D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A technique focused on boosting the user's speed, Speedster begins with a set of handseals. After they are completed, the user will focus chakra throughout their legs to stimulate them. With this extra stimulation, users are able to run more quickly (+1 speed) at the cost of their control over other techniques (-1 control). This technique lasts for three (3) posts.

It was, once again, a rainy day in Konoha. It appeared to be near dusk owed to the sun being thoroughly concealed behind the rain clouds, but in actuality it was closer to early afternoon. Despite the constant precipitation, Kuodachi found himself in his training area with the goal of learning a new technique he read about in the library only the previous day. It was actually a bit of a side goal in the current situation. Kuodachi was standing directly across from his one and only friend, Keiko. It was the very moment before a friendly spar was about to begin.

Kuodachi took in his opponent's appearance. Her long red and wet hair was tied up into a ponytail, held by a simple black bow. Her stance was wide at the base with her hands open and in front of her face, ready to defend against what she knew was coming. A sincere, but timid smile was present on her face along with clear determination in her eyes. It was a sight he had become quite use to over the past year.

Then at the sound of, “Ready, set, start!” in the female's timid voice, Kuodachi began going through a series of handseals, the same handseals he recalled from the scroll in the library. The girl made an immediate dash for him to attempt to interrupt. Luckily, the series was not terribly long. As soon as the series was complete, he took in a deep breath, mostly because he knew what the kunoichi before him would think he was about to do.

The female immediately jumped back, evading the jet of flames she anticipated, but it did not come. Instead, Kuo simply focused chakra to his legs. This jutsu was meant to increase his already formidable speed through the use of chakra enhanced legs. As soon as he though he had it right, he dashed towards the female, much to her surprise. However, he could feel that the chakra was not set correct. He felt no increase to his speed and the chakra almost instantly receded from his legs. He definitely did not do something right.

Not giving too much thought to the failure, he did what he had to. He went on the offensive until he could find another opening to try it once more. His burst forward was led with a right punch. The girl had plenty of time to bring her right hand up to catch it. She was actually stronger than him, so she was able to stop it without much trouble.

Kuo knew what she would do next and began to counter it right away. Using his already built momentum, he brought his feet up and directly into the girls chest simultaneously with the girl throwing a left punch with her free hand. He knew full well the girl's stance would be plenty of brace to support her when he pushed off her chest, allowing the change of momentum to force his legs to spin around for a full back flip. This forced the girl to release his fist, however, her left punch still connected with a fair deal of pain sent to the back of his right knee cap, but nothing debilitating. It also opened some distance between him and his opponent.

As soon as he landed, the girl was already started a series of handseals that was all too familiar to the boy. Kuo decided to follow the lead and began his series once again. If it worked, he would be able to complete the series in time to evade the devastating attack that was about to be heading his way. If not, he would be in for a great deal of pain and set for his cockiness to be knocked down a level. As soon as he finished, he focused chakra to his legs once again. This time, he focused on forcing it to stick to his leg muscles, attempting to implant the chakra more than the last time only moments ago.

As soon as he did, he sprinted with all the speed he could muster to the left. He focused on keeping the chakra in place as he did so. He knew the jutsu the girl was using and the only way to counter it was to move quickly. His gaze was still set on the girl as she finished the handseals. The smile that was present on her face turned to an O shape as she began firing multiple “wind bullets” at the sprinting boy.

He could feel the jutsu working. He could feel the chakra aiding his muscles as he sprinted, trying desperately not to be hit by the attack. He knew if it were not for the preconditioned environment of his personalized training area, he would have much more difficulty running on the moistened land. He also knew he had been hit by the wind bullets all too many times and it never grew less painful. Each one was like a full force punch from a strong man. As he ran, he counted out loud and began another set of handseals, “One. Two. Three. Four. FIVE!” He could feel the difficulty of casting another jutsu while having to focus on maintaining the chakra in his muscles. Regardless, at five, the series of handseals were complete, and his direction immediately shifted toward the girl.

The girl knew what he was doing. As he ran at her, his right fist burst into flames. The girl, at what seemed like the final moment, jumped high into the air in an attempt to avoid the incoming strike. Almost preemptively, Kuodachi leaped to the same level. Bringing his fist back, ready to be rammed into the helpless girl before him, he said, “Got you.” The fire on his fist fizzles out and they land softly. The girl sighed deeply but simply positioned herself to start another round.

Kuodachi's Resolve

Speed Is EverythingShow
Super Speedster
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
A technique focused on further boosting the user's speed without the need to maintain focus on the chakra, It begins with a set of handseals. After they are completed, Kuodachi focuses chakra throughout his legs, specifically, embedding the chakra into the muscles. Kuodachi still has to focus on maintaining the chakra, (-1 Control). However, the way in which the chakra is utilized further enhances the muscles (+2 speed). This technique lasts for four (4) posts.

The air smelled as if it were going to begin raining at any moment. The intense humidity was almost suffocating. Dew droplets still sat upon the green grass surrounding the bare and conditioned training area. Ten large trees grew equidistant around the sizable area. The sun was, once again, hidden behind menacing gray clouds that lined the sky as far as the eye could perceive. Still, a few rays of sunlight managed its way through to shed enough light on the area to function.

Kuodachi stood in the center of the bare dirt area. He wore simple black pants and sported a shirtless torso. His eyes were closed and he was fully exploring his other senses. His breathing was deep and steady, but also slow. His arms were settled at his side and his feet, naked. His toes were digging into the dirt that was still slightly moist from the rain earlier that morning. His hands were clenching and releasing, coinciding with his steady breaths.

It was not long ago that Kuodachi sparred with his Kunoichi friend, Keiko. That was when he learned the art that he sought to modify upon today. It was the art of using chakra to increase his speed. He enjoyed the results, as he was able to dodge exceedingly fast and brutal Fuuton ninjutsu. In his later escapades he also found many uses for the technique. However, scratching at his minds were ways to improve the gains. He felt there was a way to further stimulate and enhance the legs with chakra. Today, he was going to find out.

