phpBB [video] Geromi Genimaru
C-Rank Criminal
Wanted Dead or Alive
Crime: Murder of a family in Steam Country

The cold night air caused a slight amount of condensation to form on her armor. If she was not so well insulated she would be quite chilly in the night fog that covered the rooftops of Steam. Silently, she moved through the shadows and fog as she made her way to the underbelly, her eyes fixed on a man walking below. He was pompous, the kind that would beat a man that HE bumped into. He also was a cold-blooded murderer and much like the criminals who took everything from her, her father. She would stalk her prey from the cover of the sky above until finally, he went into a bar. Truth be told the man was huge and likely more powerful than her so she would need the element of surprise and for him to get a little more drunk before she could attempt to deliver justice on the bounty.

From the opposite roof top she backed up to give herself distance then sprinted full force and leaped, landing with a soft thud on the opposite rooftop and quickly throwing herself wide eagle to avoid being seen- playing the angles and pitch of the rooftop to her advantage. Once some time had past and all had forgotten the sound, she would peer off the ledge as she prepared a long wire- almost like a garrote or noose, and placed a throwing knife as a counter weight on one end. She would then perch on the ledge, waiting, her mind clear and her focus sharp.

Visions of her father watching tigers hunt with her came to mind.

Patience is key to the hunt, he said as they watched the tiger stalk a small monkey. It never let it's prey know where it was, and it waited. It waited till it left the trees and canopy and entered the forest floor. And even then it waited till the monkeys back was turned, and then with a precision of a true killer it pounced and the battle was finished. This was who Rio was. She would wait longer. Longer. Even longer as seconds turned to minutes, minutes turned to hours, and eventually at nearly 5 in the morning the drunk and large man exited the bar, staggering. This was the time to be the tiger.

The wire was firm in her left hand, and with the knife/counter-weight end in her right hand, she threw it with immense power towards the ground. Before the criminal would have a chance to even register what had just hit the ground the knife would "bounce" of the ground and ricochet back up to the roof sailing right past Rio as it deeply embedded in the roof and anchored itself. In an instant, Rio's left hand would tug on the wire, and then her right on the other side as she quickly pulled it up and the wire slid up, finding itself right around the criminal's neck in the process. She would tug up with all her force as he gagged, his eyes bulging as he looked up to the roof to find the armored young woman.

Fuck, he's heavy...

Rio groaned and pulled with all her force as the wire began to push pain into her gloves. The man struggled and pulled at the wire, but Rio pulled tighter. She threw herself back onto her ass, pulling the man fully into the air and off her feet for a moment before the knife was ripped out of the wall- her anchor lost. It went flying back over the edge, limply dangling off the rough as she struggled to hold both ends of the wire... in a controlled panic, she tried to regain power as the mans feet touched the ground once more, and despite being in a drunken stupor, he pulled the wire with his hands putting all of his immense strength and weight into it. Despite Rio's strength, it was too much.

The girl went flying off the roof, her own grip on the wire being her demise as she hit the ground below with a thud and a roll. With little time to do anything, she rolled to the side narrowly avoiding the man's overhead hammer-punch, strong enough to dent the earth where she had been. Flipping to her feet she backed up, putting distance between the two of them.

He's drunk enough that his coordination is sloppy and I have a great speed advantage. she thought, leaning forward on the balls of her feet and squaring her shoulders, her hands at her holsters, fingers wiggling. She would need to end this quickly. Steam didn't like paying to Bounty Hunters who caused too big a commotion or property damage- and she really need to build a better track record if she wanted to keep netting higher contracts.

Rio's eyes went into a squint as she cleared everything from her mind and fixed her gaze on her opponent, who had now drawn his sword. She began to count.

One.

The mammoth of a man pounded forward, his foot hitting the ground.

Two.

His next foot hit the ground and he raised his blade high, aiming to cleaver he.

Three.

With rapid reflex and precision Rio unleashed two knives from each holster, in each hand, aimed right for the torso of the man, while managing to dodge and roll off to the side at the moment his blade fell. The two knives hit him clean in the chest but likely embedded in his ribs and did not cause any fatal damage. From her rolled positioned she would instantly release two more knives into his back- this time likely puncturing a kidney.

He howled in pain as she put distance between them, never turning her back to him, and he turned around with a red face and anger.

"I can bring you in cold or I ca-" she didn't finish her sentence as the man barreled towards her again, and she unleashed two more knives, this time both knives seemingly whizzing past his neck and "missing", only for a red myst to spray out his neck moments later as he fell to the ground mid-charge gurgling.

"I knew it was going to be cold from he start." she simply said as she watched the mans life drain away, and when he was no more, she would drag him to the sheriff office to collect the bounty and notireiety that came with it.

The Book of Araki Rio

phpBB [video] This was a hairy situation. To start with, four other bounty hunters had shown up for this bounty in Pebble Country on the Drugu cartel. The competition was always shit- especially when payouts would be split. That was the glass half empty view, anyways. The glass half full view was that the Drugu cartel turned out to have a lot more firepower. As in at least 30 men at their compound, and has Rio gone alone, she'd likely be dead by now. The other bounty hunters were Krix, Iritsu, and Kazuma. They were similarly ranked within the guild to her with the exception of Kazuma who was a fairly strong, B-Rank hunter. But right now, none of that mattered. They were all hiding behind pillars and pinned down.

Rio glanced to Krix, the one closest to her and hiding behind the pillar opposite. Of the group, she was probably the heaviest armored. Krix reached into his belt and procured a small pocket mirror, similar to the type women used for makeup. He tossed it on the ground between the pillars so they could peer into it. There was two men with spears approaching the pillar, and at least a few men up on the roof. The rest were assumedly circling the compound to perform a flank from the hallway in front of the group.

Clever, honestly Rio had never thought of recycling what was otherwise trash.

She took a deep breath as she leaned forward on the balls of her feet and squared her shoulders back. They needed to take care of the spear men- they couldn't deal with the archers up top otherwise with spear men jamming their shape rods down their throats. Rio rolled out from behind the pillar and immediately threw a knife straight into the neck of the spearmen on her side. As she finished her roll she came out into the courtyard, and threw another few knives for the other spear man, as Krix hopped out from his pillar and tried to use his crossbow to shoot the archers.

So quickly a volley of arrows flew at them, Krix quickly retreating behind the pillar. Rio on the other hand was wide open. She narrowly managed to move to the side as an arrow grazed her pauldron letting out a loud *screech*. Another arrow hit her helm, denting it but ultimately bouncing off against the powerful plating. She quickly dove for cover back behind the pillar, out of breath.

They could hear the steps of the men coming through the hallway to flank them. Kazuma and Iritsu ran to the doors of the hallway behind them, only for Iritsu to get hit in the back with an arrow, screaming as he slammed the bar down on the door and retreated back behind the cover of the many pillars as the archers reknocked. Rio hissed in anger.

"Krix, we need to give them cover at the door!"

The door began to shake violently as the foot soldiers of the Drugu attempted to kick the door down. Krix nodded.

Just how the fuck will I ever be able to kill a missing ninja when just street thugs are an issue.

Rio was the most armored one here. This would be her duty. "Krix we don't have time to think, I'll draw their fire. Take them out."[.b] she said as she rushed out from the pillar into the courtyard at a full sprint, volleys of arrows falling down. Krix's hand reached out as if he wanted to stop her, his mouth agape in a gasp.

Rio was able to roll out the way of the first valley, a few arrows hitting her at angles that caused them to bounce off their armor. Krix leaned out from behind his pillar as he shot an arrow- it was a direct hit as it split an archers helmet and head, and he fell back. Crossbows didn't have range but they penetrated plate like it was nothing. He leaned back behind the pillar to reload as the next volley came. This time, one arrow managed to get the right angle as slid off the pauldron and into one of the cracks in her armor, in her shoulder. Rio let out a howling scream as she released a knife from her other arm, hitting an archer in the neck and sending him falling forward off the wall into the courtyard. Krix immediately shot another arrow, taking out another archer.

Two left, Krix, hurry.

Rio headed for the stairs to the wall, another air striking her but bouncing off her armor as she bounded up the stairs, an arrow sticking out her shoulder. She grit her teeth as she lept up onto the wall and put her arms in front of her head as she charged the archer aiming to tackle him off the wall, only for her tackle to hit nothing as she bounded into the ground, turning her head to see the archer falling off the wall, another crossbow bolt in him.

