[Mission] Don't stop never give up!

Post by Trusted Grader » Wed May 29, 2013 12:57 pm

Team 8 had been assigned to escort a rich mans daughter from one village to another, they would have to travel from Konoha to another village where they are supposed to meet with one of the generals. From there they would get more information, it was still early so if they hurried then they could reach the village before sunset. They had not given that much information about why she would need a ninja escort, but all they told the team was that they had to complete the mission! Failure is not an option.

"You guys do know where you are supposed to go right? So you do not get lost in this gigantic forest of ours. . Normally a Anbu such as me would not talk to you but as the file says it is the utmost important that you succeed! I will be your shadow if something goes wrong but i trust that it wont. Head west! "

A single anbu member stood on top of a building next to the giant gate, directly behind the team. He nodded then vanished, leaving team 8 with his last words.

"Until next time!"

Takeo had gathered at the gates of Konoha precisely on time. He was the Sensei of the team but with an Anbu shadowing them on the mission he would act as though he was constantly being scrutinized. He was left with an uneasy feeling in his gut knowing that he was being watched over, “Just what kind of resistance is the village expecting?”, he pondered. No matter, he would remain constantly vigilant and ensure not only their targets safety but also that of his genin subordinates.

Once the two boys in question had gathered in front of him he would look them over, his visage completely serious and professional, betraying no sign of the lightheartedness that his students had glimpsed at in previous encounters. “Yoru, you convinced me to let you two come on this mission so don’t let me down. Remember our formations and let’s keep this professional and get the job done right”, he instructed after the Anbu member had disappeared into the shadows. He had faith in his students but nonetheless he was apprehensive about how they would fare in a real world combat scenario. He had briefed them on the basics of the mission earlier that day and they had passed his combat assessment two days prior. He hoped that would be enough.

[Mission] Don't stop never give up!

Post by beaverboy125 » Thu May 30, 2013 5:11 pm

As Kaen lightly jogged to the meeting spot, his mind wandered to the difficulty of the mission ahead of them. It seemed strange to assign a mission as a C-rank if an ANBU was going to get involved. Unless that's the reason! Maybe having an ANBU watch over us is what makes the mission less dangerous.

He thoughts then moved on to the backpack he was carrying. Two spare sets of clothes, one set on night clothes, 3 bottles of aojiru, 30 spare shuriken, 5 extra smoke bombs, 4 kunai, and a couple explosive tags his father let him buy. The weapons, of course, were all packed away safely and carefully, so to not set them off. Kaen sighed a bit as he hefted his slipping pack up. He really need to get some storage seals. Maybe Yoru or Takeo will know a thing or two.

Kaen slowed down to a walk as he neared the gates, then silently made a one handed seal as he let out a short-range chakra pulse. So far, only Takeo and the ANBU were here. After the ANBU departed, Kaen turned to his sensei. "So then, where's the lady we'll be escorting?"

Yoru gathered around the large gates of Konoha with his team mates, there was an eerie silence that filled the air. He stared up at the Anbu in awe, his uniform and whole demeanour seemed incredibly cool to him. Offering a thumbs up to the Anbu as he disappeared, shivers ran down the back of his neck “God he is cool.” He said like a child who’d just met his hero.

Yoru’s attention quickly turned back to Takeo “Of course sensei, Ill be nothing but serious.” This was sort of a lie, Yoru had intended on being very serious throughout the mission but he knew he’d be cracking jokes all the way there “But, I can’t be responsible for my actions if the lady we are escorting can’t resist me.” He began to mockingly flex what little muscle he had, raising his eyebrows rather rapidly “Who could blame her huh?” A cheeky smile poured across his face.

The Sun was rather low in the sky it seemed odd they were meeting at such a late time “Sensei, wouldn’t it of being better if we travelled first thing in the morning rather than in the late afternoon?” he queried with curiosity.

The group would be able to leave, following the road to the next village. Whether or not they arrived before sundown was up to how rambunctious the students were, and how their sensei handled them. They would not encounter any problems on the road, however. It seemed they had a walk of a couple of hours ahead of them, which could be used for conversation.

(As a note, beaver, you're only allowed to carry those weapons which you listed in your inventory. The rest you mentioned don't exist.)

Takeo narrowed his eyes slightly at Yoru’s remark about the Anbu member. A tinge of jealousy pricked his being, he had worked in an Anbu-like squad for the previous three years before deciding to step off the front lines and train a team of Genin instead. Being on such an elite squad Takeo of course had often hoped to be called up to participate in the elite group of the Anbu but alas that privilege had never been awarded to him.

He allowed a barely noticeable smirk at the thought of Yoru wooing the woman they were deemed to protect. “Better her than my sister”, he mused. Then he addressed Kaen’s question. “We’re to rendezvous at a nearby village where we will be directed to her”, he explained. “It will take several hours to get the village. If we left in the morning we wouldn’t be there until afternoon and thus we would be caught on the road throughout the night during the actual escort. This way we can get to the village by nightfall and begin the actual escort early tomorrow morning.”

At least that was the best reasoning that he could come up with. Perhaps there would be a change in plans but as of now that seemed a suitable course of action. “Now, Let’s get moving”, he instructed, starting off in a light run, though he would slow his pace as necessary as to not stray too far from his students.

