A tall middle aged man with long flowing white hair that was tied back in a loose ponytail reaching down just past his waist entered onto the tournament grounds with a few young shinobi in tow with him. His eyes were bright blue and despite them appearing to almost glow there was a hint of darkness still within them that only the most perceptive of gazes would be able to find. It was a man who hadn't been seen in person for nearly five years up until recent had suddenly re-emerged from within the Suna village, this man was none other than one of the village's Bannin Saisuko Zao. His attire was much like it had always been since becoming a bannin with long flowing robes white in color but now trimmed in black that were more befitting perhaps of a monk or priest than that of a shinobi but his shinobi equipment was still there, wither visible or hidden due to his choice of clothing, as a large scroll was worn horizontally across his back and a gleaming forehead protector tied in the normal place upon his forehead sporting the village of his homeland. But even his lose clothing of choice could not hide the fact from those with decent eyes that the man was now missing his left arm...

The Hidden Sand shinobi glanced around at all the activities and shinobi running about as he recalled the dark memories from the past half a decade and wondered just how long fragile peace like this were the village's could gather to compete would last. Shaking the thought he motioned with his right arm as the flawless white skin of the fuuin covered hand could briefly be seen as it was a gesture for the fellow shinobi who had traveled with him to this International event to go ahead and explore as it was easily read upon their face that they could hardly hold themselves back. A gentle smile passed upon the thin lips of the white haired man as he nodded and turned to scan the crowd, while he had been forgiven for his actions by his homeland there were going to be others who weren't so kind or forgiving if he was linked to the actions of the White Haired demon who had done terrible deeds during the war across the mainland and the Shrimp continent. As the genin and chuunin who had been accompanying him to this point scattered in all directions to explore the event grounds and watch the soon to happen scheduled fights the man took in a deep breath and allowed himself to focus as he also took a step forward into the crowd. 'To be young again...'

Another middle aged tall man, with long flowing red hair was stood in the tournament grounds, his younger brother and now assistant/student was stood beside him, he had short shaggy hair and was donning what was a ROOT uniform, dark in coloured. It was apparent that the pair were siblings, with the same facial structure only their heights and eye colour really different.

The pair were known as Aizawa, Yoru and Nobu.

Nobu was here for the chunnin exams, though he was deemed too powerful to participate in the individual bouts and would only be able to take part in the challenge rounds. Though if the young man was honest, he wasn’t concerned after the late stages of the war he was tipped for Chunnin already Nobu knew it was good experience and was happy to take part.

The Bannin and the Genin both wielded a kunai, going over slowly a set of sequence of movements practicing Ochiba routines. The Bannin’s gaze fell to the tall white haired man who just stepped into the crowd, his power was apparent and incredibly alluring “Hold it.” Said Yoru to his brother, Nobu paused in his tracks mid swing and nodded.

As The Commander of the ANBU: Black Ops, Yoru knew the bingo book like the back of his hand and the distinct Suna shinobi was a hard one to forget and stood out like a sore thumb “You have a crush?” chuckled out Nobu, as he received a sharp smack to the back of the head from his silent elder brother “You have no idea who that is, Saisuko, Zao The Spirit Puppeteer.” he noted from what he could remember the bingo book and his interest was certainly peaked, he wouldn’t approach for now he’d watch from afar.

The noise of the excited crowd was almost refreshing to the man's ears as he'd spent quite some time in the Pit of Suna awaiting deliberation from the Kazekage and the council on if they would allow for him to ever serve the village again. It was a place filled with only the sounds of suffering and silence, being chained up like some animal, but he could not fault his village for their actions as it was his own carelessness that had triggered the events that led to that point. Thankfully the village had given him a chance to prove that his loyalties still lay with the village and his homeland, obviously not without some restrictions as a handful of different fuuin had been placed on his body as precautionary measures to ensure that he was able to be located at any time along with chakra sealing fuuin. In truth the experienced shinobi could remove them if he wanted but the man wished to truly be apart of Suna once more and was thankful for their grace in this matter. He was even allowed to escort a group of Sand shinobi to the first international chuunin event after the great war, he looked forward to see the competing genin and it would be a good learning experience for those who were quite ready to compete to see the strength of their future peers from other villages.

A sharp crack was barely audible off to his right side, faintly filtering into the right ear...it was the sound of someone smacking another as it was just enough to catch the snow white haired man's attention as his crystal eyes shifted and his head followed turning partially to the side in the direction from which the sound had originated. What came into view was a tall red headed figure wearing an eye path with a smaller version of himself to his side. Even from a simple glance their pair seemed to be related based on their hair color and facial features, though Zao could not recognize the younger Aizawa he was able to easily identify the taller red haired shinobi due to his eye patch. While the man had only been out of the pit a short while he still was able to recall back before the war that this man was a criminal in the Bingo Book for his actions against his own homeland. But due to the allied nature of Konoha and Suna he'd been able to hear information that the man had been captured and then when the war broke out he was released and served as a powerful tool for the Leaf village during the war earning a pardon for his crimes.

