An international hub and place of refuge for any who visit. Steam Country is home to Amegakure, a bustling city that is arguably the closest thing in the world to the size of any of the great Shinobi villages. Shinobi activities are strictly forbidden within Steam Country, but shinobi are welcome to conduct personal business here.

The best and brightest…hah. Such a thing made Hajime laugh, scoffing in arrogant dismissiveness at the very idea of that as well as this entire Heiji Day! A day devoted to peace? All about how the five great countries would pay reparations to this country born by war? It was funny, hilarious, laughable even! Conflict was a fundamental part of existence! To get anywhere you needed to fight, conquer and kill everything that placed itself before yourself and your goal! To deny such a truth, and worse to create a day celebrating such naivety, was the funniest thing the amputee had heard all day!

Still, this Heiji Day did at least have one silver lining: food. Sweets to be exact. Ah….they were a delightful thing, one of those little aspects of the world that made it worth being in. Well that and murdering people in brutal displays of callous cruelty that created Jackson Pollock works out of blood but alas, such a hobby was unsafe to indulge given Hajime’s current locale. The Land of Steam, especially today of all days, did have pretty hefty security.

The amputee, dressed in a long full body cloak and hood, was the pinnacle of suspicion. After all, a hooded figure hiding their clothing darting between darkened alleyways and side streets? Clearly, the actions of one who did not want to be seen but there was no maliciousness behind her behaviour. Hajime simply did not like being noticed, especially given how she was spending this entire festival going from food stand to food stand, buying whatever she wanted and eating her fill.

Her latest target was before her: a renowned dango stand she had been hearing about for days on end. Hajime stepped towards it, bending her head to slide in beneath the fabric, ultimately taking a seat at one of the stools. She waited with an odd and almost uncharastic patience, her eyes casting over the menu and what the other patrons had opted to dine upon. It did all seem rather promising…but still, the amputee did not smile nor remove her hood.

It seemed that those arriving from Kirigakure were treated with the most suspicion, and that was fair given they were the ones who attacked this very region during the war, forcing many locals to flee, rebuild and mourn loved ones. With that in mind and given the parameters of this celebration, Shinjiro had decided to leave all of his weapons, with the exception of Malevolence, stored away in a secure location during his time in Steam country. He couldn’t quite bring himself to part with the Lengendary arrow that sat at his hip in a thin sheath, the arrow tip pointing outward in a fashion some would note as peculiar. Though the way his long jacket sat it tended to obscure the weapon unless he intended to use it.

Aptly named the village of Amegakure did in fact rain quite often. The large steel buildings only made the sounds of rainfall seem louder. He was sure there had to be various buildings filled with important guests and various proper festivities though despite the rain it seemed many had taken to the streets as well. Though wandering around in hooded jackets and umbrellas did seem to deter socializing somewhat. ‘This is what the do with all the money funneling in from the great nations?’ Shinjiro thought to himself. ‘What a waste’ he lamented. The whole place seemed like it was only a few well-placed explosives away from destruction. It was meant to be a peaceful trade center, a place of industry and innovative technologies but it seemed a fragile idea. It relied completely on samurai from pebble country to protect it, and while the warriors were plentiful, stationed on practically every street corner it didn’t seem like something that could truly last.

Still, that was above his paygrade. Shinjiro was a weapon, one of the best in the world but a weapon all the same. He killed anyone he was ordered to and even in his free time he felt no remorse in cutting down anyone who would disrespect him or stand in his way. Here however, he could force himself to play nice. By now he was quite famous among the shinobi nations, mostly that reputation came with fear but perhaps he could still find some entertainment. To start, the smell of a dango shop had caught his attention. Despite his rigorous training regimen and diet or perhaps due to it, he had developed a bit of a sweet tooth. It had been rare for him to find the opportunities to indulge in such things throughout his childhood but now he was a grown man. 20 years old, and a Bannin of Kirigkaure. Only the Mizukage had any authority over him now, he had even come to stand up to his father and act according to his own desires now.

Hood pulled up a brown mask with green trim over his mouth and nose he entered the small shop and took a seat at the counter next to a tall cloaked woman that seemed to lack a right arm. His senses flared, detecting scents of hostility emanating from her. “Is it not very good?” he commented dryly, his bright lime-green eyes flicked toward the woman as he sat to her right side. His gaze was powerful and predatory by nature though he attempted to keep his body language nonthreatening and relaxed. “I’ll take two orders of whatever your special is and throw in something else that you recommend” he stated to the owner. As it turned out the special was Kibidango served with Amezake, an alcoholic drink with a creamy texture while the recommended dish was a classic sweet and salty serving of Mitarashi dango. Shinji gestured to one of the orders of the Special and drink, offering it to the seemingly on edge woman.

