Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Ace Trainer » Mon Aug 09, 2021 10:15 pm

The arena has a 25m radius and is mostly comprised of grass land, trees to provide some shelter and texture to the battlefield. However, 5m from the wall surrounding the entire arena is sandy terrain. The arena is marked by a 20m high wall that is built in the shape of a doughnut, the seats are layered with ten rows running along the whole perimeter of the arena. There is a tower that is supported by pillars and columns above the northers side of the stadium, this is where the representatives of other nations are seated. The participants have the own place to wait until their turn, it is at the bottom section of the wall surrounding the battlefield and has a viewing window that allows the participants to watch fighting that take place. Shinji will begin at the eastern most point, standing directly in front of the sand. Taiga will begin at the western most point, standing directly in front of the sand.

The judges for this bout will be Nu, Sha, and Ji (all judges will be controlled by Onu sicne he's not participating in this event and it will expedite the process (maybe))

First poster has 72 hours to respond, all following posts have 48 hours, with one [1] extension granted upon request. Please ensure you're familiar with the rules for the event. If you're currently in registry, the 72 hours begins once both participants have been approved.

Shinji posts first.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Tue Aug 10, 2021 1:15 am

Shinjiro had been disappointed at first that there were no representatives from Suna or Kumo participating in the exhibition matches. Nonetheless, of the enemy nations it always was Konoha that had the largest number of powerful shinobi, and it was no surprise that they had entered two of the best they had to offer. The young Jinchuuriki had never fought either Yoru or Taiga before, though he felt like he knew them both well, having heard much about their reputations and encountered them at previous events. The man he would fight today was only a few years older than himself and a fellow host, one he had seen phase through ground and people alike. He would be problematic for a taijutsu specialist such as himself. Therefore, he would have to pull out some of his tricks that he had saved over the years. With the war over there was little point in continuing to hold back in these tournaments. He could at least properly test himself now.

Before entering the arena, he had made sure to provide a fresh coating of his specific poisons, his black sword lathered with grey fluid, his red with crimson. Each of his throwing knives similarly were coated in the red poison while his shuriken were coated in the grey. He had no idea if poison would work against this opponent, but he would have to put several strategies to the test. The first thing he would do upon the start of the match was manifest his wings, the large black bat wings sprouting from his back as he flapped powerfully to move forward and up a distance of 10 meters. As he moved to the sky his very blood itself began to surge and pulse to the surface of his skin, entering perhaps his most deadly form, the blood mist began to form around him. He was wary of getting too close to his opponent without fully understanding his capabilities and likewise, he knew he couldn’t trust the ground. If he could keep his opponent at bay and keep to the sky then perhaps he would be able to learn the ins and outs of how his opponent's techniques worked and discover a weakness.
Jutsu UsedShow
Assassins Flight
A-Ranked Partial Kaerujutsu
This transformation allows Shinji to grow a pair of large bat wings from his upper back. Each wing is 3 meters long and 1.5 meters wide and typically brown or black in color. These wings are fully functional allowing Shinji flight capabilities. As an extension of his body Shinji has learned how to fly and move as swiftly and silently as he normally would.

Red Demon
S-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisite: [Heavenly Taijutsu], 35 Strength
Upon entering this stance Shinji’s blood will run flush through his body, rising to the surface of his skin, turning it red and leaking out of his pores, even his eyes will redden. In addition to oozing out of his skin however his blood will begin to form an aura around him in a 15 meter radius that spreads at a speed equal to his strength that follows him as he moves, acting like a thin mist of blood that will soak into the clothes and any open orifices of anyone who enters the mist. This stance can last for up to 7 posts and upon dispersal the bloody mist will pulse outward to a 25-meter radius at a speed equal to his strength, shedding the rest of the blood on the surface of Shinji’s skin and anything soaked into his clothes before returning his skin tone to normal.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:25 am

Taiga emerged from his side of the arena, wading just past the sand. The names had been called, but the battle not yet set. Ever the dramatist, Taiga waved his hand forward in the air to the crowd, beckoning to them. Gracefully, his hand switched direction as he pointed to his opponent, his hand gracefully falling down to his gut as he bowed deeply.

It had been years since the skirmish of Soul, but Taiga's memory was quite vivid. He remembered hearing cries on the comms for backup- and he remembered that the one they needed backup against was the young man before him.

Shinji of the mist. His lips mirrored the sound of his memory. All Taiga knew was that he was a fearsome Taijutsu combatant who possessed the ability to change his body since he was a Jinchuuriki, like him. That was soon obvious when he sprouted wings and began to jump right into combat.

He exhaled a large puff of smoke as he took a ready stance.

"Jeez, at least say hi to a fella before you start your mating calls." Taiga said as he took off, making sure to keep ample distance by moving around the edge of the ring as his eyes kept an eye on his opponent.

The beat of his wings are a pattern. There is timing in each beat- timing needed to keep a float, to keep speed, needed to fly... his mind noted as he tailwind began to build up around him. He debated whether or not he should take flight too- however he felt he would save that for last, as likely Shinji didn't know he could fly. By now, his eyes would look like they were dancing as they looked up and down Shinji for every detail and he did a short seal, letting out another puff of smoke. Should Shinji have seen that, even more smoke would begin to release, filling the area around him.

Each blade seems to be coated in something- some liquid of sorts. Poison? Shit, Suu, can we even phase poison?

Being a defensive power house more than an offensive power house, perhaps this would be a tricky fight.

usedShow
[Genjutsu • Smoke Screen]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After the appropriate hand seals, Taiga will let out a large breathe of smoke due to his genma. Anyone who sees this peculiar smoke will be trapped in his illusion and see the area round them fill with smoke for the next 5 posts. This smoke limits their vision to a 4 meter radius around them. Because this is a genjutsu and no smoke is actually there, attempts to remove the smoke will ultimately fail.

Passive Stuffs:
Konoha no Senken • The Monkey Sees
B-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Humans follow patterns and in combat this is no exception, ranging from taijutsu to hand seals. Patterns already being easier to remember, Taiga has worked hard at actively committing whatever he sees to his short-term memory. This allows him to remember things such as the beginning torque to a kick or a hand seal pattern after seeing it once, so that he can recognize the technique if used later in a battle, giving him an advantage in anticipating his opponents next action and effectively making an opponent’s consecutive usage of a technique a liability.

Flying Swallow • Birds of Prey
S-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Prerequisite: 50 Willpower, [Perception]
With immense willpower and perception skills, Taiga has trained himself to be one with his environment much like birds of prey. Able to keep his focus in all situations with great pose he is cognizant of subtle details around him, capable of honing in on the slightest changes of air or even the smallest movements in the fibers of an opponents clothes, allowing him to pick up on their movement and predict it before it is complete. This can also be used outside of combat for lip reading, or even guessing what someone writes by watching the eraser of the pencil etc. This causes him to seem rather ADD at times as his eyes rapidly tracking movements around him. A downfall to this technique however is that while his eyes and brain may be aware of movement, his body is not always capable of knowing and keeping up. Meaning he has to be physically capable still of responding to threats or capitalizing on weaknesses, even if he perceives them.

Konoha no Senken • Tailwind
B-Rank Maneuver Taijutsu
Required: [Heavenly Body Control]
The Flying Swallow Style developed by the Sarutobi family is a NinTai style. To circumvent the need for ninjutsu in Konoha no Senken, practitioners instead use their own explosive movements to bend the wind around their body and create a powerful tailwind behind them. While they move, this tail wind violently circulates around their body, building up pressure. Each post the the user is consecutively moving forward at a minimum of [Speed]/2, the wind gains [Speed]/2 strength. It can be used as a shield to protect the user, or through the use of another technique can be released. The maximum amount of times the technique can gain speed is 2 times. If the user stops moving or drops below [Speed/2] for more than a post the wind dissipates.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Tue Aug 10, 2021 11:45 pm

Shinjiro wasn’t much of a conversationalist or boaster when he was in combat, especially when representing his village in a tournament such as this. Exhibition or not he had earned a fearsome reputation and owed it to his village to maintain a strong winning streak. Everyone’s eyes would be on the matches between Konoha and Kiri. The war had ended due to their conflict, and it seemed fitting that they would be the most invested in sending strong representatives. The world was watching, and pride was at stake.