Good job, Krix.

She recomposed herself and broke the end of the arrow off leaving just the head and some of the shaft in her shoulder- enough they could extract it later. She'd have to grit her teeth and be strong, fighting her way through the pain. Iritsu shouted "Krix, get up there with her! as along with Kazuma the two struggled to hold the door shut.

Rio would once more take her prised stance- the stance of a gunslinger... of a duelist. This battle had only just begun... there was going to be a lot more pain before sundown if they were to get their true target- the big boss. At least a lot of these guys also had bounties, though some of them were wanted alive so it would be quite a waste. Rio sighed and nodded to Krix as he took his place at her side.

"Between you and me- the client did not mention there would be this much protection." she said, Krix grinning as he loaded his crossbow. "Seriously. Clients always sugar coat it and make it sound easy. Should have to follow us hunters out on a score at some point to see the shit we have to go through just to make their shit rewards."

The brief moment of companionship and chit chatter ended soon though, as a spear pierced through the door and went straight into Iritsu- Krix letting out a blood curdling "no" scream at the site of his friend skewered. Kazuma had no choice but to abandon the door as the spear was pulled back out and behind the door, and Iritsu fell over slumped as the door burst open and at least 8-foot soldiers burst through.

"They never learn do they- they shouldn't split up." Rio said as she went to work, her hands drawing knives from their holsters in a flurry as she released them at the doorway, which had no cover. Her knives hit the three men in front all over as they fell over, their comrades leaping of them and attempting to roll to the pillars. Krix put crossbow bolts in the men downed by the arrows to make sure they were finished.

Kazuma drew his blade- a samurai type, as he stood in a hallway that was completely covered from the gunslingers up top. They'd have no chance of helping him from where they were. The remaining four men looked at him, then quickly sprinted, rolling between the pillars and into the safety of cover- Rio and Krix failing to pick anyone off during that moment.

Krix would look to Rio.

"Kazuma's probably got it..." he said in a dismissive way, before bolting down the stairs on the opposite side of the wall and deeper into the compound. There was no honor among scum- and unfortunately most bounty hunters were scum. Krix wanted the big score. Rio sighed. She couldn't just abandon Kazuma. That was not the way her father had taught her. Bolting down the stairs and toward the sound of clattering steel she turned the pillar to see Kazuma wounded, and two of the spear men already dispatched. Beheaded by the razor sharp sword of the senior samurai. Rio drew two knives and rushed forward at one of the spear men, jamming a knife in his back as she tackled him to the ground. Kazuma meanwhile was parrying the jabs of the other as he pushed down on the wounded samurai.

Rio struggled with the larger man as they tossed and turned- the arrow in her shoulder causing her to lose her grip on one of her knives as she groaned aloud in pain. The man took over her, as he bared down from above, wrapping his hands around her neck. Rio kicked and kicked, and struggled. She was not strong enough. Everything began to go black... and then a metallic sound and a swoosh happened, and crimson leaked all over her face through the cracks of her helm as she woke up to a stump of a neck. Kazuma stood still, extended his blade in a way to shake the blood off, then put it back into his sheath before approaching Rio, kicking the beheaded man off her, and helping her up.

She gasped, then stood to her feet and took her helmet off to brush her face off.

"You are honorable, young one." he said with a slight smile as he gripped his injured arm. "Had you not come back I would be dead. The sword is at a disadvantage against the spear, and even more so when there is two spears." he said as he looked to the wall.

"I see Krix went on by himself. A fool." the older bounty hunter said as he began to walk towards the courtyard. Rio followed him, picking up her knives out of the corpses of everyone she had killed earlier and reholstering them. There was still much more to their battle likely, and indeed Krix going on ahead was foolish. It was clear that against these numbers they would have to settle with splitting the bounty.

"Yeah... I don't think we can trust him- that guy." she said as she went up the stairs. Kazuma laughed. "You are very much Araki's child, I can tell." he said, causing Rio to blush beneath her helmet.... Kazuma knew... her father? "You knew my father?" she said quickly, only for him to say "He was a good man- something rare in our profession."[.b] The samurai drew his blade in a blinding speed Rio couldn't comprehend as he slashed a man who was waiting in the shadows at the other side, the man quickly falling to the ground. Rio had not even noticed him.

So this is a B-Rank bounty hunter.

The two -aced another courtyard, seemingly empty, and then a long hall. UP ahead they could hear shouting and the sound of a crossbow. Krix was in combat. Rio looked to Kazuma, who nodded, before they both ran into the hallway. Their eyes had to adjust from the blinding sunlight to the dark, narrow hallway they were in. At the end of it, Krix stood still, his crossbow on the ground. He turned around and stumbled towards them, blood coming out of his mouth and revealing a knife in his chest, then collapse, revealing a group of thugs behind him with bats, swords, and knives. Kazuma drew his blade, and Rio, her knives. It seemed like this might be their last stand. They would have to make it through this hallway. But this also likely meant the prime target was on the other side- and these were his best guards.

"I bet he's sweating now." Kazuma said as he lurched forward. Rio would release a tight spread of knives into the hallway, hitting the men. They wouldn't kill them, but it'd cause them to retreat further back and injure them enough to hopefully make things easier for the samurai's blade.

Kazuma was panting as he leaned against the wall, a knife in his already injured arm and his hamstring cut. The old samurai was powerful, but the number of guards was just too great. Cursing once more the client's more than misleading bounty posting, he looked forward into the hall as Rio collected her knives from the corpses of the enemy. There were only two more guards and then the door. The entire hallway was littered with corpses, the walls splattered with blood like a jackson pollock painting. There had truly been a phenomenal fight here. Rio approached Kazuma and nodded. She'd break the door down and lead the charge.

Lowering her non-injured shoulder, she picked up speed as she ran through the hall and slammed herself into the door, only to bounce off of it and hit the ground, howling in pain. She just... wasn't strong enough. Again she slammed into the door, mustering more strength as dust flew off and the fingers creaked but did not break. Kazuma called out to her. He directed her and told her to correct her form and the best point to hit it.

Once more she backed up then charged, throwing her whole weight to a point where she went off her feet when she collided with the door. A huge snap occurred as the hinges were ripped from the wall and the door collapsed under her, and crunching let out as it fell to the other side clearly landing on a bodyguard who has been holding the door from behind. Rising up, Rio let out a visceral howl as she kicked the bottom of the door with all her strength causing it to bounce up and she grabbed it, using it like a shield to block the incoming arrows as she charged forward, Kazuma quickly following behind her as he gracefully ran up the wall and lept to the side, slicing off an archers hands. Rio would, with again a massive amount of strength and adrenaline roar as she chucked the door at the other archer and ran for the "throne" in the room, where the main bounty sat. Her charge was met when the man stood up, and rather than using a weapon, threw his hands down on his shoulders and despite her immense strength stopped her in place. She dug her heals down and mustered all the strength in her thighs to push up and thrust, but it was to no avail. Like a bull fighting heracles, the man grabbed her by her shoulders and tossed her aside like she was nothing as she slid on the ground.

There were no more guards, and Kazuma turned to face the man before him, resheathing his blade as he eyed his opponent. The large man reached behind him to the throne and drew a large katana that had been propped up to the side of it then lowered the top of his kimono to reveal an intricate golden dragon tattoo all overhis body.

"How many were you?" he asked with a smile, as if relenting in all the bloodshed it took just to reach him. Kazuma did not answer, and instead bolted forward doing an Iaido draw at the large man. Kazuma's blade hit the mans shoulder, but didn't go any deeper, only for Kazuma's eyes to open in wide shock as his eyes moved from the mans face to his shoulder, and his opposite hand holding the blade, blood trickling down. He had caught the blade. His hand squeezed as the old samurai's blade shattered and he stumbled backwards.

The boss stepped forward, wiping his hand off on his kimono. Rio tried to come to, watching as she slumped against a wall. Her whole body hurt. Kazuma threw a punch like a scared, wounded animal, only for the man to snap his arm, as Kazuma's eyes rolled back in his head and he screamed. He stumbled backwards, both arms injured.

I have to fight.

Rio pushed herself to her feet, shakily as she tried to regain consciousness. She mustered all her strength. The large man slowly drew his blade, then used his left hand to grab Kazuma by his ponytail and hold him in the air.

No!

