"Well this trip is already going better than the last one." Mitsuo called out enthusiastically from atop his mighty steed of a mule as he and Tatsuo traveled across the steppes of Rock Country. "We haven't encountered any bears, or wolves, and we even managed to take the safe way across that river instead of trying to swim through it." And the weather, he noted internally, was much better than the last time that they had come through. While it was still cold enough to prompt him to wear his thermal long sleeve shirt underneath his heavy cloak, there was not a speck of snow to be found. Well, in the sky at least.

In the days prior to their trip, Michi, one of the monks of the Iron Shrine located in the steppes of rock country, had sent word to Mitsuo and Tatsuo requesting their assistance, though no specifics as to why had been provided. It had taken a few days to arrange the trip with the village, as they Shrine had not made a formal request to the village, but they had managed to get authorization to at least travel to the Shrine and were finally on their way.

"I wonder what they need us for," Mitsuo said aloud to his partner as he stretched his body a little. The continuous seated position atop the mule was becoming somewhat uncomfortable. "Though, I suppose it doesn't matter much. We do owe them, don't we? So whatever this is, it would sort of be like our repayment to them."

Mitsuo was right. So far the current trip to the shrine was much less turbulent than their initial contact with the settlement. Once they had been inducted into the order, however, their own abilities with Kouton had flourished to heights, Tatsuo at least, was not expecting previously. He had been fascinated and enraptured by his newfound ability since then and had devoted quite some time into creating a multitude of jutsu which he was eager to tell Michi about.

"I mean, as long as it isn't just cleaning the windows of the shrine or something super simple I'm game. Otherwise I may complain about how much of a pain it is to get time off for something so simple when there's plenty of other disciples who could do it." Tatsuo shrugged after his comment, not really worried about what the monks would have them do. "But, I doubt it's something simple. Michi seemed to understand last time about how important the village was in dictating our schedule. This shouldn't take us too long, either."

Mitsuo grunted in agreement with Tatsuo's statement. If they had traveled all of the way out here to complete some sort of menial task, well, neither boy was likely to actually do anything about it, but they weren't going to be happy about it. Whether they owed the monks or not, menial labor was not the way that they wanted to pay them back. "Well we will find out soon enough I suppose." Mitsuo replied back, nodding his head at something up ahead. Off in the distance, still some two to three miles from the boys, stood a sizable structure surrounded by very little else. Close inspection of the building would show that it was constructed almost entirely of metal, tempered and shaped and then reinforced by stone masonry. This was the building known as the Iron Shrine.

The boys arrived at the front gates of the shrine approximately a half hour of first sighting from a distance. Met at the door by a pair of young monks, Mitsuo slid off of his mule and unhooked his supply pack from it before handing the reins to one of the boys. "Take good care of them," he said to the boy, indicating the pack animals, "It comes out of our pay if something happens to them."

"Oh don't worry sir," the monk replied, "Our animal keeper is very good at his job. He'll treat them very well until you need them again." And with that the two boys led the animals away towards a smaller structure that Mitsuo assumed housed the Shrine's animals.

"Shall we?" Mitsup said to Tatsuo, motioning at the front door. Entering the building, the boys first came to a large entrance hall which had several long hallways branching off of it, likely leading to other parts of the shrine. "Which way do you think we should go?" He asked as he looked around.

"Ah, you boys finally made it!" Came a voice from behind them. Turning, Mitsuo saw an older monk in light gray robes approaching them from down one of the hallways. This monk they knew, however.

"Michi!" Mitsuo called out in greeting, giving the monk a slight bow of acknowledgement as he approached, "We're sorry it took us so long. It took some time to get the village to sign off on it."

"Yes, well, all that matters is that you're here." The monk replied, "Have you both been practicing with your new found abilities?" He asked, referring to the blessing that they received the last time that they had come to the shrine.

Mitsuo paused for a moment before he answered. In truth, he hadn't actually had the chance to experiment much with the capabilities of kouton beyond their standard teachings. Between the various missions that he had been on and his work with the family forge, he hadn't had much free time to try it out yet.