Similarly, he watched Taiga closely, he was better at learning from his opponents and anticipating attacks when actively engaged in combat though he could still discern a few things from a distance. Most notably his opponent was fast and confident in their stride and the way wind began to form around them from their method of running alone only affirmed that like him this opponent was likely most effective at close range, using superhuman taijutsu abilities and the powers of their Genma to make them unpredictable and adaptive opponents. Truly, it seemed this man would be a worthy opponent for him.

They were each cautious, feeling each other out. In order to take advantage of his ability to fly and to keep away from the aura of wind it seemed hit and run tactics from a mid-long range would be advantageous. There was a weapon in his possession that might turn the tide of the battle in his favor, but was he really willing to reveal his trump card so soon? He had been hoping to save it for Yoru, though perhaps it was worth using now. The way his opponent was analyzing him, he knew he couldn’t afford to be idle for long. He was just beginning to purse his lips when he noticed the handseal and suddenly smoke began flooding the arena. Immediately he noticed the lack of scent but that alone didn’t guarantee it was genjutsu. Either way it wasn’t an immediate deterrent to him, it just meant a momentary adaptation was necessary. Instinctively he transformed his head into that of a great horned owl, allowing him to hear with great clarity his opponent’s heartbeat as well as every step and the tell-tale aura of wind around him.

His head now that of an owl he began to hoot, the echoing haunting call flooding the arena. He could still speak normally even in this form, but whistling was notably more cumbersome to he figured he might as well do what was more natural. Moreover, it would likely seem more like a genjutsu trigger this way, something he did in fact utilize on occasion. The 2ft long arrow at his hip burst out of its sheath. A little over a quarter of the arena was currently consumed in his aura of blood, he would yet condense the space further, tossing a pair of canisters while the arrow homed in on Taiga, blue ‘smoke’ would engulf a 10 meter diameter area to Shinji’s left, while green ‘smoke’ would spread over a 10 meter diameter to his right. These spheres of blood and smoke would be spaced in such a way to have very minimal overlap with each other, leaving only a roughly 10-meter diameter area for Taiga to maneuver in. The arrow would aim to cut him off as he ran back and forth and attempt to drive him toward whichever biome of toxic substances the boy was closest to. As an additional measure Shinjiro would hurl a pair of shuriken with 45 Strength aimed center of mass while Taiga inevitably maneuvered to evade the much more dangerous 50 speed arrow that could follow him quite precisely. Depending on his reaction time, methods and what level of phasing ability he displayed would determine how Shinjiro proceeded next with the match.
Jutsu UsedShow
Situational Awareness
B-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception]
Shinji has developed a keen sense of awareness of his environment. His innate attention to detail allows him to memorize the layout of an area or building as well as having a knack for identifying the entrances and exits as well as the positions of any other people in the area and even important details about that person, allowing him to see through disguises or transformations unless the opponent has a technique to mask their appearance of equal or greater rank. This grants him an almost a sixth sense in combat situations and his constant readiness allows him to more easily detect hostile intent and escape from ambushes.

Awareness of the Owl
B-Ranked Partial Kaerujutsu
Flowing chakra towards his head Shinjiro can take on the appearance of a great horned owl. Only from the neck up is he transformed, allowing him to turn his head 270 degrees, see clearly in the dark up to 250 meters away and hear the heartbeats of even creatures as small as a mouse from a range up to 100 meters.

[Deaths Breath] (1 Cannister Used)
A-Rank Gas & Coating Poison
This poison affects the victim by being absorbed through the body or being inhaled and absorbed into their bloodstream. Each canister will deploy a 10-meter diameter cloud of light green poison that will linger in the air unless disposed of by some other means. Shinjiro can also infuse this poison as his own breath attack according to his Shinigami’s curse ability. Those affected will find their strength-sapping away as well as suffer from nausea and varying states of delirium with those with less than 20 Endurance barely able to process basic thoughts, vomiting frequently and struggling to walk due to disorientation, 20-30 and they will be disoriented with their vision blurred and balance skewed, mind cloudy. Those with over 30 Endurance will only experience mild dizziness and moderate nausea in addition to the sapping of their strength.
• Onset Time: Immediate
• Run Time: 4 Posts
• Effect: -5 Strength Per Post exposed

[Chakra Bane]
A-Rank Gas & Coating Poison (1 Cannister Used)
This poison affects the victim by absorbing through their body and directly into their chakra system or being inhaled. Each cannister will deploy a 10-meter diameter cloud of turquoise poison that will linger in the air unless disposed of by some other means. Shinjiro can also infuse this poison to utilize as his breath attack and/or infuse it into his bloodstream and other bodily fluids according to his Shinigami’s Curse ability. Those affected will find their chakra flow impaired, limiting their control and ability to perform ninjutsu. For each post the user is exposed to this poison the effect will stack though the 4 post runtime will count starting from the first exposure and not re-start from additional exposures within that timeframe.
• Onset Time: Immediate
• Run Time: 4 Posts
• Effect: -5 Control Per Post Exposed

Malevolence
“For nobody is curious, who isn't malevolent.”
An arrow, approximately 2 feet in length, with a steel tip and flayed bottom. Malevolence is a single weapon, and is controlled often through the user’s voice, though variations have existed throughout history. The speed in which Malevolence moves, and the strength in which it strikes is equal to that of the user’s 'Malevolence' weapon stat. Its slim body and simple design makes it difficult to see coming, and even harder to dodge, and its ability to be controlled makes it able to make sharp turns, simply stop in mid air, and easily alter its course. Additionally, the arrow is capable of splitting itself, creating 2 individuals that can all be controlled independent of each other. This weapon is stored in a thin black sheath at Shinji’s his left hip with the tip pointing outward there remains just enough space in the sheath to flow poisons into it, able to coat the length of the arrow while retaining a snug fit for the weapon.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Wed Aug 11, 2021 11:17 am

Taiga was being cautious; he didn't want to use his trump card so soon, but it seemed his opponent was more than just a simple-minded beast. He had a knack for throwing stuff. At least his fleabrain had the intelligence of a monkey. Yanno, cause really even monkeys could throw things. The interesting thing wasn't how he was throwing it however but rather what he was throwing. Blue and green? Given his weapons and now this something told Taiga he it wasn't just a scent or pretty visual thing. Also, come on, green smoke? How much more obvious could you be?

"You should probably paint a sign that says "this is poison"."

By now between his smoke clouds, Taiga's genjutsu, and the guy's own massive blood storm or whatever it was.... still gross by the way... there was no way the guy could see him. With a visual advantage to some regard, Taiga could see through the blood mist enough to discern that his general shape had changed- particularly his head. Like a bird of prey Taiga kept moving, this time slightly to the side as if heading for the smoke as he utilized his perception to make out movement in the bloodmist, first by Shinji, then by something smaller that moved fast. The shape's trajectory also meant it was coming for him.

Without moments waste the beads on Taiga's wrist seemed to suddenly sink into his body as his whole body became one solid mass indistinguishable from the stone or metal or raw materials themselves. No heartbeat, no flowing blood, nothing.

Could ghosts be heard? Which animal was this guy now? Did he have echolocation or something? Did this guy like sleeping with goats?

So many damn questions.

And just like that, as if he had ceased to exist he fell into the earth deep into the ground. He'd make two clones and send one to the middle of the smoke, while he himself moved further underground, moving through like literal nothingness, but feeling for the pressure on the ground above him until he knew he would be below Shinji.

His third clone, would position itself off to the right of everything, not really obscured by any smokes or blood mist, at the edge of the arena. In total, they would nealry form a triangle around Shinji.

All passive stuff from last post is still active- including tail wind.

[Composite Assimilation]
B-Rank Stance Taijutsu
After making contact with an eligible piece of solid matter, Taiga will utilize his Genma abilities to assimilate multiple materials at once, or add more materials to his current assimilation, allowing his body to become a composite of the multiple materials at once. After assimilation he is able to "phase through" or "merge through" objects matching the materials he has assimilated. This technique must be used with a discipline for the appropriate material he is merging with.

