[Mission] - Breakin' Rocks in the Hot Sun

Oh Iwagakure. Land of stoic people and silly idiots who thought performing Doton in the middle of crowed roads was a terrific idea. The boulders were essentially just that, huge chunks of rock in the road. Two seemed to be basically a foot above average human height, one seemed to be a few feet above that and one in particular seemed to be, basically, a solid hunk of Earth at least twelve feet tall. Fun.

The road was clear as most people had taken the side paths to get around it and thankfully the road was a transport one, so no houses were around. On either side was a rocky incline that led up onto ridges and the rocks were arrange in a classic blockade formation; The two smaller rocks together, blocking one side, then the medium one blocking the other and finally the large one blocking the road proper. Technically only the main one needed to be dealt with, but the mission specified all four.

There was a small side path that led to a cliff and the road on either wise was clear of people to interrupt. Which left Ishiko, some boulders and a jolly good time.

And yeah, the sun was pretty hot today.

Ishiko walked out into the vastness of Iwa's wasteland, perfectly pre-occupied with the heat. The girl was quite absorbed in it, and had brought along two canteens, strung to her belt and banging agaisnt her right hip, both filled to the brim with cool water. Thinking about the water made the Genin want to try to get at it immediately, but she made a deal with herself.

A drink when she reached her destination, a drink when she basically got the job done, and a drink on the way home. Refrain from over-using such a precious commodity, she had to keep reminding herself. In and out; simple and sweet. Just clear debris.

Glancing at the rather impressive blockade of boulder that seemed to be set up almost in a manner almost seeming to be set up purposely to block the road Ishiko let out a low, long whistle and got to work. She'd release kunai, wrap an explosive tag around the hilt, and impale them systematically and with purpose.

Two kunai were impaled at the base of each of the smaller rocks, four more were impaled in the base of the large rock, and two more kunai were impaled at the base of the medium sized rock.

The two kunai at the smaller rocks were on the left side, meant to propel the rocks down into the incline and away from the road, while the two kunai on the medium rock were on the right side, meant to propel the rock down the left side of the opposite side of the road.

The remaining four kunai impaled into the base of the giant rock was more of a test then anything--testing the waters to see whether or not the boulder would crack into smaller rocks.

Sighing as she finished her work, the young Genin would quickly take a small jog, getting about 15 feet away from the boulders, holding her hand-signs in a Kai position, and releasing the explosive tags.

This kai is a deviation from the original technique; rather than concentrate on distorting her whole body, Ishiko has the chakra distorting qualities focus on the tips of her fingers. This cannot be used to release Ishiko or anyone from a Genjutsu, rather, it is used by her to quickly release seals that she has made; this technique will not release a seal that has not been made by Ishiko.

The plan's success was a profound one, for the most part. As Ishiko had planned, the explosive tags produced results immediately. The smaller boulders were dislodged from the blocking formation, but in different ways. One, indeed, blasted down the side road and rolled into the gorge, but this one's path blocked the pin-balling of the other smaller one, meaning that it spun out on the cliff-side road slightly and remained in the middle of that one, only a few meters from the cliff.

The medium sized one blew back heavily and rolled down the road, but it stopped just short of going down it and it rolled to a stop, wheeling back and forth slowly. The blast had taken chunks out of it and they were laying on the road in easy to handle piles, the small ones producing similar results. Now those boulders had moved and what was left were several piles of debris. They other boulders still had to be disposed off, but the job was easier without such a front.

The huge boulder was the real issue. The four explosive tags had, indeed, taken chunks out of it but those chunks only seemed to cause more problems. The boulder had rolled back a few feet down the opposite side of the road, but large, person sized pieces of rock were now scattered in front of it.

Ishiko wiped a bead of sweat from her brow, sighing a bit. The explosions had done a good part of the trick, but there was still so much work to be done. Sighing, Ishiko would stroll over to the rocks, taking a canteen and taking long, deep gulps of refreshing water.

This would be a lot of work.

Sighing, she replaced the cap and would drop the canteen, holding out a distinct hand-sign and uttering, "Kage bunshin no jutsu!" In an instant, two other Ishiko clones appeared side by side the original, as solid and as strong as the original. Nodding to each other, the one-girl clearing crew got to work.

First, the trio of Ishiko would get to work on the Medium-sized rock, each Ishiko pushing the rock the center of it's mass, trying to get the rock to fall over into the ledge. Seeing as how it was already swaying, the Ishiko clones would hopefully have little issue.

Assuming that they pushed the medium-sized rock over the ledge, each Ishiko went to work picking up handfuls of the chunks of rock that were left, chucking them out into the distance. They'd pick of large, baseball sized chunks, chunks that were about as big as their head, etc. and chuck them away, clearing the job much faster had it just been Ishiko.

With the majority of the small debris out of the way, the trio teamed up again, handling the large chunks left behind by the huge boulder's explosion. Working together, the trio would work to push each large, person-sized chunk individually out into opposite sides of the incline and out into the ridge.

It was laborious, toiling work, but, assuming that the three Ishiko's all together would be strong enough to move all the chunks of rock out of the way, all that would remain would be the huge boulder.

After forming the needed handseals, the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed.