After ample time for relaxation, his eyes slowly drew open, like the blinds of a window. His hands and feet halted their movement, but his breathing continued in its slow and steady manner. Following a short moment of stillness, his hands rapidly drew together and his fingers began to contort into a series of handseals. In the same moment, his breathing changed to a much more rapid beat.

After the series of handseals were completed, the boy's focus was on his chakra. The only way he could think of improving the technique was in the application of the chakra. The first endeavor at the technique was unsuccessful due to the application, perhaps the key to improvement lay in the same place. He moved the chakra to his legs and once again stimulated the muscles. However, instead of simply stimulating them, he began forcing the chakra into his muscles.

At first, it was painful. Unfortunately, the feeling made him waver thinking that forcing the chakra as he was could actually cause harm. This hesitation made him lose focus on the chakra, and almost immediately, it receded. “Hmm...” he groaned out as he thought. The pain he felt was real, but perhaps it was because it was the first time the muscles have felt such a thing. Or perhaps it was because the chakra would make his muscles burst. He had no way of knowing, as he had never come across such information in his readings.

Regardless of the possibilities, he decided to try once more. He decided the pain was dull enough that if it were truly causing lasting damage, it would hurt far worse. He jumped right into the series of handseals and immediately brought his attention to his chakra after it was complete. Once again, as he began forcing the chakra in, the dull painful sensation came. However, this time, as he assured himself, he pushed past it with no hesitation. Past a certain point of pushing the chakra into his muscles, the pain vanished and he felt his legs change. It was a strange feeling. He imagined that if he were able to see his legs, they would actually look muscular.

After an ample amount of chakra had been pumped into his leg muscles, he stopped. He only focused on maintaining the chakra's position. He felt that the moment he stopped focusing on maintaining it, the chakra would flee from his muscles. It was frustrating to have to lose a bit of concentration due to having to maintain the chakra, but the frustration quickly left.

The frustration left because in the same moment, the boy leaned forward into a sprint. He could feel the speed increase that the jutsu gave him. He was faster than he'd ever been in this moment. He could feel the wind flowing through his hair and brushing across his body as he sprinted around the training area. It was difficult to maintain the speed, simply because he was not use to being that fast. At some points, he had to slow down just a bit from fear of his legs running out from under his body. It was an odd side effect that would likely be remedied through using the jutsu more. He ran until he could no longer maintain the chakra. The feeling of being able to almost instantly increase his speed was thoroughly impressive. Especially since this increase was for more noticeable than the lower level form.

Finally, as the speed waned and the chakra fled from his muscles, he made his way back to the center of the dirt area and plopped down to think about what he just learned. Clearly, the time in which he could make the chakra stay within his muscles was limited. The technique would have to be used carefully in the midst of a battle. It lowered his ability to perform other jutsu, needing to maintain a potion of his chakra control on the jutsu. He knew full well that without his jutsu, he was little more than a small, breakable boy.

However, to have such an increase to his speed also gave way to other possibilities. For example,it could allow him a better chance in using the more devastating jutsu he knew. With that thought, he simply nodded, satisfied with the jutsu.

That's when a voice came from behind him, in the direction of the graveyard. It was a female voice he recognized all too well. “Keiko?” He said as he turned to search for his favorite Kunoichi. Sure enough, Keiko was walking through the graveyard with the same, sweet smile she always had. He face was puzzled as she asked, “What are you doing out here, Kuodachi? Its going to start raining soon.” Kuodachi shrugged knowing she knew the answer to such a question. It was his training area, after all.

She continued without much of a pause, “I went by your place, wondering if you wanted some Miso Soup.” She knew that was his favorite. She usually cooked a large batch with her granny just so she could bring him some in the mornings. She always seemed to care so much for him.

He had pretty much finished up with his training for the morning and now he was pretty hungry. As if, giving its own input, his stomach let out a low grumble. Kuodachi called to her, “That sounds good.” And with that, he stood up and started the walk back home with her.

Kuodachi's Resolve

TraditionShow
The sun was high in the sky with no sign of rain. The wind blew a cool air all around the village, lightening the heavy heat that radiated from the cloudless sky. It was a good Saturday to be outside.

Kuodachi was walking through the busy Konoha streets at a brisk pace, a specific destination in mind. He was fully geared in his Shinobi attire. He was sporting a plain dark blue T-shirt, black shorts and black sandals. In his hand was a single white flower. As he walked, he began to ponder on why he originally chose a white flower for his tradition. He had made a trip to the florist in order to find a suitable item. He read each of the meanings that were posted above the flowers of varying color. So many meanings had been given to the color white ranging from truth to purity. In the end, Kuodachi chose white flowers because of a single word that was posted above the white roses, remembrance. Though, later he realized he may have skewed it a bit to fit his purpose. That is because the flower was intended for his father's grave. The word remembrance was not for happy reasons. It was a similar reason as to why Kuodachi kept his father's sword. A reminder that life is full of pain.

As he walked through the streets, he came upon Keiko's house. As always, Keiko was waiting for him. She emerged from the open doorway, her eyes immediately revealing all the pain she felt for him. Every time he saw Keiko on his way to the cemetery, she always did this. He slowed his pace as he came closer to her until he came to a halt a few feet in front of her. A moment of silence always follows in which Keiko just looks at him with her saddened face. Kuodachi stared back with kindred expression, but for very different reasons. He did not like to see her sad, especially when it was because of him. He never understood why Keiko always felt so sad for him. She knew Kuodachi's feelings for his father were not very positive. She refuses to accept that someone could such feelings for their own family, even after stories of the hatred.

After a brief but apparent moment Kuodachi spoke up with the exact same words he says every time, “Oh, quit it.” Then, his face relinquishes a small smile.

“I know...” She responds as she makes a poor effort to hide the sadness.

“You are going to have to get better at that, being a medic and all.” Kuodachi states plainly with a small chuckle. She knew he was talking about her easily readable emotions. She has been having a rough time in her classes, her teachers claiming, “No one wants to know they are dying and they can see it al “l over your face.”

"I know!” her sadness fleeting as Kuodachi knew just where to poke.

“Relax... You will get it.” Kuodachi states with a smile to reassure her. He continues, “Like this!” his face immediately going completely emotionless, staring at her.

