Hitori no Otoko (Taijutsu Style)

These are archives of jutsu produced by users. While they are still divided by concentrations and styles, they typically lack the over-arching themes that other styles may have.

Hitori no Otoko (Taijutsu Style)

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue Aug 24, 2021 6:36 pm

Hitori No Otoko This style focuses on two skills of a samurai, the bow and the sword. Often called "the original" samurai style, Hitori no Otoko uses elements that may seem familiar to those who are knowledgeable of the various styles of the world, suggesting to some that all samurai styles branched from this one. Most importantly, Hitori no Otoko utilizes fundamental features of the Ki Sabre style, and while Ki Sabre is typically used by practitioners of every style Hitori no Otoko is the only style that has Ki Sabre as a part of many of it's techniques. Hitori no Otoko focuses on two central tactics: the first is long range assaults with a bow and arrow that keep the opponent off balance, attempting to undermine their ability to attack from a range or prepare themselves for close-range combat. The samurai will use this talents to close in on an opponent who is constantly in a state of recovery, creating more openings. The second is powerful, single strikes to take out opponents. These samurai aim to kill in a single strike in close range combat, and rarely exchange multiple blows. The name Hitori No Otoko, meaning "One Man" is pulled from the ancient saying "It takes only one man to stand against an army to inspire the people to fight for their home.". As samurai were once considered fighters of the people and pillars of justice, Hitori no Otoko is meant to empower a single user to fight an entire army if they must.

Hitori no Otoko utilizes the [Ki Sabre] concentration, and many techniques are considered [Kijutsu], techniques in this style description that are not listed as [Kijutsu] do not require the [Ki Sabre] concentration to take, and consequently can independently be sufficient for the B-rank pyramid requirement for the [Ki Sabre] concentration requirement.

Requires:
[Ki Sabre]
[Ranged Weaponry]
[Sword Weapons]
[Close Quarters Combat]
[Traveling to Iron Country or being an Iron Country native]
D-rank Ki Shot
D-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
Pulling their bow string back, the samurai will focus Ki into the bow and then release the string. As the string releases forward, the ki will form into a thin arrow shape. This allows the samurai to produce arrows without necessarily having to draw from a quiver, allowing them to fire far more rapidly than the standard archer. Ki Arrows are able to be manipulated as any other arrow, allowing them to be fired under the influence of other skills the samurai may have for firing ranged weapons.

Buck Shot
D-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
Notching an arrow, the samurai will pull back, focusing ki into the tail end of the arrow. This does nothing to influence the flight path or power of the arrow, but upon impact, the ki will force itself forward into the arrow, causing it to splinter, releasing a spray of whatever the arrow is made of forward, turning a simple arrow into a focused grenade. Skilled practitioners of this technique [35+ control] are able to release the ki behind the arrow early, causing it to detonate the arrow before impact.

Repel
D-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
As Hitori no Otoko focuses on single strikes and quickly ending one-on-one combat, practitioners have learned to utilize their opponents strength as an asset. If a strike is blocked or met with any resistance, the samurai is able to quickly release all force they're creating, and fall away from the resistance, propelling them backward [Strength] meters, where [Strength] is the strength they were resisted with. This allows the samurai to regroup and prepare their next assault.

Exchange
D-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Utilizing the dual sheathes these samurai use to carry their weapons, the samurai is able to exchange between bow and sword with ease, dropping one into the sheath and grabbing the other in the same motion. This allows the samurai to switch between bow and sword while closing in on their opponent.

Draw Strike
D-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
As practitioners of Hitori no Otoko carry their blades on their back, they often will first strike with a downward slash. With this technique, the samurai unsheathes their weapons and attacks the opponent in one single motion, going for a diagonal downwards strike, typically across the opponents midsection. If execute properly, this can be done while passing a target, allowing the samurai to continue forward to their next opponent.

Ambidexterity
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

Predator
D-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Trained extensively with a bow and arrow, the samurai is able to predict where a target will be based off of their current speed and trajectory, given the range between target and samurai. This allows the samurai to accurately aim to hit moving targets, though abrupt or sudden changes in movement will make this more difficult.

Silent Nock
D-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Trained extensively with a bow and arrow, the samurai is able to nock and fire two arrows, while appearing to only nock one, by holding them very closely together. Only the most perceptive of opponents will be able to notice the relatively quick process, often allowing the samurai to sneak in secret attacks.
C-rank Anti-Shinobi
C-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception]
Trained in opposing shinobi, this samurai has learned to recognize when shinobi are about to use jutsu, instantly recognizing chakra channeling intuitively, even as the glow of chakra is forming or movements that signal towards forming hand seals. This allows the samurai to adapt his attack, may it be through arrow or sword, to prevent the execution of such jutsu.

(K)nock
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Having trained this skill, the samurai is able to launch projectiles with such precision that they are able to knock other projectiles off course by firing at them. As long as the projectile they are attempting to knock off course has equal to or less than strength as the samurai's projectile, it will be knocked off course in a random direction.

