Dreams Work to Make the Team Work

Juu focused on the ki as it emanated out from his hand to cover the naginata he was holding. There was no reason that he was doing this, except to better understand the mysteries of ki. He knew that the better he understood ki, the more power he could draw out from it. There was the added benefit that he could teach other samurai how to utilize the energy which would help strengthen the Heart Empire. He still had to teach Mak how to use ki, but he was still trying to understand how he tapped into the affinity of his chakra. At least, that's what Fuhen had called it when he'd seen Juu's unique ki, said to have the suiton passive. The ki flowed around his naginata, Juu purposely controlling the energy to move around the long weapon in his hand. If he could truly understand how he'd done it, then he could teach Mak to do the same, as well as any other samurai that were interested. After a moment, the white ki turned bluish and seemed more liquid in nature. Juu had done it on purpose, of course, but he still wasn't entirely sure how he'd done it. He pushed the bluish ki around the weapon, slowly forming the liquid like energy into various shapes and designs.

The ki coating retained its sharp edge despite its more fluid-like appearance. The ki went from blue to white and then back and forth a few more times. Juu certainly understood how to alter his ki to accomplish the feat of using the suiton passive, that much was clear with how easily he was able to change his ki from its innate form to the elemental one. Fuhen had informed Juu about the suiton passive, its enveloping nature and how it could hold onto things. Despite this information, Juu felt a bit let down as he'd have preferred something more flashy and damaging like fire or lightning. In truth, Juu knew that he just needed to continue to utilize the tools he had at his disposal, as he was doing now, and with much practice he'd be able to use the suiton to deadly effect.

The young samurai stood in the middle of one of New Tea Country's training grounds, a common place to run into samurai that wanted to enhance their skills. The sun was high over head, but the breeze kept the field a comfortable place to be. Juu's ki continued to sweep over the weapon, growing thinner in the middle and thicker near its blade. He slowly turned the weapon, controlling the weapon with his hands and his ki with his mind. It wasn't too hard for him, but he still considered himself a novice when it came to the use of his ki. As the weapon moved, he lowered its blunt end to the ground and watched as the suiton ki 'enveloped' rocks and dirt. Then as he turned the weapon through the air, the dirt and rocks moved along inside the bluish ki. Juu still seemed amazed that his ki could hold onto things in this way, though he hadn't fully developed a means to utilize this fact in combat. He sped up the rotation before suddenly stopping it which essentially launched the rocks out of the ki coating that surrounded his weapon into the air. A small smile appeared on Juu's face as an idea came to him.

He once again placed the ki coated end of his naginata to the ground, allowing it to pick up about four or five small pebbles. Using nothing but his ki, he moved the pebbles from the lowered blunt end of the naginata up the shaft, slowly, using a good deal of his concentration. It was easy for him to control the ki as he saw fit, but it was proving a bit more difficult to control the ki to move the tiny objects as he saw fit. With just the ki, it didn't matter which ki went where as long as it went to where he wanted ki. With the pebbles, however, he found it a good deal more difficult as he had to push them around with the ki. It was like a log flowing down a stream, it just wanted to go whichever direction the water took it, but always downstream. Juu felt like he was trying to push the pebbles upstream.

Eventually, the pebbles arrived at the tip of the spear and Juu pointed the weapon towards a large boulder. The boulder would act as his target. Juu then thrust his spear forward with all his might, causing the ki coating to do the same thing. The suiton's enveloping strength wasn't enough to hold onto the pebbles and all of them shot forward as if from some sort of launcher.

Dreams Work to Make the Team Work

The young monk had only been in the Heart Empire for a few days, after all it was a growing place and it had been a somewhat difficult journey coming from the north through Fire country and then turning to the southwest in order to move down the coastline before finally arriving on the border of the New Tea country. There he had requested to enter the new empire and wanted to change his citizenship to become part of the growing number of people who were interested in the recent changes of the country after the old Tea country loyalist, Ikuto, took over as the new Daimyo. But his true intent was to find a man known as the 'Grand Shogun' as supposedly this man whose real name was Fuhen was the man who his mother had claimed to be the father figure who had never ever been in his life and perhaps didn't enough know that he existed to begin with. Yet, he had promised himself and his late mother that he would seek out this man and make it known...he wished to judge this man to see just what kind of person that he was. Of course, there was a lot of pent-up resentment for the man who wasn't there for him or his mother but as a man who was seeking to improve his strength to help cleanse the world of not only the evil that lingered between the spirit realms and the human realm but also the evil that lurked right here in the form of twisted humans, Tamashi needed to meet this man and to also work on growing from a young boy to a man himself. Perhaps this man could help him in that as anyone who helped another overturn a corrupt leader couldn't possibly be too bad of a person themselves. Or at least that was what the young boy hoped for as he trudged along pulling his hood up over his head to hide the small black horns that truly betrayed what his actual intent was as many just judged the monk on his appearance alone that was perceived to be in line with a user of the dark arts or black magic.