Phantom Sensory
C-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Through training Taiga has gained the ability when merged with something to feel the things one would feel on their own back or body: points of pressure, force, and temperature through the object. This is like a second-nature for him. An example of usage being feeling vibrations to a point where based on the weight and distribution of pressure, he could differentiate a dog from a human on a surface. Taiga can spread his sense of touch (feel) through a variety of objects or surfaces when merged. The range of this technique is limited to the size of the object or surface he has merged with. Damage to a surface will not cause damage to Taiga as the sensations are not 1:1.

[Material Design]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
Assuming Taiga has assimilated his arms into some sort of material, Taiga will channel into it causing it to form into a full clone of himself. The clone has the properties of its base material and is also capable of utilizing the material manipulation jutsu Taiga has.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Fri Aug 13, 2021 12:51 pm

Shinjiro found himself suddenly alarmed when Taiga's heartbeat stopped. His arrow clattered to the ground without a target for him to direct it towards. Naturally, with his sight and hearing no longer effective for the moment, Shinji felt it important to move in case there was a counter-attack he couldn't sense. Flapping his wings he dipped a few meters lower, a height of about 8 meters from the ground as he flew in a circle around the arena at about 25 Speed, keeping roughly ten meters from the edges and soaking the entire surface of the arena in his blood. He noticed as he flew through the smoke that it didn't seem to displace yet there remained a consistent 4 meters of visibility, more than enough room to maneuver given his quick reflexes and his memory of the terrain.

After a full pass around the arena and being unable to hear or feel any sign of his opponent, even the slightest movement it seemed apparent that his opponent had done what he was most known for, phasing tracelessly into the ground. 'This could be problematic...' Shinjiro considered. He didn't want to leave himself exposed to whatever trap his opponent was surely setting up for him should he land and enter his playing field but at the same time it wasn't in his nature to simply stall and do nothing. If it were a real fight he would retreat at this point and pass on intel to someone more suited to fight this opponent. Given it was a tournament however he owed it to his village to take some risks and learn more about this opponents limitations as well as the full scope of their abilities.

There were two things he could try, flying to the center of the arena Shinjiro glowed with chakra as he ascended to a height of 30 meters, entering his genma state as his body was enveloped in green chakra, his hair lengthened and twisted into braids and a bird-like mask of chakra covered his head. Accelerating at his full speed he moved only a few meters before transforming into a massive black turtle and slamming the ground with immense force, enough to completely destroy the ground below him and with any luck knock his opponent out.
Jutsu UsedShow
Shadow Step
S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite:[Stealth]
Trained in the ways of an Assassin, silent movement is one of the Karagata families most esteemed talents. Shinjiro can move up to his full speed, running or flying without making a sound, be it footsteps, breathing, the drawing of weapons and movement of clothes. Even his heartbeat is slow and undetectable unless an opponent has an enhanced hearing technique of equivalent or higher rank.

[Vibration Sense]
S-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception]
Becoming finely attuned with his sense of touch and even his ability to hear low frequencies Shinji had developed the ability to feel vibrations extremely acutely. He can detect the slightest movements within a 15-meter radius of himself through solid surfaces, 25 meters if standing on water or within mist or rain and a 10-meter radius from the air itself. From this he can detect the size anything moving around him and their direction as well as approximate weight. This is only effective on moving targets.

Genbu
A-Ranked Kaerujutsu
Prerequisite: Form 2
Having entered the second form, Shinji can transform himself into am enormous black turtle. With a height of 25 meters, a width of 30 meters and a length of 35 meters the creature is truly a sight to behold. Short, wide blades line the back of the creature’s shell and similarly its swimming arms are dense and sharp. In this form Shinji can move much more easily in the water than on land, traversing the seas and wreaking havok. The mouth of the black turtle is beaked and dense enough to crush through stone and wood alike while being large enough to easily bite a man in half or swallow him whole. The durability of its shell is equal to Shinji’s Strength. In this form Shinji gains +10 Strength, +10 Endurance, +1 Speed at the cost of -6 Willpower, -3 Control, -3 Chakra Pool.

Totem Style • Body Slam
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 35 Strength
Often utilizing the size or strength of one of his larger transformations Shinjiro will propel his body upwards and then slam down with all of his might causing large scale damage around him. Shockwaves equal to 4/5’s of the user's Strength will emanate in a 100 meter radius causing a pressure blast that can also create earthquakes, cave-ins or tidal waves depending on the terrain, which carries the same strength of the shockwave, delivering damage on a large scale.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Sun Aug 15, 2021 5:23 am

Taiga and his clones kept falling deeper into the earth before finally stopping to prepare for their attack. The truth of the matter was Taiga was deeply outgunned. His only chance of taking Shinji required him to get very up close and personal. At that range, he could potentially land a winning blow... But at the same time against such pure offensive power, direct confrontation was a dangerous risk. Sankaton and fatal stuff like that couldn't be used either. It was something that could truly go 50/50, and Taiga wasn't really interested in gambling with a guy who seemed to drink poison for breakfast.

If he was to hide out the rest of the fight in the ground this would go nowhere. Taiga's memories flashed back into his head- the times he had impulsively ignored his squad leaders orders, jumped out into danger, and somehow managed to win against the odds. He'd always been a wild bull and now wasn't the time to change that. After all, no one died in the tourney, so if there was ever a time to go all out it was now. Taiga began hand seals, channeling into his hands.

The clones would begin to move from their deep position close towards the centers, but still far enough to make a triangle radius of sorts.

Taiga could feel movement above- it wasn't very specific, but he could feel pressure shifting on the surface as Shinjiro circled around the map- the pressure created by flapping wings which displaced air, which in turn hit the surface of the ground. Then things suddenly got quiet. The next thing he knew there was a massive, incredible jolt of energy as the ground shook. The sand that surrounded the battle arena likely stopped the earthquake-like effect from taking down the stadium, but it truly would have dented the ground quite a bit, but not as much as one would expect. Blunt damage tended not to go so deep into the earth, especially not to the depths he had hidden at.

Taiga and his clones would remain unphased on account of that as long as they were submerged into the earth, they were like ghosts. Earth moved through them freely and they through earth- so any shaking or moving or anything wouldn't really affect him. Where it was utterly effective however was Taiga gripped his head, almost as if he had a headache. Realistically he felt no pain or damage or anything, but his phantom sensory had gone haywire. With the entirety of the arena ground shaking, he lost the ability to pinpoint exactly what was going on above, at least momentarily till the shakes become less severe and he could adept to the pattern.

Without his sensory, what was happening up on the surface? The epicenter of the shakes and impact came from the center. Just what did it mean exactly? Was Shinji in the center? Did he throw something or just launch an attack there? Whether Shinji knew it or not, he had just prevented Taiga from having the outright advantage.

The only choice was to send up a clone. From the edge of the arena, a certain clone would dash up full speed, emerging out of the ground. Taiga and the other clone would meanwhile create two bombs at the center, pushing them closer to the surface of the still shaking land.

Man, this reminds me I am way better at taking out tons of soldiers than 1 on 1 combat aren't I.

[Chakra Bombs]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After phasing a body part into a material and channeling into it, Taiga will channel raw chakra into the object infusing it with explosive energy equal to [Control]. If the object is kai'd within [Control]/5 posts it will explode, releasing its inner force.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Mon Aug 16, 2021 3:40 pm

It was hard to believe that anything could survive the 44 Strength shockwaves that penetrated deep into the ground or the 55 Strength direct impact on anything near the surface. Whatever his opponent’s ability it seemed to grant him immunity to physical damage, at the very least while he was phased into a substance. It seemed therefore impossible to defeat someone like that, he could simply stall or lay traps at his leisure and there was nothing one could do to stop him. For someone that relied heavily on physical damage and high-speed offensive prowess, Shinjiro was not accustomed to prolonged battles, typically retreating if he determined he couldn’t kill an opponent within the first few minutes of combat.

Against Taiga, for the first time since he was a young child, he felt truly powerless. The man had emerged from the ground seemingly completely unscathed. The poisonous smoke had all been pushed to the edges of the arena, mixing together and swirling around a few meters from the wall. And similarly, when he transformed his blood aura had dissipated though the entire ground and even the walls of the arena was soaked in his poisonous blood. Against most opponents it would be a death trap, though Taiga once again seemed to defy traditional means of inflicting damage. While taking on the form of stone he enjoyed all the advantages of a rigid, inhuman body with seemingly no drawbacks.