Now who was this? The moment that man entered the stall, Hajime’s hairs stood on end. Her suspicion was proven to be correct, for the moment the man sat down next to her she found herself subjected to that predatory gaze. It was one she answered in kind, returning the favour by shooting him an equally bloodthirsty but far more unstable look. Her pupils contracted, tightening unnaturally, the golden orbs locking exclusively upon this unwanted intruder. Who was he, to so boldly intrude upon her moment of indulgence….? She wanted to kill him.

Hmmm…..” the amputee murred beneath her breath, remaining silent until she was offered a rather surprising thing: one of the specials and the associated drink. She silently reached towards them, pulling them in her direction, taking them to her part of the bench. She stared, not at the one who offered her such a gift but at the gift itself. Suspicious. That was the only word she could use to describe such a gesture from a stranger. Hmmmm….just what did he hope to gain by such an act….?

I can not speak to the quality. I know this place by reputation, not experience.” Still, the exchange did little to soothe that barely beneath the surface frustration Hajime felt. She did not like a stranger doing a favour for her. It was one of those things that, inevitably, came with some form of hidden cost. Every favour, every good deed, every boon offered….they always came with a price in either this life or the next. Still, she supposed there was a first time for everything…

The amputee reached her only arm forwards, grasping a single stick of the dango before bringing it towards her lips. She opened her maw wide, bit into the soft dango and slowly savoured it. Mmmm…..sweet and succulent… For a few moments there, Hajime was so very enraptured by the experience that she almost forgot she had, heaven’s forbid, company. Ngh…..just what to do now…? She couldn’t exactly resort to violence to deal with this stranger given the nature of this holiday.

Still, the sweet dango and accompanying drink had been enough to allow Hajime to relax a little, or at least as much as she could given her nature. A lifetime in the fighting pits, of having to fight, kill and crush everyone you went up against did little to foster an ability to form positive bonds with people. Still, at least for now she had the embrace of dango and bottle to soothe her spirit.

Thank you, I suppose.” That was what to say in this situation. Manners and politeness may not have been something that Hajime believed in but she could at least grasp them as basic concepts. She was not quite so socially undeveloped as to be unable to do such a thing. She reached for the creamy beverage, taking a simple sip from it, never once exposing her missing arm or taking her eyes off Shinjiro.

'I'm glad mother made this coat so damn waterproof... I'd be soaked all the way to the bone if it wasn't for this thing! Ryoto thought as he moved through the festive streets of the village. The coat was sipped all the way to, just above, his knees where it ended. It covered all the important bits the authorities of the village would not want to see, as this was neutral land where shinobi activities were banned. It truly was a nice get away, Ryoto thought as he moved between the opposing food stands. 'It would be even nicer if the sun was shining... But I suppose the village is named the way it is for a reason.' his mind continued as his eyes looked from on food stand across to the next and then over onto the other side of the street.

The food places were all heaving with people who trying to make the most of the festival, it was beginning to irritate the youth slightly as he really was struggling to find a place to eat, and the hotel the village had put them in was not great. He shook his head, and at a quick glance he spotted a place that had some empty seats. The youths black eyes fell onto the sign as he tried to figure out exactly what was on offer, only to realise it was dango. Not his favourite, too sweet, but he was not going to risk moving to another place and losing a seat only to then find that no where else had any spaces.

Using his left hand he lifted the curtain a little to have a look inside, to have a look at the people who were already in there. They seemed both busy with their food and drink. So, the youth made a few quick steps and hopped onto the empty stool, leaving and empty one between him and the woman. 'Whew! What is this weather about! How's it going old man? I'll grab a...' The dark eyes once again began to scan the view as he tried to make up his mind about what he wanted, and he struggled. Not being a big fan of dango he did not know what were the better options. He decided to just trust the man himself; 'You know what... Surprise me!' He let out and then unzipped his his coat and chucked it onto the coat hanger perfectly.

As he waited for his food to arrive, his gaze gently ventured towards the two who were next to him, only then he realised that the woman was giving off negative vibes, like she was about to murder someone, and the man bore the symbol of Kirigakure on his left shoulder. The youth just sat there, and observed.

Shinjiro felt his hairs stand on end as she met his gaze. But it wasn’t fear that he felt, rather excitement. He had several friends in Kirigakure that could be described as psychotic, bloodthirsty killers. One was an ex-girlfriend, though he wasn’t sure she knew they weren’t quite as official as they once were. Lately, he had actually begun to feel some romantic interest in one of his juniors within the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. Though Shinjiro was hardly someone who believed in traditional monogamy. He cared about each of them, and they each satisfied him in different ways, that was all that mattered to him. He only hoped they wouldn’t kill one another if they found out.