Rio internally screamed as she drew her knives unleashed them at the wall- the knives ricocheting off the wall and into the man's eyes. She had mustered such strength that it had all happened at in incredible speed. The man groaned as he dropped Kazuma, stumbling backward. Rio rushed forward grabbing the broken blade of the samurai and ran, putting all her strength into her body as she jammed the sword into the small of the large gangsters back. He screamed and swung his blade blindly in the air, missing her as she spun around.

"I won't kill you. I'm going to torture you girl. I'm going to r-" Kazuma, despite all his injures threw himself into the sword jamming it deeper into the mans back who screamed, once more "swatting" his blade around randomly. Drawing too knives Rio charged and lept at the man, stabbing him in the arm and this time, pushing down like they were the fangs of a cobra til he dropped his swords. She would flinger herself up onto his back, giving him a bear hug before letting her letting her legs fall to the ground, then pulling with all her might throw him, causing him to land on his back, the broken sword lodging itself in him deeper and going straight through him. He coughed, blood came up.

Rio kicked him to the side, drew a blade, then slit his throat.

Some were better cold then warm.

2 counter hunters had died today. 1 had almost had his career ended.

When she got back to town, she was going to make sure the client paid one way, or another. She nodded to Kazuma as the two dragged the boss out and the others with a bounty to the stables, where they would load a cart up and return to town for the payment.

The Book of Araki Rio

Rio held the scroll carefully in her hand as she left the bounty hunters guild. She really had a hankering for beef bowl but between her lack of funds and the need to repair her armor she definitely couldn't even afford an expired slice of bread. Her bounty wasn't likely a difficult one, but it was one that would require her to do things a bit different than she was probably used to. Beating Karr Gimbo would not be a matter of just her strength it would be a matter of her being clever enough to find a criminal who hadn't been seen in over 2 years. But his bounty would be more than enough to set her finances straight. She bit her lip quietly as she placed her new helmet on- a gift from the kind Wind Country Shinobi who had taken care of her during the war.

Karr Gimbo
C-Rank Criminal

Wanted for tax evasion and sleeping with another mans wife. Fled on bail, raising bounty to C. Not dangerous, but extremely smart and clever. Been missing for 2 years. If found, preferred warm due to information held on his company. Warm preference means bonus ryo; 25 Ryo in total. Cold means 15.

25 whole damn ryo. Rio grit her teeth as she headed for her trusty stead, Bug and getting onto his back took off onto the dirt roads leading into Lightning Country. At border control she would prevent her puck, the scroll, and her code showing she was a member of the guild. Cleared for entry, under the promise there'd be no killing or violence here, the girl forfeited her weaponry and was granted access into the country side. She'd need to go the canal first- the only lead she had gotten was that he might of been on a boat that passed through there.

This would be a testament to her willpower- in many ways. She would need to hold fast with all these scummy sailors and make sure she could get through it all without her weaponry. Ugh. She stopped off her horse, tying it to a post at the dock as she disembarked to speak with the first scumbag. The dock master.

Her helmet still on she tried to speak a little more masculine.

"Ships sure do come through here a lot don't they." she said, only for the dock master to laugh. "It's a dock you shit for brains." It took every thing in her body to will her self not to gut the guy on the spot. Gritting her teeth under he helmet she spoke up. "So then-" the man cut her off.

"Look darling- that voice ain't work and I'm to busy to waste time talking to you." he said angrily as he walked towards a ship, clipboard in hand. This was what she was waiting for. She grinned.

"Oh, so then it's probably hard to check the cargo manifests and personnel of every ship that comes through then." she said, potentially catching the man out in his own words. He could try and put her down but her will was stronger- she'd use his own words against him and trick the man into fucking himself.

"Uh-" he said, before she chimed back in. "Uh- the answers yes. But I'm not here to tell you how to do your job, I'm hear to ask you about what ships came through here recently and where they were heading" she said, as the guy groaned, and simply handed her some papers. She bowed her head. Respect was granted once received.

She wasn't sure exactly how any of the records would help her link anything to Karr... but it was surely a start. Hmph. She got on her horse and was going to ride off, but before she knew it something hit her on the head hard and she was knocked off her horse and everything went black.

When she woke up she tasted a metallic taste- blood. If she hadn't had her helmet on she'd of probably been dead. She then noticed that she was tied to a chair. It was hard to come too, but as she did, she realized her helmet and armor had been removed along with her gear. She was down to her basics. Both horrified and embarrassed, she tried to make things out as she was hit by a ice cold bucket of water. Shivering her eyes tightened.

A man with tattoos all up his arms and cigar was there, he looked at her, then took his cigar and twirled it beneath his fingers.

"It seems we caught us a little girlie snooping around the docks." he said gesturing to some other men with him. "Seems she's also the one who killed one of the bosses a while back of the syndicate." he said walking closer.

"And now she's in our turf. Now why is she here?" he said as he approached her, placing his cigar onto the top of Rio's hand. The pain and burn was intense but she grit her teeth and screamed through them. She couldn't appear weak here. She'd need to will her way through it until they left her alone and slipped up. She looked up and made crocodile tears using all her will to act, as behind the chair, she wiggled her hands to see if there was anyway to free herself.

"I'm here unrelated to you, I swear. I don't even know who you are!" she said as she began to "hyperventilate" slightly, playing up her injured girl routine. The man chuckled a little. Then a lot as he put another cigar into the same spot, the pain intensifying as it burnt through her skin and to her flesh. She tried her hardest not to scream as her eyes watered only to spit in the mans face. He released the cigar, than wiped the spit from his brow.

"Let's teach this little bitch some manners." he said, joking around to the other guys as he unzipped his pants, approaching Rio. The group was doing all they could to tilt her- to unnerve her. They were going to torture her or worse. The man's hand gripped her breast as he looked her in the eye.

"Let's have some fun." he said before he grabbed her by the hair and held her head up, her throat aligning straight as her neck went back. With his other hand he drew a knife and held it to her eye, as he moved his lower regions towards her face.

A complete and utter idiot. The first thing she did was bite- not hard enough to actually yanno, but hard enough to make him squeel as he sliced her cheek and dropped the knife. In that instant she flipped her chair, knocking into him and positioning herself on the ground to grab the knife with her hands, cutting herself and standing with the knife in her hand only to look at an entire room of men, armed.

The man whose member was injured, crawled back in panic as the other men circled her. She could not give into fear here. Her will needed to be stronger. She stomped on the leg of the chair breaking it off and clutching it in her hand, swinging it up in time to catch the first knife that came for her- the knife lodged clean into the chair she quickly let a puff of air escape her mouth with a

pff as she jabbed the man in the stomach and dragged, blood showering her as she pulled it back. The next man came quick- she swung the same leg into his skull, the man dropping with a thud as she chucked her knife into another man who was approaching, then rolled to grab the knife of the man she had just knocked unconscious, going right out of a roll and delivering that knife into the air of one of the thugs before taking off running. She'd unlodge the knife in the chair leg and toss it aside, leaping over the man with an injured member.

She'd need to find her gear; but she could here footsteps all over whatever compound she was in. She wanted to panic- everything set in. This was it? Was this it? Fuck, whatever. She did her best to will past her fear as she turned a corner only to be greeted by a massive man. Probably no good places to stab someone that fat. He launched for an overhead cleave as she dodged, slightly off-balanced to the side. She'd slash at his leg but he'd recover from his smash and send her flying into a set of lockers off to the side. Getting back to her feet she would prepare for his next hit, dodging craftily to the side as his fist smashed into the locker, and then, with a burst of power she would jump up and jab her knife into his armpit. There wouldn't be much fat there, and as the blood splatter showed, there was an artery. The man gasped as he fell over holding his wound.

Off in the distance she could hear more footsteps coming. She looked above the locker spotting a window. She couldn't leave her gear but she sure as hell couldn't stay here if she had any desire to live. Part of conquering fear was also conqeuring flight or fight, adrenaline made choices and being able to center ones self to make logical decisions.

The best thing to do would be to leave now and come back later, perhaps a day or so later, when people weren't scouring the place for her. Leaping up onto the locker and out the window, she closed it before letting go, and fell to the river.

The water soothed her burns but soon quickly made her cold. She'd let it take her down the river, and eventually pull herself up onto the ground into a wooded area. With the knife from the gangster, she would need to prepare from here. Everything she would do from here on out would be in preparation to return her knife. She'd start by widdling some sticks into a spear of sorts, then make her way towards the town. Perhaps she could get some clothes and trade it for some proper weapons, and also get some intel on who these gangster assholes were.