"I...haven't yet." Mitsuo admitted honestly, a little embarrassed, "But I have a lot of plans for future techniques." he added.

"Ah, well, make sure you actually take the time to learn how to use it. You don't want that blessing to go to waste now." Michi replied, mildly scolding him.

Mitsuo nodded in agreement, his embarrassment worsening. He was definitely going to have to take the time to learn some new techniques. "Tatsuo has been practicing though, right?" He said, looking at his partner.

Tatsuo was quiet as Mitsuo led their small band onwards. He was just glad they were doing this in the day time and without wolves and bears nipping at their heels. The trip to the shrine was pleasant and this time the mules survived the trip. The village had been suspicious when they returned and the mules did not have the proper brandings on them but the stall guards did not seem to care as long as two mules were returned.

The younger genin followed his friend up the steps of the shrine and pushed them open to enter the building. "I have no idea. We didn't really get to see where Michi slept or resided the last time we were here. Just the basement, infirmary, and head priests room. Hopefully he'll fin-"

It seemed Michi was a damn mind reader.

The monk came around the back end, scaring Tatsuo and causing him a flinch a moment before turning to face the older man. A smile started to grow on his face as Michi asked about the blessing.

Unlike Mitsuo, Tatsuo had dove into training with his newfound blessing. "I've been practicing TOO much with it, honestly." Tatsuo let out a nervous chuckle. "I've been neglecting my other skills but I've gotten pretty damn good since the last time you saw us." Now the boy's smile was beaming.

"So Michi, what did you need of us?" He asked, eager to get into the task at hand.

"Well that is very good to hear," Michi said in response to Tatsuo, "When you have finished what you have come here to do, I would very much like to see some of the things that you have learned."

"Now, before we get on to business, I'm sure you could use a short break from traveling." he said, turning back towards the hallway from whence he came and motioning for both boys to follow him. After a short way down the hall, it opened up into a mess hall of sort with several tables and benches placed throughout the room where various monks were seated and partaking in the afternoon meal. "Go ahead and take a seat." He said as he motioned to an attendant. As they sat down, a young monk brought over a tray with water and bowl of soup for each of them. "I know it isn't a very glamorous meal, but I'm afraid it is all we can manage right now." Michi said, somewhat apologetically, "Which, I suppose, brings us to why you are here."

"I'm afraid that in recent months, there has been an increase in bandit activity throughout the region." He began, "They have been attacking innocent civilians and merchants who have been traveling between villages and either killing, kidnapping, or robbing them. Unfortunately for us, that includes many of the merchants who normally deliver supplies to us throughout the year. Due to this, we have found ourselves in a supply shortage of sorts. Not only have merchants been attacked, many of them will no longer send out any supplies to the region for fear of being attacked. And while we have managed to get some supplies from other sources, they are not nearly enough for us to sustain ourselves for very long." He explained while the boys ate their meal and listened eagerly.

"That is where you boys come in," He continued, "There is a merchant in a village that is about a two day journey from here who has agreed, though reluctantly, to deliver a significant amount of supplies to us if we can arrange protection for him. So, naturally, we decided to ask for support from the village or, more specifically, from you two boys."

"Not that I'm complaining about being able to get out of the village for a bit," Mitsuo began, in between sips from his soup, "But I thought the monks here were well trained in the art of ninjutsu and kouton and all that. Wouldn't it have been faster to send a group of monks than to wait on us?"

"Ah, well, I can't say that we did not consider that option." Michi replied, "But while our monks have learned powerful techniques, very few of them have ever had to wield those techniques in true combat. If we sent them out to protect the merchant from these bandits, we were not confident that they would succeed. As such, we felt that it would be more appropriate if we sent official shinobi of Iwagakure to do the job." He explained further, feasting on his soup as well, "Besides, we thought that the merchant may feel more secure if his bodyguards were from Iwagakure and not us."

"Wouldn't it be more effective to eliminate the threat instead of protecting against it?" Mitsuo asked, "If the bandits were gone, the merchants wouldn't have to worry about being attacked while delivering the supplies."

