Beachside Barbecue [open]

Post by Kanade » Thu Apr 04, 2024 9:11 pm

Kanade made her way to the edge of the beach where the sand undercut the grassy shoreline, stretching out for a good half-mile before reaching the azure giant that was the sea. She had only been on the sea twice, and the last time she had almost died. Shaking her head, she slapped her cheeks to focus herself before looking back at the cart that she had brought with her. Pulled by a donkey which she had acquired from a local, she had stocked up on all sorts of raw supplies and had packed it in nice and tight until she had got there.

She pulled out a map from her backpack and turned it upside down, then upside down again, scratching her head and sighed, "This is where they said I could set up, I think?" She looked back at the signs she had planted along the road and then back at the sun that was just cresting the eastern bit of the beach, near the water. She was early, by exactly a couple of hours if she was any judge of time. Unluckily for her, she was terrible at directions. She hoped that this place would actually attract customers who were enjoying a day at the beach. Right next to the beach road would be the ideal place to set up, she thought and started to weave hand seals. If she was going to set up a restaurant it would have to be a bit bigger than the last one, as the tables were packed during the previous iron banner event. She wondered how many people that had eaten there had died in the previous invasion of Sunagakure as she placed her hands on the ground. A structure made completely of Megallium, her signature metal, erupted from the ground, 200 meters by 200 meters, with an upstairs of the same dimensions, roughly 50 feet tall all said and done. She had used the same jutsu before, but had made it a house of healing. Practice made perfect, however, and now she was able to make structures that suited her wants as she liked. She could have made it out of Doton, but didn't know whether or not that would put off the customers or not. For sure, the walls that were made of corrugated megallium and the roof of the same would be like a beacon in the sun, and would allow people from miles around to tell where she was.

She moved to the donkey, whose mouth was hanging open. She led him to the back of the structure to the back door, roughly 10 feet by 10 feet, a service door and brought the cart to beside the building before unhooking the beast and tapping her rear three times. At the signal, the donkey took off, a small pouch of ryo jangling against its bridle as it walked rather quickly away from the building that hadn't been there 20 minutes before. She wove some more seals, creating 16 more of herself and nodded, "Right, you all know what to do, we've got a lot of work, so let's get to unpacking and making this 'inn' a reality."

Slowly, loading all of the megallium lamps with oil, rolling out carpets, rearranging furniture she kept in her pocket dimension, and in general stocking, sorting, and smoothing out the place the first day, she finally turned in into one of the 36 identical bedrooms upstairs, her clones all disappearing one by one so that she wouldn't receive the shock of putting in a hard days work 16 times over all at once.. She had made each one roughly 500 square feet with built in fireplace, bathroom accommodations, furniture which she had supplied from her pocket dimension, and other necessities that people would need. The day had been spent getting ready, tomorrow would be a new day, opening day!

The next morning, she placed fuuinjutsu on each wall and on each bedroom inner wall, a reinforcement fuuinjutsu, taking breaks between to rest and regain her chakra. She wanted for her guests to feel just as welcome and safe here as anywhere else.

------

The smells that wafted out out of the japanese styled restaurant, complete with megallium reinforced Shoji, freshly laid tatami mats, and a fresh coat of light ocean blue paint on the outside walls, (so as not to blind the customers coming in and keep the heat down) were what brought her first customers. She offered an entire sea-food themed cuisine and was selling her dishes at only a 10% upscale of the price for the materials. The grill was already started and she handed her first customers some grilled Ikayaki. The next customers each ordered Takoyaki and a crepe filled with cream to take with them down to the beach. Kanade smiled as she worked, two of her clones that she had made were manning the tables. She wasn’t able to hide the obvious burgeoning baby bump that she had, but wasn’t so far along as to be moving around any slower than she had been five months ago.

Some samurai trained outside on the beach, and a patrol went by every fifteen minutes as the actual aroma country event kicked off and got underway. This inn would house a couple of samurai, but would be a good rest spot for anyone who wanted to hang their coats and kick off their shoes in a place where they felt safe for the entirety of the festivities. Rooms were reasonably priced, only barely above room prices in town, as the rooms mostly had beach-side views. The corner of the restaurant faced the sea, and the only rooms which did not have a view were reserved for staff, and the samurai who were staying in the hotel itself. The rest offered either a scenic view of the local village and gentle countryside or of the beach and the ocean itself.

A cheery dispositioned waitress clone would seat anyone who wished to stay at megallium tables, around which sat the chairs from her own restaurant back home. The tables were all affixed to the floor, with a large bar-style table around a grill in the middle where Kanade, the real one, busied herself on the griddle, in the oven, and on the open-flame grill. The fume hood that she had made in the middle of the restaurant soon permeated a good sized area around the literal pop up Inn.

Kanade's butterflies permeated the entirety of the inn, carrying towels, filling water basins, and generally being good hosts. They were so spread out, they seemed as much a part of the place as the cook and innkeeper in the center of the structure.

A sign hung, slightly askew and leaning to the left with hastily painted Kanji, “Here today, Gone tomorrow Inn.” Below that was a sign which said, “Vacancies.” To the left of the door was a small sign that said, "Temp Help wanted for event. Apply inside."

After performing the required hand seals, the user will cause megallium to sprout from a place within 100m of their location in a solid Megallium structure of up to 160m^3 at [Control] speed with [control] strength. The roof and walls are reinforced by up to 5 layers of Megallium. This structure can have rooms, and they can choose to have working in-door locks, open windows, shutters, and other bare structural features as long as they are attached to the floor, walls, or ceiling of the building. The strength will last for up to 6 posts before continuing on as Megallium, but losing its chakra-reinforced strength.

S-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Ninjutsu • Shadow Clone Technique]
After performing the correct hand seals the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to 1/3rd the user's Chakra Pool). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own, be given complex commands, caught in genjutsu, and can even bleed, but they will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for Chakra Pool, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect. The advantage of this form of the technique is that once dispersed, the chakra distributed to the clones returns to the user, allowing any un-used chakra to be regained, slowing the draining usage of this technique. The chakra returns to the user at a different rate depending on the user's control.

After performing the correct hand seals the user pressed the palm of their hand to a surface and an object will be reinforced with ninpou, adding a layer to the object that, when struck, will eject the striking force back at the assailant with [control] strength and speed. Akito had been traveling for some time, both by carriage and by foot. His trip to Aroma Country was ostensibly a work trip, but in reality was more of a short academic sabbatical. He was on the lookout for topics to fuel his academic research, but if that process involved a beach, a few drinks, and an extended time out from under the thumb of his clan, all the better. When Akito finally arrived on the coast, he began his search for accommodation. After his first few choices proved to be booked, Akito heard a rumor about an inn that had appeared overnight. His curiosity piqued, Akito went down the coast to where he heard that the place was.

Once pointed in the right direction, Akito found the place quickly. “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow Inn” the sign read. He couldn’t help but judge the crooked sign with messy kanji scribbled onto it, but that reaction faded immediately as he entered. The smell of food and the traditional decor were both very much to his taste. One of the waitresses came up to greet him, and Akito inquired about a room. She passed him off to another woman who was apparently in charge of that. She looked eerily similar to the first woman.

Wait, no, not similar: identical. Down to her pregnant belly. Shadow clones. That and a structure like this appearing overnight points to a kunoichi. I do have to wonder if nine shadow clones could deliver a child in one month…

Akito paused to scribble that thought down in a notebook before paying for his room and heading upstairs. There, Akito dumped his duffel bag and quickly activated his Byakugan.

Hmm, a fuuin on the wall. And residual chakra all over, emanating from every surface. What a curious establishment. I will have to inquire about it later. Other than that, the room seems harmless.

After a quick shower to wash away the dust of travel, Akito donned a fine yukata with a wave pattern in deep indigo and pure white and a pair of wooden geta. He usually wore his long, black hair up, either in a ponytail or topknot, but decided that if he was going to relax he may as well leave it down. Better attired for the warm weather, he dug a book up from his bag and descended back to the common area. Once there, he ordered a small carafe of sake and a plate of tempura, took a seat at one of the tables, opened his book, and waited for his food to come out.

When it did, Akito put down his book for a moment and looked up at the Shadow Clone waitress.

"Thank you, ma'am," Akito said. As she prepared to walk away and attend to another customer, Akito raised a hand. "Before you go, I do have to ask: what is this place?"

Enter Hanako.

It was a strange thing for enemies and rivals to gather in a foreign country for festivities, but it was not the first time this had happened. The first time, Hanako had gone independently without village affiliation. She had no enemies, and had been overlooked by those of the other nations. The last time she had gone to such a festival she had gone with the Raikage back to Kumogakure. He had been adamant about that. The war must have been weighing heavily on his mind because in Hanako’s opinion the Raikage had changed his behavior. So here she was once again, not independent but a representative of Kumogakure. Her relationship with her own home country was far more complicated than most people realized. Her being trained as a shinobi in the first place was the result of a spy operation, so she had learned. Seeing so many foreign shinobi made her think about these things.

