[Pet/Lonely] One Big Momma

Post by Taiga » Tue Aug 20, 2013 11:32 am

Free time was nice, especially when said free time involved wandering around the many mountains that made up lightning country. Nearly two days into their voyage and the Jinrai family still hadn't yet reached their point of asylum- Kumogakure. Either way his father and mother approved of him wandering a bit for exercise, he was restless and they needed rest, and both were skilled sensors so they'd have no issue locating him.

About ten minutes from their base camp Amuro spotted a big cliff, and he honestly could not wait to try something. He had always wanted to cliff jump, to free fall and fly like an eagle, and though he had no way of flying he had an idea that his repulsive force could break a rapid landing, and hey, it was just water below so why not give it a go?

Running to the cliff he leaped with a ferocious roar, his heart pounding and his adrenaline soaring. This, was soaring. It was almost like he was the magnificent Harpy Eagle, his wings spread wide and diving for a target? Wait? Was that... well, it was! It was a massive harpy eagle bigger than even his daddy and mommy and it was heading right for him.

A normal kid would be scared and ready to fight to the death, but Amuro was not normal and instead he flapped his arms excitedly as he fell, the giant bird snatching his tunic with it's talons and lifting him high up. This was an amazing feeling! Least it was until it dawned on him that giant bird meant giant appetite meant giant prey and Amuro was a lot bigger than those killer rabbits and giant river mice. Was he going to be dinner?

As the bird flew, Amuro just calmly staid still, awaiting it to set him down at it's roost. In the meantime he examined it's hull, it's stride, it's wings... It seemed to be struggling on it's left side, obvious due to Amuro's slanted position and the fact that one of the wings was doing a lot more work then the other. When he could take a peek he did, and it took a while to get the angle right, but eventually he noticed an oddly sized harpoon in the birds side. It wasn't as big as whaling harpoons but it was easily four times larger and thicker than an arrow.

This bird was hurt, and though he felt bad, if he didn't exploit this he'd be dinner. Part of life's balance was killing for survival and nothing else. Wiggling his arm he pointed to the wound, both palms outwardly facing it as he licked his lips. However, he paused briefly. If he dropped the bird now it'd drop him, or fall with him and crush him. He still needed to wait for it to set him down, and as it headed towards it's roost he turned his head to see a large nest, notifying him he was seconds away. With a big sigh he waited long enough for the bird to fly close to the ground, and with that he released himself by leaping forward into a roll, his tunic tore completly however and in a moment the bird had wrapped it's talons around him, thrashing him and drawing blood. Quickly he channeled his body armor as vibrations shot out causing the bird to lose it's grip. It let out a mighty caw as he hurtled into the rock, rebounding slightly and rolling underneath the edge of a big one. This was not good.

The bird landed and began pecking, it's beak fitting into the crack and narrowly missing Amuro's face by a few inches. He crawled in reverse out the back end, ready to make a break for it down to the forest where the bird would have trouble navigating, however his escape kicked a loose rock as the bird caw'd once more and turned to him. It lunged forward aiming to throw it's beak into him and he barely rolled under the belly of the beast.

Pointing his hands at the harpoon he unleash two massive blasts of vibrating chakra, then rolled out behind it, causing the harpoon to vibrate and lodge itself straight through the bird. It let a wild roar and a few noises before it was silent and the bird fell. The area was covered in blood, and after the silence finally set in, Amuro sighed in relief that the predator had been slayed. However, something happened. As he killed the bird, he heard cracking behind him, then chirping.

He had killed a mother who had only wanted to feed her child. A mother much like his own, and as his heart sank, he fell to his knees. He was a monster.

However the little guy kept chirping, as he walked up to the edge, peering over to Amuro. It was like he wanted Amuro's attention? And then he remembered something his mother had once told him. Birds bonded after hatching to the first thing they saw, and with this, Amuro realized he had a chance of redemption.

"Houou" he grinned, naming it after the legendary bird of mythology, and after walking over to it, he chuckled.

"I'm one big momma myself."

Now he just had to take care of it and feed it.