"Perhaps, but our primary objective at this time is to secure the delivery of the supplies to the shrine." Michi replied, "Without the supplies, we may not be able to feed the monks or care for our sick and wounded or perform a number of other essential functions. The supplies take priority for now."

Mitsuo nodded in understanding. His instinct still told him that they should eliminate the threat of the bandits completely, but he understood the monk's reasoning. The mission was to secure the supplies and protect their delivery, not eliminate the bandits, so that was what they would do.

"Alright, I'm in." He said, looking over at Tatsuo who he was sure would agree as well, "Where do we have to go?"

In response to Mitsuo's question, Michi pulled out a map from his robe and laid it out on the table. There was a small dot circled on the map in an area not terribly far from the shrine. "The village that the merchant is located in is located here." He said, pointing to the dot, "His name is Hirai, Futoshi. He should be expecting you. If he asks you to prove that we sent you, give him this." Michi said, pulling a small envelope out of his robe and sliding it across the table, "It is a letter of confirmation signed by our elder and sealed with wax using the shrine's seal. It should be enough to prove you are who you say you are."

Tatsuo, being the youngest of the group, elected to keep his mouth quiet for now while everyone else talked. This did not mean, however, that he did not pay attention to what was being said.

The young man's eyes lit up at the mention of food. The journey here was tedious and they had brought rations but they were small morsels of food meant to stave off their hunger for short periods of time. Hopefully the monks would have something good...

The hope of good food was shot down as the situation was explained. He thanked the younger monk for the meal before starting to eat. Spoonfuls of soup went into Tatsuo's gullet while the words of his elders went into his ears.

Mitsuo brought up a good point about how the monks were proficient and could probably defend themselves but then again Michi had an even better point. It'd be risky to send monks to protect a caravan when they had no experience at all with confronting a serious threat. Mitsuo nodded and looked to his companion who nodded in turn and turned back to Michi who gave them more information about the supplier and a piece of proof just in case the merchant was wary.

"Sounds like we'll get to have some fun after all, Mitsuo." Tatsuo chimed in with a smile as he reached out and pocketed the letter before looking at the map and the location of the village. "It's not too far, actually. We're probably better off on foot and going at usual mission speed compared to taking the mules. Plus I'd rather not lose another pair..." Tatsuo lamented with a mirthless chuckle.

"I agree," Mitsuo replied, "If we move quickly enough and don't have to worry about the mules, we should be able to get there within a day. And even if we don't, there seem to be a small village or two along the way that we could probably stop at if need be." He added, pointing at a few spots on the monk's map, "Would you mind if we take this with us?" Mitsuo asked, "Your map here seems to be a bit more detailed than the one I brought with us from the Iwagakure."

"I suppose," Michi said a bit reluctantly, "We don't have many that are so detailed, though, so please try to return it in good condition."

"We promise," Mitsuo said as he gingerly folded it up and handed it to Tatsuo. It was better that he hold it anyways, "We will look after it much better than we did the two mules we had on our last trip."

"Well I would sure hope so." The monk replied, "You fed them to the bears and the wolves."

"Yes, well, we won't do that to the map. We promise." Mitsuo replied, "But we should probably get going if we want to at least get to one of those villages along the way before nightfall." He said, looking over at Tatsuo.

"Yes you are probably right," Michi replied, "Will you be needing any supplies for your trip?" He asked, "We don't have much, but whatever we can offer is at your disposal."

"I don't think that will be necessary, right?" He said, looking at Tatsuo for confirmation, "We should probably be packing light anyways so that we can move quickly. The sooner we get to the merchant's village, the better."

"Alright, well, be careful boys." The monk said, "We don't need you dying out there."

"We'll be fine, Michi." Mitsuo replied with a soft chuckle before turning to Tatsuo, "Let's go."

Tatsuo laughed as he gently rolled up the map and stashed it away on his person. Michi was right, they'd have to be careful with the map or else it would end up like their previous steads.