All he could do was hope that he could at least sustain damage when he was out of the earth, though he had already displayed the ability to quickly merge again on a whim or simply change his structure to something else. Surely there were some types of elemental ninjutsu he couldn’t defend against or merge with though that was of little help to a taijutsu specialist such as Shinji. Nonetheless, his pride wouldn’t allow him to surrender, he would continue to explore options to combat this master of damage resistance. Green chakra flared for a moment as he transformed now into a large grizzly bear. He would need to improve his own defenses, perhaps there was a limit to the number of types of materials the man could assimilate. There had to be something he could exploit. Growing an additional layer of protection, a black tortoise shell grew around him, likewise, his joints mutated so that he could retract them if needed.

The persistent fog of the genjutsu was proving to be an irritant, though he couldn’t exactly form hand seals to kai out of it while in his animal transformations and pain wasn’t an option he could utilize. Still, he had sworn that he had felt something emerge from vibrations in the air as well as the liquid surface of blood they now stood on, though the shaking had similarly made it difficult for him to be certain. Nonetheless, he was confident his opponent hadn’t been bested yet. “Come on and fight me then!” he roared out, dashing toward the clone on the surface the second he felt him move or heard him speak. Growling lowly as he charged, he would attempt to draw his opponents attention on him and aim for a tackling charge, grabbing around him and crushing his torso as he lifted him off the ground before slamming him to the ground. Though the real attack was in fact the arrow that had been left near the outskirts of the arena after its initial linear launch. He had yet to show its ability to be controlled freely or how it worked exactly, and now it would spring to life, zipping through the air at a staggering speed and aiming to pierce straight through the clone’s chest from behind. Even if Shinji was in close proximity to the clone at the time the arrow would stop precisely before striking Shinji himself. Surely, he wouldn’t be able to account for the metal substance when fighting an opponent purely of flesh and bone. Of course, Shinji had no way of knowing this individual was nothing but a clone.
Jutsu UsedShow

Grizzly Bear
B-Ranked Kaerujutsu
Prerequisite: Form 2
Once in at least the second form Shinji can transform himself into a large grizzly bear. In this form he stands 5 meters tall on his hind legs or 3 meters at the shoulder when on all fours and Weighs in at just over 700kg. This transformation grants Shinji +10 Strength, +5 Speed.

Armored
C-Ranked Partial Kaerujutsu
Prerequisite: Form 2
This transformation allows Shinjiro to manifest a black turtle-like shell around his torso, protecting his stomach, chest, back and even his shoulders, thighs and neck. This shell acts much like a suit of armor although it is physically a part of him, bonding with his skin, manifesting beneath the swords worn on his back. He can even retract his limbs and head into the fleshy space inside the shell. The strength of the shell is equal to that of Shinjiro’s Strength.

*[Totem Style • Bear's Endurance]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisite: [Rigid Structure]
The user takes a stable stance with their arms wide and their legs slightly past their shoulders. They are turned slightly so either shoulder is facing their opponent. This stance offensively emphasizes powerful sweeping blows that are designed to break bones and cause great damage while defensively the stance focuses on resilience and forcing through to cause your own strikes to land through theirs.

*[Totem Style • Bear's Slam]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: [Rigid Structure], *Totem Style • Bear's Endurance
The user charges forward in a surge of speed for momentum. When able they will bring both arms around in powerful slams to either side of their target's body. From here they will lift them up over their head before coming back down in a powerful slam against the ground.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:14 pm

Beneath the ground smoke would begin to form around Taiga as he went up in form, black insect-like wings made of smoke forming around him. One of his clones would carry his bombs- the payloads over, dragging them through the earth ghosted as an extension of themselves. The clone would plot them underneath the above-ground clone, or where about, and the bear's position before retreating to the far side of the ring. Likewise, Taiga also would have migrated to get into a position in the aream while performing handseals.

The clone wasn't totally unprepared for the bears' attack, seeing it before he would see him, albeit the bear sensed him earlier. The thing was though, Taiga was quite fast. A slippery snake really. Throughout most of the war, he had never really fought so much as caused an insane headache logistically for enemies, be it sabotage or just popping all around and drawing attention so that his teammates could do more important things while the enemy was distracted.

Adding to that, no matter how many defenses or weapons Shinjiro conjured, he was the body genma, and unfortunately, all of those things were ultimately flesh in the end. The very first thing above-ground Taiga clone would do as was channel into his leg as he dipped his toes into the ground, making the earth mainly behind him, and just before him hollowed, followed by utilizing all of his speed to swirl a ball of wind in his hand. This was the taijutsu someone of legendary speed and strength could do, and eventually, he had a one foot disc of air.

He wasn't sure it would do much against the now turtle-bear-man-whatever it was rushing at him, but hey, damage was damage. As the bear came down on him he'd let out a "fuck me" as first, the ground would collapse under the bear, then him, as they both would fall. This would likely mess up the arrow's trajectory too and require some adjusting from Shinjiro, who already had to focus on clobbering his prey. As they fell, Taiga would aim the air sphere into whatever area he could, preference to arms but most likely the shell, given the biggest target was its torso. Meanwhile, the real Taiga would launch up through the air and through the bear, or rather into the bear during the surprise fall and strike from his clone.

He would do this with all his speed and the sheer moment and opening he had hopefully produced- especially given the bear knew not of any clones. As he did this, he had to wonder to himself if his Genjutsu would even be useful at this point- given he was sure his opponent realize that the smoke was by now. Maybe he could just kai out? Only one way to see... if that didn't work he could just keep flying up, up and away and explode the bombs too. Many options.

[The Floor is Lava]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After phasing a body part into a material and channeling into it, Taiga will manipulate the source material and hollow out a 9 meter radius pit beneath the surface. The top few centimeters of the pit however will be left untouched however in a very brittle strength, with roughly 1 strength of durability.

Konoha no Senken • Taiga no Rasengan
A-Rank Maneuver Taijutsu
Required: [Heavenly Body Control]
After seeing Fanho use the legendary Rasengan, Taiga combined what he saw with his training in heavenly taijutsu from Sunagakure's monk bannin to create his own unique taijutsu-based version. By holding out one palm, Taiga will rotate his other hand around the open palm at super-human level speeds. This will cause a small tornado to form in the palm of his hand. Continuing on a little while longer will cause the tornado to stabilize into a spinning, spherical disc of air in his palm, roughly 1 foot in diameter. When slammed into a target, this spherical disc of air releases it's force outward from his palm at a strength equal to Taiga's [Speed]. The end effect is a jarring hit to the opponent which not only causes intense physical damage, but if more powerful than the opponent, will send them spiraling through the air for 5 meters for every point of strength difference. If a post passes with Taiga not continuing to spin the sphere, it will fade.

Additional Effect: If Taiga has a fully charged Tailwind he can release that energy along with the sphere, adding to it's strength and also allowing it to release slicing winds into the opponent, leaving a myriad of shallow bruises and cuts all over an opponent. While these cuts are weak, the sheer number of them can lead to a decent loss of blood if untreated.

IN GENERAL: just to keep abreast of the stances/disciplines
--> Flesh, Earthern materials, Metal

Konoha no Senken • Dance of the Falling Leaf/b]
B-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
The only limit to the speed of which Taiga control his body, via rapid acceleration or assimilation, is the speed in which his mind can physically send the impulse to his body to do so. With Taiga's high body control, he has trained and honed his mind and body to be as one, capable of reacting near the speed of thought in terms of controlling himself. This allows him to create interesting attacks by rapidly changing his movement patterns while fighting.

REAL TAIGA:
Konoha no Senken • The True Flying Swallow
A-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
The wings provided to Taiga in his later Genma forms have become extensions of his own body, and allow him to take flight. Taiga is easily capable of moving them as if they had always been there, using them to gain altitude and glide upon the winds like a bird would.

