C Ranked Mission Contract
For Koizumi, Kuodachi and Satsui, Aikou
From Onishi, Kinzo of Konhagakure No Sato for Mamorinuku
Requesting There has being a security breach at Konoha’s Correctional Facility, this is located forty miles east of Konohagakure No Sato. During a routine update up the specialised fuuinjutsu and barrier replacements, a fault occurred meaning that some prisoners escaped. Luckily it was in the low security section so the three fugitives are of relatively low ability. You are to report to the Correctional Facility where you will be updated on the situation, from here you will need to follow their tracks. Bring them back alive. Killing them will result in failure.
Time Limit for Mission None
“Knock Knock Knock!” came a steady rasp upon Kuodachi's door at an ungodly early hour. The sun had not yet even crept over the horizon. Kuodachi was pulled from his sleep by the knocking which gave a sense of urgency from the source. For just a moment, Kuodachi thought if he ignored the noise, it might go away, but the knocking only grew harder. Conceding the battle, Kuodachi rose from his bed, his feet carrying him to the door as if in some kind of sleep walking trance. "I'm coming!" he shouted just to stop the knocking as he traversed across his home.

The irritation continued to grow until Kuodachi finally made, opening the door quickly, his eyes setting on the cloaked individual whose face was shadowed underneath a hood. “Sorry for the inconvenience.” He relinquished as he revealed a scroll. Just what Kuodachi was expected. There was really no explanation for such an intrusion outside of a mission. “Urgent mission for Mamorinuku. Gather Satsui, Aikou and head out immediately.”

With a grunt of irrational morning irritability, Kuodachi managed to give the words, “Understood. Thank you,” before the man vanished into the shadows.

Without hesitation, Kuodachi readied himself and set out for Aikou's residence. Questions jumbled through his mind about the reason for having a Genin travel forty miles outside of the village walls. What's more, it was under his own supervision. He could only guess it was part of her preparation for becoming a full fledged member in due time, and the reason for Kuodachi being the supervisor was obvious with him being leader of the team. Still, it was out of the ordinary. The mission shouldn't be too difficult, and it was a good opportunity to learn a great deal for an up and coming Shinobi.

Without hesitation, Kuodachi would avoid waking the entire home, instead turning to what he was fairly certain was Aikou's room. He'd knock on the window to get her attention, quietly, but enough to where the constant noise would likely wake her attention.

Often restless in her sleep, fighting memories and nightmares, Satsui Aikou always had a hard time sleeping. At the moment she lay half awake in her bed. She shifted under the blankets, trying to fight her bodies will to stay up with her mind's want to rest. She was just about to drift back into a slumber when a tapping came at her window. She ignored it. Birds often tapped on the panes of glass in the early morning. She thought nothing of it.

It continued though, and after half a minute she reluctantly sat up in her bed. Damned avians. She thought as she crossed the distance to her window. She would just scare it away then go back to bed. When the genin drew the curtains though, it was not a bird perched upon her window sill as she had thought. Instead she stood face to face with Kuodachi. She stared at him blankly for a moment, still in a haze of sleep. Why was Kuodachi sitting at her window so early in morning? It was not a second later that Aikou's face turned bright red and she drew the curtains shut yet again.

Satsui, Aikou was still in her underwear. She opened the curtains and exposed herself almost naked right in front of the S. Jounin. "What the hell Kuodachi-sensei?" You didn't even say anything." She yelled from inside her room, loud enough that she knew the shinobi could hear her outside. She quickly ran to her wardrobe and rifled through it. Picking up her dress and ribbons, she got dressed in record time. She was putting her hair up into a bun when she opened the curtains again, seeing the man still at her window. She sighed and unlocked the latch, swinging it open.

"Well get in then. What if someone sees you out there. How'd you get up here anyway?" The Satsui estate was rather large, being nearly a three story mansion with Aikou's room on the middle floor. Once she asked her question though, she knew the answer. Shinobi.

If any other male had done something like Kuodachi just had, Aikou would have done everything she could to beat them to a pulp. Kuo was her superior though, and over the last years or so Aikou had gotten to know him during their missions and training. He wasn't some weird, no-good boy anymore. She almost ventured to call him a friend. He got a pass on his antics every once in awhile.

Aikou sat in the chair at her desk and turned towards him. Displeasure was obvious in her face. "Well Kuodachi-sensei. Why the early wake up call?" Another question she already knew the answer to. She began strapping her gear around her hips and legs in preparation. Getting up before the sun, woken by a superior, it meant a mission. Still she asked though, expecting a briefing on the details as she finished getting ready.

The curtains drew open, drawing Kuodachi's eyes to see that which he should not have. Aikou was in her undergarments. No shielding, not nothing. It was a full view for Kuodachi in her near naked glory. He was as shocked as she was. He stared, helplessly, for just a moment. Her bright blue eyes were clearly filled with shock to see him as the source of the knocking. Without saying a word, his entire face turned blood red, jerking his head to the side as the curtains closed once more. “I'm sorry! I...” His mind was racing in a panic, “Who else would be knocking at your window?!” he yelled back, quickly following up with a quieter, “Not that it would be any of my concern...” He decided, realizing he was digging a hole that Aikou might not let him crawl out of this time, to just stop talking.

After a a few more moments, the curtains drew open once more, this time to a clothed Aikou. Kuodachi's face would still show the remnants of embarrassment. With he unlatching of the window and bid to get in, Kuodachi obliged. He was fully geared up, even carrying a backpack which was filled with provisions for their soon to follow journey. He didn't even bother to answer the question, knowing it was an obvious answer. Instead, he turned to a rambling apology, “Sorry. Figured this would be quicker, but... clearly I didn't think it through entirely. I didn't see anything... its too dark and I looked away really quick...” He was rambling, his eyes avoiding even looking at Aikou as she sat in her chair. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been this embarrassed, or even if he'd ever been this embarrassed.

Aikou's words brought him back to the matter at hand, finally bringing his eyes to look at her as he cleared his throat and opening the mission scroll, “Right. We have an urgent mission. It is imperative we head out immediately. We'll be leaving the village walls. Could take a few days, so pack accordingly. The mission is pretty simple. A few prisoners escaped the correctional facility. According to the scroll, the escapees are from the low security section, meaning nothing higher than C-rank.” At least, that was Kuodachi's hope. Anything higher could mean serious trouble. It was already going to be nerve wracking needing to ensure the safety of a Genin against potential Chuunin. Alas, desperate times call for desperate measures. It is likely out of necessity, as most Jounin have more important things to worry about.

Kuodachi seemed rather embarrassed and apologetic about what happened. He began rambling off words he probably thought would make her feel better. She chalked it up to his embarrassment and ignored it. I was best to just drop the topic and act like it never happened. At least that's what Aikou thought. If the two act like this event never occurred, then it will just go away. So the girl did not respond to his words until he began mentioning the mission. That;s when things got interesting.

Escaped prisoners?! The words flashed in Aikous mind and she momentarily paused in strapping down one of her equipment pouches. She was suddenly not so angry Kuodachi had woken her. If she got the chance to chase down a few men and hunt them like the dogs they are, she certain she'd have quite a bit of fun during this mission. Perfect, a smile formed on Aikou's face. She tied off her the shinobi headband on her thigh, just above the Mamorinuku symbol recently tattooed on her leg. She stood up now, determination in her eyes.

"Alright then Kuo-sensei, this is a mission I can get pumped for. No more baby sitting missions, we get to hunt 'real' dogs this time." She snagged the backpack near her desk and ran to her wardrobe, stuffing clothing inside it without any real care. After a second she stopped, and looked back to the S. Jounin. "No offense, of course." She said with a smile. During the year of them working together, Kuodachi was sure to notice Aikou's disdain for the male sex. She worked on trying to tone down her comments around him, though a few still slipped out. She took it upon herself to make sure he knew she wasn't talking about him though.

After gathering a few changes of clothes, and all her gear. Aikou looked around to see what else she would need. Her eyes fell on her night stand, where a scroll sat alone. She went and packed that away as well. Once done she looked at Kuodachi with a grin. "And who said girls take forever to pack, eh?" She shot him a wink. "Alright then, let's go!" she said, opening her door and starting the walk towards the front the house. After taking a single step past the doorway though, she froze. That's right Kuodachi...

"Uh, I'm so sorry to ask Kuodachi-sama. But... can you leave through the window? I mean, what if my mother or Toukiki saw you walking through the hallway? Again I'm so sorry." She said, giving a short bow. It was true though, Aikou didn't want to think what would happen if her mother saw Kuodachi leaving her room, this early in the morning without her ever knowing him arriving the day before.

Once the shinobi was out the window yet again though, Aikou would close it then quickly rush to down the stairs to the front door. She moved down the the graveled pathway towards the main Konoha road. Eager and ready for her first "real" mission. "Alright then Kuodachi. Lead the way." She called out, as she realized quickly she did not have the foggiest idea where exactly they needed to go.

Her male hating comments still caught him by surprise after so long, of course, he never showed it. Kuodachi had read the girls record thoroughly and he had spent a good deal of time together. He didn't know every detail, but he knew there was a reason for the hatred. It was likely a good one, and a very secretive one, but it was definitely there. So, when she tried to make sure Kuodachi knew she was not referring to him, he simply smiled, “None taken.” He'd developed a relationship with her over the time. By this point, she seemed to accept that he was no pig of a man.

He wanted to arrest her excitement, at least a little, but in the moment, he refrained. She had plenty of reason to be excited. She was being allowed outside the village walls on a relatively important mission. Even if it was going to be highly dangerous for her, she had every right to be excited. For now, at least until they got the journey underway, he'd let her be.

He chuckled at her comment before piping in, “You're really not an average girl though.” Then she began out her door, to which Kuodachi quickly moved from his propped position against the window seal to follow. Her sudden halt and explanation made Kuodachi's mind race once more. His face began to turn red again, “But, I am... Why would they even be up at this hour!” His complained, more for the sake of hiding his embarrassment at the thought than anything else. With a scoff to commit his conceding of any argument, he turned to head out the window. Just as he began his trek down the side of the home, he said his final words, “Meet me out front. Be quick.”
It was quick alright. He only just made the travel around the large estate when he saw her walking up the gravel path. As she gave him permission to lead, Kuodachi would chuckle at her adorable ignorance, “Its the correctional facility. We'll need to head out the east gate and its about 40 miles out. We will keep a decent pace in order to be there by midday. We are going to have to track these guys from the facility, so the quicker the better.” Ultimately, they were going to be going as fast as Aikou could handle. This was already a tough mission and only getting tougher. With every passing moment, they could be losing out on vital evidence for tracking the criminals.

Without wasting any time, Kuodachi began in the signature Ninja run towards the east gate. It wouldn't take long before they came to the gate where 2 guards were standing, ready to greet them. At this point, the sun still was not quite peeking over the horizon, but it wouldn't be long now. Kuodachi would approach the guards and reveal the mission scroll, “Koizumi, Kuodachi, Special Jounin and Satsui, Aikou, Genin. Urgent mission, code 5361123. Expecting it to take up to five days.” Essentially a checking out routine. A gaze was exchanged between the two guards followed by one stepping into the gatehouse. It was likely they found the Genin rank to be a very rare one to cross their ears. Still, they obliged the request and the gates opened for the two to pass.

Of course, as was normal, the five day estimation was a relaxed one. Kuodachi was not actually expecting it to take any longer than two, three at the most, but questions are raised when someone is out longer than their estimated time. It is just easier to give some leeway.

As Kuodachi began heading through the gate, he'd question Aikou, “This is your first real mission outside the walls. How are you feeling?”

