Exhibition: Shinji vs Proximus

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:32 pm

The arena has a 25m radius and is mostly comprised of grass land, trees to provide some shelter and texture to the battlefield. However, 5m from the wall surrounding the entire arena is sandy terrain. The arena is marked by a 20m high wall that is built in the shape of a doughnut, the seats are layered with ten rows running along the whole perimeter of the arena. There is a tower that is supported by pillars and columns above the northers side of the stadium, this is where the representatives of other nations are seated. The participants have the own place to wait until their turn, it is at the bottom section of the wall surrounding the battlefield and has a viewing window that allows the participants to watch fighting that take place. Shinji will begin at the eastern most point, standing directly in front of the sand. Proximus will begin at the western most point, standing directly in front of the sand.

The judges for this bout will be Nu, Sha, and Ji (all judges will be controlled by Onu sicne he's not participating in this event and it will expedite the process (maybe))

First poster has 72 hours to respond, all following posts have 48 hours, with one [1] extension granted upon request. Please ensure you're familiar with the rules for the event. If you're currently in registry, the 72 hours begins once both participants have been approved.

Shinji posts first.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Proximus

Post by Izanagi » Tue Aug 10, 2021 1:54 pm

Shinjiro had seen this man fight against the team of Genin and been left unimpressed. A waste of exceptional physical ability from what he had observed. Nonetheless he respected his opponents sheer strength and speed. It was obvious he had been holding back significantly against the Genin and so he had to assume the man would be able to keep up with him.

Still, the Overseer of the Seven Swordsmen and Jinchuuriki of the hidden mist village would not allow himself to be made a fool of by a mere prisoner. His black sword was coated in his grey liquid, his red in crimson. Knives similarly dipped in red and shuriken in grey. The man's shields were an unorthodox style and not one that Shinjiro believed in. For the purpose of the match against the Genin they served him well but against a skilled swordsman who was also a highly trained assassin they would be a minor deterrant at best.

Striding forward, Shinjiro dug into his cloak and retrieved a pair of relatively small canisters. Moving into a jog he advanced at 25 Speed, crossing half the distance of the arena before tossing the pair of canisters in such a way that Proximus would find himself within a 20 meter diameter cloud of green 'smoke' that would extend from the wall into the arena. Whether or not Proximus could see him through the poisonous smoke wouldn't matter much as the man suffenly picked up speed, accelerating to his top speed appearing to run straight at his opponent before adjusting at a distance of 5 meters away and dashing to the side of the man where he carried the small buckler.

From there he would lash out with his crimson sword over his left shoulder aiming to cut whatever oppeneing presented itself, content for a shallow strike such as an arm or leg. Then dashing again behind the man and leaving the afterimage of himself in his wake he would aim to slash across his back with his black sword drawn with his right hand. From there he would continue to dash around the man, releasing an unrelenting alternating series of cuts with his two swords as whatever oppeneing presented themselves. He was counting on his opponent being unable to track him between his afterimage 'clones' and the smoke. Given the perameters of the bout he wasn't attacking with lethal intent but even a graze from his red sword would instill the man woth terrible fear and a slice with his black sword would result in agonizing pain.

Deaths Breath] (2 Cannisters)
A-Rank Gas & Coating Poison
This poison affects the victim by being absorbed through the body or being inhaled and absorbed into their bloodstream. Each canister will deploy a 10-meter diameter cloud of light green poison that will linger in the air unless disposed of by some other means. Shinjiro can also infuse this poison as his own breath attack according to his Shinigami’s curse ability. Those affected will find their strength-sapping away as well as suffer from nausea and varying states of delirium with those with less than 20 Endurance barely able to process basic thoughts, vomiting frequently and struggling to walk due to disorientation, 20-30 and they will be disoriented with their vision blurred and balance skewed, mind cloudy. Those with over 30 Endurance will only experience mild dizziness and moderate nausea in addition to the sapping of their strength.
• Onset Time: Immediate
• Run Time: 4 Posts
• Effect: -5 Strength Per Post exposed

Shadow Step
S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite:[Stealth]
Trained in the ways of an Assassin, silent movement is one of the Karagata families most esteemed talents. Shinjiro can move up to his full speed, running or flying without making a sound, be it footsteps, breathing, the drawing of weapons and movement of clothes. Even his heartbeat is slow and undetectable unless an opponent has an enhanced hearing technique of equivalent or higher rank.

