Round 2: Genin Bouts - Desomonsuta vs Noeru

[Ace Trainer]

The arena has a 25m radius and is mostly comprised of grass land, trees to provide some shelter and texture to the battlefield. However, 5m from the wall surrounding the entire arena is sandy terrain. The arena is marked by a 20m high wall that is built in the shape of a doughnut, the seats are layered with ten rows running along the whole perimeter of the arena. There is a tower that is supported by pillars and columns above the northers side of the stadium, this is where the representatives of other nations are seated. The participants have the own place to wait until their turn, it is at the bottom section of the wall surrounding the battlefield and has a viewing window that allows the participants to watch fighting that take place. Desomonsuta will begin at the eastern most point, standing directly in front of the sand. Noeru will begin at the western most point, standing directly in front of the sand.

Desu entered the arena on all fours like usual, blood dripping from her mouth from a recent meal, she would then keep moving at a moderate pace until she was at the center of the arena then would wait for her opponent to enter the arena.

She wondered how this opponent would taste? How would there bones sound when they snap? Would she even be able to eaten them? As well as how would they compare to the last one who used shields. All these questions ran through her mind as she waited.

Noeru heard the banging on the door and a voice that followed. The voice told him that his fight was about to begin and that he should make his way over to the arena. Noeru let out a bit of sigh as he once again had to prove his worthiness before hundredds of people. Last time it was a team battle. Now it was back to one-on-one battles and the was a small flame burning in his stomach as he excitedly thought about who his opponent was going to be. In a quick and smooth motion he jumped to his feet from the bench he was sat on, stretched his major muscles, and finally began heading towards the door that would lead him to the arena where he would meet his opponent.

He twisted the handle and pulled the door towards him. A breeze burst in through the door, and sent his hair into a flurry. He let out a small chuckle, 'Even the weather knows whats about to happen...' he then let out a chuckle, dashed through the door, not bothering to shut it behind him. Step after step he dashed the small incline and eventually arrived in the arena, his vision fixated on his opponent, whom he knew from his team battle. It was the wild girl from The Village Hidden in the Clouds. A wide grin appeared on his face as he was now about to be tested against an individual he previously fought alongside. It was time to show off his real skill.

The girl was running around the field on all faurs, a style he had witnessed already, it was one he was not planning on going easy on. His hands became a flutter of signs as he gathered his chakra on his skin and all of a sudden, wooden began to envelop his skin until it turned into a something that resembled samurais armor. It protected him well, it left no open spaces that would allow the girl for easy attack. He somewhat understood the way she fought and he was going to have to do his best to come up with a counter. 'She fights mainly using close ranged attacks, but she also has those strange projectile things in her forearm protectors... That lets he fight from a longer distance. Right I might have a plan.' Noeru thought as he was running away from his opponent to keep his distance.

Mokuton [Wood Release]: Creation
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Description: The user is able to create any object out of wood. The amount of chakra used is based on the object being created. But the general rule of thumb is that D-rank amount of chakra will create 10 Kunai, 10 Shuriken, and 20 Senbon. Any object that is created and the participants want to keep it after the thread, has to be priced by a member of staff and has to be paid by the character keeping the object.

Desu was still in full sprint towards the middle of the arena when she saw her opponent enter and to her surprise it was someone she knew about before. This made things interesting especially since they seemed to be a long range fighter and desu was a close range one. So she decided to close the distance though she was already moving at full speed from the start. As she got closer and closer she would begin looking on as he started a jutsu and while it was still forming she would drool in anticipation of her new meal. As soon as she was close enough she would try to start slashing rapidly at any non vital area that wasnt protected yet by the still forming jutsu. Though would give priority to the shoulders where they connected to the arms or the knees if they weren’t protected.

