Mission: Shaman Kangaroo

[Ace Trainer]

The group of shaman-roo's stood in a half circle, joking and laughing, waiting for their challenger to approach. They all seemed rather healthy, likely making them the young adults of the clan. Whatever was considered Young adult in the shaman-roo world. The sun was setting in the distance, well, as much as it could set. It seemed the position of the island simply caused the sun to sit at the horizon during night, creating a beautiful light show.

They waited for Genkaku, for their challenger. To test the strength of their own.

OOC: Wow, you always seem to be the one to get my missions...

IC: Genkaku set sail the day after being informed of his mission, he had his normal supplies of items, and he wore some loose fit baggy pants. For his top he wore a sleeveless shirt, and with his arms uncovered his tattoos could be seen. On one arm was a dragon, the other had the Kumogakure symbol on it.

Genkaku sailed for the few hours it took to reach the island then departed thanking the captain of the ship as well as the rest of the crew, for his safe passage to the island. Here he was at the island of the Shaman-Roos. It was a beautiful area to say the least, however scenery at this time wasn't on the mind of this Shinobi, no, he had to stay focused on the mission...

Walking to the location where the Shamon-Roos were located Genkaku greeted them as he was prepared to battle a tone of respect could be heard in his voice. "Greetings, I am Genkaku Hanappari, and I am honored to be the one selected to come to your island and fight one of your own! I'm sure it will be a fight to be remembered for centuries!"

They all bowed-ish at him simultaneously, it wasn't a head nod, but it wasn't a full bow either. It was a sign of respect, regardless. "Welcome to our home.", one finally said, stepping forward. He seemed to be the most matured out of the group, and certainly held respect.

"I won't tease you with formalities, since you clearly know what you're here for Hanappari-san. However, I do want to set some ground rules, since you'll be abiding by our culture. Here, there is no magic. In our duels we don't use Chi, nor your Chakra. It is simple skill vs skill. Weapons are allowed. Do anything. We have 2 healers here.", be stopped to gesture towards to of the Shaman-roos in the semi-circle, who nodded when gestured at. "Who are more than capable of healing death shots. So, feel free to do whatever you see fit."

The semi-circle began hopping back, with the exception of a single Shaman-roo. "The names Shura, nice to meet you Hanappari-san.", he said leaning on his staff. The lead shaman-roo jumped back in a large bound, and announced.

"Begin."

Shura remained still, not moving to attack right away. Nor to defend. It almost appeared like he was reading Genkaku.

OOC: I guess you had like previously uhh summoned? The spear before Genkaku showed up? Since you said he's leaning on his 'staff'.


IC: Genkaku took a few steps away from the Kangaroo creating more room for him to work with. The Kangaroo has a wooden spear in his hand, so Genkaku thought he'd even things up a bit as he unsheathed his sword. Lowering himself down into a defensive stance, Genkaku watched his opponent intently, maybe this would turn into a waiting game, but Genkaku had no intentions of being the first to strike.


OOC: I'd say we're what like 10 yards away from one another? If not, say something in your next post please, if so just say umk in an OOC or something, preciate it.

Shura stared Genkaku down, as silence tore into their ears. It seemed neither side wanted to be the first. "Just start, Shura-sama.", one of the suggest. Sama? Seemed this kangaroo had some sort of authority. Sighing, Shura nodded, reaching into his pouch and pulling out a kunai, throwing it with all his strength, not even pulling the cap off of it. He followed, running behind the kunai, getting ready to shank Genkaku with his staff.

Quick fight. Quick fight. Go for the kill. Prepare for a block.

[Satorose]

Genkaku watched the Kangaroo as he tossed a kunai towards him. Nothing special appeared to be on this said kunai, not to mention chakra couldn't be used so Genkaku figured there was no threat other then the kunai itself. Following behind the kunai however was the real problem, the giant kangaroo that he was fighting...