[Genjutsu • Pacification]
A-Ranked Status Genjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals Taiga will attempt to phase through someone triggering this genjutsu. For the next 4 posts the effected will feel extreme remorse or doubt about harming Taiga. This doubt can cause effected individuals to stop mid-attack each time often questioning why they are even fighting.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Wed Aug 18, 2021 11:06 pm

As Shinjiro charged forward he felt the disturbances around him, something shifting in the ground and swirling of a surely powerful technique mustered by his opponent. He had known all along that being on the ground was dangerous, that his opponent surely had more than just hiding in mind. There was some kind of trap lying in wait for him that would soon come to fruition. He had no idea what it was exactly but he wanted his opponent to commit, he had prepared physical defenses to protect against a direct attack but he had to assume his enemy would find some way to deal with that, some sort of elemental jutsu or phasing skill most likely. Whatever it was, it seemed time to utilize one of his most powerful techniques. The first step was mobility, spawning his wings forth once more as naturally as flexing one's muscles.

Now it was just a matter of timing. His arrow streaked through the air towards them. That was the first layer to his surprise attack, in fact, he didn’t intend to actually strike the man directly at all, but he had to make it seem like he would. He hoped his opponent wouldn’t be prepared for the metal arrow. Though more important was getting himself to safety and utilizing the third layer to his attack and the most potent. He had saved this move for an opportune time, and this might just be it. Even if his opponent was only a clone it would hopefully destroy it and take out a large chunk of the enemy’s chakra while also propelling him back to the perceived safety of the air. As he stepped on the area of weakened ground, which he assumed might be an attack of some kind, his wings flexed and pushed off the ground with all his might, a strenuous technique but effective. He fell maybe only a few inches, relenting active control of his arrow and sending it on a straight path of the trajectory where Taiga’s clone’s chest had been before falling. It would move at its full 50 speed and likely pass through some part of his opponent, though Shinjiro wouldn’t stick around long enough to determine how effective it was. Dashing upward in an essentially instantaneous movement to a height of 15 meters he slashed downward, torquing his body with all his might and unleashing 55 Strength and Speed winds that would obliterate everything beneath him and even radiate all around him in case Taiga somehow managed to get above or behind him.

From his position above Shinjiro would brace expecting some kind of explosion or counterattack from whatever his opponent had been intending to hit him with. With the swirling winds and the persistent genjutsu he couldn’t detect specifics about what would happen below him but whatever senses he could rely on and his own exceptional combat instincts would be on high alert though he felt confident he was fairly well protected within the swirling winds and as soon as they dispersed he would once more be able to feel vibrations around him again.

Wind Dragon Tempest
S-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 40 Strength, 40 Speed, [Sword Weapons]/i], [Heavenly Body Control]
Sighting in a target Shinji will tense his muscles before making an instantaneous dash, propelling himself up to a distance of 50 meters. This movement is so fast that it takes up one of the two allotted teleportation’s per thread. Shinji will follow up this dash with a slashing strike with so much speed and force that a tornado of cutting winds forms around him, delivering multiple cuts moving and striking with a Speed and Strength equal to Shinji’s Strength stat. These winds travel outward to a radius of 35 meters.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:36 pm

Things were going according to the plan for the most part... until they weren't. It seemed like him his opponent had some uncanny sense of the ground- and he had felt the disturbance that took place in moving the earth and hollowing it out. The good news, however, was that Taiga knew the moment the bear's feet left the ground to pull off his attack, something was coming. He also trusted his clone though to handle things.

As Taiga hurdled up full speed and kept on his trajectory, the clone heard something cutting through the wind- the whistling of an arrow. The beads on his wrist phased into it momentarily as he changed his composition one final time, becoming that of mainly clay and earth, in an attempt to be as enduring, sticky, and dense as he could be. As he began to fall he would enact the final gestures of an otherwise short-lived life.

He moved his hand into his own chest, adding more mass and channeling to reinforce the strength of his body, while his other hand spun the rasengan in it. Now falling, it wasn't long before an arrow pierced him. Given the timing was also when Shinji was executing his heavenly move- he would be unable to control the arrow at that precise moment, as everything fell into place.

That arrow was a real pest.

He was now ultra-dense and had a material advantage in slowing down the arrow- and he also began to channel into his body reinforcing it even more, only to slam his rasengan hand into his chest (50 strength), damaging the arrow and destroying himself only for the immediate wind to follow from Shinji (55 strength) that completely obliterated the clone, the arrow, and everything in the area.

Dust and dirt would fill the arena, a massive crater left.

Taiga's tailwind (55 strength) would effectively tank the wind of Shinji, being completely spent and disappearing as Taiga continued his trajectory up right into Shinji, in his state of pause, and likely sail right through and into him using his genjutsu had had previously prepared. He wouldn't stop there however, and once inside Shinji he would take control (see ability).

Between the pacification effects of his Genjutsu, should it work, and his ability to possess others, the battle would likely be over.

Clone will still use Rasengan as planned from the previous post; Same for genjutsu on real taiga.

Assuming Taiga has assimilated his arms into some sort of material, Taiga will channel chakra into his arms and reinforce the material as desired to [Control] strength allowing him to make what was old new again!

Damage to a surface will not cause damage to Taiga as the sensations are not 1:1.

Taiga is the first documented host to master his bond with the ghost Phantom Beast, the Deigenma. Prolonged usage and exposure has effected his body and tenketsu in many ways, however perhaps the pinnacle of the side-effect abilities one can receive from the Deigenma is it's ability to possess objects or even people. After phasing into someone or something, Taiga will exert a special type of chakra out of his body, allowing his otherwise intangible form to interact with the insides of the his host. From this state, if his [Mastery] is greater than the opponents [Control] they will not be able to resist his powerful chakra and he will be able to completely control the body of the person he entered and even manipulate their hands to form seals for jutsu- assuming he knows seals. If his stats are weaker, but within 5 of the opponent, he can cause up to 2 minor disturbances per post such as flicking their wrist, shutting their mouth mid-sentence, or twitching their foot, but nothing more than that. The maximum duration of a possession can be held for 5 posts, + 1 post for every point Taiga has over his opponent, up to maximum of 9 posts.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:53 pm

The explosions rang out and Malevolence was cast aside, cracked and tattered the legendary arrow would eventually repair itself, usually taking no more than day but for the purpose of this match, it was out of commission. At least the clone was destroyed, quickly realizing it as such when a second Taiga emerged from the ground, this one bearing ethereal wings and other genma features, suggesting it was in fact the real one. Unfortunately, with his opponent's sheer speed and the fact that Shinjiro had needed a moment to collect himself as exhaustion took its toll on his body, Taiga was able to propel himself straight into his body.

Perhaps surprisingly it was not an unfamiliar feeling in the least for someone else to share his body. Maido had become quite a frequent visitor within him. The sudden feeling that accompanied him however, the lack of desire to fight, was quickly explained by Vorashu whom, was quite displeased as Suikairaa invading his host. ‘Genjutsu you idiot. Get out!’ Vorashu roared, his thoughts surely being able to communicate with the other Genma whose seal now overlapped his own. He wasn’t sure how Taiga’s possession worked, whether he could resist it with physical strength, or it was a battle purely of control over chakra but try as he might he would form a seal, or even half-seal. Whatever he could manage to initiate the Kai technique. Fortunately for him the Konoha shinobi’s previous weak genjutsu still flowed through his body, making it quite easy to purge the additional chakra. Though even if he managed that, there was still the matter of Taiga being inside him, and if he couldn’t control his movements properly that would pose a challenge. He surmised he could still use his Genma abilities however, Taiga had to exist in some physical space, it was impossible to be both tangible and intangible at the same time. If he shrunk himself down to the size of a fly that might just crush his opponent or at the very least force him out of his body. There was also the matter of the poisons that ran through his body. Merging with his blood would succumb Taiga with paralysis and his tissues might not affect him if this state but if they did the poison would seep into whatever form of substance he had and when he regained his body properly his organs would begin to be eaten away from the inside whenever he manifested them again.

