Kotori scurried through the streets of the city, hands gripping an assortment of foodstuffs and bags of sweet treats. There had been a time only a few moons past that such indulgence would’ve been impossible for her, where every meal was carefully bought, and carefully basic. But today she spent freely, even knowing she couldn’t even finish it all herself, and happily handed out oddments to passing children and fellow tourists alike. It turned out that working as a shinobi paid—and paid well, when your village really wanted you to succeed. Soon she might even be able to move to live somewhere with a passing resemblance to a comfortable home. But those were thoughts for later, and for after another mission or two. Maybe after a promotion. For now, she had a festival to explore.

She wasn’t yet over the excitement of being here in Pebble Country, thought admittedly the sights hadn’t so far been very different from those to which she was accustomed. The people here had the same hardiness to them as the people of Earth Country. The same cautious determination and readiness to adapt. Today, they adapted to newcomers, many of them a contained type of dangerous, from the world over. Among them Kotori ran and gawped, ducked and wove, eagerly drinking in the atmosphere. It was her first festival, after all, and she fully intended to make the most of it. She’d spent the morning finding the tastiest morsels on offer, and hoped now to meet a few new people before finding the famed pavilion later to begin training under the Iron Banner.

Thinking it would be a quieter place away from the busiest streets, and somewhere that people would be more willing to sit and relax, she left the main festival areas and began walking through a large park. Soon enough, after walking down a few pleasant tree-lined paths and across some open grassy areas—most of them occupied with scattered groups enjoying various celebrations—she came to a small, steep hill, lined on its upper banks by well-tended bushes and more trees. Beyond those, crowning the hill and rising two stories into the air, was a white stone pavilion. Marble columns ran around its circular base, supporting a wider second storey, and under them were walls carved with an intricate frieze and endless lists of names. She supposed it must be some sort of memorial for the recent war, seeing as the stonework was still so neat and clean, but she only spent a few minutes staring at the beauty on the outside.

Now that she was here, standing before the structure, she realised that a feeling in her mind had been drawing her this way, and still beckoned her onwards. Inwards. She circled the small building until she found an arched entryway set with two heavy dark teak doors. She pushed one open and found the interior unlit and empty, and ventured inside after half a second of hesitation. It was unlocked, after all, right? Some light filtered down from the upstairs, and she found the ground floor mostly empty except for a few more carvings and lists on the walls, but followed a winding staircase up to the second floor.

This floor was considerably nicer, and an uplifting breeze coursed gently through the open walls. The white stone below gave way to polished and panelled sections with carved jade columns, interspersed with wide open windows which flooded the circular room with light, sending patterns sparkling across a patterned marble floor. Beyond the windows a small balcony fully encircled the floor, supported by the marble columns below, and a beautiful dome of panelled metal, stone, and glass capped the whole structure overhead. From the balcony, she could see out over most of the city and beyond to the distant mountains, and could see the many winding paths in the park leading up to this little summit. It was a beautiful spot, isolated, peaceful, and yet somehow feeling like the heart of the festival all at once.

Filled with an easy contentment, and with the little sensation in the back of her head telling her that this was the place to stay and wait for a while, she hopped up to sit atop the wooden balustrade around the balcony, and began tucking into a bag of sweets. She had a feeling that something important was about to happen here, some event with overdue and lasting significance...

Pink hair flapping in the wind, greenish hued gold eyes, and the voice that could give any sane person a headache.... Akihiko excitedly sprinted from his room. However, the child didn't expect that the guards assigned to him would be as attentive as they were. The child barely could go to the bathroom without someone watching over him. As a boy who demands freedom and respect, with almost nothing to back it... the young delinquent had made the internal decision to make his way amongst the village by himself.

The child smirked and started to run between buildings and ally ways. He ran into a random building and went into the bathroom. After checking the room to make sure he couldn't be seen, Akihiko weaved a few hand seals and to the naked eye, disappeared. He has had some training with other ninja and the genma within him, that has advanced his capabilities exponentially.

Akihiko looked down on the ground and sprinted out of the building he kept a watchful eye on every step he was taking. The child attempted to be invisible and silent, the invisible part was easy, but being proficient in being quiet wasn't his specialty. As the child freely ran throughout the little city, he was getting to see everything. Unfortunately it wasn't in color, since he was in the Limbo Realm. Regardless, the sights, sounds, and smells of everything looked absolutely incredible. He loved new places, especially in the comfort of his own plane.

After being distracted enough, the young genin made his way to what seemed to be two arched teak doors with one being slightly open. The beauty of the doors and interest in what could be inside caused Aki, to continue forward. He believed this was a spot that was referred to for a meeting? The child made his way into the structure only to see a slightly lit hallway.

When the hall ended, Aki made his way silently through the stairs. It only took a few moments for Akihiko to make it to the circular room. The room as a whole was incredibly intricate and genuinely nice. Innocently and unprofessionally, Akihiko weaved a single hand seal. When removing himself from the Limbo Realm, he would step out and slowly become present. The child would put both arms over his head with his elbow out as he looked around. "Wow, this is nicer than any garbage the Raikage has put together." Once he finished his sentence he would turn to Kotori without realizing she was there. He would jump up as if he was scared by a ghost... however this ghost was a young girl eating sweets..

The child gazed upon the young girl close to his age as well. He had never met her before, but something about this child left a resembling and familiar aura to her. He was sure he had never met her before, but something about her he couldn't figure out the resemblance. A resemblance.... that wasn't physical. So he walked up to her while wiping the shocked look from his face. When he got close enough he would awkwardly wave with his right hand, following a dopey smile (but genuine). "Hi there! My name is Akihiko! ooooo What are you snacking on??"

As she was walking around enjoying the festivities this time having gotten a lot better at acting the way Otsukoki wanted since the last time she could focus on having fun this time. Though eventually she had heard that the jinchuriki were meeting up again causing Hiroko to be nervous. She hadn’t improved that much since the last meeting so she figured she would pass on the chance to show up. Isn’t of heading to the meeting place she just found a place to eat and relax.

