Kumo's mastery of the sky, even with their treaty, meant that the train was the most convenient and politically correct route to take into Lightning Country. The ride was bumpier than Suzuko was used to on the airships, but it did make her significantly less motion sick as it rocked and swayed in fairly expected patterns, allowing her to train her chakra control by slowly moving it throughout her body, and watching the mountains and forests pass by was pretty in its own right, a totally different perspective for the girl than the slow walking roads or high flying ships she was used to.

As the train wove its way through a dense patch of mountains, it passed through a tunnel, and Suzuko closed her eyes to focus for a moment longer, pulling her chakra from all of her extremities towards her core, her stomach which shook and quivered with each little rock and ripple of motion. It didn't make her feel better, but it at least made her think it may have made her feel better. Maybe she should learn healing arts, after all.

She was on her way to Lightning country for the first part of their international exchange program, a program designed to exchange students internationally to better improve relationships with other countries ever since the passing of the Grand Shogun all those years ago. Stepping off the train at one of the academy grounds that Lightning country had been popping up at a prodigious rate rivaled only by the Heart Empire itself, she took a deep sniff of the air, looked around, and... shrugged, releasing the chakra that she had been storing in her core to weave its way back into her extremities. It really wasn't all that different from what she was used to, this one being out in the country a ways from any major city centers. Goro stepped off the train behind her and her face turned into a frown as he patted her on the shoulder. She shook her body away from him, physically working the chakra back through as she did a couple of stretches, not totally comfortable to have sat still for that long.

"No slacking while we're here." He said with a tone of sarcasm to his voice as he popped a cigarette into his mouth, striking a flint lighter to get it going, his addiction having been hell for him on the train where smoking had been prohibited. Suzuko turned and made a face at him, before rolling her eyes. He laughed. "Itinerary says you're just supposed to train with the kids for the first couple of days before we do anything special." Suzuko scoffed and started to walk towards the school building, or more accurately, the yard out back where several training dummies were set up in a classical fashion. "Back here in three hours so you don't get lost." He said to her back. "I'm not gonna get lost." She said, having gotten lost many times in the past.

The pink haired child was starting to be introduced to not only other members within Kumo, but shinobi within and samurai within other parts of the world. In the recent past, he had expressed his interest in protecting Kumo from within. In order to do that, Aki needed to gain some more life experience. What better life experience than be the tour guide for a member of the Heart Empire!

Aki wasn't told much, he was told that there would a girl close to his age chaperoned by around a 6' tall man with dark circular glasses. With those slightly vague description, Akihiko was sitting on a bench waiting. He used that time to clench his muscles and do a mini-workout throughout his body. If he was always training, then he could keep inching forward to becoming a chuunin and getting even closer to his goal!

By tensing up his shoulders and biceps at the same time, he could use his legs to stand up. However, by doing so he was holding his arms out in an awkward manner. They were slightly further out from his body. This complete ridiculous look made him look like someone who was trying to make themselves wider. While he stood up, he inhaled deeply. With this inhale, his chest puffed out more. While in this wildly awkward look, what was a covert body training turned into a boy looking absolutely ridiculous. Akihiko looked down for only a moment where a puddle was and caught how crazy he looked. The child quickly exhaled and released his body from what he was doing.

He put his hand over his face in frustration and clenched his teeth. Before he knew it, there was a ding from the train. Aki then saw the duo that were talking and threw his hood over his head. He took time to prepare for this. He even brought his own newspaper.

From a far distance, he followed the duo reading the newspaper. This poor act of acting casual would probably be sniffed out pretty quickly. It was highly possible Goro knew what was going on but let it slide due to the child's overall aura. If his chakra was sensed there would be a calming and genuine aura.

Aki made efforts to hide between buildings and crowds. When Goro told Suzuko not to get lost, Aki waited an extra minute for the man to leave. When he did, Akihiko put his hood down. She was pretty! Akihiko didn't get to talk to people his age since he was rather young himself as a Genin. The young delinquent tried to act swuave and put his hands over his forehead. He then moved his hands backwards in an attempt to slick his hair back. However, due to not having any kind of product or water the hair actually turned into a bed head type look... a mess.