She was well on her way to developing a womanly figure with her hips having widened thanks to the effects of growing up. The effects of her malnourishment from before she met Chiaki would leave a permanent mark on her development. She would never be a full chested woman. She would forever be short at a simple five feet tall. Yet her muscle tone would fill out what she lacked. Her body was toned and her muscles coiled like springs with explosive power. Yet, the muscle definition did not look unsightly. She wasn’t bulky. She didn’t move like a human, she moved like some kind of creature. A cat perhaps. Hanako was a young woman.

Her dark hair was in a fluffy bob, she was wearing a dark one piece swimsuit with long sleeves and a colorful Sarong skirt on her waist that went down to her knees. Kumogakure no Sato’s presence here aside, she was present to enjoy her time on the beach. She didn’t care in the least about the task that she was here for, which was all about networking. She wondered a long rather aimlessly across the beach until the reflection on the roof of the building caught her attention. It was such a curious artifact that she decided to investigate. As she approached, she thought her mind may be playing tricks on her. The quality of the material. Was it silver? It certainly wasn’t iron or steel. Could it have been.. Megallium? Hanako was deeply familiar with the material as it had once been a style of technique that had belonged exclusively to her beloved mentor, Chiaki. As Hanako approached the building she scratched some of the paint so she could more covertly look at the material beneath and examine its qualities.

The texture was the same as the jutsu that Chiaki had used in the past. Free from the deformities of heat - only molded cleanly through chakra. But. Wasn’t Chiaki supposed to be dead? How did someone else learn her technique? Had she taught someone else? Hanako knew Chiaki had mentored many people and was always generous with sharing, but it still made her feel just a bit jealous even though she had no right to be. She was the one that hadn’t put in the effort to learn the Megallium style. It was offered to her on more than one occasion.

Hanako moved towards the entrance of the Inn and saw the saw and paused again. The - the name of this place! It was the same as the one at the Iron Banner Festival, or just about. The one Chiaki had been running. A strange feeling filled Hanako’s chest. Was…Chiaki alive? Was her death faked? If it was, she would be hiding her identity, and she was skilled with medicine and chakra, so Hanako had no doubt that her meager sensory skills would not be able to discern the truth. There were only two options, either this was another of Chiaki’s students or it was Chiaki herself.

Hanako had followed Akito. She wasn’t really interested in Akito, because she didn’t even know his name, but he had arrived slightly before her. She was anxious though. Her eyes were scanning the entryway and the dining room that was set up. It was truly a whimsical sight to observe. The same woman was doing everything in this place. She was shorter than Chiaki with dark skin that was marked by scars, the price of a lifetime of being a kunoichi. Hair that was bright orange like lava flowing down a mountain. Beautiful. The Megallium. The Butterflies. As Hanako watched even more closely at the small movements that this woman made, occasionally she would be reminded of habits of Chiakis. The evidence was there, how could someone be so similar just be another person Chiaki had trained? It was Chiaki. Hanako didn’t say anything, but she had to wipe the tears from her eyes. She knew that she was probably the only person that would have been able to figure this out, due to her close proximity to the woman. With just a glance acknowledging the swell pregnancy Hanako decided that she didn’t want to ruin what Chiaki had built for herself, no matter how much it pained her. Hanako would play the fool. This would be their first meeting.

”My name is Hanako from Hanamura. I saw on your sign that you were hiring temps. ”

Under orders of their emperor- and in the most complicated fashion her father, Mariya had been sent to this Aroma event as one of the Kumogakure delegacy. They were ordered to meet, learn, greet, and network. To gather intel- not the sort of a cold war, but rather the kind used to form friendships and build mutual respect. Lord Ninth had been especially obsessive about some "dream world" where there would be no war because everyone would be so economically in bed with each other there'd be no room for war or no need for it.

Sounded rather unachievable, but who was she to question orders. As her eyes wandered the beach her sharingan noticed the traces of a familiar chakra- one of her newer allies and few friends she had made within the village.

Making her way down the beach in a bikini and a karuyushi shirt worn open, but tied loosely in a cute manner at the bottom into a not, she noticed Hanako making her way towards a magnificent looking building. It shimmered among the sand the sun and the water and gorgeous scents bombarded Mariya's nose and drew her in more than the site of a familiar comrade. Making her way towards the building, but with a slight hesitation, she entered moments after Hanako and would bee-line for a seat at the bar. Her raven black hair was tied back in a bun, showing her feline face, sun-kissed skin and smattering of freckles above her nose bridge.

As she looked upon the marvelous inn, she noticed first that it was staffed by clones. Something was... oddly familiar about them, the way the chakra shimmered and glowed. The butterflies around the inn. Even the silvery substance that seemed to invade the scenery of Aroma. For a moment, Mariya wondered if... if the reports had been false. If... one of her first allies was... and if it was what would she do?

As she examined the food of nearby denizens and the traces of chakra around it she was filled with an appetite- no a lust for knowledge that would answer her many questions. An appetite far outweighing even the growling tummy she did possess. But, she landed on the conclusion it was better to not know. Especially if Hanako would be thrown into the mix of anything. Once she was seated, she would awkwardly ask for the chefs recommendation, her heart fluttering all the while.

If Hanako noticed her she'd wave to the other girl.

Even if it was her- what should I say? I never got to say goodbye. Well, did she even care about me? What if? If Dad finds out wha- her mind was moving a mile a minute, and for the first time in a long time, processing thoughts that sounded more like a normal teenage girl rather than a weapon, cloned and bred for black ops.

A pop up shop looking for volunteers? That wasn’t a rarity, but the way this place sung of chakra was another thing, but this entire location was something that was filled with chakra, ninja intermingling everywhere. He could offer his services, maybe earn a bit of money, speak to some people and learn a little.

He chuckled to himself, there was Akito, the man was intelligent, but then again he had yet to meet a stupid Hyuuga. There was an interest, and so Raizou walked towards the Jounin, placing an arm on the man’s shoulder. ”Sure is interesting huh?” A part of him wondered just how much he would gain from training his sensory skills in a place this dense with chakra?

It would be a lot, and he knew as much; getting even a millimeter more of range could be the difference between survival, so he channeled his chakra on that focus; expanding his range, and maybe…He could look at a different way to do it.

He felt at his pool, and felt his sense expand; it wasn’t huge, but he could tell the little pinpricks apart, at least until it hit the walls; it just felt like a giant wall of chakra to him now. What was this place made of?

Akito had asked the question, but it did still sit in his head, so Raizou followed it with his own query. ”You guys still hiring?” He said with a half smile, maybe he might be able to drag the Jounin into it with him?

It was early in the morning when Roku came up on the make shift establishment composed of a mystical metal. He had parked his horse, a beautiful white steed named Silver, at a hitch and was walking by foot along the beach. He had been traveling for weeks by horse and it felt good to get some sand inbetween his armored toes. It had been a long, harrowing journey for Roku. On his way to Aroma Country for the peaceful event he came up on a small drug smuggling operation in a little village. Roku was not one to let drugs be delivered anywhere near him, in fact he was a particularly upright man in the way of the law, and he set forth his efforts to stop the gang that was smuggling drugs into the village. After a few days of sabotage, Roku succeeded in ridding the village of the gang and their drugs, and he headed back on the road to find Aroma Country. It would still take him time, but he had company to talk with.

Floating behind Roku's back, as if it were strapped by leather, Roku carried a bamboo fishing pole. It was relatively unassuming. The pole had 30 meters of steel wire line coiled up around it, and a large fishing hook strapped to the end. The fishing pole glowed faintly, as if it were an enchanted item. Roku was, after all, a samurai of the Heart Empire and it wasn't uncommon for samurai to carry items mystified by jutsu. This item was no regular item to say the least, in fact it was so far beyond normal that Roku had owned it for years and still had never told a soul about the mysterious nature of Hideoyoshi, the Warrior of Fortune.

The bamboo fishing pole was actually the manifestation of one of the Heart Empire's Warrior Spirit'. Hideoyoshi was once a bandit with incredible luck and through this great fortune he was given a second chance at life. By mere chance Roku found Hideoyoshi and the spirit served him well. While the two certainly didn't get along, they had common interests that brought them together. Both Roku and Hideoyoshi swore their allegiance to the Shogun of Heart, and both Hideoyoshi and Roku were interested in the Serendipity Field.

The Serendipity Field was a mysterious force of nature that had spiritual origins, and it's existence was directly correlated to the luck of something, or someone. Since discovering Hideoyoshi and learning that he could alter his own luck, Roku was living in a seventh heaven. The fisherman loved catching big fish, but Hideoyoshi had darker intentions for Roku's influence with the Serendipity Field. Hideoyoshi sought Roku to lead a life of fame for the Empire, and fight in war against Heart's enemies, using Yoshijutsu, the control of luck. The two didn't agree on things to say the least. Roku wanted to live a life of peace.

Living a life of peace was in the cards for Roku, as he walked into the megallium building and reserved a room. Roku was fairly wealthy as a fisherman of rare catches he often cashed in on small fortunes. He bought the most elaborate hotel suite, an enjoyer of the fine things in life and truthfully Roku mostly spent his time camping outside. He wanted to live well while he was in Aroma Country.