As she ate she enjoyed the various foods that she couldn’t get in Iwagakure savoring the flavor of each bite. After enjoying the food for awhile on a perch above the festival grounds but far from her fellow Iwagakure jinch and the meeting spot of the other jinch’s she would relax happily. Before eventually she got a idea. Since she didn’t get to have done it in awhile she would try practicing her painting skills thinking about how long it’s been since she has been able to do such a thing. For now she decided to paint a picture of the land scape of the festival. Trying to capture the festive feelings in her painting.

Taiga had protested making the visit out to Pebble Country, but at the behest of Fanho had let himself be dragged all the way out to the damned event. Something about "it's important to have an international presence" and "the other Jinchuuriki will be there too" and likely some other non-sense that he didn't care to commit to memory. He couldn't lie though, festivals did tend to be interesting. From near national disasters with Gene, to winning tournamenets, to meeting the other Jinchuuriki, it was these kind of events where he generally felt his interest in life satiated. At the same time the prospect of meeting other Jinchuurki always made him melancholy.

It was for the simple fact that he didn't have much respect for the other hosts- and to make bonds with them was setting himself up for pain.

After a decade with Sukairaa and a few years of meetings like this Taiga had come to realize that the faces of the other hosts had almost always changed each time they met with very few ever seeming to last long. It was for that reason though that the ones that did earned his utmost respect- like Shinji. He also was perhaps dreading the news he would have to tell the hosts- that one of their own... Masami, had been hunted and killed shortly after the events of their last meeting.

Sukairaa spoke to him.

Up ahead- I feel my brethren in. he called out to Taiga, guiding him towards the other Genma. Not many- perhaps not the meeting you expect, but it pulls to me like a magnet... he said as Taiga shifted his direction to head for an ornate building, phasing right through the walls and the building until he found himself close to the area Sukairaa had pointed him too.

Popping his head up slowly from the ground beneath Akihiko's feet, he'd look around before fully emerging out of the ground. He didn't recognize a single one of the people in the room- if any of them were hosts even.

"Any help here, Suu-chan?" he called out verbally, seemingly talking to himself.

Kotori let her mind wander while she sat and ate, staring out over the town and to the countryside beyond. This felt like a simple, peaceful place—despite the hordes of powerful samurai that the region was now so famous for–and over time her attention faded inwards, to the ever-present voice whispering in the back of her mind, and the steady warmth from deep within her chest.

What is it? She mused. I came here like you asked, but there's nothing here but a nice view! What are we waiting for?
In the last few months she had learned a little of Nolosha's power, though still usually by happenstance rather than through any concerted effort; her supposed teachers were all-too-often occupied with other demands on their time. Most of her progress had simply been in accepting her sudden shift in fate, but even in just that she'd unlocked a way to commune with the beast within. To an extent, anyway. Nolosha thrummed back at her, filling her with a sense of patience and calmness. As usual.

Tenatively, Kotori dug deeper. She pictured the spirit in her mind as a radiant golden orb—she didn't know what the actual spirit looked like, and the orb somehow seemed appropriate—and reached out to it, connecting with it, and drawing from it like sucking air from a balloon. The warmth filled her and her body came alive with a new energy, tingling across her body and down her spine. All at once she felt so much more alive; the breeze became a soft caress upon her skin, the scents and coolness of the air amplified tenfold to her senses. Her mind relaxed and opened simultaneously, and for a blissful moment she felt intimately connected with the whole word around her.

Floating within that euphoric void, she reached out again, this time searching outwards. She'd only done this, tentatively, a few times before, but already it felt second nature. She was searching for life. She found it in the plants and animals, the mice, voles, even insects in the grounds below and around the pavilion building. The birds above. And one person, heading her direction. They felt different, in a good way, to the other people she'd sensed before. Almost like sensing two people in one. So, it was begun. Where was Hiroko? She was meant to be here, too. Perhaps she was running late. She tried to reach her senses a little further, and thought she might be detecting others, but...

But then the void shattered as a voice reached her, sending her reeling out of her momentary trance. Where--? How--?
Somehow, a pink-haired boy near her own age was standing and talking to her, and yet she hadn't sensed his approach at all. In the half-second before her sensory abruptly ended she perhaps caught a glimpse of him, but appearing from nowhere right here in the pavilion. How did he...?
I could feel Him, Nolosha whispered gently, but His vessel was not where your senses could reach.
Thanks, Nolosha. You're such a great help. As always.

Kotori quickly swallowed the sweet she'd been eating at the time—and definitely did not choke on it in her surprise—and hopped down from the railing to meet the new arrival. The golden markings which had flared up acorss her face and skin began to fade and recede slightly as reality returned to the young girl.

"Hey, I'm Kotori," she spluttered, and reached out a greeting hand to Akihiko. Best to appear confident. Her offered hand froze in mid-motion as a head appeared between the other boy's feet, rising out of the ground into the form of a third attendee. This must've been the life source she'd seen approaching. And hopefully not the last one to come, either.

She stepped back a pace to allow the man some room. Unlike Akihiko, this was a grown adult, casually dressed but wearing a distant expression and mumbling something to himself. Nolosha sent a sensation of brashness that Kotori didn't quite understand. She looked at the man for a moment, cocking her head, but he didn't offer any introduction. Well, whatever. I guess I was here first, maybe I should welcome them?

Slowly, awkwardly, Kotori gave a slight bow to the other two attendees. Nolosha grumbled in her mind, unhappy about the display.
"Hachiya Kotori, she introduced herself, "be welcome. I guess." She hesitated, aware that there wasn't much else to say, yet. She was hardly a hostess, seeing as she didn't even really know what had drawn her here either, beyond that it was something connected to the genma, and that these two others were clearly also jinchuuriki.

"Uh, so, where are you guys from?"