But on this route, he would not run into the man he was looking for but instead a boy training himself in some long looking weapon was first heard before the golden eyes of the traveling spirit priest could see him, the weapon whipping around at such speeds that all young Tama saw was the blur left in its wake and not the actual blade itself. Yet, what perhaps interested the man the most was that he was able to see the actual qi which was being manifested by the spearman who launched rocks into the air that the very qi had latched onto itself. It was a powerful visual of what pure spirit qi manifestation looked like coming from his spirit monk background, he wasn't yet familiar with what Ki or chakra were and could only call it by what he knew it to be. Not trying to pry but the young wandering monk couldn't help himself but to move closer in an attempt to observe just how the man was able to wield the weapon and manifest the qi onto it with such a refined precision, perhaps he could learn something to help him refine his own newly acquired qi skills that would allow him to more easily control the qi souls that had latched onto his own through the spirit cleansing process of the evil spirits Tamashi encountered. "So cool..." As though his own qi could feel the strength of the Ki of the other man the boy felt a slight shiver run down his spine like a powerful, yet invisible wave of the man's energy had wafted his way due to his sensitivity to the spirit of others, even in living things such as people or animals. Though it was very powerful it didn't have a evil feel, in fact it almost felt like pure energy as it flowed out from the man like a gentle warmth, this was a rather different experience for sure and only caused the interest on the young monk's side to increase as he tried to observe without bothering the young man.

But Tamashi wasn't the only one watching the incredible display of qi usage combine with the quick and powerful movements of the man's long weapon, jumping up upon the young man's shoulder with relative ease for a feline as small as she was, the black furred cat with its strange golden rings on its body seemed to have no trouble leaping up to four feet from the ground. Landing gently upon the boy's shoulder to the point that even though she weighted around three-to-four lbs. the yellow eyed monk barely even noticed the feline friend of his sneaking a peak. 'What's he doing?' The cat's spiritual nature allowed for it to speak directly to the young man in close proximately like there were right now showing interesting in the man as she hadn't encountered many other humans in her life and she'd never seen one use a weapon so she couldn't help but be curious, like a cat. Tama laughed quietly to himself as his left hand with its dark patches of skin reached up and softly stroked just under the cat's chin down her soft fur onto her chest causing the feline to shift her own head to the side and nuzzle against the pale skin of the young boy's right cheek. 'Training, little Kasha-chan. But he's the first person I've met in my short journey who's able to manifest his qi like that upon his weapon and even the qi that he's using seems unique.'

The tiny eyebrow of the cat like creature perked up, shifting its almost glowing golden eyes out towards the man who was flowing through a series of different techniques that seemed to blend into a single fluid motion that almost mesmerized the young spirit animal. For a moment a shadow black chakra outlined the feline as its shadow started to wiggle just slightly become malformed or perhaps miss shaped was a better word for it. This was the power bestowed upon the formerly stray alley cat by the mischievous shadow spirit it had encountered not so long ago, though the animal understood that the power given to it as a gift or a curse pertained to the use of its shadow the cat simply couldn’t grasp it just yet…

Juu approached the boulder, checking to see how much damage his makeshift attack had caused to the rock. Despite peering at the rock, the young spearman kept the blue ki coating on his weapon, flowing along its considerable length. He'd long since realized that a swordsman utilizing ki would have much less need for the precise control that Juu was training simply due to the smaller weapon, but with his weapon of choice, the spear, Juu knew that he had to move the ki around to protect the weapon or use much more ki to accomplish the same task as a ki wielding swordsman. The boulder showed four small impacts from the rocks he'd sent at it. His relatively impressive strength had allowed the rocks to mark the boulder, but no considerable damage was done. With practice and more training, Juu was sure he could turn the thrust into a viable weapon for combat.