Today had sucked. She wasn't quite as "strong in will" as she had expected- and though she had managed not to break under pressure, she hadn't managed to locate her gear and escape and now had several much bigger problems to take care of.

On the flip side, these gangster probably had bounties on them. Perhaps she could at least recuperate some money for this detour.

As she anticipated, it would be quite easy to talk her way up to the gear she needed; the villagers were nice and trading the spear for another knife, the knife for a helmet, and the helmet and what not up, she eventually found herself with enough Ryo to get a set of knives, some clothes, and a protective leather cuirass. That was all she'd need. Oh- and some salve for her burn.

The Book of Araki Rio

[flash][/flash]
The rains poured down, pounding the streets of what was former river country. Before the mad titan turned into the realm of Titans. To a young Rio though, none of that particularly mattered. She was here to get some coin. To get paid, to take said pay, and to buy more gear and copius amounts of meat. She was a growing girl after all. She held a coin from the guild between her fingertips as she eyed each and every person in the street from a top her horse. The rain rolled off her ryuuhagane armor as the steel titan rolled her way through the streets.

Slowly, the crowds began to disperse. The buildings began to shutter. And when they couldn't be shuttered, well, the people seemingly disappeared from the windows. It was clear that another hunter had shown up to try and disopse of the mad criminals who had made this small village their home. It was also clear that four others had tried this week and had caused quite copious amounts of damage... So, it made sense for everyone to hide. Still, Rio failed to find immediately what she was looking for.

Her horse let out a loud neigh as she got off of it, tying it to a stable post.

Easy girl. she whispered as her gloved hands ran through its hair. She tried to calm her own nerves. Not that it would mean much. On the outside though, she would remain stalwart. Before she even made it five steps from her horse, a name called out. Thunder struck and the whole sky light up, the light reflecting off her armor.

"Hey, look what we have here?" the voice said in malice as a man in leather armor and a cuirass stepped to the center of the road, tipping his wide brimed hat forward to great Rio. She stepped forward, hands to her holsters. Silent. There was no point in talking. The man looked at her before his hand made a "gun motion", a lightning bolt flying out of his finger with ferocious speed and hitting her on the helmet, knocking her over and onto her ass, the mud splashing around her. The helmet protected her for sure, but a shot like that... it had force in it still, and worse, her head tingled a bit.

She wouldn't have much time though- within moments of his first shot, he'd send two more her way drawing his other hander. She grit her teeth, quickly moving to evade and pulling herself to her feet, flinging her whole body into the wall of a shack to the side and literally canonballing through it. It hurt like hell, and as the dust settled she heard the bootsteps of the man, only for a flurry of lightning bolts to fly through the wall.

She rolled out of harms way- he was shooting blind. This would be her opportunity- if she could take the shinobi by surprise... Strategically she stomped her foot before rolling to the side- a lightning bolt coming through her approximate area, along with a cackle.

"Like fish in a barrel!" the man said. She'd repeat, getting him to shoot a certain area of boards and also ensuring that he was, at least by the angles, lined up outside that part of the wall. To finish things, she'd reach for a pot in the shack and allow it to get hit by a lightning bolt, throwing it to the ground with a thud. There'd be no more shots and silence, as the boot steps neared and the man approached the wall. For sure this would hurt her... but it would hurt him more.

When his eye went to one of the holes- she would throw herself again full force, armored and all at the wall, which had been weakened by his shots. Pummeling straight through the wall she'd crash into the man and knock him to the ground as he attempted for form a hand seal.

Rio's armor and grit... she'd of been ready though, and despite the sudden shock and pain of flying through a wall the second she felt the man beneath her she'd draw a knife and stab down at his hand, driving it into the ground as he screamed with a howl. He'd punch at her with his free hand only to find his knuckles hitting her helmet with extreme pain.

Rio's head was now completely ringing. Birds went round, but she held onto whatever power she had to keep her weight on the man, pinning him. She'd reposition herself and move so her thighs and legs straddled him, her hands pushing down on his remaining arm. He screamed, as she took one arm back to reach for a knife. She was sure she'd have the kill right than and there, but the man bit his lip and said a few curses.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning came from the sky and hit both of them, sending her flying forward into the opposite building- this time one made of stone. She'd hit across it hard as the other man went flying to the side, the force pulling him against the knife as it ripped through his hands and between his fingers.

Her vision began to fade. The man didn't move. But she didn't either. Her vision went black as she tried to keep herself awake, but she'd find no luck. This man had been powerful. She had underestimated a shinobi- and never again would she. Today she learned a lesson. Shinobi could use jutsu without handseals.

It was not the end though- moments later her world became bright once more as she came to.

I... can't move.

She looked onwards only to notice the other man, slung haphazardly on the ground, eyes looking at her but equally unable to move. Had he paralyzed them both with his lightning? She tried to process it, but it made sense. Though he'd have to injure himself it was a gamble he'd take that was better than a knife in the neck. Rio tried hard to move.

Shitt.

She needed to be more powerful. She needed to be stronger. She needed to do something in order to come too faster than this man. Minutes passed like hours as people in the village lined the streets now, surrounding the two and the wreckage they had caused. Intrigued voices turned to angry mutters. Angry mutters turned to conversations on "disposing of them both themselves".

And then the man began to move. His eyes looked to the crowd as his hand moved slightly, not enough to point at Rio, but enough to aim a lightning bolt right at the crowd and fire off four random bolts, bot four random bolts that would ultimately hit two people dropping them to the ground as the crowd looked back in fear. His voice cracked, and strained, would call out.

"There's more where that came from- and I can do the lightning again." he said as the bravado of the crowd suddenly disappeared. Rio too, was beginning to fear her situation. If she did not find the endurance to pull herself back up faster than the man she was smoked. Straining with all her might she grit her teeth as she tried to move, pulling her neck forward and managing to angle her sights on the man more. His finger was wiggling and his arm, as if he was struggling to try and move it her way. He let loose a shoot which hit the building behind her- 2 meters off.

Shit.

She squirmed with every ounce of power in her body to move, finding strength enough to moved her fingers, which gripped at the wet mud beneath her, but ultimately lacked the strength to mover her body. Another shot whizzed by, this time a little closer. Sweat was running underneath her armor and helmet. Rio needed to get herself moving. She took a deep breath as she tried to tense her abs. Instead of tensing she felt a feeling as if electrical current was pulsating through her- the feeling of a spasm as she managed to squirm on the ground a little and nothing more.

The village people looked on, in confusion. Was this hunter who caused them all this trouble, yet come this far, really not going to be the one to finish the damn job? Another shot whizzed by, though, completely missing. It seemed the man was still having trouble controlling his body enough to keep his finger still, but he was slowly calibraitng. Rio let out a gut-wrenching scream as her voice came back and her arm now granted power to her finger, dragging her more into the mud but doing very little. No matter how she tried her body just was not in a shape to move. It was not in a shape but it had to be... it had to be or... she was toast. She screamed louder as she tried to move, and the man let out a cackle, a shot whizzing right past her opposite side, this time less than a meter off from her.

"So, you're just a little girl, eh?" he called out as he moved his head, craning his neck. He was beginning to come back to it. Once more, RIo gave it her all as she screamed, enough to move just a few inches, the few inches that saved her from a lightning bolt that would of hit her neck. Instead it bounced off her helmet.. but she had noticed something.

The punch on that bolt was drastically weaker. He's running low on enegry- especially with all those calibrating shots he's making.... if I can outlast him, keep him firing before he can physically regain his power, I ca- a shot hit her square in the left shoulder as she let out a blood curdling scream. THe force was enough to rip into her shoulder, but not so deep. Her arm went numbm though she could still tense her hands and drag herself. She moved down, now flat, but unable to see the man. He'd fire again, missing the place he previously had succeeded at.

"Come on!" she said with a scream as her hand moved to her holster drawing a knife. Her right arm had begun too regain power. With the knife, it dug into the mud as she used it to push herself to the side, enough that she rolled over, and yet another shot missed. She'd repeat the same thing, using all her energy and all her might, and after a few more shots, suddenly the shots would stop coming.

Pulling herself up as she began to regain power, the man, would be so drained, he was becoming loopy. As he too pulled himself to a sitting position and locked eyes on her, he'd point his finger one last time at her and attempt to fire, but nothing would come out. A dry shooter. Nothing.