The pace at which they traveled - Aikou knew - would be the pace that she could handle. She was slower, and had the lower endurance of the two. Forty miles was not a horribly long trek and Kuodachi's estimate of arriving by midday was not unreasonable. The genin simply hoped she wouldn't let him down on the journey, or be too tired to be worth her weight during the rest of the mission after the travel. She would just have to keep a strong will. Luckily, that was something all Konoha shinobi were known for. 'The Will of Fire' she reminded herself.

They hurried to the village gate, and upon their approach Aikou could see two guards standing post. She assumed they were both chuunin, given their age, and as that was usually the rank of shinobi on gate duty. They greeted the two arrivals and after Kuodachi stated their credentials and a cursory check, the two were through the gates and on their way.

Aikou set the pace, moving with a quick yet steady rhythm, Kuodachi staying in step as if in a flowing dance. Once they were one their way, the S. Jounin began conversation. Aikou appreciated it, as it kept her mind off the travel. Though she did not answer immediately, instead thinking the question through to give a truthful answer. Most genin would simply be excited, amped to show their skills and face challenges. Aikou was similar, the girl was wanting to prove her worth and regain her reputation as a shinobi. Expectantly, a sense of exhilaration accompanied that.

Life outside those gates is not all heroism and glory. The words crossed her thoughts from somewhere deep in her mind, in the corner of ones brain that held survival and caution above all else.

Unlike other genin of Konohagakure, Aikou had ample experience outside the high walls that protected them. She had lived outside them for almost a year, and as a result she knew the peril and uncertainty that went along with this world. She had already fallen prey to it in her life. The impact it had on her still held a grasp on her mind, infected her dreams, and stifled her body. A genin going out with thoughts of noble adventure would meet the same fate if not careful. The young girl knew this, she knew it all too well. It was that experience that built fear and worry into her now. She could not say she wasn't in doubt.

"Uneasy." She admitted. "I can not lie to myself and fill my head only with ideas of grand glory and exploit on this mission. This world holds many dangers, I know that. While I am eager to prove myself, and accomplish my duty. I do it with the understanding and acknowledgement that peril might be around the corner." She let this sink in for Kuodachi. She would not lie to him, she felt worried. He should know that. "But do not misunderstand, I will do everything to my full capability and do my best not to falter in the face of fear." She said these last words strongly, her voice unwavering.

She turned to look him now. Trying to read his reaction. He may try to offer words of encouragement or build her confidence, but she wanted to see evidence in his eyes that he was not foolish enough to be steadfast to the idea this mission could not hold unknown jeopardy. Overconfidence was dangerous, even for a Kage. "What was your mission like Kuodachi-sensei? The first one you went on outside the village?" She asked not only to pass time, but because she was actually curious. Through all their time together through the past year, she never had asked. Now though, it felt strange that she hadn't.

The pause did not go unnoticed, but to a Genin who was truly thinking the question through, a pause was more than appropriate. Kuodachi simply continued at his pace. She was keeping up well enough. As long as she could maintain, which he was fairly certain she could, they would make good time. Beyond that, there was no telling what peril this mission might hold for the two of them.

After a good while of silence, the response finally came. Admitting to hesitation in this situation was an amazing feat for a Genin. The earlier excitement did not even need to be reined in. She saw to that herself. It was very clear that Aikou was far more mature than most Genin. Perhaps the village saw this even before Kuodachi. At many times, the village had a way of knowing these things. Between his own and Cros's reports on the team, the village must have felt Aikou was ready for this rather than sending her out of sheer necessity. Kuodachi would remain silent, a smile coming to his face. Her final words came strong and that was a good sign. He'd expect nothing less from her.

When she turned to look at him, he'd be smiling. Noticing her gaze actually turning to him, he would begin his own words, “It's clear to me now why they would send you on this mission. I can think of very few other Genin who would see this experience as anything more than a fun filled adventure.” The smile faded as he spoke, “But you are right. This mission is dangerous. We are going to be tracking down criminals who will be ready to kill us without hesitation to confirm their freedom. They are well aware we will be coming, too.” With a deep sigh as they continued the pace, Kuodachi gave his final words on the matter, “You need to be vigilant, and primed for anything once we are out there. These are likely Chuunin we will be hunting down. Regardless of their deemed rank, Shinobi always have tricks up their sleeves. And these ones will be especially merciless...” Of course, the glum washing over his face would only last for a few moments before springing back to his common smile.

In truth, even Kuodachi was feeling uneasy about this one. This mission would bring serious concern for anyone assigned to it. Special Jounin or not, if it turns out they were hunting down three Chuunin, and those Chuunin decided to team up, Kuodachi's ability may not be enough. Chuunin are nothing to be trifled with. But, he didn't want to say too much and scare Aikou back to the village. This would be a pivotal moment in her career as a Shinobi, and Kuodachi was ready and willing to stand next to her in that moment.

The question raised brought back a sea of memories. He was glad Aikou kept the conversation going. It always made for the travel seeming quicker. At this point, the sun was peeking over the horizon. “The first one, huh?” he said as if contemplating. “Well, it was a C rank taken by three Genin, if you could believe it.” He chucked at how strange it sounded now. Of course, they were tailed by a Jounin, to ensure their safety, but it was still a strange occurrence. “We randomly got assigned to a mission outside the village. I didn't even know any of the other members of the makeshift squad at the time. There were reports of some people chopping down Konoha's surrounding forest using Fuuton jutsu. Was likely to be at least one Chuunin...”

The story would go on, sounding like a truly legendary mission of sorts. A story about how three Genin took down two Chuunin without even needing the help of the Jounin who was secretly following them. The amount of detail Kuodachi put into it would make it feel plenty believable, and it was a true story. At the end, however, Kuodachi would laugh a loud, cackling laugh, “I really had you along, huh? I am just messing. The mission turned out to be a dud. The culprit ended up being some senile old man, a retired Jounin. Didn't realize what he was doing. Suffered from amnesia or something like that.” It would seem very much like something Kuodachi would do, telling a long winded farce.

He ended with a more serious note, “Regardless, I will never forget my first mission. You, too, will probably remember this, no matter the outcome, forever.”

'He's smiling?' Of all the things that Aikou anticipated in result of her statements, a smile was not one that she expected. Well, at least not expected from any normal person. Kuodachi was different, the guy never stopped smiling it seemed. Aikou noticed he was always the quickest to point out the "silver lining" in things. Nothing really seemed to break his optimism. At times, Aikou found it frustrating to say the least. Now that she remembered this, she wondered why she ever expected anything but a smile from him in response. 'Sensei Happy-go-lucky' She giggled.

His words only confirmed her thoughts. Playing the hero and acting tough was going to do nothing but get them killed. Based on what they were told, added with a splash of the unknown, the two of them were going to have to stay on their toes. That meant first getting as much information as they possibly could. Knowing your enemy meant a lot when it came to preparing a strategy. Luckily, whoever these escapees were, they wouldn't have that sort of advantage. They might know some shinobi were coming after them, but she wouldn't know which ones. 'We at least have one thing going for us.' She thought. That didn't mean this still wouldn't be tough though.

Kuodachi told her a grand tale. Aikou listened intently as he wove a story of excitement and thrill. She laughed at times, worried at others, but it grabbed Aikou's imagination and sent it on a journey. That was until the end, when he set her sense of child-like wonder to crash and burn. He laughed, but Aikou scowled at him. She got played like a fool, it was not something she appreciated. Nonetheless, after a moment she turned and hid a grin. Kuodachi, was always playing the goof. One year and a promotion didn't change that. After getting to know the guy, she may not see him as a no-good male anymore, but Aikou still saw him as a no-good joke'ster. Bad jokes, horrible timing, you could rely on the S. Jounin for that at least.

"I hope the memories are good ones then. I have enough bad memories right now." She stated. "And hopefully when I tell it to my students, I won't make some grand lie like how me and a couple genin took down a group of Chuunin." She teased, sticking her tongue out at the shinobi.

Now, Aikous mind began to drift to the good memories she had. The first meeting with the team, Cros-Sensei, Shi, Uye, and of course Kuodachi. Despite Shi's horrible blunder knocking her over, and the terrifying darkness Cro-sensei created, it was a pleasant outing. Discussing each other's ambitions and motivations, she learned quite a bit from it. "The day the whole team first met. We talked about what we hoped to do in the coming years. You remember?" Aikou felt she was prying a little now, but it seemed a good question to ask given the mission they were on. "You said you planned to work on your Fuuinjutsu. Did you get anywhere with that?"

His story was taken just as he wanted it to be taken. Had he given that story, and kept it as the truth, that epic story, he assumed it would only dull Aikou's senses for the mission at hand. Perhaps he would eventually tell her it was the truth, but now was not the time for grand tales of glory and exploit. They got lucky as Genin, and it was little more than that. One wrong step could have meant their end without a moments notice. Even with a Jounin there, it was dangerous. He himself use to be a thrill seeker, ready to toy with death and not think twice about it. At the time, he was excited to be out of the village walls and to find that 'grand glory', but now, a few years later, he knew full well that the world was a dangerous an unforgiving place.

To her response, he gave his own thoughts on bad memories, complete with a filling of one of his cheesy wannabe inspirational lines, “A wise person once told me, 'forget your bad memories, for that is the easiest way to be happy.' We all have our scars. Honestly, comes with the line of work. I don't mean to make light of yours, but the future is the only thing that matters.” Of course, not one really told him that. He just made it up, but it sounded better if he pretended it came from someone else. Still, he knew Aikou was hanging onto something serious, allowing it to shape her in a sense. There was likely nothing Kuodachi could do to convince her to let it go, but he felt obligated to try. To this day, Aikou knew little of Kuodachi's past. She didn't know he use to be a very depressed and angry child with an abusive father. Then again, very few people did. He has made great effort to let the past be just that, the past. He wished everyone who experienced loss and pain in their past could end up relatively happy like he was, but he also knew that was a far fetched dream.

As the conversation took a turn, Kuodachi couldn't help but chuckle, knowing the answer almost immediately, “Not a bit!” He looked to her with a silly grin on his face. “Kind of got sidetracked on that undertaking. Might actually be the reason I got Special Jounin so quickly though. Focused my attention on areas already familiar to me and really fleshed them out to their fullest. It is my understanding that it is more difficult to make promotions when spreading out too thin.” He still fully intended to get around to Fuuinjutsu in the future. It was an art very fit to his style, one filled with in depth planning and preparation. "If I know one thing for certain, the future is a hard thing to predict. I've led many missions, without fail, my plans are forced to change every single time. Life is no different... Heh." The short chuckle came as he was thinking about his own statement and how genuinely true it was.

Still, he couldn't believe she remembered that from what felt like ages ago. Straining, he couldn't remember what Aikou had given for her answer. Instead, he returned the question in a more vague manner, “What about you? Made any progress on your goal?”

Forget your bad memories. This was something Aikou heard often. It was almost a classic statement humans liked to make. Forget about the past look to the future. Aikou didn't fully agree with that. Ignoring your past means ignoring who you are, what shaped you to be the person you've become. The balance was not letting it define you. That was the part Aikou seemed to be having trouble with. Most likely do to difficulties in knowing exactly what it was she was supposed to be forgetting. "I understand that. It's hard to do when you have no memories to forget, but dreams filled with things you don't want to remember." The moment she said this she regretted it. Her night terrors, her past and her problems were not things she liked sharing. Aikou wasn't the only one, everyone had something they were trying to hide. She had no doubt there were secrets Kuodachi held as well.

She bit her lip, slightly embarrassed now. "I'll keep what you said in mind though. Whoever told you that was a wise person."

The genin raised a brow when she heard that he had not improved his Fuuin skills. Some goals took back burner positions, but Aikou couldn't image the use and knowledge of seals being one of those things. She just had a different appreciation for the art perhaps? Either way, Aikou found this bit of knowledge amusing. "I guess I can say I'm better than you at something then. Maybe I can teach you a few things Sensei." She was teasing him again, but the comment still held some truth. The genin could very well help him hone his knowledge on Seals. Maybe even give him one of her books to read. Her mind moved momentarily to the scroll in her backpack. 'Maybe even that one.'