Still, such a look was strangely alluring to him. More so given the fact that she wasn’t from Kirigakure. Her attire was too foreign, and her scent wasn’t that of the Ocean, no she was from somewhere else. But whether it was Iwa or Suna he couldn’t say for certain. Nearly everyone he met from Suna seemed like a pacifist but if she was from an enemy nation that might explain her apparent hostility toward him. Whatever her origins it didn’t matter much to him, Shinjiro didn’t hold grudges against people simply for their alliance. During festivals such as this he was content to treat one another simply as fellow shinobi and if the day came where he was to kill them then so be it.

Slowly Shinjiro removed his hood, revealing his honey brown hair, and then his mask was lowered. His face was smooth and youthful if a little average-looking. He still looked like an older teenager at most despite being a few months from turning 21. But to anyone with sharp intuition and near-death experiences they would recognize the signs of an apex predator. The young man remained keenly aware of his surroundings and even through the thick jacket and tattered cloak, his stature indicated a physique that was the perfect blend of raw power and streamlined efficiency. This was a young man that had already killed hundreds, starting before the age of 10. He recognized similar traits in this woman, less refined, not quite the elite training he had received but the same predatory hunger, the killing aura, it was there and quite thinly veiled.

He took a bite of the same type of dango, enjoying the texture and the savory sweetness. Shinjiro smiled as the woman seemed to enjoy the sweet treat. Even a killer had to be able to find enjoyment in something beyond murder. A soft smile and nod when she thanked him. “You remind me of someone back home” he mused whimsically. “Kanpai!” he said simply, lifting his own glass of the sweet alcohol as the woman did. Her gaze was intense, and he found some amusement but also interest in keeping his attention on her. He felt motion from the doorway behind him, smelled and heard the Genin from Kumo as he entered. But he didn’t bother looking at him, he came into his view anyway as he sat a couple spots away from the woman on her other side. Nothing about the newcomer seemed particularly interesting though he was a bit on the loud and obnoxious side. Taking a deep sip he enjoyed the warmth that filled his chest. “If you don’t mind me asking, where are you from? I can’t quite place it” he inquired curiously. “I’m Shinjiro by the way. Karagata Shinjiro” he added. He wore his Kirigakure protector on his left shoulder so his affiliation would have been rather obvious. On his chest was a patch sewn into his jacket with the symbol of the seven swordsmen and on his right shoulder the insignia of the Kraken, his family's crest. But this woman didn’t seem to have as many markings clearly flaunting her associations, only the colors and style of her clothing and her scent gave him a strong feeling that she was from somewhere out West.

Ugh. It got worse. First that nosey stranger barged in and sought to suck up by bribing her with food and drink, then came this loud and annoying headache! Just shut up…both of you! Shut up. Shut up. Shut up…. Her expression snapped to face Ryoto, locking upon him and staring right into his eyes, murderous bloodlust seeping out from behind her pupils. This….this was why she did not like going outside. People were annoying. Irritating. Frustrating. Headache inducing distractions that did absolutely nothing except piss her off! She really wanted to kill them both….

And it got even worse! As if such a thing could be possible! A quick glance away from Ryoto to check on Shinjiro, an understandable thing given how he was just as big a pain as the loudmouth, revealed that excited look in his eyes. Gross. There was nothing worse, nothing more frustrating, than a person that was not afraid of her. A fearful opponent was a weak and easily killed one but an excited one? A brave one? A happy one? They tended to put up the greatest fight and that was annoying. Immensely so. There was nothing more Hajime utterly hated than people who stood up to her.

Do I? Unlikely….and that is no business of your’s.” Of course he would try to form some emotional connection to worm information out of her. She had absolutely zero interest or desire to reveal any personal information to him. Her name, her identity, her current village, her origin….Hmp. Meaningless to this stranger. She gained nothing, and in fact potentially lost an advantage, by revealing those details. Her gaze focused back on her food, lifting up and devouring another piece of dango.

Hajime.” Fine. She supposed her name at the very least could be given out. It was something so minor, so inconsequential and so devoid of renown that even if this Shinjiro knew her name, no true harm could come of it. She leaned forwards, resting her only arm upon the counter, an act which unintentionally caused her coat to open, revealing the absent arm. She quickly tried to adjust her position, hiding her vestigial stump but it was a little bit too late.

Hmmm…” Still, she did find the sheer amount of crests and icons plastered over Shinjiro’s attire a pointless waste of things. Openly declaring your allegiance, association or fascination with things to the world? Who did that? That was the pinnacle of idiocy. Why would you do that? To reveal weakness to everyone who so much as looked at you…god. How stupid and thick headed could you be? There was a contemptuous expression seeping through the amputee’s features now, her mood souring as things went by.