Nishiki was enjoying the refreshing escapades made available to him in the land of Pebbles as it allowed him to take in further differing views without worry and contemplate his intense meeting with the great Shogun Fuhen, which though disastrous had the pink haired fox truly thinking ever since.
The Kirigakure bannin found a moment to wander away from the main festivities as his mind wondered and various thoughts on his path in life began to form, though it was within this time of deep thought that his body seemed to simply pull blindly towards a grand place of great destiny.

His royal kimono and long foxy hair danced in the breezey winds as the Tsukino found himself before a great marvel of a structure with many pillars and an ornate and graceful look about it, clearly some kind of monument but there were some alluring doors further back that pulled him in further.
With as much grace as the monument itself Nishiki glided through the doors with gallant steps, whereupon taking in his surroundings and capturing the visage of those already there before him it all seemed to click somehow.
"Ah, I see" he commented with intrigue, especially when his eyes fell upon Taiga
"Nolosha..." Yoshimitsu spoke with an odd quietness to him within his host's mind.
"New faces and yet we are still all being drawn here it seems" Nishiki then added with a smile, the five mini elementals (one of each basic element) beginning to dance with excitement as he then walked towards the others.
He gave a graceful bow to each of them, a hidden though occurred to cause a ruckus with some prank but now was not the time with the serenity of the space, flashing his foxy fangs in a polite and welcoming manner as his nine tails swayed behind him.
"Tsukino Nishiki and Yoshimitsu, if you will" he then introduced himself and his genma
"What the heck was that? Gross!" the beast rebelled internally, disgusted at being part of the introduction and second at that.
"Ah but Yoshi, it is only acceptable that we introduce ourselves" the man spoke out loud, though seemingly not directed at the others.

As Akihiko was listening Kotori, he stood shoulder width apart and moved his arms so that they were crossed. The child felt confident and excited at the same time. Although his family was the Kumogakure Empire, his second family were the other Hosts. A true group a people who all could actually relate to each other. He would answer her question without realizing fully what was going on below him. "Well in case you guys don't know, my name is Akihiko and I am from Kumogakure. Currently a Genin!" The phrase of saying he was a Kumogakure Genin, along with being a host, brought great pride to the young child's ego.

Although the showing wasn't as much, he did a slight scan of the room. The boy looked down only to see a man start to come up from the ground!?! The pink haired on Aki's head bobbed as he jumped backwards to avoid whatever the hell was happening below him. When Akihiko landed on the ground, his once folded arms got up defensively. His right arm stayed to his side while his left went up near his chin and bent to cover his face. All the while Ryenso laughed "HAHA BOY, this guy isn't bad. You are a fool" he echoed in the pre-teen's brain. When the child realized it was just another host, he began to laugh a little. He went back to making he feet shoulder width apart and even folded his arms again. He mockingly muttered "what a cute trick" before doing a little scoff, however the shit-eating grin couldn't be taken from his face. He knew what he was doing, and hopefully the child would poke the bear just a little bit.

However, Aki was excited to hear everyone's background. It had been a little bit since he has heard everyone's voice, who they were, and where they were from.

Sukairaa seethed silently before he spoke up. Taiga still didn't quite understand why, as Sukairaa was arguably on of the more powerful Genma, but he always seemed to act like a wounded animal with his tail between his legs when the other Genma were around. Taiga cleared his throat.

"Come on Suu-chain, which one is she?" he audibly prodded as the girl turned to him and introduced herself by name. He merely bowed his head but didn't quite respond. Finally what was usually a deep rumbling voice delivered something more mouseish to the boy. The name of the girls Genma.

Nolosha.

The Genma said, his voice almost squeaking as it returned to it's previously low timbre but with a dash of confusion. He seemed to be struggling with the boy above Taiga, who jumped like a scared welp. The other one- he's Ryeunso.... I don't know why I know this? I feel like I've never seen him before but as Genma we've been siblings since the planes themselves first shifted and your kind rightfully bowed before us... Taiga was confused at how a Genma could barely know a Genma. Perhaps some force greater than the Genma and more like the gods themselves had removed another Genma and sneakily replaced it with a new one.

Fully emerging from the ground, Taiga would head for Yoshimitu's host who had just appeared. While he was from Kirigakure and scum; Taiga couldn't help but be happy that at least one other Jinch was still alive. Placing his hand on the the fox-like Tsukino's shoulder he let out a sigh.

"It's a relief to see at least one familiar face. Tell me, is Shinji-kun well?"

Taiga's heart faltered a little as he awaited the response. Sukairaa sniffed.

Such a gross little nit.

Peace, if that’s what it could have been called, had been short-lived. In less than two years since the conclusion of the great war armies were once more deployed to battle. Water country was being invaded by the Heart Empire, and though a ceasefire had been reached in lieu of this event, a peaceful resolution was unlikely. In a time such as this it was more important than ever to gather the great hosts of the worlds. The Jinchuuriki were the secret weapons of the shinobi villages, they held far more power than some of them might realize. As the leader of their newly established order, Shinjiro had devoted himself to protecting the other 9 Jinchuuriki, creating a bond that transcended the greed and hatred of the 5 shinobi nations and the Heart Empire.

But he wondered how many would come, how many would even still be alive only a year after their first meeting. Vorashu had predicted half would meet their end by this time. Five young lives cut short due to the oppression of the Genma and the practice of sealing such ancient spirits in emotionally unstable children. But no matter the odds, Shinjiro wished to give others like him a chance to live, not just as weapons but as people. But there was much to do to reach such ends.

Soaring high above the pavilion, a golden eagle observed the foot traffic below. There were hundreds of shinobi and samurai that had congregated here in Pebble country. But there were a few that stood out to its well-trained eyes. One such individual was the Enkouten woman idling painting near one of the many training tents that had been set up. ‘That’s one. Didn’t she feel the pull?’ he considered idly. ‘Wretched human lover. Leave Otsukoki and her cage out of this. She’ll only bring weakness’ Vorashu seethed. The ancient shaman had his own agenda, and her presence would only weaken the will of the others and bend them toward supporting the humans instead of revolting against them. Shinjiro contemplated for a moment. ‘I can’t help those who won’t help themselves’ he admitted. A Jinchuuriki that stood alone wouldn’t last long. It was a shame; she could have made a powerful ally should she stand with them.