He didn't waste time to turn the question back on her though. Had she accomplished her goals? Her first instinct was to answer no. Her father was still held captive after all, she wasn't strong enough to save him quite yet. That goal was not fulfilled. But had she found her niche, her specialty that she could focus on? She looked down at her arms, knowing the tattoo seals that were hidden beneath her sleeves and the weapons contained within them. She had been working on her techniques with them feverishly for quite some time. "Yes and no. There are people I still want to save, people I still need to protect. But I do think I found something I'm good at, something I can focus and build upon. It's a start." She smiled reassuringly.

The two continued in relative silence after that. Luckily Kuodachi's grand tale had shaved a few hours off their travel. It didn't take much more than a couple hours to finish the rest of the trek. Aikou was able to see the top of the correctional facility break into view just a little before midday. They had made good time so far.

The site was large and foreboding. High twenty foot walls surrounded surrounding a towering six story block building. There was nothing but dim grey concrete, windows looked to be nothing but a legend around this place. Once they reach the entrance gate and Aikou could see past the wrought iron opening, she realized it was bigger than she first thought. The walls surrounded an entire complex. The largest building at the center, two smaller three story cells flanked either side. A lone single shack-looking building sat at the middle of the one hundred yard gap between the complex and the walls. Aikou could only guess at its contents. Where grass might have once been, had deteriorated away to dirt fields long ago. Tall Guard towers sat at each corner of the walls, with smaller ones dotting the lengths of the sides. As Aikou took in the full scope and magnitude of the establishment, she was in awe at how a few men could have managed to escape.

"Did they eat through the concrete?" she asked herself, unbeknownst to her at how close she had actually was. She felt a shudder as the gates stuttered open. Being in a large building filled with dangerous men unsettled the girl her to her core. Hopefully they could just get in and get out after they collected the information they needed. Aikou cast an anxious glance at Kuodachi, hoping he understood the message.

For just a moment, it almost seemed like Aikou was going to give up some information on her past. Kuodachi's ears perked at the potential, his curiosity of what she held so deep rising to the surface. As quickly as it came, the prospect left. Still, it was clear she suffered from not quite knowing what bad memories plagued her. Was it some kind of memory loss with the feelings of hated remaining? Now that was indeed something that would be difficult to let fall into the past. In a sense, she seemed to have no control over forgetting it at all.

With her quick retraction of the feelings, and an almost forced line, Kuodachi couldn't help but feel as if he had truly poked at a sensitive spot this time. Perhaps she would open up to him in due time. Perhaps not. Perhaps she didn't even possess the ability to do so. Kuodachi couldn't know for certain, but he definitely would be ready and waiting. He may not be older, or any kind of Sensei a woman felt she could bury her head into the shoulder of, but he would not allow his Genin to be plagued by their past if he could do anything to help. Even if the only thing he could do is wait with an open ear should the time arise.

He'd mumble, “Sorry.” before the conversation took its turn to a lighter topic.

He chuckled at her jesting, “Indeed. You are surely better at a few things. Just be careful about that offer, else I may just show up in your window again, wide eyed and chanting 'Fuuin! Fuuin!'” the thought only made him chuckle more.

Her answer was not entirely what he expected. Of course, he didn't remember what she had claimed to be her goal, but who did she need to save and protect? There was clearly something to the statement, but she was being too vague about it. Obviously, that was purposeful. With a shrug, he would simply return, “A good start, and you still have time. We are young after all.”

The chat would fall off as their travel continued with no real contest from either. With the destination coming closer, now was time to reflect inward before their arrival. Kuodachi, familiar with the path to the facility knew, if they kept the pace, they would be there in just a couple more hours. It did not seem quite so long, with the bulk of the journey already past. As the finally came to the facility, the entire structure in view, Kuodachi mumbled to Aikou, “Makes you wonder how, right?” He knew that would be her thought. It was unbelievable that prisoners could have escaped, and they couldn't even see the multiple barriers surrounding the facility for added security.

Then, they were at the gate as it began to open, though it was not welcoming them. If anything, it felt like a sign to turn and never come back. It was no place anyone truly wanted to be. Without even turning to see the uneasy glance, Kuodachi simply promised, “In and out. Shouldn't take long.” Followed promptly by his steps through the gate.

Luckily, orders were well delegated within the ranks. They didn't have to travel far to find their contact. As soon as they crossed the gate, Kuodachi's eyes picked up on a figure exiting the tower to the right. An older gentleman, but a beefy one. His uniform hugged his bulging muscles and Kuodachi half expected them to rip through. Further, he looked to be well over six feet tall, a rarity in the area. Despite his amble body size, his hair was gray and his face even sported deep and obvious wrinkles across his face. As he approached the two, gravely words reached their ears, “They sent us the shrimp again! What do I have to do to get some respect around here?!” The words came with an air of familiarity. The insult was met with a smile from Kuodachi as he took a few steps to meet the bulky man, “Good to see you, Kinzo.”

The old man's eyes redirected to Aikou, before some more grating words came, “And who's this?”

The girls apprehension about the facility was two fold. The sheer amount of testosterone that would surely be enveloping it, and the mere thought of being inside such a large, unknown place. These two things combined to set Aikou on edge, make the hairs on the back of her neck stand tall. Kuodachi's words were a small comfort. 'In and out.' Good, she hoped not to spend very much time here at all. The man's statement helped ease her churning stomach to some degree. She followed His lead through the gate.

A large, burly man was already on his way to their position from the right tower. His six foot plus frame bulged with muscle to the point were it appeared his clothes strained to hold their seems. His age did not detract from his dangerous appearance. 'Testosterone levels, off scale.' She thought, as the man finally came within ear shot of the pair. Kuodachi seemed to be familiar with the guy, and Kinzo him. They shared a bit of banter before his cold eyes fell on Aikou. She could feel them trying to pierce through her as the man seemed to size her up. It didn't look like he was satisfied.

“And who's this?” His words came heavy and sharp, Aikou did not flinch.

"Satsui, Aikou. I'm Kuadoachi's partner for the mission." She didn't offer to shake his hand, Aikou didn't like the idea of the man trying to crush her fingers in some egotistical display of might. Instead she got right to the point, as she always did. "It would be best to get briefed as soon as possible. The more time we spend out here exchanging pleasantries, the further your escapees will get." She said the line carefully, not hiding the implication the fugitive's unintended release were Kinzo's responsibility as much as theirs. Aikou assumed the size and experience this man had, would make most show him humble appeasement and fearful respect. She was not most people, and she did not back down from any man, despite their power.

Kinzo raised a brow in response to Aikou. He obviously did not expect such a retort as the genin had given. After a moment though he gave a small grunt. Aikou wasn't sure if it was one of admiration for her hubris, or simple displeasure. She didn't care either way. "Very well then, this way." He waved them to follow as he turned, making way to the large complex at the middle of the walls. She fell in step behind with some difficulty. The man's size made his stride far larger than Aikou's. Nonetheless, she managed.

"Friend of yours?" She asked, looking over to Kuodachi. Kinzo would most likely here her, she wasn't concerned if he did.

Kuodachi knew what was coming following Kinzo's question. A blunt, straight to the point answer from the girl. Sure enough, that was the response. It was interesting to hear her introduce herself as his partner rather than a student. He would wait a moment to see the old man's response, a small smirk coming to his face following his grunt reply. Shaking his head, with a small chuckle, Kuodachi would fall in behind the large man. In response to Aikou's question, Kuodachi would respond with a question directed at Kinzo, “I don't know. What do you think, Kinzo? We friends?”

The hoarse voice came from over Kinzo's shoulder, “Not if you keep calling me Kinzo, especially if anyone else hears you.” There was a distinct air of seriousness to his words. He added, “That goes for you too, princess. It's Onishi.” Kuodachi knew the man had an image to maintain, and if a young man walked around calling him by first name, that image is deteriorated. Still, Kuodachi found the irritation it caused the old man funny. In truth, they were acquaintances at best. He'd worked with the man a few times in the past whenever things went awry at the facility. Kuodachi was very good at capturing people alive. It was the main reason he was often picked for these assignments. Still, despite his gruff appearance, the man was surprisingly caring and helpful. He also ran a pretty decent operation. It just took awhile to realize that, and Aikou, given her state of mind, probably would never recognize that.

The man would lead them into the facility to a series of rooms on the left when they first entered. It was a hallway lined with what could essentially be deemed administrative offices. Two doors down on the left, he'd lead them to a room with a sign on the outside reading,
“Onishi, Kinzo
Chief Warden”

As he lead them to their destination he would start their brief, “I know you don't care about the details on their escape, only their files and the initial trail, so I will keep it simple. On the south side, we have marked just that. About 2 miles south of the southern barricade, we marked the last known location before we lost their trail. As you know, we want them alive. The only real option they have, by design, is that damn village to the south of here.” He paused to hail a passing coworker before continuing on to more specifics about the prisoners, “The escapees are two C-rank criminals, prisoners 6424 and 6425, and one D-rank, prisoner 8661. It is important to note that they may very well be working together. The two C-ranks are good friends, got locked up together about a year back. A real duo they are. One is a complete imbecile, but built like a boulder. The other is more of the brain of their blasted operations, real scrawny guy. They could easily have conscripted 7661 into their folly.”

Upon reaching the office, Kinzo would fumble through a couple scrolls, “Where'd I put those damned files?” He'd question out loud before finally finding them with an “Ah! Here we are.” He'd toss them, one at a time, towards the two. Kuodachi would catch two. “Everything you could possibly want to know about the three.”

with the breif over, Kuodachi bowed lightly, “Thank you, Onishi. We'll see ourselves out.” Almost immediately, Kinzo responded, “Koizumi, move fast. I don't want this to turn into anymore of a headache than it already is.” He'd answer with a smile and some cocky words, “You worry too much! We'll be back in a few!” Of course, it was little more than a stoic display. The mission was one that caused him a good deal of anxiety. A pair of Chuunin and potentially a third Genin? Numbers meant a great deal. They would need to be highly alert. After all, a surprise attack could easily mean the end, no matter the rank.

As they walked, Kuodachi continued to poke at Kinzo with his jokes. The man didn't think them funny, and instead insisted he stop using his first name. The older man's comment at Aikou brought a scowl to her face. 'Princess? She bit the inside of her cheek as she restrained her urge to make a remark, thinking it better just to let it slide. The less time they spent here the better, that meant not wasting time to argue with petty men, no matter how much she wanted to take Onishi, Kinzo down a notch.

They entered the building rather easily. Onishi led them to the left down the hall, and into a large office. "Chief Warden" could easily be seen on the wall be the door outside. So this man wasn't just some blockhead, he was 'the' blockhead. Once inside the office, Onishi began his brief. Aikou listened intently. What she heard unsettled her. The girl was hoping these three men would have only banded together through opportunity and necessity. If two of them were friends, that posed a large problem. You can't divide and conquer if they're stuck at the hip.

She caught one of the scrolls that sailed towards them. She held in her fist as she waited for the brief to end. Once it looked like they were free to go, Aikou turned. Kuodachi and Kinzo make a few last remarks while the girl made her leave in silence. She strode through the doorway and hung right, heading towards the exit. 'Disrespectful goat. He fucks up and has the gall to insult us?' Aikou fumed as she strode away. She didn't like that man, his authority and rank be damned. Though all this might simply be Aikou's prejudice showing, she didn't realize it.

She didn't worry about getting lost, their route was pretty straight forward. Once outside the large complex and in the open light, she would open the scroll in her hand and begin reading it contents. She slowed her pace towards the gate they had come in from, giving Kuodachi time to catch up to her.