Kaen nodded as Takeo explained their reasons for arriving in the afternoon. He took a swig of aojiru as he began running behind his sensei. He looked towards his sensei. "Hey sensei, somethings been bothering me about this mission." He ran a little faster so he could talk side by side with Takeo. He gestured back towards the villlage. "What was with the ANBU guy back there?"

Pausing for a moment, Kaen decided to elaborate. "I mean, this is just a C-rank mission. Why is the ANBU coming?" He then raised his finger in a sort of EUREKA! pose. "Or is that why this mission is a C-rank to begin with? Because we'll have ANBU watching over us?"

Yoru’s eyes widened “Several hours, I do hope you’re kidding Takeo!” there was one ting Yoru defiantly was and that was lazy, sure he pushed himself hard when it came to training. But monotonous walking was not for him and he’d soon get bored “Takeo, I do hope we get to sleep when we arrive I’m tired already!” Yoru truly did love his bed. Tilting his head to the side, he gazed up and began dreaming of climbing in a nice large warm bed and settling in for the night. The mission hadn’t even begun and he was ready for bed.

His attention turned to Kaen, Yoru hadn’t thought of why there was an Anbu there just that he was pretty damn cool “Yes, maybe your right Kaen!” he yelled excitedly “Perhaps this is a test and we’ll be invited to become anbu.” Yoru clasped his hand over his face creating a make shift anbu mask “Id need a cool code name, what about awesomedude or kickasssexyguy!” he yelled loudly, bouncing around then dropping down and pretending to sneak around.

He looked up at Takeo hopefully “Is that why sensei, is it?” he said with glee. It truly was odd how young Yoru seemed sometimes he was seventeen but the way he acted he could easily be confused with someone much younger.

But then something changed all of a sudden, as soon as Takeo muttered the words “Now, Let’s get moving he snapped up in to postion, his brow narrowed and his jaw clenched. He had completely changed, dropping his childish demnour to a much more serious attitude “Let’s go.” He said coolly, resting his hands on the back of his head leaving the gates of Konoha following the road.

It wasn't any of that. It was mostly just a chance to get the Genin to stretch their legs and put a couple of people where extra people were needed. But, the importance of the mission and the potential for failure did designate this as a C-rank mission. The ANBU was there to help them with something, but that would be revealed at a later date.

For now, the team was expected to get to the designated village, and that was all. THey would reach the outpost at the end of this posting cycle.

[Mission] Don't stop never give up!

He ignored Yoru’s tactics, the boy was clearly excited for his first mission outside of the walls of Konoha. If he hadn’t have spent the previous day with the boy he surely would have been worried but now he had begun to understand him. As such he felt confident that after a bit of exercise he would settle down and would become serious when it became necessary.

As they began running towards their destination Kaen spoke up. Through focused blue eyes Takeo observed his other student He seems to have any nerves under control, he observed, And astute as always, that’s a good sign, he noted. “Well originally I was going to do this mission by myself. This could be a two part mission with him having his own objective”, he said seriously.

As they ran Takeo continued to observe his students, making sure that they stopped for breaks or slowed to a reasonable enough pace as to not wear them out. He wasn’t sure if they would have a refractory period upon arriving at their destination so it was best to conserve their energy. He of course also habitually scanned the tree lines and the path ahead of them, ever watchful of danger. Despite all this he managed to make passing conversation and inform his students about the various plants and animals that they encountered along the way. They probably thought the information was trivial and boring but it was something to pass the time and a subject that he held a great deal of knowledge in. “We’re getting close now” he uttered, sometime later, likely after having said that several times in order to appease Yoru. “How’s everyone doing? Not too tired I hope.”

Kaen smiled as Takeo asked for a status report. "Nah, I'm just fine, sir." He then turned away as the contemplated the mission so far. The ANBU was here for reasons unknown, and Takeo was on high alert in case of danger, which may just be his paranoia. If only he had more information. He suddenly looked towards his sensei. "Sir, do we have any info on the client? Such as name, family, or possible enemies. There might be a connection there between this mission and the ANBU."

Team eight made rather quick time, traveling to their destination with haste. Yoru was jumping from tree branch to tree branch while the other two walked across the ground, this was mostly to scout on ahead to check for danger but Yoru also found it enjoyable. He shook his head “Nope, not tired at all!” he said with glee and excitement.

Yoru’s eyes rolled as Kean began badgering on about the girl they were meeting “Stop over thinking it Kaen, do you really think you’ll be able to work out why the Anbu has tagged along?” peering over his shoulder he looked for the Anbu but he was nowhere to be seen “If we needed to know, we’d know.” Kaen was annoying Yoru he seemed to want to analyse everything “Kaen, if you think you can work it out your as stupid as I am.” His nostrils flared slightly with aggression as he continued to leap from branch to branch. Yoru halted in place, there it was the entrance to the village to the west.

Yoru let himself drop from the tree he was perched in, landing down in a kneeling position in front of his team. He gave a thumbs up to Takeo “Were almost there.” He said excitedly as the group continued to trek towards the entrance.

