[Graded]A fishing trip

Post by Hooot » Mon Apr 28, 2014 6:40 am

The sun was high overhead, the sky was clear, and the wind was calm. It was a perfect day to go fishing. Hayate had always loved to go fishing with his father, it was one of the few things they could do together and both enjoy. While Hayate was eating breakfast he glanced outside and saw the weather was perfect, as he ate his rice a big grin came across his face. He told his mom thank you and got out of the room as a quickly as possible. He ran to the shed and got the fishing poles, excited to go with his father. When he walked to the chicken coop his dad wasn’t there, odd he thought, his dad was always feeding the chickens right about now.

He went back inside and asked his mother what was going on, she said his father had left on a trip the day before. Hayate’s heart sunk a little bit he replied meekly “Okay, i’m going to go fishing, bye.” After his mom gave him the usual talk about being safe, don’t talk to strangers, and don’t eat raw fish, which he only did once. He was finally off, he was still excited to go fishing, just slightly taken back that his father wasn’t able to come.

His father has been busy for the past few weeks. He’s trying to workout a contract with some restaurant in Konoha. Hayate wasn’t mad, he knew his family would get a lot of money if it worked out. Since his dad usually came home late, he was going to get him a great big fish and some fresh fruit, for when he gets home. When he was walking down the road a black cat crossed his path. Hayate sighed he isn’t very superstitious so he decided to keep going.

After around thirty minutes he ended up at the river. He sat his stuff down and got to work. After letting out his fishing line he through it into the river. Almost immediately he had a fish, Hayate was really confused. He’d never been good at fishing, his father always was, but never him. When he finally reeled it in, it wasn’t huge, but still pretty big. He laid it on a rock to dry out. He then threw the lane back out, and again he had another fish. Luck was on his side, for the first time ever. He had a huge smile and by the time the sun was overhead he already have four big fish, one for his mom, one for him and two for his dad.

He packed up the fish in his knapsack then went to go get some fruit. His dad’s property had a few fruit trees, but the big lemon tree was always his favorite. They had the juiciest citrus he ever tasted. He climbed up the tree and picked a few of the biggest ones. He knew his parent’s were going to love this. After his mom cooked it of course. He chuckled, because he knew he couldn’t cook. His mom though was the best chef she met. Luckily his mom loved to cook, though he think he’d try and cook it for both of them.

Now he was sure that this wouldn’t be a good idea but his mom was asleep and his dad wouldn’t be home for hours, he then walked into the house. How hard could it be he thought? He took out a big pot and filled with water, like he saw his mother do over a thousand times. He then filled it with rice and put a top on it. He knew how to cut a fish though. He soaked the fish in some cold water to get the scales nice and loose. After letting them get loose he took out a butter knife and begins to cut the scales, but he forgot a cloth so the counter ended up becoming a bloody mess. Oh well he thought he’d clean it up later.

After getting all of the fish meat separated from the bones and scales he heated up a pan and put some oil in the pan. Once it began to sizzle he dropped the fish steaks into the pan. After watching them cook for a minute or two, he checks on the rice. He noticed that it is cooked so he takes it off the stove and drains the rice and water. He then cuts up a few lemon slices and squeezes it into the pan. He smiles “This is going to taste good.”

He starts to wipe the fish blood off the counter. After he finishes wiping off the counter he places it in the sink and places the fish on top of the rice, with a lemon slice on top. It didn’t really look good, but he was sure it tasted just fine. He looked out the door and saw the sun coming down, his dad should be home soon. He decided he should wake up his mom for dinner. His mom rarely slept in but on saturdays when her husband was gone and Hayate was usually doing something she would sleep. He entered her room and found her already awake, reading a book. He didn’t catch the title because when she heard him enter she immediately put it in the drawer by her bed. She then got up and said “Well I guess it’s time I make dinner” she sighed and frowned.

Hayate was excited now to surprise her, when she walked into the kitchen and saw the plates of food she laughed and smiled “Thank you Hayate, you remembered our anniversary?” The first thing that crossed Hayate’s mind was “Nope, not at all, I was just hungry.” but he didn’t say that. Once his mother got seated his father entered the door and yelled from the entrance “I’m home!” His mother walked up to the door and said “Look what Hayate made for us, and anniversary dinner, I didn’t even ask him.” His father smiled and nodded and went to say thank you but Hayate was already packing up his food to go eat in his room, he rathered eat alone, plus it was their anniversary so he was going to leave them alone. He went home and started reading the barrier jutsu scroll that Daisuke gave him earlier that week. He was excited to learn new jutsu, it fit in with his style perfectly. In between reading and eating tid bits of food he finally dozed off still sitting at his desk.