After he checked out his room, Roku jumped in the shower and washed off his scales. They had begun to give off a fishy odor and that was embarrassing for the samurai. Roku liked to smell good, and look good. He was married, but that didn't stop him from being eye candy. The Shuryo was devilishly handsome for a shark skinned man and he wanted to smell the part. After using special soap for washing one's scales, Roku washed his white hair and then got out of the shower and dried off his body with a hotel towel. He had to pay himself dry, the towel stood no chance against his abrasive scales. Once he was all dry Roku got dressed. He wore his usual light blue linen robe, open at the chest and exposing his sharp skin. He had dark blue shorts on that were notably baggy, and his usual red sandals.

Roku meandered through the hotel and found his way to the dining hall. He sat down hoping for something delicious. It wouldn't take long for a waitress to find him. Roku had noticed at this point that the staff of the establishment were all clones of each other. He had suspected someone gifted with ninjutsu had erected this place, the craftsmanship had a distinct uniformness that hand craftsman couldn't hold a candle to. Roku presumed it to be a ninja from one of the great villages. Marksmanship like this was honed in a place of many souls. He didn't pay it much mind however. Roku was all about the peace. He talked with the clone candidly about his wife back home, and even showed Kanade's clone a picture of his Shuryo wife, Minami. Roku didn't mention her pregnancy, he was a gentleman and didn't dare bring up a woman's form to her. Roku was having a nice time and he didn't dare jeapordize that.

For his meal Roku had live crabs. He used his claws and sharp teeth to tear into the crustaceans and eat them alive. Roku first ate the legs, then the head. He didn't fuck with the guts. Once he was full Roku left a generous tip and proceeded to leave the dining hall. He quite enjoyed himself. As he walked out he said goodbye to the hostess, and as he walked away he saw a sign posted. The sign was requesting temporary help at the pop-up establishment. Roku wasn't interested in helping, he was there to enjoy himself, after all. He was however interested in finding out who would be working at the Here Today. Gone Tomorrow Inn. Roku was an opportunistic creature and he wanted to get any leg up on the event that he could. By knowing who would work at the inn, Roku expected he would have a great time.

As he stood there thinking about his plot to joymaxx the Aroma Country event, Roku heard a curious conversation unfolding around him. He stood for a moment and listened.

As Nozomi was looking around after her adventures in the wave pool with the Raikage it was beginning to get dark, plus she was getting tired and low on chakra after all of those events. Though at least she got something useful done and had an interesting experience. Question was what should she do now? It was getting late and even she needed to rest. She was also seeing a lot less people out around now. Though some people were still staying around plus the night clubs were starting to open now. Though as curious as she was about the inner workings of a night club the bouncer wouldn’t let her in because he said she was too young. Which was quite odd she thought considering the drinking age here was fourteen, I mean technically she was still only seven but no one else besides her family knew that.

So as she was looking around for a place to sleep or another nightclub was then that she saw the strange inn that reminded her of one of her favorite old sensei’s maybe even her number one favorite sensei. She would then enter the inn drawn by curiosity, she was tempted to use the new jutsu she was training to see if she could determine if this was the same element her sensei used. But then remembered that it wouldn’t work like that, she then wondered if she should make a new version for jutsu effects that have already been cast. But as she was contemplating that she figured it would be rude, plus her sensei and dad may not like it.

If she had a reason for faking her death and both of them never sharing that info with her. She was sure they had a reason, after that she would carefully look at the inn and its features, before she would then finally after a bit of reminiscing and investigation. She would enter the inn and see Kanade with Hanako next to her. She wanted to ask her, immediately about her suspicions but she saw Hanako was there along with others so figured it was a bad idea.

For now she would wait and would check in to the inn saying to Kanade “I’m Karagata Nozomi I’m here to get a room. “ once she was checked in she would go over to Hanako and say “hello Hanako how are you? I haven’t seen you in awhile not since iron banner festival when Chiaki sensei was still alive, how are you?”

phpBB [video] Suzuko slumped along a beachside bash, feeling cold, and for once she didn't feel the strings of others emotions reaching out to her, begging to be felt and heard. There was an emptiness to it, especially in such a crowded area as the festival, and none of this felt right. Why was she here? Who was she, here? None of this felt right, and so she did what so many people do when they felt empty, she went to go get food.

Her nose pulled her, and while there were dozens of stands offering snack foods, more than anything she needed a real meal to fill her stomach and, hopefully, her Heart. It only got worse as she got closer and closer to where her nose led her, and while no tears entered her eyes, she wanted to cry, her emotions dulled brightened in pulses that felt increasingly painful, so much worse than anything she'd felt before, and she had no outlet for it all. And then she saw it.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow. The gloomy and sullen Suzuko silently thought that maybe that was her, and took it as the sign that this was her restaurant to be. It appeared to be an inn as well, but she didn't need a room, that was all taken care of in advance. In the classic style of small minded teenagers, she didn't take notice of any others present as she walked in, finding a seat in a corner, preferably with a window she could gaze out longingly, while waiting for someone to offer her a menu, or take her order, or whatever it is people did at popup restaurants.

"It's so sad!" the reader said to the writer with a frown. "The character in my book just died!" The author turned to her and burst out into tears, "I know!" he said, "So did mine!"

As Akito asked his question of the waitress, someone put his hand on his shoulder. Akito turned around and saw a familiar face. It was Raizou. Like Akito, he was a Konoha nin. Even more like Akito, he was affiliated with the University. He was not a professor though. Come to think of it, Akito wasn’t quite sure what exactly he did there: a fellow or an assistant or something of that nature.

“Hmm? Oh, good day Raizou. It seems you have come to enjoy the festivities as well. Please, have a seat.” Akito gestured to one of the empty seats nearby. “A very interesting establishment to be sure.”

“Please ignore that last question,” Akito said to Kanade’s shadow clone with a smile. “It was an odd thing to ask. Could you bring another sake cup?”

He looked around. The place had filled up since Akito had been reading. This odd inn seemed like it was going to be a veritable who’s who of the ninja world. This was part of why he was here after all, to foster relations with the other lands.

“Actually, how about a few more cups? And maybe some more sake as well?”

Akito surveyed the room more closely. A couple of young women were catching up near the entrance. They seemed to know the proprietress. Two tables over, a man with the appearance of a shark and a fishing pole slung across his back was finishing his meal of what appeared to be live crabs. At least, they were live crabs when the meal started. Akito turned back to Raizou.

“Looking for some work? Is your university stipend not quite-” Akito started asking with a smirk. He was interrupted by movement in his periphery. The shark man had stood up and was staring at the two Akito turned back to him.

“Sir,” he called out. “Can I help you? You are welcome to join if you would like. We will have more cups in a moment.”

As he extended an olive branch to Roku, another movement distracted Akito. A familiar young woman came in and sat herself in a corner. Akito leaned to his left to get a better view around Roku.

“Suzuko?”

Kande’s first clone smiled at Akito as he ordered the tempura and some sake. She had made tempura back in Iwagakure, but it mostly consisted of non-sea fish. Here she was able to use the salty sea fish and had found the recipe to be all the tastier for it. Shinjiro had taken her to Kirigakure no Sato and she had been hooked on fresh seafood from the actual sea afterward. The landlocked sweetwater fish just couldn’t compare to the salty sea-bound fish. She walked up to the real Kanade, who was manning the ovens and grill in the center of the first floor, which was exclusively the dining room, sitting room, lounge, bar, and served as a teppanyaki and open invitation to watch as she made everyone’s food.

“One plate of Tempura please.” Clone one asked and smiled, “I’ve got his sake, did you-?” She asked and the real Kanade waved the question away, “Yes, yes, it’s all done. You can take that to him and he will be happy with it.” She glanced over her shoulder at the customer and shrugged. Since he didn’t ask for a specific type she would make it out of the fish of the day, sanma and shishamo, along with Amberjack with the tail on, satsumaimo, renkon, eringi, and eggplant, all assorted on a plate with tentsuyu in the middle. She made sure to get the ratio just right on the eggs and cold water so that the dish was extra crispy and topped it all off with a sprinkling of salt and a secret blend of spices. It didn’t take long to make the dish and the clone came hurrying back to grab the order to take to the table.

As Akito asked his question and was about to answer as another rolled in and clapped him on the shoulder. These two obviously knew one another and she nodded as she brought some more sake for the two of them. She brought back the warmed tokkuri and another couple of cups for the people that were sitting at the table, carefully eyeing them to make sure that they were above the drinking age back home. Aroma country laws be damned, she wasn’t serving alcohol to minors. Kanade nodded as Akito started to get someone else’s attention and talk with them, “Yes we are hiring.” She said to Raizou, glad to have an excuse to not answer truthfully about what her restaurant / inn was made out of. “We are currently looking for housekeepers, waiters, and apprentice chefs.” Kanade’s first clone shrugged and smiled, “If you would like to work here you can let me know, but I’ll leave you all to your mingling for now.” She popped off to go and bus one of the other tables.

-----
Kanade’s second clone was busy with showing Roku to his rooms, making sure that everything was tidy and then grabbing him his food, which consisted of live crabs. Not dead, not recently dead, not chilled, not cooked. Live crabs. The only thing that she could think of to bring them in was the aquarium that they were already in, which was about 10 gallons. She sloshed it over to him and set the aquarium down on the table next to the man. She noticed his scales, was going to say something, but then remembered Shinjiro and all of the weird things he had turned into. She snapped her mouth shut and wished him welcome. “Let me know if you require anything else please.” the Second clone said before scurrying off to help the original Kanade at making more dishes for the influx of customers.