The people of the village would rejoice, and before long, with no fear of his lightning, they would beat him to death, as Rio laid in a slump against the cold stone wall, her body limp in the wet mud. She imagined she was still getting paid for the bounty- I mean, the village was the one who paid for it and she beat him.

She took a breath as the rain fell on the scene.

Out enduring the opponent rarely ever worked, but today it did. Perhaps shinobi were not all that smart anyhow.

The Book of Araki Rio

Karr Gimbo story continued

She had waited an entire night. The next morning, at the crack of dawn, when all the gangsters lay drunk in their own piles of mess and filthy, she would descend upon them just like the sun. They would know retribution and Rio would have her justice. Scaling the wall ever so quietly, she had to use more endurance than usual to pull herself up slowly and not make noise. When she made it to the top she would stop. It was interesting how nimble she felt without all her armor and how quiet she could be... but at the same point it felt wrong. She felt naked. She felt off. That armor and her weapons were her religion.

That probably spoke to the wrath she was going to unload on these gangsters. Once upon the wall she reached into her pocket and drew a single match. She'd drop it fall into the thatch and lighting it a blaze as she lept to the roof from the wall of the compound. There was man sleeping there. He'd die there too. Her knife slit his throat as her hand held his mouth before he could scream, she'd stay there as he passed away and her fire began to burn a little brighter. When he quieted down she would pull him behind a box, then hide him. From here she would have to move quick. Sprinting into the hall of the compound from the roof-top guard area she'd slide to the side, narrowly ducking out of the way of roaming guards. On their next rotation, she would pop out, throwing a knife that bounced off the wall and sailed past both guards slicing one on the jugular bit missing the other, who instantly charged her.

It'd hurt like a bitch. Without her armor she was a complete and utter lightweight. Rio went flying back in the mans arms as he rammed her into the wall. She stomached the pain and resisted screaming and instead drew another knife and stabbed at the back of his neck and back with a furry till he stopped moving and slumped over, releasing her from his pin against the wall. She collected her knives and limped off- already bruised up a bit but still ready to unleash hell.

By now the fire would be raging and at least some of the guards would be heading that way to check it out. She on the other hand would continue down the hallway systematically applying stealth to drop guard by guard as she made her way through, though each time acquiring new cuts and bruises. Before long she'd reach the end of the main hall, and having checked every room, still not found any of her armor. Where exactly were they hiding it all? She would begin to descend down the stairs when she realized the gravity of her situation. There were at least 15 gangsters lined up the stairs waiting. She groaned. This was going to be just like that one time in Dragon Country.

Drawing two knives she sprinted, throwing her shoulder into the first man at the top and throwing him off balance. This would cause him to fall, down the stairs, stumbling into the others as she hurdled down the steps, chucking knives. It would work an between all the falling and knives in eyes and throats she'd dispatch of them, then gather her weapons, cleaning them off and holstering them. From now on she'd have to search every room to find her gear. And she'd need to be quick because the fire wouldn't distract them for long after they'd find all the bodies. And that's when Rio found her helmet- it was on a statue near the stairs, with a smiley face drawn on it. Surely having been a part of someones drunken antics. Her helmet retrieved, she would turn just in time to narrowly dodge a man who aimed to tackle her. Her move sent the drunken hulk into the wall. She would use his "dazed" state to roll to his side and stab him four time in the gut quickly, letting him fall to the ground before doubling back.

Drenched in blood and pissed, she went into the next room and found more of her armor. She'd get it on and find at least some of her weapons, but she wouldn't find the rest of it. Least if they were there she wouldn't have time. She looked up out the door to notice five men lining up in the fire- one of them had her tomahawks. The rest had Katana. Well. That wasn't so great. She wouldn't leave the room- standing just before the door way and forcing them to her, with all their testosterone and shit to prove. The door was a tactical advantage for her that made sure they couldn't all go for her at once. With the fires building though she would need to be quick.

The first man came for her, the rest behind him. His sword swung at her, she headbutted it. It was a gamble but she was positive her helmet was strong. The sword shattered against it as her ears rang a little, and she instantly plunged a knife into the guys neck, pulling it as he fell to a slump as the next man lept over him attempting to swing at her arm. She was hit on the pauldron, and stumbled back slightly but would be spared any damage as the metal rang out.

She was real mad now. Her hand instinctively flung one of her knives from the bandolier she had retrieved, the knife hit the man in the eye as he howled. Running, she would kick into him and through the door way, knocking him into the other four men on the way and grabbing the broken sword as she slid off into the ground. With only three combatants left she could handle them. Her feet at a wide stance she raised the broken blade and held her hand out, waving for them to come.

Koi!

Masterfully she moved, stepping to the side and dragging the blade through the first mans chest before he could even strike. She'd barrel forward slamming her shoulder into the man with the tomahawks, making sure his strike would hit her armor and also prevent the last swordman from closing on her, then push back to create distance. The last two men were of course much smarter. They began to circle, and the fires began to rise.

Really need to get out of here.

Rio drew a knife and threw it at the first swords men, who parried it. She threw another, and kept pressure as she approached, before swinging her blade. The simple trick worked and she disposed of him, then threw the broken blade full force at the man with the tomahawks, spinning round to throw another knife. She'd hear the sword blocked, and then the sound of the knives hitting flesh, before turning around to confirm her hits. Retrieving her weapons she'd make for the doorway, down a long hallway, and then to the final door as the fire began to come after her.

She panted. She was injured and dangerous low on energy, in part from lack of food and having been tortured earlier. And having had to break in without armor initially. The door suddenly opened, and a man with one eyepatch walked in, howling, iron knuckles. It was the man who had tortured her, and who she had.. caused injury too. He was mad.

"See, I know you'd come back hunter." he said as he spat. Rio reached for a knife and chucked it, only to be surprised when the man knocked it out of the air with his knuckledusters. Had she gotten slower? In rapid succession she threw another knife only for him to deflect it.

"No way?!?!."

What was happening. Was this boss actually powerful? The man dropped into an explosive crouch as he dashed forward, Rio drawing and flinging knives as she backpedaled only to find the man upon her. He struck her in the head. Her helmet of course defended her, but she still felt the spin and momentum which sent her flying back to the ground. The man would find however, his fist hurt quit a bit. Bleeding from the damage he had inflicted with his own punch he licked it up off his hand.

"That helmets quite special, innit?" he said before smashing at the ground, Rio rolling to the side just in time to escape it. She went to draw a knife and throw it only to find she was out of knives. Panicking, she reached for her tomahawks and lept to her feet. The man came at her again. She moved to the side and swung her tomahawk- narrowly missing him as he pivoted and threw a jab right into her stomach, the force enough to take her off her feet and dent her chest plate, which was made of much weaker materials than her helmet. She spat up blood in her helmet as she landed back on her feet, raising her axes just in time to block a punch of the man. Her body was tired and though she could parry, her arm collapsed and she dropped one of the tomahawks as she retreatd back, slumped.

"You spent a lot of your energy beating up those lackeys, didn't you honey." the man said with an evil grin as he looked at her. She stayed quiet. She had no words for such a vile individual. She would play a gamble here and take a hit to the head, but use the opportunity to dig her tomahawk into his neck. Like cat and mouse the two sung at each other, moving like a dance through the field stepping over corpses as the intensity of the flames got worse. Drenched in sweat the pace of combat reached an explosive level. Finally, the moment came. The man had been brimming with unearned confidence. He struck at her head. Rio headbutted into it.

The explosion was now the pain in his hand and wrist as his hand crunched. Rio wouldn't waste a second and would swing her tomahawk. The man would try to raise his knuckledusters to block it, and Rio would adjust curse, swinging into his wrist and lopping his hand off instead of going for his neck. He'd howl in pain but moments late the axe would be in his head, as he would fall over lifeless.

Stumbling and the world spinning around her with concussions, broken ribs, and more, Rio stumbled her way out the door and made for the streets, where she would escape. She'd claim the bounty once the world stopped spinning, get medical attention, and maybe replenish her weapon stock.

The Book of Araki Rio

Book 1, Second Half; Chapter 1: The Resurfacing Shadow

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the rugged landscape as Rio stood atop a cliff, overlooking a vast expanse of rolling hills. A cool breeze tugged at her cape, causing it to billow behind her. The news of Jinzo the Shadow's return weighed heavily on her mind, igniting a fire within her that could not be extinguished. He was a truly noteworthy criminal and his bounty large.