Once the S. Jounin had joined her, she would begin talking. "Prisoner 6425. Twenty-four years old. C-Rank criminal. Looks like he was imprisoned for high crimes against the shinobi state, they don't give specifics though. Onishi was right, he's damn smart. Evaluation put him at a one sixty-three IQ. Psych evalution also says he's under acute paranoia. Highly suspicious, jittery in actions and mind. 'Could be a potential danger to himself and others'. Great. He must have orchestrated the escape." She stopped suddenly, peering at the walls all around her. She really couldn't see how these guys managed to get out, even if the seals were down. The man coverage they around here was pretty squared away. It doesn't mean its impossible though, obviously. "6424 i'm guessing is the muscle-man. The smart ones usually keep a guy like him around. Means they're gonna be together. What do yours say?"

She would look at Kuodachi then, pulling her eyes from the high walls. There was something that unsettled Aikou about this whole mission. Like there was something they were missing, something they weren't being told. She didn't like it, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling. For now she would simply ignore it, keep herself focused on the task at hand. That was the most important thing right now.

After the final exchange between the two, Kuodachi would jog lightly to catch up with the quickly leaving Aikou. Soon as they were back out of the gates, he'd wait while Aikou perused through her scroll. He was curious what she would pick up. She had prisoner 6425. Smart guy, C-rank. Paranoia.

With her evaluation complete, Kuodachi rolled open one of his own scrolls, 6424. Aikou guessed correctly, the muscle man. “Yep, 6424 is the muscle man for sure. C-rank criminal due entirely to his physical strength. Seriously, this guy is a bag of muscle, and that is pretty much it. Easily confused, and even more easily angered. A dangerous combination to be sure. No ability to use chakra.” Still, even without chakra, this guy was a genuine beefcake. A walking powerhouse that could likely match even a jounin in a purely physical test. He was likely the most dangerous of all three due mostly to the unpredictability of his type. No brains makes it horribly difficult to follow. “6425 can probably manipulate this guy to do his muscle work. What does it say about 6425's capabilities apart from his intelligence?” The question was, how might he be manipulating? Did he just know the meat head well enough, or was it something else? Kuodachi was wary of the question. He knew that anyone could be manipulated into doing whatever the use wanted with the correct use of Genjutsu. He hoped, for their own good, it was not Genjutsu.

After the question, he'd move on to examining the D-rank. “15 years old, nothing too spectacular. Seems his focus is in close range combat. Reserved personality, never associated much with any other prisoners. Claims to hear voices in his head that told him to kill his brother.” A perfect candidate for Aikou to test her skills. An intriguing thought. Perhaps he could really see how much Aikou has been training. Keeping the thought to himself, he continued, “Doesn't seem likely he would work with the other two. Probably just happened across the opportunity and took it. Still, given 6425's ability to influence, we may just end up running into a trio of criminals...” The thought made a tingle run up his spine. Given the three in scroll format, it was not a situation Kuodachi wanted to find themselves in.

With the discussion about the criminals closing, Kuodachi would shrug, “Lets get to tracking then.” Before setting off around the walls to the south end. He'd come across some orange rope tied to a tree. It was the marker for sure. Delving right into the surrounding forest without delay, he'd follow the string seemingly sporadic orange rope to their termination. “Tell me Aikou, you have much experience with tracking?” he would question as he knelt down in the dry dirt, scanning the area with intense scrutiny. Truth be told, Kuodachi did not have a great deal of experience. He'd done it a few time on various missions out of necessity more than anything else. Still, he was generally able to deduce what happened, as long as the area was not horribly disturbed.

After a couple of moments, he'd turn his gaze to Aikou, “What do you see here?”

Kuodachi's summary of 6424 was the opposite of what Aikou was hoping for. While a dumb muscle head wouldn't be hard to out smart and out maneuver, his astute lack of intelligence meant 6425 would certainly be able to manipulate him however he wished. The two would be sticking together. That spelled quite a bit of trouble on Aikou's initial plans. They would have to come up with a new strategy for those two. Which meant figuring out how to possibly separate them. If that couldn't be done, they would have to stage an ambush. "The two of them together means problems. We'll have to think of a trap to spring on them." She sated, while scanning through 6425's profile again. Her attention was grabbed by a few lines she hadn't noticed before, a groan escaped her lips. "And a good one.

"It looks like 6425 isn't your normal smart ass. He isn't using Genjutsu to get what he needs. Something far worse. What goes hand in hand with great intellect, manipulation, a god complex, and massive paranoia? She asked Kuodachi, hoping he'd fill in the blanks without her having to say it out loud. Still the words jumped through her mind with gut wrenching fear. This wasn't something she had fought before, and something they never went into any sort detail about in the academy. 'Ijutsu Poisons

At least the last guy meant a bit of good news. If the first one was smart as Aikou hoped, he would know the divide and conquer method would be his advantage. Having three escapees traveling together meant that finding one of them, spelled doom for the rest. The third guy was most likely added into the escape plot through necessity or opportunity. Now outside, he'd be tossed aside. Used to grab the attention of the hunting team and give the other two more time. Aikou doubted the three of them would be all together, if they were, they would all be stupider than even 6424's profile says he is.

They set off to pick up the trail. They headed toward the south wall, hoping to see a starting point. Aikou took this moment to share her thoughts. "I don't think the three of them will tag together. Splitting up is the best option. It would force us to split up as well, or focus on a single target at a time, giving them better chance of escape. 6425 and 6424 will probably be a pair though. I doubt he'd want to lose his bodyguard. The D-Rank will almost certainly be on his own. He'd be a liability, and shunned out. We can take the easy threat first, or the harder one. Your choice." She let him think over the decision as they moved. She didn't care either way, she just wanted to make sure they were on the same page.

They spotted a rope dangling from a tree rather quickly. "Never had to track before no." She said honestly. Aikou wasn't the hunter type. She didn't have that sort of knowledge. She knelt down like Kuodachi, examining the area. Whatever the S. Jounin was seeing, Aikou wasn't sure. She could only point out the obvious. "Uh, footprints. Lots of them. I'm guessing they passed through here, but so did the Facility guards. They trampled through this in the initial failed pursuit I'm guessing. Am I supposed to be seeing something?" She asked, rather embarrassed she wasn't as good at this as she should have been.

Kuodachi nodded, “Mmm.” both of them together would be a hazard. Yet, they would undoubtedly be together. Not only that, but given the intelligence of 6425, it would likely be horribly difficult to separate them. He was smart enough to stay one step ahead, and he would be suspecting a separation attempt. This was going to be... frustrating.

As Aikou came back with an explanation of the means to controlling such a giant, Kuodachi shook his head as he muttered the word, “Poison.” Kuodachi was familiar with Iijutsu poison. His friend had gone all the way through medic school, yet only having a limited familiarity made the topic all the more fearful. He'd heard of poisons that could take your sight by breathing in the air, or ones that could stop your chakra use all together. And now, apparently ones that yielded some kind of control over the individual. They were a terrifying prospect.

He listened as they made their way to the last known location. He was proud of Aikou. She had the entire picture of the situation down perfectly. Kuodachi felt that, at least partially, it was a product of his constant contemplation during missions that were even quite simple. It made him smile to see how far Aikou had come over the time he'd been with her. He could see why teachers were often so in love with their job.

Aikou's deduction of the area was not bad for a first time attempt. Actually, it was quite good. She had the basic view down. “Good. You are right, of course, but tracking is more than discerning the evident indications. Have to put your mind in the head of the prey.” The words came as he continued to survey the area. At this point, he was not just squatting, but moving around, checking various things. The question playing through his mind, 'If I were these prisoners, what would I do?' It was difficult to separate what was done by the fool guards and what was done by the prisoners. Snapped twigs, shoe prints... they were meaningless. That is when he found the vital clue, a shoeless footprint. Following the trail, he picked up on more signs to the west. Smooth, loose dirt, still defiled by guard prints. Onward the trail went until Kuodachi had all the information he needed.

“The rope was likely used as a distraction. Draw the attention of the tracking group upward while they defiled the little evidence left underfoot.” Smart move, 6425. 6424 cant use chakra, so they are not going to be running through trees. Not to mention, it was hanging from a branch that likely wouldn't even have held the big guy, a move done in a rush. “All three are still together at this point. 6524 is barefoot. Should make the trail clear once we pick it up again.” They jutted to the east, but would undoubtedly continue the path south. They had nowhere else to go, no other options.

Kuodachi set out in a quick pace, his eyes scanning for any other signs. Past this point, there were only animals and their prey. Signs would be easier to follow without the meddling of the prison tracking team. Sure enough, it was not long before Kuodachi stopped again, scanning the ground. He had the trail. Past this point, it was clear sailing. They did their ploy to lose the guards already. Of course, they might try it again, but Kuodachi was no mass of prison guard trackers. He'd keep this trail.

Once again, he came to another stop, this time he spoke up, “This is where they split.” He began a series of handseals as soon as the words left his mouth. It was clear. Small footprints of a young man one way, two sets of footprints, including the print of a massive, shoeless foot another way. What was unsettling was that, "D-rank is bleeding." The D-rank would be traveling faster as a solo ninja, even if he was not actually faster. He was alone, and didn't have a chakraless person slowing him down. Of course, that theory also depended on his injury. Instantly, Kuodachi made his decision, and answer to Aikou's previous thoughts, “D-rank first.” As soon as the seals finished, a shadow clone would poof into existence. It would proceed down the trail of the two, while the real Kuodachi set off on the D-ranks trail. Now, he was moving faster than before. He knew things were getting dire. It was hard to know how far they had gone past this point, but Kuodachi didn't want to take any chances.

With the prospect of a fight at their finger tips, Kuodachi began strategy. He didn't believe this D-rank would be much trouble alone, but he proceeded into a brief anyways. Unfortunately, as much as Kuodachi wanted to use this to see how much Aikou has grown, he knew they couldn't afford to lose any time. “This will be quick. Plan revolves around catching him in a barrier. He'll likely be helpless then. Following that, we break his fingers, and tie him to a tree. We'll come back and fetch him once we get the other two.” The thought crossed his mind on how horrible it would be if they didn't return, but it was the best course of action Kuodachi could think of for the time. It would be senseless to drag him along. Ultimately, he only intended to incapacitate all three and send Aikou back to get some burly guards to drag them back. “I want you to keep his attention so I can trap him.”

Finally, Kuodachi would slow his pace, “We're close.”

Jutsu UsedShow
*[Ninjutsu • Advanced Shadow Clone Technique]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed handseals, the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but they will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for stamina, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect. The advantage of this form of the technique is that once dispersed, the chakra distributed to the clones returns to the user, allowing any un-used chakra to be regained, slowing the draining usage of this technique. The chakra returns to the user at a different rate depending on the user's control.

[Graded]They Used Spoons!

Post by Shikon » Thu Sep 03, 2015 11:49 pm

The girl listened as Kuodachi went through the description of the area. Using a rope as an "indicator" to throw off anyone going after them was rather smart. No wonder the prison guards couldn't get very far when trying to hunt them all down. Luckily it appeared that Kuo had some reason tracking skills, they could have fallen for the same ploy. The S. Jounin continued, pointing out that one of them was barefoot. Aikou raised a brow at this and peered downward, and sure enough she could see large human prints. Now that he pointed out the fact, it was much easier to notice of course, but the sheer size of them made Aikou wonder exactly how big this Prisoner 6524 really was. 'This guy is a monster'. THough she didn't have much time to think about it, they were off again, following the trail.

