Challenges: Proximus vs Aiya, Desomonsuta, Ico, and Neoru

The arena has a 25m radius and is mostly comprised of grass land, trees to provide some shelter and texture to the battlefield. However, 5m from the wall surrounding the entire arena is sandy terrain. The arena is marked by a 20m high wall that is built in the shape of a doughnut, the seats are layered with ten rows running along the whole perimeter of the arena. There is a tower that is supported by pillars and columns above the northers side of the stadium, this is where the representatives of other nations are seated. The participants have the own place to wait until their turn, it is at the bottom section of the wall surrounding the battlefield and has a viewing window that allows the participants to watch fighting that take place. Challenger Proximus will begin at the eastern most point, standing directly in front of the sand. Aiya will begin at the northern most point, standing directly in front of the sand. Desomonsuta and Ico will begin side by side at the eastern most point. Neoru will begin at the southern most point.

The challenger to the genin was ushered in via chains by two samurai. They pulled on the chains to urge their prisoner turned political puppet forward, forcing the enormous frame of Proximus Maximus to enter the light from the shadow of the waiting area. So large that he had to duck underneath the frame of the arena entrance slightly to enter, the raggedy dressed man wearing little more than sacks on his torso and legs and an all obscuring iron mask upon his head. Standing in the light of day, the prisoner winced and lifted his arms up to over his eyes for a few moments. During that time, the two samurai dropped his chains and moved over towards him with keys in hand. The unbound the giant of a man, releasing the chains on his ankles and wrists before calling for a servant from the waiting area to come forward. They did, dragging with them a massive kite shield that was probably the size of at least one of the contestants' body in one hand while the other carried a much smaller buckler style shield.

Taking the shields from the servant, the guards handed them to Proximus one at a time. "Remember, you're not supposed to kill or even go full out against these genin. You're just supposed to fend them off, understood?" one of the prisoner guards asked, looking up at the massive man who merely looked down at his jailer through shaded, unseen eyes without giving a response. The samurai narrowed his eyes and pointed up at the man in the iron mask. "We'll be watching you and intervene if you step out of line! If you mess this up, it's straight back to your cell where you'll never come out into the world again under any circumstances! Daimyo's orders!"

Proximus stared down blankly (seemingly) at the guard for a moment before nodding his heavy head and turning away to face the arena. He stepped forward and the guards picked up his chains and restrains that had been detached from him and exited the arena, the heavy doors closing shut behind them. Proximus lumbered forward and hefted up his shields. With a grunt, he planted the larger kite shield down on the ground in front of him while holding the buckler back. He leaned forward so as to be shielded behind his larger weapon mostly, but otherwise did nothing. He stood as a sentinel waiting to be attacked, or perhaps for a proper moment to attack himself. Frankly, it was impossible to tell...

Physical Features:

• Face/head: Pximus Maximus' face is obscured by a heavy iron mask that makes seeing any definite features impossible. Hair color, eye color, face shape - all obscured by the weighty iron curtain covering his head. The mask is locked with both a physical lock and fuuinjutsu on the back of the mask and the most defining feature of the mask is the large T shaped iron bands that jut out over the eye holes and nose, truly obscuring these features with the shadows they create. Aside from this, the mask has a simple oval shaped hole in it where his mouth should be.
• Body: Proxiimus Maximus is huge. Built like a truck, or a man who has been in prison every day of his life, he has an exemplary physique if not a bit on the thin and lanky side because of his enormous height. There are a number of scars on his dark brown skin, particularly the knuckles.
• Notable Features:Aside from the mask that Proximus is forced to wear, a set of shackles on both his wrists and ankles and the scars on his knuckles mark the most noteable features of the man.

Clothing/Accessories: Proximus Maximus is allowed to wear what amounts to little more than a potato sack that has been repurposed into clothing. Obviously old and worn, it is held together in places by thin rope and covers his torso adequettely. His pants are similarly in disrepair and made of similar material. Aside from these, the mask and the shackles on his wrists and ankles, he wears nothing.

• General: Proximus Maximus is what you might call the 'stoic' type. Years of near isolation and torment has left him mute. he does what he must for the little bits of sunlight he is allowed. He is friend to no one. He is known to no one. He is unknowable, merely a sinner who has all but been completely forgotten. In time, he is sure that even these public outings will be forgotten as well. This does not fill him with any joy or dread, for Proximus Maximus has long since lost the capacity for joy.

Proximus Maximus is an enigma. No past, no future, no information existing about him save for the simple order to keep him locked up away from the world. Rediscovered in an Earth Country prison not long after the warden of several decades passed away and was replaced, Proximus Maximus was already long gone mentally at the point of his rediscovery. It seemed that only the warden was allowed access to this particular prisoner and the only writ on him was the order from the Earth Daimyo to keep him imprisoned with extremely specific instructions on how to do so. Since being found once more he has been moved from prison to prison and used for minor economic gain in underground fights. This chunin exam marks the first time he has been allowed back in public in an unknown number of years, the Earth Daimyo commisioning his conditional release themselves in order to display the prowess of even the nations' prisoners compared to the up and coming ninja of the other nations. This is all that is known of Proximus Maximus.

To be honest, Aiya had no idea where to begin with this challenge. She understood the concept well enough, it was a common exam for Konoha shinobi; a couple of lower level shinobi pit against a much stronger opponent, with the understanding that their teamwork would be enough to stand toe to toe with a stronger foe. But at least, working with other Konoha shinobi, it was normal to expect teamwork. But here, in this international tournament, she was expected to work together with... A Kiri Ninja? At least she recognized Noeru, maybe not on a personal level but she knew a Senju when she saw one, but this Ico... and the Kumo one was just as strange as the Kiri, which was saying something. Gah... This won't do at all. How are we supposed to come up with some kind of plan of action together when we don't even know each other?

Aiya eyed over the... man that was paraded out to be their opponent, some strange human-esque figure with a large iron mask on it's face, clad with not one but two shields. Perhaps they were emphasizing the fact that he was not to injure the genin... but how tough could this guy really be? He was all skin and bones! Sure he was tall, but there wasn't an ounce of muscle to be seen on his frame! "Well... they told us to go all out." Aiya grinned for a moment as she performed a series of hand seals, reaching for her stone staff as she finished and funneling Doton chakra throughout the weapon. The tip of her staff would then take shape, forming into a sharpened spear tip, which she would then spit onto. Some might see it as a disgrace, as if she was insulting the opponent; she couldn't help that her venom was only secreted through her saliva though.

"Let's get started!" Aiya grinned as she flew towards the man, twirling her spear with glee as she closed in for a few jabs to test the waters. She'd aim for whatever she could reach, be it torso or legs or arms, just feeling out the man's defenses with some safe thrusts from a good distance. Perhaps by feeling out this Proximus, her temporary allies could get a feel for the situation too, and maybe find openings she couldn't. It was a stretch, but it was her best bet right now.

D-Rank Ninjutsu
Aiya will perform a series of hand seals before grabbing hold of either her quarterstaff or her tonfas. She will then course chakra through the weapon, allowing her to shape and mold the ends of the chosen weapons into sharpened points, effectively turning her staff into a Spear or giving her tonfas the ability to stab. The additional modification has strength equal to Aiya's [Control]. She can revert the weapon to normal by performing this jutsu a second time.

Bojutsu • Twirl
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
A staple technique of any staff style, Aiya is capable of maintaining incredible momentum with her staff by twisting and twirling it in her hands. By rotating her hands, arms and body in various ways, Aiya can spin her staff around her body in large circles. Doing this works as a functional defense capable of slapping away blows and mundane projectiles of a lesser strength than her own. This also acts as a powerful offense, delivering sweeping strikes backed by the momentum of the spins.

Bojutsu • Thrust
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
One of the simplest and most basic of strikes, Aiya will grip her staff with one hand near the center and one hand towards the back end of the staff. She will then aim her staff at an opponent before pushing forward with the back hand, sliding the staff forward in a thrusting strike. This is an incredibly safe and versatile strike, as it can be used from almost any position and in almost any situation with little risk to Aiya.

Bojutsu • Outrange
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
A staple of Bojutsu, Aiya is well trained in the effective range of her bo staff, and is capable of maintaining proper distance from her opponent to keep them within the range of her staff but outside of the range of their attacks. This training has taught her to backpedal and deliver feints and strikes to prevent rush attempts as well as to advance when necessary, all the while doing her best to stay within the sweet spot where he can strike without being struck.

Desu would wander into the arena on all fours blood dripping from her face. She would be wearing a tattered dress like usual and completely disregarded and ignored the kiri ninja or what seemed to be a kiri ninja. She wasn’t exactly a fan of them but was also told not to attack them. So she just pretended he didn’t exist, sadly she didn’t even want to be in this challenge and didn’t like the idea of having to work with others. But the village convinced her too and she couldn’t exactly say no after all the work her mommy went through to get her into there.

when she looked around she saw the others who she was supposed to work with. Though she also saw a big guy who was supposed to be her opponent, when she saw one of the supposed teammates charge at the man she figured it was time to start. So she quickly at top speed started running towards the man on all fours, rushing towards him from the opposite side.