From beneath her helm, Rio's sharp eyes scanned the horizon, searching for any sign of the criminal's whereabouts. With her trusted sword at her side and her chakra coursing through her veins, she felt prepared to face the challenges ahead. She had dedicated her life to bringing criminals to justice, but Jinzo was different. His elusive nature and unparalleled skill had made him the stuff of legends. While Jinzo wasn't a particularly evil criminal, it was his ability to always get away as if he was a shadow that made him an alluring bounty.

Descending from the cliff, Rio made her way to a secluded village nestled among the hills. It was said that the villagers had encountered Jinzo firsthand, their lives forever scarred by his ruthless acts. She sought their guidance, hoping that they held the key to uncovering his current whereabouts. Starting with the village elder who was a weathered man with wisdom etched into his features, Rio began her investigation. She was met with a mix of apprehension and gratitude. He spoke of the devastation Jinzo had wrought, the lives shattered and the hope extinguished. Rio listened intently, her resolve hardening with each word. As the pair spoke against the candelight hut, they nodded back and forth before finally, Rio exited his hut.

Her eyes had to only slightly re-adjust to the outdoor sunlight as it was going down. With the village's limited information, Rio embarked on a relentless pursuit of knowledge. She frequented taverns, shadowy back alleys, and even sought counsel from elusive contacts within the underworld. Every clue, every rumor, brought her closer to unraveling the enigma that was Jinzo the Shadow.

As days turned into weeks, Rio found herself delving deep into Jinzo's past. She discovered the remnants of his criminal network, former associates who had either abandoned him or fallen victim to his treachery. Her determination grew, fueled by the stories of those whose lives had been forever changed by his malevolence.

In the solitude of her training grounds, Rio pushed her physical and mental limits. Her days were consumed with grueling exercises, honing her combat skills, and expanding her minds abilities. Sweat dripped from her brow as she sparred with invisible opponents, each strike imbued with the weight of justice. Her brain ached in the evening as it ran like a well-oiled engine through every situation.

The path to confronting Jinzo would test her like never before and she needed to be ready. Her determination burned brighter than ever, forging an unbreakable resolve within her heart as she studied the notes, maps, and every bit of intel she had gathered. Tiring herself greatly, finally, she decided to give it a rest as she looked up to the sky to see the the stars shimmering above. Looking up to the stars, Rio looked to the heavens and made a silent vow.

As Rio had delved deeper into the mystery surrounding Jinzo's whereabouts, she had indeed found herself immersed in a web of clues and whispers. She became a detective, seeking the truth hidden within the shadows. The streets became her labyrinth, and she was determined to uncover the path that would lead her to the elusive criminal.

With her keen senses and sharp intuition she had managed to piec together fragments of information scattered throughout the city. She frequented the underbelly of society, listening to the whispers of the disenchanted and downtrodden, hoping to catch a hint of Jinzo's presence. The seedy taverns and dimly lit alleyways became her domain, her piercing gaze searching for any clue that could break the case wide open. And with each and every lead she recieved, she painstakingly examined each lead, meticulously connecting the dots, until finally a pattern emerged. The mention of an underground gambling den, whispered secrets of a high-stakes game where Jinzo was rumored to frequent, sent a thrill of anticipation coursing through her veins.

After the weeks of works, this would indeed be the potential final lead she needed.

Disguised in a cloak of shadows, Rio infiltrated the gambling den. The air was thick with tension as she observed the players, noting their expressions, their mannerisms, searching for any sign of recognition. She mingled among them, listening attentively, collecting scraps of conversation that could guide her closer to her target.

Hours turned into a blur as Rio tirelessly pursued her investigation. She played her part well, weaving through the intricacies of the den, all the while keeping her true identity concealed. Her instincts honed over years of bounty hunting guided her, guiding her to the realization that she was getting closer.

In a back room dimly lit by a flickering lantern, she overheard whispers of a meeting—a secret gathering of criminal minds, rumored to be attended by none other than Jinzo the Shadow himself. Rio's heart raced with a mix of excitement and trepidation. This could be the breakthrough she had been waiting for. To barge in today though would be nothing short of suicide- surely there were plenty of guards and in a building in tight quarters this would be a bad fight.

Making note of this, Rio would go home and begin to plan her next move. She would need to get in on the poker game and keep playing- if anything, she would need to win and beat the other players to gain their trust. And then, when the moment was right, she would strike with her flurry of steel, revenge, and justice.

Today though, her mind tired, she would rest. She had earned it. But would her willpower and obsession hunting criminals take her too far?

Pocket Sand
D-Ranked Maneuver Taijutsu
Starting with a handful of liquid or a particulate such as sand, Rio will whip her hand outwards towards a targets face. The handful will "stretch out" to a meter long whip that travels out at her full strength, up to [Strength] meters away from her. Beyond the sheer force of the whip, when successfully hitting a targets face, the particulate/liquid will enter the orifices causing temporary blindness, coughing, and other effects, essentially creating a momentary stun.

Rio found herself engaged in a fierce duel with a formidable opponent- a former Akibushi who had gone rogue, and under the orders of Goro, she was to hunt. The clash of their blades echoed through the trees as she faced a stronger adversary, their skill and strength seemingly unmatched. Despite her determination, Rio found herself overpowered and pinned to the ground, her body battered and bruised from the relentless assault.

She had been tanking every blow with a ferocious and indomitable will, but she could not keep up as her opponent forced her to the ground, Rio pinned helplessly. Struggling to break free, Rio's eyes caught a glimmer of hope as she noticed a handful of fine sand scattered on the forest floor. In a desperate attempt to defend herself, she instinctively reached for the sand, grasping it tightly in her hand. Her mind raced, seeking a way to turn the tide of the battle.

Summoning the last reserves of her strength, Rio whipped her hand outwards towards her opponent's face, flinging the sand without a clear plan. To her surprise, the handful of sand seemingly transformed mid-air, stretching out into a meter-long whip that traveled with unexpected speed and force. The sand struck him in the face with a loud crack, as blood escaped into the air and he let go, staggering backwards as he grasped at his face. Coughing and crying out he was blinded, and this unforeseen effect created a brief opening for Rio to take advantage of.

Using the momentary distraction, Rio swiftly twisted her body, leaping to her feet and drawing two of her knives. As she rose to her feet, the newfound confidence in this accidental technique surged within her as she gathered her remaining strength. And lurched forward at the large man who was now incapable of protecting himself. Seizing the opportunity to push her advantage she delivered a series of calculated strikes, targeting her opponent's weakened areas. The sand whip had not only given her an opening but had also left her foe disoriented and vulnerable.

Striking at the back of his left knee as she spun round to strike him in the shoulder, chest, and then in the neck, she delivered a final flourish and decisive blow as the man stumbled back, staggering only a few seconds more before he hit the ground with a large thud, the sand beneath them gently "poofing" into the air.

She stood victorious, her chest heaving with exhaustion but her spirit unyielding. The accidental invention of the "Pocket Sand" technique had not only saved her life but had also turned the tides of the battle in her favor.

As she tended to her injuries and caught her breath, Rio realized the potential of this newfound technique. The accidental invention of "Pocket Sand" had granted her a powerful tool, a surprise weapon that could level the playing field against stronger opponents.

From that day forth, Rio dedicated herself to refining the "Pocket Sand" technique. She practiced tirelessly, honing her control over the sand whip and learning to use it effectively in combat. With each training session, she grew more proficient, harnessing the element of surprise and unpredictability that this accidental invention offered- Rust Shackleford would have been proud.
Decapitating Strike
B-Ranked Maneuver Taijutsu
After preparing two projectiles with a thin wire or suitable substitute, the user will throw both projectiles with one hand in a way such that the wire is not visible to those without suitable perception techniques. The two projectiles will fan out to the full-width of the wire, pulling it taut as they proceed forward. If the wire strikes a target with a strength advantage of 5 or more, the target will be cut in half by the wire and the projectiles will continue forward with the wire. Otherwise, the wire will get caught on the target and produce a "bolo" effect as either end of the wire with the projectile rapidly wraps around them.

TrainingShow
In the aftermath of a grueling battle, Rio reflected on the inefficiencies she encountered while using traditional throwing weapons like knives and shurikens. While she could certainly throw quick enough to fell a crowd, it used a considerable amount of resources. What she needed was a technique that could be an AoE. A technique that could take on multiple opponents simultaneously, giving her a wider attack range and a greater advantage in combat. With a determined glint in her eyes, she set out to create a technique that would revolutionize her fighting style.