"We didn't FEED them to the wildlife, the wildlife came looking for us." Tatsuo countered as he went through a mental checklist of his supplies and gear. He had taken everything off of his mule earlier and was ready to go. Hearing that Mitsuo was also ready, Tatsuo bowed to his teacher before exiting the room and making his way through the halls of the temple towards the exit.

Once outside, Tatsuo blinked at the difference in brightness before removing the map and consulting it for a minute. Their rendezvous point was about a day's travel from their current location if they left now.

"We're already going to arrive late. Probably around midnight if we're slow which means we'll be ready once the sun is up to get this escort on the road." Tatsuo told his friend as he began heading in the direction of the supplier.

As Tatsuo checked over the map, Mitsuo checked through his gear to make sure that everything that he wanted to bring was securely packed away. Anything that he wasn't taking, which wasn't very much at all, would stay behind and he would just pick it up once they returned with the supplies. "Well if we arrive around midnight, we're probably going to have to wait until the sun is up to even get a chance to talk to the guy." Mitsuo replied, "Unless you plan on waking him up in the middle of the night." Mitsuo wasn't particularly fond of that plan, however. He had a feeling that the merchant was already going to be on edge given all of the recent bandit attacks. Waking him up in the middle of the night probably wasn't going to win them any favors. "Regardless, I hope they have an inn or something in his village."

Mitsuo took off after his partner as the pair departed from the shrine. Taking off into the steppes, they began at a brisk walk and eventually transitioned into a full on shinobi sprint, determined to reach the village as soon as possible. As the time passed, they made idle chat about the areas that they passed through and their possible plans once the reached the village, all while the sun slowly descended from the sky.

"There's a village nearby right?" Mitsuo asked as the pair took a water break, the sun having already set. They had covered a significant amount of ground, but it would be several more hours before they reached their destination. "I know we said that we wanted to try and reach the merchant's village tonight, but we both know how dangerous this area can be at night." He said, recalling their previous trips through the countryside, "Since there's another village nearby, why don't we stop in there and see if they have an inn. That way we can rest up and then leave early in the morning for the merchant's village. And, we may even be able to ask around about the bandits."

"Well, if we REALLY wanted a head start on our little bandit problem, it'd probably be smart to leave super early in the morning." Tatsuo's mouth moved into a cheeky grin. "That way, y'know, they have no idea when we left and how far ahead of them we already are. We'd probably be able to move pretty leisurely once we got going and you and I could lay plenty of traps as we moved with the supplies. Let the merchant rest on the ride and have one of us take turns on the cart while the other rests." Tatsuo had presented a valid strategy but neither of them seemed to want to commit to that idea too much it seemed.

"But, we can definitely hit the village around this area. It'll also give us some time to do some scouting, you're right. Maybe we can learn how big our adversary is because right now we just know bandits." Tatsuo shrugged mid sprint as the two shinobi continued on in the dark, the sounds of the wildlife echoing around them as time moved on.

Slowly, the dim lights of torches came into view as they traversed over another set of hills. Tatsuo nodded in the direction of the village as they decided to stop for the night and attempt some rest.

Mitsuo considered Tatsuo's logic and had to admit, he did have a point. The smart thing to do would be to get to the merchant's village as soon as possible and get back on the road at dawn in the hopes that the bandits wouldn't be around to catch them. Then again, if they ran all night just to get to the village and barely got any rest, it would be a detriment to their ability to protect the merchant the following day. And the possibility of gaining some information on "I still think it would be better to stop." Mitsuo replied, a response that Tatsuo seemed to eventually agree with.

Spotting the dim lights of the village in the distance, the two shinobi diverted their original path to head towards it. Coming up to the village gates, they would find that while it was not a large village, it was still decently populated with some of its citizens still meandering about despite the late hour. "I'm surprised to see so many people still out right now." Mitsuo said as they passed several groups of villagers, many of whom took a moment to stare openly at them as they passed. Clearly the pair of shinobi stood out. "Let’s see if we can find an inn."

