Sou hated the Transformation technique. While he knew he looked different, he didn't feel it. It made him hyper aware of everyone else around him as he made his way through the camps, regarding the slaves with a cold indifference that made him feel sick to his stomach and nodding firmly to his 'fellow' soldiers. He never met their eyes though, constantly worried that his acting skills wouldn't be enough to disguise his disgust for these people and they'd make him. He was thankful he had added the broad hat that seemed to be common among the soldiers, it made it that much easier to avoid looking any of these bastards in the eye.

Every twenty meters or so he would find somewhere to plant an exploding tag, always making sure they were on supplies or something where they wouldn't be easily spotted and out of range of any civilians. They wouldn't do much, but he hoped that if he needed to go loud in his escape they would provide a decent distraction. He didn't think he'd actually wished Hayasu was around more than right at this moment. Crazy bastard would probably have just stormed the place the second they got there, which would have driven Sou up the wall, but at least it wouldn't be as gut-wrenching as what he was currently feeling.

Well, it probably would. But open combat was a gut-wrenching feeling he was used to. Sou was most definitely not keen on infiltration.

He spied the command tent, a clear shot about twenty meters away. There was a cleared path that led right up to the entrance, the tents flaps having been drawn closed. He wondered if that meant the commander wasn't it or if he was and was in a private meeting. Unfortunately, there was only one way to find out.

Not for the first time Sou wished he had spent the time to learn how to sense chakra.

From what Sou could tell, the Commander was definitely in, as the barks of orders carried out and across the campground. An old grizzled voice it was, and it radiated with experience and power. Whoever was in command was most certainly not a stranger to the position, but it was up to Sou how to proceed.

Hayasu was in the process of silently dispatching every guard he could isolate from the growing chaos as the camp was packing. At least a dozen or so guards by this point had been broken into pretzel like shapes, necks broken, or throats cut. Despite the bulky Hayasu not seeming to be stealthy, he was a highly trained shinobi after all. It wouldn't be long before he was ready to cover Sou should he manage to accomplish his task. Hayasu's was of a different goal. He was strategically placing himself between the bulk of the camp and Sou, whilst also being close enough to provide Sou support if it got ugly. He had the utmost faith in Kureiji being able to assist Sou, but he wouldn't take any chances with Sou's well being under his command. "Any day now Sou..take your time. Make sure you take him down good." Hayasu whispered softly, trying his best to keep his eyes on his targets, but also to watch Sou.

Kureiji whooped softly at Sou, sliding out from his "cuffs" and quietly sprinting into the growing mess of tents. It wouldn't take Sou long to see that certain guards were now unnaturally still, and with the right trained eyes it was quite clear they had been dispatched by the little monkey. He was clearly carving him a path closer to the tent, but even he had to be careful not to get spotted. Nobody truly knew who else could be lurking amongst all the men at the camp.

Sucking in a deep breath, Sou continued forward along the path Kureiji had cleared. He knew the monkey was trained, he was a ninja pet after all, but what he had just done was beyond insane. He didn't think even Hayasu could manage something like that. Pushing open the tent flap, he made sure to keep his head down as he looked at the commander. He was old, at least by a soldier's standards, probably in his late forties or early fifties. Thick greying beard and a bald head offset by a scarily powerful physique, he was obviously no pencil pusher. Sou's fingers twitched, wanting to run through a set of hand seals and end this here and now.

The grizzled old man looked up with narrow eyes and glared hard at Sou. Not for the first time Sou was glad he had mastered the art of the transformation technique long ago. He bowed as deeply as he could, almost prostrating himself before the old man, while he brought his hands up to his chest as if saluting while bowing and started to carefully weave through hand seals. "Commander."

"I didn't send for you soldier, why are you not at your post!?"

Glancing up from under the brim of his hat, Sou offered the man a blank look in response. No hatred, no joy, no feeling at all at what he was about to do. He felt the chakra welling up in his chest and knew it was time. "To do this, sir."

As the last breath of air escaped his lips with 'sir', his chakra roared to life and blasted forwards, a wave of wind escaping his lungs and shaping into thin blades. It was one of the most devastating techniques Sou knew and he hoped that he had aimed it well enough to avoid the civilian prisoners he had taken note of outside the tent.

The old commander's gaze went from a stern command to that of sheer horror. "A SHINOBI?! NOOOO~!" the commander screamed, having no chance to escape or defend himself before being eviscerated. Clumps of the man fell into a gore filled pile before a mist of blood sprayed across the tents. As with the techniques nature, the blades continued forward and shredded through tents and soldiers alike. Sou had done an excellent job at angling it, as multiple soldiers fell. It wasn't until it nearly reached what appeared to be a civilian that it seemed to halt. The "civilian" snarled and formulated seals before a hot burning armor of flame surrounded him. While the technique was more notorious for Taijutsu, it would suit his needs to stop the blades of wind. The moment it appeared, the wind was engulfed and snuffed before the man's burning gaze looked at Sou. "I cannot risk exposure yet. But I will tell you this, Shinobi of Kumogakure. I will hunt you and kill you for this." He growled before turning and sprinting away, a wave of guards flooding after him as they charged forward towards Sou. "HE KILLED THE COMMANDER! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!"

Kureiji whooped at Sou excitedly, but hissed as the rogue Shinobi made his point and fled. By this point, Kureiji had managed to cut the chains off of the slaves and ushered them to sprint in the other direction. Oddly, the path seemed cleared quite nicely by either Hayasu or Kureiji, a perfect escape route into the various caves around the area. Kureiji leapt forward and drew three of his blades, balancing on Sou's head and snarling a ferocious, but adorable warcry. The monkey was ready for it, and would back Sou up any way he needed.

Hayasu took note of the alarms now chiming everywhere. "THE COMMANDER IS DEAD! guards screamed, pouring towards the command tent. It looked like shit was about to hit the fan. "Alright, time to drop the stealth tactics and get Sou out of here. What a fine shinobi he's become." Hayasu grinned, stretching a little before letting out the loudest battlecry he could muster. The man's voice echoed throughout the entire camp, bone rattling and chilling. "THOSE WHO DARE CROSS MY PATH WILL FACE ME. YOU SEEK TO ENSLAVE THE WEAK, I SEEK TO KILL THOSE WHO PREY ON THEM." Hayasu announced before beginning his rampage. Mustering every bit of speed and strength the man had, he began to pummel, jab, and break everything in his path. Forming hand signs, Hayasu began to sprint forward at full speed. His arms blazed with a blackened, shadowy chakra as he began his charge. Explosive blasts of chakra tore through flesh and bone as he headed to assist Sou, clouds of dust, death, and smoke in his wake. The true Thundering Fist was unleashed, and nobody would dare oppose him.

