• Political Affiliation: As a sensible youth growing up in the country Roku found himself with the political leanings of a balanced progressive. Socially Roku desires for the world to operate as a wholly unified community, under one government. He also believes that commerce is the cornerstone of a nation and that trade is essential for a nation to be powerful enough to lead the world. Growing up in an uneducated village Roku staunchly protected education reform.
• Guild: Despite his commitment to the Heart Empire as a samurai, Roku had made some fine contributions to the Fishermans Guild of Tea. He often explores rives and beaches that most would not dare to go, using his natural armor and fine luck to carry him where most could not go. With knowledge of great fishing spots Roku has led several fishing trips and the parties have notably returned home with an exceptional haul of fish.
• Occupation: While he was training to be a samurai Roku worked with a crafts man but he never picked up the skill. Since his skills could feed him Roku has always loafed around, fishing and fighting. Sometimes fucking when his wife traveled with him. As a fisherman Roku has talent and his undeniably good luck helps him reel in big fish after big fish.
• Greatest Achievement: Even though he considers himself a skilled, and lucky, fisherman Roku has yet to make a great catch worth putting on his wall. He has a lot of fishes on his wall, but none are the great catch he is looking for.
• Favorite Foods: With a natural born immunity to the poison of the puffer fish Roku has always enjoyed catching one from the sea for a delicious supper of fugu.
• Most Hated Food: As a pescatarian Roku refuses to eat pork, beef, lamb, chicken and various other non-fish proteins, but he will eat dairy. His most hated of all foods is anything lamb. The smell of lamb cooking is enough to make Roku start gagging.
• Preferred Season: Born during the summer Roku is partial to warm, late night breezes next to freshwater ponds.
• Favorite Hobby: Growing up Roku always found himself alone and hungry. One day in an effort to cure his hunger the boy picked up a fishing rod and began a lifelong passion for fishing.
• Hopes/Dreams: As a fisherman Roku hopes to catch the great Namazu, a giant catfish that is said to swim under the earths crust through the mud and create unimaginable earthquakes.
• Fears: Despite being a strong, tough man Roku fears getting sick from disease like his mother did when he was a child. When he is sick he is a big baby and he fears that someone would take advantage of such a weakness.

• Combat Mentality: Roku famously leads off battles with a torrential rainfall and by utilizing the water he creates he overwhelms his opponent with Suiton. His signature Great White Bomb often leads his attack but Roku is also skilled with Yoshijutsu, the art of utilizing Hideoyoshi as a fishing pole. As a strategist Roku aims to fight his battles for the long haul and capitalize on his enemies mistakes. Using the heavy downpour of his Great White Rainfall jutsu as cover he stealthily hones in on his opponent. Roku depends on his scale armor to protect him in battle and gets furious if his white flesh is exposed to his enemy. Roku loves to see his opponent tore up by his fishing hook.

