Post by Ace Trainer » Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:00 pm

The arena has a 25m radius and is mostly comprised of grass land, trees to provide some shelter and texture to the battlefield. However, 5m from the wall surrounding the entire arena is sandy terrain. The arena is marked by a 20m high wall that is built in the shape of a doughnut, the seats are layered with ten rows running along the whole perimeter of the arena. There is a tower that is supported by pillars and columns above the northers side of the stadium, this is where the representatives of other nations are seated. The participants have the own place to wait until their turn, it is at the bottom section of the wall surrounding the battlefield and has a viewing window that allows the participants to watch fighting that take place. Yusuke will begin at the eastern most point, standing directly in front of the sand. Noeru will begin at the western most point, standing directly in front of the sand.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by Rudi » Sun Jun 27, 2021 11:49 am

Yusuke arrived in the arena in his typical attire. His blue robes loosely skirted around his silhouette and the young man stood with confidence. Having almost a year to train at The Greasy Wheel, a taijutsu gym for members of the Kirigakure shinobi forces, Yusuke had developed a strategy for the fight. His plan was to draw away from his opponents advantage using stealth. Without a sword to perform his techniques on the ground, Yusuke was at a disadvantage when it came to offense so he scoped out the trees around him for a spot to wait for his opponent to make an offensive attack.

15 meters from the boundary line sands where Yusuke stood waiting for the match to begin, a thick tree stood. Standing 10 meters in the air at least, the tree would be perfect for him to watch below and wait for an opportunity to strike.

The klaxon alarmed and Yusuke's hands went up to form seals as dashed he moved forward. The Hidden Mist jutsu began to fan out around where he ran, just 5 meters from the edge of tournament boundary. Yusuke watched the mist cover a small portion of the path ahead, and as visibility became limited he pivoted right towards the tree he had elected as a bunker. As the Mist covered the area behind him where the origin of his jutsu had been, Yusuke climbed into the tree and watched for his opponent ahead.

The mist around him was thick, but he could see just close to the edge of the mists. If his opponent ran into the face of the mists Yusuke would spot him. Behind him the mists were even thicker, and he planned to lure his enemy across the boundary if they were brave enough to enter the mists.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by hobnob » Sun Jun 27, 2021 12:33 pm

The waiting rooms were pretty lame. A bench, locker, and a clock is all they had to offer. Noeru not really being interested in those things was led on his back, his legs were propped up against the wall almost vertically. He let out a loud sigh, knowing that soon it would be time for his fight to begin, and this room offered no help when it came to easing the nerves. Simulating fighting in his mind was the only thing he could muster to keep himself entertained until the fight began. It was not easy. Not knowing who his opponent was, not even what village he came from, no information what so ever, he struggled to imagine what sort of strategy he would assume. He was left to coming up with something on the spot. The decision he had to make was whether he would fight offensively or defensively.

The sound of someone banging on the door came, and soon a voice followed. 'You've got two minutes.' And as quickly as that, he knew that the moment he had been awaiting for the past few months had arrived. He took a deep breath, getting onto his feet. Hand moved up and down the fabric of the clothes he was wearing as he dusted himself of before he made his way over to the door leading to the arena.

Noeru opened the door and entered a small tunnel that led him to the field filled with trees, grass, and sad on the boundary. Memorising the lay of the land, he noticed his opponent at the opposite end.

'Ah-Ooh-Gha,' the klaxon blared, signalling the start.

Noeru saw his opponent move, and chose to keep him at a distance for now, moving in the opposite direction. Eyes remained on his actions, until they no longer could. A mist surrounded the youth. 'Will have to stay away from that...' Noeru thought as he headed for the trees opposite the mist. There, he crouched down next to a tree, and performed a string of hand signs. Suddenly, thorns erupted from the ground and surrounded him, leaving just enough room for him to peer out and see the battlefield. In this state, Noeru blended into the environment.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by Rudi » Tue Jun 29, 2021 2:50 pm

Yusuke snuck out from the mist, searching for his opponent. He wandered through some woods, cutting through the center of the arena. Without his mist to cover him, Yusuke moved extra carefully with stealth. Despite his soft step, the leaves underneath his feet were particularly crisp. He moved quick, trying to kick up as little dirt as possible while on the way toward his opponent.

