attention to Ookuri, seeming to freeze in place as he answered her question about his wounds. "You mean I..." She swallowed hard, quickly looking down at her lap. 'I was trying to help him, and instead I hurt him... I don't remember it but...' tears welled up in her eyes and she could practically hear her mother chiding her in the back of her mind.

Sniffling the girl suddenly shook her head. "I need to get out of here." She flung the blankets off of herself, turned so that her legs hung off the bed but as she pushed herself off to stand on the floor her legs gave way and she slipped with a yelp, hands clinging to the bed. The motion shifted her clothing, her sweater, just enough to showcase her ribs... and just how much they protruded.

'Well that was stupid, child. Get back in the bed. You can't get stronger if you don't mend first.'

Ieyasu quirked an eyebrow as Ookuri chose to tell the truth, even proud of his choice to subject himself to Konegu's power if it meant being there for Yasu. It was both admirable and foolish, but it wasn't Ieyasu's place to judge him right now. No, his duties were to Yasu, and as she suddenly tried to stand Roku was at her side in a flash, keeping her steady as she tried to get back in bed. But as his hands rested on her body, he felt in that moment just how physically frail she was... she weighed hardly anything. "Yasu... what the hell. Why are you so thin, this isn't healthy."

What on earth was going on? He hadn't seen her eat much around him sure, but a lot of people were like that. When they were hard at work, food just slowed them down, and they preferred to eat when they had a moment to relax... which around Ieyasu, wasn't very common. But her body showed him that she hadn't barely eaten anything in the past week, at least... if not longer. "Good lord, we need to get some sustenance in you Yasu. This... why aren't you eating?" He looked to Ookuri too, seeing if he had any knowledge of her current health.

In less than a second, Ookuri's eyes shifted from strong conviction to concern to abject horror and thinly veiled indignance. Never in his days had he seen someone so utterly frail and malnourished. The shock of the moment was so great that Ookuri went momentarily slackjawed at the revelation of Yasu's condition. His mind desperately sought reasons, an explanation as to who would do something like this to a young girl so kind and sweet, how this could happen, why?! He knew he'd only known Yasu for such a brief time, but everything she'd done in their brief acquaintance until now had only ever been for him. There hadn't been a single selfish act on her part. That was no illusion. That wasn't due to deception; there was simply no reason and no way. Someone did this to her, and they meant to. You couldn't do something so terrible to someone so undeserving without meaning it, and if his blood had been boiling before, it was now like lava in his veins.

Ookuri was a bit overwhelmed, it was all he could do to grip the railing on her bed with all of his force, clench his jaw, and very slowly take a deep breath in a desperate attempt to calm himself down. The depth of his anger and sadness at what he was seeing before him was so profound that it disturbed his very chakra. He didn't realize it, but for a literal split second, a thin, almost imperceptible wave of mist emanated from his body. Yasu was likely still struggling to hold herself up, but Ieyasu might notice it, and Konegu would definitely feel it. If the Genma had to describe the sensation it gave, it wasn't painful, it wasn't hot, it wasn't cold... It was nothing. Simply nothing.

The power of utter and absolute oblivion.

Managing with only partial success to steady his voice, Ookur gathered his courage to ask a question he knew might make him feel sick once he found the answer. "Yasu... when did you eat last?" he asked, his voice a bit shaky from a combination of volatile emotions that he was fighting to keep in control with every bit of willpower he had.

'Well now isn't that something... the boy cares so much for you his guest flares at the sight of your distress... but that chakra, is it really safe for you to be around him, child? Perhaps caution is best exercised... get him to a sealer, let your would-be murderer take a look perhaps.'

