Can't Fish Without Bait [Mission]

Post by Texas » Tue Jul 05, 2022 11:35 am

A slow start to Aki's morning due to some late night shenanigan's caused the boy to be rather groggy. He wiped the crusts from his eyes only to see the sun very much out and about. This meant that he was already late for his first mission as a shinobi. With haste, Aki got up from his bed and threw together his clothes. For young delinquent, it didn't take long to get dressed, but it did take a moment to fully remember what he had to do. This was something he would just have to remember during his run to the meeting spot. The first thing he knew absolutely was to meet at the front gate of the village.

The genin burst through the front door and began to spring throughout the village. His hood would bob up and down as his pink hair took the draft coming from the wind. While the child was sprinting to the location he started to actually collect his thoughts and not be in a full state of what was a mental block. The mission was a low ranking mission. Since there was nearly not exposure to harm, it was given to these two shinobi: one a medic who has already created a name for herself, and the other a Genma Host who really didn't know what he wanted to do.

The mission was rather simple. Aki would help escort Chiaki to a small fishing village south of the lightning country where a lot of the agriculture was. In the village there were several injured fishermen that were integral parts of their fishing trade. Without these 4-5 fishermen to run things, the trade as a whole would be heavily backlogged and could cause problems in the very near future.

By the time Akihiko made it to the front gate, he was completely out of breath. He ran as fast as he could and almost whited out in the process. This caused him to place both hands on his knees and breath heavy to regain his oxygen and stamina. For a moment he had almost forgot he was late... Was Chiaki late as well? Or was there irritation from waiting? Aki, could only focus on his breathing before he looked up.

Can't Fish Without Bait [Mission]

Chiaki had woken up before the dawn and had meticulously dressed, arranged her shinobi items, arranged her medical items, arranged her hair into an elaborate twin-braided bun and then had meticulously decided to lock herself out of the apartment and broke back in to grab the key to her lodgings and her things. What a silly girl she was. By the time that she made it to the gate, it was nearly dawn, so she was right on time, but rather flustered that she hadn't been able to be there early enough for the early birds that were probably going to escort her.

She was wearing her normal gi, her shinobi tools were in her backpack, and she felt rather lazy this morning since she thought that the mission was rather a formality. The reason that she needed an escort was unknown to her, perhaps the Raikage had gotten wind of her being trained by Maido, even though Maido had been meticulous about making sure that she wasn't caught. She actually wondered where Maido was now. Musing for a while, she waited.

And waited.

And then grew bored. She decided that she would go up into a tree and lounge there, going over a rather risque book that she had purchased from the local book shop. She was rather unbothered by the whole prospect of plying her trade in the village, and it seemed like the wounds were rather unbothersome if they weren't dead, and weren't in critical condition, but the whole of the lightning country relied on the whole village to gather together and make sure that things ran smoothly. She also enjoyed sushi, and the people who caught that sushi were an integral part to her splurging fridays, where she spent way too much of the week's paycheck on sake and sushi.

She heard some slapping footfalls coming towards her and she looked, a lazy look through the branches over her left shoulder at the youth approaching. He had pink hair, well that was... stylish? She was rather bemused by his disheveled and breathless advance. She jumped down out of the tree and landed softly behind the youth, who was breathing rather heavily though they had many miles left to trek.

"Out of breath already mmm?" She questioned, placing a hand on her waist and leaning on the opposite leg with a rather amused twinkle in her eyes, the one hat was covered by a band of blazing red hair, hiding her scar, and the other that was not covered at all. Both of them appeared golden and honey-sweet.

Both hands held over his knees as the young delinquent sucked in a couple of deep breathes, followed by some even quicker exhales. Before he could really check his surroundings, he saw from the corner of his eyes a figure fall from a tree. This caused Aki to jump up suddenly. With a few steps back and a slightly shocked expression upon his face, he gazed at the girl in front of him. Akihiko was a little embarrassed of being late, he truly wanted to be early... but his own carelessness got in the way. So far, probably not the greatest first impression.