She was curious about this person she knew they used wood but considering the last person was far stronger she didn’t know how effective it would be on her. She just hoped she could use him to get some food, she wasn’t allowed human in the village. But she wasn’t told she couldn’t eat people here was just told no killing. So she assumed she could take bites out of places that wouldn’t normally kill them. Plus it would be fun to hear them scream.

The girl was making a move by heading directly for him. It seemed that she was focused on taking this battle into close quarters. Noeru was moving away from the girl at his fastest speed. But the girl was slightly faster than him and was closing the distance between them. Noeru began waving another string of handseals as he kept a watchful eye on his opponent and kept on running away from her. He was confident that his armor would withstand damage the girl would inflict if it came to it. But he was going to try a different tactic. Upon finishing the string of hand seals Noeru would focus his chakra on the whereabouts of the girl and suddenly the earth would erupt with wooden vines that would try to wrap themselves around the girl and bind her in place.

If successful Noeru would stop to catch his breath as he continued to watch the girl who would now be be bound by his jutsu and begin to plan his next move.

Mokuton [Wood Release]: Deaths Grip
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Description: The user performs a string of handseals and upon completion will concentrate on their target. Then, roots will erupt from the ground, wrapping around the target to the point that they cannot move. The victim will require [Strength] higher than the users [Control] + Mokuton passive to break free of the bindings. This technique is named this way because it is able to absorb the victims chakra; D-Rank amount of chakra per turn, and it then uses this chakra to maintain itself. This technique can be multicast to capture multiple targets.

Desu noticed the armor jutsu still wasn’t finished yet so she still had time to eat him. Problem was the next jutsu he had used she had no way of avoiding it and wasn’t sure how strong it would be so she had to think fast and quickly used a substitution jutsu in a bush next to Noeru she would immediately after slash at either the back of noeru’s unprotected knee or the back of the ankle where the foot connects to the leg. It would then appear like there was two desu’s until the vines started draining chakra it would and the second desu would just turn into a log.

The armor would have formed by now, covering him from head to toe without restricting his movements in any way. As Noeru was preforming the hand seals for his jutsu, he noticed that the girl herself was waving a string of hand seals. The string he recognized as it was a technique they were taught back at the academy, the kawarimi. She was planning on avoiding his technique by changing places with a wooden log, thought Noeru as he carried on moving away from her. Upon completing his hand seals and casting the jutsu, the earth erupted and wrapped itself around the girl, causing her to be wrapped in smoke as she changed location with a nearby bush... Noerus eyes located the girl without any trouble and his body behaved accordingly as he saw her sprinting towards him, instantly beginning to wave a combination of seals and moving away from her to allow more time for his jutsu to complete. The girl and her savageness pursued Noeru, it was clear that she was quicker than him. This would not discourage him from fighting, instead it pushed him to burst through his limits. Noeru awaited for the timing to be right, while still waving his seals, and when the girl launched herself to strike, he would push off his leg and dart at a ninety-degree angle to her. Avoiding her attack and building a distance between them as he completed his jutsu. Soon after, the tendrils of his mokuton element would erupt from the ground in an attempt to bind the girl.

((Ooc making a complaint because I don’t think the jutsu at 3 control would finish that fast especially since I basically used my one teleportation to reach you faster while also avoiding your attempt to buy time plus I was running full speed the entire time only to slow down partially to use a jutsu to teleport myself to you on the other hand you had to slow down to cast two different jutsu that granted no speed boosts))

Throughout the thread my character has been running away from yours, meaning your character has been approaching him at 3 speed (11 - 8 = 3) If you character can cover 25 - 30 meters in such a short amount of time, I struggle to see how a jutsu which has the job of forming around the user with 3 Speed, in a not great amounts would fail to do so as it happens simultaneously all over the body rather than one section at a time. You also "teleported" yourself to a 'bush' which you pulled out of thin air. In the past when kawarimi has been used during the exams I for example teleported to the trees which are mentioned in the description of the arena. The two jutsu that you mention have been used in separate posts, the reason the first is mentioned in the second post is to give a context of time. My attempt of 'buying time' is simply me moving away from you as, again, 11 Speed - 8 Speed results in a speed of 3, no where in the rules there is a specified amount of how much the speed is reduced. Also, I don't see how a character that is based around the use of Ninjutsu would experience the same amount of speed loss as someone who isn't. You also failed to post the jutsu you used.[/spoiler[