Blurred Movement
S-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Speed
Having honed his body to operating at high speeds Shinjiro has developed the ability to blur his movements at will making his fine movements more difficult to determine. If his opponent doesn’t have a perception/motion tracking technique of equal or greater rank then Shinjiro’s actual movements will be invisible to the eye, leaving only an afterimage of himself in his wake that will persist for a full post before fading.

Predators Tracking
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception]
Shinjiro has developed a remarkably keen sense of smell even when not transformed into an animal. He can easily distinguish scents between people as well as pick up on trails that are several days old. His passive range is equal to his Willpower stat though for particularly strong smells such as blood or decay he can detect from a distance of [Willpowerx5] meters away. When in a transformed state of an animal with a strong sense of smell such as a canine the range of his sense of smell is doubled.

[Vibration Sense]
S-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception]
Becoming finely attuned with his sense of touch and even his ability to hear low frequencies Shinji had developed the ability to feel vibrations extremely acutely. He can detect the slightest movements within a 15-meter radius of himself through solid surfaces, 25 meters if standing on water or within mist or rain and a 10-meter radius from the air itself. From this he can detect the size anything moving around him and their direction as well as approximate weight. This is only effective on moving targets.

*[Iaido • Ancestral Visage]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Using Iaido to its fullest requires a keen eye and quick reactions, enabling its users to target weaknesses and openings that their opponents present almost instantaneously. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to attack openings that present themselves, the practitioner now able to reflexively attack an opening in almost the same moment that it is observed. This Discipline reduces the gap of time between a practitioner recognizing a potential opening for attack and launching the attack to exploit said opening to almost nil.

*[Iaido • Spectral Flight]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 15 Strength, 25 Speed, *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].
In order for Iaido to stand toe to toe with a variety of high-level opponents, refining fundamentals to a new height is necessary. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to quickly accelerate to max movement speed and decelerate to a full stop at a moment's notice. This does not offer protection against attacks that the practitioner does not know is coming.

*[Iaido • Sword Spirit Draw]
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Overwhelming the opponent with a literal shower of high-speed slashes, the practitioner torques the muscles in their arm to draw their sword and continue to assault the opponent's defenses with a seemingly unending wave of slashes. By torquing the muscles in the arm and twisting the wrist when changing the direction of the slash, each strike of the sword is as fast as if it had been drawn from its scabbard. This technique can be used while moving, and the practitioner can feint strikes within the flurry to throw the opponent off-guard. This technique can be used for up to three posts.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Proximus

Post by Golnax » Wed Aug 11, 2021 3:26 pm

Between his bout with the genin and now, Proximus had been healed up fully... well, almost. New scars, red and irritated, were present on his body from where he had been injured earlier, left on purpose of course. The samurai guards were quick to remind him that he had, more or less, crossed the line already but would be made to continue his exhibition matches as scheduled before being taken away forever. So he still had some time in the sun, if only to fight in combat. Something else that had been stressed to him was that what he would face next was not some inexperienced genin, but instead highly trained shinobi. He was thus subsequently told that the need to hold back was much less important. Fine by him.

Now that the match was beginning, after his chains had been removed once again, Proximus was eager to get back out in the sun for one of the last times.
phpBB [video] He began in quite the opposite way as he had in his previous bout. Rather than staying put and planting himself firm to let his opponent come to him, the moment that Shinji began to run he would dash forward in a blitz (40 Speed) and come to a sudden halt roughly in the middle of the arena, kicking up a cloud of dust as he did. When Shinji threw his cannisters, Proximus would swing his kite shield wide and upwards, meeting one of the projectiles and sending them flying upwards in the air, rendering it a non-threat. The second would fly past him towards the arena wall behind him and be similarly made a non-threat, at least for the time being.