Genkaku quickly sucked all of the things going on around him in, and side stepped the kunai then as the kangaroo came in with the spear Genkaku stepped to the side, while swinging his sword with one hand at the wooden spear attempting to cut the spear's head clean off. As he did so he kept his other hand free in-case he needed it to act quickly.

[Sorry, busy weekend]

As the sword swung, the spear dropped, causing both weapons to fly towards the ground. Shura took this moment, moving on his right foot, sending his tail flying at Genkaku as he pulled the spear back. His hands moved quick pulling out another kunai, this time popping the cap off of it. Why the change? Perhaps that had just been a test, and now Shura was going to be serious.

It was time to see who was the better fighter.

[Oh, you can still use basic jutsu, btw. Like exploding tag activation, tree walking, water walking. I d k if Genkaku has exploding tags, but I figure you might have wanted to use them if he does.]

OOC: Aiight, well I think I understood your post though, I guess you dropped the spear down a bit so the sword slash would miss? I didn't really understand that, that well, but eh it's whatever. (This is a talented Kangaroo none-the-less being able to keep the spear in his hand and get the kunai out and un-cap it, without any problems lolol)

IC: Genkaku's slash missed, but the spear didn't hit him either which was good. Genkaku saw the kangaroo bring his tail around attempting to hit Genkaku, then he quickly reached into his pouch attempting to get a kunai. As the tail came around Genkaku placed his legs down firmly on the ground preparing himself for some impact. As the tail made contact Genkaku felt the pain rush through his body for a moment, but he used his own body to catch the kangaroo's tail. As he did so he lifted one of his legs off the ground and kicked at the kangaroo's stomach, it wasn't likely that the kangaroo could fiddle through all his things and free the kunai from it's top before Genkaku's kick landed. If Genkaku's kick landed he would let go of the Kangaroo's tail as it landed letting the Kangaroo fly.

Quickly sheathing his sword and jumping back a few paces Genkaku reached into his weapons pouch pulling out both his smoke bombs, and 3 exploding notes, which he kept concealed from the Kangaroo's sight. (He kept the exploding notes concealed, like just behind his arm or something, out of the Kangaroo's view)

There was no way to dodge the kick, but he certainly wasn't simply going to let himself be hit without fighting back. There wasn't much strength behind the kick, so as he stomach was met with it, he spat at Genkaku, a large loogie flying at his face. Quick to follow was the kunai, which he threw at Genkaku's shoulder as he tumbled backwards. He quickly regained his balance, stabbing his spear into the ground to stabilize himself, and looked forward at Genkaku, patiently waiting.

He couldn't always be on the offense, after-all. He had a small smile on his face, well, as smile-ish as a kangaroo could have, and had light, deep breaths. Showing he was more than prepared to fight this man for a while. Genkaku would have to be smarter than pure combat.

Genkaku's kick landed, but as it did the Kangaroo spit in his face. Genkaku turned his body slightly sideways as he wiped the spit off his face, and as he did the Kangaroo had thrown a kunai at Genkaku. Luckily for Genkaku that turn had saved him from eating a kunai in the shoulder, instead of taking it full on the kunai cut his arm slightly.

Although Genkaku had taken a decent shot to the side from the Kangaroo's tail, he was in fine shape it was nothing that hadn't happened to him before. Genkaku still jumped back a few paces and got out the two smoke bombs and the three explosive tags. Throwing them a bit to the the left and right side of the Kangaroo, Genkaku followed behind them, unsheathing his sword as he did. The smoke began to cover the area slightly, and Genkaku ran through the smoke first on the opposite side of the spear hand, and he also kept a little distance on the side of the Kangaroo and himself so the spear wouldn't severely hurt him if it was able to catch him, and so that stabbing randomly at Genkaku through the smoke would be less likely, and as he was passing about equal to where the Kangaroo had been he slapped down his first explosive note, then continued running around. Genkaku was now running behind the Kangaroo slapping yet another explosive note on the ground; then back through the smoke on the opposite side that he had originally ran through he slapped another explosive note down. Running back to where he had been before he had thrown the smoke bombs, sword still in hand.

