[Invasion of Iwa - Konoha Offense] Battle Site 2 - Southeast Wall

The Wall of Iwagakure no Sato could be confused as part of the mountain range if one didn't know what they were looking for. The monolithic structure stood 150m meters tall and boasted a thickness bragged about in innuendos continent-wide. Today, however, only 50m of its impressive girth would be fought on as the Blast Shield had been raised to cover the village. Centered at the top of the section of Wall stood one of the defensive towers, its own height rising an additional 40m into the sky while its base, which touched against the Blast Shield, measured only 30x30m.

At the base of the wall, a thin 2m strip of earth separated the base of the Wall from the moat of lava surrounding it. The moat was filled with burning hot lava sloshing about measuring 30m deep and reaching out 100m into the icy tundra which made up the valley the village was situated in.

Saigo and Tenzin will be placed at this site, starting at 200m away instead of the normal 100m.

Thr chill of the southeast wall almost put the Aisu to shame it wasn't an enviroment that Mondai had gotten used to even in his brief time being in iwagakure. Kirigakure was coold but not quite this cold so it wasn't something that he was going to adjust to anytime soon.

But an even deeper chill was bothering him a very familiar chill that he had everytime a battle was brewing. Same in oasis and every other battle he had experienced. Somehow despite all the fighting he had done in his life this feeling he would never get used to.

He had faced death before many time but his fight with Kozan was the closest he had ever gotten. Yet he survived with fewer limbs and oone sentence that plauged mind. "A good shinobi dies on the battlefield. "

Mondai stood quietly like a stoic sentinel waiting his orders. Today he would either die a good shinobi or he would prove to his allies in country why he was given the honor of being part of the legendary seven swordsmen of the mist.

The bite of the cold felt like it could cut through any layer of clothing one might wear. It was a familiar sensation that brought a feeling of nostalgia to a masked man as he trudged forward toward the site of his fated reunion. Garbed in his black vest style trench coat and grey uniform jacket, he stood out against the icy tundra around him. A black form in a sea of white, trudging forward until he was close to approaching the moat. Steam puffed out from behind the mask that hid his identity, spiral themed motive centered upon one of the eyes. Around his neck and head, he'd wrapped his green infinity scarf to keep his head and neck warm while also obscuring his features. He'd been feeding a false name to anyone around him he talked to in order to hid his true self, even as he'd done in other outings to aid Konoha or even attend visits to Suna.

Coming to a halt, he turned his head to glance back at the person who was to attend this place with him. Shifting his eyes back front, he kept walking forward. He had a question to shout to the battlements of the wall. It was an idle curiosity that had bothered him since he'd begun the trek to Iwagakure. Coming close to the moat of lava, he stood there for a moment and stared up at the wall. That familiar feature he grew up behind. That he'd done battle upon against his own sister. That he'd left behind him so long ago. While he'd made peace and prayed forgiveness long ago for his sister's spirit to forgive him, he now had only one thing that needed answering.

Reaching up, the masked man gripped the bottom of his mask and pulled it off his face, the strap that held it in place pulling the infinity scarf free. Long pale blonde, almost white, hair was swept to the side in the wind that pulled across the tundra. His other hand reached up and tucked some of his loose bangs and locks behind his ear as his green eyes trailed back up to the silhouettes upon the wall. Breathing in the air without the mask, Takamori Saigo release his first unhindered breath of Iwagakure air. Holding up the mask, his glowing green eyes stared at it before he casually tossed it into the moat of lava, the item bursting into to flame before even touching the substance and then just burning away into the molten rock.

"Nice moat, Certainly hope they have a Youton user here to make it worth the effort. Otherwise it's just useless." He stated to himself before glancing back to the figures on the wall. Sucking in a breath he opened his mouth and spoke in a loud but clear voice towards the lot of them. "I have a question! Is Shigaraki's Izakiya still open? I recall it being on the upper levels with the general markets, closer to the northern side near the northern side of things."

His question broke the soft sounds of caressing wind and his visage was clear as his bingo book entry from even in his 20s. Looking like he hadn't aged practically at all, standing opposite the silhouettes was a man who'd escaped the village so long ago. Takamori Saigo, the Doctor or Mad Doctor still to some. Thought to have vanished off the face of the map many years ago, even from the prying eyes yet here he stood alive and well. Heaving another breath, he spoke once more as he revealed himself to Iwa for the first time in ages. "It was one of my favorite places to eat as a child. But tell them not to worry, they won't have to fear the Grim Reaper of the Hidden Stone paying them a visit today."

If his appearance didn't give give away who he was to those of sharp minds(and knowledge of the bingo book), then his nom de guerre from his kidnap and experiment days in the village should. His body count back then was decently sized and he'd started his medical career on a pile of victims. Remembering the way he prowled the streets and moved through shadows to abduct people made him shiver before turning and starting back towards his companion. Forming a string of hand seals, there was an explosion of smoke near Saigo as he moved, his arms snaked out and visibly whipped through the snow, carving out a message down to the dirt itself. That message simple in nature and sizeable enough that even from the wall they could make out the characters:

Takamori Saigo lives.

With his message given, he smiled at his comrade as he walked past them. "Come on, let's get back to camp before we catch frostbite." He chuckled as he made his way from the battlefield site. Meanwhile, standing where the smoke had flared up, a second Saigo stood there waiting to see if there would actually be an answer to his question.

