Nothing travels quite as fast as a rumor; even light can't compete with the incredble speed that a could-be truth spreads among minds. Sometimes this rumor can be spread without a word ever being said. Rumors, and uncertainty, can be the bane of even the greatest organization; great kingdoms have toppled from things someone heard in a bar one night. Of course, the Tsuchikage simply can't let unrest and fear spread through his men. The issue, small as it may be now, can blossom in ways that people can never expect. So it was that he had tasked a chuunin of the village to go investigating.

The supposed initial sighting was a large ring of stone, looking almost like some hungry maw if spotted from above. As many as a dozen people had claimed to see someone wearing what was either a scratched out head protector, or one from any numbers of villages; all of them, of course, unallied with Iwagakure. Stories were varied, but what they did say was that the people spotted, whoever they were, didn't appear for long. It wouldn't take too long to figure out this whole thing. The toughest part would be figuring out what to do after it was figured out.