As she contemplated various ideas, an innovative concept began to take shape in her mind. The Deforestation Projectile Technique was born—an audacious and versatile technique that would allow her to strike multiple targets at once while harnessing the power of a thin wire or substitute.

Rio spent hours perfecting the projectiles, ensuring that the wire was expertly concealed from view of most warriors- least those without incredible visual perception. She tested the weight and balance of the projectiles, adjusting them to suit her combat style. The thin wire was the key to the technique's success, granting her the ability to fan out the projectiles and create a wide attack range.

The real challenge lay in mastering the throwing technique. Rio practiced tirelessly, honing her aim and timing to perfection. She experimented with different trajectories and angles, striving to ensure that the projectiles would spread out to their full width while remaining connected to the wire. She'd spent enough time attempting to throw the wire with something on two ends to figure out how each projectile acted as a weight, but she needed to learn to do this with her full force in order to get the effect she wanted.

Her training ground became a forest, filled with trees waiting to bear witness to Rio's determination. She practiced against them, aiming to create a wider impact while perfecting her technique. As the projectiles flew through the air, they seemed to dance with newfound elegance, unfurling the wire like a silent whip that struck with precision.

With each practice session, Rio knocked down entire parts of the forest, leaving a trail of uprooted trees in her wake. The Deforestation Projectile Technique had become a force to be reckoned with, a manifestation of Rio's creativity and adaptability in combat. With the ability to glaive through trees it was becoming more clear to her this technique was more of a decapitating move- something that could swiftly take the heads of multiple targets.

The technique's effectiveness was evident as the wire struck its targets with incredible force. Ocassionally, trees or rocks or durable enough things resisted the force of the wire completely removing it's cutting effect- but she found her technique still useful. Even against stronger foes, the wire wrapped around them like a bolo, restricting their movements and providing Rio with the upper hand if even for a brief moment.

With the Deforestation Projectile Technique at her disposal, Rio became a force of nature on the battlefield. Paying a local shinobi to make swathes of clones for her to combat against, she was increasingly able to take out wider zones- knocking out complete platoons of clones that came for her with only one action and two projectiles.

This was perhaps the height of her shootout style- the best technique she had invented thus far, and she was extremely interested in the cleverness she had achieved. The forest itself bore witness to her prowess, with uprooted trees serving as a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence. Day after day in the forest she did the move again, until finally she stood amidst the fallen trees, Rio knew that her dedication and ingenuity had given rise to a technique that would change the course of battles to come. The Decapitation Projectile Technique had become an embodiment of her strength, resourcefulness, and commitment to mastering the art of combat.

She'd be able to easily match the wide strikes of a shinobi using wind style- or the massive projectiles of rock a stone ninja would throw... but to truly be sure of the technique, she'd need to use it in battle at least once.

The battlefield erupted with chaos as opposing armies clashed in a fierce conflict. The resounding clash of swords and the screams of warriors filled the air as the fate of the battle hung in the balance. Among the chaos stood Rio, "The Forest Scythe," a legendary un-named warrior with a reputation that preceded her.

As the enemy troops surged forward, Rio calmly assessed the situation, her eyes gleaming with determination. She knew this was the perfect opportunity to unleash her newfound technique—the decapitation projectile technique she had invented.

With a flick of her wrist, Rio sent the twin projectiles soaring through the air. The thin wire connecting them remained hidden from sight, and the projectiles fanned out with remarkable precision, cutting through the enemy ranks like a scythe through a field of wheat. The wire, invisible to all but Rio, served as a deadly web, capturing unsuspecting soldiers in its path.

The projectiles found their marks, cutting down enemy soldiers with a devastating force. Those caught with a strength advantage of 5 or more were split in half, their demise a testament to the power of Rio's technique. The rest faced the bolo effect, as the wire rapidly wrapped around them, restricting their movements and leaving them vulnerable.

As the enemy troops reeled from the surprise attack, Rio's form blurred into motion as she activated the "Shifting Leaves" style. She moved with a fluid grace, evading enemy strikes with seemingly effortless ease. The falling leaves had nothing on her, for she was the embodiment of their dance—nimble, swift, and untouchable.

With each step, Rio closed the distance between her and the enemy, the Deforestation Projectile Technique and "Shifting Leaves" style working in harmony. As the enemy troops tried to regroup and retaliate, they found themselves defenseless against Rio's onslaught.

Swathes of enemy troops fell before her as she sliced through their ranks. The battlefield became a canvas of destruction, littered with fallen adversaries. Her technique was as lethal as it was elegant, leaving a trail of defeated soldiers in her wake.

The enemy commander, witnessing the devastation wrought by Rio's onslaught, sent his elite guards to face her. But Rio was unyielding, her resolve unwavering. She met each opponent with the same combination of deadly projectiles, her offense becoming her unrivaled defense as she fell soldier after soldier. In the heat of battle, Rio became a force of nature. She seemed to dance among the enemy troops, her movements swift and deadly, her projectiles finding their targets with lethal accuracy. The battlefield echoed with the cheers of her allies as they witnessed the prowess of "The Forest Scythe" firsthand.

Even as the battle raged on, Rio remained composed and focused. She knew that each move had to be calculated, each strike deliberate. She unleashed her technique not out of arrogance but out of necessity, for she had the power to change the tide of the battle and secure victory for her comrades.

As the dust settled and the enemy forces were scattered, Rio stood amidst the wreckage of the battlefield. Her technique had turned the tide of the battle, and her legend had grown even further. She had proven once again that innovation and adaptability were the hallmarks of a true warrior, and her name would be etched into history as a powerful mercenary.

But, just like that, as she felt the weight of the gold bag plop into her hand and recieved her payment- both in gold and the experience of her new technique, she disappeared into the night. No one in the minor country where she fought even knowing her name.
After weeks of practice and a practical usage as a merceary in a skirmish, she was confident her technique was perfected.

The Book of Araki Rio

Rio sat back at the kumogakure training grounds, where she had previously encountered Aki. She had originally come here with the goal of learning the tree climbing technique, but it had become something so much more. She had shifted her sights instead to pushing her limits and expanding her chakra reserves. It wasn't that she desired to be a shinobi- but out of her desire to make sure that she would be able to have enough energy to throw down with her opponents.

Taking a deep breath, Rio closed her eyes and centered herself. She started with simple breathing exercises, inhaling slowly and deeply, allowing the air to fill her lungs and then exhaling just as deliberately. With each breath, she imagined drawing in energy, infusing her body with vitality. It was a basic technique, but one that formed the foundation of her training.

Next, Rio began to focus on her chakra centers, visualizing them as glowing orbs of light within her body. She directed her awareness to each of these centers, from her crown to her base. With every inhalation, she imagined gathering chakra into these centers, allowing them to expand and flourish. It would be just like her dream while she was out cold, underneath the tree. Had Aki NOT woken her up she might of just reached some new enlightment no one yet knew on chakra. But eitherway, here they were.

Putting those thoughts away she began to to incorporate movement, performing gentle stretches and low-intensity exercises to encourage the flow of chakra through her body as it worked its way through her muscles. She had read about the importance of physical activity in chakra training, how it helped circulate and refine the energy within- and this made sense to her given she had recently learned even physical movement and fighting had used some amount of chakra, even if limited. Today though, she would try to see if that chakra could be expanded at all to her senses in order to improve her ability to fight.

As she moved, with a dash of her purposeful control she began to mold her chakra as she had learned in her previous exercise. She focused on compressing it into specific areas of her body, testing her ability to direct and mold it to the fullest of its limits. She visualized her chakra as a fluid substance, malleable and responsive to her intentions. It was a challenging task, demanding her full concentration but Rio was no stranger to this kind of difficulty and was certain she would be able to accomplish the task at hand. Before long she felt her muscles feel a bit different, though didn't notice any noticeable performance gains. Either way, not bad.

As hours past and Rio stayed resolutely at the training ground with unwavering determination and a fierce goal to push her chakra pool limitations, she could feel the strain in her muscles and the sweat on her brow, but she pushed through. She knew that progress was not born from comfort, and this endeavor was a testament to her commitment. Just like the hard-fought and hard-earned endurance and strength she had gained she would build her chakra reserves like any old muscle.

She would need to push harder though if she was to make the progress she was looking for today. With this in mind, she decided to try something new, completely unsure if it would work. Similar to the tree climbing technique she would mold chakra into her palms in dollops, but this time, she would keep it raw but focused. She aimed to create small bursts of concusive force, like little explosiosn, that would cause her hits to be stronger, but more importantly, take more chakra than the average punch. IN a way, it was like ankle weights but for chakra training. Quite impressed with her own talent and quick wit, it worked.