Abilities and Concentrations

Abilities
First Ability	Tailed Umihada The user’s permanently takes on the characteristics of a shark. Their entire body is covered from head toe in hard, durable scales that are locked tightly against one another and act as an armor with [Endurance] Strength. These scales are incredibly sharp and give the user a passive grinding ability. These scales will protect the user until broken, however underneath their skin is quite soft, giving a -5 [Endurance] until the scales are repaired. (Usually the entirety of the thread.) These scales are broken off by any overpowering physical contact. The user also has three rows of sharp pointed teeth. They have a natural Lateral Line across their spine, meaning when in contact with water they are sensitive to electronic signals and can pick up their location, 3 Metres per [Endurance] to anything else in physical contact with the water. The user can breathe under water indefinitely, their pupils can also dilate at will increasing how much light and darkness they take in allowing the user able to see in even the darkest of areas. The user has also grown a tail covered in scales. Passive (Grinding)Show 1-14 Strength Requirement: Minor scrapes and cuts, minor bleeding. 15-24 Strength Requirement: Scrapes, removal of skin, moderate bleeding. 25-34 Strength Requirement: Removal of upper muscle, heavy bleeding. 35+ Strength Requirement: Grinding of flesh, removal of deep tissue, profuse bleeding. 45+ Strength Requirement: Grinding of flesh, removal of deep tissue, profuse bleeding, muscle and bone.
Second Ability	Unique among the Shuryo people it is said that some shark skin's are born with an advanced healing factor gifted by the very god of the Shuryo people. Said to be gifted to lucky Shuryo by the Spirit of the Sea, this regeneration factor comes at a heavy price; in return for a robust vital force the Spirit of the Sea takes some of the Shuryo's chakra while still in the womb, resulting in a -5 Chakra Pool.
Third Ability	Forced by the hand of chance Roku has been bound to the Soldier of Fortune and has a bright gold chakra color. The Warrior Spirit appears to Roku as his preferred weapon of choice, a golden, glowing fishing pole. The fishing pole is composed of chakra and can be materialized at will. It is 1.5 meters long and appears to be made out of bamboo. Tied to the tip of the pole is 30 meters of wire with a 1/2 inch fishing hook at the end. TransformationsShow Base Stage: 0 Mastery +3 Chakra Pool always active (this counts against your max stat total) Stage 1: 7 Mastery +5 Chakra Pool At this stage Roku glows with a faint golden chakra aura. Also Roku's fishing pole gains the ability to extend Control/2 meters with [Control] Speed and Strength. Stage 2: 17 Mastery +7 Chakra Pool, +3 Speed At this stage Roku develops a chakra armor in the form of Hideoyoshi's golden, glowing mercenary armor. This armor has [Control] Strength. Stage 2 Ascended: 27 Mastery +7 Chakra Pool, +5 Speed At this stage Roku gains the ability to use the aforementioned powers of his transformations in Base Stage. Stage 3: 37 Mastery +7 Chakra Pool, +7 Speed, +3 Strength. At this stage the armor that Roku forms out of his chakra also has the grinding passive of Roku's sharkskin. The strength of this grinding is equal to the Control stat. Stage 4: 47 Mastery +7 Chakra Pool, +7 Speed, +7 Strength At this stage Roku gains the ability to multiply Hideoyoshi's fishing line by Control/5 amount of hooks. Stage 4 Ascended: 50 Mastery +7 Chakra Pool, +7 Speed, +7 Strength, +4 Endurance. At this stage Roku gains the ability to use all the powers of his transformations in Base Stage.

Concentrations
Ninjutsu	Suiton Affinity A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive Replenishing effect. Passive (Replenishing)Show Suiton's effect is replenishing, this means that suiton jutsu passively repair themselves when damaged, at no additional cost to the user. The rate of repairing itself is 1/3 [Strength] per post. This only works for the length of the technique, so maintaining the damage to Suiton until the jutsu expires will stop it from regrowing. Raiton A character with this concentration is able to utilize Raiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Raiton affinity. Raiton has a shocking effect. Passive (Shocking)Show Raiton has the effect of shocking, which means causes it's effect to be diffuse upon impact. In organic material, this causes nervous stimulation which results in numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, and sometimes paralysis. In inorganic material, this means that the strength of the jutsu diffuses across an area 2x the size of the attack. In a jutsu that creates a lightning ball 2m in diameter, if it struck a wall the size of the attack would cover a 4m area. Additionally, the strength of the nervous effect on organic material from raiton jutsu is determined by the Strength stat range they fall into. 1-10 Strength Requirement: Localised numbness and muscle spasms for 1 post 11-20 Strength Requirement: Diffuse numbness and spasms for 1 post 21-30 Strength Requirement: Localised paralysis for 1 post 31-39 Strength Requirement: Diffuse paralysis for 1 post 40+ Strength Requirement: Diffuse paralysis for 2 posts Doton Affinity A character with this concentration is able to utilize Doton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the doton affinity. Doton has a passive enduring effect. Passive (Enduring)Show Doton has a passive effect of Endurance, which means that it's power is retained throughout the entirety of the jutsu. All of a single doton jutsu retains the strength of the jutsu, even after the jutsu has been destroyed, and unlike other jutsu, doton does not fade when destroyed. This means that if a doton barrier with 25 strength is cut in half and falls to the ground, a part of that barrier could be picked up and carried as a hand held shield which would still have 25 strength, despite being a fractured part of a jutsu. This creates incredibly potent defenses, making doton a popular affinity among defensive fighters. Fuuton Affinity A character with this concentration is able to utilize Fuuton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Fuuton affinity. Fuuton has an cutting effect. Passive (Cutting)Show Fuuton has a natural cutting property to it, that exists in all jutsu unless otherwise stated. This gives fuuton a unique opportunity to strike with additional power, and to act as a offensive defense. Regardless of their purpose fuuton jutsu passively cut with no distinct pattern at 1/2 the strength of the technique rounded down unless otherwise stated. This means if someone punched a 20 strength fuuton wall, they would get cuts on their hand applied with 10 strength. This also means that fuuton jutsu specifically designated to cut things can create devastating wound by essentially striking twice. Katon Affinity A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect. Passive (Ignition)Show Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own. Additionally, Katon jutsu have a Burning effect, and burn anyone they come in contact with with [Control] strength. This user has superb chakra control, and has learned to perform jutsu by channeling, without the use of hand seals. The user can channel any Ninjutsu that is designed to be channeled, and there are no specified parameters in which a jutsu must fall to be channeled by this method. Sensor Sensors are shinobi who are able to activate a sixth sense which can locate and read chakra sources. Sensory is advantageous as it allows shinobi to perceive without using any of their conventional senses, which can easily be deceived. Sensors are able to collect a lot of information through the interpretation of this sixth sense.
Taijutsu	The fundamental skill of [Alternative Weaponry] indicates the user's proficiency with rare, uncommon, or otherwise non-standard weapons that aren't typically grouped under other concentrations. This could be anything like Staves, Axes, Spears, Nunchakus, Shields, etc. The fundamental skill of [Close Quarters Combat] indicates the user's proficiently to efficiently utilize martial arts and advanced combat moves involving the body for example but not limited to, adv kicks, grapples, adv punches, etc. The fundamental skill of [Rigid Structure] describes the user’s ability to adeptly position and lock in their skeletal structure to efficiently absorb blows with minimal damage to their person. This facilitates their use of related Taijutsu. The fundamental skill of [Stealth] describes the user’s proficiency in remaining silent, unseen and unnoticed as they go about tasks. This facilitates their use of related Taijutsu.