They moved at a quick pace, moving deeper into the trees. By this point, all the guard tracks had disappeared, 6525's tactic having gotten them off their tail. It wasn't long until Kuodchi stopped once again. Within a few seconds he was making some handseals as he spoke. "He's bleeding?" Aikou asked, a bit shocked. She couldn't see why they would injure the guy. The faster he went and stronger he was, then the longer they had to chase and fight him, giving 6524 and 6525 more time. So why hurt him? Unless it was an accident. Though Aikou thought there was more to it. More than likely the guy wanted to stick with the pair, stay together, safety was felt in numbers. But 6525 would know that would only lower their chances to escape. The injury was most likely a result of forcing the third party to leave on his own. She just didn't know the extent to his injury.

Kuodachi decided to go after him first. Sending his clone the other way, the pair took off after the lone escapee. A planned was formed as they moved. Aikou being the distraction, Kuodachi trapping him with a barrier. It sounded good to her. She took the lead, if she was the distraction, it was best for her to be seen should the guy set a trap of his own. She started slowing her pace as they got closer, making as little noise as possible. She landed on a large branch just as something caught her eye. When Kuodachi would land beside her she'd hold out an arm, stopping him.

Her voice was a whisper, barely audible even to herself. "Left, ten o'clock. He seems to be clutching his left forearm." Aikou studied her prey a moment. She could see the distinct outline of a figure moving through the foliage with a slight stumble. He was indeed holding his arm, but why that would effect his walking pace and balance, she wasn't quite sure. "I'll grab his attention from behind. You go set up a vantage point to spring your trap." She looked at Kuodachi, giving a strong nod. She was ready for this, he didn't have to worry about her.

Once he was gone, Aikou would make a single seal, releasing two of the tattoos on her forearms. The kunai dropped into her hand silently. She pulled one out testing the wire that was tied to it. It was still strong an sharp as ever. If she needed to, Wrapping him in the wires would hold him still enough for Kuodachi to make the barrier. How fast or how strong this guy would be, Aikou wasn't sure. His file said he was a close range fighter, so she knew he was going to try to close the distance quickly. She had to react quickly should that happen. Luckily she had a few things in her bag of tricks to handle something like that.

'Alright then. Here's the moment of truth.' She thought to herself, as she waited. She wanted to give Kuodachi enough time to get himself set before she made her move.

“Mm. Its not too bad, judging by the amount of blood, but its a steady flow.” Kuodachi could think of a few reasons to injure the D-rank. It would insure, almost without a doubt, that he would be the first one hunted down. An injured prey was an easy one to follow, making it the logical choice for efficiency. That would buy them some time to make their trail harder to follow. Yet, that was already an event with decent certainty to it. It could have simply been a situation gone wrong. D-rank wants to tag along, C-ranks don't want him to. Argument leads to injury. Simple explanation. Regardless of the reason, they had the plan now. The prospect of 6525 having planned this far ahead made Kuodachi nervous all the same.

As Kuodachi landed, he'd stop, partially due to Aikou's signal, and partially due to hearing the noise himself. “Mm.” He's quietly affirm his knowledge. Left forearm... Seemingly disoriented given his troubles moving... Kuodachi immediately developed a suspicion, but it was a needless one. Still, he made it known in a faint whisper, “Might be poisoned. Who knows with what.” Then, moved to what he knew he didn't have to, “Keep it safe.” He'd say the words as he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder before he was gone. He'd move around, silently and staying in the trees, to the left flank where he would post up in a high branch of a large tree. If their prey was the clock, Aikou was at 6 and Kuodachi would be at 10. It was here he would wait for Aikou to make her move.

His heart pounded with anxiety as he waited. The target's outline just scarcely discernible through the leaves, he waited to see Aikou, the source of his anxiety. He knew she could handle this, yet he couldn't help but feel anxious. With 6525's poison knowledge, there was no way of telling what the prey might be infected with. Something lurked deep in Kuodachi's mind. Something was not sitting right. The more and more he thought about the situation, poison seemed reasonable to be causing the signs both Aikou and Kuodachi are seeing. There was a plan here. Something dark. Kuodachi watched on full alert, ready to move at a moments notice. In a single leap, he'd be in range with his jutsu.

She waited, giving Kuodachi what she felt enough time to settle into a position. Once she felt everything was set, a strange calm set over the area. For a moment, it felt as if nothing moved, time frozen still like the jumping of a needle on a record. A small second of nothingness. Then, as quickly as it came, it was gone. The leaves rustled again, Aikou breathed, and the wind caught through her hair. She was ready now, or at least as ready as she could be. Unfortunately for her, she was very wrong, she was not ready for what would happen next.

She dropped down from the tree, landing quietly in the grass below. Dashing forward, the girl threw the kunai in her right hand on a collision course with the prisoner's ankle. At the last second, the guy moved, sidestepping in a flash, and dodging the weapon. He had turned himself towards Aikou now. Legs spread apart, arms and head dangling downward as if he was sleepwalking. Long matted hair hung down in front of his face, obscuring it from Aikou's sight. But on his arm, the girl could see a green splotch near the wrist. The veins moving up his arm where bulging, and had the same sickly green tint. She didn't need any time to guess the cause for his injury now. Poison.

This set things back in Aikou's head a few steps. 6525's poisons could do a lot, and if this guy was under the effect of one, he would be completely unpredictable for the most part. She had to be wary, play this all smart and try to set an opening for Kuodachi. She didn't have much time to think about her move though, as the prisoner was already in the middle of his. He ran forward, a straight line at Aikou in a fast blur. He moved at amazing pace, whatever that poison did to his mind, Aikou didn't know; but it sure as hell was boosting his physical abilities. Her kunai was already back in her hand, thanks to the wire tied to the end. She set herself and was ready to channel chakra into her body when she saw it.

The man's head came up, hair falling away as he covered the fifty yards between the two of them. Aikou saw his face. His eyes were bloodshot and crazed, his veins sickly green, and his mouth curled into an animalistic snarl, but she still recognized it. It was a face she could never forget in a thousand life times, and she froze. Starring blankly, shocked and bewildered as he rushed her. She felt a fist slam into her sternum, sending her flying backwards and crashing to the ground. Kunai flying from her hands, and stars forming in her eyes, she laid there for a second before snapping back to reality.

She jumped to her feet, catching her blades as they made their return journey. She couldn't believe her eyes, didn't want to believe what her brain was telling her. But she had to accept it, that he was now standing in front of her. Crazed and furious, ready to rip her limb from limb. Someone she thought she'd never have to face again. Kataru the name flashed in her mind. But she forced it away. Seeing him as a person, was something she promised herself she would never do again. He was a dirty, worthless dog, a liar, a mockery of the human race; he was a man.

Aikou gripped her kunai tightly in her hands. 'Come here you damn trash.' just as she thought the words, he rushed her again. He was fast, much faster than she, but that wasn't a huge problem for Aikou. She formed a single seal, transferring a drop of chakra in the tattoos on her her arms and positioned them in front of her body. As her target closed the distance, she activated the seals, sending the kunai stored inside bursting forward, then launching the two in her hand immediately afterward. The five kunai impaled him as he charged forward, but never seemed to slow him down. He was back in front of her in an instant, swinging another fist towards her face. She barely had time to roll to the side to avoid injury.

She rose to her feet, moving behind her target, to his right side. She began building chakra in her body as she moved preparing for a time she'd need it. He turned to meet her, swinging a leg out with ferocious strength as he followed through with the strike, spinning and sending another kick right afterward. Aikou managed to jump over the first attack on instinct, clearing his leg as she moved her body horizontal. For once, she was glad she had conditioned and trained into a Taijutsu expertise. She may not be faster than him, but she seemed to have the training to fair easily enough. The second kick she wouldn't be able to dodge though, as she hovered mid air, his foot raced towards her face. She released the stored chakra then, sending out a powerful shockwave that slammed into her foe. He stuttered backward a step from the force, but not nearly as far as AIkou had hoped. She managed to stop the kick, though as he brought it down to steady himself as Aikou landed to her feet.

This was all she needed, everything was already in place. The five Kunai that hit their mark were still stuck into his body. After having rolled to dodge his punch, moving behind and beside him, her wires were weaving a web about his body. He did the rest for her, turning to attempt a kick, and spinning for a second assault. Aikou's wires were now fully wrapped about his arms an torso multiple times. She pulled taught, bringing her arms back and tightening the grip around his body. As she did so, she felt the pain in her chest. The girl coughed, spewing out blood onto the grass. The first hit did more damage than she thought. But for now, she was holding strong. She simply hoped that Kuodachi would take the chance to spring his barrier. He struggled against Aikou's wires for now, but she didn't think she would be able to hold him more than ten seconds longer.
JutsuShow
*[Ninjutsu • Grouping Chakra Kai]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Ninjutsu • Chakra Kai]
By utilizing the fundamentals of Chakra Kai, this jutsu allows the user to activate multiple seals at a single time rather than needing to cast multiple uses of Chakra Kai. This can only be used on the same seal, meaning the user can't activate three different seals, but s/he can activate up to three of a single seal with this jutsu. This technique's range depends on the type of Chakra Kai used to activate it.

[Ninjutsu • Chakra Bloom
C-Ranked Nintaijutsu
Prerequisites: Ninjutsu • Chakra Burst
A technique utilizing raw chakra, and Chakra Burst technique's main principle to create a defensive technique rather than an offensive one. The user will channel chakra throughout their body, and then release it in one large burst. This creates a concussive force that radiates from the user to range up 5 meters. The blast created is equal to a strength of 5. This technique can blast back anything affected by chakra or concussive force, to include projectiles and weaker shinobi. Though it requires precise timing, and often used as a panic button by ranged fighters attempting to push back a target attempting to get into close range.

*Ballistic Summons
C-Rank Fuuinjutsu
Prerequisite: [Storage: Minor Weapon]
Unlike the average summoning jutsu for most weapons, this summoning technique is itself an attack. Whatever weapons were stored within the seal are launched forcefully in the direction the seal is aimed at a Speed of 6 when chakra is channeled through it. The weapons travel up to 10 meters before falling to the ground.

As Aikou grabbed the prisoner's attention, Kuodachi moved lower in the tree to get a better view. With the attention turned and being officially in his flank, he didn't have to worry as much about being seen. With the closer view, Kuodachi confirmed his suspicions, spotting the green area. That was not good. Still, he remained perched on the branch, silent and watching. Aikou just needed to distract him long enough for Kuodachi to trap him. His heart beat like a drum as his worry for his student grew.

A dodge professing prowess beyond the usual D-rank criminal only heightened the concern. The poison was definitely boosting. It was likely meant to force any pursuers to waste more time, and allow the C-ranked prisoners more time to run. Still, even seeing this, Kuodachi remained stoic and unmoving. He had to trust in Aikou's skill. Of course, that was made all the more difficult when he watched a single blow send Aikou backward. Why didn't she move! It was unlike her. Something was wrong. Yet, he had to wait! His barriers, while they formed quickly, would probably form too slowly to trap the boosted D-rank. This had to be clean, and he had to conserve as much chakra and stamina as he could for the C-ranks. 'Come on Aikou. Get up.' he thought as his teeth grit together hard.

Of course, seeing Aikou back on her feet didn't really bring relief as he continued waiting for an opportune moment. He jumped silently to another branch, a little closer. As the next powerful punch was sent towards Aikou, Kuodachi's teeth grit harder. But, luckily, it seemed Aikou had her mind back. 'Good. Keep your head up, eyes on your opponent.' he silently prodded her onward, as if training. Another dodge, then, halting a devastating kick with a last ditched attack! Good! That was it! Kuodachi saw everything, ready for the moment. Pushing with all the effort he could manage, he began weaving the signs midair. As soon as the wires pulled tight, the barrier would begin to spring up around the momentarily incapacitated escapee. It was enough, the barrier being completed in just a moment. This barrier would not be broken. Even with his drug enhanced strength the walls would hold.