The work indeed went quite quickly thanks to the trio's team up and the subsequent moving. The road was clearing up by the minute and before long the hard work would begin to pay off. The small boulder chunks were easily cleared as were the chunks originating from the medium boulder. They were actually quite easy considering that the blast had shaped them into slightly smooth forms. The big problem were the large chunks of boulder. They had blown into craggy and otherwise dangerously pointy shapes and keeping hand-hold on them was a challenge unto itself, but each one was individually nearly half the size of the small boulder. And much denser, it seemed. Each large chunk took precious minutes and energy to move without hurting anyone.

The medium boulder was still quite heavy and trying to move it was a laborious task if ever there was one. What was also factoring in was all the parts of the road where it could get stuck. Every divit, pot hole and crack turned into a sticking point for the huge boulder. The worst one came up 5 meters from the cliff: A piece of ground gave way under it and it stuck, fast. The piece that broke off was a nice dip of pulverized dust by now and the rock had stuck in a very awkward way, seemingly teetering more on falling back then going forward.

Ishiko, sighing at her own misfortune, cursed a bit. Motioning for her clones ton stand back, and watch their step, the clones and Ishiko stepped back about ten feet.

Then, as they all looked towards the original, Ishiko # 1 nodded. "Kakkai Sakura. One from each of us on my count." The other two clones nodded, seeming to have thought the same thing. Ishiko would inhale, letting out, "Three . . . two . . . one!" Immediately, a flurry of hand-seals came up and, from each clone, a fireball the size of a soft ball spat out, each aimed at a different angle for the medium-sized rock.

Hopefully the explosion would destroy the rock into chunks that were more manageable, and the trio would, if their success was indeed so, pick up the chunks of rock and chuck them over the cliff.

Assuming she finished her arduous task, Ishiko would dismiss her two clones, sighing and walking back to the road, taking a gulp from her canteen and popping in a food pill into her mouth, chewing the bitter nourishment. She rested there for about an hour, simply sitting slumped on the road, her face growing red in the sun, and drinking from her canteen.

She wasn't extremely tired per say, but enjoying a nice break would do wonders for her. Especially in this heat. Standing up with some new invigoration and realizing that she'd finished one canteen, Ishiko would pick up the spare, walk off about 20 feet, and turn to face the large, imposing rock in the road.

She sighed, dropping her full canteen, and had her hands come together in a flurry of hand-seals. Five fire balls, each aimed at different points of the boulder, would be fired off. Although the five were aimed at different points, all of them were still concentrated towards the center of the boulder, hoping to destroy it into as many little chunks as possible.

By concentrating her Katon Chakra into small, concise bursts, Ishiko delivers more damage upon impact (immediate burns) and a explosion with each 'cherry blossom'. This jutsu starts with the breath, with Ishiko's inhalation of air, and exhalation of small fireballs (roughly the size of a soft ball) with which have the explosive capabilities to blast through concrete and thick stone. How many she can produce per use of this jutsu is equal to her stamina.

The fireballs were successful enough on the medium boulder, resulting in it shattering nicely under the heat and pressure before falling apart in what could best be called slag. It melted a little as it fell apart, but in most general senses it worked as she had planned. It was easier to carry, anyway, once they'd nuked it into oblivion. The slag was quite slick oddly, meaning it rolled nicely.

The wait did nicely for not only her, but the weather. The sun cooled a little, or so it seemed at least, as it lowered in the sky just a little more as she waited. The area was much clearer then before, but the remaining boulder was reasonably describable as 'massive' and unreasonably describable as 'Jesus that's a bigass chunk of rock' you have there'. It looked like someone had gone overboard on it's size. More likely, this particular chuunin had decided to practice the age old are of roadblocking and gotten a little carried away.

This time, as she approached the large boulder, it finally seemed to give even just a little more. The explosion of flames sent bits scattering haphazardly around the area and several more large chunks fell off, leaving only a pile of debris and what could vaguely be called the 'base' of the boulder.

Ishiko, satisfied at how many chunks were left, decided to wait a bit longer for the rocks to cool off from the recent explosion. After about ten minutes of standing about and kicking the dirt at her feet, Ishiko finally sighed, her hands coming together in the form of a hand-sign yet again.

Two more Ishiko's appeared side-by side the original, and three-girl crew got to work picking up the chunks of rock that could be picked up. Sometimes one Ishiko could carry several rock-chunks, occasionally they had to work in pairs, and rarely, the three of them would have to work together to carry the rock chunks.

Now, learning her lesson from simply pushing the rocks over the ledge, Ishiko had herself and her clones carry the rocks instead, watching their step as they'd navigate the risky terrain and, once close enough, toss the rocks in hand over the cliff. It would all be a very systematic process, actually.

This work was slower than simply pushing the rocks over, but it so that, with heavier slabs of rock such as the small but dense chunks left over that required two Ishiko clones, they wouldn't get stuck in a crack or sink-hole.

Eventually, tossing all the rocks aside, Ishiko would, assuming she was successful, come to face the base. Testing the weight, Ishiko found that all three Ishiko's could handle the weight of the base. Still, just to be safe, Ishiko forced out another Kage Bunshin to help. All four lifting up the base, they'd walk slowly, carefully, and try to avoid any ridges or suspicious-looking surfaces, to, eventually, reach the cliff and, with a rather satisfied sigh, heave the heavy base over the cliff and ending the mission.