Warrior Spirit: HideoyoshiShow

The Soldier of Fortune, Hideoyoshi holds domain over the Serendipity Field, a mystical convergence of spiritual energy that dictates ones chances in the world. Everything from how often one forgets their keys at home to whether or not a bird shits on ones head is dictated by luck, fortune, misfortune, it goes by many names. The Serendipity Field is mysterious and only ancient spirits of a select variety know about it, and even less can influence it. Hideoyoshi was always lucky, and as luck would have it he possesses a one of a kind power. By binding to a host Hideoyoshi can pass on this power to his partner.

Yoshijutsu is cast by channeling chakra into Hideoyoshi and directing ones will toward a certain happenstance. This can be used for countless effects in battle and depending on how the Yoshijutsu effects one depends on whether or not it is a ninjutsu or taijutsu. It is not strictly categorized though and all Yoshijutsu fall under the same pyramid. The Serendipity Field does not interact with Genjutsu as illusions are controlled and luck is absent from the actual glamour of Genjutsu. However using taijutsu and ninjutsu, genjutsu triggers can be achieved with remarkable success.

While holding Hideoyoshi in his hands Roku will begin channeling chakra into the fishing pole and then cast their line at a target. As the line flies through the air a mysterious chance of wind will gust through and send the fishing line scattering in an unpredictable, yet fortunate, pattern. The line will tangle up the opponent if it is not avoided.

While holding Hideoyoshi in his hands Roku will begin channeling chakra into the fishing pole and assume an evasive stance by bending at the knees and holding his fishing pole defensively in front of him. Without any concentration Roku will be able to effortlessly get out of the way of any attacks, Hideoyoshi's fortune guiding his movements like a sailer bobbing on the deck. Anyone with greater Speed than Roku will be able to outclass his luck,

Yoshijutsu • Reel Shield
D-Rank Yoshijutsu Maneuver
While holding Hideoyoshi in his hands Roku will begin channeling chakra into the fishing pole and block an attack. Thanks to his miraculous luck if Roku deflects a projectile with his fishing pole he will send it flying back at the opponent as if he had thrown it.

Yoshijutsu • Fish Off!
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
While holding Hideoyoshi in his hands Roku will begin channeling chakra into the fishing pole and throw the line forward at their target. The hook will soar miraculously through the air at the target, dodging any deterrents and even altering it's course by 90 degree's to catch it's target. Upon hitting the target the hook will sink into their flesh and then rip out of their flesh leaving a wicked 1/2 inch long, shallow gash that bleeds minorly.

Yoshijutsu • Unfortunate Slip of the Finger

Once the target has been touched by Hideoyoshi Roku will channel his chakra into the fishing pole. This jutsu can be prolonged for 3 posts with a cooldown equal to the length used. The targets hands will begin to glow a yellow gold. Thanks to the luck of Hideoyoshi the first jutsu the target uses while their hands glow fails. By horrible misfortune and despite all of their training something will come up in the middle of their hand seals and their technique will fail on the first try.