His tricks might have worked on the vast majority of shinobi, but Shinjiro was not called the host of the Body genma for nothing. It was his body and within it was his domain. Taiga would likely not find victory here as easily as he might have thought. Still, Shinjiro was feeling the pinch of desperation. His body was quite strained and damaged despite not being able to register the pain properly and his chakra levels and physical stamina as well were quite low. Those heavenly taijutsu moves were not something he used lightly and they came with a heavy price. Even if he managed to paralyze Taiga and expel him from his body it seemed likely he wouldn’t be able to finish him off given his ability to simply merge with the ground again, though 15 meters in the air there might be an opportunity to make an attack. Most likely though the best he could hope for was lasting long enough to make it to a decision. While he did all of this he switched the gaseous poison in his lungs, first allowing the Deaths Breath to interact with Taiga before Chakra Bane was created and manifested within his lungs.
Jutsu UsedShow
Kai (breaking free of the D-rank which also expels the A-rank, only requires 5 Control and 40 Willpower which Shinjiro meets)

Shinigami’s Curse
After undergoing an extensive procedure procured in the Black Market districts of Rice Country, Shinjiro has had his body altered significantly. This change is entirely internal and reflects his ability to absorb and store poison within every component of his body as well as release a poisonous breath attack that is expelled at a speed equal to his strength and can travel up to 15 meters before expanding into a cloud of poison that stretches to Controlx2= meters in diameter. Shinjiro can absorb poisons into his body, able to inhale an entire cloud of poison or suck up a liquid poison or even draw it into his skin or bloodstream, preventing the further spread of poison to those who might have been affected. These poisons can then be stored within his own body, able to be kept in a neutral state or weaponized. He can store a maximum number of poisons equal to his Endurance stat within his body. Shinji can neutralize any number of his weaponized poisons over the course of a full post. Similarly, it takes a full post to switch a poison with another or weaponize a poison after being neutralized. Only one poison can be switched or re-weaponized at a time. Poisons do not have to be neutralized first before switching out for another. Only one of each type of poison may be active at a time; ingestion poisons saturating his flesh, tissues, and organs. Coating poisons are weaponized within his blood and other bodily fluids such as saliva and sweat and lastly a gas poison can be weaponized in the form of his breath attack. Unless otherwise stated it should be assumed that [Reaper's Flesh], [Death's Breath], and [Shinigami's Kiss] are active throughout his body. While he may only have one of each type weaponized at a time he can store a new poison until the end of the thread it's absorbed in unless it is purchased normally and added to the character sheet.

[Shinigami’s Kiss] (Four 250ml bottles)
A-Rank Coating Poison
A poison utilized by Shinjiro in order to render his victim's helpless, paralyzed from the neck down. In its original state this thick poison has a grey coloration though when infused in Shinjiro’s body it can be applied from any of his bodily fluids including his blood, saliva or sweat. Just a few drops introduced to the victim's system via entry though skin contact, blood stream or mucous membrane is enough for the poison to begin taking effect. It will begin as a slight tingling sensation in the area surrounding the entry point of the poison, before developing into full blown paresthesia of the entire body before the paralysis sets in. Once the paralysis is in place, it will prevent the victim from controlling their conscious motor functions. They will still be able to breath, their heart will continue to function as normal, but they will have no conscious control over their body. The only part not affected is their ability to move their eyes, slightly turn their head, and their ability to speak.
• Onset Time: 1 Post after Introduction
• Run Time: 5 Posts
• Effect: Full-Body Paralysis

[Deaths Breath] (5 Cannisters)

Flying Insect
C-Ranked Full Kaerujutsu
Prerequisite: Form 1
This transformation allows Shinjiro to take on the form of a winged insect, typically a fly or flying ant though similar species are also optional. Colorations will match those of the native species, making detection virtually impossible short of chakra sensory. In this form he can slip through cracks most people wouldn’t even notice. +5 Strength, + 10 Endurance
OOC: Surely going to need a mod decision here to determine this unprecedented interaction between their abilities, both Genma and their own bodies. My stance is that since Taiga is becoming physical enough to control Shinji from inside he should therefore be susceptible to the liquid and gaseous poison inside Shinji. Furthermore, that condensing his size, given his superior strength and Endurance over both of Taiga’s respective stats in addition to his chakra Control should be able to force him out of his body or at the very least Taiga shouldn’t be able to shrink with him. Of course, if Shinji isn’t able to use his transformation then Taiga would simply be subject to the poisons and it would be a stalemate as Taiga is paralyzed inside of Shinji and Shinji cant control his body.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Sun Aug 22, 2021 3:23 am

OOC:

When I assimilate with something I take on ALL of its properties. If the flesh of Shinji is immune, and there is an assimilation/merging on entry, I'd be immune too. Beyond flavor text, it's very clear in the wording of it: "Allowing them to take on the properties, or and phase through solid materials."

As for the ability- as I mentioned in chat I think mastery is a no-go, but it should be Control v Control. Taiga's a ghost for all effects and purposes, you can't really push a ghost out with strength. The idea here is that chakra/energy blocks his abilities, so with control, you are effectively "flushing him out of your body". That's why it should be Control vs Control, cause its whether or not you can use your Tenketsu to eject him.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Ace Trainer » Thu Aug 26, 2021 3:29 pm

[Sorry this took so long guys, Naf, Rain and I kept missing each other so a 5 minute conversation got stretched over 3 days

So, staff agrees Taiga's control should be used in lieu of the MAstery stat for this purpose. Hayate, when you update it, however, the consensus seemed to be that it would be more appropriate to be control vs Wp/Strength (whichever you prefer) so something to keep in mind. However, that part of the ability isn't under scrutiny here, so we agreed it should remain control in this context. So Control vs Control.
Shinji loses that fight, which means we move on to;

The poison being activated. Based off of the current body snatching stuff in existence, it was established Taiga would inherit the immunity to poison from Shinji. The logic being that if Taiga took control of someone with 4 arms, he'd reasonably be able to control all 4 arms.

However, nothing about Taiga's ability can stop the host from channeling (this remains true for other body snatching, except Yamanaka, which is subject to other limitations other forms of body snatching - to include this ability - don't have). As Shinji channels to transform, Shinji should be able to turn into a fly and flit off from Taiga. As Taiga has no mechanism to change shape, he has no way of remaining in control of Shinji's body.

So to be clear; Taiga is not poisoned, however Shinji was able to transform.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Thu Aug 26, 2021 8:55 pm

OOC:
If transforming is similar to a taijutsu, I don't get how he can transform when he can't fully move himself- he wouldn't be able to move no?
Also, even if he is a fly, we'd still be merged together? Flies are smaller than humans, volume wise that fly is inside taiga, and for all intents and purposes he is ins)ide the fly. We're still merged for all intents and purposes? (assimilated with something is a boolean- its yes or no. We are either touching and intersecting or not, no?

[Transforming is Kaerujutsu which would at best be approximated to nintai, but regardless, yeah, nothing in your ability seems to suggest it can stop him from manipulating in chakra in order to facilitate a transformation. As it was said, Taiga can't change shape, meaning when Shinjiro is no longer human sized, so Taiga loses the ability to take control of his body. ]

[OOC: Whether he's a fly or a human we're still overlapping- in fact he's completely engulfed in me. The merge/phase mechanism is still happening. I fail to see how I have no ability to exert force on him- likewise its a control throw thing, so if he didn't have the control to stop my takeover, how does he have the control to manipulate his body?]

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Mon Sep 06, 2021 10:33 am

OOCShow
I feel like none of you read his actual ability- actually it's clear since shape has nothing to do with it. If he phases a Kunai he can control it- he doesn't have to be bigger or smaller. "it's ability to possess objects or even people. After phasing into someone or something". But aight, I'll roll with the bad ruling...
Taiga took control of his opponent and quickly went to work. He would capitalize the time his opponent would take to monologue with Vorashu and then work to kai the Genjutsu, and abusing those few seconds of time created he would instantly exert force down, collapsing his opponent's wings, and throwing him hurtling towards the earth. This would make it hard to recover, and if he was really lucky, put his opponent in position for the remaining clone who was now moving his way through the ground towards their air. He would also make sure he had metal in his composite along with the flesh he had.

You won't hold the Body Genma for long- we are in his domain... Sukairaa's voice said chiding Taiga strongly. For a brief moment, Taiga almost thought he heard the roar of something primal in his head, something that felt green as well. and then he would feel the slightest change and movement coming from the body he was merged into. It wasn't just his ability to feel that which he was merged with, but his exceptional perception. Vibrations, the smallest changes in the air, nothing really escaped him. And as such, he was quick to move.

e would feel the very start of his opponent shrinking and he would, like a bird of prey, keep his senses fixed on his opponent and advance/follow his opponent so that his center stayed with Taiga's own. The movement was fluid, smooth, and much like a swallow. This would ensure they stayed merged, even if he had lost control. Taiga's wings only further enhancing the bird of prey imagery as they flapped and readjusted to keep his move constant with his opponent. At the final moment his opponent would clear to the end of his body, he would cull any flesh and become metal, stopping any phasing or merging that was happening.