Continuing his momentum, he'd move to Aikou, kneeling down. That first strike really did a toll on her, and Kuodachi could see it. “Take it easy, now. He got you pretty good on that first hit. How do you feel?” Meanwhile, loud thumps could be heard coming from the barrier, futile attempts to break free.

She didn't have to hold him long, Kuodachi sprung into action then. The barrier of blue chakra bounding upward and surrounding the target. He bashed against the side and yelled, but he was held there. Which was good, Aikou let out an exasperated sigh and fell to her knees. Kuodachi was already kneeling beside her by the time she felt the pain rise in her chest again. "I think I'll be okay, just a little bruise." She said this with a half assed smile, as it was all she could muster before coughing again. More spots of blood hit the grass. She frowned.

"Just... Just get him me away from him okay." She waved a hand at the prisoner they managed to trap. By this time, Kuodachi would have probably noticed that Aikou was keeping her eyes away from the prisoner, seemingly refusing to look at him. Which was true, she could not bring herself to look the guy in the eyes, to stare him in face and not have some sort of psychotic break of an emotional reaction. So she focused her attention on her breathing. In, and out, in and out, over and over to keep her mind occupied and her eye's down.

She felt something wrong with the mission. She didn't expect this though, she didn't expect this in her entire lifetime, let alone today. It was something she never thought she'd have to face, a confrontation she ever have to fight. One of those, water under the bridge moments, so to speak. Of course inside she knew, that one day this would happen. It was far too soon right now though, she wasn't ready to see him. Wasn't ready to hear any words that come from his mouth. Luckily for her, whatever poison was taking its toll in his veins made him far too crazed to say anything. All he was doing was beating against the barrier in futility. It began matching Aikou's breathing. In, thump, and out, thump, in, thump, and out thump.

"Do you have water?" By now, Aikou's mouth was bone dry. Between the focused breathing, the fight, the chase. She was thirstier than all hell, and needed something to settle her stomach which was now feeling like a congealed mass. Between the crushing pain in her chest, the nauseating feeling in her body, or the emotional dam that was near to breaking inside her mind, Aikou wasn't sure which was worse at the moment. Probably the dam, her mind built it there instinctively, not Aikou herself. If it breaks, she doesn't know what will come flooding out. "I need a moment to sit down."

Kuodachi frowned as he saw the second cough of blood. “Easy, he will be taken care of in just a moment.” He said, moving to embrace her. Should she allow it, he'd simply pick her up and move her to rest at a close by tree. Mostly, he just needed to move her a little further away from the barrier before he executed his plan, but having a tree to support her would probably also be an invited aspect of the move. He'd set her against the tree facing away from the barrier.

With her request for water, Kuodachi would, of course, hand her his flask. “Drink as much as you need. Just rest. This will only take a moment.” His eyes looked at her with a degree of sadness, but there was a great rage deep down. He'd truly never felt the same ire as he did in this moment. Something about seeing Aikou truly injured sparked something truly furious. He could tell there was something between the two. A past of some nature. A bad one. That only further infuriated him. Though, he kept his rage suppressed quite well, perhaps his mind was not entirely operating on the same level.

As he walked towards the barrier, the thumping continuing, his hands moved to create a seal. In the next moment, relative silence was shattered by the sound of a massive explosion. The shock wave would be felt by Aikou, but most of the blast with these barriers was directed to its contents. In this case, the d-rank criminal. In the next moments, as the dust cleared, it left a broken, drugged out d rank criminal crumbled in hits wake. A bloodied mass of flesh. He still lived, but he would undoubtedly never be the same.

With quick steps forward, Kuodachi approached the figure. The d-rank was unconscious. No amount of drugs could prevent that. Additionally, Kuodachi noticed that the bulging veins seemed to be subsiding. Still, Kuodachi leaned down, grabbing one of his hand. In a quick motion, he snapped the thumb, causing it to twist in a horribly unnatural way. The sickly sound rang through the area, likely even reaching Aikous ears. He'd do the same with the other thumb. It was likely an unneeded precaution, as he didn't expect he was in any condition to do much of anything, but Kuodachi was never one to take chances. With that done, Kuodachi proceeded to bind both his feet and his hands. Prisoner 8661, captured. His condition was not critical, but he'd definitely need some medical attention as soon as they got him back to the prison.

Finishing this, he moved back towards Aikou's side with quiet steps before asking as he came to the tree she was hidden behind, "Do you want to come with me for the other two, or rest here?" She did not need to watch over the prisoner, as this guy was beyond done, but Kuodachi did not want to push her any harder. That fight did its toll on her, more than Kuodachi expected. So, he decided to give her the option of sitting out. An error in his own judgement had left Aikou injured. If they were not charged with bringing them back alive, something told Kuodachi this one wouldn't be making it back. The thought was a scary one for Kuodachi. It was as if a truly vicious animal was scratching for the surface, ready to kill. Yet, generally, Kuodachi saw killing as a very last resort.

As someone who was adamantly against having anyone touching her, let alone a male, Aikou didn't have much of a reaction when Kuodachi wrapped his arms around her. The feeling was one of comfort, or of an enveloping smother, she wasn't sure which. It didn't last long enough for her to figure out either, as the shinobi set her against a tree restricting her sight to the barrier, and the captive held within its contents. What she could see though, was Kuodachi's eyes. Inside them was a sea of sadness. Aikou did not like this. Firstly she didn't want to see someone she felt - almost certainly - as a friend, to be sad. Secondly, she was revolted at the idea of eyes being cast at her in pity. She spent the last few years of her life working to ensure she was not perceived as an object of pity. Something to feel sorry for, and she hated that Kuodachi looked at her like that now.

She was far to emotionally mixed up in her head to protest about it though, and accept his flask silently instead.

As Kuodachi moved away, she also saw a glint of something else hiding beneath the surface of his gaze. She wouldn't realize what it was until later. She sat, closing her eyes and leaning her head against the tree. She sipped from the flask, finding even the water tasted like sludge in her mouth. Her thoughts went back to Kataru. Why was he here? What was the possibility he was one of the prisoners to escape? Could she actually handle seeing him again after getting over so much of what had happened? She didn't know the answers to any of these, she didn't know much at all. Her head swam in uncertainties and emotions. 'What the hell is going on?'

Her thoughts were abruptly ended when the reverberation of the explosion passed over her. Her eyes snapped open, but she couldn't turn her head. She thought it was the barrier exploding, but it felt far more powerful than she assumed it would be. She didn't know much about barrier techniques, though she didn't think Kuodachi would go to such lengths to harm the escapee. 'Kuodachi...' His name passed her mind, just as the sound of a breaking bone reached her ears.

Time froze.

In her mind the girl saw an image of Kuodachi holding Kataru's head in his hands, a head bent sideways, connected to a limp body. 'He didn't.'

thump-thump, thump-thump

'He couldn't have-

thump-thump, thump-thump

'Why?

Her mind went back to the image of Kuodachi handing her his flask. His eyes filled with sadness. No, not just sadness, there was something else hidden deep inside them. "This will only take a moment." Those were his words, and she realized then what else was hidden in his gaze. Anger. Not just any anger, it was an anger Aikou knew, a livid passion that swelled and corrupted. A furious intent that could bend the whim of any mere human. Could Kuodachi be capable of killing someone? Aikou assumed he would be.

There was another echoing crack.

Kuodachi snapping his neck the other direction for good measure? Possibly.

The girl sat against the tree, stunned and numb. The flask slipped from her grip and thudded softly to the grass below. She didn't know exactly how she felt about this. Her instant reaction was horror. For Kuo to kill someone in cold blood, even for her - even in anger over hurting her - she recoiled from the idea. The second reaction was gratitude. A flood of joy and sadistic glee knowing the person that had caused her so much harm those days ago, the person that had turned her life to hell, was now gone. Wiped from the world like a dirt drawing wiped in the spring rain. She relished in such an idea for a moment. Only the briefest of moments. Even as a shinobi, she knew what real evil was. What damage pain could cause, from the body and the mind. Killing someone, it damaged your mind. Even those who thought it did not, there was a change that occurred when you hurt someone. She had received enough pain to know that much. So she never pursued enjoyment in her fights, never caused any pain that was not necessary. She would not allow herself to turn into them. She didn't think she could bear the thought she was had been the reason Kuodachi did such a thing now.

When the Special Jounin finally returned to Aikou's side, she ignored his question. She looked at him with wide eyes, pleading eyes. Hoping to all gods there may be she was wrong. That she had assumed wrong. "You didn't... you couldn't have... why would you- tell me you didn't." Her eyes starred back into his. Deep blue orbs, wide and fearful, tears beginning to form at the corners as the genin assumed the worst. "Tell me you didn't." She repeated.

Kuodachi's inquiry to Aikou would come just as he was coming into her view. His face was not sporting the usual smile, instead a somber expression was held. As soon as he got a look at Aikou's face, he knew what she was thinking. It was written all over her expression. He realized that he had frightened her half to death. She only heard what was happening, and being Aikou, she jumped to the worst possible conclusion, yet a surprisingly rational one.

He would almost immediately come to a squat, lowering his level to hers. He just looked at her as she begged to know. Begged him to tell her that he hadn't. As the tears welled up in her eyes, Kuodachi finally spoke, a familiar, yet somehow, unfamiliar smile dancing across his lips, as he reached for the mostly empty flask, “Aikou.” He paused with just her name as he pushed the flask towards her, feeling it still had water within. “No matter how angry it made me to see you get hurt, I would not jeopardize the integrity of this mission for my emotions.” His eyes remained locked on hers as he spoke, their usual coldness perhaps loosing a bit of warmness as he looked at her. His gaze would then redirect towards the tied up prisoner, the smile vanishing immediately, “I don't know who he is to you, but he will live. Though, he may never be the same.”

Finally, he plopped down on his butt. With the clarification out of the way, he turned back to the objective without delay, “But, this mission is not over. My shadow clone is tailing the other two, and at this rate, they will likely be reaching the village soon.” He sighed deeply, revealing a slight frustration. He'd not imagined they would have made it this far already. As much as he wanted Aikou to be there with him when he confronted the other two, given the situation, it might not be possible. “So, Aikou, what's the next move?” With the other two reaching the village soon, their only real hope was that the shadow clone could continue to track them. They needed to get this prisoner back, as toting him along was hardly an option. But, he opened the question to Aikou for two reasons. One, he wanted another input on the situation, and two, he wanted to see just how alert she was after the beating she took.

Her eyes locked with his. Searching the man's gaze for the truth. He squatted down, bringing himself equal to herself as he looked back at the girl with a somber frown. He didn't Answer her at first, simply stating her name as a smile once again crept over his face. The smile only added to her dread, but she accepted the flask again with some reluctance. It felt far too heavy in her hand, like it was filled with a molten lead. She let settle in her lap instead. Still she looked to him, fearing to break eye contact as it would somehow make her terrible assumption solidify into truth.

At last he answered. Assuring that Kataru was indeed still alive. Relief washed over her. She sucked in a breath that she did not realize she was holding. Even though she felt better though, a twinge of guilt pained her. I appeared to Aikou that Kuodachi thought that the prisoner meant something to her. He did, in a way, but not in the fashion to which she did not want him dead. Her fear and worry was not that Kataru would be dead, only that Kuodachi would have been a killer. The girl did not want to look upon the Special Jounin, someone she looked up to and admired, in a dimmed and tainted light. Her fear was for her friend. But, she could not admit that out loud, not right now anyway.

She reached outward, grasping Kuodachi's hand in her own. An action she did subconsciously, and one she had never done for some years now. Never since returning to the village she she reach for another person. Now, it seemed like a comforting act, Kuodachi's hand grounding her to the world as her head swam in confusion.

"Thank goodness." It was all she could think to say.