The expression of bloodlust radiated from the woman’s face as their eyes met. The youth sat there unbothered, just watching what she would do next. It was obvious she was experiencing some serious mood swings about the situation, and short annoying chuckle escaped Ryotos lips as he listened and watched the woman struggle with the situation, but eventually giving in and surrendering a tiny piece of information about herself. ’Hajime, and Shinjiro.’ Ryoto recited the names in his mind to help his brain store their faces in memory.

Suddenly, a plate had arrived in front of him with a couple of dango. It appeared that he was given the exact same dish as the others in the restaurant at that very moment. Swiftly he grabbed some chop sticks and stabbed through the middle of one of the four dango that were on his plate, taking a minor bite and trying to enjoy the food he was not so very keen on.

As he ate, he listened to the other two, to what was going on outside of the restaurant, anything to help him make his way through the dango. He even went as far as turning to face the woman again, and as he did, she moved and her coat opened, revealing a stump for an arm. His young features froze as he managed to get a good brief look at it before she closed her coat. Questions brewed in his mind as he chewed down the dango to save the girl from being covered with its bits once he obliterated her with a barrage of questions.

’Wow wow wow! Lady where’s the heck’s yer’ arm gone!? All that’s left is a stump! We’re you like really hungry or something?!’ The youth blurted out once the dango made its way down to his stomach. Not thinking of the possible repercussions, he just went for it, saying whatever came to mind.

Shinjiro chuckled lightly at Hajime’s cold demeanor and insistence that the young assassin of Kirigakure didn’t know anyone quite like her. “Oh, I’m sure I’ve met much worse than you. Most of my friends aren’t even human, they’re women in a class of their own. Some would call them monsters, the types of people who slaughter for fun. But to me, they’re precious allies, some of the few people that can understand” he said, speaking whimsically at first but as he went on his tone became more serious and the look in his eye grew colder and more deadly. He could see right through her, they had much in common, the difference was Shinji had been raised in a culture where such attributes were common, praised even. He was able to make friends with others like them and embrace those parts of himself.

His eyes narrowed slightly when she refused to answer where she was from. He wasn’t used to people not answering his questions. Most people either treated him like a celebrity or were terrified of him. Of course, that was all the more reason why he enjoyed events like this where he could receive more genuine reactions. A chance to act normal and even be friendly with others and learn what types of people there were in the world. Instead, she uttered a simple word. It was confusing at first and he hadn’t immediately realized it was her name that she provided. He wasn’t sure what he was supposed to begin doing and was even a little irritated that she seemed to be giving him a command until it dawned on him that it was simply an unusual name, perhaps even an alias. “Unusual name” he muttered lowly as he noticed her missing arm as her cloak shifted. ‘War injury, an enemy of Kirigakure? Or just bitter in general?’ he wondered to himself.

He was about to inquire when the daft-looking Kumo shinobi chimed in. “Watch your mouth kid. You should show more respect to your elders” he growled, his primal green eyes flaring to life. His position shifted, turning so that he could move in an instant. He could feel his own bloodlust rushing to the surface and he wanted nothing more than to rip the boy's arm off and shove it down his throat. It wouldn’t be the first time. Shinjiro constantly battled opposing internal forces, the cold, calculated assassination training instilled by his family, and the violent, impulsive behavior that was infused into his very soul with the sealing of the Vorashu, King of all beasts within him. But either way the man was a killer through and through, death and violence were embedded into every aspect of his life, and they were intended to be his entire reason for living. “I won’t protect you from her and don’t think the samurai can do anything to stop me if I decide you look better without an arm too” he warned. What happened next might at the very least be entertaining but it was likely Ryoto had gotten himself in over his head.

He said it. That dumb and moronic boy said it.The moment Hajime’s stump was revealed that stupid, uninelligent, socially incompetent pig headed child announced her missing arm to the world. Hajime burst from her chair, rising upwards in a sudden and sharp movement. Her head slowly but surely turned to face Ryoto, her pupils constricted, as tight and narrowed as could be. For a few seconds, her pupils spun around wildly, looking around the entire room before exclusively and obsessively locking onto Ryoto. One step, then a second and then a third. She was slowly approaching that fool of a boy, yet she stopped next to Shinji.

