Burning Will of Fire

Post by Diatenshi » Tue Apr 10, 2018 5:55 pm

"Masaru do you know where your mother hid my fishing rod?" An old man called out from his bedroom. He had torn the room apart in his search, something Masaru's mother was sure to scold him over.

"Grandpa you just got over being sick and it's raining outside. Mom hid your fishing rod so you wouldn't sneak off and catch a cold. Now let's clean up this mess before she sees it."

Masaru smiled at his grandfather as he spoke his words soft and full of love for the elderly man. The talk of fishing had him nostalgic thinking of his times out fishing as a child. It was during one of these trips that his grand father first taught him off the will of fire and why he had to nurture it.
"Masaru as a member of the Senju clan you must live with dignity and honor. You must uphold the honor of the clan and support the village. What do you think is the best method for peace? Violence and force? No, the answer is love. Our village is so full of light and good will because of our love for one another and our devotion to the village as a whole. Though they aren't members of this clan remember that every villager in Konohagakure is a member of your family. You may not always like them or agree with what they say or do, but remember they're still family." The old senju would puff on his pipe as he cast his line out.

Masaru but a mere boy of 5 would stare at him in wonder. He had no real understanding of what the old man was saying but it seemed important so he did his best to remember. Pondering the words as much as he could before a frown and furrowed brow would appear on his usually happy face.

"But grandpa what if they hurt the village or the people in it?"

His grandfather would chuckle and pat the young boys head. He'd draw another puff on his smoking pipe as he quietly reeled in a fish. "That's when you gotta show em some tough love. Bullying and hurting others is bad but if you're fighting to protect or stand up for someone else it's okay. Just remember the person you're fighting is also part of your family that you must protect. So don't be too hard on them. Stand up for others and just do the right thing and your heart will never steer you wrong." The old man would smile as he spoke. "Ooo got another one you wanna help me pull her in?" He'd lean over passing the rod over and would help his young grandson pull the fish in.
Masaru would smile fondly as the recollection ended and he'd look over at his grandfather with a somewhat sad face. It was hard to watch those you loved deteriorate because of old age. The once indestructible towering mountain now frail and weak a shadow of what they once were. His personality never changed kind, yet full of fire and energy, his body could just no longer keep up with him.

"Grandpa if it's nice tomorrow I'll take you fishing I promise for now just rest." He'd guide the old man back to his bed. And roll over the go board. For now let's just relax and play a game all right?" Masaru would redirect the old man's thoughts. He'd then sit to spend time with him, knowing that he and his grandfather wouldn't be able to play games together forever.