She starts laughing, but Kuodachi remains stoic responding with an emotionless, “What?” This, of course, just makes her laugh more. Then, Kuodachi lets go and chuckles lightly with her.

As the laughter dies down a bit, she states, “You are silly.”

Kuodachi responds with a plain, “I know.” as he begins to move, “I will see you later, Keiko.” But, as he moves past her, Keiko reaches out and grabs his empty hand. Kuodachi looks back to see her face has turned straightaway to be saddened again.

She questions, “Can I come with you?” This question completely threw Kuodachi off. She had never asked to come with. It started as merely an unverbalized courtesy and have become almost a law over the eighteen months that had passed since the funeral. Why was she breaking that now? No one had ever come with him to see his father.

Instead of questioning it, Kuodachi just assumed she had her reasons. Whatever they were, Kuodachi really didn't have the right to bar her from coming along. “Sure...?” He stated in a partial question form so that Keiko knew it was odd for him.

However, she did not hesitate. Releasing his hand, she popped her head into the door hollering, “I will be back in a bit, gran!” The raspy voice of her granny returned with a simple, “Okay! Be safe!” With that, the two walked side by side down the streets in complete silence. Hundreds of questions were swimming through Kuodachi's mind, but they all led back to just one: Why did she ask to come with?

As they walked, Kuodachi glanced over at her. Normally, her face would reveal everything, but at this time, it was so void of any feeling. It was as if she was not even there, lost in her own thoughts. Kuodachi spoke up in a clear and projected voice, “Keiko.”

It was as if the word reached into her mind and yanked her from where she was. Her gaze locked with his own. For a moment her face remained the same. Then, she loosed a small smile and returned, “Yes?”

“What are you thinking about?” Kuodachi questioned as his gaze went back to looking forward.

“Nothing... just classes.” It was a lie, and Kuodachi knew it straight away. He would not push it.

“Classes, huh?” He questioned simply, leaving any trace of suspicion out of it. She simply returned a light nod. Kuodachi could tell she wanted to walk in silence, so he would grant her wish and refrain from anymore conversation. Instead, he turned to his thoughts.

He began wondering how awkward his regular tradition might be with another person there to watch. Of course, Keiko was not just another person, she was Kuodachi one tried and true friend. Someone he could rely on and confess to without the fear of scorn or ill judgment. Still, not a single soul had ever witnessed his tradition apart from the occasional bystander visiting their own deceased ones. Now, someone would be there who knew him and cared. It was going to feel odd, that was for certain.

Suddenly, they were standing at the entrance to the cemetery. Kuodachi was so lost in his thoughts that it felt like they traveled at light speed. The land for the deceased was surrounded by a simple, black metal fence with an opening in the continuous fence to signal the entrance. Kuodachi came to a stop upon realizing they were at the entrance causing Keiko to do the same. Still, no words were shared. Not even as much as a glance. After a moment's pause, Kuodachi pushed off to continue forward. His father'ss resting place was further in the back. Line after line of graves were passed as the two walked in silence. Nature filled the area as beautiful trees in full blossom took to the background and rows of perfectly planned flowers complimented the uniform, chiseled grave stones. It was for this reason that Kuodachi actually liked the feel of the cemetery. It brought him peace to know that so many people found their final resting place in such a beautiful place.

In what felt like a short moment, Kuodachi was standing in front of the place where his father rested. Keiko stood very close behind and to his right. It was very common for people to kneel before the graves, but Kuodachi never took up the practice. He viewed these visits far differently than most folks visiting burial sites did. He was not here to pay respect to his father. He made visiting a tradition strictly for his own benefit as a reminder.

His father's headstone was similar to all the rest in the graveyard. It was a large piece of stone shaved smooth with writing etched into it the face. A couple wilted flowers still remained from his previous visit sitting just in front of the headstone on the green grass that covered the area. Kuodachi use to get very angry from reading the text of the stone, “Loving husband, caring father, and honorable Shinobi of the Hidden Leaf.” Though it's only been a short while, it feels like a very long time since the day his father perished. Since then, he has come to realize that the quote had little meaning and is more of a standard. His father death had many ill rumors surrounding it, as his Shinobi career did as a whole. All the gossip said he was far from an “honorable Shinobi”, and Kuodachi knew first hand, he was the furthest from a caring father as any father could be. Regardless, even if the statements were falsities, the etching must be something optimistic in order to maintain the atmosphere of the graveyard.

Then, Kuodachi's tradition began. He performed his tradition as if Keiko was not even there, completely tuning her presence out. He began to speak.

“Father. I was assigned to a team. I was very grateful for being appointed to a team with people I am already familiar with and, thus far, enjoy. Their names are Saburo and Sayuri. Mio-sensei, also seems like someone I will develop to like. I look forward to training and growing with them. Lets see, I recently created a new technique. I have not really utilized it in any combat yet, but I can see where it would be applicable. I think that is about it this time. Thank you for teaching me how the world really is, Father, and may you continue resting in peace.” And, just as quickly as it began, it ended. A concise relay of any important events that happened since his last visit. He was not sure why he started doing this. He knew he was only really talking to himself, but somehow, it brought him comfort.

Every time he did this little tradition, an intense mixture of feelings always tried to come forth. Feelings of hate, anger, and sadness tried to pry their way to the surface, but Kuodachi always swallowed them. Then, as a finale to the tradition, Kuodachi lightly tosses the white rose to land right in front of the headstone, with the wilted ones that remained, uttering the words, “Always remember the world is filled with cruelty and darkness, but always save room for compassion and light.” The last words were the substance of the tradition. The words were his real reminder. They spewed forth memories of trials that, against all odds, Kuodachi has passed.

Silence consumed the area. Kuodachi just starred at the grave. His purpose for the pause, to gain composure for turning to face Keiko. Finally, Kuodachi pivoted to be met with tears streaming down Keiko's face. As soon as he turned to look at her, she ruptured into full whaling in the middle of the peaceful cemetery. Kuodachi didn't even know what to do. He was never very good with crying. He decided on just standing there and letting her cry. Sometimes, she got like this and just needed a moment.