He'd never used that technique on a person before. He'd seen what it had done to the trees and stones he'd practiced it on but there was a distinct difference when using it on a live human. Fighting against the bile that was rising in his throat, Sou did his best to ignore the puddle of gore that had been the commander of these insurrectionists only a moment earlier and focused his attention on the rest of the carnage he had created. There was basically a perfect line of destruction, destroyed tents and cargo and eviscerated corpses that led him straight to the man they were there to stop. The flames wrapped around his body made it hard to make out any details but those eyes send a shiver down Sou's spine. That man was a killer, ruthless and frightening. Sou began weaving a set of hand seals to begin pursuit but found his path to his quarry quickly blocked by soldiers.

"Shit. Come on, monkey, let's get moving." Sou couldn't take on that many soldiers head on, not so soon after using one of his strongest Ninjutsu. Turning back the way he had come, Sou charged back along the path he had taken originally. His disguise was useless to him now, the soldiers having seen him before he could move, so the transformation was dropped in favour of conserving chakra. He flicked through a short set of hand seals each time he ran past one of the exploding tags he had set earlier, igniting the chakra. He didn't even pause to watch the explosion, just trusting that he had set them in places that would destroy the soldiers' supplies and help cover his escape. He needed to time to regroup and plan a counter assault.

Then he heard obnoxious screaming in the distance and couldn't help but smile a little. A combination of relief and exasperation filled him to his core. That dumbass had apparently come back and made it in time to make sure Sou didn't get himself killed.

"Looks like your human managed to not get himself killed. Want to go say hi?" Changing his path, Sou pulled out a kunai and ran through a set of hand seals before throwing it at the soldier closest to him, trying to block his way to Hayasu. The one kunai quickly turned into 5 and peppered his breastplate and helmet. Whether any broke through and struck flesh didn't really matter at this point, it was just a distraction so Sou could spin past the man and keep running.

'I hope you have a plan you crazy monkey bastard!'

Kureiji whooped excitedly, hearing Hayasu. His best friend was in full rampage, and that was something to behold! Spinning off of Sou's head, the Monkey screeched and flailed around into a whirlwind of steel and death. While it wasn't the most incredible display, the raw speed and slashing made for a very excellent distraction as the monkey essentially because a bladed top. He spun at a near violent speed, a gust in the wind as the little bastard carved a path straight toward Hayasu's voice whilst assisting Sou in distracting the guards. They would be able to kill plenty alone, but not when so heavily surrounded.

"ARCHERS! AT THE READY! ...FIIIIRE!" a liutenant screamed, a volley of arrows spraying from the far side of Sou. It appeared they got a solid lock. However, Kureiji caught wind just in time and sped as fast he could to Sou. He ran up and leapt off right above Sou's head, just in time for a half a dozen arrows to slam toward them. The monkey grinned and cut the arrows out of the air with a much more graceful barrage of slashes. The arrows splattered around. Kureiji fell to the ground triumphant, but apparently miscalculated, as one more arrow lagged behind straight toward Sou. Screeching, Kureiji didn't have the time to ready a slash and did the only thing he could; he dove in front of Sou and ate an arrow straight into his leg. While it wouldn't be a mortal wound, especially not for a human, Kureiji was far smaller. The little monkey howled in pain and ripped the arrow out. His leg was in fairly bad shape, but he had managed to obey Hayasu's direct order; don't let anything bad happen to Sou.

Hayasu by this point had already cleaned up about an eight of the entire camp, corpses and bodies littered all around as the behemoth bellowed and roared with challenging laughter. "YOU LITTLE BITCHES THINK YOU CAN TAKE KUMO?! YOU CAN'T EVEN TAKE ME ON!" he boomed, as a guard ran screaming at him. The guard's blade fell onto Hayasu, whom easily grabbed the blade itself. The blade cut a bit into his hand, but that wasn't a problem. Hayasu grinned as he bent the blade over and snapped it. Cheaply made swords for cheap owners. He then grabbed the man by his throat and with a grotesque display of pure brawn tore it out and tossed him aside.

It was at this moment however that Hayasu heard something he never, EVER wanted to hear. Kureiji's scream wasn't far, but it was enough. His heart sank immediately. For all the warrior, hilarity, and craziness, Hayasu cared about the monkey more then anyone else. They were companions. They were brothers. And the pain shot straight into Hayasu's soul. "K...KUREIJI!" He called out, sprinting full force head on into another pack of guards. Instead of psychological warfare, Hayasu was not allowing a moments pause. His muscles tensed and flexed to add mass to them, punching and crushing a guards face straight from the front of his helmet before immediately spinning and taking out two more into a handstand kick before landing and continuing. With one more mighty leap, he launched himself over a line of tents and straight into Sou's fray, his eyes burning with concern and for the first time fear.

Immediately, he grabbed Kureiji and cradled him, blood oozing down the little guys leg. As feisty as ever, Kureiji screeched and hissed, clearly not liking the fact he was now almost immobile. "Sou, cover me for a moment! I need to stop the bleeding." Hayasu announced, two more guards rushing forward. They didn't have much more time before another volley was launched. Hayasu slid part of the bandages off his hand and ripped them immediately, wrapping them around Kureiji as he did his best to mend first aid.

Hiyakutisu - Spinning Top
D-Ranked Kenjutsu Maneuver
In this technique, the user switches from the typical critical blows to a general whirlwind of blows, which while much less effective in terms of damage, is useful in distraction or to cut many foes at once. Wounds inflicted are patterned to flare up with pain when those muscle areas tighten, causing moves the opponent's make to recoil slightly on their bodies, the wounded areas acting as a detrimental pain in their actions. The user has to be moving and spinning for this to be active, allowing them to hit multiple targets that are within range.

B - Ranked - Kenjutsu Stance
Prerequisite: 25 Instinct
Kureiji has gotten so precise after intensely training himself in his own Kenjutsu, he's now able to deflect/catch arrows or projectiles up to five points under his speed and strength. Kureiji has to remain stationary for this to happen, and suffers a -10 penalty to speed should he be moving and attempt this.

Hayasu

Drunken Monkey: Strength of the Gorilla
B -Rank - Taijutsu Stance
Requires 25 Strength
The user tenses their muscles and keeps more control of their movements, allowing for more precise striking and adding better control of their strength into each blow, but they lose the unpredictability of the style. The user has complete control over their own body’s strength and can adjust it accordingly for adding power into their strikes. This is an improvement against Strength of the Chimp, as the user has gained almost complete mastery of their movements, wasting almost no effort at every strike. By only taking on the few stragglers left in Kureiji's path with a few well-placed slices with his kunai, Sou continued to avoid using any chakra. He could still feel his system straining from using so much at once; he had the necessary chakra reserves for such techniques but his control left something to be desired. So when he heard the call for archers, he cursed to the high heavens and began to weave a new set of hand seals to fend off the attack and turn the arrows right back on their owners. Before he even had a chance to complete the technique however there was a bundle of fur and steel right in the path of his technique. Letting out another curse, he ceased melding his chakra and watched as the monkey danced in the air.

"Damn it, Kureiji, move!"