---

Kanade’s third clone smiled at Hanako and bowed her head, “Welcome to the “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow Popup Restaurant and Inn.” Are you looking for a more clerical job, or what kind of work are you looking for? Currently we have openings in housekeeping,or as an apprentice chef, or waitress. Though we might need help in other places that we just don’t know about yet.” Because the clones weren’t using any chakra, they were going to be around indefinitely. And if anyone assaulted them, there would be no harm in it.

She, of course, recognized Hanako from the moment that she walked in. Kanade at the the grill had stopped, frozen, and just stared for a good long minute at Hanako. She shook her head and put her back to Hananko, wiping tears away from her face as she cleared her throat and washed her hands. The wound was still raw from when she had to give Hanako back to Kumogakure. It was one of, if not the hardest thing that she had ever done in her life. Of course she would offer her a job, which the real Kanade had overheard. She just needed to tell her what position she wanted.

She felt equal waves of pride and guilt as Hanako showed up, and Miraiya right behind her. It seemed that all of the ghosts of her past, ones that made her feel heavy with regret were going to show up today. The real Kanade moved, and performed more hand seals over more of the Sake and some of the food, pouring her chakra into each dish, trying to ignore the feeling she couldn’t avoid of loss at the sight of Hanako. Of course she felt guilty about Miraiya as well, but Miraiya was more a part of the village than Chiaki or Hanako had ever been. Chiaki had not even made it past Chuunin for Kami’s sake. She expected that Miraiya was at least a Jounin like her, if not even more capable than she was in battle now. The quick calculations in her missions with the young sharingan wielder made her a fierce leader, and an excellent strategist.

Kanade touched the amulet she was wearing and wondered whether the jutsu on it would mask that she wasn’t who she appeared to be, would mask the animus tucked behind her now beating heart.

Nozomi walked in and Kanade bowed to her as well, "Welcome, we do have rooms for the night yes, will you be staying for the entirety of the festival?" the pang of loss hit ever deeper as more people she recognized from her past life rolled into the inn. This was the price of opening such a venue though. She was at least glad to see they were all well, and growing up to be fine kunoichi and shinobi. She wondered whether or not she would be a part of their lives ever again. At least, for this festival, she could be.

--

As Suzuko walked in, Kanade’s third clone followed her to a seat in the corner, so there wasn’t much time to sit and gaze out longingly. However, the angle probably didn’t help as Kanade walked up and greeted her, handing her a menu and explaining that there were things that she could order which were off of the menu, as long as she could give an explanation as to what the dish was. Kanade in the middle who was furiously making dishes and weaving seals, putting love into every dish, had a cook book that she could go off of for the off-hand or odd orders that she couldn’t make from memory. The menu read as thus:

Kanade’s clone smiled, “You look at the menu for a bit, and I’ll come back yeah?” She asked. Suzuko was sitting alone when suddenly someone shouted her name. As Roku was eavesdropping on a conversation that he simply did not understand, he was approached by a foreign looking ninja. The man was sitting at a table and enjoying drinks with several other people. Roku was a usually friendly man and he was excited to get to know travelers to Aroma.

The Blue Tailed Beast knew that most of those who were in Aroma Country were looking for solace from combat. The laws were very strict, and they were enforced by fearsome samurai from the hosting nation. There was to be no fighting. Training was accepted, perhaps even encouraged. That did not give anyone the right to use deadly force however. Roku was happy with these terms, himself a battle scarred warrior from Heart, and knowing how he felt, it was only natural to assume that others felt the same way. Presuming people felt like he did, it was safe to assume that Roku's company at the Aroma Country Event was going to be predominantly ninja.

Smiling a toothy grin full of large shark teeth, Roku nodded to Akito. "I appreciate it!" Roku pulled out a chair. He was a large man, but the chair was just big enough to accommodate him. Sitting at the table , Roku had his chair pulled out and his legs were crossed. The sharp blue scales of Roku's armor glistened in the light. His legs were mostly exposed at it was clear to see that he had an incredibly fit body, his legs were packed with dense musculature, just ever so differently formed than a regular humans. The Shuryo gripped a sake mug. Typically Roku didn't drink so early in the day, but it was a celebration after all. He held the cup in his hand and took a sip. It was bitter but there was an ever so familiar sweetness in the burn and Roku was able to savor the drink.

"My name is Roku. I come from Heart. I'm a traveling samurai. I patrol the providences of my nation, protecting the people from crime and other sorts of evil." Roku took another sip of sake. "Really, I'm a hero of the nation." He looked up from his cup at into Akito's eyes. Rokuu had a mischievous sort of grin plastered to his face. He was getting a kick out of blowing up his achievements. "Really though, I am but a fisherman. Just a fisherman, fish man, guy fisherman, man." Roku chuckled.

Before Roku could ask Akito about himself, Roku was particularly curious of the Hyuuga, the Blue Tailed Beast looked over to where Akito had addressed someone. It was a young girl, and one that Roku most certainly recognized. Standing in the pop up establishment was none other than Suzuko herself. Roku had trained her once upon a time and had grown quite fond of her adamant attitude. She was a strong young girl, and an excellent samurai in the making. The fisherman wondered how her training had gone since he last saw her. Roku waved to her with a wide arcing hand shake. "Suzuko! Aye lasts!" Roku was grinning from ear to ear. He loved meeting new people, but even better than that was reconnecting with old friends.

Interestingly, Suzuko would notice that Roku did not have his fishing pole with him. Usually the weapon floated at his backside, glowing mysteriously with a golden chakra color. Today, however, Roku had dematerialized Hideoyoshi.

Part of the nature of the Warrior Spirit was that Hideoyoshi was composed of spiritual matter. As Hideoyoshi's host Roku could form the fishing pole at any time. He simply liked to have his fishing pole beside him as ease of access, and that was why people usually saw Hideoyoshi with Roku. As well as being able to materialize the fishing pole, Roku could also alter the shape of the fishing pole to suit other forms. If Roku wished to wield a sword, or shield, he could. Of course it would glow golden and be a conduit to Roku's Yoshijutsu, that would never change no matter what form Hideoyoshi took on, but the actual form of Hideoyoshi was malleable. The bandits actually preferred the form of a hand axe, but Roku didn't believe in wielding such brutish weapons. He liked Hideoyoshi as a fishing pole, but that fishing pole was nowhere to be seen today.

Another International event, another crowded restaurant. Kanade was playing at a dangerous game, the signs were all laid out clear as Aroma’s pristine waters. Taking on the form of a beautiful brunette woman with deep green eyes, Shinjiro wore a turquoise two-piece bathing suit and a sky-blue sarong. How he longed for the days when he could go unnoticed in his masculine form, masked with cloak and hood. But now he was far too recognizable, and even this feminine form would draw some recollection from at least two individuals.

Sitting at a small table on the middle right side of the restaurant the legendary assassin surveyed those that had gathered. Always he was watching, keeping close tabs on both Kanade and Nozomi. Even at such events their safety was of the utmost concern. He had ordered his usual dish, the seafood scampi and new that Kanade was well acquainted with this form. “Don’t you think you’re being reckless? You could have been more subtle” the woman’s voice spoke softly, wary of those around them. Vibrant green eyes noted Hanako in particular. There had been a slight fondness toward the girl in the past, she had shown remarkable talent and it had been a shame to lose her back to Kumo. But more than that she had become a liability and had resulted in Kintsugi being forced to disband, at least temporarily. There was no telling how much information about their organization she had divulged to the Raikage. But Shinjiro certainly intended on finding out. One way or another.

Yawning loudly, a red-faced bearded man entered the fine establishment. Ichiro had been drinking all day and soaking up the sun, truly enjoying his time in Aroma country and it showed. Stumbling forward the man swayed in one direction then another as he surveyed the room for drinking companions. A bottle of sake caught his interest. “Whatta we drinkin’ fellas?” he inquired, placing a hand on the Shuryo’s shoulder as he sauntered over to their table. He recoiled as he felt the prick of the man’s scales and deftly slid into an available seat. “Ah, prickly bastard, you’d think he’s the first Shuryo I’ve seen” he said chuckling as he leaned over toward the Hyuuga and procured himself a glass. Tapping the table, he gestured for his drink to be filled. “Next round’ll be on me” he assured. The dark-haired man wore several jeweled rings and smelled of the sea, wearing sea blue harem pants and a loose-fitting white shirt with a deep v-neck, exposing curly black chest hairs. “Takeda Ichiro, by the way” he introduced. “Come, sit” he insisted of the Shuryo man, as if he had been among the Konoha pair from the start. The man’s electric blue gaze gleamed with intelligence, despite his drunken state. Over a decade of celebrations among pirates had conditioned him to keep his wits about him right up until he passed out from the drink. He wagered he had at least another 10 shots left in him. 9 after he quickly downed the one he hoped Akito would fill. “What a time to be alive!” he chuckled, leaning back against his chair as he looked about the room. They seemed to be in relatively good company, a dull group if anything but perhaps there was potential yet for a memorable evening. He could certainly use the distraction after recent events.