Yasu groaned, trying to ignore the spirits remarks as she managed to get back into bed, and gave both Ieyasu and Ookuri strange looks. "I had an apple earlier today." she remarked, as if it was the most normal thing in the world to have just that for the entire day. "I'm fine." she told both of them, turning her eyes to Ieyasu for a moment. "Its normal, I swear. Dancers have to stay light, so we eat light. This is all normal." she continued, touching her own ribs briefly as to motion to them. "My mother was like this when she was dancing at my age, and I'm the same. Its just part of it..." she trailed between the two of them, oblivious to the dangers of her own state thanks to her mother having forced weird eating habits upon her that had caused her to be anorexic, though Yasu had no idea what that was.

"Why are you two looking at me like that?"

Ieyasu's brow furrowed as Yasu stated she had eaten a single apple today... it was almost the evening now. He was about to lay into her some more, but it became quickly clear that it was not her doing... Yasu genuinely thought that this was normal, because her mother told her it was. Ookuri wasn't the only one angry in the room now, Ieyasu's arms crossed over his chest and gripped tightly at his biceps as he fumed. "You're not fine. And it's not normal. But it's not your fault... Ookuri, make sure she stays in bed. I'll be right back." Ieyasu gave both of the children a small bow before turning and walking out the door in search of a nurse... and, if luck would have it, the girl's mother. He doubted she'd be there so soon, after all they were at the academy; not in the village. But Ieyasu would have some very strong words for the woman when they next met.

What the hell is wrong with that girl's mother? Normal? She felt like she weighed 60 pounds at most! No, there's absolutely nothing normal about that... And I won't let it stand. Once he tracked down a nurse, Ieyasu would relax himself a moment before speaking to the woman. "I'm not going to tell you how to do your job ma'am, but that girl in there is severely malnourished. Please, do whatever you need to in order to fix that... her organs won't endure much more." The woman, a small red head, nodded. "Oh we know, don't worry. She'll be here for a few days while we get her full of nutrients. If we're lucky she can eat something soon too. Poor thing... she's all skin and bones."

Ieyasu grimaced at the girl's assessment, but nodded before heading back for the girl's room.

"Yessir," he nodded quietly, getting a grip on his emotions as he moved to replace Ieyasu sitting down on the other side of Yasu's bed.

Yasu was likely horrendously confused. The calm nature in which she spoke of her present state meant that she'd been fed this narrative probably her whole life. Ookuri was at a loss for words. She didn't realize how dangerous of a spot she was in right now. The genin scoured the depths of his mind to try to find something that would help her understand that they weren't speaking lunacy to her. And he couldn't accuse anyone of anything. He had no idea what her relationship with her mother was like, and he wouldn't risk driving a wedge between them like that. Clasping his hands together, he looked down at them, and he chose his words carefully. "Yasu... you asked me to trust you when you took me into your inside world to show me that I wasn't alone. That's a trust that I don't share with anyone else in this entire world. Even for how little time we've known each other, I value and cherish that trust. I value and cherish you as a friend... And I'm hoping that you trust me enough to know that I wouldn't say what I'm about to say if I didn't absolutely think it was for your benefit."

Bringing his eyes to meet with Yasu's there was a deep worry and bitter honesty in their gaze. "...Roku-sensei is right, Yasu," he said. "Whoever is having you eat so little isn't helping you, not to become a dancer, not to become a shinobi, not at all. They may not be meaning to hurt you, but they are. You're so thin that your body might start breaking down if you lose any more weight," he said plainly, taking her tiny hand delicately into his own, carefully brushing his fingers over the top of her hand, haunted by how pronounced the bones of her fingers were through her skin. "Being light, being skinny is one thing... This isn't that. Your muscles and organs can't sustain themselves on so little food. This is starvation, Yasu. This... this could kill you if it gets any worse."

Yasu gave Ieyasu a puzzled look as he suddenly left the room, thoroughly confused by his statements, even turning to Ookuri to voice her confusion. "What's he mean by that? Mom said its fine, its just how dancers look." But even as she finished speaking she noticed Ookuri's reaction to the information, listened as he prefaced what he wanted to say to her. And yet what he said only confused her more. "But... my mother wouldn't hurt me." she said quietly, looking at him as he took her hand. "She... she wouldn't hurt me..." she said again, turning her eyes away from Ookuri and staring into her lap, even though she didn't pull her hand from Ookuri's grasp.