'If a man like that can earn the trust of his village again, then so may I in the future.' The was was over and thus there was not a immediate method to demonstrate his desire to protect Suna leaving him own with his own promise to the council and Kiyori and all his actions to follow including this trip on behalf of the village. As he gazed upon the brothers the man lifted his right hand slightly giving a half wave and a gentle smile from his thin lips acknowledging the presence of the powerful Leaf shinobi before resuming his course. Though he had a somewhat friendly relationship with a handful of Konoha shinobi, this man wasn't one and thus he didn't pursue anything more than a friendly greeting from afar and turned his attention back on the maze of people before him that he was navigating. It'd been so long since he had anything good to eat and the tournament wasn't starting its first round for a while leaving him plenty of time to test out some of the local delicacies.

The monk like figure quickly weaved himself into the flow of the crowd, disappearing into the masses as he journeyed a short while to find a food stand with some empty outside seating and a short line to order. A few minutes later the man was seated at a table made only for two or perhaps three people max, the steam still roiling off the top of his tea cup as he blew across its surface gentle before bring the cup in his right hand to his lips. It was Kabusecha tea, a semi-shaded type of green tea, somewhere between sencha and gyokuro. The flavor is similar to sencha, with just a bit more sweetness. A type of tea that one couldn't find in Wind country due to the climate and Zao was rather excited to find one of his favorite types of tea here in Aroma country, what a find! "It has been a while, I wonder where those kids have gotten off to?" As he placed his small sipping cup down on the serving tray he wondered where the genin had disappeared off to, only one of them was competing this year so he'd have to be sure to observe his little apprentice's bout for sure.

Though he'd also heard about these Team and Exhibition matches as well, this was something that would most likely prove interesting to watch, as well. Currently the man was waiting on the rest of his food to come and then he'd have to check up on the kids he'd brought with him. But for now it was simply nice to be able to relax...

With few days left until the start of the exams, Noeru was enjoying the novelty of the town of Aroma country. The streets were packed with tourists and visitors from all over the world. All gathered here to watch the fights, some to make a profit, and some were there to compete. Noeru was one of the latter, and he wanted to make sure he made the most of his time in this town before the stressful couple of weeks began. He did not know much about the chuunin exams, but what he did know was that they sometimes ended in death, so playing around would not be an option. One fight could put him in the hospital for the rest of the tourney. He had to enjoy his time here before all that, so he was just sat by his window, pondering what he should do today.

The busy streets caught his attention as he gazed out the window. So many people, so much happening in such a small area. People coming and going, shouting, screaming, arguing, debating. With so much going on, Noeru was beginning to get a bit of a headache. He took a deep breath and was about to get up and leave, but then a glimpse of long, shiny grey hair brought his attention back to the area. This individual seemed like he was flowing through the crowds, and surprisingly all the people in the streets did not take any notice. Noeru immediately realized that this person was not your average Joe.

With a quick swing of his arm he opened his window, and swung himself around onto the face of the building, hopping up the the roof where he would follow the individual by running along the ledge. A peculiar interest took a hold of the youth as he followed this man. Who was he? where was he going? was he competing in the exhibition fights? he doesn't have a headband on, is this a shinobi at all? all these questions bounced around his head as he ran along the ledge for a couple of hundred meters, only to find that the person took a seat at an almost empty cafe and ordered some odd looking tea. This was a bizarre sight to see, so Noeru took a few moments to remain in his vantage point while he further inspected this individual. Partialy because he wanted to see what their next move was, but also because Noeru was not sure what he should do in this situation. This person could be anyone, and for a moment he wondered whether he should go and alert someone, but in the end he decided against it.

Noeru hopped down from the building and landed with a gently thud on the ground a few meters away from his target. He knew that his skills at sneaking were not the best, and it was likely that he had been already noticed, which threw his mind into even a bigger disarray. The youth took a few steps at a bit of an angle, as if he was circling his target, but when he got to the point where he was in line with what he now realized was a man, Noeru stopped and spoke;

'Hey... Who are you and why creeping around this town for?' the youth said, with confidence and a demanding tone. His headband reflecting the sun above him and clearly displaying the symbol of Konoha.

It was true that the genin's stealth skills weren't that great, but it wasn't that which drew the white haired man's attention away from the sweet aroma of his tea cup but the odd actions of the youth who's presence he sensed from a decent distance even without being focused on doing so. 'That's odd...' Even before the Konoha nin dropped down Zao was questioning what the intentions of this strange kid were but paid it no mind and carefully sipped on the hot tea allowing for its flavor to fill his mouth. To the middle aged man who hadn't been able to sample this tea in years it was like the tea was helping repair his darkened soul at the moment but this moment in time ground to a halt at the patter of feet gently touching the ground a short distance away. 'Truly odd this one.' It had been sometime, since his jounin days, that he operated around genin and perhaps all genin were a bit strange and he'd just forgotten what it was like to have them around everywhere.

The crystal blue gaze from the man's eyes swept to the side, though the actions of the Leaf shinobi were not enough to make him turn his head only look from the corner of his vision to find the brown haired boy sporting the symbol of Konoha upon his forehead, probably in his early teens if Zao was to guess just based on looks. He seemed to circle slightly in front of where the man sat alone at the two person table as these strange action caused him to pause, gently returning the half empty cup onto the ceramic serving dish. As Noeru found himself directly in front of Zao now he would be able to see through the messy of white hair the symbol of the Hidden Sand inscribed upon the forehead protector he wore. Though his clothing were nothing like a shinobi should wear they were common appearal for the spirit user as he tilted his head listening to the string of words that flew from the child's mouth.