Raizou didn’t need to be told twice, he sat down within a moment and made himself comfortable. ”Cheers. The stipend ain’t so bad, just don’t like taking a break without working.” Ignoring the fact that it invalidated taking a break in full. The Chuunin hummed aloud, he didn’t want to drink, but he couldn’t say no after a superior had bought him some, especially one that was higher ranked than him in both the University, and the Village.

He’d drink along.

”Appreciate it, I’ll make sure to enquire after I get done with this nice chat.” He said to the waitress. Then again, this would make a great location to sneak information out of people.

It might make his training more difficult, as he focused even more, on trying to breach beyond the walls. It was a pain in the butt in the end, the focus on chakra while focusing on a conversation actively would perhaps let him reach the next level of sensory master; the moulding of his chakra, channeling it; and letting his blinks last a little longer than they should.

Still, he would stay engaged. ”You’re a popular guy, huh? Feels like you know everyone in here.” He said as he looked around, then again he didn’t mingle much with people from beyond the country, and discounted the war; this was his first time leaving fire country outside of a mission.

A pain.

”Here to relax as well?” He said as he kept his hands off the sake for now. ”Perso-”

But he was interrupted by those invited and uninvited joining them at the table, but drinks were better had in a group, the chance of him being able to casually interact and enjoy this day without drinking were shot. ”I was here first, I’ll cover the next round. We’ll go in order, ey?” He said with a chuckle.

Then he began to sip at the sake, enjoying the burn as it traveled down his throat.

”Roku Shuryo, and Takeda Ichiro, I’m Awai Raizou, and he’s…Well, I’ll let you introduce yourself, Akito.”

There were a lot of things Kureha loved... her new cousin Aiya, her caretaker Rin, her pet spider Roku... but just as much as the most important people in her life she had another great love. That was a love of food, she had an iron stomach and a large appetite to go with it... being a big eater to the point where she was at times referred to as a glutton. She wasn't totally happy about it but she couldn't really deny it either. At one point Rin had even tried to put her on a diet, Aiya had even encouraged it! Of course she had protested and quickly realizing that she wasn't going to cooperate and being unwilling to force her the two had backed down before the plan could even be put into motion.

Anywho, she was excited about this vacation to Aroma for the opportunity to meet with new people and maybe make some friends but she was even more excited at the opportunity to try out some new foods.

On this particular day she had spent the day playing on the beach with Rin, though the woman had wandered off somewhere not too long ago... She had mentioned something about hunting down some good sake and a good strong man, all with a hungry look in her eyes. Kureha wasn't totally sure what she had meant but did know that whatever that was about, it certainly hadn't been about food.

She meanwhile had noticed a group of people heading over towards a nearby restaurant, delicious smells wafting out not long after. Paying heed to her suddenly grumbling stomach she followed the trail across the beach and into the building.

"This place is pretty swanky." she muttered to herself, taking a look around as she was led to a table. It appeared to be both a restaurant and inn though she was here only for the former, at least for now.

Once seated and given a menu she didn't take long to order, ordering a set of sushi rolls, a Gyuudon and an iced tea, and finally a Mochi and Dorayaki. It wasn't much for her but it would be improper for her to just totally go all out at a restaurant.

With that done she took another look around at her surroundings, taking in all the sights and sounds. In all honesty she loved restaurants not just for the food but for this kind of atmosphere, people coming together to relax and chat with others. And if the food was good, well that was just the cherry on top.

”Cheers. The stipend ain’t so bad, just don’t like taking a break without working.”

“Suit yourself,” Akito said with a grin, taking a sip of his sake. The waitress came around with some more cups. Akito poured one for Raizou and another for Roku.

“Nice to meet you Roku from Heart, hero and fisherman.” Akito smiled quizzically at the man as he handed him a filled cup of sake. “My name is Hyuuga Akito. You could probably guess that already, but I hail from Konoha.”

Raizou was saying something, but as Akito turned to listen, a loud, bearded, clearly already-drunk man interrupted him. After scraping himself on Roku, the newcomer sat down at the table and tapped it to indicate he wanted a drink. Akito narrowed his eyes at the man. He had bought the sake to attract new people and share with them, after all. Nothing about Ichiro’s demeanor was outwardly unfriendly. To the contrary, it was very friendly, almost too much so. Between that, his informality with strangers, and the way he acted as if he had been here from the beginning immediately rubbed Akito the wrong way. Raizou introduced himself and Roku to Ichiro, and prompted Akito to do the same.

“Takeda Ichirou. Charmed, I’m sure. My name is Hyuuga Akito. From Konoha.” Akito scanned the man, leaning to his left to get a better look at a piece of cloth around Ichirou’s shoulder. It almost looked like a forehead protector.

“Waterfall country, if I am not mistaken. Interesting.” With a sigh, Akito picked up the carafe and poured a cup for Ichirou.

Someone was waving to her. Hanako turned from the Kanade she was speaking to and focused on who had grabbed her attention from her peripheral vision - It was… Hanako wasn’t sure who. Hanako remembered Mariya, but she couldn’t make out the girl's face. Hanako’s Face Blindness was not actually a new condition. Just one that she had been living with for so long that she had never bothered to talk to anyone about it. In the here and now, Hanako gave a weak wave as she wasn’t sure exactly who she was waving to. They didn’t even speak so Hanako couldn’t judge them by their voice either. Soon, Nozomi also arrived, while Hanako was equally blind to Nozomi’s face, she did remember her voice. ”Hello Nozomi.” Hanako answered frankly. She had not forgotten that spar and recalled how the girl was made of poison and poisonous gas. She still didn’t believe it was possible to win in a fight against her, but luckily Kumogakure no Sato was not an enemy of the Kirigakure shinobi - at least as far as Hanako was aware.

”I’ve been trying to figure out my own way.” Hanako began to explain after being prompted by Nozomi. ”Everyone really wants something from me and I don’t really know what to do. I miss Chiaki a lot, and I miss my Granny also even though Granny was not my real Granny and was just manipulating me with genjutsu so she could sneak into Kumogakure. That whole thing is still a mystery largely that I have been working on uncovering. Its so much harder now that I have to decide what to do on my own.” Hanako continued. She leaned against the counter as she waited for one of the clones to get back to her. ”It’s forced me to grow up a lot, but I don’t like it and miss when things were easier and I didn’t have to think about the future. Now I can’t help but get frustrated because everyone wants something from me or for me and I don’t know what I want for myself.” Hanako spewed out a word salad - but this was in typical Hanako fashion who had ever spoken aloud the thoughts that were going on in her head.

The third clone of Kanade smiled and bowed her head to Hanako and offered her a variety of jobs. Hanako considered each position. ”The clerical job sounds boring and I don’t want to do that. Housekeeping sounds gross. I don’t like germs and cleaning means dealing with germs so I don’t want to touch them. Apprentice Chef sounds like a good job, I can help with that maybe. Waitress means you have to talk to people and I’m not good with talking to people, so not that job either. In the end I can only be an apprentice chef.” Hanako explained her logic aloud to the third clone of Kanade, as she decided that she would try her hands at cooking instead.

Hanako turned back to Nozomi. It was nice to see you again Nozomi. I’m glad you are doing well and haven’t died. Hanako didn’t feel like she knew Nozomi particularly well, and she certainly didn’t consider her a friend but there was a connection that both had been mentored by Chiaki. Hanako’s eyes by chance looked at Shinjiro disguised as a woman. Perhaps it was a disguise that she was familiar with but she didn’t recognize his face, even if it was one that he had used before. Her gaze was drawn there by the Kanade clone interacting with him, or with her rather. She turned to the Kanade clone here again and waited for her to provide any instructions that would be necessary for an apprentice chef. The place seemed like it was already starting to fill out really quickly.

It was just like the one in the Iron Banner Festival.

Nozomi would continue to look around the place as she was very suspicious the presence of the material nearly identical looking to megalium and the butterfly’s made her think at the very least this person had some connection to Chiaki sensei but had no way of knowing. It also seemed her dad had recently entered and was talking to the woman in question. She was really curious what the connection between them was but was curious if she could find out. She assumed if she watched Kannade long enough she would give some sort of clue that she was Chiaki or somehow connected to her.

Meanwhile she would carefully listen to what Hanako says, then reply “of course, everyone wants something from someone body that is just how the world works and means your a important person it’s usually when no one wants anything from you that it becomes a problem.” She then paused for a second and would make sure to say loud enough that kanade could hear while watching her reaction out of the corner of her eye. “I miss Chiaki sensei too she was possibly my favorite sensei so far.”

Before returning to a normal voice and saying “while i normally wouldn’t mind helping you with that stuff and even though Kumogakure isn’t a enemy yet they are Allie’s with enemies which would make helping you tricky and could cause more problems for you then they solve. Best I can do is listen, if you need to get stuff off your chest. I also learned recently that I’m not exactly the best at social situations or helping figure out non violent solutions to problems so my advice wouldn’t help much.

