Blood in the Soil

Tama Negi waited for the supposedly strong clan leader to arrive at the desk. Sure, clan leaders were normally great, but Negi didn't ever trust them. At any time, they could just be looking out for their own skins rather than trying to protect the village. However, this wasn't the task of the young, foolish Chuunin. His job for today was just tell the clan leader the problem and what to do. Jobs like this gave Negi an ego boost, since he was able to order others around, rather than take them. Sure, he was given the order to give out the orders, but he was still giving the orders.

Twirling his hair and waiting for the nin, Neji yawned. "Stupid Jounins trying to think that they can do whatever they want. Just wait till I advance... then I will be able to be the same rank as them!" he semi-shouted at the end, not caring of others listened, but quickly shut up as he saw the door open.

OOC: If I did something wrong just tell me.

Well, he had only himself to blame for putting himself clear for mission taking again. Sure he had been doing way more paperwork and such than what was good for someone of his skill level, but a B rank mission? That was insulting to say the least... Though he had other things occupying his thoughts at the moment than some silly B-rank mission. 'He should have been back by now, shouldent he?' He thought as he passed by the last corner leading to the room where he would be briefed. The person he was thinking off in question was a certain person within Ezari's own clan, though he did not know the man that well himself.

Like always when Ezari expected to get into battle, or leave the village for the matter, he was wearing his full battle gear. Though it wasnt that impressive since it was all light weight clothing designed to not hinder its wearer. The only thing which looked really off, was his so called 'Shinreiku Blade' which hang by his waist at his right side, looking like a black katana hilt lacking a guard or even a blade. Ready to set off Ezari walked up to the door which would lead him to his assumed mission briefer. Though just as he put his hand on the doorknob he heard a rather loud voice from inside.

"..id Jounins trying to think that they can do whatever they want. Just wait till I advance... then I will be able to be the same rank as them!"

A slightly muffled voice came through the door, though the man was talking loud enough for Ezari to hear him clearly. He couldent help but sigh lightly hearing this, all those chuunins thinking that achieving the status of Jounin was an easy task which only required a certain amount of desk work. Those who were like that would never rank up. Normally Ezari would be nice and wait a little before he opened the door, pretending he never heard what he did, but this time he felt it would be interesting to see this persons reaction, and with that he opened the door and stepped inside.

"The Jounin Shinreiku Ezari reporting for duty." Ezari said, putting extra emphasiz on his rank, he was hoping the chuunin would catch on to the fact he had heard his little rant. Maybe this day would not turn out so bad after all...

Negi instantly shut his mouth when the words came out of the Jounin's mouth. Of course, he also grr'd in his mind at the emphasis, but then put it back further as he remembered that he would, one day, best this old man. Sure, the time wouldn't be now, but it would be some day. "Well, as you read in the small beforehand briefing, you are needed for a mission directly relating to your clan. There have been a few squads that have been sent out to the old site of the Hamusuta clan. Of course, there hasn't been anyone living there for many years since they mysteriously died. However, all convoys have only came back with one member alive and all they were able to say was your clan's name. Right after they spoke the word, their eyes rolled back and then they died. Not really a pleasant sight," he explained, shuddering. "So, you need to go find out what is happening and fix it. Shouldn't be too hard for your Jounin powers," the nin continued, sticking out his tongue for a bit before returning to the proper posture. "The Hamusuta compound was about 2 hours on foot to the west of the west gate, so you should probably start from there."

The chuunin bowed, then returned his gaze to the Jounin. "Any questions?"

Ezari was amused by the chuunin's reaction, though he shut up the moment Ezari had entered the room there was still an obvious sign of discomfort. But for now he should focus on the mission at hand. As the chuunin began to explain the mission to him Ezari listened intently. 'Directly related to my clan, huh? That does'nt bode well.' He thought as the chuunin continued on his briefing. 'The Hamasuta... I remember hearing a little about them shortly after we moved here, but other than that I do not know anything about them. But why would the 'survivors' utter my clans name just before they died? It seem awfully convinient. Most likely some kind of settup...' He thought after having heard the entire briefing.

"Any questions?"

Normally, he'd try to get as much information about the mission as possible, but this was fairly clear cut on what he needed to do, and even more so, he really disliked this kind of guy and knew that the person would see any questions as some kind of weakness. Turning away from the man as he took a few steps towards the door, Ezari then stoped as he reached for the doorknob. "No, if anything it would be why I was not made aware of this when it first happened, but I suppose a chuunin would not be told everything." And with that he exited the room as he began to make his way out of the building. Just a few minutes later he was traveling at a fast pace towards the Hamasuta Clan ruins.

Upon entering the entrance to the ruins, it was obvious that no one had really done much here except die. There were bodies littering the grounds with the weapons of the shinobi scattered around the corpses. Oddly enough, most of the weapons were swords, which were the favored weapon of all the Hamasuta clan members. The houses were all in shambles, save for a single house in the middle, which was completely in tact with dust lining the door. The ruined houses were all radial from the main house, just as before the collapse of the clan.

(Short, but writer's block fails.)

OOC: Sorry about the late reply, my connection died yesterday and it was just recently fixed.