As soon as she gets close enough she would try pounce on him and take a bite. She wondered what this sort of man tasted like.

Ico stepped out into the arena, his small frame barley a blip in the arena. He took in his surroundings as quickly as he could, and his gaze stopped at the opponent in front of him. A tower of a figure, over twice the size of Ico and had to weigh at least four times as much as the small, framed boy. He was shackled, obviously a slave? Or at least that is what Ico assumed, no weapons only shields, perhaps a ninjutsu user? Though he doubted it, someone with a frame that huge was unlikely not to utilise it. Though this was just conjecture and would not mean anything until their bout would begin.

The girl from Konoha wasted no time, yelling and leaping forward with her spear and the girl from Kumo followed suit and Ico was about to do the same.

Don’t run in.

The voice within his head whispered. It hadn’t taken control like it had during his last bout, but it was already giving him guidance.

“As you wish.” Ico couldn’t simply stand idly by though but his techniques were very limited and he only fought at close quarters, so he had to at least look as though he was doing something rather than just analysing the situation, their first encounter would at least teach them something for the next.

Ico shifted his weight and dashed to the right, running around the side of the arena keeping his distance from the towering figure in front of him simply throwing a kunai towards his chest.

After a few gentle stretches Noeru made his was onto the arena. The comrades he had been allocated for this bout had all arrived and were obviously waiting for the bout to begin. Noeru took note of each one, beginning with the white haired child. Carrying a sword much greater than him in size, standing few feet above the ground, and donning the Kirigakure headband. This was the strangest thing he had witnessed in this tournament so far. 'He must be pretty skilled...' he thought before his eyes darted to the girl from Kumogakure. Appearing different from the rest, a girl younger than himself, with physical features like he had never seen before. Pale skin, red eyes, and looked ill, 'The misfit of the group...' were Noerus thoughts about the girl. Eventually his dark eyes arrived at a face he had recognized from his days at the Academy. A little younger than himself, a Kuniochi from Konohagakure. A Glimmer of hope.

In the distance, a male clad in an iron mask towered over the rest. Equipped with shields, he peered over at them with emptiness inside. Thought of this individuals actions ran through Noerus mind as the klaxon blared. In an instant everyone began moving around. Noeru did the same.

He dashed behind the trio, keeping a safe distance from the towering man. Simultaneously he waved hand signs before stopping and crouching down. Thorns formed a ring around him and rose to his shoulder level. A form of defense for his own support. At this very moment, it appeared as his comrades all fought at close ranges. With that in mind, Noeru decided to leave that to them, and be the support they would eventually require.

The thorns did more than just surround him. Underground they penetrated through the soil in a circular formation around Noeru. Strays also made way towards their opponent, spanning a 6 meter span, with the male at the center. Noeru would not attack initially, he would wait and see what their enemy was capable of.

Mokuton [Wood Release]: Crown of Thorns
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Description: The user performs a string of handseals, and gathers chakra in the ground beneath. Upon completion the jutsu is cast and the result is a ring of hawthorns growing to the height of the users ankles. The user is then able to control the shrub, causing it to move in any desire direction at a speed equal to [Control], the strength of the jutsu is based on [Control], and governs the amount of damage that the jutsu can deal and how much strength is required to cut through the branches. The jutsu remains active for as long as the user remains in the ring, and requires more chakra to be added every [Control] / 5 posts.

The genin wisely chose to attack their foe all at once, each making their own separate attacks against the giant of a man. Three came at him head on while one hung back using jutsu against him - another wise decision. The rest decided to test the waters against him physically.

This was unwise.

The third to act was the fastest, coming up on Proximus' left hand side and simply testing the waters by throwing kunai at him. His eyes followed the movements of the ninja easily though from under the darkness of his iron mask and as the thrown blades came towards him he merely pivoted his kite shield to his left slightly, dragging the tip of it through the dirt as he did, to block the oncoming ninja tools.

Next to come was the feral one, running at him on all fours. She... attempted to bite him, of all things, displaying no apparent skill or thought of action, only sheer ferocity. Unfortunately it would take more than that to deal with the giant. As she came leaping through the air, he would cross his left arm over his body to bring the buckler up to meet her mid air, attempting to meet her head on with a strike of sufficient speed and strength to, he imagined, best her (15 Strength & Speed).

Last to face him head on was another young kunoichi brandishing a spear. Her assault came almost simultaneously as the feral girl and as such, he acted simultaneously to defend. As his left arm move over to the right side of his body, he would drag the kite shield back in front of himself to meet the thrusts and jabs of the spear, adjusting the angle and height of his kite shield accordingly to defend himself.

Thus defended, Proximus would reel his left arm back and thrust it upwards in an attempt to dislodge the feral girl off of his shield and directly up into the air. Then, with a grunt of effort, he would raise his kite shield off of the ground and thrust it upwards so that the front of his shield would collide with her and, should it land (15 Strength & Speed), it would send her back at least a few meters.

As for the remaining ninja, Proximus would return his kite shield in front of him after bashing the feral kunoichi into the air, ready to defend himself more as the need arose.

Aiya's thrusts did absolutely nothing to the mountainous iron shield that the lanky man used to defend himself with. With grunts of ferocity, she tried and tried to slip even a single strike through, but to no avail; there was no give in that defense. Her comrades had their own plans it seemed, with one of them tossing a Kunai and the other... lunging at him. Like an animal. Alright then. Well, regardless, none of their plans of attack worked, and Aiya's anger was getting the better of her. So much so that her hair was beginning to fall out, and her skin was darkening to black as chitin formed along her flesh. Six extra eyes opened up along her skull, and two large fangs sprouted from her canine teeth. Lastly, with a burst of flesh, four extra arms grew to full size, granting her six total, and one of these arms immediately reached behind her for one of her Tonfa.

She knew it wasn't going to end well for the feral one, and was quick to jump to her defense. Performing a few hand seals while she held her spear in one of her extra hands, she channeled Doton chakra into her Tonfa while she leaped towards Desumonsuta. As Proximus's shield surged forward in an attempt to shove the Kumo ninja away, Aiya would put herself - and her suddenly formed earthen shield, between Proximus's shield and Desu. Then, with a couple of remaining arms, she aimed to catch Desu safely. Of course, the blow Proximus threw out was far too strong for her tonfa turned shield, and just as quickly as it sprang to life it shattered to pieces. The remaining force would shove Aiya away, regardless of whether or not she actually caught Desu, but Aiya's chitinous armor was merely cracked by the force, not broken. She would not suffer any true damage, nor would Desu if Aiya caught her, though the shattered remains of her stone tonfa was promptly discarded.

"Swinging wildly won't get us anywhere guys. Coordinate and flank, he can't defend everywhere at once!" She'd proceed to release Desu if the woman hadn't freed herself already, before reaching behind her back for her bow and three arrows. Then, she circle the large man's flank, looking specifically to draw a line of attack that would put Proximus between Aiya and anyone else. As she circled, she'd proceed to lick the tips of each of her arrows, one at a time, ensuring that they were envenomed. Once that line of attack was acquired, the girl would let loose a series of three arrows in rapid succession, each flying for Proximus's location.

Aiya will perform a series of hand seals, funneling chakra into one of her Tonfas. She will then course this chakra through the weapon, molding and shaping the striking edge of the tonfa into a large circular shield, 1 meter in diameter. This allows her Tonfa to function much more adequately as a defensive shield, broadening its range of defense while also strengthening it to withstand blows equal to Aiya's [Control]. She can revert the weapon to normal by performing this jutsu a second time.

After years of training, the practitioner has learned how to quickly and accurately access their ranged weapon stores at all times in combat. This cuts the effective "reload" time by half, up to a maximum speed equal to the practitioner's Speed score. This also applies to returning unused projectiles to their storage containers or switching between types of projectile weaponry.

The practitioner has learned how to accurately launch projectiles while moving through the flow of combat. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to accurately launch projectiles while moving at full Speed, while jumping, rolling, sliding off the ground, or while performing other basic combat movements.

In addition, Aiya's Spider form is active for 2 posts, giving her: 360 degree vision, 10 strength armor, fangs, itchy hairs, and four extra limbs.

Desu was surprised this was the first time pouncing on someone didn’t work. She wondered how could she handle something like this. She definitely wasn’t equipped to deal with someone like this.

After desu gets hit with the shield then sent flying leaving her in a dazed state, she is unable to move and just thinks ooooo my head feels alll swimmy wimmy and a mix of good and bad, i wonder if that’s a sign, I probably shouldn’t get hit in the head anymore just in case. Dying would really suck, but just as she was about to be hit again she was saved by the pretty spider lady.

She then quickly jumped off her after the strike had happened and she was safe. Then she started circling the shield wielder like a wolf stalking it’s prey. As soon as the Pretty spider lady started shooting her arrows at her. Then from the opposite side of the arrows being fired she would try to flank him and would then extend big barbed spike on a chain and throws it at the man with all her strength. (11) like a javelin timing it so that it would happen at the same time as the arrows.