Wandering the streets for several minutes, the boys would eventually come across a rather simple looking building with an equally simple wooden sign with the words "Inn and Tavern" carved into it. "Hopefully they have some room for us." Mitsuo said as he moved towards the door of the building. Walking through the entrance, the boys would be brought into a rather large, open room full of tables and chairs and illuminated primarily by the fireplace in the back and a few torches on the wall. The room was sparsely populated by various men and a few women with one group of several men sitting together at one of the back tables. As the boys entered, some of the patrons simply ignored their existence while others, like some of the villagers on the streets, openly stared at them.

"Can I help you boys?" came a voice from behind them. Looking for the source of the voice, Mitsuo turned to find an older heavy set woman standing behind them.

"Yes, uh, we were wondering if there were any rooms available for the night." Mitsuo replied.

"If you got the money, we have the rooms sweetie." The woman replied with a wink a smile, "We don't get many travelers around these parts lately."

"That's great!" Mitsuo responded, returning the grin. He was sure that it was going to come back to bite him, but maybe being nice to the innkeeper would work in their favor. Digging into on of this pouches, Mitsuo came out with a small handful of coins. "Will this be enough to cover the both of us for the night?" Mitsuo asked, holding out the coins towards the woman.

"This much will cover you for the room and then some." The woman replied as she took the coins from Mitsuo and pocketed them, "It will take a little bit to get your rooms ready. Why don't you boys go take a seat over there by the fire. Feel free to help yourselves to a bowl of soup from the cauldron over the fire while you're at it. Free of charge." She added before walking away, likely to prepare their rooms.

Motioning Tatsuo to follow him, Mitsuo moved towards the fire, selecting an empty table that wasn't too far from it. "At least she seemed nice." Mitsuo said softly to Tatsuo, "Everyone else seems to be watching us pretty closely though." He added, taking note that the group of men in the corner across the room in particular seemed to be fairly interested in he and Tatsuo, whispering amongst themselves as they watched the shinobi pair.

Tatsuo walked besides his partner, doing his best to attempt to look inconspicious to the population of the town but failing judging by their open stares at the two young shinobi. The majority of the people out at this time were inebriated and jovial, the smell of alcohol hung in the air as those wandering the streets seemed to be exiting one of the inns and taverns.

Their discovery of the inn was underwhelming, the sign pointing them inside the establishment with little run around compared to some other situations the duo may have found themselves in. They were lucky they were not forced to camp the night out in a barn or something else, the Rock Country cold nights could be dangerous depending on the time of year as the two had already found out. "Honestly, they're all drunk so they probably won't even remember seeing us." Tatsuo told his friend in a hushed tone as they entered the building.

He let the older shinobi do all the talking with the innkeeper, offering her a cheeky smile as she took Mitsuo's money and granted them a room. Following his compatriot, he moved towards the fire and the table that had been selected. Unlike Mitsuo, however, the younger boy moved to grab a bowl of soup before sitting down at the table. While he was grabbing some soup, Tatsuo had gazed across the room and gotten a quick profile of each of the patrons.

He sat with his bowl of soup, wooden spoon clacking against the wooden bowl as he sat down and began to dig into it. "Yeah, they're looking at us like we ain't supposed to be here." Tatsuo muttered though to anyone who dared look it seemed as if he was blowing on his soup. "Anything suspicious 'bout them? Or can you not see anything?"

"I'm not exactly sure what counts as suspicious around here." Mitsuo muttered in response, trying not to make direct eye contact with the group of men as he glanced in their direction. "They're pretty big though. I get the sense that they aren't the friendly type." He added with a soft chuckle.

"Is the soup any good?" Mitsuo asked curiously, wondering whether he wanted a bowl or not.

"It's some of the best soup in town!" Came a rather enthusiastic, if not a tad loud, response. Looking for the source of the voice, Mitsuo found that one of the bar's patrons, whom he hadn't been watching, had made his way over to the pair of shinobi, drink in hand. He appeared to be in his late twenties to early thirties with shaggy brown hair and dressed fairly lazily. And the way he swayed as he stood told Mitsuo that the man likely wasn't sober. "O'l Meiko makes the soup herself when she's not runnin 'round taking care of the place. You should try it!"

