Ziv had retreated into his motel room for the night, having been able to meet a few new people and also experience the sites and sounds of the festival over the past couple of day, so tonight he had decided to not go out with the others and just use this time to rest up a bit from being in the sun all day. But as he laid there on his bed, both hands behind his head he couldn't help but to think back to the large metal structure that he'd passed by today. It was so different, being made out of some kind of metal, making it stand out from the normal concrete and stone structure that seemed the baseline for the area. From that he could determine that it had been built just for the festival, but not even he could imagine with his limited ninjutsu knowledge that it had actually been the creation of a shinobi. An entire motel like structure! But what interested the man more than just the elegant and sleek looks of the building was the fact that someone had placed large fuuin across its boundaries like some kind of extra defensive measures.

As a novice in the art of array and inscription patterns, having only began to learn about them in the fuuin class at the school, he was amazed by the number of patterns within each of the seals, to the point that he wasn't sure exactly how many were there. Unable to get it out of his head the youth rolled over and hopped out of bed before taking a seat at the single person desk against the wall. Several books were scattered upon it as he shuffled through a few of them until he found a level one fuuinjutsu studies book from class. Flipping it open it landed on the basic storage seal, the example took up the entire page as he traced his fingers over the four simple patterns that were combined together to form the inner and outer seals as they mixed together into a single seal. "How long will it take me to learn fuuin at that person's level?"

After drawing a seal formula on a surface, ensuring it is large enough for the object that is about to be stored. The user will then begin placing the object into the seal. The user can only seal objects up to their ([Control]*2)m^3 in size.

For the creation of inscription patterns, sometimes also called arrays, the practitioner needed to have a grasp on the specific rune patterns that melded together to form that specific seal, to completely commit them to memory in order to be able to use them in even in the midst of combat. Though Ziv was far from that level he was slowly catching on as he looked over the twelve basic patterns that were used in the creation of most all low level fuuin and similar techniques. He was becoming fairly familiar with them at this point, having been studying and tracing them for the last few weeks between lectures on them and in his off time just trying to carve out a better mental understanding of the patterns. As someone who wished to pursue rune crafting, this was the baseline that he needed to forge for himself in order to then use it as the step up into the actual crafting world. But, at the moment that was still quite a high step for him, one might better call it a leap upwards as he flipped back and forth from the simple storage seal to the new seal on the next page.

One of the most commonly used fuuin by any shinobi, the basic explosive seal. While in its limited form it could still be useful even at mid level fighting depending on the wit of the person using it. Ripping out a sheet of his notebook paper the man began to draw out the seal, consisting also of six seperate patterns as he used his chakra to infuse the ink that he was writing with to slowly charge the tiny seal that was only a few inches in size once complete. "Hah, kai!" Proud of his work the both formed a single handed seal and use the basic chakra kai technique to release the seal, which created an explosion about like striking a match. "Well, better than the smoke it produced last time..."

After drawing a ([Control]/5)x([Control]/5) meter seal formula on a surface of an object. The user will then arm it with their chakra up to [Control] strength with a concussive force explosion outwards from itself.

The small tendril of smoke twirled lightly, curving around itself as it rose into the air from the center of the burning piece of notebook paper now, but Ziv didn't seem displeased in the least as he gave a gentle nod of approve with his head. That had been the first time he'd been able to cause it to 'explode' even if that 'explosion' was closer to a match going off than a firecracker. But progress was always good, even if it was baby steps, each time he crafted a seal his understanding of the basic twelve inscription patterns increased just a bit more. Once he fully had a grasp on all twelve and the methods for combining them to create unique fuuin arrays, only then would he be able to actually call himself a novice crafter and look for someone to apprentice himself under at the academy which had a handful of crafters.