Genkaku was back out of the smoke now standing where had had beforehand with his sword in hand, his trap was set, now the best bet for him was to successfully activate it.

As the smoke bombs went off, Shura certainly wasn't simply going to sit there and act blindly. He jumped forward, and high into the air, and landed outside of the smoke, with a powerful thud, landing about 10 feet behind where Genkaku had started, and finished. Shura simply, stood, watching, compelled.

"What are you doin?", he asked as Genkaku as he stopped. Curious as to how stupid this man must be if he really thought Shura would just stand there.

[Satorose]

Genkaku didn't really just expect for the Kangaroo to stay there and get caught in the trap realistically, but if it worked that would just be a bonus. However, Genkaku at least had a trap for future reference...

Genkaku sheathed his sword once more, and jumped back a few paces, creating about 20 feet more between him and the Kangaroo, so a total of 30 feet separated the two. Then pulling out two shuriken and 1 kunai, with an exploding note on the kunai, Genkaku through the shuriken so they would go from the side of the kangaroo, but a few feet behind him. (Basically, the shuriken are coming from the left and right, but if the kanagaroo stood perfectly still they'd miss him, because they're coming from the sides, but a little behind him) Then almost right after he threw the kunai with the exploding tag on it at the feet of the Kanagaroo. As the kunai left his hand, he was already wrapping another kunai with an exploding tag. For future use...

Shura looked at the situation he was being thrown into, and tapped one foot on the ground before leaping high into the air, landing 10 feet to his right. He was a kangaroo after-all. Jumping was kind-of his thing. He landed, looking at Genkaku again with a shaman-roo-ish smile. It seemed he wasn't exactly going to play on the offense. Maybe because he wasn't sure about offense without his chi.

So he stood, again, leaning on his spear waiting for Genkaku to attack again. This fight could take a while.

"Gotcha," Was the single word that Genkaku mumbled to himself when the Kangaroo lept into the air. Unless this Kangaroo had some super secret then Genkaku was about to make him pay. As the Kangaroo sailed in the air, Genkaku awaited until he was on his way down, then moments before he landed, still being a few feet in the air, Genkaku threw his kunai. He placed the kunai so that if it did make contact with the Kangaroo it wouldn't hit anywhere vital; however, as soon as the kunai got close Genkaku made his hand sign. BOOM! The likelyhood of the Kangaroo being able to dodge this attack being in mid-air and all was pretty much impossible, but Genkaku could do nothing but wait to see if it had worked.

[Str = speed for projectiles, btw. And you're throwing a kunai 30m at 5spd. Just so you realize my basis for this.]

As the kunai was thrown the Shaman-roo looked at the man with pity. This was taijutsu. Silly projectile tricks weren't going to be much help for him. His tail hit the ground, and he used it as leverage to push himself back, adding a bit of distance, and an anchor. His foot hit and he immediately bounded off. The edge of the explosion still caught him. Sending his backwards jump into more of a tumble than a elegant fall.

Regaining his composure, he looked forward at his foe. Deep breaths, Shura was doing his best to control his breathing, as to keep him in the fight for as long as possible. Genkaku had to be getting tired too. If he didn't step up his game he'd just end up exhausted.

Genkaku had left out one small detail that allowed the Kangaroo to dodge the full blow, that was his tail. 'Damn it,' Genkaku thought to himself. Although as he thought he was already reaching into his weapon's pouch and grabbing another kunai with an explosive tag on it. As the Kangaroo had been knocked around by the explosive Genkaku knew he was unprotected once more. Throwing the kunai at the kangaroo as hard and fast as he could, he waited until the kunai was next to the stumbling kangaroo once more before making his hand sign. The exploding note blew up pretty close to the kangaroo, enough to knock him out or severely injure him one.

Quickly reaching into his bag Genkaku pulled out one more kunai with another exploding note on it... Genkaku didn't want to miss out on anything.