Of course his warning fell on deaf ears and an arrow pierced the monkey, an animalistic wail escaping the small creature. Darting in, he took a pair of kunai out and guarded the monkey from the few soldiers who had charged in using the arrows as an opening. Without time to summon his platforms Sou resorted to copying Kureiji's movements from earlier and became a spinning top, flowing around the soldiers like a river around rocks. With each pass his blades found purchase and within a matter of moments they were sliced to ribbons. Just in time as well as out of nowhere the rampaging form of Hayasu appeared.

Sliding his blades back into his thigh holster, Sou positioned himself between the duo and the line of archers. "I've got you." His hands came together at his chest and he began weaving his fingers through hand seals, his chakra flowing and building up along his arms and in his palms. He watched and waited as the archers drew back their arrows. Too soon and they would realize the trap, too late and the wall wouldn't form in time. He had to get this right, or his ploy may just get them all killed. As the first archer's arrow loosed, Sou clapped his hands together in front of him. A gust of wind escaped from his fingertips, rushing outwards for a moment before rapidly flattening and spreading out until a wall of gale-force wind appeared right in the path of the volley of arrows.

Sou couldn't help but smirked as the first of the projectiles was turned right back towards the archer it came from.

"That should hold for a minute. How is he?"

Hayasu had quickly gone into damage control, managing to bind the wound together as best as he could. He couldn't do much, but he immediately began to channel basic Raiton chakra, injecting it to numb the area to help Kureiji with the pain. He was no medical-nin so it would do no real good, but at least it would ease the pain. At Sou's words, Hayasu didn't respond right away. He gently cradled the little warrior into his arms, to which he whooped. Hayasu slid him into his back, to which Kureiji reluctantly went into Hayasu's gi, Hayasu moving up from his crouched state. Blood covered his hands. "He will survive Sou. Thank you for covering us. I think it's about time we really let loose, eh? I'm going to make every single one of these bastards pay. Every. Single. One." Hayasu growled, clenching his fists as his arms tensed and lit up with the pure, huge mass of muscle gleaming. It was time to take care of business. "Stay close, if you need a break, take cover and give me a heads up."

With those final words, Hayasu turned to the archers, quite a few screaming in horror and pain from Sou reversing their arrows against them. His march was different. It wasn't goofy, it wasn't a stance, it wasn't even a trained one. It was a walk of pure and utter rage. This quicky migrated from a walk, to a jog, into a full on sprint. He began to form handseals in quick succession, two cannonball sized orbs of black Raiton forming in his hands. As fast as he could, a blur of moment to most eyes, he began to chuck the cannonballs in an extreme fashion. The orbs detonated on impact as bodies began to explode and break apart. The horrible screams echoed while Hayasu's unending rampage continued. The archers took a direct hit, wiping out the rest of their unit before Hayasu calmed his demeanor a bit. It wouldn't do them any good if he exhumed his chakra supply too quickly. He panted a bit and stretched. If not chakra, back to raw muscle.

He cracked his knuckles and stretched, what seemed like the remaining force of the bandit faction finally rallying together. Roughly a hundred and fifty strong, the units had managed to almost surround them, save the path he had just tore through. He knew Sou was a capable fighter, but this would be a good indicator of just how strong he was. He knew it was better to wait on them, as rushing into that many even for Hayasu would be a poor choice. He readied himself into his famous Drunken Monkey stance and nodded as the first wave charged.

"I get you're angry but don't lose your head, Hayasu. We have Ninjutsu on our side but they still out number us a hundred and fifty to two. Those aren't good odds. I'm already paying for using so many Ninjutsu back to back. I can maybe cast one or two more before I'm done, I'll probably pass out from chakra exhaustion." But of course his warnings meant nothing, not to a man in a rage. Hayasu was walking towards them, in a straight and clear path that any of the soldiers could have easily intercepted. The fact they didn't was a small miracle. Shaking his head in annoyance, Sou remained behind his wind wall for a moment longer to let his system recover and prepare his assault.

Taking all of his remaining kunai, Sou opened up one of the other pouches on his belt and withdrew his last six exploding tags. Carefully he tied them off on the ring-shaped pommel of the blades, making sure they wouldn't come loose during flight. Two loud explosions suddenly rocked the ravine and Sou looked up to see giant areas of black lightning cascading through the ranks of soldiers. 'Okay, that is kind of impressive.' His explosives secured and plan set in mind, Sou ran through a set of hand seals and winced at the pain he felt drawing on even more chakra. Just a few more techniques, that was all he needed.

High in the air above the soldiers a series of glowing platforms appeared, angled towards each other. Another appeared just in front of the wind wall. Taking up the rigged kunai, Sou stepped through the wall, the wind buffeting his hair and jacket, before stepping up onto the platform. The energy in the stand shot the Chuunin upwards, aimed straight at one of the three platforms above the fray. During his flight Sou took careful aim and began rapidly throwing his kunai, going for clusters of soldiers that were far enough away from Hayasu that the explosion wouldn't hurt the Jounin but close enough that they were a direct threat.

More explosions rocked the arena and Sou remained airbourne, bouncing between the three platforms over and over again, sweat pouring from him in waves as the exhaustion began to catch up.

Hayasu, for all of his rage and ferocity, was not completely dimwitted. In fact, his random bursts of intelligence often caught most off guard. It wasn't that Sou was wrong. In fact, Sou was completely correct about his irrationality. However, there was one thing that put Hayasu into a bloodlust such as this, and that was harming a friend. A soldier charged him and aimed a diagonal cut at the shoulder. Hayasu expertly dodged, reaching below the man to grab his ankle and pull him up. With raw unchallenged strength, he began to slam the man into other soldiers. A literal human weapon! Bemused at his own awful humor, he threw the man well above the others and into a nearby group, beating his chest and roaring another challenge. "You only have one chance to lay down your arms and surrender you filth! If you do as such, you will receive a fair trial and make it through this day. This I swear. However;" he paused, a another man aiming a thrust of a spear toward's Hayasu, only to have his face caved in by the giant's fist. "If you continue to attack myself and my partner, you WILL die. This I swear." He growled out, a few soldiers starting to look wearily on. A few broke and immediately cowered in fear, laying down their weapons.

Hayasu gazed around as more seemed to pour to him. Despite his anger and desire to slaughter them all as punishment, he had a moral code to follow. Anyone not willing to fight any longer and no longer presented themselves as a threat were protected by this. At least until a poor sod decided to try and use this against him, pulling a hidden dagger. The man lurched at Hayasu, managing to dig it into his shoulder. Hayasu didn't flinch. He turned and stared the man down, the man immediately soiling himself and falling to his knees. Was this man truly this unstoppable?! If this wasn't even Kumo's strongest, who dare stood a chance amongst the camp?! Hayasu lifted the man up and in a feat of pure strength, literally ripped him in half. He threw the two pieces aside and beat his chest again, much like that of a gorilla before grabbing another, this time throwing him as hard as he could into the air. "Sou, got a bit of target practice for you!" he grinned, the man screaming for his life. They had fairly been warned, and now needed to pay the price.