Yoshijutsu: Perfect Angle Angel
C-Ranked Yoshijutsu Stance
The user holds Hideoyoshi and channels their chakra into their weapon. As long as they are channeling chakra they are able to block attacks at a perfect angle. No matter where the point of attack comes from the user is able to block the attack and protect their body so long as their hand is on Hideoyoshi and they have Speed equal to or higher than the attack,. Thanks to the spiritual source of this stance, any projectile blocked by this stance fires back at the target with the same Speed and Strength as it initially had. Any attack with greater Speed than the user will be unable to be blocked by this stance. Likewise attacks with greater Strength or [Control] cannot be blocked successfully either.

Yoshijutsu: Atchew!

The user must have established contact with the target using Hideoyoshi in the last post. By channeling chakra into Hideoyoshi a stat check of users Control vs Targets Willpower occurs. If the user wins, the luck of the target is changed and a gust of wind unfortunately enters their nose. They sneeze in their next post.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will spray water created from the inside of their chest through their mouth. Once the water is expelled, it will form an umbrella shape that is concave to the user and about two meters in diameter. This defense is somewhat solid and can be formed in any direction the user can spit, up to 10 meters away. The defense is shot at [Control] Speed and has [Control] Strength and unless completely destroyed it lasts for three posts before falling lifelessly to the ground.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will blow a fist sized bubble. The bubble will fly toward the target up to 10 meters with [Control] Speed and Strength, exploding upon hitting a solid surface or reaching it's maximum distance from the user. This bubble lasts for 3 posts.

After performing the correct hand seals the user shoots a torrent of water from their mouth towards an opponent up to 10 meters away at [Control] Speed and Strength. If it hits it will knock the opponent back 5 meters.

After channeling chakra into their hands the user will fire two jets of water from their hand, essentially hurling and propelling themselves in the opposite direction of their jets at [Control] Speed and Strength.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will summon the water around them to collect around their waist. While this jutsu lasts the user can perform a Kai to fire three senbon forward 10 meters at [Control] Strength and Speed. This jutsu lasts for 3 posts or until the user has fire 6 senbon.

After performing the correct hand seals the user expels three (3) 2-centimeter diameter droplets of water from their mouth in quick succession, each of which explode with [Control] Strength on impact, scattering water all over the immediate area. These droplets fly up to 25 meters away at [Control] Speed.

After performing the correct hand seals the user forms a shark out of the moisture in the air 10 meters from them. The shark is 2 meters long and has [Control] Speed and Strength. After performing the correct hand seals the user creates 3 sharks out of the moisture in the air 10 meters from them. The sharks are each 2 meters long and have [Control] Speed and Strength. Once they have been created, the user can launch the sharks towards a target at [Control] Speed and Strength. The water sharks fly toward their target(s) and can change direction by 90 degrees once each in a range of 40 meters to chase them down. The shark can explode with [Control] Strength in a blast range of 10 meters and cover the ground with water. This jutsu lasts for 5 posts before the sharks explode.

After performing the correct hand seals the user creates a dragon head of water. Once it has been created, the user can launch the three-meter diameter projectile towards a target at [Control] Speed and Strength for up to 40 meters. Following the head is a long body and tail, stretching nearly six-meters. During the course of it's travel, the user may alter the course of the dragon three times, allowing it to complete a U-turn per alteration.

After performing the correct hand seals the user forms a shark out of the moisture in the air 10 meters from them. The shark is 2 meters long and has [Control] Speed and Strength. This jutsu lasts for 7 posts before the shark collapses into a pile of water.

With a clap of their hands the water will begin to violently merge at a single focal point in the air within 50 meters of the user with [Control] Strength and Speed, carrying whatever is enveloped by the water. In the next post the water will have created a massive sphere of rotating water 50 meters in diameter. This water has [Control] Strength and will trap victims inside of it with strong currents. This jutsu lasts for 5 posts or with a series of hand seals it's length can be extended by 3 posts.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will summon white clouds to form 100 meters in the air above them. The clouds will begin to pour down a torrential rainfall of water infused with the users chakra. The water will saturate the ground quickly with chakra infused water that stops the natural absorption process of the ground. Rain will collect on the ground quickly in a 150 meter radius. While the rain is falling visibility and hearing is limited by 2 meters, unless the victim possesses sensory techniques of equal rank. This jutsu lasts for 7 posts. There will be so much water pouring down throughout the jutsu that it will collect 6 inches above the ground by the end of the jutsu. This rain will not soak into the ground for the remainder of the thread and requires a Control check to be used for jutsu not performed by the original caster.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will coat a weapon they are holding in Raiton electricity for 5 posts. This causes the shock effect to be produced on any contact with a target, while also granting blunt weapons the ability to cut through skin to produce shallow wounds. This also works for thrown weapons, however if the projectile remains out of contact with the user for more than 2 posts the technique will dissipate early.