No real information would have been given about the client, except that the girl was related to a wealthy business owner and that she was expected to be married soon. Supposedly, the marriage was being conducted in part to help a business merger. That was about all they knew for now.

After an hour or so of chat and travel, they would arrive at the village just shy of sunset. The ANBU would still be nowhere to be seen. They were expected, however. Some official-looking man met them at the gate, welcoming them heartily and introducing himself.

"Welcome, shinobi! My name is Toriyonju, Kenta, and I'd like to welcome you to our quiet little village. We don't have much at stake in your goal here, but you're welcome to stay for the night! We've got a hotel that we're putting you up in--free of charge, of course--and the lovely lady you're being charged with watching will be in the room beside you."

The man would be open to questions as he gestured them to follow him, and led them to their hotel where they would be staying the night. It would certainly beat the hell out o the cold hard ground for which they normally had to settle on overnight missions.

Takeo naturally took the lead position as the group approached the gates. He gave his students a serious look, conveying the importance of good behaviour. He didn’t want to inflict a bad impression upon the client and arouse any problems before the escort was to begin. He then turned his attention to the man whom had waited to greet them. “A pleasure to meet you, Natsuki Takeo; Special Jounin” he introduced. He waved his hand towards the Genin, “And these are my students; Ashi Kaen and Aizawa Yoru. We thank you for your hospitality and for the accommodations” He completed the formalities with a polite bow. In truth he disdained these false greetings and sugared speeches but it was a necessary pleasantry and a precautionary measure. It was unwise to upset those who prepare your food and provide you succor.

As they walked Takeo deemed it an appropriate time to fill in the situation. “If you don’t mind me asking Mr.Toriyonju, what is your position here and are you to be our contact for our mission?” he didn’t want to divulge too much information in case this man was simply sent to guide the shinobi to the hotel; though he also didn’t want to offend the man in case he was someone of stature, or perhaps even the father of the woman they were to escort. He gave his students a nod of approval, granting them permission to ask their own questions.

Kaen nodded his head when introduced by Takeo. Time for business face he thought as he put on a look of hard determination. This was a lesson from his previous sensei. Always have an air of confidence around a client, even when you're nervous. It makes them more comfortable, like you know what you're doing, even when you don't.

Kaen tuned back into the conversation when the questions started being asked. This was important, and required one's full attention. The client's mannerisms and way of speaking were both indicators of personality, and the danger of the mission. It would also be useful to observe the client in case they are kidnapped and replaced by an imposter. Again, a lesson from his old sensei.

It suddenly occurred to Kaen that Yoru might not be as observant as Kaen. While he did want to remind Yoru to pay attention, he also didn't want to insult his teammates intelligence. So, instead of a verbal cue, Kaen sent Yoru a quick glance that he hoped conveyed the message, Pay attention.

Yoru fell to the right hand side of his sensei, Takeo had picked a middle position to lead the group, not arguing with this he was happy to walk at the side. They were greeted by a man named Kenta, Yoru was about to offer his hand and his name but Takeo performed the introductions.

He noticed Kaen doing some odd for of gesture, he really didn’t have a clue what he was trying to convey. He seemed to be jerking his head towards the man, did Kaen find him suspicious or something strange about his clothes? Yoru certainly wasn’t a mind reader and barley knew Kaen, he certainly didn’t know how his facial expressions meant.

Nevertheless he shrugged of Kaens weird behaviour and carried on listening, as he said a free hotel Yoru smiled widely he was rather excited. When Takeo nodded to suggest asking questions Yoru jumped straight in at the chance “Does the hotel have a….” he was about to say pool, but he knew Takeo would kill him, he had to think of something else other than pool quickly “Good amount of security?” He asked with interest “Obviously there is some element of danger or we wouldn’t of being called.” Yoru nodded in delight with what he thought was a rather good save Nice one Yoru he thought to himself as the continued to walk to the hotel.

Lots of questions from them. Kenta smiled jovially as he led them and said "Oh, no, not at all! I just happen to run this fine little village, that's all! I make it my business to meet every shinobi that comes and goes. You ninja stand a lot to gain from getting to know our little town, after all!" That wasn't exactly the case, but the mayor saw no reason to let the shinobi on to small town politics: When any attack you could muster would get you killed, it was good to make friends with the people holding weapons.

"Any way, the lovely lady you'll be guarding is named Biten. She, like you, is just stopping here to complete a journey tomorrow. I don't really know the situation, except that everything happening is perfectly legal, and also that she doesn't seem too happy about it. She's apparently quite the spirited young girl!"

They were brought to the hotel, and the mayor would keep up that jovial smile. "If you've got no more questions for me, I'd best be on my way! Babies to kiss and lords to please and all that. Oh! You're on the fourth floor, right beside her room!"

The hotel, assuming they let him leave and turned to their business, looked to be five or six stories tall. As they went in, there would be a pretty looking girl behind the desk, noting their headbands and telling them that she was expecting the group. A bellhop sort of person, a young boy who couldn't be more than 12, stepped forward as she offered to carry their luggage upstairs for them if they had any, and handed Takeo the key to their room.