Having made some progress with his explosive seal the boy turned himself to something a bit more unique as he dove into the defense seal. This ordinary looking seal actually had some combat applications to it if one was able to use it in the right circumstances. It allowed for one to create a seal that could be used to actually intercept and capture flying projectiles. But the difficult creation due to is using seven rune patterns and having to match or exceed the strength of the attack did limit its uses, sadly. Nevertheless, Ziv continued to research it by drawing it out on the black page in his notebook after the torn page he used for the previous seal. One seal, three seals, five seal, and finally the seventh seal was overlaid on the others as he reached into the bag leaned against the edge of the desk and removed a single kunai. Holding it over the page with one hand and form the seal with the other, he activated the seal and dropped the kunai at the same time. Like magic the glowing seal absorbed the falling kunai.

*Storage Fuuinjutsu • Sealing Defense
D-Rank Fuuinjutsu
By having an empty surface with a seal formula placed on it, the user is able to use the seal as a defensive measure. Holding a single, one-handed hand seal, the user attempts to block the incoming projectile with the surface. Right before contact is actually made, the projectile will be sealed into the seal. While strong, the seal must be the same size or larger than the projectile it is attempting to seal. This seal can protect up to the user’s [Control] in Strength. Once used to seal and then release again, the seal will need to be rewritten. The user can only seal objects up to their ([Control]*2)m^3 in size.

"It actually worked that time." Pleasantly surprise, Ziv thought back to the time in class when they were all working on copying down the seal from the board as the Array teacher worked her hardest to get the students to understand just how to draw each of the basic twelve fundamental array patterns. Each day she would demonstrate how to draw each of the seals and then cold call upon students to come up and explain and draw one of the seals. Needless to say, most of the kids that get called still have a hard time just trying to trace the seal let alone understand the intricate patterns of each seal. But as he thought about it he remembered asking the teacher, where fuuin array only useful for preparing for known conflict, understanding where you wanted to draw an enemy in to fight and prepping the battlespace with fuuin.

She smiled at him and simply shook her head, "Not quite, these fuuin array may seem complicated at the moment but in time you will be able to draw them like you write your name and then the next natural progression is of course prepping seal tags to use before and during combat. But there is actually a third step that advanced array masters can perform, using their chakra to create arrays from memory." Ziv was of course very intrigued by this answer and couldn't help but raise his hand to ask another question causing the woman to shake her head with a smile, "I know what you are about to ask," She spoke scanning the class, it was a question that she got almost every time she taught this class. With that in mind she sighed and then began forming hand seals before she then placed her palm in front of her as chakra that had formed in the palm of her hand leaped forward swirling around as multiple patterns mixed into a single seal about a foot in diameter. 'I'm going to be able to do that...'

*Charge Fuuinjutsu • Air Seal
D-Rank Fuuinjutsu
A truly unique move in that it can be used alongside other Fuuinjutsu, by channeling into their finger as they draw in the air directly in front of them, the user releases raw chakra the lingers for a small amount of time, allowing it to be used as a seal formula. Alternatively, the user can also do hand seals and place their hands forward, causing a seal to burst to life in the air in front of them. This technique consumes chakra equal to the cost of the technique.

Ziv snapped himself back into reality, rubbing his face for a moment to help focus as he looked down at his own hands, exhaling slowly the boy held his left-hand palm up as he reached over with the other hand to grasp gently at the wrist as if trying to help stabilize the hand from moving too much. 'Focus' The white-haired student was recalling what his teacher had taught him as he focused on the seal that he was trying to form; it was the basic explosive seal as he closed his eyes now and allowed the outline of the six inscription patterns contained within the completed array to form in his thoughts. Each separate for the moment as he began to move them about, stacking them in their appropriate spot as one seal was connected to another and then another, slowly forming the completed explosion seal within his thoughts. Feeling like he had memorized every single curve, bend, and swirl as they overlayed with each other. 'What a strange feeling this is, it feels like I have memories of learning this somewhere before but how could that be true?'

With the perfected array outline in his mind the boy allowed for his chakra to take shape in the palm of his hand forming into a miniature version of the explosive seal as his eyes opened and he projected the chakra out and away from his hand. A one-foot round explosive seal formed, about twice as large as his normal seal as his bright blue eyes widened. "If constructing a seal is like that then to deconstruct it, I need to..." As the chakra array floated in the air the boy lifted his right hand and placed it against the seal, slowly allowing for his chakra to seep out and into the separate seals, His chakra moved between the seals inside the array slowly breaking the array seals back into different seal. "It makes so much more sense now.