It took a few minutes, but the crying slowed and she began wiping her face with the sleeves of her shirt. That was when Kuodachi began to walk, knowing she was ready to follow. Finally, she was fully composed and she sniffled out, “Sorry... That was just so sad.” By this point, they were on their way down the long aisle between the graves leading out of the cemetery.

Kuodachi responded with a simple question, “How so?”

Keiko blurted out, “There was just no love!”

That was when Kuodachi figured out why she became so upset. She always refused to accept that Kuodachi had such ill feelings about his own father, but after seeing his tradition, it seemed all too clear. The way, apart from the telling of his life events, everything was seemingly scripted. It was clearly different from most people's visits to deceased loved ones.

He responded with a lightened, caring voice, “I am sorry... I know it is very hard for you to understand, but there is nothing for me to love.”

Keiko simply nodded her head. It was the first time she asked to come with him, and it would likely be the last. Kuodachi knew that and did not mind the slightest. He didn't like to see her cry and knowing her, she would cry every time.

So, it was the first time that someone who cared about him witnessed the tradition he had developed to remember his father by. More specifically, to remember the lesson his father indirectly taught him: Life is filled with hatred, wrath, and sorrow. Its full of mistreatment and is in no way fair. However, life is worsened for the feeble. So, strength and power are vital to achieving a fulfilling life.

Plans within plans!Show

Stat Training # 6: Wit
Word Count: 1342/1300

This was suppose to be a simple operation: Protect the old man merchant as he traveled his trade route. Was bandit activity really icnreasing so much that even the most humble merchants fork out for defense in their travels? Well, yeah. The only reason Kuodachi's presence was requested in the first place was due to the recent surge of bandit activity, or so the merchant said. Lucky for the merchant, it was a precaution that was quickly becoming well worth it.

As they pressed forward, Kuodachi noticed some peculiar signs of recent activity on the road. Footsteps in the muddy terrain leading off the path was the first sign. Who would be trekking off the beaten path? Bandits, of course. There was also vegetation that had been forcefully moved and broken. While a wild animal was a possibility, the human footsteps were a clear indication otherwise. Finally, a torn piece of fabric hanging on a bushy plant-life was the last sign Kuodachi needed to see to be certain they were probably in for some action. They were probably currently walking into a trap, that much was clear. On top of that, the noise from the mule pulled wagon would surely gather the attention of every sleeping bandit that lay in wait. There would be no lucking their way past this ambush.

How many lurked within the woods, Kuodachi couldn't be sure of. Judging by the signs, it was at least four. They were definitely no ninja, given there were indeed signs of their presence. A ninja would not have made it so obvious. A lout of bandits wouldnt be much trouble, even if they were outnumbered. They were simple people, seeking a trade in robbery. They were usually not trained professionals. Regardless, one wrong move and things could get hairy fast, even if they were just a band of hapless brigands.

With a few quick steps, he casually moved up to be in line with the merchant, mumbling the words scarcely loud enough for him to hear, “Bandits. Don't panic. On my signal, motion the mule to a run.” The merchant, following his instructions, simply continued his forward motion, the mule close in tote. Kuodachi had already been churning up a plan for dealing with the rabble.

As they pressed forward, no bandits jumped from the woods, nor any projectiles making an appearance. It was possible he was wrong about bandits having been there in the first place which would have been a relief for both Kuodachi and the merchant. Why would they allow them to meander so far past where they were waiting? Another few paces, still nothing. They were making their way quite a bit past the footprints and torn cloth. Still yet, the relief did not come. Kuodachi couldn't accept there being nothing, perhaps partially due to pride. After a quarter mile, the merchant finally turned over his shoulder and said, “Looks like we got lucky! No bandits.” with a smile as they continued towards their destination.

Still Kuodachi pondered what could have been the reason for all the obvious signs. They were almost... too obvious. With that though, Kuodachi piped up, “Indeed. Looks like I was wrong.” Then, he knelt down, feigning interest in fixing his pant leg. His eyes remained wary as he did so. As if it was a part of his own plan, Shuriken sailed from the forest line at that very moment. They were waiting for a moment of frailty to take out the bodyguard. They would not get that moment so easily! Kuodachi hopped back, evading the Shuriken before saying in louder words, “Alright, now we know you are there. Come on out!” Sure enough five figures emerged from the tree line, the mule quickly coming to a halt along with the merchant. Two wielded swords, the others had daggers. It was going to be a tough fight if they all knew how to use their weapons beyond sticking the pointy end into the enemy. Still, Kuodachi's mind continued churning through his plan.

“Well, well, if it isn't a lawless group of bandits!” As planned, only one bandit spoke up with a response, “If it isn't a bratty kid who thinks he is a ninja!” Immediately, Kuodachi knew this one was the leader of the crew. He had been the one to devise the plan to stalk their prey until they dropped their guard. Leaving the signs that anyone could pick up so far back to alert their prey only to let their concerns dwindle with each step to a point lower than before they even saw the signs. They would lay in the brush until the guards, if any, let their guard down. It was a decent plan for a bunch of rabble, that was for sure. So, the leader was semi intelligent and Kuodachi was outnumbered. With any luck, he could out think the leader.

He threw his hands up, “Alright. No need for bloodshed. As you said, I am just a kid. He is just an old man. Take the goods and leave us be, okay?” There was a moment of disbelief in the bandit leader's eyes, but then a smile came to his face, “Looks like we picked the right one, boys. Get in there and loot it. You,” He said pointing to Kuodachi, “Stand next to the merchant, and no funny moves, got it?” Kuodachi did as the bandit said, moving to stand next to the old man as the three of the bandits moved to the cart. The leader moved, revealing rope to tie the two up, towards Kuodachi. It was all going according to plan. Still, the merchant stood with his hands in the air, his legs shaking with fear.

Kuodachi, as he made the final movements to stand next to the old man, “clumsily” bumped into him and stared into his eyes that redirected towards him. The signal. The old man, being a bold man, gave the command to Rumpert, with a loud, ear shattering whistle. Right away the already skittish mule moved into a full on sprint. All three bandits were only just getting their feet set on the wagon, the leader bandit only a a few feet in front of them and the last bandit still standing by the tree line, watching it all happen.