Takeo listened intently, nodding where applicable and acting friendly enough. Kenta seemed a friendly and accommodating man but Takeo knew better than to trust him fully. He was a businessman after all and was the leader of the village. Clearly he had an agenda and likely knew more than he let on. Still, he didn’t seem particularly untrustworthy either, simply the type of man to be wary around.

It made him uncomfortable however to still not have any concrete details as to why the woman needed an escort and what the schedule or destination was. He certainly wouldn’t be sleeping well tonight, though perhaps he would be able to fill in the situation further once he met this Biten woman for himself. It was clear that the Mayor wasn’t directly involved in the escort, at least he wasn’t supposed to be and thus Takeo stifled his concerns for now. “Thank you for your time”, he responded politely as Kenta made way to depart.

Takeo smiled cordially at the girl at the desk, he walked over to the desk and leaned against the counter, “If it’s not too much trouble could I get a list of all the people staying on the 4th floor and which rooms they are staying in?”, he spoke with a confidence that implied that asking was simply a courtesy. He had some degree of authority after all and had been personally escorted to the hotel by the mayor of the village. Assuming he got the information he required he would receive the key and place it in his pocked before ascending the stairs to the 4th floor. From there he would approach the room Biten was staying in and knock sharply three times.

Kaen crossed his arms as he continued listening. This Biten woman could cause a problem... he thought. If she was unwilling, that could make her rebellious. That would make things far more difficult. Of course, I could just be over thinking things again... He then directed his attention to the man before them, who seemed friendly enough. Why would he want to meet every ninja that comes through? Surely he has better things to do. Kaen then proceeded to quietly follow Takeo-sensei as they entered the hotel.

Yoru’s eyes narrowed in suspicion as Kenta said there wasn’t any danger, he found this hard to believe. He looked at Takeo, his eyes were full of concern as if to say he didn’t trust this man, they headed towards the hotel. As the young boy grabbed there bags Yoru took them from him “Its fine, we can manage.” Placing a few Ryo in to the boys hand.

Throwing Kaens bag to him, he kept hold of Takeos as Yoru hadn’t brought any luggage of his own he didn’t have anything to carry, he hadn’t even brought fresh clothes for tomorrow. They made there way up to the stairs, he pushed open the door to their room and shoved the bag in “Put it down with that one Kaen.” Coming back out of the room, he stood next to the door to Bitens room as Takeo wrapped his knuckles on the door “Something smells fishy to me Sensei, I don’t trust that man at all.” He said this rather firmly and somewhat aggressively.

Kenta hadn't meant that there was no danger; his saying "no" was to say he wasn't their contact. But misunderstandings among individuals happened, and that was okay. No harm done so long as the student didn't act rashly towards Kenta.

Making their way up to the fourth floor, where their client's daughter would be found, the hotel would seem fairly secure. The halls, at least, were very nicely enclosed. If anybody wanted to get through them, they'd have to walk through and risk oncoming fire from the client's guardians.

Finding themselves on the fourth floor, they would see a man standing in front of a closed door and hear all manner of ruckus from behind it. Crashing and banging and perhaps the breaking of some glass. The man stood directly in front of the door, lighting a cigarette as his eyes darted towards the group without looking up. "Are, there you are. You've got some pretty lively cargo this time, heh-heh." He was clearly not a ninja, but he did seem to have the same kind of armor vest that was worn by jounin. He was a muscular kind of thick and took a long drag of his cigarette. "Name's Retu. I'm your contact, I suppose. There's another one in the room with the cargo, but we'd both tell you the same thing any way."

A rather loud crash of glass and Retu sighed, white smoke escaping his lips and taking interesting and complex shapes. "So what have they told you about this girl?"

Takeo naturally scanned the hallways, taking note of the layout and how many rooms there were. He was pleased to finally be met with a contact though the man before him was far from idea. It irked him to see him where a Chunin vest when clearly he wasn't a shinobi, Mercenary he surmised, immediately distrustful of such a lowlife. Mercenaries cared for one thing and one thing only; money. They would easily betray their comrades or their employees if the price was to their liking. He could have been wrong about the man but even if he was some involved with the girls father, perhaps part of some illegitimate business activities he wasn't the sort of man Takeo would put any trust in. "We were told to escort Biten to a wedding, the destination as of yet has not been revealed to us." he answered tersely, he hoped they would finally be filled in on some details, typically the more you were kept in the dark about the nature of a mission the more dangerous and shady it was.

Kaen listened eagerly and observed Retu's behavior. The man was clearly a mercenary, that much was certain, but the question was if he was an honest mercenary. If not, there could be a few problems. However, if he did his job right, he could be a potential asset to the mission. He could see Takeo's distrust for the man, possibly from past experiences. Also, the man had a chunin vest. How? Did he meet a chunin, or did he just pick it off a body? Maybe killed a chunin? Kaen simply thought over this as the others talked.

Yoru walked back out of the room, they were greated by a rather muscular man who went by the name of Retu. His eyes narrowed as he called the girl “Cargo” he didn’t agree with this, she was a person it wasn’t as though she was an object. It was apparent he was a mercenary for hire, his nostrils flared in disgust. He had an instant disliking for this man “Can we meet Biten, it would be nice to make some introductions before we sleep.”