Ezari had made his way toward the 'scene of the crime' at a rather leasurely pace, for him atleast, that translating to being a blur to your average person. After he finally arrived at the Hamasuta grounds, Ezari set his feet down on the ground firmly and approached the area slowly, and though it was not obvious from his casual stance, he was ready to spring into action at a moments notice.

As he walked farther into the area he came across what was most likely the bodies of the squads sent here previously. And it looked like atleast most of them went out in a fight. 'Interesting. I wonder who did this, they seem to have been atleast decently capable, so whomever did this probably had some kind of trick up his sleeve.' Ezari thought as he surveyed the area once more, taking extra note of the intact main building. 'Guess it doesent hurt to be extra carefull' He thought as he closed his eyes for a moment.

'Reikon Joukei!'

At the same time as he unleashed his 'mental command' Ezari opened his eyes, as a glow began to emanate from the irises, giving them an eerie unatural look, and only moments later what could only be described as black mist began to whirl seemingly just behind the eye whites like a storm. For Ezari there was no immidiate change, of course there wasnt, there was no living people around him, and the bodies here had been dead for atleast a few hours, long enough for the soul to leave the body completely.

If the assailant was in the vicinity however, he would not be in clear sight, most likely hiding. And knowing this, Ezari began to walk toward the main building, all the while surveying the area using his stage 2 Soul Sight, hoping to perhaps catch a glimpse of the enemy hiding behind a wall or such, though the 'soul x-ray' of the soul sight was limited, it was very helpfull. If he saw nothing peculiar, he would instead enter the main building to continue his search.

Of course, nothing peculiar appeared from the soul sight. The only thing that littered the land was the corpses and decaying souls of those who were killed and those who had done the killing, but of course, those weren't able to be viewed in ways that would be predictable. As the jounin moved closer and closer to the middle building, the deserted weapons twitched ever-so-slightly with each step. The movement itself wasn't really noticeable to any, but for each step the weapons got louder and louder until the jounin was close enough to reach the building, the weapons were shaking at a tremendous rate, making it seem like a mini-earthquake was occurring in the vicinity.

Seeing as he had not been particularily stealthy when entering the compound, whomever might be behind these incidents must very well have hidden already, should they even be here anymore. Though Ezari carried several signs of what clan he was part off, he wore nothing to signify him as the leader of the clan, or as a Shinobi of the hidden rock village. Not many knew him face to face, even among the clan members, though he would not be surprised if they might have seen a profile picture of him by chance, if they had a reason to.

As he began to walk toward the main building, Ezari's eyes were darting across the main buildings walls, trying to find something that stuck out, like the faint glow of a persons soul hidden behind a wall. Sadly however he had no such luck, but as he began to close in on the opening he began to hear metalic rattling, like several swords shaking, and as he spun around to observe the area behind him, he saw no one. However the slight movement of the weapons easily caught his attention. 'What the heck?' Ezari thought.

A second later he glanced behind him for a second as he jumped several meters off the ground, angling his feet to catch himself on the side of the main building as he focused chakra to his feet, gliding across the smooth surface for a few feet before stopping, using the chakra in his feet to keep himself up in the impossible position. After securing his position Ezari glanced around the area while unconciously reaching for his Shinreiku Blade on his waist, whatever was causing the weapons to behave like that should have to be close-by, and it did not seem like a regular tremor to say the least.

The earth was still as the weapons continued to move at an almost unimaginable rate. As a few more moments passed, one of the swords jumped up into the air, as if held by an invisible figure. Testing itself out, the sword danced for a second in the air then rushed forward, towards the intruder, flying through the air like it had been hurled.
(OOC: Crappy post, but yeah.)

'Well this is certainly odd...' Ezari thought as he watched the weapons vibrate on the ground, while being aware of his surroundings as much as possible. It was possible the weapons was a distraction, so he had to remain vigilant. But that was when one of the swords suddenly shot up into the air, like if held by an invisible hand. This made Ezari's eyes widen in suprise, but being a fairly experienced shinobi he did not give any other reaction to it, although he did not realize it he shifted his full attention to that one sword.

Whatever made the sword fly, it did not seem to be related to soul essence, as he could not see anything around it even with his stage 2 soul sight. However before he could figure anything more out the sword was suddenly hurled toward him, flying through the air at a dangerous speed, though not nearly enough to catch Ezari off guard. Just a second before the sword would have impaled him, Ezari pushed away with his feet and jumped just above the flying blade, and just as it was about to pass by under him he kicked down with his right leg, hitting the sword just below the guard which sent it hurtling down onto the ground. A few moments later Ezari himself landed some meters away from it, as he began to observe his surroundings with caution. Whatever was out there was sure to be after him still.

OOC: I'm assuming the sword was actually 'hurled', IE there was nothing controling it once it was sent flying. If there was, you can PM me so I can fix it.

As the sword was hit away, the other weapons started rumbling even moreso than before, which eventually turned into the weapons flying into the air above the town. The sword that was just recently hit down magically rose up, then zoomed back to where the other weapons had started gathering. Enough swords and other weapons had gathered to a point that it was obvious that there wasn't anything natural about the occurrence. The sword/weapon mixture stayed in the air, floating and waiting for a movement.