When Hanako made the final comment after the conversation she would say “it was nice to see you too Hanako and I as well am happy you haven’t died yet.”

"Train, Fun, Train, Fun, Train, Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun"

Each word alternated as the boy was running. Left foot, he would say Train, right foot, he would say fun. It kept him in rhythm but probably forced the child to go clinically insane and sick of training. The boy's initial goal was to train and have fun every day. How could he resist? When would he ever get borderline a vacation in a beautiful beach country like Aroma Country. All of the fun had even started to put subliminal messages to Aki to move here permanently. However... the life of a shinobi wasn't one that a ninja could simply remove themselves from. Although there were plenty of temptations.

With massive amounts of Vitamin D penetrating Aki's skin, it would also shine a little bit in reflection. A tad bit more than the average person. However, at this point, it probably would be brushed off as sweat. He had been doing this every day and at this point, the pink haired child had a pretty fun route. Sometimes he would stop at shops, find other people he recognized, or even just take a detour into the beach!

However today, of all days, something was different on his route. What was that enticing smell. The Aroma in Aroma was different than he had experienced in Aroma so far. Akihiko's jog turned into a fast walk, which quickly shifted to a moderate walk. To the child's surprise a popup shop was surprisingly in his path. Maybe it was surprising because it was a pop up? Meh, too much thought for Aki to process at the moment.

By the time the boy got near the cart, he couldn't help but notice everyone at the shop. What a popular spot, it had to be good! Oh wow, so many people Aki knew were here! Looked like Akito, who he ran into the other day was there. Suzuko, Hanako, Shinjiro, Mariya, Roku, but who were these other people? Maybe this would be a good opportunity to meet some new friends! The child was always excited to meet new people. Nothing was better than being his natural self. Especially since he has been taking on more dangerous missions, which required him to really reel it in. When on missions, since becoming a chuunin, Aki had found himself being a version of himself. Sure he was still a little goofy and tried to be funny, but nowhere near as annoying when he is off the clock.

Unfortunately, business came first for Aki, he ignored everyone and walked up to the shop and politely wait his turn if he had to. When it was his turn to order the child made quite the request. "Hello and good morning, or afternoon, I kind of forget what time it is. The smell was expisit and I would love 20 red bean dango's please." Of course the child meant to say exquisite, but he wasn't the brightest bulb in the shed. After ordering the boy smiled with great confidence, "Also, if you have to call out my name, it is Akihiko the Great."

Akihiko would turn around and fold his arms while staring at the food stand. He didn't know how long it would take before his food was ready, but the pink haired chuunin had decided to wait until he got his food. With a slight look, he could see all sorts of people, different walks of life, that were around. Oh man Roku stood out like a sore thumb, what an idiot. Aki continued to look, hmmm who should he bug first? Who would be his first victim.

The beauty of this trip was that they were once and for all allowed to walk around outside of the orphanage, so that meant that the second he had been released and hung out a bit with his friend Ziv, Yume was out and about. Aroma country was definitely different from Crescent Coalition, in fact, it was very different from the rest of the countries he had been forced to live in, Impressive, I like the style of the place. The young boy mused to himself as he continued to take in the scenery, his twin Yami was still in his 2 dimensions, enjoying the fact that he didn't have to feel any temperature changes, but for now, Yume was content.

The ice cream he was licking was flavourful, it used local fruits which weren't accessible back in the Coalition, the surgery flavor kicked his buds rear as he got a euphoric shiver that ran down his spine. Grapes, mangos, and... Blackberries? Yume wasn't sure about the last part but it tasted well enough that he didn't complain, heck, if he could he would order some home to the orphanage. "What do you think Yami, do you think it would be a good business? Set up trade between Aroma and the Coalition so that we in the orphanage can get some ice cream?" The boy chuckled, how absurd, the orphanage had taught him all about economics, magic, seals, heck even how to prepare meals.

Hozok wasn't far behind Yume as he had been ordered to keep an eye out on the boy, as he seemed to have a knack for getting in trouble, hell, he had already saved his rear once before and that was around the orphanage. If Hozok had gotten his way then Yume wouldn't have been allowed out of the grounds until next year, Let's be honest, Rei, Kazuma, and Ziv aren't innocent either, they should be under strict supervision... Damn rascals. What hurt the most was that Yume and Ziv were Hozok's students, so him having two renegade students didn't bode well for him.

The former Kiri missing ninja highly doubted that anyone was eying for him here, especially since had basically been inactive for the past 15 years and he barely looked the same as he now sported a long set of rasta, his usual afro and fade was something he faked during classes as it was easier to swiftly move around without the heavy hair, but whenever he was outside of the orphanage he let his real hair reveal itself so that he appeared very different from his past self. Hozok stopped as he spotted Yume look over at a restaurant that released the most wonderful scents.

Yume looked over at Yami who seemed to be rather excited even though he wasn't sure if his twin could even smell anything, for all he knew Yami couldn't feel anything and just reacted to things by the way of reversing everything Yume did, It sure feels like that though. The dreamer shrugged and began walking towards where the scent was coming from. Hozok on the other hand got a bit sweaty by the appearance of a large crowd, for he feared that perhaps Yume would draw too much attention to himself or cause some sort of trouble.

Kanade smirked at Shinjiro, the real Kanade did as her hands continued on her current task, making his Seafood scampi, "I think that setting up this ‘kouton’ establishment for an Iwagakure no Sato ninja is well within the bounds of what is plausible. The butterflies are more a protection for me and I would rather have them closer than further away.” She explained to him, “You’re looking particularly cute in that getup. It’s a shame that the only times I have seen you like this, somebody dies. So who’s the lucky target this time?” She asked, trying to make small talk, “And how are you going to get away with it with all of these samurai playing security here?” She stirred the scampi, bringing the heat on the stove up to the highest setting. She kept her eyes on the scampi, and cleared her throat, “You do know, to be honest, that home is just a literal footstep away.” She put the wooden spoon down and showed him a silver crafted butterfly, there was an identical one back home, right down to the nicks on its surface. It was an anchor, and if she had to escape, she had set up a way to do it this time. She had other anchors all over where she had previously visited, mostly in Iwagakure, but some places in Kirigakure as well. “They would be hard pressed to follow me if I really wanted to run.” She reassured the man in woman’s guise.

“A seafood scampi, just how you like it.” She remembered the last time that he ate it, he had cut some of himself off, and had eaten that as well. To do so, here, though would give up the game that he was playing in that guise. She placed a key purposefully on the counter next to the plate, “Your room miss. On the house.” She didn’t know whether or not he was staying anywhere else, but Shinjiro would at least have a room available if he got into any real trouble here in aroma country.

---

Meanwhile, the clone who was talking to Nozomi, Miraiya, and Hanako nodded as she listened to the story of Hanako’s settling into Kumogakure. It was much the same as Chiaki had felt when she was living in Kumogakure. She had felt like almost all of her relationships were transactional, and once the transaction for power was done and Chiaki had been trained and achieved the peak of her kunoichi prowess, disaster after disaster struck, leaving her isolated in Iwagakure. Even now, all of the people she cared about were part of different villages. She was just starting to get back some semblance of belonging, after being a pariah for so long. Kotori, Natsumi, and some of the less observant or prejudiced Enkouten had seen to that, but the relationships that she had there felt brittle now that she had lost so many relationships.

Kanade’s clone was well used to Hanako’s ramblings, but pretended to be more and more irritated as Hanako finally settled on an apprentice chef position. She sighed in relief, letting out a small chuckle, “Alright, well you’ll have to talk to the cook over there.” The clone pointed to the real self making the scampi and setting it in front of shinjiro across the room, “She is in charge of training the help for the kitchen.” She put a hand in front of her in a convivial manner, “Enkouten, Kanade at your service. Let me know how else I can make your stay here in Aroma a magical experience.”

Kanade’s clone left the three girls to talk, two Kumogakure nin and a kirigakure nin. She kept a close eye on them, however, as Nozomi was most likely known as Shinjiro’s child now, and while Kanade had absolutely no blood ties to the girl, she couldn’t help but feel responsible for two of the party there. Best if they got along. She wondered as she met up with another clone going to the center of the restaurant, whether or not this event would end in disaster, heartache, and feeling more estranged than ever like the last one.

--

A set of sushi rolls, a Gyuudon and an iced tea, and finally a Mochi and Dorayaki was what this sixteen year old had wanted. It was more than enough food to feed three people, but she had seen some shinobi tuck it away that were littler than she was. People also, she supposed, had been training all day, so why not enjoy some of the local cuisine. The problem is, she wasn’t a local. Kanade’s clone sighed and almost passed up another table with a ninja that she actually recognized. A small boy when she had left him, he was still a boy, but wasn’t quite so small anymore. Akihiko introduced himself as Akihito the great again, bringing back memories of how he had escorted her to the fishing village just a half day outside Kumogakure proper, when she was on probation. It elicited a giggle from her and she nodded bowing her head, “Akihiko the great, I won’t have to call out your name, as there are plenty of us servers to go around. I’ll get your dango right away.” She scurried off, meeting up with the clone that had just talked to Hanako, Miraiya, and Nozomi.