He hoped he wasn’t speaking out of turn, but it seemed necessary to get the formalities and introductions out of the way. It dawned on him that no one had actually introduced themselves “I’m Yoru, this is Kean & this is Takeo.” He gestured towards each of them as he said there names. He bit the bottom of his lip hoping they could meet her.

The mercenary was well-read by the group. Another drag, and then, girl's name is Makebare, Onami. She's the daughter of some business exec or another. She's getting married off in Tenzaku Town so pops can cement some merger or whatever. Trouble is, a rival company don't want to see our cargo married off. It'd kill their business, so they might be looking to kill the girl. We don't know if they've actually hired anyone, but the paycheck says it's better safe than sorry."

He let himself take two more breaths. First of clean air, then from the cigarette, finishing it off. "Adding to the problem, the cargo's not happy about the arrangements. Hence the little hissy fit." As he finished the sentence, a particularly loud crash was heard. Retu sighed. "She'll run out of things to break eventually."

He heard the introductions but ignored them. Names were pointless when you were a mercenary. The next person you had to kill might be the one whose name you learned.[/color]

Takeo narrowed his eyes slightly upon hearing the girls name. It was different from the one the mayor had given them, whether this was a simple misunderstanding or done in order to hide her true identity however he was uncertain of. His head tilted in the slightest sign of a nod as the details were finally fleshed out. The reason for the wedding and the need for protection seemed plausible enough. It irked him to hear the woman referred to as cargo but he knew better than to make a scene of it. He didn't enjoy working with mercenaries and it went without saying that they wouldn't get along under normal circumstances; these people weren't the type to make friends with however, they were a utility to be used. "What time are we leaving at? And are we taking over from here or are you two accompanying us with the escort?" he asked, reluctantly having to defer to the mercenary for the time being. He would rather not work with mercenaries if he didn't have to, but if he did he would make sure to keep his eye on them and limit their interactions with Onami.

Kaen winced as she heard things break in the other room. "Um, how often does she have these fits?" An uncooperative escort is the worst kind. They would probably have to watch her even closer. And that duty would probably land upon...him. The sensor ninja. He sighed inwardly. Though he wasn't certain, it seemed the most strategically sound in his mind.

Yoru’s brow raised in confusion “Her name is Makebare, Onami?” this wasn’t right he was sure the girls name was Biten “We got told her name was Biten by the gentleman who greeted us.” He listened with interest as he gave them more information “If theirs a chance of assassination I think we should take it in turns to sleep sensei, I’m sure these.” He paused for a moment “Mercenaries are very skilled, but I’d like it if one of us stayed with her at all times.”

He thought it was odd that Retu ignored there introductions, but he gave them his name. He shrugged it off, these mercenary types were odd. It was those they were soldiers without a country to protect and just went from pay cheque to pay cheque.

"Biten? Sounds about right" Retu smirked between another puff of his cigarette. "We've been passing around fake names for as long as we've been travelling with her. The plan was to throw of our supposed pursuers as much as we can while remaining non-violent, at least until we met you guys. Me and my associate can fight, but we have to suppose these people aren't quite the normal thugs you would meet on the road." Resting a hand on the sword hanging at his belt Retu held his cigarette in his mouth for a moment before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a piece of paper. Passing it to Takeo through another puff of smoke he indicated for the man to unroll it. It was a map, large and sprawling but with a clear red X indicating what could only be the target. "We're here" Retu began, pointing to one of the villages a good distance from the large red X. "It shouldn't be a long journey, five days at best, but you'll have to leave in the morning to keep ahead. So bright and early tomorrow" he added, nodding towards Takeo with the vague assumption that answered his question.

"And in terms of the fits. . . let's just say that pursuers aren't the only ones you should be looking out for."
With a muted chuckle through another breath of smoke Retu glanced back at the door before another loud thud echoed into the hall way. Suddenly the door swung open and a younger looking mercenary stumbled into the hall. He was wearing similar clothes to Retu, only clean shaven and noticeably smaller in stature. He looked terrified and struggling for words he turned to his partner before finding his voice. "We have a problem" he spluttered, indicating to the empty sheathe at his belt. The man stumbled back before carefully swinging the door open into the chaos inside. "Oh shit. . ." Retu sighed, dropping the cigarette before stamping it out and reaching for his own weapon. "Seems this fit might not be so short lived after all."

Edging forwards Retu made his way into the hotel room, shattered glass and splintered wood littering the floor as he kept a hand tight around the handle of his weapon. The sheets on the bed were ripped up, the curtains just the same and standing in the centre of the room was an elegantly dressed woman, katana held perfectly in hand. Her robes were a bright red, a lighter shade of the dark red hair escaping down her back. Her expression was set into a frown and locked onto the new guests she now noticed at the door. She was young and beautiful, even with her gaze set in such a frown, but there was one thing you could instantly tell about her: This woman was no bride and it would be one hell of a task to convince her otherwise. "Retu, you shall let me pass" she ordered, stepping carefully as she kept her sword ready and her stance perfect. "I am Makebare Onami, daughter of the Red Hawk and I shall not be married off for my father's gain." Retu watched her carefully, steadily drawing his weapon as he took a step back.