"My young friend..." He started to reply, pausing briefly as his single hand found itself a place on the table to rest, a slight smirk forming on the man's thin lips as he continued. "Shouldn't I be asking you that question? Sneaking around like some sort of person with impure intentions on their mind?" Zao had responded to the accusation from the genin with a question of his own his tone caring nothing but lightly spoken words with no hint of anger or irritation at the boy's actions, only slightly curiosity at the moment. Looking to see if the young shinobi was able to look at his own position and realize how strange he seemed out in the crowd of people, even having drawn the attention of a few of the nearby customers who were slowly inching away from the situation. As Noeru had come closer to the Suna-nin he'd be able to tell that despite the flowing robes and prayer beads, the man before him was missing his left arm. The traditional weapons of a shinobi were no visible, tucked away within the folds of the robe he wore, perhaps he could be mistake for some type of religious figure who belonged to the allied village of the young genin...

Once he eventually managed to get a good look on the man at the table. He quickly realized that this was in fact a shinobi, one from the Village Hidden in the Sand. An ally of his village, it quickly dawned on him that he was too quick to cast his judgement on this man. But it was for the safety of the people in this town, he could have someone whos intentions were not kind. Noerus demeanor chaned as he decided on his new course of action and bowed towards the man after he had finished speaking. 'My apologies, I didn't realize that you were from the Village Hidden in the Sand.' And after a moment he stood straight once again to take a good look at who he was dealing with.

Noeru had never met this man before, but he could tell from the way he was dressed, and how he carried himself, that this man was someone. He also noticed that the man was missing an arm, and realized that he person must have definitely have been through some serious dealings in his time. This might have been a good time to find out a little more about the Village Hidden in the Sand, he had already heard things from Mimi and Aki, but this person seemed to be old enough to have a life time of experience on them. Without asking, which probably came across as a little rude, Noeru walked up to the table and pulled the chair away from it so that he could perch in the seat before the man. The realization that a few of the people in the area were looking at him dawned, and with no clue on how to actually get out of this awkward situation, Noeru simply decided to style it out, shinobi style to be precise.

'Shinobi business... Carry on with your day.......' The youth said, once again allowing his confidence to gleam through his words as he looked at every single one of the people watching. Soon, all of the did as they were told and the awkwardness of the situation had vanished. Finally, his gaze returned to the weathered man before him, who seemed to appear curious about the meaning of this situation. At that moment, Noeru was not fully sure himself what caused him to feel so threatened by this mans demeanor. A hunch went over him, and action followed. Sometimes shinobi have to act on their intuition, he thought as he tried to think of something to say, but in the end it was probably safe to start with something friendly.

'Do you know Aki and Mimi? The words flown from his mouth as his eyes gazed upon the mans headband before moving back to his face.

As the genin bowed, apologizing for his previous demeanor the older shinobi couldn't help but wave off the actions lightly with his right hand as a quiet moment of laughter at Noeru's actions slipped through the man's thin lips at the moment. Just as Zao was about to motion with his hand for the genin to take a seat with him to perhaps help with the currently awkward situation that had developed the boy did so on his own accord, it seemed that the young one had a bit of confidence in himself or at least was able to play off the situation as he followed up with this being something of standard shinobi business and nothing to worry about. This caused for the man to smile warmly and shake his head from one side to the other allowing his extensively long locks of snow white hair to drift around the edge's of his somewhat plain looking face.

Raising his hand with just the index finger raised in the direction of the nearby server, he called for one more cup and as everything started to revert back to normal the young woman brought over a cup of the same tea that Zao was currently having for the genin to enjoy. Bidding them a good day the server went back about her duties helping at the small tea shop leaving the two shinobi to their own devices now. "Ah, are you friends with them?" The two names, Aki and Mimi, there were only names that he had learned recently and that was mainly due to him escorting the Suna convoy across the now massive country of Wind to Aroma for these exams. So he knew of them, but only from their talks on the road here. But what he did know was that he favored little Aki due to them sharing some common interest, mainly in the art of weapon and item crafting. Waiting for the reply from his company he then would continue. "I only know them from our journey here, until recently I had been doing a lot of traveling and hadn't spent to much time with the younger generation."

Though, Zao was interested in just level of allies one could consider Suna and Konoha, he'd even heard that travel between the two village was even easier than it had been. It would seem that the war had actually enhanced the partnership that the two village's had before he had dropped off the map for the last few years worth of them. It seemed that their was still much he had to catch up on. "Will you be competing in the exams or did you come to watch?" Of course Zao had come to watch the exams, particularly the matches with Aki but he also hoped that he'd be able to meet up with some of his own friends but so far he'd not seen any of them which was slightly worrisome. But shaking the possibly dark though he kept his thoughts in the present and focused upon the conversation at hand, for a genin the boy was a bit interesting. Perhaps he should start paying more attention to the younger generation...

The actions of the man did not go unnoticed by Noeru. Following them with his gaze, Noeru watched the server approach them with another cup of the same beverage that the snow white haired man had before him. With gentle grace, Noeru thanked her before she retreated to her previous station. Curiosity piping through his veins, the youth inspected the fluid with by lifting the cup towards his face. The gaze followed it through its gentle motions as it swirled around the porcelain cup, absorbing the scents of the freshly crushed tea leaves. For a moment, the youth was overwhelmed by the beauty of this simple, but fascinating fluid. It's simpleness rivaled its complexity, making the action of drinking it something that should be performed with grace in order to allow all the senses to experience it to the highest possible degree.

