A Special License Examination (Chuunin, Special Jounin, Jounin Exam)

One of the training grounds of the academy had been prepped for a final examination; but the grounds were sparse with no body except the Raikage, who stood penuriously perched upon what appeared to be a small hut, his legs hanging off of it and kicking. When Hanako arrived, she would noticed quite a few buildings of stone, and stone like figures that looked like people. It was the recreation of a main street in Kumogakure. The figures moved about and were some sort of clone. From behind one building came another teacher, who built a stream of water, and then wiped his brow before calling out to the Raikage.

"All set sir."

All in all the mock village was roughly 200m x 200m and was a magnificent test course often used to train Kumogakure's would be shinobi and military forces to handle urban warfare and situations. Today though it was here to test just a single individual. Leaping up onto his feat above the roof, Hayate would great Hanako when she arrive, leaping back down to the ground and walking up to her.


"Are you aware why I called you here, Hanako?" he said with a smile.

His intention was to give her not only a Chuunin Exam, but three exams in the course of one day. From everything he could tell and Mariya's field reports Hanako was easily at Jounin level. And from what he could tell, she also lacked purpose... and it just so happened he knew about two promising young Genin who could use mentorship from someone like Hanako, and hopefully, would mentor her back. It was the village ideology after all that growth was two-way in squads. Seniors learned from juniors just as much as juniors could learn from seniors.

Round 1 of the exam would be an evacuation. Kumogakure Chuunin needed to be capable of defending the village first and fore most as they were the largest general population and generally formed the bulk of any defense.

Round 2 would require some strategy in commanding a squad to continue defense efforts.

Round 3 would be about beating down the threat; a true all out fight at an elite level.

As Hanako asked if it was the Chuunin exam, Hayate would nod, but then pause for a moment. As she had guessed that wasn't exactly the case.

"You're probably aware Hanako that it is strange of me to be involved directly in this kind of exercise. I pride myself on being to the point. This is an examination for your promotion straight to Jounin." he said as he crackled his knuckles and began to limber up. "In innate ability alone you have become an strong shinobi- many including my daughter have vouched for you. Your loyalty to the village despite all odds is clear, and you have a little bit more experience outside the empire..."

Hayate took a deep breath as suddenly wicked flames danced about his person. Their gold light was like the flames of the sun itself. The flames of a gas giant. His arms began to move methodically as he lept high up into the air.

Over the years the Raikage had been known for his famed mastery of the elements, but people generally first thought of his Raiton and Suiton. In truth these were the elements he used when he wished to show mercy. Elements that paralyzed and held; that blocked indomitably to protect others. If destruction was his goal- he had far better tools. Surrounded in the golden fire that truly embraced the power of the Starforce he had inherited, the man swung his arms in the air as missiles of flames in the form of feathers rained down upon the mock village.

Within a moment one building had exploded, with fire raining down. The "people"- most of which were clones or volunteers began to cry and scream. Immediately north of Hanako was a house that had collapsed. Seemingly a door way with it's main pillar trapping somebody. There was chaos everywhere, and a mad man still raining fire down on the village.

She'd have to choose how to handle this situation.

From behind a squad of three Chuunin suddenly emerged- "w-what do we w-w-w-ee do?" one stammered. Perhaps not acting.

Katon • Mantle of Flames

Prerequisite: Katon • Ember Feathers
By channeling throughout his body, Hayate will mix katon into the Starforce chakra that surrounds him adding an additional layer of protection to it. This causes a mantle of golden Ember Feathers to form around him with [Control] strength. The feathers will constantly fall and reform, making sure that he is always arnored but also that wherever he goes the golden flames of his cloak will light the world ablaze as the feathers fall to the ground directly beneath him. In addition to the typical burn of Katon, the feathers are supercharged and extremely volatile, so much so that burns left by the feathers are able to slow regenerative abilities as the fire destroys cells at a rate equal to or higher than they can be repaired. This effect spreads through the body at a micro-level and lasts for 6 posts unless healed by a specialized anti-burn Iijutsu technique or something equivalent.

Having achieved notable mastery over Katon, Hayate is capable of shaping, directing, and manipulating existing bodies of the element without the need of hand seals or an existing technique. The range at which Hayate can manipulate the element is equal to his control times 2 metres. While Hayate can freely manipulate this element, they cannot produce the element naturally.