"Shinobi?" he began, "her swordsman ship is better than mine and in an open setting like this I won't be able to stop her without taking causing too many scars. I'll need your help." It pained him to ask a bunch of assassins for aid but he had little choice. As a mercenary he was renowned for his use of the surrounding, and unfortunately that was something Onami was very aware of. She had made good work of the setting so it seemed she was thinking of him before making her move for the weapon. "You shall let me pass" she repeated almost spitting out the words as she refused to look away. "You know I won't hold back. . ."

Takeo nodded in affirmation to Yoru's suggestions. They were obvious precautions to take though he was glad that Yoru had come to that conclusion himself. It was a good sign that the boy was in fact competent enough for this sort of task. The bearded man nodded again in response to the mercenaries explanation. "That's what I figured" he reflected, "At least for mercenaries they seem competent enough", he mused as he accepted the map in silence. His eyes scanned over the terrain of the map, he was familiar with most of the area in Fire country, especially this close to Konoha. A five day Journey was longer than he had anticipated, he was comfortable travelling or such a duration and had embarked on lengthier missions on several occasions. The flicker of apprehension he felt at the mention of the duration however was not due to any inexperience on his part but rather that of his students. They would be tested hard to remain vigilant for such a duration; he had to have faith in them however, doubting his comrades would put everyone at risk.

His attention perked when Retu said 'you'll' rather than 'we'll' though his gaze remained fixed on the map for several moments longer, memorizing the route and picking up on landmarks and possible course alterations. When the door swung open Takeo neatly folded the map and placed it in his hip pouch. There would be time to go over it further with his students later that night. The lithe young secondary mercenary hadn't been what Takeo had expected. He was clearly far less experienced than Retu and seemed somewhat out of place. At first Takeo deemed him an utter fool, instantly noticing the empty scabbard and surmising that the woman, whom he had doubted was much of a fighter had managed to seize.

It would certainly be an inconvenience and he was glad that the man wasn't accompanying them but other than those thoughts Takeo didn't feel any particular concern about the situation. That is, not until he entered the room, his eyes immediately fell upon the woman, foremost noticing her intimidating and flawless stance. Naturally he scanned his surroundings next, noticing the damage without taking his eyes completely off of the woman before him. He had instantly assessed that she was not someone to be taken lightly. He knew there would be no point in attempting to talk down a woman of her apparent brashness. Moreover he noted the title she gave her father, "Red Hawk? He's likely part of some sort gang or corrupt organization then", he surmised, also realizing that this gave credence to the theory that Onami would respect power over diplomacy.

He simply nodded calmly when Retu asked for assistance, Takeo was already forming hand seals, "Yeah, we've got this" he declared confidently. He nodded to Yoru, giving him the go-ahead to perform the capture technique that he had taught the boy. A moment later Takeo's seals had been completed and an earthen armour began to envelop his body, also granting him with a sword-like extension emerging from each of his forearms. He channeled chakra to his feet in preparation for Yoru's technique and then he charged forward in an impressive burst of speed, aiming to fake a direct charge at the woman but then sidestepping to her right(his left) and twisting his body to face her as his right arm moved in a circling motion in an attempt to catch her sword and deflect it away from him to his right. Meanwhile his left arm rose defensively, ready to act if necessary.

Kaen stayed back as his sensei rushed forward toward Onami. Well, I'm useless here. Sensei is already taking Onami, and Yoru can probably use his capture technique. Me? I have... exploding clones, fire, shadow shuriken, and the grab and twist... The last one probably not appropriate here. After all, this lady appears as though she knows how to use this sword, and since we need her alive, I don't believe it's wise for me to go after her. He turned to Yoru before saying, "Hey, I'm gonna sit this one out. Have fun."

Yoru nodded with interest as Retu began to explain the mix up with the names, perhaps these mercenaries were more savvy than he originally thought they were. It seemed a good idea to pass on fake names, but it did cause some confusion. He stared at the map taking in the information, he pointed to Kaen “Oi, give this a look you’re the clever one here maybe you can help navigate.” This probably would be there best bet, Kaen certainly was the brains of the group.

Biting down on his bottom lip he tried not to laugh, was this hardened mercenary really afraid of this young woman she looked harmless. Though that didn’t mean much, Yoru didn’t look particularly tough but he sure packed a punch when needed too. He looked at as Takeo nodded to him, Yoru had no idea what this nod meant as he wasn’t physic but he had a good idea. It puzzled him why his sensei didn’t simply do the jutsu himself, but nevertheless Yoru obliged.

“I’m terribly sorry about this, miss.” Yoru began to focus suiton chakra towards his chest he felt a could damp sensation pour through him his hands pushed together weaving a rapid flurry of hand seals. His cheeks bulged up as a liquid seemed to be trying to break free, he spat the sticky liquid on Onamis legs hopefully keeping her in place.

The user forms two hand seals then spits out high-viscosity, chakra infused water, aimed at a surface of wide scope. This is a stream of sticky liquid which can be used to form an adhesive trap that can inhibit a person's mobility. One can effectively reduce their enemy's area of activity with this technique, and has the effect of being able to take complete control over the battlefield. The normal scope of this technique is normally just a few metres, but if prepared, it is also possible to make an entire pond of starch syrup. Being caught in the technique can be avoided by channeling chakra to one's feet allowing one to walk upon it uninhibited, beforehand. The stream travels at a speed of 6 and requires 5 strength in order to break free of once trapped.