The S. Jounin looked to have his head on straight even though she did not. He inquiry turned to the mission. Something that she had almost but forgotten in the last few minutes. After a moment of thought, the girl nodded. Releasing Kuodachi's hand - something else she had forgotten - she stood shakily. After a few deep breaths the genin stood straight and looked out to the forest beyond. They had two more targets to take down. She promised that she would not falter in the face of fear, and she felt weak for having broken that promise. She wouldn't do it again though. "We go after them. Together." She looked to Kuodachi with the same determination in her eyes that had adorned them on their trek to the correction facility.

"We just need to figure out what to do with him."

"I believe we can handle that part." The voice came from the shinobis' right and upon turning they both would see three frigures breaking the darkness, striding toward them. The man in front, the one who had spoken, motioned to the prisoner on the ground. One of the individuals that accompanied the man diverted course to the escapee. "Collect him and bring back to the facility. See to it he does not die. He'll have to pay for his actions today."

'A lot more than just today.' Aikou thought.

Once they got closer, Aikou recognized the correction facility guard uniform that each of them wore. So it seemed that Kinzo felt it necessary to send babysitters. A prideful man trying to hold on to his reputation? Aikou could only guess this was the case. To be expected if Aikou thought anything of it. She didn't. "Kinzo send lap dogs to tail us then?"

The man ignored her taunt. He looked the two shinobi up and down and gave a disapproving frown. "This is only one. Where are the other two?"

"Moving to the town south of here. They are almost there, if not inside already. But that's nothing for you to worry about. We have it under control."

The man snorted in retort before speaking. "I think not. We'll handle the rest from here. I'm Deputy Warden, Togachi Hedeki, I have far more experience with these men than you two. My two men and I will gather up the other prisoners. Thank you for your efforts though." The man then began to turn away, seemingly ready to leave after the escapees. He didn't have much a brain though, Aikou assumed that from some simple deductions of the situation that the man obviously missed. "Are you dumb or just slow thinking Hedeki?" The man stopped mid step before turning slowly back to the genin. "Excuse me?" Aikou gave a devilish grin at this. She liked pissing men off, it was favorite pastime of hers. "Those two prisoners are almost at the town. A town that will no doubt have heard all the rumors of your little screw up. As well as being able to recognize your guard's uniform the moment you step into it."

Hedeki cocked a brow, apparently not understanding the implication that Aikou was making. "Your point, young lady?" It was was Aikou's turn to snort in response this time. He really didn't get it. She would have to spell it all out for him then. "The moment any of the citizens see you, they'll know that the prisoners are in the town. It will cause a panic. Alerting your escapees and making things a lot harder. Screaming people and running prisoners don't mix well. 'Handling the rest the from here' is a moronic mistake. Us two will take them down, and with a lot less problems." He thought over Aikou's words for a moment before reluctantly nodding in agreement. Her logic was sound, not matter how much the man wanted it not to be. He'd have to take the first prisoner, and put his trust in Kuodachi and her. "Very well. Though, it looks that you already had some problems of your own. Let my comrade tend your wounds before you move on." With this, he turned and made way to Kataru, who was now being loaded up by the other Prison Guard some yards away.

Aikou let the the other man approach and examine her condition. After a few minutes, and some discomfort later, she felt the pain in her chest ease. She took a deep breath, finding herself nearly good as new. That was good, if any of Aikou's gut assumptions were going to be correct today, this next fight was going to be a very difficult one. With Hedeki and the guards taking their leave, Aikou finally turned back to Kuodachi. "Are you ready? We have some ground to cover. Not to mention some planning to be made. We'll have to figure out how to avoid casualties and unexpected variables. Getting some information on what sort of poison might be affecting 6424 will mean quite a lot as well."

[Graded]They Used Spoons!

As Aikou reached for Kuodachi's hand, it took him by surprise. This was something, for the entirety of their relationship, he'd never seen Aikous do. She was not touchy in the least bit. He was even a bit hesitant to pick her up earlier. Yet, here she was, initiating physical contact on her own accord. He smiled lightly at her words, her utter relief. It was not everyday that such true and genuine feelings were seen, especially within the Shinobi world, so seeing such a pure emotion of relief was nice, in a way. Still, he moved right back to the mission.

Aikou's response was a firm one, following an uneasy trip to her feet. Still, she seemed steadfast in her resolve to complete this mission. That was a good sign, yet Kuodachi couldn't help but be concerned about her health. Her statement about the current situation was met with an unfamiliar voice as a response. Kuodachi would immediately turn, his body tensing up as if readying for a fight. When his eyes met the source, his body would relax almost as fast. A half grin sat on his face as the leader of the three began barking orders.

'Oh Kinzo.' Still, if there was a single moment Kuodachi was grateful for Kinzo's.... overbearing nature, this was it. They not had the answer to their problems. His smile grew bigger as he heard Aikou's taunt. Such a shrewd girl, a quality he both hated and loved about her. In this situation, more of the latter. Kuodachi propped himself against the tree, crossing his arms over his chest. He wanted to see just how alert Aikou was as well as continue to gauge her view on the situation.

As the “Deputy Warden” attempted to boot them off the mission, Aikou came back with a brash, if not appropriate response that left Kuodachi audibly chuckling. “Are you dumb or just slow thinking Hedeki?" It seemed that Aikou was on the same page as Kuodachi. He was growing proud just listening to her. Of course, Kuodachi knew this man was not... dumb persay. He just had a job to do and did not necessarily take everything into consideration. This was often the case for people when under pressure from a higher-up... Aka, Kinzo.

“Your point, young lady?” He questioned, his eyes falling to Kuodachi as if demanding him to reign her in. Kuodachi simply stared back, “Go ahead, edify him, Aikou.” His words further condescended the man in a more passive way. Of course, she was already practically speaking before Kuodachi said anything. Even despite all the superiority display, the warden accepted the infallible reasoning and even offered some aid, as if trying to salvage his already broken reputation with the two.

“Thanks for your time, Hideki!” Kuodachi added, a giant grin plastered on his face as the man made took his leave. “Give Mr. Boss Man my thanks for the tail!” While it may have come off facetious, Kuodachi was serious. Had it not been for the tail, this would not have gone so smooth.

Now, With Aikou patched up, she was quick to motion for the mission to move forward. With a simple not, Kuodachi leaped to the treetops, running across the branched towards the south. As they ran, Kuodachi first praised her, “Well done there. I don't think I could have said it better myself, though perhaps a little less blunt.” He let loose a light chuckle, all the while, his brain began planning. “This is going to be tough. 6425 will not hesitate to use civilian life to his advantage. Not to mention, these are C-rank, so I am going to need you at your prime. No hesitation.” His implication was clear. It was his way of making sure Aikou knew he saw her hesitate in her previous scrap.

Without any need for a defense from Aikou, he moved right into the plan. “We need to get them away from the more populated areas. It will come down to a waiting game. They are not going to risk staying in the village long. They will be looking to ditch out as soon as they possibly can. Ideally, this is when we hit them. We can tail them, and potentially find a good opportunity before this, but one may not present itself.” Of course, this posed risks. If they mess up, they will likely be free and clear, having already secured their escape route. Yet, this would be a time when they would likely be furthest from any great amount of citizen life. He looked to Aikou for her thoughts.

He continued with more specifics on a battle plan, “When this goes down, I want you to keep two things in mind. First, you may be able to match 6425 in close quarters. He needs muscle for a reason. That is not to say he will be weak, but as long as you utilize everything you have learned, you may just be able to match him. If it comes down to that, keep a keen eyes for his poison. Judging by D-rank, he uses a syringe for his application. It's a crude means that usually required a stationary target or risking the needle breaking. Very well possible that 6425 is the means to achieving that.... stationary target.”

Kuodachi shook his head. He was honestly worried about 6524. His charts were off the grid! Higher physical capabilities than anything Kuodachi had seen to this point. “That being said, I don't want you anywhere near 6424, unless you have a death wish. I can probably do a toll on 6424 with my Genjutsu. Considering his utter ignorance to chakra, he'd have no means to defend. Same goes for your Genjutsu. It is an easy way to get at him without being destroyed by his raw physical prowess. Ultimately, as long as we can quickly subdue one, the other will fall. Anything you'd like to add?” The options on how to go about this were plentiful, with a few leading the charge. Kuodahci posed this one as the one that seemed least subject to change. The least risky.

They moved off, taking to the tree tops once again. Kuodachi in front, and Aikou tailing close behind. She was glad for the small praise he gave her, though didn't take it to far to heart. Just being polite, superiors always did. So she shrugged it off. His comment about her hesitation caused her frown slightly. She looked down, biting her lip as she knew what he was referring to. She let her guard down with that last fight, she messed up. That wouldn't happen again though. Special circumstances resulted in her hesitation. She wouldn't let it happen again. 'I can't.'

Ever the planner, Kuodachi went into the idea for fighting these two. Also not horribly detailed - one couldn't be with such unknown factors in play - he was very certain about one thing. 6424 was off limits as far as she was concerned. They could snap her in two. With just his normal capabilities. Altered and juiced up by 6425's poisons, he could pretty much whatever he wanted. Holding down an unwilling 'patient' for the mad doctor to inject some medicine wasn't a stretch of the imagination by any means. If ever the guy got his hands on Aikou, she would be done for. She listened to the rest of Kuodachi's words, putting them into the puzzle she was doing in her head. There was an easy way to handle this, she just needed to figure out what.

As they moved through the trees, she tried shifting the pieces about, looking where everything best fit. They had a lot of information so far, the trick was using it correctly. She stayed silent like this for a couple minutes. No sound crossing between the shinobi except the rustle of leaves and the tiny creak of a bough as they landed. At last, Aikou spoke. "The main target should be 6425. Once he is down, Muscles McGee will have no direction and no plan. He can try to run though won't be getting very far. Fighting him alone after taking out 6425 has the highest chance of result as well, especially if we can manage it before he get's a nice medicine shot from his friend. I say this only because taking out 6424 first won't solidify 6425's defeat by any means. He's going to have a contingency plan if his body guard goes down, he's smart enough for that. And I'm willing to bet only he knows what escape route they have in mind." The more she said it out loud, the more certain Aikou was of her ideas.

"Further, it will be far easier to distract 6424 while we focus on his partner than the reverse. When it comes to the divide and conquer plan, you always find the simplest method to achieve the result. Genjutsu can be an easy distraction, especially with an inability to use chakra. My only hesitation with this, is we will have to keep half our attention on the big guy while we fight. One slip up, a tiny oversight, and it will mean doom. We can't have any errors if we go with my plan." She looked over to Kuodachi now, making sure he understood what she was saying. If for one moment they lost awareness of 6424's position during the fight with 6425, they would most likely die. But it was better than the alternative. Splitting themselves up to fight two separate targets at once. That happened in books and fantasy, dual battle of equal suspense and thrill, waging side by side. It didn't work in real life. That got you killed in real life.

"Where is your clone now? How far out are we? I am assuming a lack of update means they reached the town already. That complicates things."

As Aikou gave her input, Kuodachi listened closely. With every word, Kuodachi was shifting his own plan, allowing Aikou's thoughts to be implemented. Her ideas were perfectly in line with the situation. She was alert and her brain was churning through all the information in an exact manner.

Splitting their attention was never Kuodachi's implication. He, same as he told Aikou, would be avoiding any close confrontation with 6424. His skills were far too strong for even a special Jounin, so long as he didn't focus his entire skill set on taijutsu.... which Kuodachi didnt. He fully intended to find a means to distract the muscle head and focus on the mastermind, but it all depended on the specifics. A plan is under constant scrutiny from the time of its conception to the time of its implementation. Specifics have to be ready to change on a moments notice. This was an undeniable truth that Kuodachi had grown to accept over his years of leading teams.

