[Lonely Thread] Her Eyes Still Glow Like Heaven

It was many years ago, shortly after some of her first experiments with Hiton that she first began to develop pseudo-genjutsu. My manipulating light in just the right way, she could create illusions to confound and confuse her opponents. She learned that these worked exceptionally well against other Awai clan members, whom normally had a good deal of resistance against visual genjutsu. But that was what made these techniques special. They were not genjutsu, but they were still illusions. It began when she adapted the applications of the clans invisibility jutsu, which were based on changing the way light refracted around the body in order to cause a displacement of vision. In a similar line of thought, Cros began to change the way light interacted with the surrounding world to create such illusions.

She performed a set of hand seals, much akin to the basic clone technique taught at the academy to all students, a requirement for one to be able to graduate and be given the rank of genin. She made a simple change at the end, imbuing the jutsu and the resulting clone with an amount of hiton chakra. The result was admittedly not quite what she was looking for. What she had created was indeed a rather basic clone of herself, but it was made of solidified hiton. It glowed white and could move around freely as she had wished it to, but it was extraordinarily easy to tell that it was indeed a clone, given that it gave off such a glow as it did. She dispelled the technique, it was time to try again. She decided that it would be wise to change up some of the ending hand seals for the basic clone jutsu in an attempt to achieve the desired result.

Again, Cros performed the basic clone jutsu hand seals with a few minor alterations to give it that special quality that only Awai Clan members were able to utilize. This time however she changed one of the hand seals from the previous attempt into a different seal, imbuing the jutsu with a less potent amount of Hiton chakra. Before her appeared a clone of herself, an exact visual duplicate, just as she had intended. She willed it to move around and it did, just as she had imagined. She willed it to tackle her and she braced for impact just in case it was more solid that she had wanted it to be. But the false clone simply went straight through her. She felt a bit of warmth as the light went through her body.

Hiton: False Clone
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By forming handseals nearly identical to the basic clone technique, Cros will create a clone of herself made of light. This clone can move around and function much like any other clone with the exception of being unable to interact with the physical world in any way, physical objects and jutsu alike simply passing through the clone, which can move at a speed up to 4 and lasts for up to three posts, able to travel up to 30 feet from Cros.

Having rather easily but successfully developed a method of creating visual illusions without the need for genjutsu, Cros set out to create even more of these pseudo-genjutsu, as she had taken a liking to referring to them as. She began to think on everything she knew about actual genjutsu, as well as what sort of applications she would want to utilize for creating her illusions. She would start with something else simple, she decided. Thinking for a moment or so on just what kind of illusions she wanted to work with, she thought about the various genjutsu she had seen so far in her career. Suddenly an idea popped into her head after a few moments of thinking and consideration

She decided that she needed some sort of offensive jutsu. Or rather, something that appeared to be dangerous in nature, but was actually merely a distraction. That much was a given, but what she decided on came all to naturally to her. Cros decided she was going to make three pairs of false shuriken, made to look just like shuriken she would have made from a hiton technique. Slewing together a very quick set of hand seals as though to make hiton shuriken, she changed a few of the seals a little bit at the very beginning. Having done that, Cros created six lightly glowing shuriken, white in color just as though they hadd been made from her personal hiton color. They launched forward one after another, moving at a rather slow speed. After all, it was definitely a lower-ranked jutsu, nothing to be too proud of. But it seemed as though they were moving just a bit too slow. Something just didn't seem to be working quite the way she wanted it to. And so she would try again.

Doing another quick set of hand seals, Cros changed only the very first seal after some careful consideration of her previous attempt. Before her, six shuriken of white light were formed in the air, and each of them shot off one after the other. They were still moving relatively slow, that much was certain. But it was much faster than the previous attempt. This was definitely more like how she had imagined it, the six shuriken flying through the air, a good fifteen feet away from her. They eventually fell once they reached their maximum distance and disappeared from existence upon making contact with the ground. She decided this jutsu was a success.

Hiton: False Shuriken
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By forming a quick set of hand seals, Cros will create a visual illusion of six glowing white shuriken which will be fired off one at a time at a speed of 4 in a direction of her choosing. They can travel up to 15 feet, but will disperse into nothingness on contact with anything, not being able to interact with the world in any way.

Finally, after several weeks of putting in a request for help with a new line of jutsu she was in the midst of developing, Cros had a volunteer to be her research subject. What she would be attempting was something she had been considering learning for quite some time now, but the chance to apply what she wanted just hadn't come around yet. Until now.

Cros looked at the volunteer before her. A young boy, probably only four or five years younger than herself. He likely had no idea what exactly he was getting himself into even though he was clearly somewhere within the Chuunin range of things. It mattered not, Cros thought to herself, a volunteer is a volunteer and willing subjects were necessary. Well, perhaps not for the final result of the techniques, but at least for developing them.

"I need you to start doing some hand seals." Cros said to her willing patient. She looked on as he complied without question and so she began to string together her own hand seals, based on what she had read in a a handful of books and the knowledge she had obtained from several years of experience. Having completed the hand seals, Cros reached out and touched her subjects arm. He continued to do his hand seals, completing them and letting out a pillar of flames from his mouth, which rose high into the air. She had failed and so she would continue to practice.

"Do it again."

As he began making hand seals for his jutsu again, Cros also put together a slew of hand seals. This time, she changed the chakra proportions as well as a few of the beginning seals to her desired technique. She completed her set of seals and reached out again to make contact with her targets arm. Still, no change from before. Her participant finished his hand seals and spewed another large pillar of fire into the air above them. It seems this new line of jutsu was a bit more difficult to learn than she thought it would be. Not one to be discouraged, she continued.

"Again." was all she let out.

Cros strung together her own set of hand seals, this time changing the ending pieces to something she thought might work a bit better, before she reached out to touch her volunteers arm. Suddenly, he stopped what he was doing. "What happened?" She asked him.

"I..I can't remember what I was supposed to be doing."

"You were supposed to be doing hand seals for a jutsu."

Ninpou: Task Denial
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By performing a series of hand seals and making contact with a target, Cros can cause the target to forget the action they were in the process of doing. This can be anything from doing a set of handseals, to whatever they were talking about, to other such small tasks. This can be resisted if the targets Wit is equal to or greater than Cros' control.

It was around the time that a mere Chuunin outpaced Cros in a foot race that she decided that she needed to get back into shape. Sure, they may have been an Inuzuka and sure they may have been a taijutsu specialist, but Cros had neglected her burnt and frail body for far too long now. She needed to get back into her prime. She needed to become the great and feared ninja she was long ago. Many years had come and gone since she was at her strongest. It was time to return to her roots and become stronger. Her eventual goal? To be greater than any Awai before her. In a sense, she had already achieved that. But she need more. Whether it was for the purpose of furthering the village, or Zenchou... She needed to get stronger.

Cros lifted. She had devised a makeshift training area around the back of her hut near the edge of Fire Country's border. She had chopped down several trees of varying shapes and sizes and more importantly weights. The first tree was heavy, it was true. But it was the smallest of many that she would be picking up she were to increase her physical strength even a slight bit. It would take all of her willpower and be quite exhausting, but she knew deep in her hear that she could do it. She had been through worse. That much was certain and she knew it to be true. She turned, pivoting her hips and legs whilst gripping the tree in a firm bear hug. This one in particular just happened to bes thin enough in size that she could actually wrap her arms all the way around the entire trunk. She continued with her pivot and made the journey a few yards away, carrying the tree trunk between her arms the entire way. Her destination was another tree which she had judged to be about the same size as the one she was currently in the process of hauling around.