Ico sighed, his cheeks filled with air as he slowly let it stream out of his pursed lips watching Proximus defend their attacks as though it was a hot day and they were simply flies in his path. The young genin suspected that Proximus hadn’t used the limit of his strength and didn’t expect him to, these challenges could kill the genin teams in a matter of seconds if not instantly.

The freshly promoted Genin knew his attacks would do next to nothing against the titan of a man, but he had to at least try he wouldn’t achieve promotion by standing on the edge throwing kunai. He nodded in response to the young Konoha girl who said he couldn’t defend everything, she was technically wrong, a man like this could defend it all and with easy but it didn’t matter they had to fight.

He hoisted his large sword over one shoulder and withdrew another kunai in his left hand, he took off running towards Proximus as quickly as he could throwing the kunai squarely towards his head, hoping to force him to bring up his shield and defend it.

He lowered his blade, sprinting just behind the kunai and quickly jumped to the left aiming at what he hoped was a gap between the defence thrusting towards Proximus’ hip, just as the weapon would make contact with either flesh, shield or even avoided all together he’d quickly rotate the blade violently slashing towards the shoulder.

Ico had attempted to make three attacking points all in one go, in hopes of at least making some kind of opening so either he or his new found teammates could land a strike.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Strength, 8 Speed.
A simple yet devastating technique, the practitioner executes a powerful thrust towards the opponent. At the end of the thrust, or just as the blade is making contact with the opponent if it hits, the practitioner violently rotates the blade in any single direction and finishes the technique with a slash in the direction the sword was twisted. This additional rotation and slash at the end can further damage opponents or catch an opponent that has evaded the original thrust by strafing to either side, ducking, or jumping.

Each of the genin was busy carrying out their actions. Noeru was still crouching, surrounded by the thorns that created a barrier around him. Underground the thorns were still spreading, creating a vast area that was ready to strike at any moment. His eyes were fixed on the masked man. It was obvious that his skill far outmatched theirs. With great ease he defended all the attacks that came his way, and attacked the girl who tried to directly attack him. This pinned his attention the most, he used his shield defensively, and offensively. Noeru realized that with two shields, he was able to easily defend himself from two sides at once. This was not going to work in their favor. With four against one, they would have to fight him so that he could only defend on attack at a time, or none at all. Now Noeru had his goal.

With the kite shield being his prime form of defense, he would most likely pay as much attention to that as possible. But, the buckler, as not actually being used. And at this moment, it seemed that it was actually hanging on his hand behind him. With the thorns now covering an area behind him, and with the attacks heading his way, Noeru decided that it was the perfect time to use the element of surprise and snatch the shield off his arm.

He concentrated on the thorns that were laying in the ground behind the man. Gently they would make their way up to few inches below the surface and once again lay in wait. Timing was crucial at this time. With the attacks heading his way, he could move at any time, and Noeru would wait until right before he did before the thorns shot out of the ground and would wrap themselves around the buckler shield and pull away from him, trying to rip the shield off his arm. Simultaneously, the thorns that were laying in front of him would also shoot out of the ground, and wrap themselves around around the kite shield, hopefully immobilize the shield and buying the rest enough time for them to deliver their attacks accurately.

If the rear thorns were successful, the shield would then get launched in an arc towards Noeru, where it would land stabbing itself into the ground and become enveloped by further thorns. This would not be the end of Noerus onslaught. The thorns that were directly under the man, would begin wrap themselves around the mans feet and make their way up his body, as they tried to stab into him as they progressed.

The genins' second wave of assaults was all around much better, that was plain for anyone watching to see. Be they seasoned shinobi or just untrained spectators, civilians really, watching the exams unfold, it was quite evident that the quadrant of ninja from differing villages, evidently impromptu lead by the Konoha spider, were acting much more aggressive and much more coordinated than they had the first time around.

For Proximus' part, he could only think about how strange shinobi were.

Specifically the thought came to him as he watched the spider girl transform right before his eyes! A sickening sight that left him somewhat shocked as she leapt in front of his shield with a shield of her own, looking absolutely nothing like herself and defending her fellow genin from his follow up attack. He watched her intently and it actually took a moment to put two and two together that this was the spear wielding girl from literal seconds ago. He didn't have the faintest sort of understanding on how she had managed to transform herself so, but her visage was frightening to him! Proximus, as it turned out, did not like spiders all that much.

This fact, ultimately, worked against the Konoha genin. As she spoke out to try and coordinate her team mates, he singled her out as his primary target for the time being. As she ran to try and get around behind him he turned his head to follow her, beginning to move his body when he suddenly felt resistance against his shields. Turning his head he saw the thorny vines gripping at his weapons and tugged on them to try and rip them free - to no initial avail! These thorns were made out of tough stuff and he wasn't going to be breaking free of them with a simple flex of his muscles! Some effort was needed!

While he was figuring this out, the other two close range fighters were moving into position to attack him as well. "Rrgh!" Proximus grunted as he gripped his shields hard and, using more of his vestiges of Strength (25), he would rip free of the thorns - including those that began to wrap around his feet - before turning his kite shield towards his arachnid target and blitzing towards her with tremendous (30) speed! His kite shield up in front of him to defend against any oncoming arrows, Proximus would come to a complete and sudden stop roughly half a meter away from the genin before, with another "Mrah!" of effort, he thrust his kite shield forward with strength enough intended to push the spider girl back into the arena wall behind her (15 Strength).

All of this blitzing and bashing with his shield left him open to the attacks of the other genin, though! The thrown kunai would hit him squarely in the head - a direct hit! - making his iron mask ring dully like a stuffed bell. "Mmph?" he would grunt, turning his head around to look back at the other two genin. So distracted was he, though, that he didn't have the time to react to the thrown barbed-headed chain that sank into his thigh - an actual hit! And yet, Proximus did not seem to react to it beyond stiffening up and looking down at his thigh. Part of the barbed spearhead was still sticking out of his flesh, and this was how he knew that it was barbed.

He had little time to consider this fact, though, as the last of the genins' attacks was upon him! The kunai chucking shinobi came rushing in on him with a large sword, intending to cut him in two separate places on his left side! Proximus had enough time to bring his buckler to bear though, parrying the swings of the blade with enough strength to match the genins' two slashes before raising his kite shield and, with another "Rrgh!" of effort, attempted to bash into the sword wielding genin, again with enough strength behind his blow to potentially send the young shinobi flying back a few meters (15 Strength).

Blows had been landed, but just as it was obvious that their team work and coordination had drastically increased since their first assault, so too was it plain to see that Proximus was far from finished even with the wound he had sustained in his leg thus far!

Aiya's arrows found nothing but metal, much to her dismay... even worse, it seemed that her form earned some sort of reaction from this lanky giant, as his attention was almost completely on her now, so much so that he rushed towards her in the blink of an eye. She tried to brandish her stone spear in defense, but whatever this man was, he was far too fast for her to react to. Just who IS this guy!? was the only thought running through her head as his gargantuan kite shield shoved her back a good five meters, her back hitting the wall of the arena with a resounding 'THUD" that could be heard audibly. Strange... there wasn't that much damage to his shove, he really seemed to just want him away from her. Well, he seemed entirely focused on what she wanted to do, maybe the guy just hated spiders? How interesting... The cracks in her armor were giving way, but she'd only have a few more moments in her form anyway. She'd have to make use of the man's fears as long as she could.

If she was his focus, she'd use that to the benefit of her allies and draw his defenses elsewhere.

"Aim Low!" Aiya called out, removing another arrow from her quiver and licking it before performing a series of hand seals and filling the arrowhead with Doton chakra. She'd then spin her staff around a little as she rushed back in, a smirk crossing her face as she watched her allies land a couple of solid blows. So he's human after all, he makes mistakes and gets hit just like the rest of us. All the more reason for her to follow through with her plan, as she firmly planted part of her staff into the ground and vaulted herself high into the air, putting the sun behind her as she approached Proximus from above with surprising speed. As she dropped on to him from above, a foot extended, her goal wasn't to kick him per se... it was to jump. She wanted his attention, she expected him to raise a shield or something to defend himself from above, from the spider dropping on his head.

If he did indeed raise a shield, her goal was to leap off of it and stay airborne a bit longer, essentially "bouncing" off of him and continuing away from him. But as she bounced away, in the midst of a flip, she'd take aim while upside down and aim the doton charged arrow for a position in air about 5 meters above Proximus's head. She didn't want to launch the arrow down low where her teammates would be at risk of being caught in the shrapnel, that wouldn't benefit anyone. So instead, when it was high above the giant's head, she'd perform a single handseal and cause the arrowhead to explode violently, raining stone shrapnel down on his head. Stone shrapnel that was coated in her venom. Upon landing with a soft 'thud', the girl's skin would begin to lighten again, and her armor began to recede. Her extra eyes closed and vanished, and her hair slowly came back to her. A few more moments and her arms would recede, leaving her a normal girl once again.

Aiya will perform a series of hand seals, funneling chakra within a projectile made of stone, such as her arrows or a weapon created by Doton. Then, after firing the projectile, a single hand seal after the fact will cause the projectile to explode. This will shower the area within 5 meters of the projectile with rocky shrapnel, propelled with strength equal to Aiya's [Control].