He walked up several feet behind Suzuko and tried to deepen his voice a little bit to continue this cool look. However he would look and sound like a walking nightmare. "Well hello there!" Regardless of her reaction he would continue: "My name is Akihiko, I was sent to be your guide for the day. How are you doing on this fine afternoon? I noticed you made it to the training grounds. How has your visit been so far?" To Akihiko's mind he nailed it... however her reaction would give either the confirmation or criticism he needed... desperately.

Of course Goro would notice the boy almost immediately, but he also didn't really care. He wasn't some amazing chakra sensor that could tell if the boy was a threat or not, but was just a boy, and while children, especially among ninja, could be very dangerous... Well, he wasn't here to baby Suzuko. His job was as a chaperone, which was to make sure Suzuko kept herself out of trouble, keywords being 'kept herself'. He had some kind of attachment to her that went unstated, but he'd told her time and time again that his job was to make sure she got strong, and he couldn't do that by doing everything for her. He slapped her on the shoulder gently and let her on her way, puffing on his cigarette as he calmly watched the interaction from afar.

Suzuko meanwhile, while a studious samurai in her own right, was not as experienced or shrewd as her mentor. He was always telling her she needed to be paying more attention, which was ridiculous because she paid a lot of attention all the time. So much attention, in fact, that she definitely, totally noticed the pink haired boy approaching before he said something. It definitely didn't take her by surprise, and she definitely didn't jump a little when he spoke up. She also definitely didn't take a second before turning around to catch her breath and mentally scold herself for not noticing him sooner. Definitely not.

Slowly, she turned around, her best smile of nobility on her face. It took all of her willpower, however, to not blanch upon seeing the man before her. She almost wanted to sneer and walk away to ignore him, but as he introduced himself, she painfully said "Oh, that's... Greeeeat!" Doing her best to hide the sarcasm in her tone, she moved her arm forward for a handshake, the formal greeting that had started to become more popular in the Heart Empire, but quickly righted herself, turning into a slight bow instead.

"You can call me Fukuzawa." She said somewhat coldly, not offering her first name, but maintaining the absolute politeness that had been drilled into her. She didn't know how these Lightning Empire folks did things, for all she knew, he could well be of nobility himself... Suzuko's eyes wandered to his hair and her eye twitched a bit. Probably not nobility. There was a casual confidence about him that spoke that he was either used to getting his way, or was just stupid enough to not care about what was likely constant rejection.

"The Lightning Empire has been quite different from Xincha, so far. I'm sure it will be pleasant." She said, making polite conversation, taking a step with one foot to indicate she was getting ready to walk. "The training grounds are this way, yes? I'm sure the teachers will be expecting us to be working on personal projects until we're given direction." This was a bit easier to maintain her cool on, as this was a common type of thing she felt she had to tell her own classmates to redirect them, so they wouldn't ALL get in trouble if they were caught doing nothing. "Was there anything on the class schedule, today?"

Aki's head tilted slightly when she lifted her hand and then shifted his head to her a little bit confused. However in the back of his mind, he was excited. Someone who was as awkward as he was?! He didn't think that he would ever find someone like that! Aki mirrored her exact movement. Once she slightly bowed, he put his hand out slightly for a hand shake and swiftly lowered his head in respect. "Interesting customs, I don't know why the arm out before bowing is necessary but its fun!" After the slight bow he folded his left arm and used that hand to hold up his right elbow. With his right arm up, he rested it below his chin to show that he was watching intently and listening to what she said. Some would call it genuine interest...