I do not need the likes of you to issue threats on my behalf….and I really do not care for your transparent and moronic efforts to form some sort of connection with me. Do you really think I am stupid enough to buy into your boasting about meeting people worse than me? Even if that is true, I do not care. Now shut up you boastful brat.” Her patience, as limited as it was, had quite frankly been exhausted by this point. First by Shinji trying to befriend her and now by this little maggot. He was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I could kill you so very easily.” Her only arm shot out, a sudden change in the chakra levels precipitating the employment of jutsu. She did not need to make a single hand sign, the energy flowing throughout her body changing and transforming, flowing down to the one arm she did have. Metal coated her only remaining hand before swiftly transforming into a four inch spike, stopping a mere centimetre away from Ryoto’s throat. It would have been so utterly simple a matter to rip this boy apart and decorate the streets with his limbs but…no. Hajime was going to let her revenge stew for now.

She lowered her arm, dissipating the jutsu, the spike of metal merely breaking apart into harmless particles that faded away. She twisted on her heels, turning away from Ryoto before deciding to take her leave. She was done with this entire headache inducing affair. Hajime had come here to satisfy her sweet tooth only to end up being harassed by some jumped up little punk and insulted by some imbecilic buffoon that lacked social skills. Hmp. And she thought she was bad with people.

She marched out of the establishment, brushing off any and every attempt to engage her in conversation or talk her out of leaving. She would seek to vanish into the streets, wishing to return to the inn room she had rented for the duration of her stay.

The youth has been told that the people of Kiri are very violent individuals. But this is not something he was expecting to hear from a shinobi in a dango booth at a festival that celebrates peace. He knew he might have gone overboard with what he said to the girl who was now staring at him dead in the eye and looked like she was about to pierce through just with that very intense look. Suddenly hear arm became coated with metal, and the metal extended into a spike that moved towards Ryoto. He entered full battle mode as he saw the blade nearing him. Allowing it to get any closer would be a mistake. Swiftly he withdrew a kunai out of his hip holster as his simultaneously placed his feet on the stool he was sat on and hopped one seat backwards while holding the kunai close to his body in a defensive manner.

This as now in the zone of damage control, he knew that if this escalated he would most likely be dead, especially that the kiri nin was definitely not on his side. And the guards would prevent and conflict from reaching a dangerous level. this was a festival of peace after all, and the youth wanted to actually enjoy his time here. For some reason he believed that shinobi were not as fragile as this, and hence the reason for blurting out some so stupid. ’I apologise. That was very rude of me, I hope we can put this behind us… Hey let me pay for your dango as a way of saying sorry.’ Upon saying that, he replaced the kunai in its holster and hopped off his feet and onto his bum and looked over at the chef behind the counter who looked a little terrified. Hopefully he would not alert the villages security and they would be allowed to enjoy the rest of their meal is sweet harmony.

Initially, Shinjiro had considered Hajime’s surly behavior to be almost endearing, a mystery to solve. And the boy from Kumo had been a rude annoyance but an ultimately insignificant one. However, the young Bannin and Overseer of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist could only tolerate so much disrespect. It was a festival of peace in a neutral country, he could control himself reasonably well and both these people were far beneath him. But the Karagata were a prideful bunch and Shinjiro placed more value on his village and his family name than himself. He wasn’t sure what exactly about him this woman seemed to despise but the comment about ‘the likes of you’ was rather open to interpretation and none of them sat well with him. “A connection? I don’t give a damn about you. I just saw something familiar in you and was curious. But don’t you dare disrespect me. If I ever see you again, I’ll kill you before you know what happened” he promised. She was one of the only people to ever speak to him like that and walk away from it. Fortunately, she was so weak and insignificant that it was unlikely they would ever cross paths again but if they did he wouldn’t forgive or forget.

For a moment he considered paralyzing her and leaving her to lay in the rain for the rest of the night, but he was sure the guards would soon be on their way. The man at the counter looked like he was just looking for a chance to leave to go find a Pebble country samurai. When the girl channeled chakra and the boy drew a kunai, Shinjiro simply watched, drinking back the last of his alcohol and twirling a dango stick in his fingers. Even with just this toothpick he could kill them both in an instant, but it wasn’t worth his time. They could both kill each other, and he wouldn’t lose a second of sleep. He allowed the woman to leave, assuming she didn’t provoke him further or threaten him. If she made any aggressions toward Shinjiro he would simply knock her unconscious with a swift chop to the neck. Assuming she stormed off in silence he would simply toss a handful of Ryo on the counter, enough to pay for all of their bills and then walked off as well but sure to head in a different direction from the woman. He knew her name and now he knew she was from Iwa based on that Kouton ninjutsu she had manifested. Even though their villages were allies she had made an enemy of him and certainly would only find hardship in her life if she continued to manifest such a volatile personality.