A-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to 1/3rd the users Chakra Pool). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own, be given complex commands, caught in genjutsu, and can even bleed, but they will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for Chakra Pool, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect.

EDIT: Saigo dropped a shadow clone near the lava moat and left it there.

What is this freezing feeling? The odd crisp in the air was more than just a crisp, it was frigid. Tenzin couldn't help but shiver a little bit as the cold penetrated him with no care in the world. The silver haired man watched as the daunting field of Iwagakure was before him and Saigo. The shinobi didn't have many words for the village covered in rocks, but he did have distain for their Tsuchikage that killed off their Hokage.

The failed leader looked upon Saigo as he walked forward to taunt a little bit. Admittedly so, he didn't know Saigo that well, only stories. However, him shouting sweet nothings to the war zone proved he clearly had history. The Anbu Commander folded his arms as the old man was borderline yelling at clouds. When he turned around and noted that it was time to go, Tenzin smirked a bit and followed his lead. As they left the battlefield Tenzin noted: "You couldn't help yourself huh?" Tenzin noticed a puff of smoke as they left the battlefield. Although Tenzin was tempted, he knew at this point, they should just leave and be done with this. They followed the Hokage's plan and had hoped it would pay off.

Akari Kotaru had been ready for a fight.

The moment Iwagakure had gotten word that the new Hokage was bold enough to declare war, Kotaru wanted blood. He had been looking forward to terrorizing the bastards of the Sand, to clawing away at their sense of self and security while his brethren pillaged them for all they were worth. And to him, they weren't worth much. The bannin had never wanted to pull back and change their plans. Iwagakure would be fine, he had argued. Both Akari brothers didn't need to stay to defend. But eventually he had relented, coerced by the promise of a fight to defend his village. The consolation prize was supposed to be making Konoha regret bringing the fight to Iwagakure's doorstep.

Instead, on the day of the attack, Kotaru was met with a disappointing and infuriating scene. At the southeastern wall, the trio stood atop the Wall with the frigid air of late winter biting at their exposed skin. They had been waiting for the attackers for so long that Kotaru had sat down, one leg dangling over the side of the massive wall. He had long since manifested his melashiin, and the eight tendrils were curled comfortably around him. As still as a statue he waited, his sea green eyes hardly blinking as they waited for what seemed like ages for the attack. Finally someone appeared, and his lips curled when he realized the assault was to be only two people. Two people who were walking casually towards them as if they didn't have a care in the world.

"No fucking way."

Even from this distance Kotaru recognized the man who lazily tossed a mask into the moat of lava surrounding the wall. The bannin leaned forward, hardly believing his luck. Over the years a few rumors had reached Kotaru's ears that Saigo was still alive, perhaps fraternizing with other missing ninja or with Iwagakure's enemies. But the hunters of Iwagakure had paused their pursuit of the Doctor long ago, finding that none of the rumors and stories had been worth pursuing. But now the bastard had delivered himself directly to one of the men who would happily order his death, without hesitation.

The Akari stood to his feet and his melashiin stretched out behind him almost excitedly as he began to channel chakra. But seconds later, the glow around Kotaru faded. His expression shifted from murderous hunger to confused disbelief. What the hell kind of question was that? It didn't matter, Kotaru told himself while he tried to shake off his initial confusion. Instead of attacking immediately Kotaru frowned as he watched Saigo scrawl a message into the ground as if he were a child playing on the beach. Thoughts whirled in Kotaru's head as it quickly became evident that these people didn't intend to fight. The man's eyes briefly cut to the west where he knew Tatsuo was stationed. He strained his ears for any sign that a fight had begun there. He heard nothing.

Cowards.

Rage sparked in Kotaru's gut, though the man's disbelief prevented it from fully igniting. His eyes darkened and he found himself drawing in a deep, slow breath, eyeing the pair as they turned away. "Stay here." The wings of his eroshiin flexed briefly before he took off into the air, eyes like daggers as he watched the enemy retreat. When he finally landed Saigo and his partner were gone, leaving only a shadow clone behind. "Grim Reaper my ass," the bannin snarled as he stared down the clone, at the visage of a man who had adopted the pusillanimous habits of the Leaf. Saigo didn't even have the balls to engage in a fight. To risk dying in his homeland. "A reaper would embrace death, not run from it. A reaper would reap. I should hunt you down and slaughter you and your ilk like the rats you are. Wouldn't take long. I can pick out your disgusting, cowardly scent from the rest of them now."

As the reality of the situation sunk in, the fury within him thickened and settled as a coiled mass in his chest. Then, one by one his melashiin ignited and casted a devilish glow onto the man's features. "Run away, Saigo. If you ever step foot in this country again, there will be no retreating. I will rip you apart myself, mind and body, and I'll enjoy every second of it." With that, he turned his back to the clone and the eight fiery tendrils swiped it with more than enough force to pop it. Takamori Saigo may live, but his days were numbered. The hellhound of Iwagakure would make sure of it.

By channeling chakra into his shiin, Kotaru coats his melashiin in katon chakra, which covers the entirety of the tendrils in flames that add a one foot diameter of katon chakra to each tendril, and extends one foot from the tip of the tendrils.