In the next moments, Kuodachi's hands moved to his sword with lightning fast speed, pulling it into a downward strike right into the leader's left shoulder. The speed of the strike was enough to send it deep, a fatal blow without medical attention, instantly dropping him to the ground as the blood spewed forth. The three bandits who were working on mounting the wagon were sent to the ground, entirely surprised by the sudden movement.

Now it was time to see just what these bandits were like. Kuodachi whipped his foot into the side of the head of the leader who was already downed as he pulled the blade from his shoulder. Screams of pain spewed forth along with the blood. All eyes were on Kuodachi as he spoke, “Take him, get some medical attention and he just might live. Try to continue this foolish escapade, he will die and so will each and every one of you.” His eyes were cold, moving between each of the bandits as the three pulled themselves to their feet. Kuodachi's eyes, along with the dying bandit and bloodied blade, gave weight to the words. They were all in shock, not entirely sure what to do in this moment. They were lost without the commands of their leader. After a moment of hesitation, the other bandits shared a glance before sheathing their weapons and charging over to retrieve their leader.

Kuodachi maintained his defensive position around the merchant as the bandits dragged their leader into the woods. As they were vanishing from sight, Kuodachi yelled, “Wrap that up, or he is going to bleed to death!” Before looking to the merchant with a smile and saying, “Shall we catch that mule of yours?”

Kuodachi's Resolve

Death, then kissShow

Stat Training #7
Ninjutsu 1467/1300
Kuodachi began his morning with training, as was very common on his days off. He woke up early and sneaked out of his home without being hassled by his keeper without much problem. As per usual, he simply walked down the wall from his balcony. A mile jog, and he found himself in his personal training ground; A place left to him after his father died. It was a simple arena styled sand pit with various training implements, such as dummies. The area is complete with a shed filled with tools to train all sorts of specific things.

Today was a special day. As he neared the training ground, he caught sight of why. His best friend, Keiko stood in the center of the pit. He called out, “You are here before me! I think the world is going to end.” In only a moment, he was positioned a few feet in front of her. She was smiling at his jest, “Yeah yeah. It is only because you are going to be Chuunin soon, so this is important. Otherwise I would have made you wait!” Kuodachi responded simply, “You are right. So, lets get to it!” immediately popping into a combat stance. “First right, focus on ninjutsu. I need to practice with that!”

Without a moments hesitation, he began with a series of hand seals before focusing the chakra to his muscles. Embedding it deeply, he felt the instant invigoration it gave as he took off, full speed, around Keiko. He was circling his prey. Of course, she didn't just stand there. She too began a series of handseals. It was one that Kuodachi was familiar with. Following her seals, just as Kuodachi began his circle, her hand went to her lips as she seemingly breathed out. Kuodachi knew full well what she was doing. The sand of the arena like training ground in front of the girl almost immediately began to be ripped from the ground and tumble towards Kuodachi. A cone shaped wave of wind!

Kuodachi, as quick as he could manage, leaped into the air as high as he could, but it was not high enough. He felt the wave catch his shins, cutting deeply as it also caused him to flip uncontrollably back to the ground with a crash landing. Finding himself quickly, his head turned up to see Keiko charging him. She jumped, her foot heading right for his head. Kuodachi rolled before bringing his legs up for a kick that would connect with Keiko just as she landed. The cuts on his shins were bleeding, but they would not hold him back much.

The kick would connect, sending Keiko tumbling to the ground. She caught herself, but it gave Kuodachi enough time to push off the ground and create some distance. Both parties would start another series of hand seals as if the battle were just starting again. This time, Kuodachi planned to trap her in his strongest barrier to buy him some time. As soon as his seals completed, the barrier would appear around Keiko, which she seemed not to expect. She just stopped her seals with a look on her face that portrayed her detest for Kuodachi's barriers. This one, Kuodachi knew she had nothing that could break.

“Got you!” He'd yell even though his friend could not hear him. Now came the mischievous smile of his that he usually got when he knew he had won. He made slow and steady steps towards the barrier as he began yet another series of handseals. He could feel his pool of chakra draining with each new jutsu he cast. But, it would be worth it in the long run. This training would be vital to his improvement for when he finally went on his first mission as a Chuunin. Having passed the test, he knew he was far too weak and got by on good fortune and nothing more. Whomever his teammates might be for the first mission, he didn't want to hold them back like he felt he had done in the exam. The only way to truly fix that problem is to get stronger.
As the next series of handseals finished, the barrier would begin to shrink. It was a good sign. The next step would be ghost coating then.... With a loud explosion the barrier that surrounded Keiko burst and vanished. “What did you...?!” He didnt have time to be surprised! Keiko was moving right into another series of handseals. What jutsu did she learn between their last spar and now that could actually break that barrier?!

Kuodachi sprung into action, returning with his own seals, hopefully to meet whatever jutsu she was working on with a defensive response. Sure enough, another wind projectile jutsu came spewing forth from Keiko's mouth. It was a ball of swirling wind the side of a basketball. It was definitely one he had not seen her use before and it looked painful! Not to mention it was traveling at ridiculous speeds right at him. With no time to dodge, he was fortunate to have prepared the reflective jutsu. With an extension of his arm towards the projection, a small disk shaped blue barrier appeared just in time to meet the basketball. With collision between the two forced came and explosion of wind that sent Kuodachi flipping backwards.

What on earth was that? Seems she had been training very hard in her off time as well. Finally, his out of control body would come to a halt. The ache would consume him as he groaned all the way back to his feet. He could only imagine what condition he would be in had the sphere actually connected with him rather than his barrier. He'd have probably been in the hospital! As he glanced around, his eyes did not find Keiko. Immediately, his mind began expected the worst. She was going to pop out with another surprise and deadly jutsu. Where the hell was she learning such techniques?!

The next thing he heard caused a shiver of fear to run down his spine. It sounded like a tornado was approaching form behind him. Turning his entire body, he was met with the most terrifying sight he'd ever seen to in all his 15 years of life. It was literally a tornado. A giant swirling cyclone of vicious fuuton chakra that was nearly tearing entire trees from their roots. Was she trying to kill him?! Frantically, the Kuodachi began a series of handseals, scarcely finishing before the twister ran right over the top of him. Luckily, he was able to get the jutsu off in time and a box of dense blue chakra surrounded him. Of course, he didnt even know if it would hold through such a massive and impressive jutsu. Was it really Keiko that was doing this?! Even the roar made it through the dense walls of his cage as he passed over the top.