"Are you so blind, my dear? Yes she would. Remember how she has berated you for being a shinobi, remember how she has insisted on removing me from you even when you've made it clear to her that you would die if that happened. No, she doesn't care."

Yasu swallowed hard at the genma's words, tears threatening to spill from her eyes as she still looked down at her lap.

"Remember just last week? What did you overhear her say to your father? I know you remember."

"We picked a bad one." Yasu whispered quietly, answering the genma aloud. Sniffling she slunk under the blankets more, pulling them up to just under her chin as she laid back down, wishing Konegu hadn't brought that up.

Ieyasu returned to the room just about the time Yasu slunk under the blankets, a somber feel hung in the room... and it wasn't just in regards to Yasu's anorexia. Ieyasu eyed the older boy a moment, checking over his bandaged wounds himself with a glance before shaking his head. Hard to believe he was so willing to be around her while she had that little freak out of hers. But to be fair, if he hadn't been there... who knows what might have happened. You've got a good heart Ookurikara, hopefully it won't cause you too much pain in the end. He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall as Yasu sniffled under the blankets. He had to at least fill her in on what happens next.

"You're going to be here for a few days Yasu. These people will take good care of you, they know about your 'condition' and what to expect of it. But more importantly, they only want to help you. That means you need to do what they say, okay? They're going to ask you to eat things, and you need to do it. And... Just so you know, it's not your fault that this happened. You aren't to blame..." he grumbled at the end as he trailed off, his thoughts now focused on exactly who he would blame for this. "I grew up extremely poor, Yasu. My father died of a curable condition that we couldn't afford to cure. Even in that circumstance, as broke as we were, I always had some kind of food in my stomach... maybe not as much as I should've at times, but I never starved. But you... your parents are some of the wealthiest in the village, and they don't feed you?" He didn't bother continuing past that point, he didn't need to bash them... No, Yasu could connect the dots. It seemed she already had.

Ookuri was glad to hear about the hospital staff being able to help Yasu. He knew that if the both of them recognized exactly how morbidly underfed Yasu was, the specialists working here at the infirmary would definitely know how serious this situation was for her as well. Ookuri wasn't so much concerned about the physical damage anymore, anyways... not after the small whisper that he'd caught from Yasu while Ieyasu had been out of the room. No, her concerns were much more emotional now than physical. Ookuri couldn't fully piece together everything. He didn't know Yasu's history or family like that. But part of him wondered... "We picked a bad one..." Where had she heard that from? A teacher? It didn't really sound like something a teacher would say. It certainly couldn't be an instructor here. They'd just arrived here. That was too short a time to make an assessment of someone's full potential Her parents? Parents couldn't choose their children... unless...

A very dark possibility popped up in Ookuri's mind, but he immediately stifled it. No. That was merely conjecture. He would keep it filed away unless he found further reason to suspect that his suspicion might be right.

When Ieyasu started trying to further drive the point home, Ookuri understood his motive, but he wasn't sure that's what Yasu needed. "Roku-sensei... I think she gets it," he said, shaking his head. It wasn't meant as any disrespect, but him further belaboring the point might simply make things worse. Scooting his chair closer to the bed, still not letting go of her hand, he placed his other hand, still wrapped in its pristine bandages, on Yasu's head, the only comforting he felt he could do that wouldn't startle or hurt her. "Yasu... What do you need from us? Do you want us to stay, or do you need us to go?" he asked her softly.

Ookuri was sensitive enough to realize their presence as the ones who broke this revelation to her could be simply making these emotions more difficult to manage. As much as it pained Ookuri, if she needed him gone, he would oblige.