The child nodded in agreement and repeated some of the words she said. Although the boy was trying to act like an adult and look attentive, he could be seen as acting condescending. It depended on how Suzuko perceived the pink haired delinquent. "mhm mhm, pleasant" he complied as he followed her lead and took a step to follow her. He ended up being on her right side, but one step behind her. With his arms still set up for Akihiko to try to look sophisticated, he followed up with her questions. "Yes, well you are right we are right at the training grounds ma'am. But unfortunately there will be no teachers." Akihiko's mind had a spark of a great idea. Unfortunately, it would result in a lie. He was told to help and train with the girl coming from the heart empire. However, Akihiko wanted to show her the great village of Kumogakure no Sato. He also wanted to have a little fun, which was rare with someone close to his age. When the lightning bolt of an idea came to his mind, Aki had a slight smirk and walked closer to Suzuko. He would unfold his arms and slightly pat her on the back. In the back of his mind Akihiko thought 'tag you're it'. The young boy walked forward in attempt to get ahead of her.

When he did he would turn around and based on being in between the training grounds and her, he had hoped that he would stop her from walking. "Well you see, I was told that we wouldn't be training." As he continued, Aki would attempt to take small steps backwards with hopes that she would stand still. "I was charged with showing you around the village! You should get a chance to see the village in all of the fun spots while you're here. You can train any time. Hey I have an idea, wait right there." Akihiko would continue to walk backwards until they were 20ish feet away from each other. "I also forgot to mention.... you're it... and whoever is it by the time the sun descends (which would be around an hour) has to buy sweets!"

The young genin giggled and turned around. He used that moment to plant his left leg and push forward starting to run away. He began to run towards the shopping district in the middle of town. If she was to chase him, she would start to see some of the fun and great spots that the shopping district has to offer!

The smile on her face remained, but a bit of anger boiled up inside as the rest of her face made her look... Maybe constipated? It wasn't a pretty look, and certainly betrayed the noble nature she was doing her best to portray as she did this simpleton a favor by even being in his presence, let alone talking to him. It started when he mimocked her gesture, of course she didn't want to shake hands with him, he looked greasy at best, touching him probably would have felt disgusting, she hadn't even really wanted to bow to him... And then he dared to treat her like an invalid, parroting her own words back at her as if to make sure she'd meant what she said... She was about to give him a piece of her mind!

And then he touched her on the back, her chest pushed out and she arched her back as if trying to get away from his touch after the contact had already been made. Suzuko's whole body shuddered, especially after he called her... ma'am. It felt extra disrespectful, and for some reason she felt like she wanted to vomit just being around the boy. She hoped they weren't stuck together for her entire time in the Lightning Empire. Even as he spoke, she looked back to where Goro once was. As much as she had a distaste for him, she almost wished she'd stayed with him rather than walking off on her own.

She definitely wouldn't continue walking with him as he walked away, and her face would be red with a mix of embarrassment and anger, and she would look awfully sweaty as well, a vein popping out on her forehead. Blood rushed to her ears and she didn't even really hear his asinine claims about the childish game of tag he wanted to play, and instead as he took off running, she brought one hand to her forearm and rolled the sleeve up, repeating the action with the other, before running off after him.

Such things were not socially acceptable in the Heart Empire as a whole, but her 'foster' parents in House Mizutane used to talk about how it used to not only be acceptable, but morally just to righteously dash fools who didn't know their place, and her rage addled brain told her that was the right thing to do in this very moment! Her nostrils flared, another not-very-pretty look for the young girl as she pumped her arms while running in a very strict runners stance like she'd been practicing under ridiculously strict guidelines... Because she had. "Get back here you little twerp!" She called out to him, doing her best to control her breathing like she'd been taught, but the anger burning in the back of her throat made it awfully difficult to control anything at all, especially her temper.

She was faster than him, it seemed, but he had a hell of a head-start, and she wasn't thinking straight enough to take full advantage of any strengths she might have had over him, at least, not yet.