The sound would weaken as, he could only assume, the twister continued on its path. The barrier held. Of course, it was his strongest barrier and could even explode given the command. If it didn't hold, he would know for certain he was outmatched. But now, Kuodachi was almost certain Keiko was in fact trying to kill him. Had she lost her mind? With another quick series, Kuodachi covered his body in ghost chakra that would allow him to pass his barrier walls uninhibited. He'd approach the southern wall of his box prison and poke his head through with great caution as he did so. He was half expecting her to be standing there ready to shove a wind blade through his eyes. But when he stuck his head through, he saw her in the distance, perhaps 20 meters out, arms crossed with a smile on her face. Seriously?!

“Are you trying to kill me?!” Kuodachi yelled at the top of his lungs with anger swelling up.

“Maybe. Do you not think you can match me?” She giggled lightly like normal Keiko, still in control of her thoughts. So, she had not gone brainsick.

“You are completely crazy!” He yelled back as he exited his barrier in direct route towards her. She began steps towards him in the same moment. They were both slow, steady steps.

“So, now that you have scared me half to death, maybe we should take a break.” Kuodachi said as he came a few feet from her and began looking around at the devastation caused by the tornado. His training ground was ruined! He turned back to Keiko with fury in his eyes, ready to have it out with her when he was met with her leaning forward and locking lips with him.

What the fuck?

Kuodachi's Resolve

There Comes A TimeShow

There comes a point in every Shinobi's life when they want to learn how to activate something, be it a seal or something else, from a range. This moment, for Kuodachi, came when he was thinking about various arts he could learn with Fuuinjutsu. Their utility was largely limited if unable to be activated at a range. Thus, he found himself in the woods, trying his hardest to understand this technique. It was a simple technique in the scope of techniques, but he had just put off learning it for so long. Now, having a great many seals written in various places around him, he got right to work.

The scroll he had basically said to focus a small amount of chakra into the seal. It was the same as activating a seal when touching it, just transmitting the chakra to it from a range. Staring intensely at a seal stuck to the tree a few meters away from him, he began focusing his chakra. On a conceptual level, this was similar to the method of activating an explosive tag, to a degree. The difference was, there was no chakra already existing in the seal to connect to. This had to be done entirely without a direction for the chakra. Of course, that was not horribly difficult for one so versed in chakra control as this special jounin.

It only took a few moments for the young man to direct a thin, invisible stream of chakra to the seal. When it got there, thanks to the instructions within the fuuinjutsu, the chakra was almost lapped up like a bowl of milk would be to a dehydrated kitten. In the next moment, the seal glowed brightly, releasing a single Kunai with a thud to the dirt below it. This was not exactly a seal he would need to activate at a range under most circumstances, but it was a good seal to practice with regardless.

With a single success, Kuodachi knew he had it down. It only took once to understand the intricate workings. Ultimately, it was simple. He was amazed he didnt take the few moments to learn this in the past. Looking to another seal, he began another try. Making a single seal and focusing his chakra, he'd meet the seal with his light blue stream. The seal immediately glowed brightly and, with another thud, dropped a Kunai to the ground. 8 more thuds later and 10 Kunai sat on the ground around him, all dropped from the various seals. With a smile, he gathered them up and called the technique mastered.

Trained:
*[Ninjutsu • Chakra Kai]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
A jutsu used with the purpose of activating seals and a range of devices and weapons, this technique begins with a single handseal. Once this has been performed, the user will focus a dollop of his/her chakra into what s/he is looking to activate in order to complete the task. Seals activated with this technique must be within 20 yards of the user's position.

Kuodachi's Resolve

Tie me up ;)Show
“Are you almost done?”

“Almost! Jeez.” With another tug, Kuodachi felt the rope tighten around his wrists which were secured behind him. The female voice sounded again, “There. As good a knot as I can possibly do.”

“Alright! Now... Lets see.” Kuodachi's face scrunched as he began to focus deeply on the technique he was working on. Forcing his chakra in a channeling fashion with no hand seals into the rope, he began desperately trying to move the rope with only his chakra. His control over chakra was quite profound, and he didn't need to control it with any seriously difficult movements. This was child's play!

As he focused his chakra, carefully embedding it into the rope that was laced around his wrists, he finally felt he had control. With small, careful pulses, he could feel the rope moving ever slightly. But that would not be enough to undo such a tight, refined knot! NO! With harder pulses, feeling the knot out, he began to move the rope with greater force. As he focused so heavily, he began to grunt slightly. It was like trying to undo the knot in a pair of pants that was stuck. Usually he'd run and grab a fork, or something, but now he had nothing but his chakra.

Damnit. It was not enough! Pumping more chakra, focusing on the actual structure of the knot, he tried harder and harder! Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he felt his hands loose from the ropes as the twists were undone. Pulling his hands out, he yelled, “TIME!”

“A minute and ten seconds. Nice.”

“Again.”

Keiko tied his hands behind his back once more, in yet another different knot. This time, straining once more, he put more chakra into it right off the bat. Tugging, pulling, pushing, and weaving, all with only the use of his chakra. This knot seemed even more intricate than any of the others, but he knew he could do it! There was no limit to this technique! He just had to practice until he could undo every knot with only his chakra! After what seemed like no time at all, he felt it loosening. Almost there! With onefinal, hard pull of the rope, he felt the rope fall limply around his wrists. Quickly and hard, he tugged his hands out of the ropes once more. “TIME!”

A gasp followed, with smiling words, “38 seconds. And that was a really good knot too!” A smile rest on Kuodachi's face as he said “Again.”

[Ninjutsu • Escape Artist]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
By channeling chakra into rope or wire, Kuodachi can control it in a very basic manner in order to unknot it. This is used mainly when having been bound in some manner. Can even undo very complex knots. This is highly useful should one be captured and tied up. Must be in contact with the rope or wire.