“I have an order for a set of sushi rolls, a Gyuudon and Iced tea. For dessert she is wanting Mochi and Dorayaki.” The clone that came from that direction stated, before taking 20 of the dango, quite a few since there were four per stick he would be eating 80 individual dango balls. “These are for the pink haired young gentleman over there.” The other two Kanade looked over and chuckled to themselves, shaking their head identically.

The one with the order of Akihiko’s also grabbed an iced tea, walking back she set the platter absolutely heaping with Dango in front of the pink haired boy and pointed over to Kureha, “She seems to be in want of company. This is supposed to be a mingling event yeah? Why not go over and say hi to her.” She gave him a bit of a wink before going over to Kureha and setting the tea in front of the girl, “Your order will be ready soon!” She bowed to the young woman and jogged back to pick up the last bits of conversation between the clone that had talked to Hanako and the real Kanade.

“-sure that she can cook, I can teach her.” She nodded, then looked back at the clone, “Oh, yeah, why don’t you help me with actually preparing this monster of an order, and I’ll go through and doctor them up so that they’re really nice and tasty.” The clone came over to where the other one had started to help the real Kanade with making the order. If Shinjiro wanted to talk, she would be making the meal in front of him while talking.
making the foodShow
The Gyudon meat had already been marinating most of the night and the first clone took it out of the ice box, setting it down on the counter and cut it into fine strips before adding soy sauce, garlic powder, a bit of brown sugar, a dash of ginger, and green onions into the mixture. She brought this to a boil while the other Kanade clone started to make the mochi, pulling and stretching it before pounding it down and repeating the process. The real Kanade was pouring the batter for the dorayaki into the skillet, creating two perfectly round fluffy pancake-like confections.

The gyudon meat cooked in the mixture that the first clone made, she added the beef stock, along with the onions, scallions and red peppers and brought that to a boil as well, stirring vigorously so as to mix all of the different flavors. The other clone, having made the mochi took over for the real Kanade, handing the mochi over to her. Kanade wove her hands in a series of complex hand seals before she held her hand over the mochi.

The gyuudon was the next to receive Kanade’s chakra, and then, after that, the bean paste was added to the dorayaki, her chakra was added to these as well. Kanade, with the foresight of a true chef, had made the sushi right after the first customer had come in, and took out one of the pre-made rolls, cut it into uniform pieces before imbuing that with chakra as well. All of the Kanade’s breamed at each other. The two clones made their way back to Kureha, setting all of the food in front of her, bowing as they did so.
Kanade was flattered that there were this many people in her restaurant, but she also was here to relax and get some fun in the sun. Probably not volleyball or anything that strenuous, but building a sand castle, lounging on the beach, and swimming in the shallow waters of Aroma Country were all on the agenda. She could leave the cooking to either Hanako, or more likely, to the new round of clones in the morning and just have a day to relax and enjoy herself tomorrow.

She wondered if anyone would want food to go, and whether or not she would be able to make some ryo from the event to take home to help her decorating for her bun in the oven. With these thoughts in her head, she set about making more Dorayaki, as she thought it might be more popular with the smells of the confectionary filling the restaurant with its sweet scent.

Sitting at the table, Roku was occasionally sipping on a cup filled with sake. As he sat there, more people came around the table to chat with Akito and his company. It seemed to Roku that Akito was a cult of personality, and the shark skinned man had to agree with everyone's fondness of him. Akito was a likable man. When Ichiro came into the room and placed his hand on Roku, Roku showed the same distaste that Akito had for the drunk. Roku did not like being touched by strange men, he wasn't a lady of the night and he didn't earn enough ryo to act as such. Cool and calm though, Roku didn't make any movements to suggest he had been annoyed by the candid friendliness. Roku was a man of good faith, he believed the drunken man was surely just showing a friendly side of him. After all, any under handed tactics were basically outlawed in Aroma currently. If he had been scraped by Roku's scales on purpose Ichiro was a foolish man, and whether Ichiro was foolish or friendly was no cause for Roku to show distaste. He raised his cup up when Ichiro cheered, Roku was trying to have a good time after all.

When Akito spoke to Roku he was sipping from his cup. Roku listened intently as he downed the fire water. "A Hyuuga from Konoha. Pleasure to have ya at the table. I hear your people are capable of uh-may-zing things." Roku drew out the syllables of amazing, his big pink tongue maneuvering itself around his mouth precisely to form the sounds he was making. "And, Waterfall eh? That's quite something too. We got a whole group here. Where are all ya from?" Roku set his drink down and reached into his pockets for a party treat.

When he pulled his hand out he had in it a tin filled with left handed cigarillos, six of them. Roku set the tin down on the table and opened it up. The thick cigarillo's were brown and composed of single tobacco leafs. The blunts were loaded with medicinal grade cannabis that Roku had bought from Shady Shiit, a dealer in Xincha. His name was certainly suspicious but he had the goods. The strain Roku had bought from Shiit before he left Heart was called Grand Daddy Purple and on the ends of the blunts you could see vibrant green and purple weed. They rillo's looked top shelf, and they were. Roku had hand rolled them specially for his trip to Aroma. He would hate to blaze em all up in one shot, but he figured why not. After all, everyone was willing to spend money on booze. Roku figured it was only fair that he contribute in some way.

"Let's light up." Roku said, but as he did he glanced a look from one of the hostesses clones. She was shaking her head. Roku smiled as hard as he could, bearing those large dagger like shark teeth, and then grabbed the case of blunts from the table. He closed the tin back up and put it in his pocket once more. "Looks like we will have to wait to smoke these outside." Roku grabbed his drink and gulped the large sip down. He flipped his cup upside down, signaling he was ready for another shot, or perhaps to get out of the pop up. Roku was eager to share his weed with his new friends, particularly Ichiro and Akito.

As Roku was sitting there he wondered how his wife back at home in Xincha was doing. Minami was a good woman who had always been faithful to him. The trust between Roku and his wife was unbreakable. The two of them were wildly in love. All of a sudden, Roku wished he had brought his wife with him.

Mariya's brow wrinkled slightly- a new showing of emotion that had evolved for the formerly test-tube-grown-weapon, trained by a sociopathic black ops commander the past few years. Mariya wasn't good at showing her emotions back in the day. Especially not when she was on missions with Chiaki or other Kumogakure shinobi. She had always been married to the mission. Cold. Set on success. To some degree, the childish, foolishness of Aki had brought more out of her and the awkwardness of Hanako had held a mirror to her. Perhaps it was to her fathers plan to send her on missions with them. As if each interaction he set had been carefully planned to bring the right young people together to grow them for the proper reasons.

But why had he failed to do that for Chiaki? Why had she ailed to be that friend? That peer. As she listened to the other two girls talk, she chimed in.

"I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for Chiaki. I wasn't a good friend when she needed it. I've never been a good friend, not to her or anyone." she said whilst looking to the side and past the group and everyone towards a particular pink-haired kid. Hanako's thoughts about purpose and what she wanted lingered in her mind all the while. With a tint of sorrow she put her head on her palms, as she said "I'm a soldier... Good Soldiers follow orders."

With a shake of her head, she took her cup and drank whatever it was Kanade had offered to her. The ruminations of purpose bubbled up to the top.

"I was grown in a tube- I was given genetics in a purely calculated way to make me a soldier. I was expendable." she bit her lip. "Chiaki and Aki and the others though didn't see me that way..." she said as she put a hand on Hanako's shoulder. Even though Hanako hadn't remembered her face, Mariya knew the weight the other girl shared. They were similar.

"I don't fully disagree with this here Nozomi that the world at it's core is transactional- but I also think there is room for spiritually finding yourself through others and service of... Like a snot nosed brat you should protect, even though you get nothing in return." she said once more looking back to Aki, then to Hanako. Chiaki had found purpose in her care of others despite her shortcomings and it was something that had inspired change in Mariya. "Akino gave his life to protect all of us in the village. For nothing in return but death. It's an interesting transaction to think about... To give it all to protect those you love."

Her eyes switched to this Nozomi girl, as Hanako had called her. It was interesting to infer Kumogakure and Kirigakure were not enemies. They never directly fought, but generally Kumogakure had always played a role in thwarting Kirigakue's advances from Soul to even helping take back Konohagakure.

"We're all only enemies because of the ego of certain rulers..." she noted, an eye on Nozomi. "It's tragic that some countries spread their wealth and time fighting rather than improving the world."

At the end of the day, Mariya was still a soldier of her Empire; one that she felt no one else could hold a moral candle too. Proof of who was paying reparations for the great war was enough to prove that.

"Maybe our purpose can be to go beyond our predecessors and build peace between the Great Five. Maybe your Journeys with Chiaki, Hanako, making friends all over the world have a purpose..." she looked at Nozomi.

"Nakajima Mariya, by the way."

Yume stopped sniffing once he saw the restaurant with multiple people sitting inside, he questioned if he should interact with them or if he should remain anonymous. His wondering if he should reveal himself to other people now got him wondering if his twin brother was up to something crazy right now because it always seemed to be that whatever one was doing the other was pulling the total opposite, so now that Yume was making sure that no one knew who he was, Yami had to be out creating a ruckus, probably with Ziv. Yume licked the ice cream and shrugged as he looked at the beautiful head chef, he stared at her for a while, not with lust but with wonder. She seems like a nice lady. Yume was scared, he had heard that mingling with large crowds was a bad idea, or at least that was what his benefiter had told him.

