Flowers for Granny
Hanako was starting to think she didn’t like festivals. There was too much going on, and she couldn’t focus on anything. The fact of the matter was it was much too busy, and she was trying to focus on everything at the same time, which meant that she would end up focusing on nothing instead. The girl from the small quiet town of Hanamura had experienced city life in the capital city of Kumogakure, the Lightning Empire, but at the same time there was something peaceful and serene about the tower-like buildings that they used there. Climbing up to the top had been a safe place for her. Here it felt like there was nowhere to hide. The land of Pebbles was a place that was much too small for such a grandiose of a festival. The streets had nearly no where to walk, and the walls of the buildings seemed to stretch and warp as if they struggled to contain the people. This was an exaggeration of course, but with Hanako’s perception, that was the reality.

Her time in the land of stars had done wonders to her physique. Though she was still petite, Hanako had grown stocky with powerful muscles. Fighting Dinosaurs for a living would do that to a person. So here she was, a girl, barely a woman with strong arms and legs holding her hands to her ears because she thought it was too loud as she walked on the side of a building. She didn’t care about being sneaky at the moment, though it was very much apparent that the girl was a kunoichi from her manner of dress. A One piece skin tight suit with bandage wrappings around her legs and arms. Certainly wasn’t the kind of garb that samurai wore. Leaping from one building to another while side ways was a curious task in logistics that earned her a fair amount of comments, though she paid them little heed as she had her ears covered.

Finally something caught her attention. It was flower shop - a bastion of calm and serenity in the sea of chaos that was the festival. Hanako jumped down from her sideways perch and walked over to the flower shop with her hands still covering her head. People naturally stepped aside for the odd girl as she stood in front of this place and gazed up at its sign with curiosity. There was a stall on the outside of the shop with flowers set up in bouquets for the festival. Hanako approached and look down at them. There was something here for her, she could feel it, but these bouquets were not what she was looking for. She looked up from the flowers and gazed around.

Nozomi was currently wandering around the festival looking for people to train her in jutsu or train with her. To her festivals seemed like a waste of time if people had time to waist on stuff like this couldn’t they be more productive instead? Do so much people really just feel like waisting time like this and being lazy? Though as she pondered this as she looked around while wandering the festival a thought occurred to her. Maybe this is just pebbles way of making money? By having there peoples make and staff these festivals to trick people into giving up the money they have.

Though she wondered why it was so crowded. Do all these people have money to waist? Or was her theory wrong and they were just lazy and unproductive. She decided to shelve that question for later, as she looked around she saw a flower shop which she entered curiously , wondering if it was just a normal useless flower shop or if there was something useful or interesting here. Though soon after she did she would see Hanako approaching fast before entering.

She would then wave hello going “hello Hanako…. Where’s Chiaki sensei? Is she not with you?”

The flower shop was of the mundane, non-ninja variety. It was true that this place was hardly worth two thoughts, and Hanako herself would probably look this place over as well if it wasn’t for the strange way that the sounds inside the building seemed so far off now. Hanako still had her hands on her ears as she approached the door to the flower shop. She was trying to figure out how to open the door while still holding her hands over her ears when she looked up and saw Nozomi already instead. The pair of girls had sparred in the Land of Starrs under the tutelage of the shinobi of Kintsugi. It made sense to Hanako why the poison cloud girl would be here. Plants often were poisonous. Hanako still couldn’t help but flash back to the time she had battled against her. Those deadly clouds were impossible to escape unless one were to run at full speed. It had been a battle of attrition from the start, and considering the body make up of Nozomi, Hanako had been destined to lose back then.

Now she met Nozomi again, not as a sparring partner, but as a person entering the same shop. Hanako lowered her head so that she could keep her hands on her ears and pressed her elbow to the door. With the Wall walking technique she stuck the door to her elbow and then slipped inside. In the brightly lit interior it would become apparently to Nozomi how much physical development that Hanako had been through in the previous days. ”Hello.” Hanako answered rather bluntly, having not heart Nozomi's greeting on account of having her hands over her ears. On account of her ears being covered still she hadn’t heard anything that Nozomi had said. This was the true Hanako - the odd ball girl with no common sense. This was the one who frequently was hide behind the exterior of a kunoichi with a no nonsense attitude and no hesitation for the kill. She looked at Nozomi with her usual demeanor, that being one of dispassion. Suddenly Hanako’s face lit up.

”I will buy a flower for Granny.”

Nozomi Would notice Hanako covering her ears and sigh being unable to have a conversation with her when she was like that. She would point to her ears then Hanako’s to see if she would stop covering her ears so she could be heard. It was a rather tricky conundrum that she would have to solve. If that didn’t work she would try mouthing the words moving only her lips. Maybe if she saw someone she thought was talking but couldn’t hear the words it would make her agree to take her hands off her head.

She was curious about why Chiaki sensei wasnt here but she wasn’t so interested that she would put up with this nonsense for too long.

Hanako looked back at Nozomi’s exasperated face. The girl pointed at her own ears and then at Hanako’s. It took Hanako a moment to process, but she eventually tentatively removed her hands from over her ears. Slowly at first, and then with more confidence. Good, it was weirdly quiet inside of the store, the chaos of the festival. ”can you hear me now?” Hanako asked Nozomi. It didn’t actually make any sense to her that Nozomi wouldn’t be able to hear while Hanako was covering her own ears, but then Nozomi’s expressions and gestures seemed to indicate as much. For Nozomi’s benefit Hanako decided to repeat herself. ”I will buy a flower for Granny.” She huffed proudly at her decision and put her hands on her hips as she made the announcement.