Akihiko couldn't help himself. He ran as fast as he could, but continued to laugh hysterically. He pumped his arms and kicked his legs. He made sure that his right arm would go up as his left leg would lift up. Going in opposite unison, allowed Akihiko to get the max speed that he could possibly do. However, the child looked back only once to realize that he was a tiny bit slower. If this chase was to go on, it would behoove him to start making some alternate cuts instead of a straight shot. If it was a straight shot, she would catch him. Lucky for Akihiko, they were about to enter his favorite district to mess around in, The Trade District.

Due to Akihiko spending his free time pranking the citizens of Kumo, he has traveled and memorized almost the entirety of the village. His sense of adventure and constant seek to get a rise out of people has resulted in a wealth of knowledge of the village and its best routes/hiding spots. It only took a few minutes since they were near the Trading District. Akihiko jumped down the ledge and landed in the main circle of the shopping section. He weaved through a few people and crowds. He used the chaos caused to duck and roll under a couple of trading booths. In hopes that he lost her, Akihiko would climb up one of the buildings and sit on the ledge. Even if he lost her for a second, he would have hopefully had the upper hand enough to evade her to get to the point.

He sat on the ledge and stared down at the area they were in. Whether she was below him due to losing him, or on the ledge with him because she was able to keep an eye on him, he would talk over her so that she could just listen. She might notice a different look in his eyes and a different tone in his voice. Although he was goofy and disheveled and annoying, his heart and soul was with the village of Kumo. This tone could be heard, seen and felt, with his next coming words. "Suzuko over here!" He would wave her down so she could either come to the ledge or get a little closer to him so he could speak. "This place here is the life blood for the average citizen of Kumo. We are in the Trade District, not the most beautiful place but the biggest location with the most people at once. Here people come from not only all over the village but from all over the world. You can try different cuisines, meet different people of all types, and learn the most about what is happening in the world here. You can see that this place is between two mountains and this area is one large courtyard of different levels. You can quite literally buy anything here between armor, weapons, there are tanneries, jewelers, and just all types of craftsmen. Once in a while I like to get to the top here and just people watch. There is so much that happens here without others really knowing." Akihiko smiled and had a sense of pride as he continued. "Lets go to Akino Peak next!"

The trade district of Kumogakure no Sato is a tier of both mountains connected by a stone courtyard. While it sounds and appears to be a marketplace, it is also the hub of all of the tradesmen. Forges, tanneries, jewelers and other assorted craftsmen work on this tier, and teach their apprentices, while selling their wares.

Suzuko had done A LOT of running ever since she'd officially joined Doushikai academy. Her body had been rather frail before she'd joined, having been raised as more of a prim and proper noble. As most nobility did, she learned a martial art, and her foster mother had been gracious enough to pay for someone to teach her the style of her home country, one of the only remembrances she'd have of her mother, aside from stories that her foster mother and father could tell her of when they'd met and become such good friends to have been entrusted with her. The thought of it made her feel a little sick to her stomach. She liked her foster parents, but she wasn't their child, and while they did her best, their constant pressures didn't feel very paternal.

These thoughts distracted Suzuko as she rushed through and past the training ground and out into the town proper. She dodged her way around on the streets, and were this her home town she would have stopped to apologize to everyone individually, but she didn't know these people, they weren't hers, and while she knew she was supposed to be making a good impression... Well, she put her head down and figured nobody would probably recognize her. She wasn't exactly a public figure, after all.

She also realized, as she knocked over some poor cabbage vendor's stall, and stopped only long enough to pass several ryo to him before taking off again, that she felt... Kind of good. The rage was something lots of pent up emotions she'd been holding together for who knows how long, and to be able to get it out both emotionally AND physically thanks to the run was bound to make her feel significantly better in the long run. So much so, in fact, that when she'd lost track of the boy she was chasing, and stopped to catch her breath... She found herself smiling despite herself, breathing heavily and wiping some of that excess sweat from her face into the crook of her shoulder.