Finally, the time came. Noeru's lips touched the porcelain cup and the feeling of warmth hit his lips as he tilted his head and allowed contents to flow into his mouth. There was no beverage he could compare. Admiration was the only thing left for him to do. Gently, the cup returned to its former place, and his mind dealt with the trans his mind entered upon experiencing the tea. A moment had passed when the youth finally came to. Completely disorientated for moment, his gaze rushed around the area while trying to remember where he was. The server who brought the tea over to him was watching, and chuckling. It appeared this experience was a common thing, and someone who had not had it would experience it in very similar ways. Noeru shook his head from left to right before returning his gaze to the man at the other end to the table.

'Wow...' the youth simply let out as his dazed demeanor began to return to his standard composed, yet energetic, behavior. Finally, everything the man had said reached his brain and was processed. A nod of his head as he confirmed that he did know Mimi, and Aki. 'Yep, the two of them came to Konoha a few weeks ago, we were suppose to travel here together, but they ended up being pulled back to Sungakure before the time came.' The youth said and awaited for the man formulate a response. In the meantime, questions arose in his head. Ones that triggered the actions that led up until this moment. Hoping that he would get the answers, and more. Noeru sat patiently, his facial features relaxed, his right arm resting on the table with his hand gently wrapped around the cup with a little bit of tea left in the bottom of it. Partially distracted, as his mind urged him to swirl the last little bit right in that moment. He managed to resist the temptation, in order to fully enjoy it a little later.

'That sounds awesome! Where did you travel to? And yep, I hope I'm not going to have to fight Mimi or Aki in the bouts... Especially Mimi. Noeru said as his mind recalled the intense training session Mimi put him through back in Konoha.

The young man's words only confirmed the inter-village connection that existed between Konoha and Suna seemed to clearly have strengthened even further than what he could remember back before the war had broken out and the countries were vying for the land of others to expand in size and power. He smiled as he looked down at the half empty cup of tea that his finger tips rested against the smooth porcelain sides, remember back to the time when one of Konoha's jounin Gene had ventured with one of the first true visits to Suna with a group of young Leaf ninja. 'Things have come quite a ways since that time...that has been six or maybe even seven years since that visit. I wonder how that guy is doing....' Bright blue eyes refocused and lifted themselves from the exotic beverage and back to his company as the shinobi spoke out asking about his travels and then how he hoped he would not have to fight against either of the two Suna genin who he mentioned knowing.

"Are Mimi and Aki that formidable?" A interested smile formed on the think lips of the white haired man as he leaned in slightly, perhaps there was more to Aki and Mimi than he had learned so far. Originally he had been more interested in Aki because of his crafting abiities but it would seem that this young man setting across the table from him feared Mimi to some extent from that previous encounter. 'How interesting. These fights should be fun to watch.' After allowing the boy time to inform him about the two young companions he had brought along on this adventure into Aroma country and the chuunin exams he would make mention of the other part of Neoru's words about travel. "Well, I've been lucky enough to travel a number of places..."

Just thinking about the number of places that he'd been in his life after becoming a bannin at such a young age caused for the man to pause just to think, his almost glowing crystal eyes hid themselves for a moment aiding in him searching through his old memories of a time when he simply enjoyed the adventure. Traveling from place-to-place attempting to hunt down historical artifacts and places that were lost and claimed by the passing of time. It had brought him many joys but also many sorrows. Forcing a smile the man began to speak, "I've traveled a large portion of the mainland and to some of the other island countries as well. You'd be surprised just how man place you can find that are...otherworldly out there." Zao had to pause to find the right word to help him describe his thoughts that were taking him back to his adventures traveling through a number of spirit worlds through the use of his spacetime abilities and strange sync with spirits in general. Though it wasn't something he could talk about out loud in a place or setting such as this one, nor to a genin as much of that was a personal secret of the man who very few who weren't higher ranking than himself at the time knew about.

"But I must say, one of the most beautiful places that I have been fortunate enough to travel to was Tianguó (Land of Heaven) in the Shrimp continent to the south of the mainland. There you can find a range of tall mountains which the pious locals have for long generations called the Pillars of Heaven, these are beautiful to see and are quite possibly the tallest mountains in the world." The man recalled the serene view that he remembered of that place, but the war had even reached the Shrimp continent and though it could not change the landscape it had terribly affected those who called it their home. Hopefully the restored temporary peace would allow for them to recover. "You can meet so many interesting people and friends out in the world, even some unique ones like my little friend Hana." From inside the flowing robes their was movement on his left hip and it seemed as if something was alive as the plant spirit who had herself sealed into a small puppet body heard her name and poked her head out to see why her master was talking about her.