For several moments Yasu didn't move, remaining hidden under her blankets as she sniffled and tried to push away the thoughts slowly overtaking her mind. Yet it seemed Konegu didn't want her to simply push it all aside after all. 'Child, tell them. Let your would-be murderer do some good for once. He cannot help you if you do not let him. If you let him protect you, you can get stronger, and he'll be no threat to you, no one will. We have much to protect, let us do it.' She almost flinched as Ookuri touched the top of her head, but it did remind her to move. The girl shifted in bed, taking a bit of extra time to sit up now as she brought her legs up and hugged them to her body, though they were still covered by the blanket. "Stay." she said quietly.

She looked between Ieyasu and Ookuri a moment, sighing as she tried to steady herself for what she knew she needed to say, for what Konegu was pushing her to say. "I... mother always said it was normal... feeling hungry." she said quietly. "Said dancers had to be smaller, thinner, or then we couldn't pull off the moves we do. Always saying I was too fat, too heavy... I just thought it was all normal. But last week..." she sighed, shaking her head and burying her face in her knees again before looking at the pair once more. "I overheard her and my dad... they... they said they picked a bad one. That I was a mistake. That I'm adopted..." she chewed on the inside of her lip a moment, her hands shaking as the truth came to mind. "Konegu started telling me that they didn't care because of that... but I didn't want to believe him..."

Ieyasu pinched the bridge of his nose as the girl explained her revelation to the two men in the room... that she was adopted. And that apparently, her parents were convinced that they had made the wrong choice. Who could ever bring themselves to say that about a child they brought into their family by choice? Gah, these people are worse then half the people I've killed over the years. I almost don't want to take their money... almost. Truth be told, this sort of emotional stuff was easily Ieyasu's weakest spot. There was little he could offer her in the way of comfort, but if he had to guess, Ookuri would have that front covered.

"Adopted or no, You're still Yasu. Whether your parents see that value or not doesn't change the fact that you do indeed have value. I've seen you dance and I've seen you train in the ways of the shinobi... You're fantastic at both. It's not your fault your parent's are blind to your skill." That was about the best she'd get out of him in terms of motivational talk; be the best you can be, even if everyone else is blind to it. Welp, now he had things to do, and words to share with certain people... certain people who he'd much rather share a fist with. "Ookuri, can you keep Yasu company? I have reports to file in regards to this incident, and some people to inform..." He'd check to make sure Yasu wasn't looking at him, then catch Ookuri's attention with a wink... Ookuri should know exactly who he was going to go have words with.

"Sorry Yasu... I'll be back tomorrow, okay?" He'd walk over to the young girl and give her a small peck on the forehead, ruffling her hair a little while he turned to Ookuri. "You're the man of the house while i'm gone, Ookuri-Senpai." He chuckled and gave the kid a light tap on the shoulder with one of his many arms while making his way past him to the door. He'd stop only for a moment to turn his head to Yasu. "...Rest easy. And get better. I'll expect you up and ready to get back to training the moment you're healthy, mkay?" It might come off as harsh or uncaring, but he assumed by now Yasu would know him well enough to know that this was his version of being caring and considerate. He wanted her healthy enough to be able to train, just to make sure she was actually healthy; the training was secondary.

Unless there was anything stopping him, Ieyasu would leave the two genin behind, while he went to have a very strongly worded conversation with Yasu's parents. Payroll or not, they owed him some answers... and he owed them some ultimatums.

The Arashiyama's stomach twisted into knots as he heard his darkest suspicion come to reality, giving Yasu's hand a breathlike squeeze to let her know he was still here. Ookuri wanted to cry, he truly did, but he kept his composure the best he could. He'd almost given up on being a shinobi and left the village, and even he hadn't been treated so horribly. Though misguided, he never doubted his family's love for him, only that they viewed him as a failure, much as he did himself. Ookuri let Ieyasu say his piece. It was all true, and especially coming from someone as gruff as him, he hoped that Yasu would realize that he meant it on a profound level. He also caught Ieyasu's wink, and he nodded, his eyes alive and furious for a moment with unadulterated fury. It was most fortunate that Ieyasu was the teacher in this situation and not the other way around. Ookuri couldn't speak the unimaginable things he would have personally wanted done with this foul souls who dared call themselves Yasu's parents. The caustic venom that seethed in the back of his mind wished upon them a suffering like none before it nor any to come after. They'd done this to Yasu. Her. The young girl who'd shown more concern for an almost-failure like him than she did for herself. They'd abused that gentle, kind nature for their own ridiculous purposes and standards, and the injustice of it was almost too much to take. The only thing that held him back was knowing that, more than anything, he had to show that he was there for Yasu.