And with his prey marked, Taiga would clap his hands at full speed on the fly, while also clasping them- not only smashing the fly but making sure if it was durable enough to survive he would hold it in his hands. He really hoped he didn't kill Shinjiro doing this- but he figured the body genma still had insane durability even if he became a fly.

When a fly fought a bird, it rarely ended well.

USEDShow

Konoha no Senken • Tempo
D-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Drawing it's inspiration from the famed ever advancing movement of Konoha's Gouken, Konoha no Senken practitioners ingrain in-themselves a way of positioning and moving their body that constantly advances upon the opponent, allowing attack after attack fluidly and giving the opponent little option to flee. Practitioners are ultimately capable of using this way of advancing on their opponent to control the tempo of the battle and move it where they desire, causing interruption to opponent defensive stances.

reminder of boosts: +8 Chakra Pool, +7 Speed, +5 Strength, +5 Control (Speed 55)

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Fri Sep 17, 2021 12:29 pm

Shinjiro hurtled toward the ground as Taiga collapsed his wings. Though as he transformed he was able to break free of Taiga's control over him and even manage to slip out from his body, whether Taiga had allowed this or it was a linitation of his ability was hard to say but either way he didn't make it very far before the fellow Jinchurriki slammed his hands over him. Taiga's exceptional perception, bodily control and speed simply made ut impossible to avoid him.

However, despite his small size, Shinjiro had strengthened himself remarkably well, ensuring that he wouldn't made himself vulnerable in this form, even at the cost of sacrificing some speed. He could feel he was nearing the limit of his ability to draw on Vorashu's chakra to enhance his own body. But while it lasted for a few moments longer he was still notably stronger than his opponent, and would surely be able to squeeze out from between his fingers or even his palms with sheer force. Despite his body being more durable than the force inflicted on him however he would still suffer damage and aching soreness throughout his body that would persist through any transformations.

As he squirmed his way out of Taiga's hands his body glowed with green chakra briefly, but instead of transforming he let out a whistle that would join the sounds of his buzzing as he squirmed and struggled his way out. This would hopefully serve as enough of a distraction as a bolt of lightning would appear to be launched at Taiga from above, hopefully causing him to focus on evasion rather than once more trapping Shinji. Being a genjutsu the lightning would not actually be able to be avoided and would target the man's hands enough to numb them and further decrease his ability to utilize them for dexterous actions.

From there Shinjiro would attempt to make some distance from Taiga and his clone if he was visible before transforming back into his human form, drawing both his swords swiflty and entering a Zantou stance even while still in the air. He knew Taiga would likely attempt to phase with him again, it was even likely he could merge with his swords despite their special abilities but he would at least put up a fight and deter him the best he could. Perhaps knowing he could simply turn back into a fly again would give Taiga reason to try a different tactic. Exhaling another cloud of blue poison if Taiga became part flesh again he would at least be effected before he was able to make contact with Shinji.
Jutsu UsedShow
[Genjutsu • Shock]
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Shinjiro will channel chakra throughout his body, then make a whistling noise, designed for multiple opponents. Anyone who hears the whistling be affected, If they get within 5 meters of the user they will see a bolt of lightning jolt from the sky into their hands and feel a sudden shocking pain in their hands, typically enough to interrupt hand seals or make them drop whatever they’re holding. This pain and numbness persist for 2 posts.

*[Zantou • Winter Maelstrom]
A-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisite(s): *[Zantou • Winter Blizzard].
Building upon its parent technique, this Stance further builds upon further sharpening and refining the practitioner's capacity to focus on the opponent and the task at hand. Drawing in a deep breath, the practitioner also gathers up their energy and releases a kiai. The level of skill the practitioner has attained allows the practitioner to effectively attack and block from a neutral stance without any detriment. While in this Stance, the practitioner can effortlessly ignore non-critical distractions, focusing solely on the opponent(s). They also are able to ignore extreme heat, extreme cold, moderate oxygen deprivation, extreme fatigue, and even extreme pain. They can read the opponents' muscle contractions and body positioning very accurately in this stance, and they are able to read the direction, the type, the timing, and the speed of an attack that is imminent. The opponent can still effectively mask their movements if they have a movement-concealing Stealth technique of equal or higher rank than this technique. While in this Stance, the practitioner is conferred with a +4 increase to Strength and Will Power but suffers a -4 penalty to Chakra Pool and Control. The practitioner may end this Stance whenever they so wish.

[Chakra Bane]
A-Rank Gas & Coating Poison (5 Cannisters)

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Sat Sep 18, 2021 10:09 am

As Taiga got his hands around the fly, having become metal, he was pushing on his hands with all of his might, attempting to lock them, he would try and injure the fly till it would move no more, but he could not crush it. Taiga would begin channeling right away again into the Cuirass. In fact, the fly had incredible strength. If need be however, Taiga was faster and he would keep re-traping.

If what happened next didn't work, Taiga would not be able to keep his grip on him. As he would squirm against Taiga, Taiga would release electricity through his entire body via the cuirass, releasing a wave of a paralyzing shock that traveled through his body, which acted as a clean circuit/conduit and would pass the electricity through his own body harmlessly right into that of Shinjiro and between his hands, not-so-harmlessly to flesh.

One would think that strength was not linear, and relative to size, but this was clearly not the case for the body Genma. If this didn't work, Taiga was unsure what to do. He was not an offensive fighter and all he could really do is just prove that Shinjiro couldn't take him down, if that meant anything at all.

He would grit his teeth as he channeled into his cuirass once more. He'd keep repeating it like a taser shocking with every damn bit of chakra he could expend and put into it, each time hopefully weakening Shinjiro, interrupting any juts he had planned, and keeping him in his fly form.

Does this make me an electric fly swatter?
SpoilerShow
Cuirass delivers shocking/paralysis electricity with the passive range corresponding to 35 and up control... I think physiology also matters here.

It seemed despite being stronger than his opponent escaping was a futile effort, the speed difference now was too great and even after squirming out initially he was immediately re-captured but at least he had managed to release a burst of his poison, interfering with his opponent's chakra network. And the longer he kept him trapped the longer the cloud of blue poison would continue to reduce his opponent's control and weaken his techniques. Unfortunately, even as he channeled his genjutsu, which he had counted on to act as a distraction his opponent had managed to unleash a powerful, instantaneous jolt of electricity. It surged through his opponent as well of course, begging the question of whether he was immune to electricity while he was made of metal. Perhaps his trick with his illusion wouldn’t e a deterrent after all. But nonetheless it didn’t take long to channel the chakra and even though his body was wracked with pain and paralysis, mentally he was conditioned to withstand such experiences. It was not by any means the first time he had been electrocuted after all, and fortunately that meant he could still channel chakra and even perform transformations, though his actual movements would be prevented.

All he could do now was try to damage his opponent as much as possible while in a prone position as well as create a strong defense for himself and then last until the timer sounded which had to be close by now. Completing his genjutsu he would whistle with the last of his bodily control. In this form it would sound little different from the last moments of buzzing as he convulsed and struggled as the electricity surged through him. Next, he would glow green as a shell formed around him, followed by another surge as spikes protruded all around him, making him a dense spike ball, each spike thin but strong as they launched out with 46 Strength to a full meter in length aiming to impale straight through his opponents hands, fixing them in place and even spearing into Taiga’s chest. The poison would continue to weaken his opponent and if he shocked him again it would be weaker than before though it hardly made a difference. Pain was something he could handle, and it would take more than that to knock him out, and though he couldn’t move he could still show the judges that he was making efforts to fight and wasn’t beaten yet. Though his chakra reserves were dangerously low and his body was wracked with pain and injuries form pushing himself past his limits. These final attacks were ones of desperation but that still counted for something, surely.