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A technique meant for closing the gap, Aier will charge forward before jamming one end of his staff into the ground. She will then push off of her staff to gain some forward momentum, launching herself a couple of meters into the air before delivering a flying kick aimed at her opponent. This strike is made with +3 speed due to the extra momentum gathered by the vault, but loses -3 Strength. It can also be used to push herself up and over obstacles or enemy attacks.

The practitioner has learned how to accurately launch projectiles while moving through the flow of combat. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to accurately launch projectiles while moving at full Speed, while jumping, rolling, sliding off the ground, or while performing other basic combat movements.

As a note, my form lasts until the beginning of my next post, it's just in the process of fading by the end of this post. Any armor she has left (Which isn't much to be fair, she's taken a few hits lmao) Will remain until the start of my next post.

Desu would lick her lips and watch as the heavily barbed spike sunk its way into his thigh. She would also watch as he was distracted by the spider lady and so she would starts silently trying to stealthily run towards her opponent. Making sure to try and stay in his blind spot while making the chain connecting the spike to her gauntlet to retract. Until their was only 10m of slack left she would then like a wolf stalking it’s prey try to stealthily jump onto proximus’s back. Finally afterwards she would try to immediately after take a bite out of his right shoulder.

She was hoping that if he tried to knock her into the air again she could at least use the chain to stabilize herself and pull herself back towards him.

Ico’s kunai hit it’s mark, he was happy he could at least make some contact but he knew in reality it would cause little to no damage to such a mammoth of a man. They were slowly but surely breaking down the man, attacking him all at once seemed their only option.

The Genin felt the force of the man’s shield, it had to be equal to Ico’s own strength though it was of course Ico had to imagine, just a fraction of his true strength but it may give him a gauge of what the man was limiting himself to. It didn’t knock Ico too far backwards as he placed his blade to meet the shield and jumped back with the momentum of the knockback and landed only a few meters back landing on the ground with a soft thud.

The young woman shouted ‘Aim low’ of course a good tactic, try and get under the shields and sweep him however it was now posted quite clearly where they intended to attack. So Ico decided against it, hopefully the others would all go low and he’d strike high and there would be an opening for him only time would tell.

Lifting up his blade high above his head, and ran forward again there was little else in technique the young man could do all he knew was swinging his large sword and little else. He yelled loudly, making it clear he was going to strike for the man’s head, but, just before he made contact he let go of the blade with his left hand using on the right, it was too large and vast that he would lose most of the momentum and would barely be able to swing it. He however had a plan, withdrawing a kunai and flinging it mid swing at the man’s leg trying to hit his thigh and slow him down, stealing the idea from Kozan in his earlier chunnin battle. The blade quickly followed though it would be much limper and come down with very little force.

With his failed attempts failed, Noeru took a moment to re-analyse the situation. Watching exactly what happened afterwards. The kunai made its mark, however ineffective. What surprised him was the shear speed at which the man moved. Easily out pacing him and his comrades, it was now obvious that the only way they would cause any sort of damage was through team work. And with the speed and strength of his jutsu, he was able to offer the team offensive and defensive moves. And now it was time to do exactly that. He would switch from trying to strip the titan off his tools of war and begin an all out onslaught. It was time to counter the man, and allow the closer ranged fighters to come up with some sort of strategy that would make a meaningful mark.

Noeru concentrated on his jutsu, fueling it with chakra. His jutsu was not perfect, and it required him to fill with chakra occasionally to keep it going. He hoped that with his skill with ninjutsu increasing, he would not have to worry about this in the future, only time would tell though. With the jutsu fueled, it was time to make his move, the Konoha kunoichi gave the team an order which fitted with what Noeru was planning on doing. So, the vines of thorns pierced the surface of the ground from below and shot up at the man. They were all aiming for his legs and lower torso like his stomach and his belly. Two came from each of the four directions, each targeting a part of the body. Two would go for the right leg, two for the left leg, and the four would be aimed at the mans mans belly, in an attempt the pierce straight through him. With this mokuton growing in strength, it was now stronger than at his previous attempt to attack the man. This was not everything that he was planning. Knowing how easily the man broke out of the vines the previous time, Noeru had to make sure that he remained occupied. He would continue to send his vines at them man continuously in order to keep the man focus on them rather than on what the rest of the team were doing. The vines would wrap themselves around his legs and try to move up while hopefully ripping through his skin. If those were smashed, or destroyed, more would emerge from the ground and do the same thing again.

Splitting the mans attention should hopefully do the trick and create an opening for his team mates to cause more damage. As the kunoichi from Kumo managed to land a piercing hit on the thigh. Now everyone was once again carrying out their moves, and Noeru was paying close attention to what was happening. With his vines attacking, he could possibly offer support to the rest if they needed it.

Description: The user performs a string of handseals, and gathers chakra in the ground beneath. Upon completion the jutsu is cast and the result is a ring of hawthorns growing to the height of the users ankles. The user is then able to control the shrub, causing it to move in any desire direction at a speed equal to [Control], the strength of the jutsu is based on [Control], and governs the amount of damage that the jutsu can deal and how much strength is required to cut through the branches. The jutsu remains active for as long as the user remains in the ring, and requires more chakra to be added every [Control] / 5 posts.

Such tremendous teamwork from a rag-tag group of ninja who did not know each other! They were, each of them, a credit to their village in one way or another - be it team work, coordination, aggression or analyzing a situation in order to place a precise attack - and showed much promise for the future! They all seemed to understand that their opponent was out of their league, despite having only shown part of his prowess, and so were working together to try and topple the proverbial (literal) giant before them!

Despite this, they were all of them at a distinct and major disadvantage in this scenario; not knowing the capabilities or history of their opponent. Such was the nature and purpose of the chunin exams to provide a safe environment to explore this reality but they had now forced Proximus' hand. This was not the first time that he had been in a gladiatorial situation where he had faced off more than one opponent who utilized teamwork against him. He had experience in the matter and he was about to show it!

The first to come would be the spider. Contrary to what she thought, his attention was not currently on her but instead the other close range combatants who he had been struck by previously. As such, when she vaulted to get over his head, he did not actually react and, thus, she was able to leap higher up by actually stepping on his head! This did, however, grab his attention and as he turned his head upwards to look at her he would find her shadow in the middle of the sun and his squinted eyes. To defend against her assault, he would simply raise his kite shield up over his head and use it for its' intended purpose - the tower shield-like weapon covering his entire body below when held at such an angle! As such, her exploding arrow and its' fallout met only the metal he wielded and the ground around him, nothing more. He hadn't done this because he could see her or that he had predicted what she would do, rather he had enough experience in battle to realize that an attack was likely coming from above and so automatically moved to defend himself accordingly.

Beneath the shade of his shield, he was able to refocus on the animal-like girl who had pierced his thigh. Despite her best efforts to be sneaky in her movements, she neglected a very important aspect - the barb in his thigh. Despite not reacting to such levels of pain, for he was accustomed to such matters, the wound was still tinder and he felt everything she did through it from the withdrawing of the chain to how she pulled on it inadvertently as she tried to circle around and come at him from behind. Her attack came at nearly the same time as the arrow and as such, while he defended against the projectile, Proximus would twist his body and bring his right leg up to slam into the airborne body of the girl (15 Speed and Strength). Should the strike land she would be sent barreling towards the ground as he finished spinning his body and planted his footing once more. She would likely bounce at least once before coming to a rest or recovering some meters - a maximum of 10 thanks to her chain - away.

The chain itself was bothersome at this point and as Proximus lowered his kite shield from over his body (once the shrapnel stopped raining down of course) he would raise his left arm into the air. "Groh!" he would cry as he brought the edge of his buckler slicing down through the air beside his thigh with enough strength to snap the chain and sever it from the barb in his leg! A feat of strength to match his earlier burst of speed! All the while, however, he was not paying much attention to the sword wielding ninja who charged heroically towards him and brought the edge of his large blade down to meet his head while simultaneously throwing a kunai towards his thigh! As before, the kunai would find its' mark, embedding itself into his leg and making Proximus wince with pain. The sword, too, wound find its' mark and meet the iron mask that covered his head quite squarely, though the force of the blow was roughly halved thanks to the decision to throw the kunai rather than commit to the swing of the sword. On paper, this might have seemed like a solid plan of attack given all else that was happening. However.

Ico had just displayed his own lack of experience in combat.

The edge of the sword sank a few millimeters into the iron mask before it was stopped in place and Proximus' head jolted slightly from the impact - that was all. For some reason, these genin kept aiming for his head without realizing that he was wearing what amounted to a plate helmet! As such, Proximus loomed over Ico and stared the boy down, straightening up to his full height with the sword still embedded in his mask and momentarily blotting out the sun as his shadow fell over the genin. Proximus' heavy breath could be heard faintly but his eyes remained hidden in shadow as, in retaliation, he smashed his buckler shield upwards to dislodge the sword from his mask while practically simultaneously lifting his leg up - the same leg with both the barbed projectile and the kunai in his thigh - and attempting to plant his foot squarely in the stomach of Ico who had charged straight for him! Should the kick connect, it would have enough strength to send Ico flying backwards towards an arena wall nearly 20 meters away! (20 Strength & Speed).