After Ieyasu left, Ookuri lightly clasped Yasu's hand in his own. For a while, he had to sit and think about the words he wanted to say, what he thought she needed to hear. They did not come easily, and even as he said them, he had no clue whether they were right. "I'm right here, Yasu. I don't know what to do or say for you, and I know that I can't fully understand what you're going through right now. But I am here. Whatever you want or need from me, you need only ask," he offered.

He hated how powerless he felt to help his friend. The young man swore to himself that he'd never allow himself to be so powerless again. He sat patiently, at Yasu's beck and call, even if she should choose to dismiss him.

Yasu was quiet as Ieyasu spoke to her. The poor girl was having trouble hearing him in truth, her mind was so overtaken with the new revelations of her health, and what she was going through. She had never imagined what was happening was abuse, the girl had genuinely thought she was just weak. She barely nodded when Ieyasu mentioned seeing her the next day, leaving her alone with Ookuri. As he inevitably spoke to her, the girl turned her head and looked at him, looking at her hand as Ookuri had taken it in his own and she remained quiet for awhile. She came to realize that she felt cold, that she felt alone in spite of Ookuri's presence. She hated that feeling, and after a moment she removed her hand from his to shift on the bed and pat the space beside her.

"Sit with me?" she asked quietly, blushing briefly.

'Just because you are hurting doesn't mean you need to get that much closer to this one. We may have helped him a moment ago but that doesn't mean that what is in him is safe. He's far more dangerous than you are. I may be stronger than what he has, but what he has is clearly uncontrolled and perhaps not even sealed. If it husks him you could lose this boy entirely, and whats left behind might kill you.'

'You're paranoid, Konegu. And if you can't protect me from something weaker than you, what good are you then?'

'Tch.'

Ookuri waited the long, agonizing moments it took for Yasu to have something to say with a great sense of impatience. He wanted, no, needed to do something for her, lest he lose all good sense. Somehow, he realized that this situation was even worse than when he’d handed his resignation to the Raikage, and that had been utterly soul-crushing. This hurt worse. This... was heartbreaking.

His eyes lit up with hope, and he nodded resolutely at Yasu’s request to sit with her, though he had to admit that he blushed a little himself at the request. Though he was older, he’d never had such a thing asked of him before, and he couldn’t help but feel a little flattered that she trusted him so. Getting up, he slid smoothly onto the bed and put his arm above the pillow, offering Yasu the option to lean against him should she so wish.

If she did, he’d draw the blanket over her a little more before looping his arm around her in a loose, gentle embrace, resting his cheek upon her head. He’d stay there as long as she was comfortable with it.

Despite her blush, Yasu was happy when Ookuri accepted her request. She had never been one for such physical closeness but in the moment with everything going on the young girl felt alone even with someone in the room, and she hoped this would help. As he sat in the bed with her, Yasu curled up against him, resting her head on his chest with a sigh as he drew the blanket up over her. "Thank you." she said quietly.

She knew Ieyasu was probably off to have a word with her parents even though he had tried to hide that fact from her. She couldn't help but wonder what life at home was going to have in store for her later. Would things improve? Or would she simply get to eat more while her parents hated her more? She wasn't sure what was going to happen and for the first time she found herself wishing her room in the dorms here was more than a formality, she wished she could actually stay. 'I have to get stronger first... prove I can control your power...'

'Then we have work to do, child.'
