Meditation was always a good place to start. The sun was only just climbing the horizon, and Ishiguro Misaki sat on a mountain's edge, her legs folded beneath her and her wings enveloping her as if to hind her from some unseen foe. The world that was Kumo unfolded beneath her and as she brought her wings out and around to fold at her back, her strange eyes opened upon her the sight. This had been her home all her life, and for far too long she felt she had sat without meeting the standard set by her peers.

And as such, meditation was a good place to start. Here on the edge of a mountain she took deep breaths of the fresh air, bringing it into her lungs and body to rejuvenate herself. Most of all, she drew it in that it might mix with her own chakra within as she focused on that orb of power she envisioned rested at the center of her chest, just behind her solar plexus. She planned to learn something new today, a simple task to some but for her she still dedicated herself to the learning in the sternest fashion. Once satisfied that her mind was focused, her body and chakra was ready, she stood and turned to face the plain behind her. It was on this canvas she would paint her new artwork of wind.

She formed the seals, moving from one to the next deliberately, her body memorizing the motion as she felt the chakra swirl and move as a part of it all. She could feel the winds all around her swirling for her commands and for her caress and it brought a smile to the young woman's face even as she finished her seals. They began as small pools of air around her, three of them to be exact, that soon rose up into the air to become pillars of wind. They spun and danced as their maker grinned and mentally pronounced them as good, all the while she fed her chakra into them at a steady pace to keep them moving.

She may have made them, but she was no god, should she stop feeding them her supply of chakra, they would fall and they would fail, through no fault of their own. And so she fed them, her children as she saw them as. Many saw jutsu as tools but for Misaki each jutsu was a new experience, a new creation and even a new child. And so she fed this 'child creation' of hers with a smile on her face and watched the winds swirl. It was no strain on her system, she had plenty of chakra for such a thing, she simply was behind her peers in her training and as such had dedicated herself to this day of training.

She only released the chakra and let them fall when she was satisfied her work was complete, and she was ready to move on to the next one.

*Wind Element • Divine Wind
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals, the user generates three spinning pillars of wind up to eight meters away from them. The spinning pillars are thirty feet in height and five feet in width and will twirl around the user for two posts. The pillars can be used to knock back people or objects that have five or less strength or to fan flames and can move with a speed equal to the users (Nin+Control)/2, with a maximum speed of eight. Contact with these pillars results in cuts on the victim's body no more than three quarters of an inch deep. If the cut goes deep enough to hit bone, it will make a small fracture, but not be able to cut through entirely.

Misaki had to admit to feeling a bit strange, sitting at the hospital just to practice rather simple jutsu. In her days of training she’d not only been slacking off lately, she’d realized that there were basics she hadn’t bothered to train, and now she needed them. With the ongoing war, she had a great deal of work to do and surprisingly, for a jounin, she had been strangely inactive in the battles and missions going on. Much of it had been healing and working with her new body but the young woman felt she no longer had any excuse to give.

As such, she sat in the hospital with a friend of hers who happened to work there as well. It was late at night and the two had had very few patients thus far. “Thanks for letting me use you as a dummy here.” Misaki was saying.

The blonde-haired woman in front of her shrugged and simply smiled. “Hey, this is easy stuff so it’s fine.” She replied, waiting as Misaki looked over her notes.

Meanwhile Misaki picked up a small tube and formed a single handseal, channeling chakra into the object for a few moments with a light sigh. “This just feels weird, Etsuko.”

Etsuko rolled her eyes and shook her head at Misaki. “Oh please, we all start somewhere. You just gotta get back into things, you’ll get it, don’t worry about it.” She replied, motioning to Misaki to keep going with what she was doing.

Misaki frowned as she finished channeling chakra into the tube and reached over to put it in Etsuko’s mouth. She watched for a few moments, hoping the technique would work if only because it’d be rather embarrassing for her if she couldn’t even get an E rank right the first time, at least in her mind. Much to her satisfaction however the chakra began to gather and clump lower on the tub, closer to Etsuko’s lip than anything. It seemed the technique was working. “Well at least that one wasn’t a total bust.” She mentioned with a chuckle of relief.

Etsuko reached up and withdrew the tube from her lips and glanced at it in her hands before setting it down. “Not bad at all, just remember you don’t need to put quite so much chakra into it.” She told her. “It’s just an E rank, just basic work so no need to overdo it.” She added with a sly wink at Misaki who frowned slightly.

*[Iijutsu • Thermometer]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
This simple technique is utilized by medical-nin in place of traditional thermometers, although it is not as accurate. After forming a single handseal and focusing chakra into an object in his/her hand, the user can place it within the mouth (or rear) of the patient. If the patient's temperature is above normal body temperature, the chakra within the object will clump together near the top of it, while if the body temperature is below average, the chakra will form much lower down on the object. This technique can be held as long as the user has chakra.

Probably Misaki's favorite time at the dragon enclave was spent with the younglings. They were so full of energy and so full of life, just by trying to play with them the woman was pushed to her limits. Even today was no different. Up ahead of her she could see the little red tail disappearing in the distance, leaving behind all kinds of terrain that she had to get past in order to catch him. Never before in her life had a game of tag seemed like such an adventure. She raced after him, her feet barely missing the sharp stones of the mountain path and pounding against the dirt path ahead. As he turned and made his way up a hill, she turned and took off after him. At first the slope was small and she was able to simple run. She had left shoes behind sometime earlier in their play and now she could feel the grasses tickling her toes but the terrain did not stay so forgiving. Before long she was jumping over rocks that would bruise the undersides of her feet and stop her in her tracks. Every time she stopped with a yelp she'd look up and see the small dragon, sitting perched on a rock with a smile on his face and his own kind of giggle in his throat, tail twitching behind him in amusement.

She'd stick her forked tongue out at him of course, and watch him scamper away a moment before she started up after him again. She knew eventually her feet would get used to it, and maybe when she was stronger the older dragons would let her spend time with them, but so far only the younglings really seemed all that curious about her. The older of course saw her as some kind of strange abomination, an unnatural thing that had chosen to try and be like them, and hitting so very far from the mark. She told herself that she'd one day convince them otherwise.

But not today, today her game of tag had turned into a real climb already. Small pebbles gave way to larger rocks and then to boulders. She was reaching up and grabbing the top of one to pull herself up, sliding between a pair that were too close together and nearly getting her tail caught, and then climbing up on another. Before long she found herself on a bit of a plateau and straightened up, grinning as she caught sight of the little dragon she had followed up here. She rushed forward and scooped him up in her arms as he chattered in his native language, clearly feigning some kind of pain before suddenly leaping out of her arms.

Misaki couldn't help the gasp of shock as he launched himself right off the plateau, but a moment later she knew she had nothing to fear. His wings spread and he glided his way down but then the girl frowned. "Damn it, now I'm stuck." she muttered to herself as she looked down the rocky slope beneath her. "Guess I better start." she muttered, turning and dangling her feet over the edge until she felt rock beneath them. She would have to climb her way down and she knew that despite how long it would take to get there, it would take even longer to wait for rescue.