Inyo's brilliant Lion armor glimmered in the rain. The compacted cosmic rays refracted the light against the rain causing a slight rainbow effect to line his entire being. Most of all, it kept him from being soaking wet though. As he made his way towards a dining establishment a woman left the bar, seemingly pouring with rage or something he didn't know. He could only assume some weirdo's had hit on her or something. Who knew. He narrowly avoided colliding with her and just watched her pass by till she disappeared from his line of sight seemingly never even noticing him.

[]Well then.[/i]

Ignoring the occurrence he continued onward to the fine dining establishment that would fill his ever growing hunger. A growing lion needed to eat well after all; especially if he was to grow big and strong like his father. Upon entering the place a glimmer of light would appears as his armor seemingly was sucked off his body and into the sword's hilt at his waste, leaving him in nothing but plain rural clothing. His eyes scanning the place, near the bar, Ryoto, a Kumogakure child looked dumbfounded. Near him was a particularly angry looking fellow and particularly powerful... some kind of power that the bearer of Shishi, the Lion Spirit who defied the Genma, should recognize but could not.

The swords men would make his way towards the bar and find a seat near the two figures.

"Something wrong gentlemen?" he would say as he slapped some Ryo down on the bar and mumbled and order out, only for a beer maiden to return with a pint of ale and some chips and vinegar.

After the little outburst of malice between himself and the girl, Ryoto returned to his dango. Trying his best to embrace the sweet dumplings and just get on with it, and as he did, he managed to completely ignore the final exchange between the kiri-nin and the girl who had now left. Ryoto was not bothered, he was just trying to get his moneys worth from these overly sweet things people call food. A moment later the curtain lifted once again, and to his surprise it wasn’t the girl returning with back up, it was a guy in armour that shone like a crisp rainbow. Curiosity grabbed Ryoto as he stared at him with a mouthful of dango.

’Yo yo bro… How’dya makh yor armrr spark?’ the youth said with the dango still in his mouth. A moment later the whole suit of armour had disappeared. Ryoto found this very peculiar and wanted to know more about this, but the guy seemed more interested in the Kiri-nin sat a few seats down from him.

The lion grinned as his hand swept back into his fro, taking steps further into the restaurant as he did so. His opposite hand reached into his back pocket to procure a hairband. His hair pulled back neatly and out of the way of his face he tied it down with the band before making his way to a seat somewhere in between the Kiri ninja and the fellow Lightning Empire citizen- at which point he would have answered the boys question with an obvious lie, something like "I'm not exactly sure". Once his food arrived and he began to dig in, he would clear his throat a little, then look over to the boy who posed the earlier question.

"You're from the empire I take it." he said as his eyes looked the boy up and down. "Cheers, friend?" he would say lifting his beer to the boy while cocking his head towards Shinjiro. Maybe if he got drunk enough he would explain to them that he was just the next inheritor of the Lion's Blade from an extraordinary long chain of fellow Lions. Oh and the Lion was a benevolent spirit.

"And you, dark and angry. Cheers to you too. Can I buy you a round?"

Shinjiro was about to walk out, placing his Ryo down on the counter, when suddenly a rather interesting looking person walked in. He felt Vorashu immediately bristle and churn, an uncomfortable feeling, like his skin was crawling. ‘Traitorous filth’ the great shaman scowled, giving no further elaboration. But it was enough to give Shinjiro pause. Watching the individual enter he looked them over, searching for weaknesses. His sword and armor seemed enhanced, some sort of spiritual or chakra-related abilities no doubt. Was that what had Vorashu on edge? Or was this man a Jinchuuriki and the equipment was unrelated? Whatever the case even Shinjiro felt a distaste towards this man, so flashy, like he thought he was some kind of hero.

But he did seem strong, and naturally, he felt the longing to assert dominance over him, taking him down a few notches. But that was mostly Vorashu’s influence, seething and seeping into Shinjiro’s mood. He was already on edge from that woman. Though after a few moments he exhaled slowly, focusing his mind. He had been trained better than this. An assassin couldn’t let his emotions control him, reluctantly he would at least attempt to remain civil. He eyed the beer and the food, he could go for something a little more filling than dango. When offered some drinks Shinjiro relented. “Yeah, sure. Why not?” he said, forcing a smile as he turned back around, pushing aside his plates of half-eaten dango to show he was done with them. They were good but he could only enjoy so much sweetness before he needed food of real substance. “You don’t seem like most shinobi” he said simply with an even tone.

