Information on the design and size of the Temples can be found in the event thread. There are approximately 25 students that live at Temple 1 that are on campus. Harm should not befall them unless absolutely required. Temple 1 is surrounded by flatlands, there are several large oak trees that are easily several hundred years old. Otherwise there is no infrastructure. The entry to the Temple is west facing.
The Defense Camp is approximately 1.5km to the North.
The Annexation Camp is approximately 2km to the West.