The grin on her face didn't even part as the boy she'd been chasing called out to her, prompting her to look around, and then up to see where the boy had run off to. The way he spoke about his village was something... comforting, like it was the kind of thing that had been imprinted in her very DNA. Her face was still red as a tomato, but less from the anger, and more from the workout she'd given herself, and maybe a bit from the pain and cramps in her sore legs.

"I'm pretty sure I know how a market works!" She called up to him, but in truth she didn't get out to see much of Xincha. She'd spent time in the markets before, but such things were usually handled away from her eyes, and the food placed in front of her just showed up, rather than her following it from point of origin to point of contact. She looked around to see a stack of crates atop a stationary cart, running up to it and clambering over the boxes to get on the same level as her opponent. "You better run faster than that, this time!"

He smirked at the fact her face was red. The child had hoped that she would at least appreciate the trading district. The view was glorious. Aki realized that after his appreciation it was apparent that he really hadn't left the village that much for pleasure... This should change in the time coming. After the full appreciation, the princess acting girl challenged him to keep moving. With that in mind, Aki knew exactly where he could bring her next. The biggest tourist attraction within Kumo. At least the biggest one that was open up to visitors and the general population of Kumogakure no sato.

The pink haired boy giggled and shifted his body backwards. He slid down a pipe and swung his body between two buildings that were just small enough for Aki to get through. When he flung his body and made it to the other side, Akihiko landed on his feet and bent his knees to brace his body. The second he landed, the child did a little roll. Using that momentum, the pre teen sprinted forward. Like he did before, he ran in between groups of people walking, stalls, and maneuvered aggressively. This caused a little bit of a stir or better yet, a distraction. Akihiko knew that he was not as fast as the similar aged girl, but it didn't stop him from trying to create obstacles that would keep her back.

The child broke through to the end of the trade district. In between their destination were a bunch of houses and a large area. This area was considered the Heart of Kumogakure no sato. As he ran through the outskirts, Akihiko spoke up assuming she was somewhat close. "This is the Heart of the Village, but we don't need to worry about a boring place like that" he followed up with a laugh. With this running though, Aki needed to catch his breath. At this point since there weren't too many obstacles. It was safe to say that Suzuko would be very close to him.

The Heart of Kumo was an engineering monstrosity. It was somewhat recently, although not within Aki's time, that this place was destroyed due to an attack of spirits. The child had only heard stories, but not nearly enough info to relay it to his fellow peer. The child ran out of breath and was breathing heavy by the time they made it to the bottom of the East Mountain. He clenched his knees and bent down as he was gasping for air. At this point Suzuko would have been either next to him or right behind him. With the pause, the child lifted up his back to straighten it. As he caught his breath he informed Suzuko of where they were. "Wow you are so fast, hopefully one day i'll catch up to you." He would turn and use his little right hand to point at the mountain before them. "This is the Eastern Mountain. We are going to go up this to Akino point. I'll tell you more about it at the top..... Should we race to the top??" He excitedly ended.

Suzuko rolled her eyes, the pretense of keeping propriety long since passed in this sudden semi antagonistic relationship they found themselves in. She took a moment to catch her breath, looking around at the place around them with a sense of awe and wonder. She'd worked with her sponsor for the pilot program a few times on maintaining her puppet but she'd never really been to many of the workshops that dotted the Heart Empire. Industry looked different here, with people more focused on writing seals than turning wrenches, but it could look very familiar all the same. In her heart of hearts she felt a connection to the people here that she'd never met, thanks in part to her empathetic chakra starting to leech off on Akihiko.

Even without her empathetic chakra, his energy was somewhat infectious and it became hard not to match some of what he was putting out, and that big grin didn't leave her face even as she stretched up to open her airways as far as they would go. She was fairly enduring as far as things went, but a good bit of cardio wore her out all the same, she was still just a student, after all. Turning to face him again, she spoke "I'm done playing your dumb children's game." Suzuko scoffed... Before suddenly reaching out and smacking him on the shoulder, turning on her heel and running off in the direction that he'd pointed in for Akino point. "You're playing my game, now!"