"Oh, uh…thanks." Mitsuo managed to mutter, shooting Tatsuo a sidelong glance. Hopefully, Mitsuo thought, the man would just go away if they didn't engage him.

Unfortunately, instead of going away, the man pulled up a nearby chair and sat himself at their table. "The name's Goichi!" He said, nearly as loud as before, "We don't get many travelers passing through nowadays. What brings two fellas like you around these parts?" He asked, a tad softer.

"Oh, we're just traveling passing through on our way to another village." Mitsuo replied a bit evasively as he moved his chair slightly so that his back was turned more towards the wall. He didn't need anybody else sneaking up on them and this positioning would give him a better view of the entire tavern.

"You sure seem a bit more armed than yer typical travelers." Goichi replied before leaning in a bit. "You fellas may wanna hide those symbols of yers around here." He said, indicating the shinobi's Iwagakure symbols, "Not many people around here that are too fond of the big Village right now."

"Why not, exactly?" Mitsuo asked lowly as he removed his Enkouten sash and folded it before placing it in his side pouch. While he obviously couldn’t be sure, the man seemed to be friendly enough. Moreso than the rest of the bar at least.

"Why, don't you know?" Goichi asked in return, "There are bandits in the area! Have been for a while. Real bad ones too. Our village militia has been able to keep them from doing anything to the village itself, but the same can't be said for travelers and merchants." Goichi explained, "And we haven't been able to get yer village to come take care of them yet so a lot of people 'round here are frustrated."

That would explain some of the dirty looks, Mitsuo thought to himself. Though, he would have thought that villagers would be happy to see them if they had been waiting for a response from Iwa. Then again, they weren't here to stop the bandits. They weren't even supposed to be in this village at all.

"So they're the big, dumb type with a bit of strength behind them and they're plastered? Sounds easy if they decide to grow some balls and start something." Tatsuo muttered into his soup, the action looking as if he was simply blowing on it to cool down the contents. "It's...decent. I'm not going to ask what it was made with but it doesn't take bad." Tatsuo commented on the quality of the meal, the soup was thick with bits of beef in it and some spices thrown in. It wasn't horrible but...sober people wouldn't consistenly eat it.

Tatsuo continued to shovel the meal into his mouth with a grin as the drunk man came over and began talking to the two shinobi. He decided to shut up and listen to the man in front of him, hoping that he'd give away some form of valuable intel about the group in the inn, the town itself, or hell the bandits.

Luckily for them, the man spilled about everything.

Tatsuo shifted his shirt so that it covered and hide the Iwagakure symbol on the front of his belt face. He frowned as he thought about what the man had said, the village hadn't received any aid. Either they were too poor to get even a meager together or they simple hadn't tried. He sighed and continued to eat the soup, chewing around one particularly fatty chunk of beef before spitting into a rag on the table. The young genin gave his friend a look of 'told you it wasn't great' before pushing away the soup.

"Well, lucky for the village, our current situation may coincide with those bandits who keep bother you all as well. Do you have any idea how many of them there are? Are they strong? And particularly, is there any ninja with them?" Tatsu asked, doing his best to keep his voice low enough for those at the table only to hear him.

"I can't say for certain," Goichi replied, "I'm lucky enough not to have experienced their 'hospitality'." he added using air quotes in the appropriate place, "I've heard stories though. Some men say they was attacked by just a handful of guys while others tell stories of being surrounded by a few dozens of 'em. I don't know which one of them is right, maybe both, but most of the reports mention a guy or two who are able to breathe literal fire. If I were a guessing man, I'd say that would make at least a couple of them like the two of you." He explained, referencing the boys' status as shinobi.

Mitsuo sat for a moment and considered what the man had said. It seemed that depending on who you talked to, the bandit troop could be as small as 5 men or as large as several dozen. He eyed the group over in the corner again, wondering if any of them could possibly be part of the bandit group and were merely blending in to the village.