From where the front sections of the robe crossed over one another a small, green head popped out looking up at her master who only smiled as he looked down having felt her moving around. He only gave her a simple nod as if saying it was okay before the small puppet body that resembled some sort of a flower sprite tumbled out of the robe and into the man's lap causing him to chuckle to himself. The tiny puppet body was barely a foot tall and the spirit was still getting use to her new body but at least she had her own mind back and was thankful for that. If there was someone nearby who could see the small spirit puppet they would probably be fooled to think that the body was organic, this was a testament to the time and level of skill Zao had when he had hand carved the puppet body for his spirit friend and the level of detail he went into in putting on the finishing touches. "This is my friend, Hana." The small puppet looked back and up at her master before across the table at the Konoha ninja, unsure what to say or do a gentle voice of that sounded like a small girl exited the puppets tiny mount, some excitement contained in the nervous spirit's single word of greeting to Noeru. "Hi!"

An old ghost passing through

Post by hobnob » Sat Aug 07, 2021 4:44 am

That encounter between Mimi and Noeru ended with the youth being absolutely shattered from the intense training session that Mimi had put him through. It also involved a brief exchange of blows, in which Mimi had completely outwitted the boy who ended up being launched across a field. Luckily that was where their little bout ended, ended Noeru managed to get away without any major bruises. What followed was, a training session that made him feel like his lungs were going to come out through his mouth. Noeru shuddered as he recalled those painful memories, and quickly decided thinking about something so painful in this situation would not engage the man before him. The dark pupils fixated on the man as he seemed to be deep in thought himself. Eventually, their eyes met as the man lifted his gaze from the porcelain cup and inquired about Mimi and Aki.

'Aki I'm not too sure about Aki. He must MVTM in his squad, as he can adapt to most situations through his skills.' His hand wondered to the back of his head as he fluffed his hair up before he began talking about Mimi. 'Mimi is on another level. I only exchanged blows with her for a little, but she completely outclassed me. And plus she has Azir... Not sure what exactly he is capable of... But I doubt he's just a mascot.' A slight chuckle escaped his lips as he recalled Azir sitting on his shoulder and egging him on to chase after Mimi after their bout. Recalling this made him really curious about the creature, wishing Mimi answered the many questions he asked about him. Which she was hesitant to do, and eventually refused for the matters of secrecy, and most likely to have an ace up her sleeve if they were to battle in the chuunin exams.

After a little moment, the man acknowledge what was aid, and proceeded to speak of his adventures across the world. The boys attention was pinned by the mans description of some the places he had been to. Describing the places with the word 'otherworldly,' made him wonder what places out there can be so interesting for a man of this stature to detail them in such a way. A question regarding this would follow. But for now, the youth sat quietly and absorbed all of what the man had to say. Listening to other peoples stories was really inspiring, and made Noeru wonder about what he would do once he had progressed through Konohas military ranks and was left to his devices. Everything this man said, would contribute to his decisions in the future. Listening to him really made him curious about what the other lands were like. Konoha, its outskirts, the route to Aroma country is all he knew of the world, and the desire to go and experience more of it was growing with every word the man spoke.

The man began speaking about the land to the south of the mainland, 'Shrimp Continent,' the term brought back memories from his days as an academy student, when he was stuck in a classroom listening to his sensei preach about the lay of the world. Not paying attention to the bulk of all the information the academy provided, it drove his curiosity even more. Not living through the experiences of others made him want to get up and go, see the world for himself. The mans words carried on, and he went on describing locations in a country known as Tiangóu. 'Pillars of Heaven' was the title given to the mountain range in the country. The description of the mountains and the title itself had pushed the country up to the first place of his touring destinations.

A few moments later, the man mentioned meeting people across the world, leading to a small creature popping up from between the mans robes. Noeru attention shifted, this creature was small and roughly the size of Azir, who was Mimis little accomplice. 'Whoah...' Amazement radiated from the youth as he watched the little creature, who the man introduced as 'Hana.' Noeru took note of Hana who appeared to move with grace and made him compare her to Azir even more.

'Where did you meet her? She remind me of Azir... Although she is much more pleasant to look at.' A chuckle followed his speech as he thought about Azir's demonic features.

"Haha." The older gentleman chuckled lightly, the response from the Leaf genin was expected but the amazement that came from the boy's eyes reminded him of himself when he was a kid so interested in so many things. But spirits had always been at the top of the list for him and it was what he trained and specialized in as a younger shinobi and what eventually allowed for him to be recognized to the prestigious rank of Bannin. The tiny hands of the puppet grabbed hold of the edge of the table, as it currently stood in the man's lap allowed for its cute face to peer over at the figure seated across from her master, it was a bit off for her master to be dealing with shinobi at this age as those that he normally dealt with were older, more experienced ninja needing something from him. Also, he normally wouldn't allow for her to come out and show herself like this...it would seem that the last five years had truly altered her creator's mindset about different things within the world of today. But for her, it was a bit of a pleasant surprise as she used the strength she had in the slender leaf like hands and arms to pull herself up onto the table but didn't venture any further than that from her master, almost acting cautious and protective over the one armed man. Not many people knew just how dangerous she could be if it was needed...