A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequitite: [Rigid Structure]
Having grown up exposed to all manner of pain and torture both Shinjiro’s mental tolerance and his pain receptors have been numbed and conditioned to block out pain, allowing him to easily surpass the threshold of most shinobi. He can withstand critical lacerations, burns, fractures, bludgeoning and electrocution without even flinching. This allows him to continue to fight and push through such sensations without impairing his focus. The drawback to such resistance is that he can very easily underestimate how badly he is injured which could lead to potentially fatal consequences. Moreover, breaking genjutsu through pain becomes much more difficult and highly impractical.

Armored (46 Strength)
C-Ranked Partial Kaerujutsu
This transformation allows Shinjiro to manifest a black turtle-like shell around his torso, protecting his stomach, chest, back, and even his shoulders, thighs, and neck. This shell acts much like a suit of armor although it is physically a part of him, bonding with his skin, manifesting beneath the swords worn on his back. He can even retract his limbs and head into the fleshy space inside the shell. The strength of the shell is equal to that of Shinjiro’s Strength.

Spikey Surprise (46 Strength)
C-Ranked Partial Kaerujutsu
Channeling chakra into a part of his body Shinjiro can grow up to a meter long porcupine-like spikes from anywhere on his body. These spikes are only up to 2 inches thick but as sharp and durable as his strength stat and can be used to slice or impale targets in close range or be physically removed to be used as projectiles. Up to 5 spikes can be created at a time.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Sun Sep 19, 2021 12:07 am

OOC complainingShow
I don't get how you can do taijutsu/nintai body transformations that rely on physical stats when you are paralyzed. Transforming is an active nintai thing and if you cant move your body to do the tai part I don't get how it would work...

Again, also not sure how the genjutsu got off, I feel my lightning is faster and would interrupt casting, though I guess I'll roll with it to finish the thread.
Taiga's paralysis would stick and it would seem the fly went limp, not before lightning struck him too. The odd thing about his opponents lightning was he felt it in fact, his hands were going a little numb. How was he going numb from lightning in metal? Given his own Genjutsu prowess, it was clear it was a Genjutsu. He was nearly going to move to dispel it when Sukairaa called out Just ignore the genjutsu boy. Without wasting any more time he began to channel into his cuirass, but this time changed the orb to that of Sankaton. He was going to end this fight.

Suddenly air and flashing green glowing came from inside his hands as his opponent, though limp, must have begun another transformation. Taiga bit his lip as he instantly pulled his hands back and out to avoid damage, something he could do given the huge difference in speed between the two. If his perception had been any worse and his speed any less, his hands would have been skewered.

That said, there were spikes now shooting for his torso. Biting his lip still he would flap his wings and position himself so that he would "push through" the spikes with his torso, them hitting his cuirass and the sankaton it produced as it would leap out onto the spikes and begin to melt and eat away the organic material. Taiga would, with caution of course, push until he hit the shells melting away everything that contacted as he used his torso as a weapon, and when the sankton was near gone or used he would flap his wings in reverse launching him full force backward and away from his opponent, limp from paralysis, injured, potentially, burned/rusted away, and likely tired.

He would stay at the center of the ring at a high height and let gravity do its work as his opponent fell back to the ground, the left over sankaton not used on quils likely eating at his shell and causing immense pain.

Good thing it should be called soon, I'm starting to get pretty tired.

The clone would also pop up out of wherever it was hiding still and hold to kunai pointed to Shinji at his fallen, paralyzed spot as if to signal "this party's over."

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Izanagi » Sun Sep 19, 2021 12:00 pm

As Shinjiro fell and the Sankaton began eating through his shell he reverted to his true form. the damage was reflected in his cloak being eaten through across his stomach and chest, tattered and falling away from him as he fell, his hood and mask breaking apart as well as the youthful shinobi grimaced in pain. Even for someone of his resistances he had never quite experienced anything like complete disintegration of his muscles. Though he couldn't move his head to look, the flesh across his torso was stripped down to exposed muscle, even the swords across his back had been damaged, their sheaths eaten through at several points and the blades themselves eroded slightly. That had protected his back from damage for the most part at least.

His body screamed in agony and he attempted to will himself to grow wings to at least aid in gliding down even if he couldn't control them, but he simply didn't have the chakra reserves or physical stamina to perform any techniques. Truly he had been pushed to his limit, tearing many of his muscles from physical strain at the cost of his heavenly taijutsu. Even his organs had suffered small tears from pumping his own blood out of himself so forcefully. Even with medical attention he would have to fight his next match in a few days time while suffering from injuries. Impacting the ground hard he landed on his face and chest. It wasn't enough to knock him out, though he found his consciousness fluttering, his awareness just enough to notice the clone emerging to bring a kunai to his neck, though the timer had sounded as he was falling from the sky. The match was over regardless. He had at least managed to go the distance but at great cost to himself. 'Well fought Taiga' he thought, recalling the first time he had met the man years ago when he had given him advice on how to tame the Genma within and master his powers. He still hadn't achieved the level the Jinchuuriki from Konoha had but he would keep working harder and devote himself fully now to mastering the beast within and all the skills it had to offer. He needed every advantage he could get and now it was apparent that his current transformations were not enough. 'Pitiful...to be bested by that fool Suikaira...you don't deserve my power' Vorashu teemed with anger, its pride damaged. 'You will give me more. We will grow stronger together, I won't neglect your power any longer' he vowed. He knew he had only scratched the surface with Vorashu's power. When he returned to Kirigakure it would be time to discover everything he was truly capable of. And he wouldn't rest until he had true mastery over the beast.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Taiga

Post by Taiga » Sun Sep 19, 2021 12:45 pm

It seemed the battle was over and his opponent would submit to the clone's pointed blade. Having caught his breath and let his adrenaline cool off, his wings gave a mighty flap as they carried him back down to earth, the wings and his genma form completely fading as his foot struck the ground and he placed himself opposite his clone. He would bow his head first to his opponent, then to the crowd. It had taken nearly the entire fight but it had begun to dawn on him he had met Shinji in person before- back in Fur Country. The fact he hadn't remembered was almost hilarious- and it also explained why Shinji seemed to know about him to a degree.

To think that they had been snot-nosed brats so many years ago, and now they were the champions of their villages. It was really something.
Don't get so sentimental, he's probably as vile as that asshole Vorashu. Sukairaa said in an angry noise, interrupting Taiga's train of thought. It never surprised him how little the Genma liked each other... it was ironic really. Seemed like any normal big family.

With the match over, Taiga would kneel closer to his opponent grinning ear to ear.

"Heh, you've become quite the shinobi since Fur Country" he said with a grin. "I've always heard so much about you but for some reason, I just put the name to the face now." Taiga scratched his head. "If you ever want to talk, free of villages or anything, let me know. While we are all shinobi you and I are not like the others. We transcend humanity... we have gods inside of us. It makes it a bit hard to be understood by others but, I feel you mate." Taiga would say as he stood back to his feet to walk towards the center of the arena.

"By the way, this makes us even for taking that idiot Zakuro's arm." Taiga said before turning his back and waving to the crowd. Sukairaa's voice cut in.

You were lucky to beat Vorashu- well, you weren't lucky, you had me. It was mostly me." Sukairaa reprimanded, only causing Taiga's smile to get bigger. He didn't know if Vorashu would be able to hear, but he thought'd it be worth a try projecting himself to Shinji and Vorashu.

"Sukairaa was shitting himself at you guys the whole time- he's a big cry baby." he would attempt to say. Sukairaa would angrily deny it of course.

This is a tough one. I feel like this was a really bad matchup for Shinjiro, however, I feel that he actually fought better on average. Not a knock against Jesse, I know it's Taiga's personality.

Anyway, I'm marking the winner as...
SpoilerShow
Sarutobi, Taiga!

Taiga had the advantage especially towards the end (though it was definitely close.) If Taiga wasn't such a shithead, he probably would have paid really passive until the very end, letting Shinjiro wear himself out even more than he was before closing in, though hard to say how Shinji would have reacted.

Good fight from both of you though. Always a pleasure to see two of the best writers on the forum compete.
"It's so sad!" the reader said to the writer with a frown. "The character in my book just died!" The author turned to her and burst out into tears, "I know!" he said, "So did mine!"