After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will hold their hand over a seal, and begin to remove it. This removal will be successful as long as the user has more [Control] than that of which the Fuuinjutsu was sealed with.

With his chakra moving between the seals inside the array, the six different array patterns inside where slowly breaking down into their individual and different seal. "As long as one understands the type and number of base seals used in a fuuinjutsu, then one should be able to, at least in theory, remove that fuuin rendering it inert." The bright blue eyes of the youth stared intently at the single array that now separated into six smaller array patterns the use to make up the explosive seal. After both creating and breaking down the basic explosive seal a few times in this manner Ziv had a thought form within his adventurous mind, most combinations of seals had been created for form the baseline of arrays or fuuin as shinobi called them, through mixing and matching of the placement and melding of the base patterns to create new jutsu, empower old ones, or alter the effect of existing techniques. Experimentation! Sometimes the boy considered himself like a junior scientist when it came to things like this and with that, he closed his eyes for a moment as he began to ponder in his thoughts.

The six basic array patterns for the formation of the explosive seal began to form now, but as he was recreating the seal he drew from his knowledge of the other six basic array patterns in order to determine what was compatible with the other six. One failure, two failures...as he tried to piece together an empowered explosive seal each time, he tried either a new seal or the placement of the seal it failed. It wasn't until he reached his sixteen attempt that he was able to completely assemble all seven seals now as he manifested a six-inch explosive seal before him now. "I wonder what it does." There was a reason for its size as he activated it and it exploded, which wasn't a surprise being an explosive seal but what surprised him what that it sent the explosive force in a single direction as it damaged the nearby extra chair a few meters away. "Damn, I'm definitely going to have to pay for that."

Force Fuuinjutsu • Directional Explosive Release

Prerequisite: *Charge Fuuinjutsu • Air Seal
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will create a fuuin seal in the air with raw chakra within thirty meters of themself. This explosive seal is able to store up to [Control] strength worth of explosive force fifteen meters in size that when released is projected outwards from seal in a single direction out to thirty meters. Seal can last for up to four posts before it needs to be activated before dissipating.

"Hope that isn't too expensive, it's hard to earn ryo at the school..." Ziv couldn't help but sigh aloud a little, getting up from his own chair to clean up the pieces of the standard looking wooden chair, caught up in the explosion caused by the young student's new explosive seal, not knowing that it was going to become a directional explosive that did work on that chair. In his hands were pieces of the chair, the kid debating if he should get rid of the evidence or tell one of the teachers that was chaperoning the group about the incident. After a few minutes of thought the boy could only shake his head back and forth. Yume, Yami, and himself were known somehow for the trouble that they would get into, most of the time not entirely of their own fault, but trouble did sometime follow the Avian trio around it felt like. This would definitely get him some type of scolding or lecture from the other teachers. 'Chalk it up to science...' Talking to himself in thought the boy chuckled a little, feeling a bit mischievous but attempting to avoid the latter punishment as he took the scattered pieces and packed them away into his day bag to sneak out of his room tomorrow.

Next, he turned his attention onto the Sealing Defense fuuin that was still on his desk with the kunai sealed inside of it, then he thought back to the array pattern that he'd been able to meld into the explosive seal to create a direction effect. 'Perhaps...' Ziv contemplated if using the same array pattern and increasing the number of array patterns to seven could prove to have similar effect on the other seal. Seeming to make a pen appear out of thin air as it twirled around his fingers for a moment, he began to adjust the unique storage seal with his own runes in order to see just what effect he could create with a new seal...