Creeping up carefully behind trees, away from the mist now, Yusuke noticed his opponent far away with a living bush around them. Suspecting the Konoha ninja to be a Senju, Yusuke struggled to come up with a strategy. He hoped to get in close to his opponent, and searched around the ferns he was hiding inside. Yusuke knelt further down, in prone. He grabbed a stick hiding in the flora, hoping it's length will serve as an impromptu blade. The stick wasn't particularly special, it did had a curve to it. Perfect for pretending it was a blade, and he tucked it under his belt.

"I feel like an amateur, a poor one." Yusuke thought to himself and turned his attention back towards where his opponent was in view. Watching them from a 15 meter distance at least, just barely comprehensible through the grass, Yusuke waited for his opponent to make a move.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by hobnob » Wed Jun 30, 2021 6:04 pm

Noeru remained withing his shield of thorns as he scouted the area for his opponent. Unlucky, he crouched down and remained vigilant of his surroundings. Knowing his weaknesses, he further engaged his jutsu, allowing his thorns to spread underground and build a network that he would use if he were lucky enough to spot his opponent. His knees touched the ground as he simultaneously tightened the spiral of thorn around him, making his defense even harder to bypass, only leaving gaps wide enough for him to see into the distance.

The mist still remained, too dense for him to see into. With no knowledge of where his opponent was. Noeru focused on the only thing that would give him an advantage. The jutsu spread underground, now it reached a 7 meter radius. With this set up, an idea popped into his head on how he could improve this technique. But it was already too late for this to happen now.

Noeru's eyes dashed from one corner of the battlefield to the next. Still no sight of his opponent. 'Where can he be...?' Noeru thought as he narrowed his eyes, trying to make out any movement in the mist. Unfortunately, the mist was too thick for him to see anything and therefore he remained exactly where he was. Crouching and paying attention.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by Rudi » Thu Jul 01, 2021 5:34 pm

Yusuke watched his opponent, who seemed to be sure he was in the mist. The brambles of thorns around him were growing, and the so called swordsman of Kirigakure was sure he would have to strike soon if he had any chance of ascertaining a win from the judges. He hadn't much up his sleeve, with no sword and limited chakra reserves after the Hidden Mist jutsu. So the ninja crept through bushes and ferns, watching his opponent and flanking to the side of him when he had the chance. Yusuke was proficient with stealth movement, and made his way to where he figured a blind spot might rest in the vision of his opponent.

Yusuke stood up behind a tree and moved his hands together, taking his hand off the branch he was using as a sword. His attention was away from Noeru for a second, the Mist Anchor jutsu being his temporary focus to move the mists closer to Noeru, and Yusuke sweated while he exerted his control. He was only capable of so much, and his chakra was waning. The mist proceeded to move as his chakra wove through, and Yusuke had prepared his distraction.

If he was able to stay incognito, he was prepared to strike at his opponents neck. His goal was to siphon Genki from the Senju's blood and activate the power of the Genki Star. If he could achieve bloodshed he might have a chance.

Yusuke turned his attention away from the mists and back at Noeru, making sure his position was safe before lunging forward for the Pearl Strike of his clans Nintaijutsu Style.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by hobnob » Fri Jul 02, 2021 1:31 am

With his eyes fixated on the mist, Noeru realized that it was beginning to move towards him. He found that odd that a jutsu of that size would just begin moving. But it also made him wonder whether his opponent was already close to him. So, he channeled more chakra into his jutsu and focused on controlling it into a cocoon that would serve for defensive purposes. Fighting someone who incorporates stealth into their style required equal skill, or techniques that would serve the user for defensive, and offensive moves simultaneously, and Noeru knew that. The thorn branches wrapped around him, crating a sphere that was almost airtight. With this lack of visibility Noeru was not taking any chances.

Upon completion of his sphere, he would focus on the branches that he had sent below ground previously. Extending their reach further and becoming a denser network than before. As unexciting as this fight was for him, he could was not going to take risks of exposing himself to a stealth fighter just because he was getting bored. He realized that with the mist shifting to surround him, his opponent was most likely in close proximity to him. Waiting this out while preparing his offensive would be the way that he dealt with this jutsu.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by Rudi » Sun Jul 04, 2021 4:17 pm

Watching the Mokuton grow around Noeru was an impressive sight for Yusuke. He had never witnessed the marvelous growth that Wood Release performed over time, however the impression was accompanied by the painful fact he couldn't engage in close quarters combat. To perform any maneuvers that might give Yusuke the opportunity to utilize his advantages with swordsmanship were absent without a sword, and the protection of brambles around his Konoha rival made drawing Genki almost impossible.