Juu had already considered utilizing the ki projectile technique with a thrust to allow him to attack from a distance, but the technique had a very limited range. He now contemplated using rocks, or some other small item, instead to attack from a range. Throughout the war, Juu had seen and come into contact with many a shinobi and was well aware that many of them preferred attacking from a distance which meant either Juu would have to do the same or find a means shortening the distance. For the moment, Juu was focused on lengthening his own attack range. He had considered increasing the range and capability of the ki projectile technique, but had not had much luck in making that increase feasible. With an abundance of ki, he had gotten his ki projectile to go almost 30 meters, about 10 meters further than normal, but it wasn't an effective combat technique as it required far too much ki and produced barely negligible results. Ignoring that for the moment, Juu focused his ki towards the tip of his naginata and twirled the weapon a few times before finally launching a piece of the ki off of the coating which still remained around his weapon.

As he had suspected, the ki managed to go about 20 meters before dissipating into nothingness. While the results of the attack were less than satisfactory, Juu was now convinced that with time and more control over his ki, he could create an evolution of the ki projectile technique. With enough hard work and practice, Juu would develop an improved version that could be used at a much further range than the original. As Juu continued to manipulate the ki, he turned to walk towards the center of the training ground when he realized that someone was watching his training. As the blue ki continuously moved around the naginata, he narrowed his eyes, trying to see the person more clearly. Giving up on that, Juu, with his naginata held with both hands steadily above his head with the energy still flowing around the weapon, moved towards his voyeur. "Hello!" He called out, a friendly tone in his voice. The young spearman wasn't upset or suspicious, he was just curious why someone would watch him train.

With the blue ki flowing back and forth his mind still partially focusing on controlling the energy as it ebbed and flowed, Juu continued walking towards the monk. He couldn't help but notice the monk's odd coloring and lack of hair, but Juu also noticed this wasn't just a random onlooker: this man was a warrior. His upper body was uncovered and his toned muscles were evidence enough that this man could fight if needed. That almost made Juu more curious as to why he was watching: random Heart Empire citizens may not be accustomed to the sort of sights Juu was just putting on, but another warrior likely saw these sorts of things before. At least, that's what the spearman assumed. He was almost tempted to ask the warrior for a spar, but he then realized why the monk was there. "You need the training ground? 'cause I can find somewhere else if you do." Juu asked as he focused his ki into a small, condensed ball at the blunt of end of his naginata which he held vertically, so the ball was near his knee. It was the only thing that made sense in Juu's mind: he wanted the training ground to perfect his own skills. It was a notion that Juu understood and admired. He had no qualms moving out of the way so that others could train, besides he knew of other spots if needed. Juu finally let the ki dissipate completely, showing the newcomer that he was done with his own training if the monk did, in fact, need the training ground.

Dreams Work to Make the Team Work

"Oi!" The friendly greeting somewhat surprised the rather pale looking monk as he awkwardly waved his hand towards the spearman who had called out first to him, the naginata still held above his head with both hands as the boy could still see the bright blue qi flowing around the weapon despite him diverting his focus momentarily to greet Tama. 'It seems to almost be easy for him to manipulate the qi. I wonder just how long the man has been training his qi to be at such a level of control with it...' Tama thought quietly to himself, taking a subconscious step back in awe of the boy or perhaps young man who didn't appear to be far off from his own age. Was this man a shinobi? He'd only encountered a few and each of them wore a band of some sort with the symbol for their own village on it, proudly displaying where they were from. But as he looked over the young man in the distance still slightly, he couldn't pick out a headband or any sort of defining markings with the brief look over, though he felt that just from the initial greeting that Juu was a decent fellow. But he hadn't expected the man before him to pause his own personal training, at least to an extent, in order to walk over and speak with him more than just the casual hello. Which honestly made the young monk just a bit nervous as he was still rather weak, or at least that was how he considered himself to be when not dealing with the spirits and the nether, physically he wasn't much of a challenge to more than the average man let alone a warrior like figure who was before him.