After the correct hand seals are performed, the user coats themselves in a thick layer of lightning. This armour of lightning forms near instantly and requires [Control] Strength to break. During this time, the user's physical strikes apply the Raiton shocking effect.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will channel Raiton chakra to two of their fingers. They will then be able to fire up to three total bullet sized balls of concentrated lightning from their fingertips. These bullets will travel at [Control] speed, but will not have any physical force. Instead, they will apply light electrical burns similar to a sun burn and will apply Raiton's shocking effect.

Born on a warm night in the middle of summer Roku was welcomed into the world by his single mother. It was a day of great joy for the woman. The man who had given her a miracle child was conscripted to fight in the battle for Shark Country. Isamu Shuryo was a strong warrior who many people knew of in their small village and his hand was desperately needed in the fight to keep Shark Country in the control of it's native inhabitants. He left for battle without knowing he had a son soon to be born, and he would never return home to meet Roku. Thankfully the shark boy would grow up to be loved and appreciated by his mother. Sora Shuryo was a highly renowned fisherwoman in the village and she was determined to raise her boy right.

Growing up Roku proved to be a smart lad. He knew his name in just weeks of being born and from there he was on a roll. Walking and talking quickly were charactistic of a genius and Roku's intellect was not shy of astounding. The boy picked up on everything like a sponge and as he got older he began to take a worldly view of life. Roku, like his mother, was fascinated by fishing and would spend as much of his time as he could trying to prove to Sora that he was a better fisherman than she was. While his mother was impressed by the little blue boys endeavors, Roku never did feel like he proved his skill to his mother.

When Roku was nine years old his mother fell ill of a terrible scale disease called Selachiderma. It was a fast moving disease that would shed all of her scales from her body leaving exposed, damaged flesh. Sora wasn't expected to live long after her scales fell off, and she didn't. Roku was orphaned before he hit double digits and nothing in the boys heart could soothe the pain he felt losing his mother. As a kid without a father Roku was alike many of the young boys he met in his small village in Tea Country. Many boys fathers were killed or taken prisoner in the war and Roku felt solace knowing he wasn't alone. To be stricken without a mother though broke the young boys heart.

Tending to the home by himself Roku found a way to deal with his grief by practicing his cast with a fishing pole. He would stand in his front yard for hours at a time, casting and flicking his fishing hook at glass bottles. It wasn't until Roku actually started hitting his mark that he realized he had an incredible talent. While he always knew he was a good fisherman Roku was completely amazed when, with diligent practice, he began cutting up the glass bottle with his fishing hook. For the first time in his life Roku began dreaming about something that he couldn't quite conceive; Roku dreamed of battle.

One day while Roku was fishing he was accosted by two young men. They were a couple years older than Roku and he recognized them. They were both bullies who picked on kids in the village, stealing their ryo and even their clothes. They were wretched teenagers and Roku knew he was in trouble when they called to him at the river. "Roku!" One said to him. "Come here!" With a heavy sigh Roku resolved to walk over to the bullies but for some reason he kept his fishing pole with him.

Standing there Roku listened to the two kids try to push him over. They demanded all of his catches from the day, but Roku couldn't do it. He had accrued some debt with a local fish monger for some food and there was no way he was going to spoil his reputation. "I can't do it, not today come ba-" Roku told the boys but he was suddenly cut off by a sharp twack from a stick the biggest boy was wielding. The stick broke Roku had been hit so hard and the young teenager stumbled back. The bully came at him with the broken stick but Roku was ready this time. He parried the stab of his opponents stick with his fishing pole and wacked the bully on the neck. The kid hit the ground. The other bully started screaming and ran away from the scene, but the deed was done. For the first time in his life Roku experienced combat and he was hooked.

For the next year Roku Shuryo began practicing his martial arts. He was already talented with whipping his hook around and he showed some promise with using his pole as a club. Roku wanted to expand on these skills and he did what he thought was best, he trained studiously against trees in woods nearby the village. Next to his childhood home was a small river and just south of that was a little woodland where he could bang his pole against trees all day long without disturbing anybody. Roku practiced with all his might and he began to show true promise.