Turn It Up To 11!Show
[Ninjutsu • Booming Voice]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By channeling chakra to his voice box, Kuodachi can make is voice extremely loud, being able to be heard up to a mile away. It is not loud enough to cause any problems to those, even close up. The chakra is the main reason the sound travels so far, not the sheer volume. In addition, through application of chakra, he can also change the pitch of his voice to drastic levels, be it horrible rumbling low, or a high pitched sequel. Can also be used to talk extremely quiet, for some serious whispering. This can be channeled for a number of posts equal to the users stamina.

Kuodachi found himself on woods with the directions to find an individual. A woman had lost her daughter, or something like that. Doesn't really matter. Of course, were she still alive, it could take ages to fine her. So, Kuodachi had to think of something that would speed along the search. After a moment of pondering, he came up with an idea.

He began channeling chakra to his voice box and speaking at the same time. Right away, he could tell that the pitch could be changed through the use of chakra. It was odd to hear himself sounding so different. Then again, he did always want a lower pitched voice, so this may have multiple uses later on. The chakra drain was so extremely low, it wouldn't be any problem to maintain for extended periods of time. So, in many ways, he could probably alter his voice in a daily situation, to sound more masculine, or even feminine. It still sounded somewhat like his voice, just of a different pitch. Very strange indeed, but, it posed little use for the current situation. He needed to change the volume in order to beckon the girl from any distance.

Continuing with the experimentation, he found himself scratching the surface of changing the volume, hearing his voice reach what he thought previously to be limits. However, it was no nrealy loud enough and he could feel his throat grating from the intensity of the change. So, instead of focusing entirely on the volume, he needed to coat the voice box in a manner that would allow the voice to travel further rather than just be louder. Further experimentation, all the while, yelling the little girls name, finally seemed to work. He could tell the sound of his voice had changed, perhaps being amplified, or just using the chakra to travel further. It was odd, but it seemed to be working. So, he decided to ramp that effect up to max.

He began yelling the name, forcing the chakra to carry the sound further. All the while, the young man was imagining the uses for this in daily life. Someone is not listening to you, yell at them with an intensity previously thought impossible. A girl looking at you, allure her with a sultry, manly voice to make any lady swoon. Still, he continued yelling on sporadic occasions, calling for the girl, but not moving. Then, he heard ruslting in the brush and sure enough, the girl popped out with a confused look on her face. “I heard someone calling my name from this direction, was that you?” Kuodachi responded with only a smile.

Kuodachi's Resolve

Charka PropulsionShow
[Ninjutsu • Chakra propulsion]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 7 Control
By channeling a small but highly directed pulse of chakra out of his palm, Kuodachi can force an object to propel from his hand at a speed and strength equal to his control stat to a maximum of 10. The chakra is so powerful and directed it results in a puff of blue from his palm as it happens.
Kuodachi was sitting outside, behind his small apartment, when he began pondering his lack of strength. It seemed that, no matter how much he worked out, his body simply would not achieve the great raw strength he'd often seen in other high ranking shinobi. At this point, even his girlfriend, Keiko, was able to out match him in an arm wrestling contest. It was, frankly, a little embarrassing. He's accepted it long ago, when he passed the chuunin exams, but there was no way of completely ignoring such a terrible flaw. There were, however, work around. What Kuodachi did have going for him is raw control over his chakra beyond that of many of his peers. The question was, how to capitalize on that strength to lessen his weakness.

Then it came to him like a light bulb going off in his head. He'd seen the Hyuuga burst chakra from their tenkestu, and while he may never have such control over his as a Hyuuga, he sure as hell could utilize what he had for a fairly simple technique for throwing weapons. So, standing from his lazy seated position on his cozy outside chair generally meant for sun bathing, he moved over to a rolled up stack of Kunai, grabbing a single one. Looking to the tree protruding from the center of his back yard, he threw it with all his might. It stuck into the tree, but it definitely did not go deep enough to signal any real damage. It was... disappointing.

But, he could fix that with chakra. Now, grabbing another Kunai, setting the entire ream onto the chair that now sat next to him, he looked to the tree once more. This time, he began building up chakra into the palm of his hand. When he felt ready, he thrust the hand gripping the Kunai towards the tree once more, releasing the built up chakra in a burst. The burst was uneven, sending the Kunai flying, granted, quite quickly completely missing the tree. He grimaced as it sailed right into his neighbors fence, delving right through the board, like a drill, with a thud into the ground behind it.

He was often paying for the small damages he caused to his neighbors property. His neighbors, lucky for him, didn't care too much. They always knew he'd pay for any damage. They even sometimes found it entertaining to watch. Regardless, when Kuodachi felt his muse take over, he felt a need to test things immediately. He didn't always accept being bothered to go to his training grounds. This just happened to be one of those occasions as he grabbed another Kunai and began channeling the chakra to his palm once more.

This time, he focused the chakra more intensely, trying to burst it as quickly as he could through at small an area as he could manage. He gripped the Kunai tightly as he focused so intensely on his chakra flow. He morphed the chakra, kneaded it, and genstly carressed it into its position. It was like a strait line of chakra lying in wait to burst forward into the back of the Kunai. When he felt he had it, he thrust his hand forward at the tree once more, and POOF! The chakra visibly burst from his palm, completely even. The Kunai flew through the air at an incredible speed and power, far beyond that which he could manage with only his muscles. It nailed the tree with a hefty and satisfying thud. A smile came to his face as he began contemplating the possibilities within combat for such a technique. Finally, he could launch a projectile with more than a wimpy left handed throw from a Genin.

RASENGAN!Show
*[Ninjutsu • Rasengan]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: Konoha-nin, 7 Control
One of the few ninjutsu without hand seals, the Rasengan relies on the ninja's ability to mold chakra. The ninja concentrates a contained, fast, and rotating sphere of chakra in the palm of their hand. Using pure chakra, it creates a spinning ball of chakra that hits at a strength of 9, and can send opponents spiraling off in the distance. However, the Rasengan must stay in the user's hand, otherwise it will dissipate.