"We've been together several years now, but I first met her in a remote part of wind country. Due to an accident her body and part of her soul were damaged and using this type of vessel was the only means of saving her at the time." Truth was mixed with lies as the older man spoke to his younger companion at the tea table, in truth the spirit had been a bit of an artifical creation that combined a troublesome spirit with a rare desert flower with chakra absorbent properties. The end result was the creation of the spirit pet he soon after named Hana. Though it wasn't a lie that her real body had been damaged as the dark, corrosive chakra of the Demon that had enslaved her and inhabited his own body had nearly destroyed the the fragile creature. Luckily, the man had managed to devise a sealing method to save not only Hana but his other spirit companions. As he spoke about the accident their was a visible hint of sadness upon his face briefly, stemming from two reasons. The most obvious was the damage his spirit companions had endured from the Demon's chakra and the second was that he still had been unable to find a method to save his love from the clutches of the very same chakra. The human soul was quite a bit more intricate and complex than the soul of a spirit, making it even more difficult to deal with...but he still had a few options left that had a chance of working, though that chance of them actually being effective were still almost none.

Sighing to himself the man refocused himself once more, glancing down at the young spirit puppet below him, even the genin would be able to understand the wording when he spoke about the spirit's current vessel as probably not being her original body which was even more beautiful than the one she operated now. "Azir is an interesting creature, and Leimine comes from an interesting heritage. It's quite a special relationship." The Souseji house was another intently that was absorbed into the life of spirits, having a special symbiotic relationship with a spirits and the spirit world. As a man who had studied spirits in the vast forgotten texts and places of the world, it would be hard for the Bannin to admit that he didn't have something of a soft spot in his heart for the members of this clan. At the mention of her being more pleasant to look at even the older man couldn't help but raise his hand up to cover the grin that cross his thin lips, Hana on the other hand stood proudly on the edge of the table at the compliment, it would seem that the genin might be slowly winning over the cautious entity. "I thought so too."

The tiny female voice would enter Noeru's ears as the spirit happily interacted with the Konoha shinobi, waving her leave-like right hand as a gesture of greeting, though her voice sounded young like a child the tone and manner of speaking would lead one to believe that she was an adult. For the spirit, being around seven to eight years old at this point could be considered already at the level of intelligence of a normal young adult plus being around a well studied man like Zao also helped to increase her own intellect and expand her thoughts about the world. "You didn't let that ugly spirit beat you, did you?" She straight up questioned the young boy now and her owner gave a helpless look towards his friend at the moment, raising his only arm and hand slightly to the side as if he couldn't do anything about the plant puppet's actions. In his mind Zao found it a little funny, but it was good to see his old friend acting like her normal self again after everything that had happened.

Noeru's eyes widened as the man spoke of the little creatures soul being damaged. He had never thought that something like that was possible. It was now obvious to him that he had much to learn, and his mind quickly raised questions about how the man managed to help Hana. 'How...? How did you manage to help her when she was in that situation? How is this even possible? Do you have to be skilled in a certain type of power? Is Hana's soul fully recovered now?' Noeru spoke and spoke, and eventually ran out of breath. Having to stop for a little bit would give the sorcerer before him the time to respond to his questions, at least to some of them.

Patiently he sat there, listening to everything that the man was saying, thinking about how it could be possible for a shinobi to be able to work at such level of spirituality to be able to actually move a soul from one body, and place it into another. This could not be any normal ninjutsu, he though, this might not even be ninjutsu at all. All this had confused the youth. Knowledge was something that he was always in pursuit of, and now he had stumbled upon a topic that had really absorbed his interest. When he returns back to Konoha, he planned on spending time delving into books about spirits across the world. Speaking with Leimine about Azir was also on his mind. If Leimine had a spirit companion, this individual had one, maybe Noeru could have on too. This was something that would give him a lot to think about as he went about his days, after all finding a spirit was no easy feat. But, this man had met Hana in the wind country, which told him that it was possible to stumble upon them. A question he would ask shorty.

Shortly, the man would speak about Leimine and Azir, mentioning that Mimi comes from a special heritage. This was not something Noeru gave much thought, he assumed that Azir and Leimine just met and decided to support one another. Judging from what he was just told, that was not the case. Everything this man said to Noeru simply raised more questions, it was a vicious cirlce, one where no individual ever feels fulfilled. Noeru Took a deep breath as he listened to the man speak and slowly began to fromulate more questions in his head. 'You mentioned Mimi's heritage... Is he like... descendant from these spirits or something?' After saying those words out loud, Noeru realized how daft he must have sounded. But in face of true, possessive, curiosity, there were no daft questions, especially to someone who had just found out that a human being, could interact with souls of humans, and spirits.

Hearing Hana agree with him about the appearance of Azir brought a big smile to Noerus face. Not only did Hana know exactly who they were talking about, but she also had developed an opinion about him. Noerus curiosity grew even more when Hana asked him if he had let Azir beat him. With no real answer to that question he began to wonder about Azir. When Mimi and he were together back in Konoha, he had asked Mimi about him, but she did not give an answer, instead she remained very mysterious about her spirit companion. Now thinking that Azir was some sort of very strong figure in the spirit world, Noeru pursued the topic.

'Well... We did not exactly fight. Me and Mimi had a bit of a shuffle but Azir never joined in. Is he really strong?

"Haha, slow down my young friend." It felt nice, almost uplifting to be able to just hold a simple conversation after the things that he'd seen, experienced, and even done of the past handful of years...it was something that he had almost forgotten and was like a tiny piece of his darkened soul had been washed clean...at least for a moment. "Study spirits and the techniques that revolve around them has been a life's mission, but sadly I have not been able to help restore her soul completely yet. I'm afraid that is a level of power that perhaps even I cannot reach." Soft blue eyes looked down at the tiny creature who had literally taken a seat at this point but at least she was alive and that was what truly mattered for the middle aged man at this point as he reached up with his single arm and gently pat the desert flower spirit on the head and shook his head lightly with a smile at just how cute she could be sometimes. "But I don't have any plans to stop trying to help my friend."