Yusuke need to touch blood to the Genki Star on his tongue. The mystical activation of sanguine Genki into his body increased his physical attributes. Without the ability to draw blood, this was useless. Despite having the enviromental advantage, and tactically in an ideal situation; Yusuke wasn't strong enough to brave the growing flora.

Yusuke watched his opponent from a far. The mist had finished its travels and rested near them. The sun was darkened by the refraction of high density water molecules, and hiding in the bush was easy for Yusuke. He had every inclination to attack, however it was clear the Senju Clan had a respectful edge when it came to using woods for defensive measures.

Yusuke scratched the back of his head. The branch he had collected from the ground was resting in his belt, and he would easily be able to get up and enter a Taijutsu stance. He wasn't so sure the advantage with speed would be what he needed. Yusuke was frustrated, and gritted his teeth as he dismissed attacking from afar and expending more chakra.

Waiting in a bush, within 15 meters from Noeru, Yusuke was prepared for a counter attack, certain his enemy would eventually attack him. There were a few trees around him, and the mist was northeast of them. It wouldn't last forever, but he planned to escape into the Mist if Noeru found him. His impromptu sword was not going to make much of a weapon against Noeru's Mokuton.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Post by hobnob » Mon Jul 05, 2021 3:53 pm

The mist moved along the surface of the arena, and Noeru watched it closely. Keeping his guard up for any attack that might be sent his way. However, this did not happen. In fact the opposite happened. The mist stopped short and did not surround him in any way. He found it strange that his opponent decided not to absorb him into the technique that would be used to mask his own movements. With no idea how to interpret this move, Noeru stayed put exactly where he was. All he would do is focus on expanding his jutsu further. So that if it came to it, and he managed to spot his opponent he would be able to attack him spontaneously and accurately.

The thorny vines traveled underground, spreading in all directions. Creating a area that would essentially become his battle ground. The shell around Noeru remained in place for protective purposes. But he had began to realize that it would not be long until the match would be over.

Post by Rudi » Wed Jul 07, 2021 9:19 pm

Yusuke surveyed his opponent from the distance. The thorny vines of his jutsu was growing all over, and with his opponent protected so well Yusuke had few means of an offensive. His fists wouldn't break the wood easily, and the wooden stick at his side wasn't much to slash with. It might make for a decent club, but the Ketsueki doubted if the struggle would be worth it.

Still moving with silence, Yusuke stealthily hopped into a tree, taking a tactical advantage in height over his opponent. He planned for a long range attack, and held together his hands in a mudra as he gathered chakra for another jutsu. Still close to fifteen meters away, he would have to close some distance to reach Noeru.

Standing in a covering of leaves Yusuke was mostly veiled from sight. His fake sword stuck in his belt made for a perfect balance to utilize some Taijutsu, and as he was gathering his chakra Yusuke planned an assault from above.

Yusuke held his hands together, watching Noeru as he prepared his attack. If he had been seen, he wasn't aware of it. For a few seconds in the tree, Yusuke prepared himself.

Post by hobnob » Thu Jul 08, 2021 5:39 am

Noeru yawned within the confines of his perfectly grown sphere of thorns. With no visibility from any direction, it was time for him to make his move. He waved a string of hand signs. He took a deep breath, and suddenly a hole opened up in front of him. At maximum speed he dashed out of his protective sphere and ran around the tree he was stood next to. Zig-zaging among the trees he began to hunt for his opponent. Looking up and down, left and right, he scanned the area to find his enemy who had been missing so far in this match. With no luck so far. Realizing that his opponent was pretty good at hiding, it was good assuming that he was being watched this very moment. So, all he could do is keep on running, hoping that he would eventually find the hiding-nin.

Yusuke prepared himself for a ranged attack in the treetops. To his surprise his opponent left their protective barrier, heading towards the woods. Certain the Senju was looking for him, Yusuke put his hands down.

His opponent was searching for him, and Yusuke intended to attack. He crouched down in the tree, and prepared to execute Akai Hirahira: Pearl Strike while in shrouded still in stealth. As the Senju moved diagonally searching for Yusuke, he primed himself to pounce on the Konoha from above.