The Eagle’s gaze shifted as it banked to the left, cutting through the sky as it descended until it came level with the open pavilion, some 40 meters away. ‘Akihiko, Nishiki, Taiga’ he recognized, finding a sense of comfort in seeing several familiar faces. And then there was another woman, dressed in a style that he recognized from Rock country in his travels through their mountain tribes. ‘Nolosha’s new host’ he realized, feeling a sudden warmth as he recalled Kiyoshi and her parting words to him. She had believed in him, perhaps seen some good buried in his calloused heart. For her and for those other guiding lights that had shown him a better path he wanted to try to find a purpose beyond murder for the sake of Kirigakure.

Flapping his wings suddenly, the host of the body Genma accelerated toward the building as he heard Taiga inquire about him. Coming in like a javelin green chakra enveloped him as he cleared the wooden balustrade. Then, transforming in mid-air, Shinjiro gracefully performed a front flip and landed with the utmost silence. Perhaps more surprising than his energetic entrance was that he was not dressed in his usual hooded cloak, nor armed as if ready for battle. Instead, he wore a teal Kimono adorned with waves and silver Kraken designs. And for the first time at an international festival he showed his face, pale, flawless skin, a handsome smile and strong jawline and short hickory brown hair. His bright green eyes still gleamed with power and intensity but they seemed less eerie when not peering out from behind a mask and cloak. Instead, the man was undeniably handsome, the sort of person one might see on the cover of a magazine. And in fact, in Kirigakure he was both a nobleman and a celebrity, known for being extremely reclusive citizens flocked to him for autographs back home whenever he walked about without his more intimidating attire. However, in this case there were two noteworthy items he hadn’t left out. A set of black greaves covered in ornate designs and an arrow holster at the left side of his hip, with the tip of the arrow pointing outward, slathered with a mixture of a silver and black sheen. The custom sheath extended in such a way that the majority of the arrowhead was covered so as to not haphazardly poke someone in close proximity.

Shinjiro locked eyes with Taiga first, “I’ve been…reflecting on things. Considering what is worth fighting for” he answered, looking the man over and smiling slightly. Taiga had helped him once long ago, shown him that it was possible to master the Genma and been the first foreign host he had felt some kind of bond with. “It’s good to see you three again” he said, smiling slightly as he looked between Taiga and the two pink-haired men. And then swiftly he closed the distance between himself and the newest host among them. “Karagata Shinjiro, host of Vorashu no Katagenma, of Kirigakure” he greeted, extending his charcoal black hand in greeting. “First of our order of sorts, but not the oldest host.” he said as if Kotori would have some idea of what was going on here. "There should be ten of us. I saw Hiroko outside, not sure it's worth dragging her over here. Odds are the Suna hosts didn't make it, they never last long. What of the monk?" he questioned Akihiko. The other Kumo host was the only one whose name he couldn't recall. As much as it weighed on him to lose the pair of promising Suna hosts he had known the odds of them being alive were slim. That only left Masami. Her butterfly had returned to him not long after the meeting in Steam country, but he had been unable to find information on her whereabouts. "And Masami?" he questioned, looking to Taiga and dreading the answer. She had been the oldest among them, someone who had been a host for over a decade which for a Jinchuuriki might as well have been a lifetime. Few made it past the first year or two, as evident by the current turnout. Vorashu had been right. 1 year later and half of them had died. Such was the life expectancy of a Jinchuuriki.

The flapping of might wings displaced the air around them as Taiga's eyes shot up to the sky, spotting a majestic golden eagle as Sukairaa mumbled something inaudible to his host. With more than a hunch Taiga's heart skipped a beat as his eyes watched the mighty bird peirce through the sky itself. The bird suddenly began to contort, its feathers absorbing inward as it changed it's shape in what to most would be almost a flash. To Taiga however, he watched it all as the green light of Shinjiro's familiar chakra showered Taiga as the man who had come to respect, despite their differing ideologies and allegiances, took shape before him, landing gracefully like a dancer and with an unnerving silence.

Taiga had never yet seen the man outside of his battle gear and had only ever seen brief glimpses of his face. He was handsome, a little pale as his kind were, but something that only furthered his visage as something a kin to the pale marble statues of a legendary hero. Taiga brushed his long grey hair back from his face, pulling it behind his head and tying it off in a not. His hair was considerably longer than when they last met and the bags under his eyes more pronounced, the toll the war had took on him very clear- but one Shinji could probably relate with. The pair were nigh unkillable- but the same could not be said for their comrades and those they loved. Power, as it were, only went so far.

Shooting a quick stare over to the man, he nodded his head before lowering his hand and placing them into his pockets.

“I’ve been…reflecting on things. Considering what is worth fighting for...”

Shinjiro's words tugged at all the strings within Taiga, as his emotions swelled. Memories of his fight with Shinjiro flooded his mind. Memories of the first person he could not only relate too, but held deep respect for. Something deep within him yearned for something he hadn't yet understood and yet simultaneously memories of a destroyed gate and a village in flames bubbled up to the surface. With all his might had to push back the feelings he had- those of a man whose relations conflicted with the allegiances of his countrymen. Behind the rage was something else though. A fear. A fear that one day he would have to strike out against a man he had come to care greatly for, and perhaps, that man would need to strike out against him.

Taking a brief pause to collect him self, his eyes locked onto Shinjiro as he replied in a husky, smokey voice tinged with Sukairaa's chakra, "As have I... Shinjiro". He didn't want to think of the future and all that was unclear. Nodding, he'd gently introduce himself to the rest of the group having realized he hadn't done so until Shinjiro's introduction and once everyone was acquainted would prepare himself to answer the question Shinjiro had asked.