Sou watched the carnage below from his vantage point and couldn't help the scowl that was forming. There was a distinct difference between using Ninjutsu that could tear someone apart, that was simply designed that way, to literally picking someone up and tearing them in two with sheer physical strength and then having the audacity to laugh and make jokes about it. The Chuunin ignored the body parts that Hayasu literally threw up towards him, the sight making him gag more than a little. He was uncomfortable with what his Wind technique has done to the commander earlier, and there was basically nothing left to gag over with that incident.

Relying entirely on taijutsu at this point, as the next technique he tried to fire off would probably leave him entirely drained, Sou picked off his targets carefully. His aim was always true but his strength was never the greatest, so he couldn't just pierce straight through the armour like Hayasu could. Any that were obviously surrendering Sou was quick to leave alone, any that were making a move towards Hayasu copped a kunai or shuriken to the exposed part of their neck or peppered with a few to force them to retreat.

"Accept the surrender, you're done people. We can do this all day if necessary, but eventually you will all fall. Remember, we're ninja. Ninja to nasty shit to nasty people. If you're repentant, you might just get to live to see tomorrow." He was lying through his teeth, Sou was running on fumes. But all the way above them, projecting his voice so they all heard but couldn't quite see him in detail, it gave him the confidence to try and bluff their way out of this mess.

What Sou didn't understand was okay. He was still new to war. Hayasu had been practically born into it early in his shinobi career. He didn't laugh because he enjoyed it, he laughed to keep his own mental sanity intact. He had faced thousands of foes. Some stood no chance, some nearly took his life. The only thing he could never afford to do was hesitate. After a while, the mounds of corpses and wounded began to overrun the soldiers, and before long a full retreat/surrender was in order. What remained was roughly thirty or so troops, all falling to their knees after discarding their weapons. "H-He's not human!" one cried, shaking their heads as the blood and soil mixed into it.

Hayasu soon reverted to his usual self, as an overwhelming sadness began to crawl over him. He truly did not enjoy having to be so brutal, but it was how he was raised. His sensei always pushed him to his upper limits. To be brutally effective, and to never accept defeat. While it was grotesque and vile, Hayasu's brutality was a powerful psychological warfare tactic. Not many men could stomach the things he did to his foes, especially not their allies. One man had puked from all of the carnage, Hayasu nodding over at Sou. "You fought well Sou...Try to find yourself some water and supplies. If you happen to find anything of interest, let me know." Hayasu ordered, soon searching around for a rope. Finding a nice thickened bundle, he tossed one end to a surrendered soldier whom blinked and held on. "Hold it tight. You loosen it and I'll know. I don't want to kill anyone else today if I can afford it." Hayasu suggested, the man frantically nodding before Hayasu began to sprint around them. His blurred movement was nothing as impressive as his sensei's or other shinobi, but for his bulk, it would not be scoffed at.

Within a few minutes, he bundled the soldiers tight enough, albeit uncomfortably into a tied mass of flesh and armor. Grunts of pain echoed out, something Hayasu ignored before pausing to check on Kureiji, whom was still quite wounded but would make it. Relieved, Hayasu looked around. "If one of you has medicine or leads me to some, I'll let you live." Hayasu stated, one managing to grunt his acknowledgement and nodding over to a supply tent. Hayasu nodded and jogged over, rummaging around until he found some salve and fresh bandages. Quickly, he got to work to Kureiji, who was near unconcious from the pain. Luckily, this would stave off infection until he could get him proper care.

He returned over to the mass and pulled the man free, making sure to tighten the rope before tossing the man aside. What puzzled him however, was it wasn't a man, but a boy. The boy shook his head, clearly in shock. Hayasu crouched low and gazed at him. "I do not ask you to understand, to forgive, or to forget this. I'm a shinobi. I'm paid to do a job for the greater good of my village. I want you to understand this and remember this. We aren't all horrible monsters. Terrible atrocities. Awful people. We're only soldiers with people we care about." Hayasu paused, reaching to his gi and handing the boy some food before ushering him off. "Go spread the word to any patrols, any rebels, any mercenaries that seek to challenge Kumogakure. Tell them that if they ever set food in my lands or threaten my village, I will come for them. You are to tell them the tale of Hayasu Juko. The man with godlike strength. The Monkey King of Kumogakure. The warrior. The shinobi." He finished, letting the boy go whom ran and discarded his armor that barely fit. Hayasu snorted and turned to check on Sou.

When it was clear that Hayasu's display and successfully discouraged any further fighting, Sou considered dropping down into the crowd but thought better of it and angled his descent so he would be well away from the reach of any weapons. After all it wasn't Hayasu who had assassinated their commander. A shudder ran down Sou's spine which he was quick to suppress. It had been necessary. What Hayasu had done, giving in to his rage and making a display was all during the course of open combat. His enemies had a chance to fight back, despite Hayasu's overwhelming strength. Sou had not given the commander any such chance. But… it had been necessary. He had to believe that.

Looking up towards the sky, barely visible through the cloud cover, Sou let out a long sigh. His arm began to quiver and he quickly reached across and grabbed it as hard as he could, trying to stop the shaking. He wasn't sure if it was because of the stress of using so many ninjutsu finally catching up to him or his body was disobeying his mind and reacting to his fear. In either case, now wasn't the time. They were still in enemy territory, despite the surrender, and there was still the distinct possibility they could be ambushed by the rogue shinobi that Sou had let escape. "Shit… I need to let Hayasu know."

Making a wide berth around the tied-up prisoners, Sou followed Hayasu's tracks until he found the behemoth giving a big speech to some kid. He waited until he was done, suppressed the snort he wanted to give at the title of Monkey King, and waited until the kid was out of ear shot before he jerked his head in a direction away from the prisoners. Once they were out of ear shot, Sou levelled an even glance at the larger man. "King? Being a bit presumptuous, don't you think?" He pulled a canteen and some rations from his hip pouch, left-overs from their stopover in Hayasu's tree house, and tossed them to the man. "We have a problem. The rogue we thought might in charge of all this? Definitely exists. He also definitely got away. Used some kind of fire ninjutsu to stop my wind blades from cutting him to pieces."

Shaking his head, he turned to look at their prisoners and the slaves that were beginning to poke their heads out of the tunnels after Hayasu had freed many of them. "Are we leaving them or taking them back to Kumo? You know most of the soldiers will likely just end up being executed anyway. And the trek back over the mountains with this many prisoners and civilians in tow… it won't be easy." He didn't want to kill them. He had enough blood staining his hands for today. But he didn't want to leave them either, for being left alone this high in the mountains without a guide and a large amount of supplies was tantamount to a death sentence anyway.

Hayasu's embarassment showed, a nervous laugh escaping his lips as he goofily waved it off. "It was in the moment, and you know how I am with monkeys! They love me!" He said appreciatively, listening to Sou's report. Shaking off the light joking, Hayasu's brow furrowed as he let out a sigh. He wasn't angry at Sou or anything, on the contrary, he was extremely pleased with Sou's performance as both a shinobi and a friend. What troubled the man was the Shinobi. Who was he? An usurper in his country? A possible tyrant? Or a rogue agent? There were to many questions and not nearly enough time to go through them all. The fire jutsu was a good indicator, as Kumogakure would have a listing of any current missing shinobi that used primarily Fire jutsu. This was also assuming that the Shinobi primarily used Fire however.