Leaping from the ledge to get back on a more accessible trail, she tucked and rolled to maintain her momentum. Both her spear style and the style of the Mizutane that she'd observed several times focused on smooth fluid movements, and tumbling was one of the first warm-ups that was done in just about every training session. Her body was like a wheel as she relatively gracefully flew from the air, to the ground, and back onto her feet all at once. The girl turned around to make a rude face at the boy, before taking off at a full sprint. His knowledge of the area was going to be his biggest boon, whereas Suzuko needed to stick to more main paths and keep the mountain peak in sight around many of the taller buildings in order to maintain her bearings.

Her arms went back to pumping up and down in a full sprint, her boots slapping the paved pathway loudly as she counted her blessings that this was not the busiest time of the day, the few people on the streets mostly moving out of her way on their own as they rushed to make their deliveries or head off to the next jobsite. Suzuko's excitement was matched by her pace, especially as she started to get on the incline, that got steeper, and steeper, and steeper... She underestimated how tall a mountain could be, especially from a distance it looked so climbable, but now that she was standing before it? Well, it looked like an impossible task.

Akihiko was tired but proud. The young genin had accomplished the run and now all what was left was going up the mountain. However, what he didn't expect was a tap back. The second she tapped the boy he figured that the pink haired delinquent had finally gotten to her. Instead, she teased him and made it clear he was following her game now.... Wait... Was the tap a tag? Childish??? She was the same age as him? If anything she was younger!

The Genma Host, Akihiko, watched for only a couple of seconds as she started up the mountain trail. It would be a difficult climb and Aki still hadn't fully caught his breath. But alas! He couldn't let her get too far ahead of him. With that in mind, Akihiko started behind her. He was several feet away, she clearly got a head start. "Hey wait up!" he yelled with his right arm in the air. However, based on their previous interactions, she was going to bulldose her way to the top and beat Akihiko! The child couldn't let this happen, so he grinded his teeth and pumped his legs. The child looked like a mechanical machine the way he was pumping his arms and pushing up with his legs. While he was climbing and attempting to catch up, although futile, Ryeunso began to speak with the boy.

"Child. You are being beat by an 11 year old. What was the point of merging if you can't outrun another child. Since it is already too late and the disappointment will settle, next time you should have just thought on your feet and figured out a way to slow her down or settle the score when you catch up." The genma laughed in Akihiko's head "if you even can."

Akihiko spoke within this plain and simply spoke to the Genma "Oh shut up, I already have her in my sights for next time. I want to gain a little trust before I start embarrassing people."

The Genin grunted as he was trying to climb up fast. However, he stepped on a rock that was slightly too round and he fell back quite a bit of ways. The child rolled and tucked his body to not fully get hurt. Unfortunately, he was well versed in the art of falling. This made him almost a pro at this point when it came to catching himself or even falling properly in order not to hurt himself. Once the rolling had stopped, the young delinquent got up quickly and shot himself in the air. When he landed, the child stretched a bit. At this point, he would probably be a little bit behind Suzuko, but if he truly dedicated his running, he could catch up a little bit!

Akihiko shook his head and pressed on, it was a lot of work, and took a long time before he got to the top. The view was incredible. Even better than when they were in the market. After a few seconds of catching his breath he wanted to finish the tour by telling her where they were and what exactly was going on. "Phew Suzuko, you are a fast runner. I give up, you win the game... I don't think you were playing but in my head you win." He brushed his pink hair with his left hand and flopped in the air trying to act cool, but with the sweat and lack of breathe he would truly look like a Neanderthal. The child got closer to the ledge to get the full view before he gave his full description of Akino Peak. "So we are at the summit of the Eastern Mountain. It is called Akino Peak. The peak itself is named after our fearless and innovative 8th Raikage Akino. He was a badass from what I have heard." He placed his left arm to the back of his head and bent his elbow before continuing.