Quickly the young man raised both of his dark-skinned hands, waving them from one side to the other quickly as if to wave off any notion of him attempting to use this training ground or push the figure himself off of it. That was truly not his intent as the sounds of the man's training had caught the attention of the big eared cat that traveled with Tama and she had told him causing both the young man and his spirit animal to become intrigued. After all, he had just arrived within the borders of the newly named 'Heart Empire' with Tea country serving as its capital state. He hadn't expected to run into anyone just after entering the countryside but something about Juu told the monk that he wasn't necessarily a bad person, even still the man felt his hands reach up scratched the side of his cheek as the tiny dark colored horns of its protruded just outside the fluffy mess that he called his hair. "It is not that, sir." Tamashi replied quickly after his hand motion from a moment earlier, "I just haven't met many people who can control their Qi in such a way as you do through your weapon." His golden eyes glanced from the warrior before him to the weapon as the qi in it had shifted into almost like a ball form on the blade, it was as though controlling the qi was a miniscule task for the fighter. As he quietly observed the man his little feline was also observing, she too was interested in the man. Kasha's qi was different that Shi's was and so he hadn't truly been able to help the young spirit creature learn to control her own power. This was because Shi drew his own strength from the nether realm and the qi there was also a form of dark qi, but it still wasn't the same as the cat's but perhaps both of them could learn a thing or two, maybe some pointers from the stranger.

The tiny feline was the first to step forward, not feeling any strange or bad vibes coming off Juu as she inched closer looking like the shaped blue qi that was on the blade of the long polearm weapon wielded by the young man. "I was just curious how you were able to manipulate the qi so easily. " He paused briefly as from the bottom of his vision he could see his companion inching her way closer to the man with the weapon, but he only tilted his head to look down at her antics at the moment before realizing that he had stopped mid statement and so continued to reply to the stranger now. "My feline friend is named Kasha. And she's quite the special feline as she is able to use chakra and even manipulate her shadow to an extent. But I'm afraid I don't personally know a lot about forming and manipulating qi. " He stopped once more and brought his hands together as the palms touched lightly along with the fingertips of each hands coming to rest ever so gently on the opposing hands fingertips, his hands looking like prayer hands at the moment. "If it isn't intruding too much on your own personal training." The respectful nature of the young man who was raised under the guarded gaze of priest and monks due to what it is that his family did for the world he had learned the meaning of giving respect to those around you at a fairly young age. Meanwhile the little dark furred cat with its big ears and strangely defined golden rings upon that dark fur raised its little paw up and almost wanted to poke or touch at the polearm weapon of the man but her curiosity was halted with a quick 'Don't do that!' whispered mentally from her master.

Taking a few small steps back the cat then lowered its rear to the ground, assuming a setting position as her strange dark red eyes scanned the fighter from his toes all the way up to his own pretty face. The tiny cat seemed to almost glow with its dark black chakra which was a bit difficult to see against the dark fur of the creature except where it passed over the contrasting golden rings of fur that really caused for Kasha to stand out from the normal pet, even if you disregarded her abnormally elongated ears. Once again, her own tiny shadow that could just barely be seen around the right side of her body due to the angle of the sun started to wiggle like before, only this time it started to stretch just slightly outward. This action caused for it to stretch toward her owner first but then it snapped back into place. Shaking her head, the little feline closed her eyes to concentrate as the faint glow of the dark qi being emitted by the cat attempting to channel her inner chakra could be seen to glow just a little bit stronger with just the naked eye viewing as the tiny shadow stretched out about two feet where it came into contact with the shadow of the polearm and inadvertently the shadow of Juu, as well. Though with the weak control that Kasha had over her own spiritual qi gifted to her by the shadow spirit, it wasn't enough to even cause the man to flinch. Perhaps he didn't even notice himself due to how weak her control was over her own shadow manipulation.

Even at the moment she didn't know what to think of it as he dull red eyes slowly opened, surprised to discover that she had been able to stretch her shadow over double the distance that the spirit animal had been able to just a few days ago. Slowly but surely the new companion of Tamashi was coming into her own, despite being rather weak now the monk believed that in the future she would truly be a force that could help him to find and purge all the evil spirits that roamed the human realm. Within himself he could feel the slight tug upon his own soul from the three evil ghosts that he had brought with himself to slowly purge so that upon his own death he could carry them to the other side which they so desperately refused to go, but under his charge they would have no way of escaping their fate after each one was bound to his own soul, truly becoming a part of him just as he became a part of them. But he truly wasn't here for himself and was caught off guard when his little companion had focused her qi to such a level that she could freely manipulate her shadow and cause it to stretch in a single direction. Just days ago, the little cat could only make her tiny shadow tremble to stretch in not uniform ways. Was it her watching the way the man before them manipulated his weapon qi that caused for the cat to have a small breakthrough of her own? Tamashi truly couldn't be sure, but it did seem that this was just another way that faith had guided him to someone who could potentially help him along both the quest to help strengthen his feline companion but also discover a bit about the possible where abouts of a certain other swordsman.