Aki quickly shook off the look of shock that was painted across his face and tried to act cool. He leaned his body slightly to the right with his right arm angled against his hip. The child wanted to be taken more seriously, but didn't know the best way to do it. So he decided to make himself sound tougher, a truly adolescents way of acting more "adult". "Oh hello there, I was just practicing my heavy breathing technique for when we actually get there. I am more than okay." He followed up with squinting his eyes and smiling, a feeble attempt to hide the fact that he rushed over here. It wasn't every day he could go on missions or even really leave the village without a chaperone. So this was a very exciting moment for him. A light bulb lit up and Aki realized the person in front of him was his partner for this mission. He decided to introduce himself properly. With another adjustment of his body, this time stiffening his back and standing straight up. Aki slightly tilted his head down as a sign of respect. "Hello, my name is Akihiko, you can call me Aki. It is nice to meet you, I look forward to working with you. I do officially apologize for being late. I can't say it won't happen again because that is not a promise I can keep, but I can promise I will try to not let it happen again." With the introduction out of the way, he lifted his head. To Akihiko, he nailed it, however the awkwardness was thick enough to make a room stuffy.

Although awkward as it was, Akihiko just learned how to properly introduce himself. Some of his joking tomfoolery had gotten him in enough trouble, so with his first introduction, he wanted to appear official and act like the shinobi he wanted to be. However, a voice in the boy's head didn't fully approve of this. 'Next time you should be the one early and surprise her. Now we will have to think of a way to get her back on the way there'. The Genma in Aki's body announced. After the introductions, Akihiko would turn towards the gate that was cracked open and announce "Shall we get going?"

Can't Fish Without Bait [Mission]

"Aki-kun huh?" She let a lazy smile play over her face as she nodded and assessed the small genin, "And you're to be my bodyguard hmm?" She nodded as she completed her assessment, "Do you have any special abilities?" She asked as she lazily started to lead the way to their destination, stopping a few meters ahead to take out some scissors and lazily clip at some of the medicinal flowers, verbena, and stow them in a pouch that smelled of many mixed herbs in her backpack. She carefully tied them with a purple ribbon, and if Aki were astute enough to notice, each herb was bound with a different colour of ribbon, but the ribbons were different hues of the same color for medicinal herbs, versus cooking herbs, versus antiseptic herbs.

"So have you ever been to this village before?" She asked, still looking at all of the herbs and rearranged them via the ribbon color so that they were again in coherent bundles rather than just tossed around in her backpack, "I know that the Raikage wanted me to have an escort, and I think I know why." She had a perchant for running off, after all, and making connections with the wrong sort of people. She supposed that if there was anyone else to do this mission, that the Raikage would have happily let them do it rather than her.

Akihiko followed suit, trying to stay at the very least 3 steps away from her. Any time she would pick flowers or slow down, the boy made sure to try to survey the area with his eyes. "Abilities?" he muttered out loud... Unfortunately, he couldn't say or use his Genma abilities in public. Well, he could... but after talking with the other Genma Hosts in Tea Country, Akihiko wanted to make sure he had a mastery over it and was strong enough on his own before he truly started showing his abilities. However, lineage wise, Akihiko did have an ability that he favored quite a bit. "Well, I am still learning, but I can nullify chakra." The child turned to look at her and reworded the question to her. "How about you?"

The young delinquent stopped moving and looked as Chiaki collected herbs. He didn't think much into the way she was collecting it, in fact he fully didn't notice the way she was doing it. More-so the fact she was doing it in general on their way. When she got up and lead the way, he followed right next to her. Akihiko's role was in fact to be a body guard. So for this mission he took it extra seriously. The combination of being his first mission and him having a role that required to show his strength was something that truly tugged at his ego. The chance to actually be a grown up, as ridiculous as that sounds, is something that Akihiko wanted to prove.

As they continued forward Akihiko didn't know the best way to answer her question. 'You should tell her that like me, the village keeps you caged like a rabid dog. Maybe that will give her an expression of surprise! HAHA' Ryeunso couldn't help but fuel Aki's need to cause a little bit of chaos. Maybe that was one of the reasons they got paired in the first place. With an awkward shake of his head, he threw on a somewhat fake smile and spoke up to the question. "Well this village I havent, but I have heard about it. They don't just fish there, but apparently they can make a great few fish dishes. Hopefully they will be selling some!" This excitement as he spoke was channeled into his demeanor, causing him to walk a little bit more confidently. Food was a great motivator. "Have you been here before?" It was a simple reply, but after she spoke he would continue to ask questions since the verbal flood gates have already started. "Do you have a favorite food? Have you traveled a lot?"