For everything he felt for Shinjiro- there was also another. He remembered the day they accidentally crossed paths in a bath- drawn to each other by the spirits that resided within them. Stripped down to their elements and bare before each other in a wholly innocent way. Unlike Takeo, Fanho, Gene, or anyone else at the time Masami had seen Taiga for who he was, and Taiga, Masami. They shared an unspoken bond only two shinobi could at any given time in the village- that of the Jinchuuriki.

"This must never leave our ears; lest you abandon our bond and forsake my friendship." he said as he made eye contact with each host there, fully aware of the tenuous power balance the Jinchuuriki represented to world order.

Ripping the bandaid off his voice became weaker, "Masami is dead- we never found the body... we... we believe she was killed by a powerful shinobi shortly after... we all last-" The loud-mouthed, defiant, and absolutely unruly man had found himself putting his hand on his face, covering his eyes, nose, and mouth as he failed to finish his sentence, nothing but a sniffle.

Sukairaa's voice would boom into the heads of everyone there.

"The brat failed to protect yet another ally- and now one of the last of our kind is gone." he said with a venomous, rage filled tone. "Surely you all felt something- something missing in this realm, something off in the energies of the world or perhaps your senses have grown dull." Sukairaa mocked.

In his own strange way, ever-toxic way, he protected Taiga from needing to say anything more.

Kotori beamed at Akihiko and looked past him to Nishiki's entrance, admiring the newcomer's grace and elegance. He almost seemed to float into the room like the dolls in the air at his side. She waved to him as he introduced himself. His finery set him apart from the rest of the crowd; was that just him, or were all of Kirigakure's jinchuuriki like that? She opened her mouth to keep talking to Akihiko and involve the others, only for the grey-haired floor-phaser to loudly ask "which one is she", looking at her yet seemingly not addressing her. Charming. Then he turned to Nishiki to ask after someone else; clearly they knew one another already. Evidently Kotori herself didn't warrant any attention beside whatever that relationship was. It bothered her a little, but she restrained herself from showing any outward sign of it; she was new here, and alone without Hiroko. She knew nothing of these people save for the fact they were incredibly powerful jinchuuriki, and several were significantly older—and likely far more experienced—than her. Best to play nice.

So, more for Nishiki and Akihiko's benefit than the other, Kotori drew herself up, puffed out her chest, and spoke.

"I, Hachiya Kotori, am the bearer of Nolosha no Ukiyogenma, the phantom beast of Life!" And for perhaps the first time, she felt pride at the words. Not fear. Not wholly.

She'd hoped to draw some acknowledgement from the words—Nolosha warranted that much—but almost as soon as she spoke, someone else arrived. To her eyes, Shinjiro entered as little more than a green-tinged blur up until he stood before the group. Another ornate kimono, pale skin, handsome. Dangerous. And immediately he seemed to take command of the room. His movements and his voice were filled equally with a quiet self-assurance, comfortable with all eyes upon him. Kotori herself took a half step backwards, intrigue warring with terror in his presence. Should I run?
But in the next moment he was standing before her and addressing her personally, not dismissing her like the other had. He didn't even talk down to her, despite the obvious yawning chasm between their ages and experiences, but spoke to her as if they were equals. Curious.

"K-Kotori," she stammered. "Hachiya Kotori. Host of.. of Nolosha." She took his offered hand. At once a rush of warmth flowed up her arm from somewhere deep inside, and met... something else. Something sharp and fierce reaching through from Shinjiro's touch. And yet it felt... harmonious?

"Kin." Nolosha whispered in her mind, and Kotori felt the connection between the legendary beasts of Body and Life echoed in that sentiment. Their natures differed greatly, but were somehow compatible. Related. Perhaps this jinchuuriki was worth listening to, after all. The hands were released and the moment passed—though the sensation would remain etched in Kotori's mind—and Taiga finally introduced himself, perhaps taking Shinjiro's lead. His manner seemed to have changed the moment the second Kirigakure host arrived; was he on edge, faced with an enemy? Or was it something else? Respect?

Then the mood took another change as Taiga grew solemn and addressed all of them, including even her in his revelation that one of their number—and one of Shinjiro and Taiga's ilk, with time and success as a host—had died. The exact details of where, when, and how were not obvious to the young Iwagakure genin, who had not been present, but she saw the pallor creep onto the other faces in the room. Sukiraa's voice suddenly speaking within her head made her gasp with surprise, one hand reaching up to clasp her temple. It felt so foreign, so abraisive in her skull. She tried to shake the feeling free, only for her vision to double up as a splitting pain burst into her head. Without her bidding, Nolosha responded, following Sukiraa's words and also talking directly to everyone present. Kotori staggered sideways at the sensation, one hand grabbing Shinjiro's kimono for momentary support.

Death is just part of the inevitable cycle of Life. Fear not: We do not experience death like these Vessels do. Aturasu's essence remains out there still. Weak. Transitory. Wounded. Perhaps changed, but not yet lost. In one form or another, we will see his ilk again."

Her doubled vision slowly began to subside, blurriness withdrawing. She was on her knees, her body burning hot, throat dry. Her head rang with the radiance of the genma's voice. Fool. She must look a total fool. She took a deep breath and got back to her own feet, quietly releasing Shinjiro and moving away to stand by herself, hoping that the others would be too involved in the mental conversation to pay her much attention. Ototsuki be damned, she could've used Hiroko's support right about now!

Lest? Akihiko was confused by the grey haired man. Why was he talking like a transcript? Was he ancient? Akihiko continued to look around as everyone spoke their names, their village, and their genma. These people were clearly in different parts of life and stages of being a shinobi. Akihiko couldn't sense anyone particularly but based on how everyone held themselves, he could gauge the older ones might be strong... however how strong?