'How can you be a walking, talking rainbow and not know how?' The youth pondered the newcomers answer as he watched him with curiosity, eventually nodding in response his very own question. The Shining knight appeared to be very interested in the Kiri-nin sat a few seats further down, which did not surprise the youth. The man looked serious, with multiple insignia upon his person, it was no wonder he attracted a lot of attention, especially with an eager attitude like that. Going to the extent of calling the girl who had just left a traitor, it was obvious he was proud to be a member of the village hidden in the mist. Ryoto had heard tales of their viciousness, and knew better than to mock the man and cause himself trouble during a time that was resolved to peace, regardless of how much he wanted to test himself against him. He shook his head, and instead would try to take advantage of the action of the older boy with special armour. Ryoto lifted the piece of dango he had left imitating him and repeating partially what the other had said; 'Cheers to you too.' The boy said as he took the piece of dango and drew the skewer out of it, leaving the sweet dough in his mouth to melt away.

As the two began talking, Ryoto tried to join in; 'I'll get the next one... Does this place serve real food... Or is it just this sweet stuff?' He said as he looked around for a menu.

“You don’t seem like most shinobi” Shishi let out a kind laugh at Shinjiro's comment.

"I'm guessing you're not flirting with that comment. But yeah, you're 100% correct. I'm a samurai from the former Hojo realm of Lightning Country." Shishi said as he drank the cup of service barley tea he had received shortly after being seated. Perhaps if he got drunk enough he would say something, though unbeknownst to him within Shinjiro was something... someone... who knew the Lion very well. "And you look a little different from most shinobi too!" he said shooting a pair of "digging" eyes to Shinjiro before quickly smiling, his eyes turning to slits with his grin.

For some reason, the hilt at his waste almost burned against his side, as if it was screaming out to him. It was not of any importance though- there was no danger here, amongst friends. Well, friends forced by steams government.

"You like hokke? Maybe I'll order a few grilled ones but I'm not sure I can eat it all on my own. Perhaps you two would like to join me." he said as he took note that neither of the men were too fond of dango or sweet stuff. "I'm sure beef or something more heavy is on the menu too- after all we're all Hunters in our own right." he said. He'd not to the fellow Lightning Empire commrade.

"You can get us drinks then!" he'd simply say as he ordered some hokke and some beef menchi katsu and cabbage salad.

Shinjiro idly tapped his nails against the counter, he was still seething with anger. A boastful brat, nobody had ever called him that before, at least not to his face. He wished he could at least feel the effects of the alcohol but not even that could ever bring him any solace. It was difficult to fight the urge to kill something or find a woman to release his frustrations on. He attempted to distract himself with some idle conversation at least, smirking with a huff of light amusement as the rainbow warrior made a playful comment. The Jinchuuriki gave him an appraising look, not his usual type. He reminded him of Mondai a bit, the stature and skin tone. But there was something about this man that stirred his competitive spirit; if he were a Lion Shinjiro was a Tiger. They were similar yet couldn’t help but clash. And yet it also made him curious. “I could be” he smirked, his eyes almost glowing green with his raw dominance. He would enjoy making the man submit, in any way he could given the parameters of the festival.

The young Overseer of the Seven Swordsmen hummed in consideration. He had never met a lightning country samurai before. This was interesting. “Are all of your kind so…flashy?” he wondered, he had met samurai from other countries, killed some, fought alongside others but none displayed such colours or style. He was surprised when the young lion commented on his appearance being unusual. “Do I?” he wondered, a long cloak, hood and mask, full length clothes. They seemed clothes well enough suited to task of assassination. He blended in just enough without drawing excess attention to himself, though he had cared much less about such things since becoming a member of the seven swordsmen. No longer was his primary purpose assassination, though the arts were still a natural part of his combat style. Instead, he was a champion of the village, a symbol of strength and his pride was encouraged and thus he could afford to freely display his loyalties. It would be different if he was actually tasked with a target. “Many shinobi don’t wear the official uniforms” he stated simply. At the mention of some grilled fish, Shinjiro nodded, a smile threatening to creep upon his face. “Of course, I do. I’m from Water country after all” he said lightly. Naturally he strongly favored seafood to other types of meats, though he had come to appreciate any form of protein. In his transformed states he had even eaten humans. He sat back and stopped leveled a look at Ryoto as he offered to buy drinks. He supposed he could be afforded a chance at redemption. “What about you? What’s it like being a Kumo shinobi? Clearly, they’re not big on manners up there, but you also don’t strike me as someone who has been beaten up much” he considered, it was rare for him to hear of strong shinobi from Kumo, but they also tended to stay up on their mountains so it was hard to say.

Ryoto continued looking through the menu as the two older shinobi made conversation. And he was glad he did. They had plenty of choice which included grilled fish, raw fish, boled fish, steamed fish. There was a lot of fish for sure. It was a good choice, lean proteins in the fish didn't work like the red meat in cows. This didn't make anyone who ate it constantly to grow excessively big. This would keep him lean and agile, hopefully anyway. He looked over at the chef and politely got his attention. Ordered all the different fish, sides and drinks they all wanted then then turned back to the two other shinobi.