Storage Fuuinjutsu • Storage Strike

Used in conjunction with storage seals, the user forms the needed hand seals then touches the storage seal causing it to release up to ten of the objects stored inside the seal simultaneously, launching them outwards at a strength of the user’s [Control]. The objects will be released in a small spread, only a few inches apart from each other out to thirty meters

The results of tinkering with the storage seal allowed for the youth to slowly understand what some of the individual sealing arrays that made up the entirety of the inscription formula were able to do when mixed with certain other ones. Though he was gaining some true insight into the art form of inscription, he also knew that he hadn't even been dealing with more than the basic twelve symbols, even in the basic book that he was working from it only went over the basic twenty-four. Who knew just how many unique seals there was one could use to create their own unique fuuin. It was almost mind boggling for the young kid to even begin to fathom the level of understanding and memorization of potentially a nigh unlimited number of array patterns if one were to truly dedicate a lifetime to study of them. Eventually he was able to adapt the previous seal to one that would not only store but also eject the stored weapons, a fun breakthrough as a couple kunai could be seen embedded in the wall of his hotel room.

Flipping through his basic instruction book the boy came to a stronger storage seal that improved upon the previous beginner ranked seal that only used four separate arrays, increasing the patterns involved in its creation up to eight. Using his left index finger, he began first by identifying the individual seals that lay melded together in the completed seal within the pages of his schoolbook. "So, when you combine those four main seals used in storage type arrays, with those two you can create a larger space within the seal and then these other two." He continued to study the seal, looking over the final two seals with a nod of his head. "Then the remaining two were used to provide stability to the seal and the way chakra flows through it. How ingenious."

After drawing a seal of appropriate size for the object but no larger than 1 meter, the user is able to store things at depth within this seal to near limitless lengths. The user is able to store up to [Control]/2 of the same item within this seal regardless of the depth of the surface.

To an extent, the interaction between the twelve base seals was pretty well documented in the basic fuuin array book, as the basic seals used by most shinobi in their daily duties were covered in the first five chapters of the book. Storage seals to transport things, explosive seals to be used in either offensive or as tools for misdirection, then a combination of the two really with the seal that was able to absorb tools and then later shoot these tools with one's chakra instead of through physical force. But it was the next chapter that was a change of pace as he moved into what was called augmentation arrays, these inscription patterns were more focused on the defensive and supplementary parts of combat. On page 87 the youth's bright blue eyes were looking over a type of endurance seal, one that was able to reinforce an item that the seal was inscribed upon. "This looks useful. It appears that it's a mixture of eight or nine array seals that work to infuse the chakra of the seal directly into whatever it is place upon, the size of the seal governing the strength or durability increase the item can receive, based on the chakra used."

Though it wasn't anything to crazy, the boy took his time deconstructing the seal as he flipped to the next page that began to explain the seal in more depth, going down to each of the nine seals used to create the entire inscription array. "After you manage to form the actually array, the seal will grow based on the user's chakra control, spreading across the surface or item." Pushing back his chair the fifth-year student stood up and looked over to the wall with a few small holes in its from his experimenting with the kunai seal earlier. Forming hand seals, he reached out and touched the wall as a intermediate seal began to come to life, slowly inching its way out from the seal created underneath his hand.

*Augment Fuuinjutsu • Strengthen and Enhance

After drawing the necessary seals on the object, the user will imbue the object with a strength equal to their [Control]. The size of this fuuinjutsu is contextual in terms of the object it is applied to and the strength it is enhanced to. For example, if imbued with 50 strength the object will have 90% of its surface space covered, while if only imbued with 25 strength roughly under half of its surface space would be taken up by the seal.

The boy continued to allow for his chakra to pour into the seal as it spread out, but due to his own control and chakra pool, Ziv was unable to actually cover the entire wall in the strengthen fuuin, but found himself able to cover a little over half of it, then as the seal seemed to slow and finally cease growing outwards from the center he pulled his hand back disconnecting himself from the center of the inscription array. "Things are starting to make more sense to me, this seal seems pretty useful, but I'll need to use it ahead of time as trying to use it in battle will be rather cumbersome. " Surprisingly for his age, the young Saisuko was already starting to understand the planning process of combat, perhaps it was the fight between the griffin spirit, or his encounter with those bandits, but his real-life combat experience was starting to grow, and he was becoming more aware of things. Drawing back his right arm as the fingers curled into a tight ball, he punched out with all of his might knowing full well that without that seal on the wall his surprisingly high strength, regardless of his tiny body, was enough to easily punch a hole through the wooden wall.