"We are at one of the highest points available to the public. Akino Point is considered one of the greatest views in the village. If you want you can even visit the new campus here. There is a library that is truly breathtaking. However, I wouldn't try anything funny because the police force is located up here. Not to brag, but that is a department I am considering to join. If you see me on the famous posters of legendary lawmen, you will have had the pleasure of meeting him at such a young age!" he teased as he started to fold his arms with a slight pause in his speaking before he continued again. "There are a couple places that are really open to the public like the pagoda and the towers. However, the police station is off limits if you wanted to go past the regular foyer where the reception is."

Akihiko turned and kicked a rock off the peak with his left foot. The rock would fly in the air and fall fast to the point where you couldn't see it anymore. He then turned a little bit more and looked at Suzuko. With a genuine smile he spoke to her. "Well I hope you at least got to enjoy some of the sights!" He would turn around and slowly walked to the spot where they came from. Akihiko would giggle a bit, the pink hair would fluff up and down in sync with his snickering laughter. "Oh yeah Suzuko, we should probably get back. The teacher who was suppose to oversee our training is probably going to get mad." The child would laugh as he started to descend from the mountain. His laughter would probably be haunting to someone who took things seriously. AT the end of the day, Akihiko did have a reputation for being quite the pain in the ass. This unfortunately, was always his intention. Without looking at the layers of the onion, Akihiko thrived on negative attention. Each training session was just one step closer of being a bigger pain in the ass.

One foot in front of the other was how Suzuko had participated in many races and odd trainings that had been pushed on her throughout the years, and as she reached one part of the mountain that necessitated a little bit of climbing, she realized that one foot in front of the other really didn't help much, or even exist. She looked up at the nearly sheer wall in front of her and blinked, looking back over her shoulder to see Akihiko starting to catch up, before she reached out and put a hand on the wall, awkwardly trying to figure out how to even get started, one foot finding a loose foothold.

Suzuko hadn't grown up climbing trees like other children. Her memory of her youngest parts of her childhood were hazy at best, but from her earliest time she'd been carried on a stranger's back to her new country of residence, then in a strangers arms to a different part of the same country, and then she'd spent life mostly in schooling learning from the Mizutane family. All this to say, her somewhat fragile body wasn't used to this, even the combat training wielding her polearm hadn't been nearly so intense, and her one foot in front of the other strategy was dashed to the rocks, gone for the entire duration of this climb.

Of course, she was light, which at least made lifting up her own body weight considerably easier than if she'd lived such a soft lifestyle that she'd ended up chubby, but still her arms started to burn after just the first couple of times she'd pulled herself up. Realizing that her arms didn't need to be doing the bulk of the work, she worked on finding better foot holds, which was more difficult in her heavy-duty boots, as half the time when she stepped on something that felt relatively solid, it crumbled away and left her scrambling to find another one.

Finally she'd struggle to pull herself over the ledge, looking down and realizing... It hadn't been a far climb at all, probably only ten feet or so, and she shook her head at herself. No way she'd struggled that much over such a tiny obstacle! Her mom wouldn't be very proud to hear her make such a fuss inside her own head over what was effectively a molehill, not a mountain! Akihiko was too close for comfort now, and not just because he was kind of gross, and so she turned back up the trail and took off, scattering rocks from the initial foot down.

One foot in front of the other was back, and so was Suzuko. The climb had been tiring, but in some ways it was a nice break from the running, giving some muscles used for running a rest while she put one hand ahead of the other. It wasn't long before she'd finally make it to the presumed peak and raise her arms up in the air in a runner's victory, turning to see Akihiko right behind her.

She listened to the pink-haired boy speak and laughed at first with him, before realizing he was serious. Her face deadpanned for a moment, before the camera panned up to the sound of Suzuko shouting angrily. "AKIHIKOOOOOOO!"

Suzuko was almost never late, and now he was making her late on his first day, the little twerp.

"It's so sad!" the reader said to the writer with a frown. "The character in my book just died!" The author turned to her and burst out into tears, "I know!" he said, "So did mine!"