"This is puzzling and a problem indeed. We're going to need to report this to headquarters. I would imagine we're going to have a manhunt on our hands now that we've confirmed his existance." Hayasu furthered, scratching his chin before crouching a bit. The additional problem of all the civilians also posed an issue. Sou was entirely right, they couldn't just leave them. The civilians would be welcome in Kumogakure or a nearby village if escorted, but it was definitely out of there way. However, there was no choice. "I think that decision will be best left to headquarters when we get back. I don't want to force feed the village more civilians without proper approval. This was more then we thought." Hayasu added in, trying to consider all possibilities. He nodded his own approval after making up his mind. "The only thing we can do for now is alert Kumogakure. There should be a watchpost not far from here that we can send out a report and request for the civilians. A team would need to be dispatched to handle this, as it's outside our scope for the moment. For now lets head to the nearest village. The civlians can at least be made to work and the soldiers under guard there until reinforcements can arrive." Hayasu explained, turning to overview them. The slaves were all mostly fragile, underfed and malnourished. But even a sickly beast was still dangerous.

Hayasu beckoned a few slaves over, an older man seemingly having rallied and took charge of the situation during the chaos. "My partner and I have business we must attend, but Kumogakure will never abandon it's people while the Raikage is in power. Whatever men or women you have who can wield any kind of weaponry need to be brought forward. Anyone else is going to have to scavange what food and supplies you can. It's about a half a days walk to the nearest village. Sou and I will escort you survivors and soldiers until we reach there. From there, we're going to summon a recovery team to get you people home or settled. The soldiers shouldn't be much of a fight after all of that, however, don't trust any of them as you know what they're capable of. Do not let them overcome you. You will only need to make a few nights at the village before our reinforcements can take over. Time is of the essence for Sou and I, so we will only be able to stay the evening before we have to return for our report." Hayasu explained, the man nodding his salt and peppery head, turning with a few others to rally. In total, only about a dozen or so men and women were in any condition to put up a fight. Between them and the local guards, it would be enough to keep the peace, if only for a couple nights. A few others, mostly the children fanned out across the smoldering camp and began to gather supplies. A wagon had managed to be located, to which two oxen were herded and attached. Before long, a caravan was established that would suffice.

Hayasu proceeded to organize the dozen, making a perfect half circle around the back side of the mob. By this point, most of the soldiers were properly restrained and searched for any weaponry, and the caravan was ready to leave. Hayasu took point with Sou as they began the journey. Before they departed Hayasu stopped Sou and pulled him aside. The behemoth's hand gently patted Sou's shoulder. "You did good out there today my friend. If you need to talk, I've got your back. Are you okay otherwise?" Hayasu reassured, nodding at Sou.

Sou frowned but nodded his agreement with the plan. Short of killing the soldiers and leaving the slaves to fend for themselves, it was their best option; even if it did take them further away from Kumo before they could finally start heading home. The mission wasn't over yet and it didn't sit well with Sou that they weren't going to try and track the rogue. Realistically though he didn't have the gas to keep going and pick a fight with a potentially more powerful shinobi, and Kureiji still required proper medical attention. "I'll take a look around, find the best path through the caves and out of this ravine." Sou wanted to get as far away from the sight of this massacre as fast as he possibly could. So, while Hayasu rallied the slaves and got to organizing their voyage, Sou vanished into the cool darkness of the cavern system and let the shakes return uninhibited.

As he marched, path lit by a simple flare instead of having to navigate in darkness like on his way into the ravine, Sou couldn't help but wonder what the point of all this had been. What could drive someone to abandoning their home, everything they've been trained and raised to protect, and turn an army against it? Sou had been through the civil war, had fought on the front lines alongside the samurai of Lightning Country attempting to restore order to a torn land. Why would someone risk the fragile peace they had barely managed to scrape together? It just didn't make sense. War was a horrible thing, the needless loss of lives over something so pathetic as a conflict of ideals, and yet people like their missing rogue would start the war anew for their own personal ambitions.

It made him sick to his stomach.

The sudden shock of bright light hitting his eyes snapped Sou from his internal monologue and he looked out to see a slightly worn path that led down through the forested side of the snowy mountain. It'd be a dangerous hike, especially given the sun would be setting soon, but it was far better than the alternative. A hop, skip, and jump later had Sou with an armful of branches that he proceeded to set alight and start marking a path back through the caves. It took him a few attempts to figure out the path he had been following, given he found the way out while he hadn't been paying attention.

When he was back in the ravine, he saw the slaves gathered and soldiers secured with Hayasu getting ready to leave. Sou slinked up beside the Jounin and motioned to the proper cave entrance, the glow of the fires emanating from within. "That way should be wide enough to accommodate any supplies they're bringing, but we should definitely get moving. I don't want to have to deal with any hungry wolves coming out when the sun goes down." He paused when Hayasu clapped him on the shoulder, considered relaying his concerns to the older man but decided against it. Right now, they had work to do. "I'm good. Let's get moving."

Hayasu nodded, knowing that even if Sou was still uncertain of himself, he at least had offered his council. He turned to face the crowd. "Lets move out, just as instructed. I would suggest to you soldiers that you heed my previous warnings. You will be seen to a fair trial. The less your struggle the greater a favorable result will be in your future." Hayasu warned one more time before heading for the cave system. In a rather clumsy, sluggish fashion, the caravan dragged forward and started to get its rhythm. Hayasu entered the caves and carefully navigated through them with relative ease thanks to Sou's pathing.

After a moderate distance, they made out to the other side, the ray's of light beaming against the many faces that followed. The trees breezed from the cool mountain air, the sound of gravel crunching under boots and the breaths of the marching people heading forward. The path was well worn due to patrols, but Hayasu was confident that if they hadn't been pressured now that it was unlikely to run into much more trouble before reaching their destination. The convoy pressed onward.

It wasn't long into their day however that the wagon wobbled and fell, the oxen continuing to move. Pausing, he turned to investigate whilst stopping the group. Examining the wagon he came to the realization that the axels that held the oxen to the cart were busted, possibly do from the fighting and rough terrain. Deciding it wasn't worth the delay to fix, Hayasu gently took Kureiji out of his gi and set the monkey on the driver seat , turning away and grabbing each side of the wagon. With a mighty grunt, he lifted the pegs up to re-steady it, nodding at Sou before marching forward. A few slaves and soldiers blinked, still not used to such feats of strength, but marched anyway.

Roughly half a day passed as thought, the sun starting to sink over the mountains before the dim light of lanterns and a sizeable village loomed. It would appear they had made it. Hayasu lugged forward, just behind the majority of the group. However, the unshakable feeling of being watched itched at Hayasu. He had the feeling the trip was not as smooth as he had though, and would need to discuss with Sou about the feeling. If it was the Shinobi, he would of figured Hayasu being vulnerable would be perfect to attack, so Hayasu ruled him out. The most likely case was mountain life or the remnant of the patrols, seeking to free their companions. Either way, he knew it was imperative to get to the village and fortify it as best as he could before they resumed their hunt for the Shinobi.