"Don't go worryin' about them now," Goichi said, noticing Mitsuo's eyes wander over to the group of men, "Them's the good guys. Part of the village militia. One or two of 'em might be a bit shady, but they've been protctin our hides for the last few months now."

"They've ben watching us since we came in," Mitsuo replied.

"Well of course!" Goichi said, "You're outsiders. Every outsider is suspicious to the militia."

"I suppose..." Mitsuo mumbled after taking a moment to consider the man's words.

From a distance, Mitsuo could see the innkeeper that they had met earlier, identified by Goichi as Meiko, approaching their table. "Excuse me, sirs." She said as she came up alongside the table, "Your room is ready for you whenever you would like to retire. I can take you there now if you would like, or you can ask one of the serving girls to bring you up at your convenience."

Mitsuo looked over at Tatsuo to see which the other boy would prefer. He would go along with whichever the boy chose.

Tatsuo listened to the information provided by the man and began to scheme things in his mind about what they may be facing. The information that there was a man who had used a breathe of the fire to attack someone began the thought line of there being missing ninja at the root of this issue. The story of being surrounded while normally being a few gave him the idea that maybe clones were being used. This would only cement the fact that there was a missing ninja involved here. He shot a worried look to Mitsuo before brushing it off. He only hoped that there were none here and that the supplies would be safe later down the road and not lost to a fire.

The explanation for the strange looks they had continued to receive since they had walked in had finally been explained and it was enough to satisfy Tatsuo as well as Mitsuo it seemed. The younger chuunin nodded his head at the innkeeper in the affirmative as he finished his soup before standing up and gathering his things. The pair would follow the innkeep to their room before they thanked her and locked the door for some sort of safety. "Do you feel comfortable sleeping here or should we sleep in a watch?" Tatsuo finally asked as he set his things down on the floor and rolled out his bedroll before placing himself atop it.

"I could feel comfortable sleeping anywhere," Mitsuo said half jokingly as he plopped down on his own bedroll. The lack of any sort of bed in the room was mildly disappointing, but it wouldn't be the first or last time that he had had to sleep on the floor. At least there's a roof, he thought to himself. "If you mean 'do i feel comfortable that those towns people down there won't go and try to slit our throats in the middle of the night', well, I can't say that I am entirely certain, no." He added. Logically, he knew that the smart move, given the resentment towards them would be to have one of them guard the door while the other slept. On the other hand, he reeeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllyyyy just wanted to sleep.

"If you really want to, I suppose one of us should guard the door just to be safe." He said finally, "But you get first watch." He added with a slight grin as he laid back on the bed. As he drifted off to sleep, he had the oddest feeling that the rest of this mission was going to be...eventful.

"Well shit, guess I'm stuck on guard duty." Tatsuo grumbled to himself as Mitsuo placed down his own bedroll before falling to sleep. He stared at his companion in envy before letting out a heavy sigh and moving his bedroll to have a clear sight of the door. A low candle burned on the lone piece of furniture in the room, a small table, and served as the only bit of light for the two shinobi.

Tatsuo continued to watch the door faithfully before the time came for the two chuunin to switch watch. He eagerly shook Mitsuo awake before crawling into his own bedroll and passing out promptly.

By the time the sun was up, the two shinobi were ready and packed to leave the small inn. Tatsuo hoisted his pack onto his back with all of his gear properly tucked away so that it wouldn't accidentally fall out of off.

"Time to go find the merchant." Tatsuo commented before the two left the inn and continued their trek to the merchant's caravan in the next village over. The journey was uninteresting as they came across no obstacles but kept there eyes out just in case they were ambushed by bandits.

"Apparently these bandits have a ninja or two with them."
Tatsuo started, "I'm not too particularly worried about ourselves but the man did mention one seemed to breath fire. We'll have to make sure we keep the caravan from catching fire and lose everything."

"Well, it looks as if we're here." Tatsuo finished as they entered through the gates of a village not much larger than the one they had stayed in the night in. It was quite easy to see which house belonged to the merchant as it was the largest and easily visible. The two began to walk up to the household, ready for the next leg of their journey.