Can't Fish Without Bait [Mission]

"Hmm? I can do some things with Megallium, a type of metal that is used most often in surgeries, or reparation medical procedures." She smiled, continued down the path, readjusting herself and patting down the front of her Gi, "I also have the ability to make Silicone, which is rather fun because it helps dampen blows, I have Raiton, Jikiton, and a bit of Fuuinjutsu. I just recently became accustomed to crafting things, which is quite fun, and I am trying to learn Tenkujutsu because I was told by Shinjiro to protect the Genma of Kumogakure no Sato while I was with Maido in Kintsugi."

She smiled at the smaller shinobi and put her hands behind her back, walking around with a carefree feel to her, "I am trying to learn sensory, especially minds-eye, which is what Maido used most often in order to identify targets, but I want to use it for chakra-healing techniques, and I am still trying to find my own brand to bring to the world." She nodded twice, looking out at the horizon, and sighed, "I want to have the villages treat everyone, including Jinchuuriki, like people, rather than assets, tools, or powerful objects to play chess with."

She looked to Akihiko and noticed the shake of his head, "I haven't either." She thought that the shake of the head was for something more than just the question she had asked, "Fish dishes are quite delicious. I am trying to make my brand of food based Iijutsu to help people recover. Not much use in combat, as they are cumbersome, and need to be consumed. Who has time for that in the heat of battle?" she gave a rather warm grin to the small boy.

The question was a good one, but gave Chiaki pause, "My favorite food, you know, I don't know if I have ever been asked that." She took a long time to consider before speaking again, "Probably red bean-buns with peanut sauce. But fresh Unagi Sushi has to be a close second in my opinion." She grinned towards the horizon, keeping a lazy, but watchful eye on the surrounding area. She didn't think that this mission would be too difficult for the walk there nor back, but perhaps that they would find it rather harder in the village itself. That or, as punishment, the Raikage had given them a task that was 'too easy' for Chiaki to show her how much respect she had lost for the hospital event.

"You know, I do appreciate your guarding me on the way to the village." She continued, readjusting her pack, "especially given the hospital incident." She wanted to open up a bit about herself, but she had already given three big hints to the young shinobi about her background, and why she was so interested in going on a mission with him. Shinjiro had told her to seek out the Jinchuurikis, and she wondered if he would confirm he was one, she had a hand in the first attack on the village in a very long time, and she also enjoyed seafood.

Can't Fish Without Bait [Mission]

Post by Texas » Thu Aug 11, 2022 9:23 pm

A child born of a clan with the ability to nullify chakra, a technique he intended of learning more about. However, although his history was light, as a whole he had been given different boxes to reside in. First it was his familial home to practice and learn his clan jutsu. The next box was Kumo itself. He had an ability within himself that until he was capable of defending himself, was heavily guided to not use it in public. These boxes the child had been put in created the need to be noticed. Between physical differences to stand out or obnoxious behavior to be noticed. However, in this moment of walking to the village with Chiaki, he didn't feel trapped. Aki didn't feel like he was in a box, in fact, he felt more free than he had ever been in his young life.

For that he was grateful for this mission. While they were walking Aki focused on two things. The area around him and the words that were coming out of Chiaki's mouth. The pink haired shinobi caught a few words and those words rang through his head. Did she know about him? During their conversation, Aki made it a point to be uncharacteristically calm. In fact, he was greatly respectful. Listening and nodded his head as she spoke was something he wouldn't normally do. Or at least, it would be something he would show.

The boy looked at her as they were nearing the village. He looked at her with a minor smirk. "You seem to know a lot about the village" Aki as a whole didn't want to acknowledge her hints outwardly. The delinquent chose his words carefully to give her hints back. Hopefully she followed along just like him. If there was any sign of danger or someone that could hide from that danger, it wouldn't be a good idea to openly talk about what resided within his body. With the village getting closer, Aki's look changed as he looked forward. His face was rather serious, an empathetically concerned look. "What happened at the Hospital?" he muttered.