As Shinjiro picked up speed to further assault his opponent, the Kirigakure genma host might be surprised to find that the iron mask turned to follow along with him as he moved over towards his left side. True he could not hear the man as he moved - even if he could his hearing would be muffled through the mask - but as long as he had a line of sight on him, the giant of a man would not be so far out of his league. As the first slash of his blade came Proximus would meet it with a deft parry from his buckler, followed by an equally quick and powerful thrust from his kite shield in an attempt to knock Shinjiro backwards.

Alas! Proximus was untrained and thus his eyes were not quite sharp enough to notice that what he was trying to push was merely an illusion of the man! The sting of a blade against his back was all the more proof that he had been fooled. However, rather than stay in the spot and allow his opponent to continually circle him, Proximus would again demonstrate his speed (45) and abscond towards the part of the arena that had tree cover. Once there, the masked giant would show his raw strength by reaching out with both arms and grab two separate trees, uprooting them from the arena floor and flinging one of the ten meter tall trees across the arena where Shinjiro had been attacking him with a loud, "RRAGH!" He hurled it as though it were a shuriken, sending the tree spinning at full force! (50 Strength/Speed)

With the other tree he grabbed a hold of it with both hands as though wielding a great sword or club, fingers digging into the comparatively soft wood to further enhance his grip before rushing forth nearly an instant after having thrown the first tree to meet his opponent head on, attempting to swing his improvised weapon and smack into the shinobi like he was trying to hit a baseball! He would do this regardless of how his opponent dealt with the first tree, once more putting all of his strength and speed into the hit to maximize his chances of hitting the man. Should it hit there would echo a thunderous BOOM throughout the arena that would easily be felt by the spectators. Should it miss, the force of his swing would kick up dust and wind to create a small, temporary gale within the arena!

Shinjiro had many tools and advantages over his masked opponent, but the one thing that Proximus perhaps had over him truly was his experience. This fight would not be over as quickly as the young shinobi might have liked!

Exhibition: Shinji vs Proximus

Post by Izanagi » Wed Aug 11, 2021 10:15 pm

Shinjiro had expected his opponent to advance, using his smoke to flush him out, though he had charged in faster than anticipated, even managing to deflect one of the cannisters pre-emptively. No matter, he would meet him in the center of the arena and make his attack. The giant seemed to read his first feint, blocking the strike from the left, ‘Impressive’ Shinjiro noted, it was possible it was an anticipatory reaction, such as the kind he often did through his own exceptional combat experience. So too was it possible the man was actually perceptive enough to track his movements. Whatever the case however Shinjiro would not relent so easily and as he moved again he found the giant this time was baited into attacking the mirage, leaving him exposed for the swift slash across the back with the sword aptly named agony.

Not one to ever lower his guard against an opponent, Shinjiro found himself impressed again and slightly surprised that he was able to endure the agonizing pain of his cursed blade. Though yet again it simply showed some similarity between the two; the first being experience, the second their remarkable conditioning to pain. If they shared a particular third similarity it could mean a potentially problematic opponent for him. The grey poison he had lathered onto Agony would work its way through the man’s bloodstream. It wouldn’t affect him immediately but even for a man of his size it shouldn’t take long at all to paralyze him from the neck down. Until the match was officially called however the young swordsman of the mist would not count his opponent out.