But as his fist impacted the seal infused wall it felt like he'd struck a wooden training dummy, a slightly impression of his knuckles all that was left on the wall as the boy was left shaking his hand as the recoil sent a small wave of pain back through his arm. "Crap!" Shaking his hand out the boy shook his head, but unable to stop from letting out a snicker as he returned to the desk to investigate the next array. Using his left hand to turn the page as he began to read the next chapter he widened his eyes a bit, this 'Link' seal allowed communication like radios by projecting chakra back and forth between the 'linked' seals worn by others. This reminded him of his own black metal ability, the rods able to transmit and recieve chakra between them. His body leaned in closer to the book as he studied the array patterns contained within the smaller seal, the precision needed to craft such a tiny seal with seven different patterns included in its for was truly high, above that of any beginner crafter. But what he was hoping to find was something to help him either understand his own ability more or perhaps seals that would work to help increase them when combined together.

By performing the necessary hand seals, the user will then touch their target’s ear and on the lips, this creates an audio link between themselves and any targets they personally place this seal combination on. While hearing is always active, channeling chakra into the seal allows affected targets to speak, their words being stored and transmitted to the other seals. The act of speaking charges negligent chakra.

In a notebook off to the left side of the book on his small desk, Ziv was drawing out the individual sealing patterns used in the tiny 'Link' fuuin, enlarging each to the point that each of the seven took up a full page within the lineless pages of the boy's personal workbook. The interaction between these seals was an intriguing one for the boy who couldn't help but want to study them more in depth but the book itself didn't truly dive into each and every individual seal pattern like the boy wished it would have. Perhaps when he returned to Sky Reach, he could request permission to check out some of the books from the upper classmen section of the library, he was truly annoyed at the limited placed on the fifth-year students at the academy but he also understood the reasoning after seeing the ex-students who had turned to a life as bandits trying to steal from the academy itself and its students too.

Ziv had been on the seal for an hour probably before he had to push the idea aside, feeling that he'd reach a point that he needed some guidance from the Rune teacher back at Sky Reach, perhaps she'd be able to guide him in the right direction for the answers that he was seeking. Flipping open to a blank page in his notebook the white-haired kid turned his attention to the last couple chapters of his book. It wasn't more complete array diagrams like in the novice and beginning sections of the book. Instead introduced a new array pattern on each page with the adjacent page detailing the way it controlled the flow of chakra and what other array patterns it was known to work best with. "Twelve more new seals, just how many are there?" A light sigh escaped the boy's partially open mouth as he started to draw and make notes of the new seals as he reaches about each one, but the book itself no pushed for the learner to start truly experimenting with the array patterns, empowering the creative minds of the apprentices.

"I see, so we are supposed to use the approach of trial and error to see how the seals best fit not only with each of the other eleven new ones but with the six basic and six beginner seals, too. " Most would have probably been like 'what the fuck' but Ziv was actually an excited to potentially develop a new fuuinjutsu that perhaps no one else had. Though he considered that was probably unlikely with the small array pile that he had, twenty-four in total, he was still excited to try. He drew a few seals from the explosive seal, some from the storage strike seal, and some from the new seals as he tried to match up the seals that were able to produce a stable flow of chakra within them. Unsure of what the true result was going to be, hopefully he didn't destroy anything else in the process, if he had been more safety conscious he probably would have gone at least outside for this. The boy's first combination wouldn't allow for the chakra to flow through the entire seal and fizzled out as quickly as if formed, back to the drawing board he started again and after some alterations he tried again and this time the seal managed to full form from its twelve-array pattern base but was still to unstable to after fully forming dispersed like the previous one did.

"If I swap these three around to here, and that one to right over there then maybe the stability of the inscription array will be better..." Holding his hand palm up the boy began to form the seals first in his mind, combining them in his thoughts as chakra circulated through his body. Then after the entire seal was formed into one complex looking pattern, he brought it to life as the chakra flowed through his palm and into the air just above head height. His eyes carefully observing the patterns forming into one large inscription that managed to activate. "It worked?" Ziv was boy elated and confused, but in a moment, he was shocked as a pair of chakra tentacles sprouted from the seal and quickly bound him in place as he fell out of his chair into the floor unable to move as he struggled to fight back. "You've got to be kidding me!"

