He was supposed to be the senpai in today’s mission, both were briefed on it the night before, and he still had the mission statement scroll. Calling it an escort was technically wrong, closer to a delivery mission, he had done a number of deliveries during the war, so it wasn't that strange for him, even though he had been a mere genin at the time, different to his present state.

Still, meetings at the gate were becoming increasingly more common. He walked there slowly, hands in his pockets, and a rather lazy gait unbecoming of a shinobi. Raizou was functionally dragging his legs along, it was rather difficult to read the expression on his face. Raizou usually considered himself to be the epitome of calmness, but there was a little something which bothered him about this mission. He was sure the guys upstairs had also noticed it, otherwise it would have been passed to a team of genin instead.

So he had no choice but to keep his wits about him, and consider the possibilities hidden under the veil of this mission, he reached the gate, probably just in time which for him meant considerably early. Raizou sighed as he inspected his kunai, giving a cursory nod to the shinobi at the gate, most likely well aware of their mission now.

He didn’t know all that much about his partner for this mission either, so he’d have to learn on the go. Still, it seemed that the time for learning was sooner than it was later as he saw the footsteps, Haruka was her name if he remembered correctly. ”Right in the nick of time, you’re Haruka right? Let's get this escort mission which is actually a delivery mission underway.” is tone was tinged with nothing more than simple amusement.

Haruka would wake up like normal unaware of what was scheduled today but after she got dressed into her usual outfit and ate some cereal for breakfast she would head out to do some training only to find out she was called to participate in a mission. But she hadn’t heard anything about participating in any mission which makes her wonder how come some missions seem to be last minute notice while others are last second? This causes her to look on curiously as she quickly heads over to report for the mission so she can quickly get briefed. Once she has been briefed on the details of the mission she then quickly proceeds to get ready for the mission by gathering all her equipment. Before heading out to make sure she isn’t late.

When she gets there her partner for the mission still hasn’t arrived causing her to wonder if she got here to early? as she is contemplating this she sees someone arrive and start talking to her. Haruka would happily wave at the man as he arrived saying , “Hai Hai! Yep I’m Haruka, your Raizo right? Nice to meet you, I wonder why there having us do a delivery mission are the contents really that important?”