The Kangaroo wasn't stupid, and mid-stumble, as hen noticed Genkaku pulling out another kunai, he stabbed his staff into the ground to anchor him, and immediately jumped off 15 feet to the right in a low arc. Looking at Genkaku, he sighed once more.

"I'll give you a hint. Mix up your tactics, or I'm just going to dance around you all day, Hanappari-san.", he said in a slow voice. he didn't want to seem offensive, but, this shinobi was using the same tactics over and over again. He'd have to mix it up some how, or he wouldn't have a chance against him.

Genkaku stood still there was about 40 feet separating the man and the Kangaroo now. And about 40 feet to the right of the kangaroo and 40 feet to the left of Genkaku was were Genkaku's original trap had been laid. Taking some steps to Genkaku's right away from the traps, Genkaku circled around slowly so that he would be farther away from his traps. Pulling out a singly shuriken from his pouch Genkaku wrapped a flash bomb (The little bombs that are on a small piece of rope, they're used to blind folks, in-case you didn't know) around the shuriken so that the little ball would be in the middle of the shuriken keeping it somewhat hidden from the Kangaroo's view.

Genkaku threw the shuriken in the direction of the Kangaroo, but a bit to his left, only a little bit like half a foot, but still a little to his left. As the flash bomb was about to go off, Genkaku closed his eyes right at the moment it was going to go off, as he counted the seconds in his head until activation...

The reaction from Genkaku showed it all. There was something happening, and it wasn't just a shuriken thrown in the kangaroo's direction. Even with this however, it didn't have much time to react. There was a light that gradually got brighter and brighter, so the kangaroo leaped into the air, pushing it's two feet against the ground and reached into it's pouch; grabbing onto a light bomb and throwing it in the direction of Genkaku. If he could throw a light bomb, so could Shura.

But the tactic didn't work fully. The light bomb exploded the moment as the kangaroo jumped, so he saw the strong light for a moment, blinding him for only a few seconds. While his feet slammed down into the ground five feet in front of his previous position, the kangaroo launched back into the air, throwing two kunai's from it's pouch toward both arms of Genkaku. Next, using the force of it's feet as it landed, sprung forward at Genkaku, using it's long spear to attack the chest, giving itself a bit of room in case something happened.

Genkaku had his eyes closed for a moment, then when he re-opened them he saw the ending of the Kangaroo's flash bomb. But that didn't do very much. As soon as Genkaku began to regain his eye sight he saw the Kangaroo. Chunking his kunai with the exploding note on it, that he had from before, Genkaku aimed it at the Kangaroo's shoulder, not wanting to kill him, just injure him enough to end the fight. A moment later the Kangaroo was throwing two kunai at Genkaku as well (I'll assume you took the tops off when your threw 'em). Genkaku quickly reacted as best as he could doing a sort of barrel roll to the side, dodging them both. As Genkaku's kunai got close enough to the Kangaroo he made his hand seal causing the exploding note to go off, right in the face of the Kangaroo.

OOC: I'm assuming that the kunai with an exploding note going towards the Kangaroo is enough to stop him from charging Genkaku with his spear, that's why I didn't dodge that attack in the post. Basically I'm assuming that kinda canceled it out. But if not, just tell me and I'll edit it.

The exploding note was successful. Well, to an extent. The throw was perfect. It aimed for it's shoulder, yet, the animal practically ran straight toward it. However, the spear that the kangaroo was using gave Shura a good distance, and using it, half deflected the kunai as it passed through. The explosion still had an effect, causing the right side of his face to be burnt.

While this happened, the kangaroo continued the attack. Shura was angry. Really angry. So this time, he reached into his pouch and fondled around until he picked up some bombs. Smoke bombs. But these wern't going to be used for a defensive mechanism (like escaping or hiding). They were going to be used for his next attack. Throwing them forward, they exploded on the ground in between the both of them. Afterward, Shura ran as fast as he could, springing up using his tail, and sending the spear through the smoke to Genkaku's head.