Onami only took notice of her new opponents when Takeo stepped forwards and began to form his seals. Noticing the headband she went more noticeably on edge, but very clearly never thought about backing down. Instead the grip on her blade tightened and her knees bent a little more to accommodate a more defensive stance. "Shinobi?" she mumbled, looking at each of the three in turn. "My father's idea?" she added, glancing back at Retu for only a second. She seemed to mouth a quick curse before Takeo's seals took effect and the armour began to form around him. Even this didn't seem to surprise her. The one thing that got her attention was the sudden charge as she instantly cut up at him. He aimed to disarm her but with a sweeping attack Onami stepped back and avoided the move altogether. But with her attention so focused on the blades of stone the sudden Suiton technique came as a surprise.

Switching around she barely managed to sweep around her blade before feeling it cut into the technique. Spinning on her heel had cut the jutsu clean in half but now half of it collapsed over her left leg while the other weighed down her blade. Trying to switch her stance she found herself unable to move before readjusting her weapon. The blade was dull and useless from the jutsu but with a quick glance at it and a determined look back at her opponents it was apparent she wasn't going to give in. "Why are you trying to stop me?!" she began quickly, almost to herself as she tried to reposition herself just enough so the sludge wouldn't matter. But it was when she looked down for a second that another flash intercepted her and forced her blade up.

Retu had ran in and now had one hand against the blade and a fist firmly lodged in her stomach. Crumbling into his arms Onami dropped the ruined weapon as she lost consciousness. "Bloody hell" Retu growled, glancing at his inexperienced partner who was still standing at the door. The man sheepishly crept into the room before picking up his blade, nervously glancing at Yoru as he accepted the outcome. "Let's just hope she stays asleep until tomorrow" Retu continued angrily, ushering for his partner to take a hold of her before walking back to the door. The man lay her down before nervously prodding at the goo but Retu was already out of the room and ushering for Takeo to follow him. "All her other stuff is in the room next door, I’m sure you'll be delighted to know that most of her 'personal affects' are just as problematic as she is herself. Especially that god damn nagatana!"

Retu explained the rest of the plan to Takeo after that. It was relatively simple, get from A to B with whatever methods you could. They had supplied a carriage and horse for Onami which was set up in the stables around the back of the hotel. It was the way they had transported her this far and was a good help when trying to transport someone who was hell bent on running away. Chances were she wouldn’t be able to keep up with the Shinobi either, but it was up to them whether they used it. Before too long Retu and his partner took their leave while Takeo and his team were left with the unconscious Onami. What they planned to do next was up to them, but after a long day of travelling and the sudden burst of action from the girl no one would begrudge them a night in a soft bed.

Takeo smirked when the plan worked as expected. She had taken the bait and had been preoccupied by him, the immediate treat and thus was caught off guard by the syrup field. That was why he hadn't used the technique, someone needed to close with her and keep her distracted and he was best suite for that task. He could have easily disarmed and restrained the woman from there but Retu intervened, doing so in a more rough manner than Takeo would have. "It's our job to keep you safe, we can't have you running off on you own" he answered the woman as Retu subdued her. He frowned at he manner the mercenary chose, knowing that his words coupled with Retu's actions painted a contrasting picture. He was glad that they would be rid of the uncouth man soon enough.

Takeo listened to the rest of Retu's words and then formed a set of seals, creating an incredibly durable rope of chakra which he used to bind Okami's wrists behind her back and tie her to the bedpost before gently placing her on the mattress. Once that was done he briefly left to inspect the carriage and to watch the mercenaries as they left the premises, leaving the Genin to keep an eye on the bound and unconscious woman for few minutes. Upon returning he formed another set of seals, conjuring an earth clone who took position outside of the door. "Once on the road we'll take turns keeping watch, switching every 2 hours for now though my clone should be sufficient though you're each welcome to tae shifts if you wish." Takeo himself would wake every so often to re-new his chakra rope and check on the status of his clone.

A supplementary technique used to create a rope of chakra, this technique begins with a short set of hand seals. Once these have been completed, the user will hold their arms apart and form the rope between them. The rope can be variable lengths to a max of 3 meters in length. It is highly resistant to cutting by any normal object and can resist weak strength techniques quite well. The rope, while resilient, does not provide any defense and finds its use in tying up people or animals, as rope usually does. The rope lasts for a time equal to the user's stamina stat (to a maximum of 7).

*[Earth Element • Earth Clone]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals and flooding the ground around them with chakra, the user will cause a clone to materialize out of the ground. The clone is made of rock, and is quite strong and durable, but can only move within a quarter mile of the user. The clone is only able to use taijutsu attacks, and has the following stats: 1 Taijutsu, 4 Stamina, 2 Strength, and 1 Speed.

[Mission] Don't stop never give up!