Traveling with such a large party, especially when he was the cause for half of their damnation and the other half their salvation, made Sou incredibly uncomfortable. He spared what food he had, giving it to the younger children regardless of if they were soldiers or former slaves, and quickly made his way to the front of the caravan. He kept a few steps ahead, scouting the path despite his exhaustion making it hard to keep his eyes open. He could rest when they reached the village and set up some kind of defensive perimeter, until then he had to press on. He heard the commotion from behind and turned back just in time to see Hayasu showing off yet again; Sou shook his head in exasperation at the display. Sou was exhausted but Hayasu was wounded, yet he clearly had the energy to be showing off.

When he thought about it, he considered just how lucky he was to get out of that entire situation without a single scratch. There was something to be said for the stealthier approach, after all. Admittedly without Hayasu serving as a distraction he likely would've been forced to abandon the fight and retreat into the caves as soon as the commander had been assassinated. That had been his original plan, using the explosions to cover which cave he went into. So maybe there was something to be said for both methods.

It never ceased to amaze Sou that people lived up in the mountains. The large village was nestled in a clearing between the mountains, surrounded on all sides with only a single path in or out. The large falls in the background fell into a river that ran through the village and disappeared further down the mountainside, large chunks of ice visible in the rushing water. An attack on this place would be difficult for foot soldiers but so easy for a shinobi. The mountains formed a natural defence against those without chakra, but Sou could easily and quickly scale the mountain and bombard the village from above.

As he approached he noticed the very lax security the village had and snorted. He supposed, they probably didn't get too many threats up this way. A single sentry stood at what was meant to be the entrance to the village; there was no wall or gate but the main road ran through there. The guy was clearly bored and tired, probably waiting for the night guard to take his place. Sou let out a shrill whistle to attract his attention.

"The hell? Oi! What you doin' 'ere? You ain't the huntin' party."

Hunting party? Interesting.

"I'm from Kumogakure, I have a large party that require shelter for the night, we can't make it back to our village tonight. We can pay."

The look on the man's face had steadily been growing fouler until Sou mentioned money. A greedy grin suddenly settled on his face and he strutted forward, swinging his makeshift spear up over his shoulders and leaning in close to Sou's face. The man was probably a solid six inches taller than Sou, but the blond simply offered him a raised eyebrow in response.

"You pay me first, then I get the village chief an' maybe he'll let your lot stay."

Sou smiled sweetly at the man, cocking his head to the side as he considered the sheer number of openings he had to exploit. Stepping forward, he intertwined their ankles and then he pressed forward, dropping the guard onto his arse in the gravel and snow. Twisting around, he grabbed the spear and yanked it from his grasp, spinning it up over his shoulders and mimicking the guard's earlier stance. "I guess ya didn' 'ear me when I said I's from Kumogakure. That means ninja, ya dumb shite." Sou also mimicked the man's accent, his patience disappearing. "Come on now, get yer arse up and take me to ya chief, awright?" The man nodded and scrambled to his feet, clearly quaking in fear. Sou shook his head in frustration, his fringe falling into his head, and he tossed the spear back to the guard. "Chop, chop."

As the man ran into the village to grab the chief Sou waited patiently for the rest of the group to catch up. He still needed to sort out the details with Hayasu as to whether they were staying the night or simply going for reinforcements straight away.

Hayasu had chuckled a bit from the distance, setting down the cart while he watched Sou's display. It appeared Sou had a little fun after all when having to get serious. As he stepped forward, watching the man flee, he noticed two burlier guards stepping to flank Sou. Having had enough of being a show off, Hayasu stood next to Sou and stated a little loudly; "You did awfully well back there Sou. It's a dreadful shame that nobody else wanted to pick a fight with us though. I could use another exercise."[/b] He stated, sending devlish grin to the guards whom immediately returned to their posts.

Before long, the first one returned with the village chief, a rather elderly man who was clearly long past his prime. Hayasu politely bowed. "Rōjin-sama, I am Hayasu Juko of Kumogakure. This is my current partner, Sou Nukegara. We seek shelter and warmth for the cold mountain night. We have coin we can provide from Kumogakure as well as labor for the evening. We would be happy to help as best as able, in return for your humble assistance." Hayasu stated as politely as possible.

The old man shakily nodded, his beard as ghostly white as Hayasu's hair. "Very well Master Shinobi, we will accommodate all we can. However, we are scarce on food, as our hunting party has not returned. I'm afraid we may not be able to feed all of you." The man said honestly, Hayasu raising an eye. That would explain the earlier questioning. Hayasu was about to reply again when a man came sprinting from the mountain passes. "ELDER-SAMAAA!" He came screaming, practically slamming into Hayasu as he collapsed forward. Bloodied claw marks scattered all over his torso, clothing ripped and clearly had not had a good day. The man managed to steady himself as he clung to the elder's feet. "We were attacked, one of the biggest mountain lions we've ever seen. I-It was awful..so much blood..so much..death.." he claimed before his body gave in, causing him to go unconcious. He was quickly dragged away to be tended to.

The elder sighed, sitting on a bench nearby as he clearly lost himself in thought. A mountain lion big enough to take on a full hunting party? It sounded like a good time for a trade. He crouched in front of the tiny elder and spoke. "I'm sorry about your men, but I promise a trade. Either myself and Sou will take care of the lion, or Sou will assist as he can here and I will dispatch it along with food for everyone. In exchange for your kindness that is." Hayasu beamed. While he would of probably assisted the villagers anyway, the slaves had clearly dealt with enough. The old man scratched his chin and nodded. "Very well. You will have your lodgings on the condition of food and proper payment." The elder stated, to which Hayasu sighed in relief. Had he denied them, which was within his right, it would of been a colossal pain to take care of so many. Hayasu nodded over to the de-facto leader of the slaves, whom ushered the bound soldiers, supplies, and cart, working their way into the village to begin settling where they could.

He turned over to Sou and shrugged a bit. He knew they had already been through hell today, but they both needed to eat after so much exertion. "I would not blame you if you wish to stay my friend. I can take care of this if you would rather rest and look after the villagers." Hayasu said honestly. Either choice was a viable one, as the villagers/slaves both would need a guard to keep the peace and from either side being exploited.

Glancing between the mob that would clearly need supervision and the shredded body of the hunter that had come screaming into the village, Sou knew immediately which option he preferred. Low on chakra, weapons, and patience, Sou nicked a lantern from one of the guards and stepped away from the mob, starting out into the darkness of the mountain. "Coming?" He had absolutely no desire to deal with the group. Besides they could swing by a Kumo outpost while they were hunting the lion and get a message sent back to the village. Considering they no longer had an emergency chakra flare since they wasted it before they had even reached the encampment, it was the best course of action.