All the while that this was happening, the genin at a distance was making his play. It took time to gather the chakra necessary to control the thorny vines that he had ripped through before - time enough for him to notice the ground once again shifting beneath his feet. Rather than be caught by the oncoming vines, though, Proximus would dash forward once more (30 Speed) before coming to a stop and paying full attention to the first time to Noeru who had thus far stayed back in this fight. The time had come to test his mettle against an opponent coming directly at him and so as the giant of a man came to a stop directly in front of the genin, he would lift his right leg and attempt to punt the genin backwards in much the same manner as he had just sent Ico flying towards an arena wall, the only difference being that, should his leg find its' mark, Noeru would instead sail backwards in an arch through the air towards his destination. (20 Strength & Speed). "Mragh!" Proximus would yell as he threw his kick!

Should all this come to pass, Proximus would take a moment to reach down and pull the kunai out of his leg with a dull grunt before dropping it on the ground. He knew that his wounds sustained would lower his speed slightly, but not nearly enough to matter when it came to closing the gap between him and the genin. This time, Proximus had gone on the offensive. How effective had it been?

Aiya's form had fully receded by the time Proximus's counter assault was finished, her bow placed back behind her as she couldn't manage it and her staff without the extra arms. And without her armor protecting her and her eyes allowing her to see everything, she wasn't going to be able to be nearly as reckless as she had been before. But that didn't mean she wasn't still useful, and it certainly didn't mean she couldn't still attack the man... if he *was* a man. Aiya stood about 10 meters away from the man, wracking her brain on her next manner of attack while she passed her spear tip along her tongue, just to ensure it remained envenomed. All three of the other genin were under attack from this man, but perhaps that was her chance to attack. Slipping her left hand into her shuriken holster while her right hand held on to her staff, Aiya removed five shuriken, passed them all along her tongue quickly, and tossed them all at once towards Proximus. Given the shear number of projectiles, her throw wasn't as fast as it normally would be, the Shuriken moving much slower than normal - but that's exactly what she was counting on.

She knew she was faster than her own projectiles.

Aiya took off at maximum speed as she tossed the Shuriken at Proximus, passing her own projectiles as she got within 5 meters of the man and dug the blunt end of her spear into the ground, thrusting herself even faster as she aimed to pass over Proximus again. A simple, 3 meter high jump should have been enough to clear over his head. Once she landed on the other side, she'd start stabbing with her spear, thrusting the tip towards any openings she might be able to find in an attempt to draw blood at least once. However, she was still afraid of a counter, and would be sure to backpedal and keep her distance in an attempt to remain relatively safe. And the shuriken from before? They'd end up getting close enough to hit just about the time she landed and started stabbing. If all went according to plan, her simultaneous strike from both sides was bound to catch him with at least one strike...

Come on guys... We don't need to kill him, we just need to show teamwork and strength! We've got this!

One of the simplest and most basic of strikes, Aiya will grip her staff with one hand near the center and one hand towards the back end of the staff. She will then aim her staff at an opponent before pushing forward with the back hand, sliding the staff forward in a thrusting strike. This is an incredibly safe and versatile strike, as it can be used from almost any position and in almost any situation with little risk to Aiya.

D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
A staple of Bojutsu, Aiya is well trained in the effective range of her bo staff, and is capable of maintaining proper distance from her opponent to keep them within the range of her staff but outside of the range of their attacks. This training has taught her to backpedal and deliver feints and strikes to prevent rush attempts as well as to advance when necessary, all the while doing her best to stay within the sweet spot where he can strike without being struck.

Her Shuriken are moving at 6 strength and speed, and with her burst of speed Aiya moved at 13 speed to cross over to Proximus's other side, putting him between her and her shuriken.

Desu would be unaware that he was feeling the pain so was surprised when he noticed her and hit her causing her to fly back 10 meters then be yanked to a stop by the chain. She knew it was a possibility but was wondering how he was aware of her that easily. Her injuries from the previous attack had already healed so she then quickly shook off the most recent attack and tried to charge in right as the shrapnel was ending as she was charging in she saw as he used his shield to break her Toy. Which was pretty annoying since she wasn’t sure if she could get it fixed.

By the time she got close Aiya was jumping over him so she moved a few meters to the side so that she was on the side with the arm that wasn’t being used for the tower shield. so that he would have to choose again between who he defended against Aiya shuriken and spear attacks or Desu bite attempt.

Hoping this time to get him moving at max speed she would charge in but this time instead of jumping at him. She would keep running until direct biting while watching his leg and shield arm. If the leg tried to kick her again she would grab it as take a bite out as it was hitting her. If she got close enough she would grab onto his arm or leg what ever was easier and start biting and eating chunks out of it eating at ravenous piranha speeds.

A grin fell across Ico’s face as the Kunai hit it’s mark for the second time Thanks Kozan thought the young Genin, as Ico had fallen for the same attack in his previous bout, he of course didn’t expect the blade to do any damage at all, the man was donning a helmet but it was meant as a distraction he just hoped that by taking down the legs they would be able to slow the man down.

The towering figure stared at Ico, the young Genin would of normally shown fear but something or someone animalistic seemed to be looming inside him.

As the shield came up and dislodged his blade, he reacted almost instantly and moved with a killer instinct, expecting the shield to come up with a strike, he leaped backwards and his hand moved towards his pouch withdrawing a set of makibishi and throwing them on the floor beneath Proximus as his foot came up and kicked him with incredible force. He had hoped that as Proximus stepped back in place the small pieces of metal would lodge in his foot and slow him down even more and hopefully give the spider girl a chance to strike him.

Ico fell back through the air and landed on the ground with a loud thud, he gasped for air as his sword dropped on the floor with a clang.

GET UP ICO! screamed a voice in his head.

Ico snarled in response, sounding almost animalistic as he dragged himself up from the ground, clutching towards his blade, lifting it by the handle and wrapping his fingertips around the hilt grasping it firmly with both hands.

Air blew from his nostrils and his teeth clenched, they all had to work together and attack at once that was obvious and he was more determined than ever. But he had received a harsh blow and he wasn’t sure how much he had left, swinging around this heavy blade was tiring to boot.

Aiya was right from the get go, go low if they could cripple his legs it would make it more difficult for the giant man to build any offence. Within an instance Ico sprinted forward again at a rapid rate, closing the distance as quickly as he could, once he got close enough he thrusted his blade towards the man, hoping that the shield would come up in defence, even if it didn’t he’d quickly rotate the blade and leap to the side trying to get behind the defence and slash the back of Proximus’ leg.

He knew getting this close was dangerous and getting trapped behind the shield would be even more punishing, but if he could just slow the man down even a little he’d see that as a victory for himself.

Prerequisite(s): 8 Strength, 8 Speed.
A simple yet devastating technique, the practitioner executes a powerful thrust towards the opponent. At the end of the thrust, or just as the blade is making contact with the opponent if it hits, the practitioner violently rotates the blade in any single direction and finishes the technique with a slash in the direction the sword was twisted. This additional rotation and slash at the end can further damage opponents or catch an opponent that has evaded the original thrust by strafing to either side, ducking, or jumping.

Noeru watched the show before him until suddenly, the man began charging for him. The thorn barrier around him covered most of his body, and thanks to the natural ability of mokuton, it grew in strength. However, when the man began moving towards him, his body moved on its own. His hands clasped together he began waving signs for another jutsu. The man came to a stop right in front of him and looked down at Noeru, giving him enough time to finish waving his signs, before he brought his leg up and swung it towards the boy.

The mans foot connected with the little boy, and momentarily it appeared as Noeru had been split in half by the force of the kick. But, before the kick connected he managed to substitute his body with a wooden log that was laying ten meters away in among the western woodland. This is where he would take the opportunity to reevaluate his position. It was obvious that his current approach was not of any benefit to the team.

'I have to think of something... I will be no use if I face him directly... I'll just get knocked out... Unless, I have something that will protect me.'

After a brief moment of deep deliberation, he came up with a plan. With his energy stores near enough untouched, Noeru once again began waving hand signs. A jutsu he had yet to use in a fight. He concentrated his chakra on his body, and slowly wood began to emerge around him, forming into armor.

His legs would be covered by wood, vines would connect the lower leg to the upper leg and the ankles to allow for flexibility. Above, his torso would follow the same principle; the torso was split into three different sections, all connected with the same vines. It had flaps attached to it, protecting his hips, groin and bottom. The arms were structured in the same way as the legs, giving him room to be able to use his hands, and therefor jutsu. On his head a helmet formed, in the style of samurai. And it also contained a flap similar to the one on his torso, this protected his neck. This armor resembled that of a samurai.

Once his armor was complete, he took a moment to catch his breath. This jutsu used more chakra than the previous jutsu and so he now had a trickle of sweat running down the back of his neck. But now he was ready to return to the fight.