Hozok still keeping an eye on Yume would lean against one of the palm trees and mack on one of the passing women. "Hola mami, come back later, I am a little busy right now." The teacher chuckled but as he turned his attention back to Yume he noticed that the boy had already moved on, Perhaps he doesn't feel ready for the world yet, poor kid. Hozok followed along, making sure to keep out of anyone's view, he was sure that they could sense him via sensory but he couldn't care less about that now, especially not when he was in Aroma which was safeguarded by the most badass samurai but also because Hozok hadn't been an active missing-nin for over 20 years so anyone recognizing him or his chakra signature was little to worry about.

Hozok watched how Yume pulled up a scroll, from this distance he could only tell that it had something to do with fuuinjutsu but he couldn't read the jutsu from here. Studying while he is on vacation, good on you. Hozok was impressed, so for the next couple of minutes, the teacher would sit by the palm tree dressed in shorts and a tank top reading a book while his student was studying under the shade. Hozok couldn't believe he got paid for this, perhaps he could order a drink from here and get to enjoy both worlds while he was at it, nevertheless, he focused on making sure that the boy didn't disappear from his view, he couldn't afford to lose anyone, especially Ziv and Yume. The former was being watched by their top teachers, meaning Yume's life was in his hands and Ishizuka was moving about somewhere further ahead.

I see, if I master the art of Fuuinjutsu then I can incorporate some genjutsu into it and create some sort of eternal prisons. Crazy, you know what would be even crazier? If I managed to somehow see what happens within the genjutsu and control them from the outside, like some sort of dream weaver... Oooh. Yume chuckled as he continued to read the scrolls, he knew that he needed to practice but the beach wasn't the right place to train Fuuinjutsu, nor by some restaurant.

Nozomi would carefully listen to the Kumogakure Shinobi and her words and while they did have a certain amount of truth and logic to them though she found certain places that she did disagree with. As well as places she believed there was holes in her logic so when she was done talking she would say.

“It seems so far the only thing we agree on is that the other isn’t fully wrong in their beliefs. Because just like you I can’t say i fully disagree with everything you said though there was a few things. For example you may have a point that there is room for stuff outside transactions but I feel like those situations are more rare than you think. “ Nozomi pauses for a bit to let that idea sink in before continuing saying.

“Such as the transaction you mentioned with Akino I feel that is a far more common transaction then you realize, Akino was a ninja like us wasnt he? That means he was trained to protect Kumogakure and while a good soldier follows orders they also protect the thing that they were trained to fight for. The transaction was quite clear in exchange for food lodgings and other monetary, status and social benefits that being a ninja comes with he sacrificed his life.

It all because the sacrifice was worth what he felt he had gained and protecting that, which made that transaction happen. “

She added the last part especially for Hanako’s benefit, though because she was so young she wasn’t aware of the history of Kumogakure and their history of thwarting Kirigakures plans. Very few people knew her true age and she liked to keep it that way.

The second thing I disagree with is your reason why we are all enemies” she couldn’t say it while her father and other high ranking officials were hear but after hearing what the Kumogakure ninja said she couldn’t fully disagree with what they said.

Hypothetically even if you ignored the ego of certain rulers and people could pick their own ruler or make their own government that wouldn’t change anything since most people will hate other cultures because they can’t understand them or they feel like that culture violates their values. “

Again she would wait for that to sink in before saying
For example Kirigakure uses slaves and I can’t see that disapearing anytime soon that means other countries like Fire country or maybe even Lightning empire will refuse to ever have friendly relations. Another possible example is Heart despite while that could’ve been all one individual’s responsibility it’s also just as likely the people supported it when they launched a war after the other nations agreed to peace. Using the excuse that since they never agreed to that they could do what they wanted.”

“If peace is what my nation wants then I won’t disagree but I can’t see it happening in our generation with all the fighting going on. “

She would then do a slight curtsy saying “Karagata Nozomi pleased to make your acquaintance.”

His pen scratched against another sheet of paperwork as he signed his name to it and placed it into a box labeled 'Out' before digging another one out of the box labeled 'In.' The clock decorating the wall above him ticked away as the soft click of its mechanisms filled the silence of the office. Everyone had been pushing him to take a vacation, however small, as events were coming to a climax. Who knew the next time he would be able to once everything was all said and done? His pen came to a stop and he placed it down before swiveling around in his chair to lookout the bay window with a magnificent view of the village. His violet eyes stared out over it as he thought about they were right. This may be the final time he could do something like this.

His chair swung around again and his finger pressed against the intercom button on his desk. With a few brief words, his secretary was alerted he would, in fact, be taking that small vacation and to alert his wife. He channeled chakra into the picture of home on his desk and stood up as the Anchor opened a portal to the place in the picture where his smiling, already packed and changed, wife stood with their bags in the foyer. The violet eyed man chuckled before racing upstairs to change from his usual wardrobe into a pair of off white board shorts and a black open button down with faded orange pineapples and equally faded blue orchids decorating the shirt capped off with some sunglasses. Back downstairs, the pair stepped through a portal and emerged on the sandy beaches of Aroma where he was promptly ordered to find them an inn while... she found them a spot on the beach.

A crisp laughed escaped him as he shook his head in feigned disbelief. A quick peck on the lips sealed the deal as he turned about to find somewhere to stay and his attention was immediately drawn to a familiar metallic structure not too far away. Hoisting the two large suitcases onto each shoulder, he began the trek towards the Inn. A pair of slides adorned his feet as he pushed across the sand and read the name of the establishment over his sunglasses only to chuckle at the name, his suspicions only growing larger.

Pushing through the doors, Tatsuo's head swiveled around the inn slowly taking in the clientele as he looked for a hostess. A wolfish grin came over his lips as he realized just who the owner was.

"I'll need a drink and a room for two."

Yume felt something shift in the air, it was almost as if the aura around them had altered to a more soothing and pleasant feeling. The young orphan turned towards the entrance of the hotel and saw some red-headed maestro stroll in as if he owned the place, a slight chuckle escaped his breath as he peered back to the scroll. What a strange fellow. Yume continued to read as if his vacation depended on him completing this task, all the while the redhead still lingered in his mind. I wonder who that is?

Hozok on the other hand leaned against a thick palm tree, he hid from Tatsuo as he very much knew who that man was, the Tsuchikage, a man he wouldn't want to run into, considering he was still a missing ninja from his ally nation. Even though everyone was supposedly safe here, he didn't want to alert them to his existence, if they still believed Hozok to be dead then he was better off, Nehan on the other hand seemed to have other ideas, swooping down from the skies the Wicked Witch had finally arrived.

Landing next to Yume, the witch would gently pat him on his left shoulder, "Keep up the studies, but try to enjoy your free time." Nehan couldn't fault the kid for reading, perhaps he didn't feel all that safe around strangers, and reading got him to concentrate, either way, Nehan didn't mind, she would instead march head on towards the hotel, the Witch was going to introduce herself to the world to figure out what the hell had happened while she was gone. The doors opened gently as she snuck in behind two exiting customers, she saluted and let them pass before she entered.

She took a look around the suave hotel, there were many faces that she both recognized and didn't, so the first order of business was to check in, from there on she would figure out what she would do next, perhaps she could find some work, that would at least allow her to stretch her stiff teacher legs, or heck, she could perhaps even find an assignment, perhaps...

"I would like to take a room as well, preferably one that overlooks the streets, I like watching people at night." The Witch said the last part discreetly to the desk worker, Nehan wasn't wearing her regular get up, in fact, she was dressed in what appeared to be white sweats, a black top and a light white robe with orange trimmings over it.

A feather would drop between the worker and Nehan as she giggled and blew it out of the way, her wings had returned from whence they came, allowing her to appear less like an angel, figuring that it would be far more casual for her to walk around that way. A chuckle escaped her breath as she fixed her hair into a messy bun, once she got the keys she would head over to the restaurant and stand in line, she was going to order something to eat and perhaps even give Yume some, worst case she could pretend that the boy was hers, but that depended on both Hozok and Yume.

It was clear that there were already circles within this place. The boy happily accepted the the massive amounts of sweet treats. Although the young chuunin wanted to converse with others, his mouth was simply watering at the idea of devouring all of these treats. So with that being said, the child smiled as if he had won the lottery. With his smile almost touching his ears the child moved rather quickly to an empty table and wanted to eat in peace. The boy placed the plate on the table and the pink hair flopped in the air as his butt sat down on the seat. Once he moved in to his table with his chair, the child swiftly clapped his hands together and gave a prayer. Now, in a normal situation he would pray to a god or loved ones for being fortunate. But the boy would not be caught doing that, instead he was praying to himself. He muttered softly "Thank you me for being awesome and successful enough to buy all the sweet treats I can handle and more. Amen". Upon thanking himself, the boy opened his eyes and stared at the yummy food.

This child went to absolute town on these treats. Shoving one after another in his mouth as if it was somehow both his first and last meal. With no end in sight the teenager was devouring the food in front of him. What a time to be alive!