Aki smirked a little bit, but was caught off guard by Kotori. One second she was boastful and confident... but then she lost what seemed to be so profound. As a child himself, the pink haired delinquent was confused. What could have spooked her so much?! As the child turned his body, his eyes would gaze at Nishiki. In a passing moment, Aki would attempt to look cool. In his mind a heavy wink of his right eye followed by a finger gun with his left hand would be something that would fit that description.... right? Maybe? This didn't stop the boy, his single brain celled behavior couldn't stop as his face turned to see what spooked Kotori. Before the short child could change his facial expression and his finger gun, it changed aim to Shinjiro.

Was he still cool with a finger gun pointed at this tall man? Maybe.. but the boy quickly stopped winking. Instead of just putting his hand away, the boy swung his hand down as if to put the finger in a holster. Ryeunso couldn't help but laugh behind the mind of Aki; "Smooth boy, now lets send him to the limbo realm. He will have no idea what to do!"

Akihiko gazed at this man, like the other guy that phased below him he looked strong? At this point anyone that looked older Aki assumed was strong. The child would place both of his hands over his head and rest his head as if he was laying down. "I know I said I'm a Genin, but I'm already a living breathing legend. I can sign autographs if you want, I just ask you don't sell them on the black market." Anyone of teenage level maturity or higher could tell that the boy was simply attempting to get a rise out of someone. Would anyone take the bait?

Nishiki grinned as Taiga fully emerged, though it dimmed a little as the man's hand laid upon his shoulder but nonetheless he was still rather happy and was fully prepared to answer him when he felt the reverberations of flapping wings approaching them
Given that he simply closed his eyes and stepped aside, raising his left hand to gesture at the open air that was then suddenly displaced with a hue of green as a magnificent eagle shot in past then and began transforming before their very eyes.
"Perhaps we can hear word of his happenstance from his own mouth" the foxy man commented as he made his gesture, opening his eyes and turning his head to take in the visage of his fellow Kiri host.

Perhaps a little surprisingly the grand assassin was actually a gallant beauty much like himself but he supposed that was fitting for such a festival befitting that of elegant kimonos.
As everyone watched in awe over Shinjiro's entrance and how he commanded immediate attention, perhaps a little jealously sprung forth from the youngers with one in particular fighting to garner his own but before attention could fall upon the boy there was sad news gifted upon the elders by Taiga.
"Ah, a shame" Nishiki spoke solemnly, bowing in respect as he received the news.
"I felt a bit of a familiar connection with Asami, perhaps due to our similarities so it sad to hear of her parting"
"Makes sense now" Yoshimitsu muttered, thinking about the worldly connections the genma seemed to have.
"Actually... There is also... A new one?" the beast piped up, confused as it pushed his host's attention toward youngun begging for the attention.
"Ryeunso" the confused voice drifted within the man's mind

Nishiki then moved over to the new host of Nolosha, placing a hand on their shoulder as Taiga did his own earlier.
"Well on the opposite side of death comes life and we have the new host of Nolosha with us" he commented with a bit more cheer
"Hopefully they do well to hold up the past and prove themselves for the future"
With that he turned back towards the strange new genma host and sprang over to them with sly glee.
"Oh wow and our new comrade here as well and to think they will sign their autograph for us" he grinned with a devilish smile as he approached and clasped Akihiko's hands into his own, his nine tails spring around them as the four small elementals danced with great vigour.
"If you truly will I accept it with grace and promise never to sell, oh please usher me in your fame and glory" he spoke with great joy, at least on the front of things, shaking the boy's hands a bit too eagerly.

Whilst the Kirigakure bannin made a mockery with a grand illusory ruse, Yoshimitsu attempted to connect with Ryeunoso and perhaps the others as well.
"Ryeunoso... I feel lost upon seeing you and yet still knowing, like an old friend I can't quite remember but recall all to well... Enlighten us" the beasts words were rather authoritative and when he said "friend" he didn't truly mean it because whoever this genma was was clearly inferior to him.

The Kirigakure Bannin’s eyes lingered on Taiga for several long moments. His Konoha counterpart had become quite powerful, one of the only people to ever best him in combat. There was an undeniable bond there, a mutual respect and kinship, perhaps even the potential for something more. In many ways it was the two of them who would be looked at as leaders of their kind and an inspiration for what could be accomplished if the villages could work together. Shinjiro nodded, understanding the fear in Taiga’s gaze. Often the legendary assassin of the Karagata family considered what he would do if the Mizukage ever ordered him to kill one of his fellow Jinchuuriki. He could only imagine the same conflict resided within Taiga. But now, there was nobody above Shinjiro within Kirigakure. He felt truly unrestrained, almost untouchable. The only authority he acknowledged now was his own father, who had become the leader of the Karagata family in recent years. But beyond even the loyalty to his own family, Shinjiro had vowed to never again kill a friend or close family member, and he included each of the Jinchuuriki on par with his closest companions.

Shinjiro moved toward Kotori, making their introductions with one another, “A pleasure. Your predecessor was a remarkable woman, a true inspiration to us all” he reminisced. Kiyoshi was a true beacon of light and hope for him, an individual he held on par with his fallen friend, Zekka, as well as his cousin Yuuto. They were the good in the world that was worth fighting for. A common ground of compassion and benevolence that existed in each nation. As their hands met, Shinjiro felt the rush of warmth and radiant life force that emanated from Kotori. Of all the other Jinchuuriki, life was perhaps the one that he felt the most naturally attuned to. After all, he too could create life, even if only restricted to inhuman beasts. “I have something for you…” he started, before Taiga spoke up about something of importance. Shinjiro would turn toward to the fellow Bannin, giving the man the curtesy of his full attention.

Suddenly the air felt heavy, filled with the familiar sensation of dread. Before Taiga even spoke the words, Shinjiro knew what he was about to say. His heart sank. He had expected many to die over the course of the last year, likely each of the Suna hosts had failed as they were known to do. But he had thought Masami had overcome the greatest burden of those first few years. She had gained complete control over Atarasu and stood as the oldest host among them in their previous meeting, only a year prior. No, it would not be a loss of control that had done her in. She had been murdered. He realized this, even before the words were uttered from Taiga’s lips. “There are few shinobi strong enough to kill a Bannin, less with ambition to steal a Genma for themselves. We will find them. None of us are safe until the culprit has been eliminated” Shinjiro vowed, his hands clenched as a terrifying aura of death surged around him, and yet his voice remained cold and even in tone. He had lost loved ones so many times that his heart had grown calloused to the feeling. He had respected Masami, thought of her as a friend, and he would avenge her if possible. But he was not capable of shedding tears for her, even if he wanted to.