This substitution allows the object to take the force of the attack that was meant for the user, additionally allowing the user to create distance between him/her and the opponent. The object used in this jutsu may not be objects that are imbued with chakra or controlled by it, and they may also only be single, solid objects within a 10 meter radius of the user. This technique may only be used a total of one time in a single thread, give or take how many times Shunshin no Jutsu has already been used.

Bit by bit the genin were managing to damage Proximus. The makabishi that Ico had managed to throw out before being kicked to the other side of the arena succeeded in planting a few of the spikes in the sole of the giants' left foot - not that he seemed to notice all that much as he still rushed Noreu down and kicked at what would end up being a log. As the other three came rushing back into the fight he indeed had enough time to remove the kunai from his leg and actually notice the spikes in his foot as he winced and lifted his heel up. His left leg was really taking a lot of damage!

That wasn't to say that he couldn't dish out damage as well. As Aiya came vaulting over him for the second or third time that fight, Proximus reacted with a grunt and simply reached his long left arm up over his head, grabbing a hold of the spider girls' leg by temporarily letting go of the grip of his shield (not that he needed to hold on to it anyways since both the buckler and the kite shield were strapped to his arms anyways!). If he caught her, he would reverse her trajectory and bring her slamming into the ground in front of him in a brutally efficient display, only to lift her up and slam her back down a second time. (15 Strength & Speed). Of course, while he was doing this, the shuriken that she had prepared would find their mark and sink into his flesh on his left side. Each was only a shallow wound and he reacted to them about as much as he had all of the other wounds he had sustained thus far, but the presence of poison was as of yet unknown to him. How would it affect the man going forward?

If there was one thing that should have been made abundantly clear at this point, though, is that their opponent seemed to have absolutely no formal training of any sort and was using his great size and experience against them more than anything.

As for the charging Desu, Proximus would deal with her relentless assault by, should the previous have come to pass, using Aiya as a blunt force object and slamming her into the charging animal-like girl twice. His hope was that, by using her as an improvised weapon, he could take care of two of the competitors at once and thus only have to focus on half the team at least for a minute or so. Either way, Desu's straight forward assaults were proving incredibly easy for even the untrained Proximus to read and react to!

Ico, too, seemed to have a one track mind and game plan, but where he differed was having a semblance of tactics to his assault, for he was doing as had been advised and continued to go for his legs rather than anywhere else! The urge to aim for the armored head seemed to have subsided! All the same, with Aiya and Desu taken care of and Noreu off to the side creating a suit of armor for himself, Proximus was free to deal with Ico's oncoming assault. He parried the first thrust of the blade, pivoted on the spot and parried the second swing before it had a chance to get at his legs, then punished Ico by driving his right knee into his gut once more (20 Strength & Speed), all before turning once more to Noreu and moving to attack him!

How he attacked, however, was radically different from any other form of assault he'd unleashed before! Rather than charge towards him linearly, the behemoth of a man leapt through the air on one leg, leaving the other three competitors behind, in an arch with the intent on crashing down on the genin like a meteor, his kite shield held in front of him like the blunt end of a battering ram! (30 Strength & Speed) The resulting impact, whether or not he hit Noreu or not, would rupture the arena floor, causing cracks to appear in the earth and chunks of material the size of the genin to stand around Proximus in a 3 meter circumference easily. If Noreu were in the center of the crater, it was quite possible that he was taken out of the fight once and for all!

The genin were truly showing some coordination and team work, all doing their best to debilitate their opponent with (mostly) coordinated strikes! But Proximus continued to show displays of power that were simply beyond the young shinobi! How fortunate for them that this juggernaut of a man could never put his full capabilities to bear as they eventually would be able to!

Aiya let out a small 'eek' sound as the man grabbed her by the leg, stopping her vault over him from happening. That said, her shuriken seemed to hit home at least, a couple of them grazing him and at least one sticking into him. Good, the poison would set in soon, but besides that, she couldn't let herself stay within this mountainous man's grip. She dropped her staff to the ground at Proximus's feet and flew through the fastest few seals she could, and just as Proximus was about to slam her into Desu, a white poof of smoke would engulf Aiya. That would save her from the pain of being slammed into the Kumo genin, as she appeared some 10 meters away using the scraps of the log left behind by Noeru's earlier use of Kawarimi. On the other hand, a large chunk of log would be in Proximus's hand now, being swung at Desu no doubt.

Aiya would wait and watch while the large, masked man continued with his attack, leaping towards Noeru after striking towards Ico. Once he leapt out of the way, she'd race back in to grab the staff she had left behind while performing another set of hand seals. Once she grabbed hold of her weapon, she would focus this chakra into it, changing her spear head into a bladed Naginata head. "Enough of this..." Aiya muttered under her breath, as she began to twirl her staff around with incredible fervor, building the speed of her staff up to an audible level as it "wooshed" through the air. "I'll break those damn shields myself." Aiya proceeded to spit up into the air as her Naginata twirled around, and the blade of her weapon would pass through the saliva, thus poisoning it's edge.

And then she'd race in with a battle cry, closing the distance between them as quickly as she could before delivering her first strike; a horizontal slash aimed for the man's side. But ultimately, she wanted to draw his guard out; after the first strike, she'd pivot in such a way that she'd have a decent shot at hitting the man's wrist with an uppercut slash, aimed vertically up at the man's wrist in an attempt to slash at the straps holding his shield in place. Another strike would quickly follow, against the shield itself, in an attempt to slap the shield either out of his hands or at least away from her assault. That Buckler was a problem too, and so her next slash would be aimed at the man's other arm; if not the straps, then the forearm or elbow, whatever she could hit that might make the man's defenses just a little less absolute. Finally, with a final cry, she'd leap up high and attempt a final smack with the blunt end of her Naginata against the man's heavy metal mask; "Ringing the Bell" was an apt phrase, jostling his senses to make it harder to see the rest of what was coming.

All the while, Her twirling and movements were defensive. She rapidly spinning weapon would make it hard to approach her, not to mention her adequate knowledge of her maximum range would keep her far enough away that an approach would be even more difficult. If nothing else, this overbearing assault would surely keep the man's attention for a while.

Aiya will perform a series of hand seals before grabbing hold of either her quarterstaff or her tonfas. She will then course chakra through the weapon, allowing her to shape and mold the ends of the chosen weapons into sharpened points, effectively turning her staff into a Naginata or giving her tonfas bladed edges to cut with. The additional modification has strength equal to Aiya's [Control]. She can revert the weapon to normal by performing this jutsu a second time.

A staple technique of any staff style, Aiya is capable of maintaining incredible momentum with her staff by twisting and twirling it in her hands. By rotating her hands, arms and body in various ways, Aiya can spin her staff around her body in large circles. Doing this works as a functional defense capable of slapping away blows and mundane projectiles of a lesser strength than her own. This also acts as a powerful offense, delivering sweeping strikes backed by the momentum of the spins.

Aiya will twirl her staff with increasing speed as she approaches her opponent, leading into a strong sweeping strike aimed at the opponent's side. This strike will flow into another and then another as Aiya proceeds with a flurry of crushing blows, following her opponent around the battlefield as he strikes at her opponent multiple times. She can produce a number of strikes equal to half her speed during this assault, which takes an entire post. Any opponent who blocks more than one strike of this flurry will suffer a -3 penalty to their Strength for 3 posts, as the force of the strikes jars their body.

This technique is a kind of mental preparation for the constant movement and spinning involved in the Aiya's Bojutsu style. This enables Aiya to gather snippets of vision, sounds and tactile sensory information in order to be properly aware of the battlefield around her whether standing still or in rapid circular motion. Aiya is effectively aware of her surroundings within 25m of her person, able to recognize when attacks are coming and the body positions of opponents.

A staple of Bojutsu, Aiya is well trained in the effective range of her bo staff, and is capable of maintaining proper distance from her opponent to keep them within the range of her staff but outside of the range of their attacks. This training has taught her to backpedal and deliver feints and strikes to prevent rush attempts as well as to advance when necessary, all the while doing her best to stay within the sweet spot where he can strike without being struck.

Desu didn’t even want to sign up for this match but the people in charge insisted she join in with the other genin. To make matters worse Desu didn’t know how else to fight and had less time training then the average genin maybe even much less after graduating the academy so she didn’t really know what else to do she didn’t want to loose another of her toy’s so decided to just keep perserving which was her specialty.

Best she could hope for was that her constant attacks would help bring the opponent down. So when the opponent started flinging her teammates at her she didn’t know exactly what to do. Thankfully she didn’t jump like previously so had greater control over her movements so she got ready to block when suddenly her teammate was replaced by a log making things a lot eaiser.

So as soon as the log came down she went to meet it head on pivoting slighting at the last second to avoid it hitting her head and coming down on her shoulder instead. Meanwhile at the same time it hit her she would grab the hand and try to at least rip out the tendons in the wrist with her teeth. If possible she would keep eating as fast as she could until she reached bone.