"You get the feeling we were being watched earlier?" Sou questioned as they began following the bloody path the hunter had left for the to follow. He tapped his kunai holster, flaring his chakra and triggered the seal that contained his spare kunai. Immediately the comforting weight of a full complement of kunai settled onto his thigh. "I doubt it was the rogue, any ninja worth their salt is better at hiding their presence than that." He scratched his head and sighed. "In any case, we probably aren't just dealing with a mountain lion out here. Let's try and keep the heroics and theatrics to a minimum, yeah?"

The trek down the mountain had given him some time to cover from the strain of the earlier battle. The rations he had eaten would be enough to keep him going for a couple more hours at the very least. The problem was exhaustion. If he had stayed in the village to guard the prisoners, he still would've been forced to stay awake. At least out here on the hunt he was constantly active, keeping him from falling asleep at his post. "Let's make this quick as well."

Hayasu grinned at his partner. He looked to the slave leader and nodded his approval. He felt between the village guards and very vengeful slaves, there wouldn't be too much issue. But before they departed, Hayasu gently slid Kureiji to one of the medics. "Please look after him in my stead. I will forever be in your debt." Hayasu bowed, to which the medic nodded and sprinted off to begin addressing his wounds. Hayasu hurried to catch up to Sou, agreeing with this words. "I concur. I think maybe it would be whatever it is we're now hunting. If it was a shinobi, I doubt we wouldn't of been ambushed. I guess we'll find out." Hayasu stated, laughing at Sou's comment.

"I make no promises. But I'll do my best. I'm pretty beat myself believe it or not. A nice hot spring and nap sounds outstanding." Hayasu commented, starting down the path with Sou. The nearest Shinobi outpost wouldn't be far. He stepped up the pace and sprinted down, Sou in tail. Before long they reached one of many watchtowers, noting this one was unmanned for the moment. Looking at a pile of scrolls, Hayasu fumbled through them before picking one up. He scribbled his report, detailing everything as fast as he could with an official request for reinforcements to meet them at the village. He activated a chakra flare, the scroll folding up and turning itself into a bird. It nodded it's paper head and dove out of the window, flapping away into the growing dusk. By flight, it would only be a couple of hours to Kumogakure from this range. Hayasu estimated if the team they sent was dispatched immediately under the proper code, they'd be here a little after dawn.

He turned back to Sou and gathered a few more supplies from the stash inside the watchtower before heading back out into the wilds. While this was his specialty, this mountain range was especially remote and out of Hayasu's usually prowling grounds. They expertly began to navigate through the woods, soon coming across the massacred hunting party. Hayasu crouched low, igniting a torch to get a better examination. Scattered footprints, running, blood, a definite struggle. There was a few massive pawprints, far larger then any normal mountain lion of this area. It appeared the survivor was correct. More claw marks and eviscerations were proof of this. "Looks like we have more then one hunt on our hands. Let's get to work." Hayasu told Sou, sprinting back into the woods to begin pursuit of the beast.

While Hayasu tracked the chaos from the ground Sou stuck the trees, hopping from branch to branch with a practiced ease and keeping an eye out for their prey. It didn't take long; the blood and claw marks were apparent on the snow and trees in a clearly defined path. It was strange, mountain lions were known to be stealthier than that, though Sou had never heard of mountain lion's growing to such exorbitant sizes either; at least not outside of a ninja village where the ambient chakra resulted in natural mutations to animal physiology. Perhaps it had made its home in some chakra rich environment? The thought occurred to him that it could possibly belong to a shinobi.

They finally came to an area that was obviously a den. A shiver ran down the Chuunin's spine as he dropped down next to Hayasu, whether from the cold or a premonition of what was to come he chose not to think about. "More than one hunt? I swear if there is more than one giant mountain lion I'm leaving you here as bait while I run the other way." Sou flipped a kunai out in one hand and held his torch out with the other, pressing forward. It was times like this he wished he had put in the effort to learn how to sense his surroundings. It would've been nice to have a warning of if he was about to be eaten alive or not.

Hayasu chuckled a bit, shaking his head. "I was referring our shinobi friend, whom I would imagine we will soon pursue." Hayasu replied, confirming they had found the beasts lair. He agreed with Sou however, if not directly; this was no ordinary mountain lion. Cautiously, he and Sou entered the cave as the light from the torch illuminated a few feet ahead. Bones and various prey lay scattered, some old, some a little too fresh.

It didn't take long however until a rather low growl echoed through the cave. Hayasu froze and waved his own torch ahead, giant yellow eyes following before the head of a colossally sized mountain lion slowly appeared from the darkness. A deep hiss sent chills down even Hayasu's spine. The beast had to be at least five times regular size, and light leather armor confirmed one thing; it was definitely someone's pet. Hayasu very slowly began to take a stance. "Sou, I know you said no heroics and thematics, but in about two seconds this thing is going to charge. I can take the hits and pain, your job is to find an opening. Don't worry about wounding me, because chances are, if it kills me it'ls going to kill you too" Hayasu said in a quiet hurry.

Indeed, only a moment later the beast sprinted at him, leaping toward Hayasu whom shoulder rushed it as best as he could. It towered over even Hayasu, his raw strength being the only thing keeping it from tearing them both apart for the moment. He roared back at it, knocking it back into the darkness before tumbling in it. The beast raked his claws into Hayasu's back, causing a yelp of pain as he wrestled it.

That wasn't good. That was definitely not good. In fact Sou would go so far as to say that was very, very bad. Animals didn't wear armour. What on earth was that hunting party thinking, going after something like this? Sou twirled his kunai between his fingers, looking for a soft point to throw them at, but found nothing but bulging muscle and leather in his line of fire. "Never thought I'd say this but I think I agree with you. Try not to die." With that Sou leapt directly up into the sky, landing on one of the branches above, and watched as the oversized mountain lion pounced on Hayasu. The crack that sounded through the area on impact was enough for Sou to question his sanity of even trying to get involved. Then he watched as claws met flesh and Hayasu yelled in pain and decided that yes, he was insane enough to get involved.

"I really hope I don't miss."

Running through a set of hand seals, Sou pooled his chakra, drawing it up from his core and along his arms until it was forming in the palms of his hands. The chakra ran through the tenketsu and onto the blades, wrapping around them like a sheath until Sou added that final spark of life to the technique. A soft whistling started coming from his kunai, a light green haze of chakra extending around and off the blades of the kunai. He coughed, the exertion of using another A-Rank technique without getting any proper rest straining his entire system. It was likely that he would pass out soon, so he needed to land this.

While Sou may not have had the strength to cut through that thick layer of muscle and armour protecting the mountain lion from a bladed assault, his wind most certainly did. He waited until it was distracted with Hayasu again as the pair grappled before he leapt from his place among the trees. It wasn't perfect, he had no bound pad, but he used the downward momentum of the fall to shift his centre of gravity and began spinning, aiming to slice the blades of wind clean through the mountain lion's neck. He just hoped Hayasu had enough forethought to get his arms out of the path of his technique. How was the man going to carry Sou's unconscious ass back to the village if he had no hands?
TechniquesShow
[Wind Release • Vacuum Blades]
A-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Sou can coat either his hands or a pair of weapons he is holding in a swirling vortex of wind chakra. This extends the weapon's range by 2 meters while not adding anything to its weight for 5 posts. This vortex cuts with 25 strength whilst still applying fuuton's passive.