[ Dot didn't challenge the initial post regarding the Kawarimi, so that whole action goes through (it definitely shouldn't have). Additionally, when performing techniques likes Kawarimi, you need a moment to "adjust" so to speak, so you probably shouldn't have been able to attack right away.

Even at that speed, though, the armor definitely would have finished in Dots previous post, not the one being contested. Noeru definitely would be able to dodge Deso's attack, or at a minimum let the armor eat it. But he wouldn't really have time to complete a jutsu as in Anime's uncontested post, Deso appears directly next to Noeru. So you'll need to do some different sort of counter, Dot.

That Mokuton jutsu needs a range, btw, though. ]

After she reappeared in the bush she would be within striking distance of noeru but because of the adjustment period of the jutsu she was too woozy to attack for now. As soon as noeru tried to sprint away to gain distance and buy time desu would quickly follow staying within striking distance of him the whole time. Denying him the time he was trying to buy for his jutsu. As soon as the adjustment period of the jutsu she just used was over she would attempt to grab both noeru’s arms there by making him choose

He would either have to move his hands to prevent him from being grabbed making him unable to perform the jutsu or he would be grabbed and his one arm would be pulled away from him and moved behind his back into a awkard and uncomfortable position until it snapped by someone far stronger then he is. While the other arm would be pulled in the opposite direction and once the first snapped she would then snap the second one. This would normally be Impossible if his armor prevented his full range of movement but thankfully for her it didn’t. He may possibly still be able to pull off the jutsu before the short time His arm is pulled out of range of each other though if he hurried but it would be difficult.

As the adjustment period did not only stop the user of a teleportation technique from attacking, but also from moving full stop. Noeru would take advantage of the distance already between them and increase it even more while his hands still moved through the sequence of signs to perform the jutsu once more. And upon completion vines would once again erupt from the ground and bind the girl in place.

Since there was only a few inches of distance between them after the teleportation and the adjustment period was only a few seconds combined with desu superior speed noeru wasn’t able to get that far before desu followed after him and got close to reaching him. Sadly for desu the distance covered did in fact keep her out of attack range, so she wasn’t able to stop the jutsu from being cast. But since she did see the jutsu cast before she was able to recognize the seals and would keep running full speed at noeru but would time it so immediately after he was finished with the seals but before the jutsu activated she would jump to the right and slide for half a second before continuing to chase after noeru.

She would quickly reach him entering attack range before he could cast another jutsu and if she saw him try to use another jutsu she would reach out and grab one of his arms before he could. Otherwise she would just start slashing at him.

With his back turned to Desu, it would be impossible for her to see the seals he was performing without some sort of ocular jutsu that allowed her to see through peoples bodies. So upon completion of his seals, a quick glance behind him, to ensure her whereabouts were correct, the earth would erupt, under Desu, with vines and attempt to wrap themselves around the girl with speeds superior to hers, binding her in place.

Would see his arms move slightly as he performed the seals because even if his hands were hidden moving them still required muscles that were attached to his arms which would cause them to slightly move or tighten.
so after she reached him shortly after his last failed jutsu she would grab his arms to prevent him from doing more jutsu. He could always try to move his arms out of the way but that would interrupt the jutsu he was using plus it would be difficult to know she was going to grab his arms since his back was turned.

As soon as she grabbed them she would then proceed to bend them in unnatural ways until they snapped.