He had to lead with the assumption that the poison wouldn’t work and continue to press the attack. Shinjiro huffed in amusement as the man attempted to flee, had Chaos managed to nick him after all? He hadn’t expected fear from the man otherwise, that was the only reason he figured he would expose himself so blatantly by turning to run at such close proximity. As he moved away at 45 Speed Shinjiro matched him step for step, not letting him out of range for a second as he continued to alternate slashes with his blades, continuing his sword spirit draw technique each of his blades remained out of their sheaths, one of the only Iaido techniques to be used in such a way. With Chaos, the red blade in his left hand he slashed for the back of the man’s left leg, following with a downward strike with Agony. Red poison dripped from Chaos while Agony still maintained a healthy supply of the grey poison within its grooved blade.

If the man turned to counterattack, Shinjiro would respond accordingly, again utilizing his speed and mirages to provide ample faints, made possible by quick accelerations and changing attack patterns as he continued his sword spirit draw until the man inevitably succumbed to the poison and collapsed. If he increased speed and pulled away he would still likely be able to at least cut the man’s leg with Chaos, hobbling him enough to continue his assault regardless though if even that didn’t slow him down enough he would shift into a Zantou style stance and let out a mighty Kiai pummeling the man with nausea and a great impairment to his speed before he collapsed from the paralysis of the poison. In any scenario Proximus wouldn’t have nearly the speed advantage to outpace him enough to reach the tree, hoist it out of the ground and manage to toss it.

Agony (Used to cut Proximus's back last post)
Sheathed across Shinji’s back with the handle over his right shoulder this Katana measures 32 inches total with a blade length of 26 inches. The blade is black in color and has small groves along the length of the blade for storing and transferring poison across the blade and down to the tip of the sword. The Strength and Durability of this sword is 35 and it will repair any damage done to it over the course of 1 full post. The true unique nature of the blade however is that any being that is cut by its edge, so long as they have chakra will feel an immense surge of pain throughout their entire body; this agony is comparable to every nerve in the body being exposed, making every movement excruciatingly painful and every sensation enhanced to extreme levels. This pain persists for 2 full posts after being cut. Only Shinjiro may wield this weapon with anyone else who uses it for the purpose of combat experiencing the its pain effect so long as they remain in contact with the weapon.

[Shinigami’s Kiss] (Four 250ml bottles) - Grey Poison that was coated on Agony
A-Rank Coating Poison
A poison utilized by Shinjiro in order to render his victim's helpless, paralyzed from the neck down. In its original state this thick poison has a grey coloration though when infused in Shinjiro’s body it can be applied from any of his bodily fluids including his blood, saliva or sweat. Just a few drops introduced to the victim's system via entry though skin contact, blood stream or mucous membrane is enough for the poison to begin taking effect. It will begin as a slight tingling sensation in the area surrounding the entry point of the poison, before developing into full-blown paresthesia of the entire body before the paralysis sets in. Once the paralysis is in place, it will prevent the victim from controlling their conscious motor functions. They will still be able to breath, their heart will continue to function as normal, but they will have no conscious control over their body. The only part not affected is their ability to move their eyes, slightly turn their head, and their ability to speak.
• Onset Time: 1 Post after Introduction
• Run Time: 5 Posts
• Effect: Full-Body Paralysis

[Iaido • Eternal Haunting] (moving at 45 Speed to keep up with the 45 Speed Proximus moves away with)
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver.
Prerequisite(s): *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].
Pushing past the limits of normal human movement, the practitioner moves at the exact same speed, in the exact same direction, at the exact same time, and for the exact same distance as their opponent. This assures that the opponent will always remain in the practitioner's effective attack range. In order for this technique to operate at its peak efficiency, the practitioner must have a Speed and Strength score equal to or higher than the opponent’s Speed and Strength Stats. While this technique can be used regardless of stat differences, opponents with a higher speed can outpace the practitioner and pull away from them, and opponents with higher strength can accelerate more quickly than the practitioner, giving the opponent time to take countermeasures against the practitioner’s attacks. This technique can be used for a number of posts equal to 1/3 of the practitioner's Endurance stat, rounded down.