It was ill-timed that the youngest among them playfully pointed his fingers at Shinjiro. It seemed the gravity of the situation and the current mood was lost on the boy. Shinjiro had never seen Taiga in such a state of despair, a part of him wanted to comfort the man but he knew he was himself cold and empty when it came to feelings of loss. His comfort would do little for the man. But at the very least he could give him however long he needed to compose himself before moving on to other matters, standing in solidarity for their lost brethren. However, at Akihiko’s gesture, Shinjiro shot the pink-haired boy a look of unrestrained killing intent. He imagined ripping the boy’s finger from his hand and shoving it through his eye into his brain. In an instant, he could make it so. The slightest provocation now and he might find himself breaking his oath to Kiyoshi to protect the others. There would always be more to come should those too weak be culled. That was the Kirigakure way. This moment would likely feel like an hour to the boy, enough to make those with even the hardest wills freeze and re-think their actions. And then it would pass.

As Kotori grasped onto his Kimono the intense aura of killing intent instantly dissipated. Effortlessly propping the girl up Shinjiro sighed and observed as Nishiki and Akihiko interacted. The two were quite similar, and he recalled thinking the same thing the last time they had gathered. As Suikaira and then Nolosha spoke, Vorashu would crawl out from the depths of Shinjiro’s consciousness. ‘These humans grow bold, insolent, to strike down one of our kind. Atarasu’s presence has faded, and yet I have felt the presence of another, distant yet not unfamiliar’ the Phantom beast of Body spoke, the old Shaman’s haunting voice echoing as he spoke. Vorashu’s disdain toward humanity was palpable, tone seething with hatred and contempt. And the loss of Atarasu stung like a knife twisting into the ribs. Nolosha’s words brought some comfort. Atarasu was surely changed but not truly gone. The Genma were above mortals in such regard, their kind was not so weak and fallible.

Shinjiro observed Kotori’s reactions, realizing this was likely the first time she heard to all-consuming voices of the other Genma pounding within her head. “You’ll get used to it” he assured, nodding at her conviction as she moved to stand on her own. There was a certain strength to her, a wildness that he naturally respected. He hoped Chiaki would be able to watch over her and help the young Jinchuuriki grow into her true potential. Shinjiro nodded in agreement at Nishiki’s words as he approached Kotori. “You’re one of us now. A family united beyond the borders of the 5 nations. Keep this and remember our bond” Shinjiro stated, as he withdrew the bracelet inscribed with the number 5 written on it in Kanji. “This was Kiyoshi’s. We each have one of a different number. A sentimental trinket” he stated, flashing his own adorned with the number three before handing the other to Kotori. While most of the bracelets were golden, Shinjiro's was unique in its inky black coloration, having been infused with chakra from the soul Genma. Shinjiro scoffed as he observed the infamous celebrity that was Nishiki pander to the young boy who had only during this festival begun to make a name for himself. “You have a long way to go still Akihiko. Perhaps one day you can visit us in Kirigakure and learn how a true celebrity lives” the man offered. Both himself and Nishiki were among the wealthiest and most famous men in Water country, more famous than any athlete or musician, and constantly competing for the most desirable bachelor across Water country. They lived with as much luxury as a Daimyo but with the freedom and personal strength of a Bannin. Then turning, Shinjiro met Taiga’s gaze once more, hoping he had his moment to process his feelings. “Perhaps you could as well Taiga. Or maybe somewhere more neutral. I think we deserve a night out” he proposed. Pebble was a place of military bravado and competition, not a place of luxury and prestige. And here there were far too many eyes on them. If Bannin Jinchuuriki from opposing villages were seen enjoying a night on the town, their entire order might be compromised. Whoever was hunting them couldn't know of their alliance and neither could the Kage. But in another country, there was no telling how much closer the Jinchuuriki might become.

Nolosha stirred again as her siblings roused, reacting in varied ways to the news of Aturasu. They spoke in turn, but it was at Vorashu's input that Kotori felt a wave of emotion from the phantom beast of life. An intertwined mix of compassion and disdain. "He was always so disparaging of your kind," Nolosha whispered to Kotori alone, "never able to see that humankind could be corralled, controlled, instead of exterminated. Too single-minded, blinded by anger to the potential of man." Not for the first time, Kotori felt cold shock at the simple brutality of the thoughts. Nolosha seemed to find the aggression of Vorashu to be endearing more than anything else. Kotori only wordlessly shook her head, overwhelmed by the barrage of thoughts and emotions.

As if he too were inside her head, Shinji turned then and spoke some comforts to her. She managed a wry smirk when he suggested she'd grow accustomed to the voices. Doubtful. This can never be 'normal', but I can endure it. She shifted the disbelieving smile into a more genuine nod, then gasped as the older jinchuuriki offered her some sort of gift. A small metal band, worn but not uncared for, with a small number '5' engraved on a circular disc. What did it mean? She searched for meaning in the item, and then in Shinji's expression as he explained.

"Thank you," she murmured, not quite sure how to react. It was not every day—nor every year—that someone gave her a genuine gift. This little bracelet, she realised as she compared it to Shinji's, must mark her as one of them. One of their order, their family. Warmth flooded through her as she clasped it around a wrist, rubbing the old metal with the fingers of her other hand. Number five, out of... ten? What determines the number? Strength? Her eyes flickered to the others in the room, searching for the matching accessories. [i}Two. Seven. Nine.[/i] Did Hiroko have one? Should she deliver it, if not?