Of course, Kuodachi understood everything Aikou was saying, and he knew she was right on all counts. This was going to be a life or death situation. In additional to muscle man's already amazing capabilities, if the D-rank was any indication of the power of 6425's ability with poisons, the charts on 6424 were not even fully accurate as to what they would be dealing with. “So, its settled then. When the time comes, our main focus is going to be taking 6425 down. If we can stop the application of his poison to beef cakes, that would be ideal.”

Aikou's question on their current position yielded a solemn look from Kuodachi before a nod came. They were in the village all right. “We're close.” With time passing, the two would find themselves on the outskirts of the little village, in the final trees before the forest broke into a more sparse gathering. At this moment, Kuodachi reached up and undid his headband, slipping it into his backback. He ruffled his hair, rolled his sleeves, and all around made himself look a little less kept. As he did so, he said to Aikou, “We have to blend, look like the everyday folk of this village. Let your posture slack, walk with some sway, things like that. Its easy to spot a Shinobi by these trained habits, and at least 6425, will be quick to notice. They are towards the center of the village now. We need to take the place of my clone in tailing them.” Before launching off the branch for a leisurely gait into the village, he said a few final words, “Aikou.” He knew he didn't need to say anything, but he felt inclined to do so, “Lets keep this as clean as possible. Watch my cues. Stay alert and focused. No mistakes.”

As they moved into the village, it would become quickly evident that the village was not very large. It was just a little place, a dozen or so buildings dotting the landscape. Most of the residential areas were likely on farms further out. The lack of population within the main city area was a good and bad sign. Finding a suitable area to fight might be easier, but the same could be said for the two prisoners who were desperately searching for transportation and alternate clothing.

Kuodachi followed the path to his clone, nodding to a few random villagers to keep up the facade of normalcy. Of course, none of the villagers would recognize the two of them, but seeing someone nod, there was a simple response.... nod back. As they neared Kuodachi's clone, they would never actually see it. He'd have it move away from them. The last thing they needed was someone noticing an identical twin. They would come upon a building, around the left side. His clone would proceed to move from any line of sight and poof out of existence. Following this event, Kuodachi would mumble, “They are in here. It's a stable.” Kuodachi was right. They were looking to leave as soon as possible. Stables were used for transportation. Pack animals and horses were housed, ready to pull a cart from one place to another. If they could hitch a ride on a cart to another town, they would be gone for good.

Kuodachi moved around towards the front of the building in a normal walk, his hands delved into his pockets. As soon as he turned the corner, his gaze would meet the visage of a giant bald man. Prisoner 6424. His heart fell right into his stomach as he saw this man. His biceps were as large as Kuodachi's entire body, probably weighed more. They had altered their jumpsuits to look... almost normal. Jumpsuits were regularly orange, bit the large man was wearing dark green with orange spots, an addition probably done by 6425's knowledge. The jumpsuit had been altered to be a two piece set, pants and a shirt, the seams folded out to make it look normal. 'Well done,' was all Kuodachi could think. He knew there was a plan, but this went beyond his expectations.

The behemoth of a man stood outside the building, arms crossed over his barrel of a chest. 'Standing guard?' With the muscle head not even noticing him, he casually dipped back behind the corner of the building. He quickly mumbled to Aikou, “He was not there a moment ago. Something is wrong.” If muscles was standing guard, they might be taking a more forceful move to acquire transportation. “This is good. We can either try the front door, or sneak in another way, but now is a perfect time to strike.” A plan was churning in Kuodachi's mind. They were separated right this moment. It was an ideal time to strike should they find a path to 6525. Surely they wouldn't find another opportunity like this! It was perfect.

OOCShow
I'm sorry, I had been quite busy with work this week. :/
The Special Jounin agreed with Aikou's assessment. No close combat with the big guy, focus our intent on the Mad Doctor. It sounded simple, but application of such a plan was far harder. How do they separate them, for how long can they distract 6424, how difficult will it be to bring down 6425? These were uncertainties. When making plans and formulating strategies, uncertainties were a bad omen. They where chinks in armor, the wrench in the cogs. Though they can only hope that luck had now fled the prisoners, and taken up arms with the two shinobi instead.

Aikou's heart sank when he confirmed that the escapees had indeed made it to the town. This was what she hoping to avoid. Catching them before was the best option, inside the village, with many people around. The uncertainty pool was climbing steadily. She bit her lip in an anxious thought. Would they be able to handle this without an innocent bystander getting hurt? She assumed they could, and even if one did - despite Aikou hating the idea of unneeded blood and pain - it would be dwarfed by the amount that would occur should they fail to catch these two. Accepted casualties. It phrase that the genin despised, and yet to her dismay, she found herself accepting it now. 'We have to stop them now, or it will get much worse.' She reminded herself.

As they arrived at the outskirts of the village, Kuodachi began removing his headband, and altering his appearance. She realized what he was doing immediately and started to do the same. Stowing away her headband, removing the ribbons from her hair so it could fall freely, and setting a few specks of dirt on her face. They needed to appear of a pair of random travelers passing through the town, all hints of being shinobi had to bee removed. She looked down at her leg, eyeing the Mamorinuku symbol tattooed into her skin. This was going to be a bit harder. She dug into her backpack and riffled through the a few clothes she grabbed in her room. She removed a white skirt, and slipped it on, tucking her dress inside it. The skirt ended at the top of her knee, hiding the tattoo, and the dress now appeared as a simple blouse. Happy with the outcome of her change, she nodded to Kuodachi and followed him into the town.

The made down the road at slow pace, walking innocently as they could. Kuodachi nodded to the villagers as they passed, blending in easily. Aikou decided to play the shy girlfriend, grabbing onto his arm and sticking close. She knew speaking would cause a problem, Aikou spent her entire life around the "high class" and spoke in a diction not normally seen in small towns. She could try to alter her speech, but it would probably sound more insultingly uneducated than 'normal'. So instead she stayed quite. They moved about for a few minutes, Aikou assumed to meet up with Kuodachi's clone. It wasn't long until they had a location. "Stables? Without doubt they would hope to gain transport, either by animal itself or upon someone else's cart."

When the two turned the corner to the building, they laid eyes on 6424 for the first time. Aikou saw a towering bald man, arms bigger than herself, and more than capable of smashing her in a single swing. They ducked back behind the corner quickly, and Kuodachi stated her ideas. The genin nodded, it really was an ideal situation. "Around the otherside, stables always have multiple entrances."

With this said, she started her way to the opposite corner of the stable, away from Mr. Clean. Peeking behind this one, Aikou saw no one, but there was a large sliding door set into the wall, The area where carts and animals can enter or leave. She waived Kuodachi forward and she quickly went to the door. As she got closer, she could see it was slightly ajar at the moment, she stopped just before the opening. On knee now, she inched closer to the opening and set an ear to the inner area. She could hear two voices, faintly at first but after a moment, they got louder, or she was able to pick up the words, either way she could make out a conversation.

"-omised you would have everything in place. We are here, why is it not ready?" An young voice, perhaps early twenties. It was angry.

"Yes, I did. Though this was not the day we agreed on. Someone started the plan early." This one was older, a man near his fifties. He seemed not angry, though agitation laced his tone.

"Something came up, it had to be. Regardless, we need that cart. When do they leave."

"They don't set out until tomorrow morning. That's why I made it clear to do this later. The early bird does not always get the worm."

"Fuck! We can't get across the borderline unless we meet up with our next rendezvous and to do that, this cart s to get moving."

"Well it leaves in the morning. I'm packing up his cart early at 4am, that's when I can get you inside it. It's then, or you find another way."

"There is no other way." A crash, 6425 kicking something? Or the horses started to get spooked? Either was plausible. It seemed that the 'plan' wasn't going well. They had jumped early, and messed up the timing. 6425 didn't sound pleased, but he looked to be in a corner with no option. Wherever this cart was going, it seemed they had to stow away on it to make it there. Probably to get by whatever inspection teams or security that would be waiting on the route. Just riding horses through the fire country only got you so far, eventually you needed papers and identification. Things the prisoners did not have.

"Fine. This better be quick though. And you can assure me this guy can make it across checkpoints without a search?"

"Yes he has a Pass, big merchant guy, lots of friends and all that you know what I mean."

"Good."

Aikou pulled away from the door and looked at Kuodachi, whom she knew would have also been listening. This explained Meat Head being left outside, 6425 didn't want him to know the plan. This opened a new possibility for the shinobi as well. If they waited for the prisoners to stow away on the cart, and then tail it out of the village. They could strike the prisoners when they were safely away from other citizens. Besides the unfortunate merchant of course, but it was a bit better than the entire town. Or they, could try now. The Stable was partially secluded, not much of other buildings around, and fewer people. Should the escapees make it deeper into the town during the fight, it would mean trouble though. Aikou wasn't sure on either opportunity, she felt like there was something else they still didn't know. But they had to make a decision now. Her eyes searched Kuodachi's questioningly, trying to figure out what he thought. Strike now, or wait until they are in the cart tomorrow morning? She would let him decide.

“Mmm.” Kuodachi agreed with Aikou deduction for them being at the stables. This was likely a critical part of their plan. Acquiring transportation was vital, yet Kuodachi couldn't help but wonder how far they expected to get without some means to making it past searches.

As they made their way around the otherside, Kuodachi was glad to see the other entrance was secluded in a manner. He stood guard for a moment, watching the long pathway as Aikou moved forward towards the entrance. The alley seemed largely unoccupied, which was good. Random passerbys questioning their skulking would be detrimental to their... well... skulking. With the motion, Kuodachi would join her at the door, being met with the voiced immediately.

At first, he just kept quiet and listened, his body leaning over Aikou's for a better position to eavesdrop. They were picking up on some very good information. A serious stroke of luck, they practically had their plan laid out before them. Now, it was clear, this plan was more than a simple opportunity for them. 6425 had been planning this for some time and whoever was running this stable seemed to be in on it all. The earlier question that crossed Kuodachi's mind was answered. They had a way past checks. As soon as they left, their escape would be secured. However, they would not be waiting for them to leave.

Kuodachi's deduction left him at a simple conclusion. The person inside with 6425 was knee deep in this plan. There was no way to tell whether he was trained or not, but Kuodachi wanted to take him with the prisoners. He couldn't stand the fact that this guy was helping them. He didn't like the unknown, but if an assumption was worth anything, now was perfect. The biggest known threat was outside. That meant they could likely stave off any poison injection if they played their cards right. Plus, the unknown was unlikely to be a trained Shinobi. Why would any Shinobi risk so much? A civilian had much more to gain from such a set up.

Leaning down to Aikou's ear he spoke barely in a whisper, “We strike now.” He continued, reminding Aikou of what they had already practice, “Remember, if I say your name...” He didnt feel the need to finish it. It needed serve only as a reminder to be wary of his genjutsu initiations, which were mostly sound. Most of the time, Kuodachi refrained from using his Genjutsu with his team members due to the potential of friendly fire, but he would need to pull out all the tricks in this encounter. Holding back could easily spell out death for both him and Aikou.

Without another moment, Kuodachi moved his hand up to begin opening the sliding door. The words seemed distant enoyugh to denote being a distance away from the door, a good sign. Hearing the conversation continue between the two inside, it would be aiding in their silent movement. Through the crack, he could see there was some kind of a wall right in front of the door, at least on the far side. That would also help. So, he pulled the door cautiously and smoothly open, making as little noise as possible, just enough for him and Aikou to be able to slip in. The noise would be faint, and potentially covered by the conversation and faint movement of the animals that could be heard as they were eavesdropping. Regardless, at this point the main goal was to get a drop on them. Even if they became wary of their presence, they just needed to be the first to strike in order to gain an advantage. They needed to do it quick, in case 6425 was quick to call his muscle, which he probably was. With Aikou being in front, he'd follow her in, immediately taking survey of the surrounding.