Ico’s blade was parried away with ease, though that was no issue the first attack was simply meant to make an opening for a second strike, Ico smiled with glee he was about to thrust his blade deep into Proximus’ leg and slow him down enough for Aiya to attack, it was all about to be over and- Ico gasped, his eyes widened and the smile on his face dropped away, a rush of pain fell over him as he dropped on to the floor with a loud clumsy thud.

Luckily for the small frame Genin, Proximus’ attention was soon taken up by the other genin on the field and he’d be able to simply lay down. Not as though he had much choice, his face buried in the ground below his breath raspy and harsh clinging to what air he could.

Dragging himself up, from the ground using his blade as a crutch he winced in pain knowing that if he received another blow like that he would likely be out of the fight, he needed to catch his breath for now he would keep his distance and offer support from afar.

Sheathing his blade back over his shoulder, he withdrew a kunai and threw it at the back of Proximus’ leg trying to find an opening as he pushed himself hard off the ground and circled around, withdrawing a shuriken and once again aiming it at the leg. This in all honesty was nothing but to gain himself a little time and be nothing but a distraction to the large man ahead of him.

Pressing his body against the trunk of the tree, Noeru took a deep breath as the armor wrapped itself around every part of his body. 'That was close...' The youth thought as his ears perked up within his helmet and guided his vision towards the canopy above him. 'Could it be...? He muttered under his nose as he saw the trees above him move wildly as the sun from above was becoming more and more prominent. Realizing what was going on, Noeru used his legs to jumped to the side in a sidestep right before the colossal man finally made his way through the trees and down to the ground.

The devastating impact created a crater around him, luckily Noeru was out of reach and managed to get away safe and sound. While he was moving, and performing a sequence of hand signs, he shouted with intention of informing his comrades about the current situation, under the assumption that they were unaware, since the two were surrounded by trees. 'He's surrounded by three earth pillars, get ready to fire for when he escapes!' The boy shouted and finally finished his sequence of hand signs. He was going to take advantage of the man current surroundings. Roots would shoot up from the ground and wrap themselves around their victim, draining chakra upon contact. However, the youth anticipated that he would be able to break from their bindings with ease and prepared himself with yet another sequence of signs.

Description: The user performs a string of handseals and upon completion will concentrate on their target. Then, roots will erupt from the ground, wrapping around the target to the point that they cannot move. The victim will require [Strength] higher than the users [Control] + Mokuton passive to break free of the bindings. This technique is named this way because it is able to absorb the victims chakra; D-Rank amount of chakra per turn, and it then uses this chakra to maintain itself. This technique can be multicast to capture multiple targets.

The kunoichi, a log, it hardly mattered - Proximus did was Proximus does best; smash. He seemed to hardly notice that he wasn't holding his intended target as he brought the chunk of log slamming down against what would end up being Desus' shoulder, only to have the feral kunoichi deliver what might have been the most decisive blow thus far, her savage biting finally managing to land upon his wrist! A muffled scream of pain would be heard as he teeth sank into his wrist and blood gushed out through her mouth, but the damage wouldn't be as sever as she wanted. As he was leaping away and diving upon Noreu, Proximus would reached across with his right arm and grab a hold of Desu by the back of the head, wrenching her off of his wrist and flinging her to the ground below before pulling his shield up and continuing his impact as it had been before. (20 Strength & Speed)

As Proximus stood in the crater he created, breathing heavily and dripping blood from his leg and his wrist, he began to feel the effects of the poison in him. It was a tingling in his upper left body, and he could feel a distinct draining sensation that, since he had no training in chakra control, he could not identify. More importantly, though, he could barely grip his buckler as his wrist was now. It was still attached to his arm and he could still move his arm, but the force behind any blow he made would be diminished. Proximus wasn't a tactical genius by any means, but he knew that the force of his buckler was now officially weakened.

Hearing Aiya approach, Proximus would turn to look at her brandishing her improvised naginata towards him silently. He was beginning to grow tired of these ninjas' persistence. Holding back was actually not nearly as easy as it might have seemed, and he wasn't normally put in situations where he had to hold back! He was usually fighting for what semblance of a life he had left, not having to worry about the well being of his foe! In this respect, this encounter was a new experience for the giant. Never the less, he acted.

With a roar of his own in counter to her battle cry, Proximus would lift his right leg and deliver a powerful kick (20 Strength & Speed) to one of the pillars of earth he had created, breaking it at the base and sending it tumbling towards the spider girl on a collision course that, if nothing else, would hopefully divert her from his path for the moment. Meanwhile, the kunai that Ico threw aiming for the back of his leg would miss because of his repositioning, but the shuriken would find its' mark, sinking into his calf. "Mmfh! Proximus would grunt in pain before turning his attention to the circling genin, only to rear his right arm back and slam his kite shield into another one of the pillars, sending it hurtling towards him with the same objective as the one he had sent towards Aiya.

As he was doing this, though, Noreu's jutsu would find its' mark and vines would wrap around his legs. The feeling of draining that he felt from the poison would intensify, but by now Proximus knew exactly who it was that was using vegetation as a weapon. Reaching out to the last pillar, the giant would press his kite shield against it while reaching to the top with his left hand. Weakened as his grip was, he was still able to hold onto the earth powerfully enough to levy it off of the ground with a grunt and send the massive chunk of earth hurtling through the air, launched like a catapult off of his shield, towards the armored genin, once again using the same intent as his previous attacks.

If he had enough time after doing this, he would reach down and remove the shuriken from his calf before dropping it to the ground. He was taking a substantial amount of damage in this fight, and though it was nothing that he could not endure through, his full capabilities were being hampered. Those observant in the audience should realize this and give the genin their due credit! But similarly, Proximus' attacks were growing more and more violent. The samurai who were guarding him were beginning to grow restless, knowing that it was only a matter of time before the prisoner began to fight more seriously at this rate. If that happened, the genin would be in serious danger and the fight would be forced to end prematurely! What would happen first? The end of the exhibition by the call of a judge? Or its' end by intervention?

She mostly cleared the rolling pillar of earth, but her feet ended up caught by it as it rolled underneath, sending her spinning in a forced front flip before landing flat on her back with a "THUD". She groaned in pain, the blow having been the first real hit she had taken the entire fight, but by god his strength was enough to throw her for a loop. Her shins weren't broken, but they'd be severely bruised after a hit like that to her lower body. And that would slow her down for the future... Proximus seemed to really be going all out now too, so what did that mean for the genin moving forward.

As she had her head forcefully removed from the mans wrist she would keep her jaw locked like a rabid attack dog. When her head was removed a chuck of flesh was removed with it which she then happily swallowed. Her first good snack in a long time which was nice, but she soon noticed what the giant was planning and so quickly activated one of the only jutsu she knew. It was a pain in the ass to learn in the academy but she eventually got it right, and thankfully wasn’t as bad as some of the others at least.

As soon as proximus was crashing through the trees she used it to prevent the damage from that as well as the worse damage that was going to happen later. Quickly switching places with a rock a few meters away, she would then start panting exhausted. If it wasn’t for her unique physiology and fractured mental state she would most likely have ran out of gas by now. That said even if she wasn’t aware of it she wasn’t immune to passing out from exhaustion. This strange tired sensation was quite new to her so she wasn’t sure what exactly was going on but figured would keep trying until her body gives out or she is told to stop.

So she would run over and when she sees Aiya going for the strap on his shield she would try to time her own attack so it would happen at the same time since that seemed to work best so far. During her attack she would aim for the shield strap on the opposite arm of the one Aiya was going for. If she couldn’t get that she would aim for the wrist instead trying to weaken it like she did the last one or if possible disable the wrist this time.

A smile spread across Ico’s face as the secondary projectile hit it’s mark, it was apparent the man was starting to buckle under his own weight and the group were managing to do some damage, Ico was circling around the ring and as the large earth structure came towards him he was already moving with enough pace to narrowly get out of the way, the slab of earth slammed against the arena wall breaking up into pieces. He sighed with relief and continued to circle.

The young genin was getting tired and his stomach still in agony, he was not sure how much he had left in himself to keep fighting and now was the time. He charged forward, matching his pace with Aiya so they’d arrive roughly at the same time, though Ico would arrive just after. Whilst Proximus was distracted with her, Ico would attempt to flank him and thrust his blade forwards and aim at Proximus back, hoping to hit it’s mark even if it didn’t Ico would violently twist the blade and change the direction, he had gone for Proximus’ leg every single time so far but now he changed tact and try and catch the titan of a man by surprise, bringing down the weapon on Proximus’ right shoulder attempting to severe the arm away from the man, or at least cause some pain that it would make it more difficult for him to lift weapons and attack.

A simple yet devastating technique, the practitioner executes a powerful thrust towards the opponent. At the end of the thrust, or just as the blade is making contact with the opponent if it hits, the practitioner violently rotates the blade in any single direction and finishes the technique with a slash in the direction the sword was twisted. This additional rotation and slash at the end can further damage opponents or catch an opponent that has evaded the original thrust by strafing to either side, ducking, or jumping.