Most people might call their companion just that, a companion. Some tool to be used to help them in combat or other tasks but that was something that truly made the man sitting across from the young genin a bit different than others. They were not only there to help him but each and every spirit under his control, with the exception of those brought to this realm by the demon hegemon were spirits that he'd either helped or befriended that wanted to travel by his side and experience the human realm at his side. Though he could tell as his gaze lifted from his own friend back onto the young man before him that something else was still lingering on the child's mind and so Zao paused his words and reached out to softly take hold of his tea cup. Allowing the boy the chance to speak now as he sipped lightly on the last few sips of the warming tea. The bannin couldn't help but smile at the boy, he was very inquisitive which led him to believe that perhaps there was a friendly rivalry building between this genin and the other one from his own home village.

"Hm, well it's has to do with the clan's history. But I'm not sure they'd like for me to speak aloud about it to those outside the village. You should seek those answer from Mimi." That kind of information was truly something that outside village's shouldn't know the truth about as it was the primary strength of that family and it was truly up to the members of that clan themselves for whom they exposed information like that to. So he could only tease the genin for a moment before pushing him that he'd need to see Mimi again to seek out the answers to the questions that he had. Though the latter question from Noeru was something that he could at least discuss with the young man.

He would place the cup back down with a gentle tap of the glass onto the glass saucer before he reached up to rub his chin as though thinking about something before he nodded and looked back to his young friend. "Their relationship is a symbiotic one you could say, the strong one gets the stronger the other gets. One could say that their strengths are somewhat equal, if that helps to answer your question...or at least in the future when the young one develops their control over the spirit more." Zao smiled, watching the reaction from the young boy at the potential strength that the kid's rival might have but more so wanted to see if the boy was up to the challenge of competing with him..

Noeru felt the easiness that washed over the man, he seemed to have relaxed a great deal. He seemed almost relieved about how today has turned out, this brought joy to the youth and he himself began feeling more and more relaxed. The conversation remained as interesting, but to Noeru, it became more casual, he felt like he was becoming pally with this man, whose name he was yet to find out. A formality that he did not want to bring up and ruin their conversation. They were both enjoying one anothers comapny and it would be sad to allow questions like that to ruin the flow of the conversation. He would just have to remember to ask for the mans name before they parted ways.

A chuckle escaped the youths lips as he heard the man tell him to slow down, It was true he burst out with an array of questions, too many for anyone to keep track of. After a brief moment the youth calmed down and once again began paying attention to what the man had to say. Hearing him express concern about his own prowess, about him not being able to ever fully restore the soul of little Han, made Noeru feel so lost and confused. Before him sat a man who was able to manipulate the souls of creatures in order to help them in anyway he could, and in the face of a possible failure he expressed sorrow at his own lack of skill. In Noeru's eyes, the man was one of the mightiest individuals he had ever met, he had never met anyone who could use the skills that this man had; not even Mimi, who seemed to only be able to communicate with Azir. And when the man said that he had no plans to stop trying to fully restore her, Noeru realised that this person might just be one of the greatest, kindest, and most caring people to have ever lived. It was rare to come across someone who would willingly invest so much of their time to help others, especially lost souls such as Hana appeared to be.

'That's... pretty incredible... if I'm honest...' The youth said as if he had a stutter. The reality was that he tried to speak without allowing his emotion to leak through his eyes and voice, it was a way for him to remain as composed as he could. It was a strange thing, but deep down Noeru was not keen on showing emotions infront of people, especially before people whom he just met. And with trying to remain as composed as possible, he felt relieved when the man changed the subject to that of Mimi, and her secret relationship with Azir. Not revealing an awful lot, Noeru was left, once again, with more questions. He completely understood the secrecy that surrounded each and every clan, just like his own, the Senju, the were not keen or revealing any information to outsiders, he could not condemn the man for not willing to give any more than he did; after all he was a shinobi of the village Hidden in the Sand, and allies they may be, clan secrets would only remain with them, unless revealed by the clan members themselves.

'I get it, I feel silly even asking you that, it was just a heat of the moment thing. I really just want to know more about them, it's interesting how they're always together you know...' Noeru said in response, but cut the answer short, realizing that if carrying on would only put the man in a more awkward situation, that being something that he did not want. Instead, he looked down at his cup of tea that looked almost empty, and realiszed that the tea would be cold by now, but he decided to take one final swig of it, only to realize that this tea was equally a nice cold, as it was warm. Finally, the cup returned to the saucer with a gentle 'clink. Giving the man enough time to respond. And to his surprise, the man continued speaking about Mimi and Azir, still not revealing anything significant, but now he knew what to expect from Azir. 'Symbiotic relationship... their strengths are equal to one another...?' Thoughts bounced around Noerus mind as he processed the information.