Mirror Strike
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Key to creating the openings practitioners of this style aim to take advantage of, this technique aims to force the opponent to guard the wrong side. The samurai will swing their blade from the outside, then pivot on their back foot, rotating their shoulders and torquing their core to completely redirect their momentum in the opposite direction. In doing so, they will rotate to the opposite side of the opponent, and swing the sword into the target. This sudden change in direction is often enough to catch opponents off guard and exploit openings.

Cone Shot
C-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
Notching an arrow and focusing Ki into it, the samurai will launch the arrow forward releasing the ki as they do so. As the arrow flies the ki will form a cone around it, roughly 3m in width. This will knock back any projectiles with less than [Control] strength, but will also push through non-solid projectiles like Katon, Suiton, or otherwise, displacing them or separating them. This allows the samurai to defend against ninjutsu projectiles and continue fighting.

Ki Slash
C-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
As the samurai begins to strike with their sword, they will focus Ki into the blade. As they strike with the weapon, it will displace any ninjutsu with less than [Control] strength, slicing through them and separating it. This allows the samurai to defend against ninjutsu attacks when closing in on their target.

Ki Launch
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
In some situations, the samurai may not have the ability to fully notch and pull back a bow string. In these situations, the samurai can focus ki into the bow string, allowing them to control the tension of the bow string, mimicking a full pull before releasing. When they release, the ki in the string will fly forward into the arrow, launching it with the same strength the bow would have.

Close Quarters
C-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Regardless of their positioning, the user is always able to release arrows from their bow at full strength.
B-rank Hilt nock
B-rank Taijutsu Discipline
[Deft Hands]
This samurai is able to reliably and consistently nock and fire arrows from a bow, even when holding a sword in the same hand.

Nock Shield
B-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
Nocking an arrow, the samurai will charge ki into it, causing a large cone of ki to form from the top of the arrow, around their body. The cone is roughly 3m high and about 2m wide and has [Control] strength, and acts as a shield against frontal attacks, allowing the samurai to closely focus on their target without worrying about being attacks. The cone remains in place as long as the arrow is nocked, and disappears once fired.

Disruption
B-rank Kijutsu Discipline
Designed specifically in response to the rise of shinobi, this samurai is able to "overcharge" Ki into their arrows or sword when performing any attack. Should the weapon strike a human, spirit, or chakra adept animal, the ki will surge into them, overcharging their chakra system and nullying any active jutsu or jutsu currently being channeled, and giving -6 Control for 4 posts.

Deadlock
B-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
When striking blades with another, the samurai will release a burst of ki through their weapon, causing it to blast against it with [Control] strength, often overpowering the opponent and ending a deadlock. Having done so, the samurai with rotate their sword, often causing the weapon it's deadlocked with it be forced out of the opponents hands, followed by a quick downward strike into the opponent, ideally dispatching them.
A-rank Frontal Assault
A-rank Kijutsu Maneuver
Charging forward with their bow, the samurai will release a constantly flurry of arrows at their target, using all their focus to move at full speed while continuously releasing arrows at their full strength. The speed and strength of this often makes it easy to break down any defenses the opponent may have erected, and overwhelm the opponent to keep them on the offensive. As they're charging, they will continuously release bursts of Ki from their bow with [Control] strength causing anything coming towards them to be displaced by [Control] strength. Once they are within range of their target, they will fire a final arrow before switching the bow and their sword, releasing a downward slash at their target. Unless the target has a [Speed] greater than the users, they are often unable to do anything to defend themselves in the barrage, leaving them dead in place.

Hidden Strike
A-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
[Silent Nock]
A highly dangerous and somewhat unorthodox technique, this technique is required to learn before the samurai can learn the final Hitori no Otoko technique, in order to prove their mastery and trust in their skill. Typically only to be used when charging an opponent, the user will nock two arrows, firing one at full strength, and firing another at [Users Speed - 2], before bursting forward at their full speed, then quickly slowing down to the speed they fired the arrow at. Using their own body, they will hide the arrow as they charge their target. Drawing their sword, the user will move to do a broadside slash to draw the opponents guard, only to quickly dodge to the opposite direction of the guard. The opponent will often be drawn to the guard, causing them to be struck by the arrow, where the user will then rotate on their feet and strike in the opening created. The user of this technique must be incredibly conscious of their speed and careful of their movement, lest they risk impaling themselves with the arrow.

S-rank Ougi: One Man Army
S-rank Kijutsu Manevuer
Hidden Strike
Holding their sword in one hand and their bow in the other, the samurai will spin on their foot, doing a 360 and releasing a burst of ki from their bodies at [Control] speed and strength, knocking back anyone close to them weaker. Continuing to spin, the user will then doing one of two things, either strike with their sword, or fire an arrow, at any body within 50m of themselves. They are able to do so at full speed and strength, allowing them to rapidly attack large numbers of opponents. The samurai is able to attack up to [Endurance]/2 targets each time they "spin" around, and if there are less than [Endurance]/2 targets, attack a target multiple times. As they spin, the user will often leap through the area, firing arrows, then advancing to strike with the sword. Because of the erratic motions and changing ranges, opponents facing this are treated as having -6 Speed when defending unless they have a [Perception] technique, or familiarity with erratic styles that allows them to track such attacks.
