Going for an E-Rank. Chakra Kai. 800 Words. Nin-6 Wit-8 = 14*50= 700. 800-700=100 words needed. 400 word minimum.
Yuan sat in the safe house in... some part of the Lightening country. The location of the safe house was, of course, a secret to anybody but members of the Black Ops. The place was a small, simple house in the woods amongst the foothills of the mountains that made up a large part of the Lightening country. The house was hidden in a valley with a stream running through it and plenty of local wild edibles. A good strategic position for someone trying to remain hidden. Of course, shinobi were proficient hunters, but hunting and making a kill and of course the cleaning process could leave behind trackable traces of human presence. Eating edible wild plants left little to no sign of habitation and had little effect on local wildlife, even if it wasn't always the most expansive of menus.

Despite the dilapidated appearance of the shack, it was fairly comfortable on the inside. There was a very comfortable sofa which could double as a bed, and a small stove that was very efficient at heating the shack. There was a fire in the stove, keeping Yuan comfortably warm. The stove burned specially treated wood that produced next to no smoke. Shindara was studying a scroll with no identifying markings on it. Written on the scroll was the Chakra Kai jutsu. Yuan had procured it from his Outpost. The simple jutsu was one that even children in prep school could learn, but he had overlooked it during his time at school. Well, there was always time to rectify that overlook. And with his skills as they were now, he could learn the jutsu in a time period that was almost insignificant.

After studying the scroll for a while, Yuan felt he had the gist of the jutsu. Getting up from the sofa, he tossed the scroll into the stove, watching it burn until he could confirm that it was no longer legible. Making his way outside, he looked around, studying his surroundings. It really was a beautiful place. Being in the Black Ops did have its perks. Though he was usually busy with assignments, those were pretty fun, at least in his opinion, and then there were the occasional off times like this. Of course, things could get pretty boring during said down times... It was important to keep one's self busy. Yuan made his way down to the stream running through the center of the narrow valley. Kneeling, he scooped several hand-fulls of water and drank heavily. Dropping the water from his hands he gasped contentedly. He'd have to make his way to the nearest Outpost soon and see if there were any new missions. Things were starting to get pretty boring...

Stepping back from the stream, Yuan took a deep breath, focusing on his chakra control. It was time to try and practice the jutsu he had been reading about, the Chakra Kai. The jutsu was simple enough that a child could learn it relatively easily, but the actual applications for the jutsu in the field were virtually unending. It was really a vital technique for any shinobi, child or otherwise. The technique itself was really as simple as could be. Most jutsu, even simpler jutsu required at least a short string of hand seals to activate it and some level of chakra manipulation. The Chakra Kai was so simple, it only took a single hand seal and the slightest bit of chakra manipulation. Yuan figured it probably required less chakra than any other ninjutsu. Only taijutsu would require less.

Yuan made the single hand seal required for the technique and focused on his chakra. He tired to focus on releasing a small drop of his chakra on a single point, but was actually finding it difficult. He kept trying to do the simplest task of chakra manipulation, but found that it was impossible to focus the technique on a point because there was no point on which to focus. Releasing chakra, even in only the smallest of amounts like this, was not a very easy task. Channeling chakra from one point to another, or into a jutsu meant that the user had a target on which to focus. Without a target, it was hard to focus. It was like focusing on nothing, or rather, telling someone to think about nothing. It was virtually impossible to think about nothing. At least not without being dead.

Yuan sighed, ceasing his attempts. He walked over to a tree just uphill from the stream. Reaching into his long black overcoat, he rummaged around for a second before pulling out a tag. It was a flash bomb. It was risky using something like this outside of battle. it could give away his position. But, since he was surrounded by the steep walls of the valley, he wasn't all that concerned about the flash attracting to much attention. Of course, he was also in friendly territory, so he didn't really have to worry so much about enemies using it to pinpoint his location. No one was looking for him, so the chances of them noticing the flash would be low.

Walking back to the stream to give a bit of distance between himself and the flash bomb, Yuan turned and once again attempted the jutsu. He made the hand seal and focused on channeling the smallest bit of chakra into the tag. This time, it was much simpler. The tag began to crumple as though it was burning and suddenly it let out a large burst of light. Even with his eyes blindfolded by black cloth, Yuan had to squint. He shouldn't have been looking in the same direction. The flash dispersed quickly, and Yuan smirked to himself. Yes, this would be quite useful.