While running, it would be impossible to distinguish between what the movement of the hands was from the movement the arms carried out as a result of moving at their highest speed. The jutsu that originally erupted from the ground would not fail as the speeds were higher than the victims and the jutsu occurred at a point blank range rising from the ground beneath the victim to bind them in place. When the vines erupted from the ground, they'd immediately grasp Desu's ankle as an initiation before further progressing up her body until none of her limbs, nor her head, could make a a tiniest fraction, completely freezing her in place. Noeru carried on moving forwards away from the girl.

this because the posture for performing hands seals let alone doings it in a way that completely obscures it with your body is so drastically different from running that the running would make no difference and wouldn’t be able to obscure the fact he is trying to do hand seals.
They may not know what the exact seals are but would know that’s he’s planning a jutsu That would effect her most likely and seeing as Hes tried to do a jutsu in the past plus there’s the fact that he mentioned in his first post after the Kawarimi finished he started the seals and was running immediately after seeing me so there’s a good chance I would be able to see the first seal he used before he moved far enough away that his back would be to me

Also he never he never mentioned how he saw me he just said he did then started performing seals and running so it’s unlikely He had his back to me when he started the seals.))

Elemental jutsu share similar hand seals at the beginning because of the same nature, even if you saw the initial hand seals you would not be able figure out if it was the same or different jutsu. Plus your post states very little about her positioning in terms of where Noeru is, all it says is that she 'reappeared' next to him. Logically, if your body would be replaced, you would be in the exact same position in a different place, frozen, and since you were running towards Noeru, you would not be facing him unless Noeru run around the bush, or jumped over it, which he didn't do. The thing about obscuring hand seals, arms move a lot when running, and the amount of movement required to perform hand seals is very little in comparison.

Noeru knew where Haruka would reappear because the 'bush' was the only thing close by and the bush appearing in harukas stead

[Theres no way at this level they would be able to distinguish handseals and recognize specific elements or jutsu. Unlikely that Noeru could do anything ot meaningfully hide handseals, nor that Deso would be able to extract any meaningful information from it. ]

Would keep chasing after noeru on all fours like she has been the whole time looking on curiously as he starts using hand signs unaware of what they mean. But knew he was planning on using some sort of jutsu. She needed a way to distract him or better yet blind him so but then gets a idea. As soon as noeru started to turn his head to look at her so he could target her for the jutsu she would dig up a bunch of dirt with her clawed gauntlet then when his head was looking at her she would quickly throw the dirt in his face to blind him or at least give her more time to plan her next move. She then keeps moving trying to find a way to reach him before he can disable her.

As he turned his head and saw Desu digging in the ground, he realized that this was the perfect opportunity to cast his jutsu. He turned his head back around as the wooden vines erupted from the ground around Desu and would proceed to bind her in place. Noeru would then carry on running forwards aiming to put a distance between the two of them, occasionally glancing back to see whether his jutsu was successful.

Desu would actually be already done digging by the time Noeru looked at her and would throw dirt in his face temporarily blinding him. She would then continue to chase after him causing her to inadvertently avoid the jutsu in the process because she was no longer in the place he targeted and couldn’t target a different spot until the irritation from the dirt she threw at him subsided. She would then soon catch up to him and try to slash at him.

Noeru would simply turn his head back around as he saw Desu lift the dirt from the ground, and by now the jutsu would have erupted from the ground and be proceeding to wrap itself around Desu.

The time would come for the match to end, and Noeru would find that his jutsu would instantly wilt as a large stone wall would erupt between the pair keeping them apart. As quickly as it formed, it would fade away into dust, leaving the pair standing. The judges each looked displeased, and would whisper amongst themselves momentarily. Finally, Kumiko would stand, "This match should have highlighted quite a number of needs amongst the both of you to improve. For the time, however, Noeru performed at a marginally higher level. We have elected to keep our feedback private at this time, and your leadership will each receive it in order to further guide you. However, Noeru proceeds to the next round.", the trio would then stand, nodding their heads respectfully to the two shinobi, and turning to leave. IT seemed they just wanted this to be over.