One day while he was visiting the village he lived in Roku was approached by several samurai. They were from Xingcha and offering to recruit trainee's for the Doushikai Academy. They claimed to profit from a life of peace with the blade and Roku found that concept tantalizing. Since training his body he found the nations samurai to be fine examples of what was capable of the human body. Roku yearned to push himself to the limits and he was easily convinced by the samurai to learn the art of bushido. Roku left his village that day leaving behind everything he had ever known in order to pursue the way of the warrior.

At first Roku's tenacious will to learn pushed him through all of the classes that were necessary for him to become a Tanenseibushi. He studied hard and despite the negging from his senpai to wield a more battle efficient weapon Roku passed the necessary tests with flying colors and became an official samurai for Heart. For the next year he would be stationed in the capital city of Xingcha and function as a guard for a royal family. Roku was among twelve other specially chosen samurai for the guard position and among all of them he had the most skill with ninjutsu. By this age Roku was an avid collector of ninjutsu scrolls and with practice he had developed a formidable utilization of ninjutsu in battle. Roku stayed on this guard without any scene for exactly 14 months before he would be up for promotion.

For his promotion Roku would have to endure several tests. First was the physical aptitude analysis which detailed Roku's statistical strengths and weaknesses. He did exceedingly well in all categories and was determined to be incredibly healthy. For the next series of tests Roku was subjected to mental fortitude analysis. He was placed under moderate torture situations and proved to be an incredibly sound minded samurai, not spilling any forbidden knowledge or national security. He was also given several tests to determine his IQ, critical thinking, sleep deprivation ability and public speaking capacity. He did well in all categories except public speaking which he scored a C-.

After the physical and mental exams were given Roku was placed on administrative leave officially. He was given 3 years to travel to the various nations of Tea including Gold, River and Waterfall countries and familiarize himself with the residents of his nation. It was expected that he would take on a full leadership position in the samurai nation and to do his best he was given the chance to build relationships with the people of his nation. Roku was honored to travel the world and learn about the various cultures that comprised his nation. Since becoming a samurai Roku evolved from just a country fisherman to a worldly warrior of peace, and he was very proud of himself.

When Roku returned he was nearly eighteen years old and he had learned much of the world. He became well versed in the customs of various people around Tea and he proved to be a polite, thoughtful samurai. Roku also proved to be a staunch defender of the weak. He always proved to hold out his best arm for those in need and as he returned home to Xingcha he brought with him a reputation. The fisherman was heralded in the city as a savior of many unfortunate folk and with this reputation came his promotion. The higher ranked samurai were grateful to give Roku his position as a full fledged samurai of Heart.

For several years Roku traveled in and out of the capital city on missions for the samurai of Xingcha. Roku became known as a helpful man and people would often spot him out of the crowd with his blue skin and ask him for favors. He was known as an arm of the people and he felt good about fortuneate life of helping others. One day while home from a mission Roku was chopping up some tomatoes to put in a burrito and there was a knock at the door. Roku set the knife he was wielding down and walked over tot he door. Smiling he answered the door to a small, dirty, brown haired boy. "I have a package for y-you. A-a thanks from an anonymous a-a-admirer." The boy had a stutter and he seemed shy but Roku simply smiled warmly his way and nodded. It was common to receive thank you's from all the work he did for the people. Usually there was a name to it but Roku wasn't disturbed in the slightest. The boy handed him a long, skinny package that was somehow hiding behind his frail figure. "Welp, 'ere ya go." Roku grasped the remarkably heavy package and before he could ask the boy how he was able to hold it the boy ran off. Roku just chuckled at the seemingly shy, dirty, little boy and headed into his living room to open his gift. He was hungry, but curiosity was getting the better of him.

Sitting on his sofa Roku had the box on his coffee table. The box was about one and half meters long and remarkably skinny. If Roku had ever seen a boxed fishing pole he would have known what was in it, but instead he just opened the box up. To his surprise there was a glowing, golden fishing pole waiting for Roku to pick up. He was most pleased when he saw it and shouted out with joy. The fishing pole was certainly made of the finest ingredients. It was a bamboo pole that was one solid, straight piece and for the line it looked to be fancy steel wire. Roku couldn't believe how specialized the fishing pole was. Almost no one understood his style of combat, but it seemed someone had tailor made this fishing pole for Roku. He was amazed, but the truly mystical and awe inspiring moment came next when the Blue Tailed Best reached into the box and grabbed the glowing fishing pole.