Kaen rolled his eyes as the mercenary, Retu, punched Onami in the gut. "Classy..." he muttered. Honestly, why did he feel the need to even come in. They had it under control. Unless he's trying to make it look like he's tougher than he looks, but whatever. When Takeo told them of their shifts, Kaen frowned. "Sensei, wouldn't it make more sense if I stayed up later and you my sensing abilities? There would be less of a chance of someone sneaking up on us."

Yoru sighed as Onami was punched, these mercenary types really didn’t care and it was even more apparent now. He placed his hands together weaving a single seal, taking control of the sticky water pulling it away from her simply sliding it under the bed “Lets hope the cleaner doesn’t go rooting under there.” A soft chuckle escaped his lips, eventually the liquid would evaporate but there wasn’t really anywhere else to put it.

Nodding in agreement with Kean “Yeah, let him go on first watch his sensing ability will come in handy.” He felt sorry for Kaen sometimes, it seemed like he was a spare part and didn’t seem to have much to do. He looked up at his sensei and nodded, hoping he would understand that Kaen might feel left out.

“Well I shall let you two argue about it, wake me up when it’s my shift.” Yoru walked out of the hallway and turned into their room, pulling off his shirt so he could be more comfortable and slowly unpeeling the bandage. He clambred into his bed pulling the blanket over himself and blowing out the lamp which lit the room “Night guys!” he yelled from the bedroom, slipping into a deep sleep a loud snoring sound could be heard from the room. Yoru truly was a casual guy but if push came to shove he’d be serious and he’d put the effort in during this mission.
Jutsu usedShow
Glide
D-Ranked Suiton Ninjutsu
This jutsu requires a short set of hand seals to be activated after which it allows the user to manoeuvre water along a surface at a speed of 6 as long as the water is within 15 metres of them. This technique is primarily used to manipulate the Entrapping syrup field jutsu after it has made contact with the ground. The water must remain in contact with the ground and when at full speed can only make arching turns, though when moved slowly the user has a more complete control over the direction and shape of the puddle.

The Next Day "Are we there yet?" Onami groaned from the back of the carriage. The small team had been on the road for half a day now after an uneventful evening, the most interesting part had been Onami waking up and as soon as she had realised she was bound she had quickly gone silent. Of course she continued to glare daggers into her captors since words clearly weren't going to make a difference. Now, lying in the back of the carriage she was looking out at the road and sighing at regular intervals. Sat among the golden gifts and silk clothing intended for her husband she felt completely out of place. The only thing there that had any sort of significance to her was the Nagatana, her Nagatana. Bringing the weapon had been one of the few things her father had allowed. There was the chance it would scare off her husband, but Onami even now remembered the story of one great general who was shocked enough to find out his wife was a warrior like that. They had still loved each other though, even if that was the first time they had met. . .

Growing silent the woman continued to stare back at the road. She was dressed in finer clothes now, the others covered in whatever goop the Shinobi has used. Looking at her more carefully now perhaps the Shinobi would take more notice of how young she was. Just nineteen and being carted off to be married, her mother had been just the same.

The road the Shinboi were taking was long and winding but steadily making its way deeper into the hills the further they travelled. It wasn't busy but there had been a decent amount of traffic coming out of the town and even now it wasn't unheard of for a couple of carriages to pass them. None of them really took any notice of the small caravan, if they did it was only because of the Shinobi's headbands. Honestly, after a good night’s rest it was a bit of a let-down, especially for Onami. Deep down she wished that there would be a bit of action, almost that she would be kidnapped or something. At least that would delay the inevitable, maybe her Knight in shining armour would even appear to save her. . . "Bloody Shinobi. . ." the girl cursed under her breath, just loud enough that her escort almost certainly heard it.

It was getting closer to lunch now, the caravan would have to stop soon enough but as they made their way deeper into the hills the possibilities were growing slimmer and the threat of ambush more dangerous. Of course there was still no proof they were being followed. Maybe they could keep on looking out for caravans but there was no guarantee they'd see a thing. All that was clear was that Onami was getting more and more upset the further they went and a good lunch break would probably do her a lot of good.

Takeo felt his gut churn every time he looked at Onami and he stifled the urge to grimace. He truly felt terrible for having to be so stern with the woman. Every once in a while his eyes would flicker with compassion though he did his best not to let Onami or his students witness his conflicted emotions. He had a duty after all and he had to be strong in front of his students. “You’ll know when we’re there” he replied tersely. It pained him to appear as no better than a mercenary but he didn’t trust his judgment if he let his emotional guard down. There was nobleness in his heart and a desire to do the right thing though a life as a shinobi had hardened him and he understood the need to make difficult decisions and the frequent path of moral ambiguity that a shinobi had to traverse.

Every ounce of his being wanted to defend himself, his students, and his other comrades at the disdainful outlook the woman had for shinobi. He stifled the urge however; his breath would be wasted at the attempt. Words were wind after all, actions were what mattered and right now his actions wouldn’t be able to change her opinion. Takeo surveyed the path and the woman’s attitude, deeming that now would be a good time to take a short adjournment. He brought a hand up, “Ten minute lunch break” he announced. It was in their best interest to take a moment to rest and refuel; Takeo sipped on some water and stretched his limbs before quickly eating an apple before moving on to some rice balls which he followed with more water.