It all started with his new found powers as a Special Jounin. His specialty, obviously, non-elemental ninjutsu and genjutsu. These new found powers gained him access to scrolls he'd otherwise never be able to see without some kind of special connections. After being told this information, there was only one thing Kuodachi could do, and that was get started training some new techniques! Without a moments hesitation, he went and retrieved a few scrolls to get started. One that immediately caught his eye due to its innate destructive capability was called the “Rasengan.” A ninjutsu that took no handseals to do. Instead, it relied on the wielders ability to control chakra with great precision. Kuodachi knew his powers of control over his own chakra were quite advanced for his age and rank, so it seemed like the perfect jutsu for him to practice to add a truly devastating staple in his arsenal of techniques.

So, with haste, Kuodachi began training the technique in his free time. Talking to a Jounin, he was given a solid training regiment that would supposedly allow him to do the technique by the end of all the steps. The first step was to take a water balloon in the hand and try to break it using only chakra. So, to start, he had 5 water balloons piled next to a tree. Picking one up in his hand, he started. How could one break a it with only chakra? No squeezing, just shooting chakra into the balloon. At first, he couldn't really figure it out. The first attempt, he ended up concentrating so hard, he didn't realize he was squeezing it progressively harder until it popped in his hand with a splash all over his lap. The next one, the same thing happened. “Damnit. I need to stop squeezing.” With a new resolve and more attention allotted to the activity, realizing it would definitely not be as effortless as he first imagined, he picked up another.

This time, he pulled back, not focusing so intensely on the chakra that he would sqeeze. Instead, he placed his hand gently around the balloon. Then, he started casually channeling the chakra into the balloon. Of course, nothing really happened. Recalling the words of the scroll, it was less about the amount of chakra and far more about the motion of the chakra. That had to be meaningful. So, instead of simply channeling the chakra into the balloon, he needed to make it move around the water rapidly. With that thought, he began channeling the chakra in a manner that would cause the water to swirl around. Faster and faster he pushed the chakra to make it swirl with greater ferocity. More and more of his focus was required, until he ended up popping it again. Another puddled splashed to thr ground. Now, on his fourth balloon, he began wondering if he would need more than five. This was so much more difficult than he imagined!

With the fourth in hand, he began where he left off, being sure not to squeeze the balloon any harder than the casual grasp. More and more chakra he pumped into the water, causing it to visibly swirl hard enough to move the balloon in his arms. “Yes! YES!” He grunted out as he pushed harder until “Pop”. It burst in his hand, and not from his own squeezing this time. It caused shock to wash over his face. “That's it, huh?” he questioned to himself. To ensure he had it, he picked up the last balloon and repeated the process. Sure enough, with the proper, sporadic and rapid swirling motion, the balloon burst.

On to the next step. A rubber ball. Hesitation washed over the young man as he looked to the rubber ball. Seeing how difficult the fragile balloon filled with water was, how truly challenging was the ball going to be? Still, he grabbed the ball and started right into the training process. Trial and error would rule the day in the end. First, he tried the same exact thing he did with the balloon. That resulted in absolutely nothing. No movement whatsoever. It was obvious the movement needed to be light years more vigorous than with the balloon in order to burst a solid mass. His hand was starting to hurt at this point, but with his resolve not wavering, he continued. Fortunately, this time he could squeeze the ball as hard as he wanted and it wouldn't break. Or, perhaps unfortunately. That truly gave weight to how taxing this task would be.

Still, he started another attempt. Swirling the chakra in random directions as hard and as fast as he possibly could. He didnt have the motion of the chakra down perfectly yet. It was like jumping rope, rubbing your belly, patting your head, all while switching between doing a backflip and a frontflip. It seemed impossible! Kuodachi assumed it would be a fairly simple task, but it was extremely difficult! As it stood, it seemed impossible, and the next step would only get harder! Pushing as hard as he could, mustering as much power in the control of the swirling chakra, pushing harder and harder... Then he felt something. It was a little something, but he felt the ball bulge in one section. It was a sign that he had the right idea. This step was about the power of the flow. Of course, the added difficulty was the lack of water in the center which just made it more difficult to maneuver with the needed power.

Stopping the flow, Kuodachi sighed a profound sigh of frustration as his eyes looked up towards the sky. “Should I call it a day?” Looking to the ball, he answered with a firm “NO!” As he picked it back up and began again. This time, he pushed harder than he ever thought possible. Swirling the chakra, he could feel the aggravated chakra swirling with greater intensity as he felt the pattern coming together perfectly. Faster, harder. The ball began vibrating, the chakra causing bulges to appear in random spots. “AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!” He screamed as he pushed a the chakra around even harder until... “boom.” The ball exploded into many pieces, causing his hand to burn from the power. Amazing. This was not even the final step! For the first time, assuming he could finish this, Kuodachi would have a truly devastating jutsu up his sleeve.

Now, just to make sure he had it, he grabbed a second rubber ball and proceeded to do the same thing again. In a matter of moments, doing the same thing he did previously, the ball popped. With that confirmation, it was time to move on to the next step.: Forming the ball of spiraling chakra with nothing to aid the creation. Just in the palm of his hand form the spiraling ball of chakra. No longer having any barrier between the chakra and the freedom of air. Now, he had to move the chakra and keep it in his palm with his own sheer chakra control.

Realizing this was the last step, Kuodachi started right into it. His hand was already burning with a serious intensity that left it difficult to even keep his fingers bent, but he wouldn't stop now. He was already so close! Holding his hand out, he began the steps he'd already been practicing. Focusing a steady stream of chakra into his palm, he began spinning it in the same manner, harder and harder. The chakra was actually visible! Up to this point, he'd not even seen the it within the balloon and ball. It was spinning so fast and with such intensity, it actually created an amazing spiraling ball of blue chakra. At the same time, the chakra was nearly bursting out of the sphere. Without the wall there, it was difficult to keep it all stuck in the shape.

“Come on!” He screamed in the frustration. Pulling his fingers up around the ball, he pushed even harder to keep it all within the sphere. The chakra took the form, Kuodachi pushed harder, and the sphere took an even more refined strength. “This is it!” he yelled as he slammed the ball into a tree. The result was devastating! Not only did it damage the tree, the tree ripped right from its roots and spiraled back a few feet! Kuodachi, even knowing this would be an amazing jutsu, was astonished. It took a full half minute before he closed his mouth.