As Roku's scaly blue hand touched the fishing pole the golden glow became more illustrious. His whole room lit up in the golden shine and then as Roku was taking in the brilliance a mysterious voice boomed through his house. The voice was of a man's and he spoke with a strange accent. The man spoke with a familiar accent as some of those of the rural villages in Tea Country. "And so it begins!" The mysterious voice called out to Roku. He was sure why but Roku just knew the voice was talking to him, and as the echo of his empty house filled his ears Roku began feeling a surge of power flow from his fingertips that were touching the fishing pole and into his body. He let out a gasp for air and tried to withdraw his hand but instead he gripped the fishing pole in the box. "Do not fight it young Shuryo. We are destined to be side by side. Hahaha." The voice laughed a hearty laugh and the glowing began to fade away. Roku was able to pull his hand from the fishing pole but as he did it vanished into thin air.

Now the voice spoke again but this time it was inside of Roku's mind. He was quite unnerved by that fact but he was still bewildered by what was going on so he didn't have too much faculty available to process the happenings. "I am Hideoyoshi the Soldier of Fortune. I am a warrior spirit bound to this Earth by my misdeeds in life. By chance you have been chosen to wield my mighty arm. Now, you know me. Tell me who I am bound to. What is your name, fool?" Hideoyoshi had a cocky sort of confidence about him as he addressed Roku.

Staring into the empty box Roku was at a loss for what had just happened. He was staring away when the spirit rudely coughed as if to suggest that Roku answer him now. Roku pulled his finger to his chin and began scratching. He was thinking what he would say to the Warrior Spirit and as he thought about he noticed that the sound his scales were making from being scratched indicated they were very dry. That was when it occurred to Roku that Hideoyoshi had known what clan the Blue Tailed Best belonged to. For some reason that triggered Roku's brain to come up with a response to the spirit and he said it aloud. "I am Roku. I am a samurai for Tea Country and I serve the people of my nation as a defender of the modern ideals. I am a fisherman, and I have yet to catch my big catch. I hope to be married one day, and... wait a minute Hideoyoshi. What kind of misdeeds are we talking about here?" Roku suddenly realized this spirit could be some evil doer. He would certainly not work with a dark spirit like that, using his arms or anything like that was out of the question.

The Warrior Spirit laughed again at Roku. The heartiness of the laugh seemed to suggest that Hideoyoshi quite enjoyed laughing at Roku's expense. "I lived my life as a greedy mercenary. I killed, stole and raided whenever the coin called to me. I.. am not proud of that." Hideoyoshi sounded much more solemn than when he was laughing . Roku could tell the spirit took his death very seriously. "Now that I have been given a second chance I wish to make up for my misdeeds. Can you respect my wishes Roku?" Hideoyoshi seemed to be requesting Roku's aid.

The shark man nodded. "I can, and I will Hideoyoshi." Roku stood back up. "I was just about to eat, why don't you join me?" Roku laughed. Though he wasn't sure of the specifics he was pretty sure that the binding of the spirit to him was complete and Hideoyoshi had little choice in whether or not he would join Roku. They shared a body now and Roku was determined to make the best of it.

The two slowly got to know each other over the next few years. Hideoyoshi was a proud warrior who loved the thrill of combat, though he despised Roku's weapon of choice. "I'm a Warrior Spirit! I can be anything! And you choose to fight like this? Hideoyoshi would often mock Roku but the two developed a strong bond over combat. Roku loved to prove his skills against conventional samurai and the look on their faces when he cut through their armor with Hideoyoshi was priceless. Despite Hideoyoshi urging Roku to reveal the state of the Heart Empire's Soldier of Fortune Roku insisted they keep it a secret. In part Roku wanted to keep notoriety off his back. He had his agenda full with helping the people of Xingcha and he wanted to focus his efforts on donating his time to the people. Hideoyoshi on the other hand craved action so there was constantly a struggle between the two.

Over time Roku noticed his luck was turning up for the better. He met a nice Shuryo girl in the city and they forged a bond quickly. It didn't take ong for Roku to fall in love and despite Hideoyoshi constantly making fun of him Roku insisted she was the one. After a few years the two became engaged and Hideoyoshi decided to tell Roku about the secret of Yoshijutsu. Hideoyoshi explained that as a Warrior spirit he had domain over chance, essentially Hideoyoshi controlled luck for those he was attached to. Hideoyoshi explained to Roku that with practice he could weaponize this lucky streak and become a fine warrior. With this knowledge Roku became inspired to train like he never had before and as time pressed on her developed a blossoming skill with Yoshijutsu.