The Kirigakure-nin turned to Ryoto directly, he didn't know what it was but it was strange talking to someone from Kirigakure. The villages have been enemies since he could remember, he was not much on history. And they were all just sat there, casually talking, having drinks, and eating together like either side had not claimed numerous of their shinobis lives. This must be the beauty of neutral, conflict-free zones such as Steam. It was nice, and Ryoto shrugged at the mans question. In all honesty, he had never really gave it too much thought. He never actually thought about what life was like shinobi from other villages. His response was brief - 'Similar as everywhere else I guess. We get assigned missions, and we have to carry them out...' The youth said before letting out a chuckle at the mans comment about not taking many beatings. 'Yeah... I'm usually the one giving out the beatings... if they are deserved obviously.' He then took a sip of his drink and ate one more dango before his attention came back to the two.

The Kirigakure shinobi was visibly seething with anger leading Inyo to only imagine exactly what had transpired between him and the woman moments before. His mind wandered as he imagined the reasons why. Perhaps they were jilted lovers? Had she slept with his brother? Perhaps she had mistaken him for another, or even blown his cover? There were so many things that could cause anger between folks and it was so fun to imagine the "why" if only to distract himself and escape the soul-crushing weight of the responsibility that had been put on young Inyo's shoulders. He was snapped back to reality yet again by the burning of his hilt at his side.

Surprisingly, he found Shinjiro's gaze upon him. His eyes were an unnatural and unnerving green, and had they not lived in a world of shinobi clans Inyo probably would have questioned it, instead, to him, Shinjiro was just one of a thousand shinobi. As the man let out a comment on his style, Inyo pursed his lips before repeating softly "my kind?", drawing it out with an almost offended tone and pause with the intent of making Shinjiro feel awkward for comedic value. He knew he meant samurai.

He would commit however to a game of cat and mouse- or lion and tiger.

"Am I? Well, I guess my father always said clothes make the man." he said as he gestured to Shinjiro. "You seem to contradict that idea though, your clothes read cool, calm assassin but the way you claw at that table says you're something far more primal." he said as he raised his teacup to his mouth, his eyes fixing their gaze on Shinjiro as he heard Ryoto making a large order. He'd listen to the two with interest- he was not a shinobi and that world was only something he heard about through third-hand tales.

He had to wonder though, what was Kirigakure like.

Shinjiro frowned, clearly unsatisfied by Ryoto’s simple answer. Of all the shinobi villages, Kumogakure was the one he knew the least about. He had the least interaction with their shinobi throughout his career and had never had the chance to sit down and talk with one before. Even throughout the course of the war he had fought mostly samurai and Konoha shinobi. Only in the final push when Kumogakure came to drive Kirigakure out of Fire country did his blade clash with any from the mysterious mountain village. Though he had scouted around their railways before, he knew they were heavily invested in industry, modernization and cutting-edge technology. But how that was represented in their own village he could only speculate about. “How enlightening…” he said with a slight inflection of sarcasm. Though at the comment of being the one to hand out beatings, Shinjiro scoffed loudly. He was fairly good at assessing the strength of others, it was a necessary survival skill within Kirigakure. From his judgment Ryoto was the type of guy he would have thrashed around in training when he was as young as 11. “Then what they say must be true…aside from your Raikage and your Skyguard, you lot are all pushovers. That’s why you hide up on your mountains, and why you need your railways to build your wealth”, he assessed. It seemed like the type of place he would like to raid. Perhaps one day he would turn into a Dragon and burn down their mountain, plundering their wealth. After being instrumental in conquering several nations during the war, even Kumogakure no longer seemed an unattainable target. The only obstacle was Hayate, a man he was sure that even he couldn’t defeat.

The Jinchuuriki was not particularly amused by the implied undertone of the samurai’s mock offense. In Kirigakure, while racism certainly existed, generally speaking it was only power that mattered. Though he supposed with the noble casts of the village, anyone poor or born outside of Kirigakure was at a distinct disadvantage and looked down upon until they defied the odds and proved themselves. But it was natural for foreigners to be at a disadvantage in any country. The samurai went on to talk about their clothing choice and Shinjiro huffed in amusement. “Clothes are meaningless. How you wield a sword is what matters” he said, quite seriously. He stared deep into the man’s eyes as he quickly perceived the duality of Shinjiro’s life. “I can be” he challenged. “I was raised to be stoic and efficient; to be a tool…but I’ve come to enjoy giving in to impulses, and aggression” he said, continuing to challenge the young man. Whether it be swordplay or simple wrestling he felt the desire to clash with him, to let loose some of this building tension.