Undeterred, Rio moved on to more complex exercises. She combined her chakra control with physical movements, attempting to maintain a delicate balance between exertion and control. It was a fine line, and she had to constantly adjust her focus to avoid exhausting herself prematurely as she boxed her shadow, moving against the setting sun in fierce punches and blows. This was also surprisingly good training for her kata, of which she sorely lacked.

She would need a break though; but after getting some water and eating the onigiri she had packed she would be back on it. Striking against a post repeatedly until she hit a point of exhaustion, only to take a quick break, reset, and pull herself back at it again.

As the moon rose and cast its glow over Rio, she began to feel light headed but would not give in. She would keep pushign herself to her limits and achieve what she had come to Kumogakure for- to learn how to better fight shinobi, and with her intrepid determination she would break every last damn limit that ever got in her way. Snarling she smacked the wall. Her knuckles were fine and her hands surprisingly in good shape thanks to the chakra "weights" she had created. SHe was starting to grow too tired though, and the time between her resets and rests longer with each passing strike.

Deciding that she had already put in more than enough, Rio nearly hanged up the towel until the bells rung in her head. With a flurry of strikes and at the "pass out zone", her eyes began to close as things went black. Rio grit her teeth as she rallied all the strength she had left and swung for the training stump, only for a surge of energy to fill her and push her from behind.

Two more dallops of chakra formed at her hands than exploded gently against the trunk. They were weak, but it was more chakra than she had ever thought she had left in her. Stumbling backwards to the ground she fell, and looked up to the moon.

She had pushed past her previous record.

The Book of Araki Rio

The sun had just risen over the dusty desert village in Tea Country when Rio began her training. It had become her personal goal to ensure she would be the fastest bounty hunter this side of tea country... with her goal to watch over Suzuko and protect her. She was no spring chicken and having already quite great speeds, but her issue was running super human speeds caused her to tired it. She needed to gain more chakra reservers- make her pool bigger if she wanted to become faster. Doing dips, stretches, and warmp-ups to prep herself was probably a wise move to start with.

Rio would carefully begin to loosen her muscles and joints before she would move on to calisthenics. As her warmup continued she did push-ups, squats, and lunges, feeling her muscles burning with each repetition. She repeated this cycle several times, increasing the intensity of each exercise with each round. Finally, she finished with a series of high-intensity sprints, pushing her body to its limits. She wasn't tired yet though and had more than enough energy to make't so.

With her warm-up complete, Rio departed outside the village and for the deserts surrounding the village, feeling the sand crunching beneath her feet. This is where she would do her training for the day. She started off at a moderate pace, her muscles still feeling tight from her warm-up. But as she continued to run, she began to pick up speed. She concentrated on her form, pumping her arms and driving her knees forward. As Rio ran, she felt her muscles working harder than ever before. She felt the burn in her calves and thighs, but she refused to slow down. She focused on her breathing, taking deep, measured breaths to fuel her body. And then, something clicked.

Rio felt a rush of energy surge through her body. It was as if a switch had been flipped inside of her, and suddenly, she was running faster than she ever had before. She felt the wind rushing past her face, and she knew that she had unlocked a new level of speed. She pushed herself harder and harder, feeling her body adapt to the intense training. Her muscles grew stronger with each step, and her lungs expanded to take in more air. This was the sweet supply of ample chakra within her body that she had worked so hard to train up.

Taking a deep breath she pushed her pace into a swift jog feeling the sand crunch beneath her feet. She had done this countless times before but her goal today was a little different as she was determined to push herself to the brink of exhaustion. Still, it didn't mean she couldn't try to meter herself or find ways to improve her efficiency as she ran. Rio started to focus on her breathing, making sure to inhale and exhale deeply and evenly. She could feel her heart rate increasing, and she knew that she was starting to work her muscles harder than usual.

Rio continued to run, her mind and body in sync as she pushed herself faster and faster. She felt her legs burning, her lungs aching, but she refused to slow down. She wanted to feel the rush of breaking her own speed record.

After several minutes of running, Rio started to feel her muscles tightening up. She knew that she needed to stretch and warm up properly before continuing. She stopped and started stretching her muscles, focusing on her hamstrings, quads, and calves. She took a deep breath and continued her run. Her chakra reserves were reaching deep to flood her body with the chakra it craved, as if it was something better than oxygen.

Rio's legs started to feel heavier as she approached the halfway point of her run. Her breathing became more labored, and she could feel the sweat pouring down her face. She started to doubt herself, wondering if she had bitten off more than she could chew but memories flooded her head of her father. Of Sega. Of Suzuko. The kind of anime montage memories that allowed a girl to dig deep, and such she did as she focused on the rhythm of her breath and the sound of her feet hitting the sand.

As she ran, Rio started to feel a surge of energy coursing through her body. She knew that she was approaching a breakthrough, but she also knew that she had to keep pushing. She gritted her teeth and increased her speed, feeling the wind rush past her face. Suddenly, she stumbled over a rock and almost fell. Skining her knee a she fell she let out an extremely loud,

"fucking hell!", blushing despite no one there to see her all too obvious mistake... Pulling herself back up and putting weight on her leg, she checked that her leg was fine. Despite her ego a little bruised Rio realized that she needed to be more mindful of her surroundings if she wanted to run at this level of speed.

She continued to run, her focus now divided between her muscles and the terrain ahead. She started to pay more attention to the dips and curves of the desert landscape, making sure to adjust her pace and footing accordingly. And then, finally, Rio felt it. A rush of energy surged through her body, and she knew that she had unlocked a new level of speed. She could feel her legs moving faster than ever before, her muscles working in perfect harmony.

Rio kept running with the exhilaration of her speed. She hadn't ever reached these speeds before for this maintained of a distance, and knew it was all thanks to how much she had trained her chakra reserves. As he legs began to crumple and she collapsed into the sands just outside the village, a smile came over her face. She had successfully pushed past another limit and could feel her stamina- a combination of endurance and chakra pool growing. This. This was the power the shinobi had had.

The Book of Araki Rio

That couldn't be just it- hell no. After she had taken a nice cold bath and rested in her home, she had told herself she could do more. Rio would lay in her bead as her body surged with chakra. To train ones chakra pool, one simply needed to spend chakra. This could be done passively, at all times and anytime. Least how Rio figured it. And thus, she kind of envisioned something similar to a filter. Like when you rolled a paper filter yourself- wait funnel. That's the word her and the fool writing this wanted.

Rio knew that all chakra pool training required was chakra usage. So, Rio began to release chakra out her tenketsu and her body. She did not form it nor did she make use of it to do a jutsu- she just statically let it out. One could potentially burn all their energy in one go but in this case Rio knew the long game was what mattered more. So she would apply a funnel of sorts, letting out a small but constant stream of chakra non-stop at al times. Just enough that she'd never pass out, but enough to burn through her reserves and force her body to continuously empty.

The plan was simple. Do this in her sleep. It wasn't a really complicated plan. So, ready to put it into action Rio went to bed as her funnel began to let out the chakra. It was perfect. Rio nearly smiled at her plan. And so that night she did this, and that night she also eventually would fall asleep.

As she slept Rio had some pretty good dreams. This whole time she had been controlled by some guy in a chair behind some device that emitted a strange energy from it. Some screen of sorts. That guy couldn't make anything happen unless he clacked his fingers on some buttons in the shape of a rectangle, like board of buttons. A button board will you. He also seemed to abrbitrarily write a lote of stuff that at first he took extremely seriously, but after writing a couple thousand words in one go, he seemed to get tired and kind of lose care. IN any case, in her dream she saw this guy training his fingers so that she could train her chakra pool. Just when things were getting good though his wife yelled at him to come clean.

Rio awoke, wide eyes, from the hellish nightmare she had seen. Surely that wasn't the gods she and people in her realm believed in. Ignoring it and taking a glance at her alarm clock she realized that she had slept for some seven hours. The whole time her chakra leaked, and here she was, not dead. It could only mean one thing... that, Rio had infact, successfully tilted her chakra on edge for an entire night.

She would later go attempt to climb a tree and found that she could adhere to the tree for a factor of 5 greater than the day before, having proven her hack had worked.

Academy Instructors would hate her for her secret.