Noeru stood watching the giant get tangled up in his vines. The three pillars stood around him and a few moments later he began launching them at the rest of the team. Noeru crouched as he watched the man pick up the last slab and aim it towards him. At the last second Noeru, dived to the side, dodging the slab by the tiniest margin, it scraped against his armor as he flew towards the ground. Now the rest of the team were upon him, and he finally activated his jutsu. His arm began forming into a wooden spike as he picked himself up and dashed towards the man. Usually this just is used in a long-ranged manner, but after witnessing the strength of this man, Noeru decided that he would forsake the distance and attack him head on.

He dashed towards the man, Ico was in front of him, moving faster and approaching the man quicker than Noeru could at his fastest speeds. Simultaneously, Noeru paid attention to what the rest of his group were doing, and his aim was to attack this titan at a spot that was open and not a target of anybody else in the team. Seeing that the girls were aiming for the arms, the youth was going for the shoulder, Noeru would go for the leg that had already been wounded. As he approached, his arm would turn completely into a spike and he would stab it at the wound, hopefully driving it through the mans leg completely.

The match was entering its' endgame at this point with all four of the genin launching attacks towards the giant in t he hopes of finishing him off once and for all. Damage had been given and dealt on both sides and all eyes were excitedly watching carefully, awaiting the outcome whatever it may be. Would the team of four come out on top? Would the silent giant? It seemed like it was anyone's guess at this point who would come out on top, and as the young ninja rushed in for what might very well be their final assault the crowd cheered!

And Proximus waited.

As Aiya came back in close, once more transformed into her arachnid visage, swinging her weapon as though to cleave his side, Proximus would seemingly create an opening by lifting his right arm up, exposing his side to the cutting edge of her stone blade! This, however, was just a feint to get her to commit to the swing as before she could find her mark his hand would dart down with frightening speed, grabbing a hold of the blade of the weapon and stopping it dead in its' tracks! (30 Strength & Speed). Proximus' shadowy eyes would stare down Aiya with a crushing emptiness as his right hand clenched and broke the blade of the naginata, shattering it into useless pieces.

At roughly the same time, Desu came charging in with her same line of attack as before. The giant briefly turned his attention towards her to counter attack by pulling his left arm back and driving his elbow against the side of her head with enough force to not only knock her off course but to send her driving into the ground (25 Strength & Speed). This he did before returning his attention back to Aiya and raising his right leg to plant his foot directly in her gut with the intent of sending her flying backwards and away from him, perhaps even on a collision course with one of the arena walls! (25 Strength & Speed).

Returning his attention back to the spider gave him enough time to see Ico trying to run behind him and attack him from his perceived weak spot. Smart, but not at all hidden, and his movements were somewhat slower thanks to his stomach still causing him pain more likely than not. As such he would turn his body and block the oncoming strikes of the blade with his kite shield, only to twist around in the opposite direction and once again use his left elbow in a wide arch, attempting to drive it into the back of the sword wielding ninja and drive him face first into the arena floor! (25 Strength & Speed).

Lastly came Noreu and for the armor-clad genin this was a first! A direct attack in much the same vein as his team mates had been doing the entire fight. Perhaps he thought that it was time to get in close as well, perhaps believing in some false sense that the four of them were capable of actually injuring the man seriously if they worked together? Proximus could only assume, and as the genin thrust the wooden stake forward he would deal with it in exactly the same manner as he had Aiya's weapon, raising his right arm as if to create an opening before swiftly driving it back down and grabbing onto the spike in order to halt the attack in its' tracks. This time, however, the giant seemed to show a bit of hesitation as his initial grip wasn't strong enough to shatter the spike of wood immediately. This, too, might imbue a false sense of confidence if only momentarily.

Confidence that would undoubtedly be shattered as with a frustrated, "RRAGH!" Proximus would increase the grip strength in his right hand and splinter the stake attacked to Noreu before realigning his arm and thrusting his shield forward to bash into the armored genin, his arm swinging upwards as he connected in an attempt to fling the genin backwards with a mighty blow that may very well smash the armor! (40 Strength & Speed for each) Following up on this, should it come to pass, Proximus would leap through the arena air and land on the ground above Noreu, feet on either side on his shoulders (though his left foot would still land on the balls of his feet due to the spikes in his foot). With a second roar he would raise that enormous kite shield up high in the air over his head and bring it driving down on the genin as though to decapitate him! Was this the end for Noreu!?!

Should all of this come to pass, right as the giant was bringing his shield down to connect with the young ninja, two men clad in expertly made armor, swords drawn, would flit their way through the crowd, over the arena wall and in between Proximus and Noreu, blades crossed, intercepting the incoming shield. "ENOUGH!" one of them would yell while a third and fourth came at Proximus from behind, each with their swords drawn but a set of chains in their hands as well that they would throw on either side of the giant gladiator. The chains would fly through the air as though guided by the aid of a jutsu and snap connected to the manacles on Proximus' arms and legs, then as one the samurai would yank on the chains and force Proximus to reel backwards. At which point the other two samurai would dash around and grab a hold of the chains as well, pulling them apart and down so as to force the prisoner's limbs apart and pull him even further back one step at a time.

"The fight is over! You're done! We're taking you back to your hole and you will never be brought out again!!" one of the samurai shouted, and these words seemed to reach Proximus who went still and limp, hunching forward and panting heavily. The wound on his wrist was bleeding quite profusely still, as was his left foot, the poison still coursing its' way through his veins and draining his chakra. How amazingly quickly he grew docile once he realized that the fight was being forced to end. Some people in the crowd clapped and cheered, some booed, Proximus was still. He turned around and held his arms out, letting the samurai remove his weapons and chain his wrists together. Then they would lead the limping giant out of the arena and away, to be forgotten by history or remembered as mystery and myth.

The last thing that Proximus would do before exiting the arena is turn his head around and look back at the genin. "Well fought," he would say in a deep yet strangely soothing voice. That was all. He turned his iron masked head and vanished into the darkness he was lead into by the samurai guards, and like that, the bout was over.

Aiya thought she was about to land a solid slash against the giant's side, so much so she expected to see the blood pour... But just before her stony edge made contact, the giant's hand flew down in a flash of movement and gripped her blade. A moment later, he grunted with effort and shattered it to pieces, causing her to reel back, stunned and amazed at his speed and strength. She tried not to let it phase her, tried to keep up her assault with the blunt staff instead, but the moment his foot made contact with her stomach it shattered her defenses almost immediately, sending her flying back several meters to the Arena wall behind her. She hit that wall too with a solid "THUD" heard throughout the arena, a few onlookers "ooh" ing in pain as they watched her drop to her knees. Her own yelp of pain was also clearly audible, and her spidery transformation began to recede as she slowly lost consciousness.

Her arms folded back inside of her body, her skin lightened, and her hair grew back as her eyes disappeared. Her green eyes followed the giant man as her vision faded, and the last thought that crossed her mind?

I need to learn how to use a shield like he does...

A moment later, the girl finally fell face first into the dirt. She was done.

Desu would be moving at the same time as Aiya still a bit wobbly as her body was on the verge of collapsing though she ignored most of it and did her best to cooperate with the other Genin. She was careful to time her attack at the same time as Aiya plus the previous attacks were working so why wouldn’t this one. They seemed to be chipping away at him slowly but out of no where at the same time The man somehow stopped her aiya and even ico all at the same time. The attack came out of no where, on top of that because of its speed she was unable to avoid it or protect against it at all.

She had no idea what happened it’s possible he was just finally starting to get serious, though she wondered how were they supposed to beat this guy in the first place? She wondered if this was all just a opportunity for the villages to show there appreciation for everything the genin have done so far. That would make sense, she also noticed that the other genin couldn’t heal like her so they were looking a lot more damaged. Which is most likely why they had the guy hold back so much, it sucks for her since she didn’t get to enjoy the appreciation match as much but oh well. She would then soon passout with a half hearted smile on her face.

Ico’s blade soared towards the man, but it was met again by Proximus’ shield with ease. The young genin was shocked how easily the man could defend four attacks all at once, he moved with such precision and ability.

He didn’t get to admire it for long, as he was pummelled face first into the ground, as he sword flung through the air and stabbed into the ground a few meters away from him. He could taste a metallic twang as his mouth his nose was filled with blood and poured into his mouth.

He groaned as he slowly dragged himself up, glad that the bout was finally over. He watched as the titan of a man limped away, Ico smiled to himself knowing that he had at least caused the limp. He’d consider it a small victory.

Noerus eyes widened as the beast gripped his wooden spike. Trying his best to drive it forwards, he realized how out matched he was. Then a loud roar came from the man right before the spike burst into a thousand wood chips. In that moment Noeru realized, that the wrath of this man was now after him. With an impossibly quick swing of his shield, he struck Noeru, sending him flying a few meters backwards. His head was pounding, spinning, he was seeing stars all around him. About to lose consciousness, Noeru looked up and saw the silhouette of the man standing over him, arms in the air looking like he was about to swing something down.

When Noeru came to, he was led a very bright white room. He could barely move, his face was all bandaged up and so was most of his upper body. He could still move his arms and legs, and he used that to try to get someones attention by playing with the curtain. But, he could not hear anyone coming.