By the time Kotori drew her attention back to the room, having settled the bracelet on her wrist and tucked it beneath her sleeve, Shinji had turned away and was deep in discussion with Nishiki and Taiga once again. Kotori absently stepped away, melting backwards to stand beside Akihiko as he bantered back-and-forth with Nishiki. Again she wished Hiroko were there beside her, but strangely she no longer felt quite so alone. She was one of this eccentric group, now, and for whatever reason, they seemed to accept her. She even managed to share in one of Akihiko's smiles. In a lull in the conversation, she looked back towards the room as a whole and ventured one further question.

"Is there a way you all stay in touch, to reach one another?" She glanced down at the bracelet and shook it lightly, wondering if it held some sort of stored technique for the group. "..Do the lot of you meet like this often?" Now that she was growing to like them, she badly wanted to some lasting tie to the group, some way of knowing they were still out there for when times grew hard.

The boy looked around a little confused. Well at least until Nishiki came towards him. She was acknowledging him?!?! Wait was he serious? The boy smiled with excitement, still a green ninja and a child to understand undertones of the sarcastic and humoring persona. Usually, the boy (fueled by Ryeunso) would cause more pranks and physical humor. Never really tried to use his words or mind... unless it was creative ways to actually bother people.

With those fleeting thoughts passing away, the boy was wide eyed by the capability of the Jinch before him. Wow! He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Could the child one day be like this? Beautiful, sparkling, but most importantly talented. Aki couldn't help himself by the awe of the moment before he did a slight shake of his head to get out of the euphoric distractions Nishiki was creating. He followed his lead and shook hands as he graciously accepted his offer. "Well someone here has great taste. I would be happy to oblage." What he meant to say was oblige...

The eagerness of the handshake only fueled the sugar rush filled boy as he matched his speed. "This is so fun!!!" All the part seemed to be rolling, well at least in Aki's mind. Until a similarly deep voice spoke out to him. When Shinji addressed him, Aki almost stopped. Was this a natural reaction. Why did he all of a sudden feel funny. He would turn to the voice and Shinji was the one projecting it. With his invitation to Kiri, Aki took that and would hold his fellow Jinch to it.

"Well Well Well, you better keep your word. I would love to visit a village not many people from my own could do." He would turn back around to Nishiki and continued "We could all hang out over there!" Give a child a toy and most likely... they would play with it.

Lastly, Aki heard the noise from the slightly more timid... no maybe just a bit quieter Jinch. Katori, the one he met first at the meeting. He left Nashiki as if he was a dog that found another bone to chew. Aki smiled and agreed with Katori, but might have taken it too far. "Yes we should all be in contact at all times!" He would finish his sentence by resting his arms at his hip, with nothing more than a frustrating-to-look-at smile.

All while this was happening, Ryeunso took the call from Yoshimitsu. "Yes, unfortunately I am sealed like all of you losers. At least the kid gets in enough trouble to satisfy me. He is very easy to persuade no matter how well he has learned to contain me. Regardless, it is nice to actually speak to you and everyone else like me for a change. Being alone in that village was boring." Although Ryeunso was a trickster, he couldn't really do much with the format given to him. So he decided to talk to his fellow Genma normally.

Following Vorashu, Ryeunso actually agreed with him. "Humans should be play things and nothing else. If they are killing us or messing with us further than sealing us away... something should be done about it."

Taiga had gone quiet struggling to process the swelling of emotions within his gut whilst keeping any facade of seniority and the number 2 insignia he held in their order. He took a deep breath as two rings of smoke escaped either side of his lips as he eyed the group. More children than before even. Hardly even old enough to drink and yet how many of them would be dead in the next year?

He shook his head as he fought internally with himself- not even capable of processing Shinji's reactions and care for him. Amongst the brats was Kotori- she was weak. Too new and not even able to deal with being the genma. He watched as she nearly feinted, tugging on Shinjiro's kimono. Rage filled his heart at the words of Nolosha. Oh how wise she believed her self to be. What did she know? And as the rage seethed up, his eyes darted to the newest, pink-haired brat from Kumogakure. His hand twitched with the desire to slap the kids shit eating grin off his face, and he nearly muttered under his breath,

Oh boy, Kumogakure's sixteenth new host in a decade!

But he stopped. He stopped himself as his eyes again drifted back to Kotori- so helpless, yet propped up and helped by Shinji a man who had no mercy in the way of nature. Taiga's head fell down to his hands as he tossed his hair about and pressed against his weary, tired face.

These children where kin. Little siblings who needed him. Who might not have truly understood nor known the weight of the journey they were on yet. Taiga's eyes longingly looked to Shinjiro in his time of need as he gave him a nod following a glance that said all that needed to be said between the two men.

With a deep breath Taiga spoke.

"I think you're wrong and lacking quite a bit of nuance, Ryeunsasburo, was it?" he said with a slithe snark that caused Sukairaa to chuckle. Though the Earth Genma had a nasty personality, he had generally sided with humanity and been one of the more neutral Genma. "Maybe the fact we can seal you into us for a milenia should show you we aren't just toys." Taiga said as his eyes locked on the pair, with an intent unknown.

"Yeah, be the human sympathizer at a Genma meet up Taiga, genius. Sure to make us real popular." Sukairaa chastised, Taiga ignoring him.

"If you spent less time looking down on humans you might become better at fighting them." Taiga railed on, but then paused as he walked over, putting a hand on the other side of Kotori and helping her up. Shinji was far more than enough- but it wasn't for stability but the symbolism of the action.

"Seems like a far more interesting challenge to see if all this power we think we could have could make the world a better place..." Taiga said as he nodded to Shinji off in a direction, recommending they go. He'd cast transformation technique, masking himself as nothing more than any old merchant.

"We do- we have these pendants we can get you Kotori. It'll let you stay in contact with us all... and we'll need it. It's our duty as Jinchuuriki to lead man, not destroy them." Taiga said aloud, as his eyes passed between each member of the group. He'd make sure no one else wound up how Masami did... though something deep down ached at his heart. The drums of war were beating...

And who exactly was his real family?