Fighting Mimi fundamentally meant fighting a pair of twins, or that is how he understood the explanation. He knew that that was not accurate due to Mimi requiring to improve her control over Azir more, but at the end of the day, anyone fighting Mimi would essentially be fighting two individuals of equal strength. Something that was not to be taken lightly, especially with Azir's sneakiness and Mimi's fighting spirit. The flame that was burning within him grew larger as he thought about fighting them. He hoped that he would be paired against them in the Chuunin exams, and that neither of the would hold back. Noeru was different from the other Senju, he loved combat. He loved placing himself in situations with people whom he had little chance of winning, even thinking about it energized him to take action. He wanted to pit his skills against others and see how he could improve, physically and mentally.

This was not the day for it. This conversation he was having, was having a very good impact on his mentality. Being able to take a step back from this burning energy within him allowed his body to revitalize before the Chuunin exams began. This was exactly what he needed. So, after taking a slow, deep breath Noeru looked at the man before him. 'How did you find out about spirits i the first place?' The change of topic was a planned one, if they carried on talking about the strengths of other people, Noeru would only get more determined and motivated to head out and train, instead he wanted to find out how this man fell into this field of sorcery.

Zao could only shake his head lightly, this was quite an entertaining chat with a member of the new generation, he hadn't thought that their would be so much fire in them but it was a welcome occurrence for the now older man after his experiences during the war. He glanced over towards the waitress, waving his hand lightly in the air to get her attention in turn letting the young woman know that he'd like a second cup of their exotic tea. Why not have another? Who knew the next time he'd be able to experience it as the herbs for the tea only grew in a select few areas of the world. As his hand returned to the table it would briefly land upon the un-bloomed looking flower that was the top of Hana's head causing the spirit to look up at her master, able to read his thoughts she turned back to the genin and gave a wave of her tiny hand before crawling back into the kimono like top that the Bannin was wearing disappearing from view. After all, it wasn't safe for a specimen like herself to hang about in a place like this. She was after all one of only a few spirits like her, one created through the experimentation of shinobi.

The Bannin had worked with the Naegi clan doing experimentation with special plant flowers raised with a mixture of spirit energy and their own before fusing them with the spirit's Zao had helped them capture through Tenku, it was an attempt to create a new kind of weapon that would strength the clan as a whole. Though it had not gone completely to plan it was how he came to have both Toge and Hana. With the little spirit flower pet tucked away from the prying eyes of the world the man's well manicured hand came back to rest upon the wooden table. "Spirits...you could say I've been intrigued by their lore since I was a boy around your age." The thought made him grin as he remembered an old man with gray hair and a pointed grey beard who use to be the first shinobi mentor in the man's life. He had been a retired shinobi who was hired by the ninja's merchant father to help his son to achieve both of their dreams. Zao whom had only wanted to become a great shinobi and his father's dream was for the merchant family to be recognized amongst the other great families who produced strong young men as shinobi's of Suna.

"My first mentor, he was a man who first taught me about spirits and the spirit worlds, their history stretches back much further than our own here in this plane. But that is a rather long story and not something we could discuss over just a few cups of tea my young friend." As his words came to an end the pretty young woman brought over another set of tea cups, taking the empty ones as she replaced them with the full cups. "I do have all day, but aren't the signups going to close soon and first rounds scheduled to start soon after lunch?" He pitched the question to the future generation of Konoha who was still so young and interesting, the boy had come to participate and Zao did not want to have him miss out for some old stories of his, perhaps there would be another time for that. Zao had not visited Konoha since regaining his freedom, a number of his friends were shinobi there and he wondered how each of them was doing after the war had ended. Due his circumstances during that time he had not been able to keep up with what was going on in the world besides what the Hegemon had been focused on. "The tea is on me, I hope that you do well in your matches. I will watch to see if Mimi and you are paired up against one another in the tournament."

The tea cup once more found its way up to the thin lips of the man, its revitalizing liquor helped to warm his soul a bit more before he sat it back down. Though he didn't want to push the boy and the friendly conversation away their was a feeling he was having that another wanted to talk to him, or at least it was the feeling one got from years of experience as a shinobi, that feeling of being watched by another. His right hand dropped below the table and formed a handful of one handed seals before he let his chakra spread out invisibly around him using the mind's eye technique, allowing for him to scan the surrounding area for whomever it was that might be there. Perhaps he was just a bit paranoid after everything he'd been through...after all he wasn't allow to go anywhere really with out some sort of supervision and the fuuin markings that were hiding behind his flowing attire were another piece of proof on that matter. While he was 'free', at the same time he wasn't. But he hoped to one day regain the lost trust and confidence from his homeland...

Noeru nodded in acknowledgement as he listened carefully to the man who expressed his past and the love for spirits of the world since he was a boy. Creating feelings of warmth as he himself thought about all the things that he loved, the things that he wanted to pursue in life, and eventually being in a similar position to this man, who was obviously highly skilled in that area. At the mention of a mentor the youths attention turned from the girl who appeared with a tea pot. Noeru had always wanted a mentor, knowing full well that with one he would progress much quicker than he was, but the man had quickly changed the topic of the subject to his the chunin exams before taking a sip of the tea and becoming strangely focused on something. Not realizing the man had performed a string of hand seals, Noeru assumed he had just remembered something, and so ignored it making the most of delicious beverage before him, sipping casually, allowing the warm fluid to revitalize his body with each and every sip.

It did not last long. The tea was simply too good and Noeru could not stop himself from devouring it quickly, and within a few minutes the tea pot was entirely empty and Noeru was picking himself up to leave the man in peace.
