The miners sat in a circle in their mine cart, cards set out in front of them.

"Got a 7?"
"Go fish."
"Damn."

They didn't seem too concerned about the situation, go figure. Miner Shinobi had no fears.

[OoC: Blaaaaaand. But thanks for taking it. I'm just gonna set the scene a little, then you fill in the blanks for me.]

Oushi landed in front of the mine, breathing quickly but not winded, watching as his entourage caught up. All of them were primed for action, shown by their rigid body movements and bright eyes that watched the scene before them unfold. Men were crowding around the presumed entrance, and a few more were trying to get what looked like some zany digging contraption to fire up.

A large man (he was almost as tall as Oushi, and at least twice as wide) with black hair came over, carrying an oversize pickaxe on one shoulder.

"You're late." he grumbled, his throaty voice making Oushi cringe.

"Sorry Dad, I came as soon as I could."

"I know. Anyway, here's the skinny. There's seven of us down there. Main support beam for a new wing going in collapsed and seems like the rukus knocked some kinda water loose. We don't know how long they can last down there, and the damn drill won't fire up." the middle aged man seemed annoyed, but not worried. This kind of thing was routine, if not commonplace.

"Alright, I get the idea. Just point me in the right direction."

The man looked at Oushi as if he was in no mood to deal with bullshit. Sure, this was common, but usually they just waited for the trapped men to find a new route. Now he was being rushed, and man oh man did he hate being rushed.

He lifted his unoccupied arm and pointed to an area that had been marked off with a chalk-like substance on the ground, and pulled out a radio, "You fellas down there sure the area you had us mark off is good to go?" heasked into the radio.

"sure as well ever be. was the reply. "well you heard him. Get to it."

[Punslinger]

"Alright Dad, we're on it." the jounin approached the marked off area, and motioned to Patsu and Fubuki. The goat moved off to the side and flopped down on the ground, and the vulture landed on Patsu's bulky shoulders with practiced ease. "Alright guys, let's do this."

On cue, the animals began plowing through the dirt side by side, opening up a hole about four feet wide and two and a half feet high. After a moment, they had gotten deep enough that Oushi followed after, widening the hole a little and lining the sides with spikes to act as support pillars every four or five feet.

After a moment, his voice could be heard from down in the ever lengthening tunnel, "By the way Dad, how far down are these guys?"

Habi and Shuu:
Doton Enko [Earth Affinity]

Being natural born diggers, Habi and Shuu are able to move freely underground at a considerable pace (half their speed stat) in most soil. They do still, however, have trouble with rocky ground, (or just plain rock) only being able to move at roughly the same speed a normal ninja would when using the Mole Hiding technique.


Oushi:
*Doton Moguragakure no Jutsu [Earth Element Mole Hiding Technique]

Doton Moguragakure no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Earth Element. This technique allows the ninja to burrow into the ground and hide out of sight. This allows them to avoid attack or travel underground. Tobi used this jutsu to place Deidara's C2 Doragon spheres underground.

Doton Doton Kasui Soushi [Earth Element Earth Spike Creation]

Prerequisite: Doton Iwa Soushi [Earth Element Rock Creation Skill]

By using the skills learned in Iwa Soushi, the user is now able to raise solid stone spikes from the ground. The user can summon however many of these pikes he/she wishes, as long as they provide enough chakra for them to completely form. If these spikes were to actually be raised beneath an opponent, it would cause serious, even fatal injuries. This technique is more often used to obstruct the user's opponents, and even to harm them while they are distracted.

The man grunted, "Couldn't say for sure. Its a huge open area though, which is why its taking so long to fill up. Just keep digging until you fall through.", he said. Clearly being of no help at all.

The hole could now officially be called a tunnel, although the going could have been faster. This was no ordinary earth. Although not completely solid rock, the cave in had been all mountain, so Oushi was forced to stop periodically and shuffle large boulders back to the opening while Habi and Shuu kept digging.

Foot by foot, the tunnel kept going down, sloping as deeply as possible without losing foot purchase. As he worked his way down, he could smell moisture in the dank air, which was a relief. Under normal conditions, the tunnel would be incredibly dusty given the speed at which his pets were churning up earth.

At the entrance, Oushi pushed out another oversize boulder and made his way back down, ensuring that he'd put up enough spikes to hold the roof. The comfortable rhythm he was working at almost lulled him into a good mood, which he pulled himself forcefully out of.

These men really are in danger. Gotta hurry.

With the drilling, if thats what you would call it, starting, the men relaxed. Well, they were already pretty relaxed. So, they resumed their card game.

"Gotta 9?
"Damn, yeah, I do."
Heh, loser."

By now it was becoming time-consuming to carry the occasional boulder all the way back to the entrance, so Oushi pulled Doki off his back, holding the massive hammer in the cramped space with the axe blade forward. When Shuu and Habi next ran into a boulder and made their way around it, the jounin called them back, and they stood behind him as he squared his shoulders and shattered the big rock with a determined thrust. Coughing and waving the dust away, Oushi motioned for the digging duo to begin again, and they did.

"Yeesh. Maybe I should tone it back a bit." the jounin wheezed.

Ganjou Sumasshu [Strong Smash Technique]

Prerequisite: The user must possess a blade of some kind.

A technique used by a blade-wielder, this technique is designed to conserve energy in battle. By releasing chakra into their weapon and releasing it at the point of impact, the user can simply swing their blade at their usual pace and cause large boulders to shatter (if not completely hard on the Mohs scale) into tiny pieces, often useful for other Doton techniques.