Chaos (Red sword used to slash at Proximus's leg as he retreats)
Sheathed across Shinji’s back with the handle over his left shoulder this Katana measures 32 inches total with a blade length of 26 inches. The blade in deep crimson in color and has small groves along the length of the blade for storing and transferring poison across the blade and down to the tip of the sword. The Strength and Durability of this sword is 35 and it will repair any damage done to it over the course of 1 full post. The true unique nature of the sword is that so long as they have a chakra network any being cut by it will be struck with immense fear and a sense of impending doom. They will fear Shinjiro especially, often collapsing in terror before going to great lengths to avoid him. This feeling of terror will persist for 2 full posts after being cut by the weapon. Having bonded with the weapon, Shinjiro is immune to its effects.

*Used only if Proximus Increases Speed after Shinjiro keeps up with his retreat and gets off another slash or two*

*[Zantou • Winter Maelstrom]
A-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisite(s): *[Zantou • Winter Blizzard].
Building upon its parent technique, this Stance further builds upon further sharpening and refining the practitioner's capacity to focus on the opponent and the task at hand. Drawing in a deep breath, the practitioner also gathers up their energy and releases a kiai. The level of skill the practitioner has attained allows the practitioner to effectively attack and block from a neutral stance without any detriment. While in this Stance, the practitioner can effortlessly ignore non-critical distractions, focusing solely on the opponent(s). They also are able to ignore extreme heat, extreme cold, moderate oxygen deprivation, extreme fatigue, and even extreme pain. They can read the opponents' muscle contractions and body positioning very accurately in this stance, and they are able to read the direction, the type, the timing, and the speed of an attack that is imminent. The opponent can still effectively mask their movements if they have a movement-concealing Stealth technique of equal or higher rank than this technique. While in this Stance, the practitioner is conferred with a +4 increase to Strength and Will Power but suffers a -4 penalty to Chakra Pool and Control. The practitioner may end this Stance whenever they so wish.

*[Zantou • Frost Dragon's Roar]
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 30 Will Power,, *[Zantou • Frostbitten Howl].
Zantou harnesses the inner strength of its warrior to cause the opponent to lose hold of their senses. A more advanced version of its parent technique, the practitioner unleashes a mighty kiai, which bombards the opponent with violently vibrating air currents entering their ear canals. Opponents within a number of meters equal to the practitioner's Strength must have a Will Power equal to or higher than the practitioner's Will Power to resist the effect of this technique. Otherwise, any opponents in range of the technique will lose all sense of orientation, balance, and proprioception, resulting in a -9 penalty to Speed for the next three posts in the form of disorientation and extreme nausea to the point of uncontrolled vomiting. This technique can be used in conjunction with other techniques. The disorientation effect from this technique can be stacked with other disorientation effects and refreshes the post limit for any disorientation effect currently imposed on the opponents.

Exhibition: Shinji vs Proximus

Post by Golnax » Thu Aug 12, 2021 1:18 am

Proximus had limited options available to him. The trouble was that he simply lacked the tools required to go up against such a vicious opponent as Shinjiro Karagata. He could not see him, he could not hear him. Any actions he took, barring those which would destroy the arena potentially and have the samurai upon him to instantly kill him, would ultimately be ineffectual.

For you see, the poison would take its' course.

As the paralysis began to set in Proximus' scarred body would come to a halt. He would trip and falter and be at the merciless hands of his opponent who slashed at him with care for life abandoned. The display begat a cascade of groans and even some boos from the crowd at the brutality - and the short duration of the match of course - though some simply had to be told what was going on before they joined in; hence the cascade.

Mercifully it would end relatively swiftly as, seeing the giant of a man was unable to move, the samurai who guarded him would intervene, swords drawn, deflecting Shinjiro away and forming a tight guard around the fallen man. Unlike Proximus, they were equipped to see and deal with the antics of the ninja and so most would simply guard the prisoner while the others tended to him. He was dragged away from the arena in just such a manner. Restraints were not necessary because of the paralysis.

In all the onslaught, Proximus did not make a sound.