[Piercing Pulsar Pirouette]
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Sou must initiate this attack while he is in mid-air, often after bouncing from one of his bound platforms. Sou will tuck his legs tight against his body and use his high amount of skill in controlling his body and gravity's influence on his position in the air to generate a high amount of torque. This allows him to spin rapidly in mid-air and strike with his weapon. The sheer speed and skill associated with this technique causes the successive strikes to occur with such a small interval between them that they appear simultaneous to any with a Taijutsu+Instinct/2 lower than Sou's own Taijutsu+Speed/2. This technique may strike a number of times equal to Sou's Speed/4 in a single post.

Hayasu had rolled, tumbled, grappled and fought the beast to the best of is inhuman like ability. The fight was not going well. He managed to dodge just in time for the beast's jaws to slam shut where he was before; a fatal blow if he had simply tried to take it on. He was about to ready another barrage of hits, blood splattered all over his clothing before he noticed Sou's chakra spike and formation to the blades. He understood. Quickly and riskily, he darted forward and tackled under the beast. With all of his physical might, he roared and positioned the beast as perfect as he could for the slash, risking decapitation by doing so.

The lion snarled and tried to swipe Hayasu under him but the screech of chakra and the splatter of blood showed otherwise. A small cuff of Hayasu's hair lay clean off. Another four-ish inches and Hayasu would be just as dead. A scary, risky maneuver, but an effective one. The cut went straight into the neck tendons and armor straps, breaking the armor off and mortally wounding the lion. Hayasu felt the entire weight of the beast collapse on him, causing himself to flail albeit comically, but luckily he was strong enough to push it just to the side as he fell. Noticing Sou wobbly from the exertion, he quickly darted over and caught him before he fell. Gently, he sat his friend down. "Masterful plan as always, you glorious bastard." Hayasu mused, shaking his head. How very like the duo at this point. Hayasu fought the opponent straight on, Sou formed the plan and finished the fight. "You're going to need a long night of rest after this, and definitely a bottle of Sake on me when we're back to Kumogakure." Hayasu replied, turning to the beast. It was a large bastard, too big to simply carry all the way back down the paths. He scratched his head and started to formulate a plan in his mind. He wouldn't have time right now to dress his own wounds, and he doubted the beast would feed the village, but it gave them a chance to get more. First things first however was migrating the beast and Sou out of here.

He began by ripping a tree straight out of it's roots, using a kunai to shape it a bit. The best he was going to do was make an extremely tacky sled to drag them back down, before resuming the hunt on behalf the villagers. It didn't take long before he had a crude drag sled, pulling the beast on and helping Sou to the best of his ability, letting him rest against the warmth of the freshly dead lion. A bit crude, but it would keep him warm and something to rest against.

Whistling blades of wind met thick flesh and Sou didn't even feel a tickle as his jutsu cut through the armour and flesh like a hot knife through butter. He completed his spin, landing heavily on the snow and spun away from the head as it rolled away from the body. Flicking his kunai, the wind around them dissipated and he slid them back into his though holster, free and clean of any blood. That technique was probably his favourite move, it was just a shame it cost him so much chakra.

"We're not going drinking together…" Sou shuddered at the very idea of it. "I've seen you sober, I can't even imagine you drunk. I don't want to imagine you drunk. I'd like to retain my sanity." The blond collapsed into the snow, ignoring the fact that he was probably sitting in blood. He just didn't have it left in him to care at the moment. He watched with tired eyes as the battered and bloodied Hayasu kept pushing onwards, fashioning a sled from trees. Not branches. Bloody trees. "Has anyone ever told you you're weird? Like, even for shinobi standards, you're weird."

Dragging himself onto the sled, he did his best to ignore the smell of fresh blood coming from the carcass of the mountain lion and stared up at the night sky. It was a surprisingly cloudless night and he could see the stars in full. "We're gonna have to track that guy down, aren't we?" He let out a slow sigh. "Just once it would be nice if a mission could go per plan, you know? Everything went to shit when this damn war started." He could feel the darkness encroaching, knew that the chakra exhaustion was setting in. He'd probably be out for half a day before he regained consciousness, maybe a week before he could start operating at full function again. "Oi Hayasu… promise me you'll wait until we can take down that bastard together."

And with that, Sou surrendered to the blissful darkness.

Hayasu listened to every word and merely smiled whilst nodding in agreement. Despite he and Sou not being entirely on the same page a lot, and differing in personalities, they got the job done. Every. Time. At Sou's final sentence, Hayasu chuckled. Before he could reply however, he noticed Sou had finally succumbed to his exhaustion and faded into a deep slumber. He earned every moment he could. "Don't worry my friend. That son of a bitch will be our prey. I wouldn't take the hunt from you. I'm going to get you somewhere safe to rest, this I swear." Hayasu promised, finishing his preparations.

The next twelve hours were a blur. Hayasu, through some divine intervention, managed to get Sou back to the village with their prize. He made sure Sou was tended to and left under guard before forcing his body onward to return to the hunt. Within another hour or two, Hayasu brought back another trough of wild fruits, roots, nuts, and a few elk on the fashioned sled for the village to feast. He recovered as best as he could though he was unable to assist Sou in earning a meal due to not wanting to accidentally cause him to choke. He prepared a few makeshift bentos for him to feast on when he awoke, before reorganizing the rest of the slaves and captures soldiers.

At dawn, the Shinobi reinforcements had arrived. A chuunin lead a team of four genin, who rallied and further organized them all for the trip back. Knowing Sou was still probably bed ridden, Hayasu had to improvise and managed to secure Sou into a fireman's carry, an awakened Kureiji helping to keep him secure. The little guy even gave Sou a back rub and helped him stretch his joints while unconcious. As soon as the Shinobi team gave the all clear, Hayasu went as fast as he possibly could with Sou on his shoulders. He leaped from cliff to cliff, sheer willpower and a few hours of sleep having been enough to make the journey. It wouldn't be the most pleasant of journey's back, but it would be a quick one. A half a day later, the Gates of Kumogakure were in site. Quickly, Hayasu headed for the hospital where he carefully lay Sou in a gurney, a team of Medical-nin rushing him inside to tend to his exhaustion. Hayasu managed a chuckle before he himself collapsed. His wounds hadn't been tended to yet except for the most basic levels of triage, and the exhausting trip brought even the mighty Hayasu to heel. The last thing Hayasu remembered before fading into his slumber was Sou's words ringing in his head; " Promise me you'll wait until we can take down that bastard together....Promise...". Hayasu smirked. As soon as we're recovered and get a lead, the hunt is on my friend..the hunt is on...