From a 15 meter distance Yusuke lunged from above at his swiftest, intending to sink his fangs into the Konoha ninjas neck. Just within the Senjus peripherals, Yusuke had a good flanking angle and ran from behind. Sure his opponent wouldn't see him until it was too late the ninja dashed with silence as he reached the ground and ran from behind Noeru.

Still running at his max speed, Noeru kept turning his head trying to find his opponent. But he had no luck. It seemed he has vanished. Then suddenly he felt contact on his neck. That is when the hand signs he has performed a few moments earlier came to fruition. He was instantly replaced by a log that was led on the ground about 5 meters away. Now facing his opponent, and having a clear sight of him.

'What a creepy guy...' Noeru let out as he watched the guy sink his teeth into the log that would have been him if he had not performed the signs earlier. Simultaneously, he performed a string of hand signs, more thorns erupted from the ground around him and darted towards the boy, who was five meters away, wrapping themselves around his arms and legs, immobilizing him.

Yusuke jumped from a tree 15 meters away and ran towards Noeru in stealth.

If Dot intends to counter his attack, he has to clearly spot him first. Yusuke is running from 15 meters away in silence. He hasn't touched Noeru's neck.

If Noeru has the perception to spot him by visuon, that was his chance but he doesn't have any clear signs of noticing the attack. Instead he "felt something" on his neck, and Dot moved my character to him despite providing a reasonable reaction like performing substitution handseals after disrupting the stealth of the technique.

Then had him biting a log while trapping him with jutsu. That's meta gaming characters.

I understand he knows the gist of the technique, but if Yusuke sees Noeru doing handseals he isn't going to continue attacking him. Dot meta-wrote the interaction by assuming he could substitute his body despite being unaware of where the attack was coming from.

I feel like he should rewind his actions and uncover my stealth technique before countering. Yusuke is hiding and behind Noeru, there should be a clear cause of why Noeru would be able to discover him, as well as counter the action Yusuke is making. He is running, he isn't biting. There is still an arguable 15 meter distance from Yusuke and Noeru, he shouldn't write my characters actions.

I colored, in yellow, the part that clearly states that the user of this technique lunges forwards and attacks the target. Considering what this jutsu says, its evident that Yusuke has attacked Noeru in the post quoted above.

This is why when Yusu made contact with Noeru, the jutsu activated and he was replaced with a nearby log. Leading to Yusu biting into it. If he were to touch him with his hand prior to biting him, Yusu would have been simply touching a log.

As you can see in my post, once he was replaced with the log, Noeru looked at Yusu while performing another jutsu, which moved at a speed of 15, with a strength of 15. The thorns only had to move 5m to reach Yusu.

I didn't meta write anything, if anything its Rudi meta-explaining his actions. In terms of performing a technique, but not performing a technique.

Round 1: Genin Bouts - Yusuke vs Noeru

Linking a technique in the bottom of one’s post indicated an attempt to execute the technique. It is possible, especially with Taijutsu, to abandon execution during the process. Linking it does not require the movement to be performed in full. This doesn’t, however, necessarily mean that there was any control of rudi’s character by dot. Dot was simply writing under the assumption that the movement was complete. Rudi could have corrected this assumption in the next post by posting that their character did something else if they so chose.

Those hand seals were made and then there were a series of movements and actions performed over the course of the two posts which occurred between seals and activation of Change of Body Stance. At this point I’d like to state that it read to me as if those hand seals were to open the hole in the thorns, and you should have listen what technique you were casting st that point in that post.

Change of Body stance is an instantaneously activated technique, it does not contain anything in its description which indicates it can be held in the way described above, especially over the course of multiple posts. If it could, everyone would simply activate it first thing every thread.

As a result, Noeru is not able to utilise the change of body stance technique in the way described above. They would have to, at the very least, be aware they were under attack.

It is for Noeru to revise with a different reaction that they deem appropriate.

Noeru would simply carry on running and making the most of his speeds. Hoping that he was fast enough to outrun the kiri ninja. He would carry on running ahead moving between the trees and eventually out of the wood into the open arena. His head was twisting and turning as he carried on searching for his opponent, ahead, to the left, to the right, behind him with the corners of his eyes. He figured that the youth would not be able to hide so well in the open arena was was bound to be seen eventually.

A rock fell out of the sky and knocks Yusuke unconcious, the judges all release a collective sigh of relief that this ridiculously long battle had finally reached its end. Noeru would advance.