While Roku was training his newfound skills the samurai's name came up once again for a promotion. To become a Harubushi Roku would have to demonstrate his skills in battle against another samurai. He was not expected to win, as his opponent was a full fledged Harubushi, but his performance would be the sole determining factor as to if he would be promoted or not. Roku stepped into the battle brandishing Hideoyoshi. The two had been in many battles over the years but this was the defining fight for them. Everything they had done up until this point hinged on this battle. It would be just one second of victory that would determine the fate of Roku and Hideoyoshi. They were ready for it.

Standing twenty meters from his opponent Roku held Hideoyoshi in his lead hand, his right hand. The target was in range and Roku knew he had a distinct advantage over the samurai. Most samurai used sword, like this opponent did. That meant they had to be within one meter of Roku to get a strike in, and Roku had 30 meters of fishing line to utilize before they could close the distance. Roku had a new technique planned for this display, and this display he was certain would impress the higher ups. Roku planned on winning.

Casting his hook outward Roku was channeling his chakra into Hideoyoshi. The spirit fed on Roku's chakra and as a result Roku's Serendipity Field was altered. The Serendipity Field was an aura of energy that everything possessed. This field was conducive of the owners linear diction of luck. Hideoyoshi began changing Roku's luck and the line he cast into the air was met with a fortunate gust of wind. While the samurai was preparing a defensive manuever to guard the dastardly hook the wind displaced the route of the line and sent it scattering around the samurai.

With fishing wire wrapped all around him Roku gave his pole a jerk and tightened the slack. Suddenly the Harubushi he was facing was tied up and defenseless. Roky dashed forward and bonked the samurai on the head. "I win." Roku was smiling, and if Hideoyoshi had a face he would have been grinning a devilish grin too.

With his promotion Roku entered into a new life of service for Tea Country. Instead of serving the capital city Roku would be tasked with traveling the nation's compositional nations and sorting out internal, state affairs. Roku was to hold a high position among travelers as a warrior of the bushido and he had a lot riding on his shoulders, but he wasn't nervous. After the exhilarating dance he had with the Harubushi in his promotion exam Roku was thoroughly excited to patrol the nations roads. Roku knew danger lurked around every corner in his nation. Between uprisings of the people, corruption of the state, protests, and the occasional suicide bombing he was up to his ears in excitement. Roku loved it. Leaving Xingcha he knew he would be back soon for a debriefing, but that seemed so far away to the young hopeful. Kissing his wife goodbye Roku headed out for his next adventure.

Soldier of Fortune
Hideyoshi [秀吉], otherwise known as the soldier of fortune, is a warrior spirit that has sworn fealty to the [Heart Empire]. In life, Hideyoshi was a mercenary who sold his services to the highest bidder, but in death wishes to repent for his greedy lifestyle. Having possessed great luck up until the very moment of his death, Hideyoshi passes on this luck to those that are bound to his weapon, allowing the user to manipulate the probability of things happening, causing even seemingly impossible events to occur as though they were commonplace.

Preferred Form: Having started life as a bandit, Hideyoshi prefers to take the form of a very simple hand axe but will morph to whatever weapon his bound user desires.

Influences: Those Hideyoshi has bound himself to will find their chakra turning to a bright gold color, and they will find that any time they reach into an empty pocket, they'll be able to retrieve one last Ryo.

Personality: Hideyoshi rarely takes anything seriously, least of all his bonded partners. He will casually insult and make fun of anyone in his senses, and only straightens up when his blood boils during a particularly exciting fight.

Mastery: Mastering Hideyoshi's powers allows one to access increasing levels of his great luck and offers the following boosts in strength.

The Soldier of Fortune, Hideoyoshi holds domain over the Serendipity Field, a mystical convergence of spiritual energy that dictates ones chances in the world. Everything from how often one forgets their keys at home to whether or not a bird shits on ones head is dictated by luck, fortune, misfortune, it goes by many names. The Serendipity Field is mysterious and only ancient spirits of a select variety know about it, and even less can influence it. Hideoyoshi was always lucky, and as luck would have it he possesses a one of a kind power. By binding to a host Hideoyoshi can pass on this power to his partner.

Yoshijutsu is cast by channeling chakra into Hideoyoshi and directing ones will toward a certain happenstance. This can be used for countless effects in battle and depending on how the Yoshijutsu effects one depends on whether or not it is a ninjutsu or taijutsu. It is not strictly categorized though and all Yoshijutsu fall under the same pyramid. The Serendipity Field does not interact with Genjutsu as illusions are controlled and luck is absent from the actual glamour of Genjutsu. However using taijutsu and ninjutsu, genjutsu triggers can be achieved with remarkable success.