Let's see what he does this time.

Genkaku was pleased for a moment, as he saw his exploding note do some damage to the right side of the Kangaroo's face; however, that pleasing thought stopped once Genkaku saw the Kangaroo continue his rapid charge, but hey at least the note had slowed him down. And not only that, it might have hurt part of his eye sight. Nonetheless, Genkaku was no fool even though the Kangaroo threw some smoke bombs at him, he wasn't going to simply stand still and watch the Kangaroo rush him. No, instead he ran back away from the Kangaroo for a moment, then once he was out of part of the smoke, he changed directions running towards the trap he had set earlier, glancing over his shoulder to make sure the Kangaroo was making an attack from behind.

Once Genkaku got about 15 feet away from the trap he had set (Like after he ran through the middle of it, he kept running till he was 15 feet away from it, but the Kangaroo would have to run through it to get to Genkaku) Genkaku stopped and turned around facing the Kangaroo, hoping that the Kangaroo would continue to charge him. As Genkaku stopped though he put one hand on each knee breathing heavily, not because he was tired, but because he was fooling with the Kangaroo's mind, hoping he'd fall for the trick.

Why would the ninja go away so far? That was the question that was on Shura's mind after his spear attack wasn't successful. It was a one on one fight with no chakra. And if all he was doing was throwing projectiles, he would just be going back to his old plan that failed miserably. So there was only one option. It must be a trap.

But Genkaku's acting affected Shura's mindset. It made it seem like he was on the upper hand; if the shinobi was tired, he wouldn't have a chance to dodge an attack. So by gripping harder onto his spear with one hand, he reached into his pouch and grabbed all the remaining kunai in his hand. "Time to finish this," said the kangaroo, jumping up into the air as he ran, throwing the kunai and striking Genkaku from the air after putting his other hand on the spear.

If his attack was successful, Genkaku would suffer a large wound on his chest. But if his attack was deflected, Shura would have a chance to fall back into the trap that was set.

OOC: If you threw the final kunai, that's 6 total, and once again I'm assuming you're taking the caps off of them, but damn that's a lot of kunai at once lol!

IC: Genkaku had his hands on his knees still faking his heavy breathing, and like he expected the Kangaroo fell for it... Well kind of fell for it anyway... The Kangaroo leaped into the air at Genkaku and threw a a total of 6 kunai at Genkaku. Genkaku used his right hand to unsheathe his sword and he used his left hand to grab 3 shuriken. As accurately as Genkaku could in the heap of the moment, he threw the 3 shuriken aiming for 3 of the kunai that the Kangaroo had thrown. As for the other 3 kunai, well Genkaku lifted his left arm up quickly, eating all three of them in his tricep. Genkaku knew if he held out for just a few more seconds he could win this fight, that is why he ate the kunai. And then came down the Kangaroo with his spear in hand.

Genkaku turned his body to the side quickly kicking out with his right leg, and slashing his sword with his right hand, simultaneously. As Genkaku turned his body, since the Kangaroo's momentum was caring the spear forward, it wasn't likely the spear would hit Genkaku's body; however, since the Kangaroo's momentum was caring him forward as well, it was likely that the kick or sword slash would hit. And if they did the Kangaroo would be pushed back into the trap, and well if they didn't, it was likely the Kangaroo would jump back in an attempt to dodge Genkaku's attacks. Either way it was likely the Kangaroo would fall backwards, away from Genkaku...

OOC: Yeah. Presuming that the trap will explode on impact.

The Kangaroo's momentum was slightly off target and caused him to lose the match. He already knew it; the spear may have not had much of a chance to hit as he moved, but surprisingly, by sending it with full force, he did. But that was the only positive as he was hit back with a sword, falling over head first into the trap. With an exploding note waiting, it gave second/third degree burns and couldn't continue the fight. Genkaku was pierced with the spear, but he was still standing and won the match.

The Kangaroo and Genkaku were treated and Shura agreed to become his companion. They left the next morning to start their adventure together.
