Phoenix Jutsu

Hayate had already walked to his personal training zone. He had brought fifteen kunai and fifteen shuriken. He was going to learn that jutsu he saw Daisuke do. It was one of the coolest things he had ever seen fireballs and projectiles? How could it get better he thought? Hayate then shook his head he knew if he didn’t start training and stop daydreaming he would never learn the jutsu. So he set down his tools and began.

He had set up a wooden post on the top of the rock nearby. He grabbed a shuriken and threw it at it from five meters. He began to do the hand seals but he wasn’t quick enough, the shuriken had already hit its target. He sighed, he took the shuriken out and stepped back, maybe he just needed more distance. He was now ten meters away and tried again, he threw the shuriken and tried to do the hand seals. He finished the hand seals but had no time to shoot the fireball. He spit the little fireball at the ground and stomped it out near him.

He backed up even more now sitting at twenty meters. He threw a shuriken and he finished the hand seals in time. He shot out the fireball in time but it didn’t connect with the fireball, they hit as two separate entities. It wasn’t bad, but still not the same technique, he needed to hide the projectile inside the fireball. He continued to work at twenty yards for about an hour, he still couldn’t get the timing correct. Every time the fireball and the projectile wouldn’t connect.

He was getting frustrated, it had been three hours and his fireball still wasn’t fast enough to connect with the shuriken, the shuriken was too fast. Without them both connecting the technique wouldn’t have the element of surprise he wanted. He sat down on his tree stump and began to rub his head. How did Daisuke do it, he tried to remember what he did. What did he say? Use the flames, where, what? If only he could remember. After sitting and racking his brain for thirty minutes he remembered. Cloak it in flame. It all clicked then. All he had to do was shoot the fireball then throw the projectile. The fireball would cover the projectile, and with the head start it had they will stay connected the whole way through. How didn’t he think about this earlier?

He lined up and did the required hand seals, very quickly now that he has more practice. Then shot the fireball from his mouth, while reaching for a shuriken and throwing the two together, cloaking the shuriken. Now he could surprise his enemies, now he may even get that hit on Daisuke.

Though he wasn’t finished training, he still had a lot to get done. He was able to do it at twenty meters, but how about thirty or even ten? He sighed again and went from thirty yards he repeated the hand seals and then shot his fireball out. He quickly followed up with a shuriken that pierced the fireball. With the extra distance, the weapon went too fast again. The shuriken hit the wooden post before the fireball. Again it wouldn’t work, a good ninja would be able to deflect the projectile lessening the blow of the fireballs. He realized the root of his problem, he needed to control the speed which he threw the projectile. This whole time he was trying to time when he shot the fireball, but he needed to slow down his projectile. After repeating the hand seals he shot out the flame again, he then threw the shuriken. This time to his dismay, the shuriken was too slow.

He was frustrated now, he knew he wasn’t going to be able to match the speed of the fireball and the shuriken. He needed to start over. Wait was he doing it wrong again? Maybe he was thinking wrong, he needed to coat the projectile in fire, but if he threw the projectile before the fireball, the enemy would spot it and not be surprised. That’s when it clicked. He needed to control the projectile in the flame, he needed to focus his chakra to control the projectile. To keep it straight and not move. If he was going to do this he would have to study his form of fire jutsu again. His jutsu always were a little off shape, maybe not very round, or disfigured. If the chakra is perfectly controlled. The weapon would get stuck in the flow of heat and chakra. It all made sense now, if his jutsu was perfectly controlled the weapon wouldn’t have a hole to escape from.
He placed the weapons down, he wouldn’t need them for a while. He needed to focus on creating perfect fireballs first. He to the bank of a nearby creek, in case he caught himself on fire or something. He sat down and closed his eyes. He needed to shape the chakra correctly, first in his mind, then in practice. He started focusing on his chakra points, he felt the chakra flow in his stomach. It was churning constantly moving, he could feel the warmth in the pit of his stomach, it was comfortable. He always enjoyed focusing his chakra it made him feel safe and powerful.
His eyes still closed he began to do the hand signs slowly, he wasn’t going for speed, he was going for control. He did each one perfectly, then took a large breath, he could feel the chakra flowing down his throat then he felt the fire escape his lips. He could still tell it was wrong. It was better but not completely controlled. His chakra was wild it wasn’t shaped correctly, he was being restricted by bad form, bad form that he was going to erase no matter what. How could he learn Amaterasu if not? He started from the beginning once more. He closed his eyes and focused on the chakra, not the fire, he needed it to be perfectly shaped. He wouldn’t quit until it was. He was getting tired, and his chakra was running low. Though he knew he was going to get it right.
Again doing the hand seals slow and controlled. He let another fireball release his lips. This time it was different it was more controlled it was more fluid. It moved and rotated, it didn’t break into smaller flames it was one projectile. He smiled and opened his eyes and watched the fireball fly into the river. It was great, it was definitely more controlled. Now he had to do multiple. Again he did the hand seals, slow and controlled but this time spat out multiple fireballs. The first one was controlled the second one a bit less and so on. The first one was like his original bolt. He had to start over, he did it a few more times, and he felt that all of them were up to par. All of the bolts were focused enough and he was satisfied, he felt they would cloak the projectile perfectly, just like he needed.
He then practiced throwing the projectiles into the fireballs, like he thought, it worked. They stayed in the middle and were cloaked by the flames, and the weapons were hidden from sight. It was a powerful technique and he knew it. He didn’t realize how low his chakra got until now though. He was exhausted, he knew he couldn’t make the walk home. So he was going to just crash here, and face his parents in the morning. He grabbed his pack and put it against the tree stump and fell asleep right there at his training grounds.

*[Fire Element • Mythical Fire Phoenix Technique]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user draws in a deep breath before emitting it in the form of a series of small fireballs, about the size of a basketball at a speed of 6. The ninja can also hurl a projectile, which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent, the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai. The flames can travel up to thirty feet before dissipating. If the flames hit flesh, they will cause minor second-degree burns.