Charge Fuuinjutsu • Binding Tentacles

Prerequisite: *Charge Fuuinjutsu • Air Seal
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will create a fuuin seal in the air with raw chakra within sixty meters of themselves. This seal is capable of lasting for up to five posts. Once activated ten tentacles of raw chakra will grow from the seal at a speed and strength of [Control], out to sixty meters in length. These tentacles seek to bind any targets in front of the seal, then attempt to crush as they are constricted. Once something is caught by the tentacles they will be absorbed back towards the actual seal.

Luckily, the boy hadn't poured to much of his chakra into the seal and so the tentacles didn't have a crazy amount of crushing strength as they bound him in midair, having pulled him in closer to the seal after his capture. 'At least I'm not hurt.' He could only mumble in his thoughts at the current situation that he found himself in, if it had been someone else the young kid would without a doubt be laughing, perhaps even rolling on the floor but with things on the other foot he could only sigh. After a few moments the chakra within the seal that had been powering it finally was used up and the chakra tentacles and seal broke apart into tiny pieces that seemed to just evaporate into the air of the dim room. "I guess that was a... success?" Though Ziv had been ensnared by his own seal, it was a rather unexpected result and who wouldn't have been caught off guard...luckily it hadn't been too strong of a seal, and it was a learning point for him that he'd need to be more careful in the future when he experimented with inscription arrays as they could be dangerous to even the creator, it appeared.

"I should put this one aside for now." After a moment of consideration, the youth set back down at his desk and made some notes on the adjacent blank page to the one he had drawn the working seal formula into and then set back in his chair, lifting his head back to stare at the ceiling before closing his eyes for moment. Who knew the adventure into learning about inscription arrays held such potential danger? But the reaction of the combination of seals also sparked a line of thought within his mind as within his thoughts a pair of seals formed. The first was the large storage seal and the latter was the strike seal. These two seals had four seals in common, so one might say they had a sort of base already formed between them, but what would happen if he tried to combine the two seals using the four common array patters inside as the center base and then merging the other remaining five seals together? Thanks to the experimentation of the other seals, he'd been crafting tonight, the boy was already gathering and taking notes of which seals merged best with others, and which ones helped to stability the foundation of a seal which also led to the stability of the chakra flow through out it.

Within his mind, the boy came up with three different interpretations of what the seal could be, perhaps none of them would actually work when he tested it or perhaps, just perhaps, one might work. It was all really trial and error for him as it was for any other beginner Array apprentice. "Nothing left but to put the experiment to the test." Like any good student or scientist, what he needed the most was data and he turned in his chair to face the wall holding out both hands as he started to mold chakra into his palms. The image of the first seal he'd created began to form and as it was almost finished the instability of the chakra flow broke it apart causing for it to end up just being a waste of chakra. Next, he tried the second one and as it began to form the young kid could feel that this one felt better but the seal was unable to form completely, not due to the seal itself but the boy's own chakra. "I need to use more chakra..." Nodding to himself the boy started to channel his chakra again as a thin blue outline could be seen around his body as it flowed down into his hand and then into the air in front of both palms. Swirling together as it flattened out into a complex looking fuuin pattern which expanded out covering several meters, appearing to have some strength and be very stable. It was in that moment that he realized something..."I need someone to help me test this!" Canceling his chakra and the seal Ziv jumped up from his seat and ran to the door, disappearing out of it to find one of his friends to help.

Prerequisite: *Charge Fuuinjutsu • Air Seal
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will create a fuuin seal in the air with raw chakra within sixty meters of themselves, the seal expanding up to sixty meters in diameter. This seal form with a speed and strength equal to [Control], drawing in ninjutsu techniques or group of projectiles that strike it with a strength equal to the user's [Control] absorbing up to [Control] Strength into the seal. Then upon the user's will, if the seal was not destroyed, sending back out what was absorbed into the seal, shooting the attack back in whichever direction the seal is pointed. The seal can last for up to five posts.
