The sounds of your foot steps were right N'sync of the sound of the waves crashing into the shore in the distance. As you approach the cave you can heard the sound of whimpering. The dog was alive still, good, good. The cave was dark, very dark. Which made it even scarier.

Kimi's soft footsteps took him right up to the entrance of the cave, though there they stopped cold. Vivid green eyes looked into the pitch blackness before them as the mind guiding their movements brooded over the situation. How had he gotten himself into this, again? Oh right...the Swordsman thing. Ah, well...life goes on. Kimi's thoughts continued to move right merrily along, despite his calm, collected appearance, he finally securing the bag slung over one shoulder with it's own straps, so that he didn't need to constantly hold it in place. Shifting the great, wrapped blade on his back, Kimi decided that it would be best not to use Mind unless neccesary; it would at least give him a bit of much needed practice. One couldn't always rely on a sword, after all.

Breathing a near silent, but quite long suffering sigh, Kimi fished through his bag quite absently, searching for....ah, there it was. A bit low tech for a missions kit, but the unlit torch would suffice, if it became neccesary. Carrying that little tool in his right hand, Kimi focused his mind on the cave and mission ahead, reaching back into his time as an ANBU as he concentrated pinpoint amounts of chakra into his feet, raising his steps slightly above the ground, just enough to eliminate any sound as he slowly ventured into the darkness.

*Neko Hokou [Cat Walk]
D-Ranked Tajutsu
Prerequisite: ANBU Neko or former ANBU Neko
This is a technique used by Neko ANBU members. The user concentrates a bit of chakra into their feet so they can slightly walk above the ground. In doing so, they will be able to silently walk above the ground (only an inch or two though). This allows them to silently walk in order to evade most obstacles on the ground that would cause someone else to hear their movements.

As you entered the cave you could feel beads of sweat forming on your neck as the humidity increased tenfold. The air was damp, and it was hot in here. Perfect sort of place for a giant snake to live, right? The conditions would certainly have an impact on the way you fought. Energy conversation was very important when it was humid.

A hissing could be found in the distance. But the darkness was thick and a little scary. Where oh where did you go little doggie.

Kimi went on something like a cursing trip in his mind. It wasn't that he had a problem with the dark, or a problem with snakes. In fact, he was quite at home in the dark, as a result of his experiences and training, and he even found snakes rather admirable...despite the popular conceptions, he had always discovered them to be intelligent, cunning, and even rather nice to the touch. Now, spiders were another story...but that was not the point.

In a more practical turn of mind, Kimi observed his environment...relatively speaking, considering the darkness. Even someone with good eyes was at a loss when there was no light to draw in. Forcing himself away from the instinctive, all too human fear of such a situation, Kimi recognized the humidity for the danger it was. It and the sometimes chilly mists of his home were rather different, but both had their own tricks. This heated, moisture-ridden air would sap his energy as effectively as any desert sun or icy glacier.

Deciding with an internal sigh that the benefits and dangers of such an action had become neccesary, Kimi began fumbling with the torch he carried in his right hand...and, being careful to shield his eyes with his left, the torch flashed into life, having been made for less than desireable situations just such as this. Raising it high immediately, Kimi looked into the retreating darkness with eyes struggling to adapt to the new situations, even if he had protected them from the initial glare...

As the darkness was illuminated by the torch, you could see the water dripping off the roof of the cave with a soft, spat. spat. spat. as it hit the floor of the cave. In front of you the cave took a sharp right, light was indeed a wonderful thing.

The hissing was slowly getting louder and louder.

Well, that was nice. Kimi was just overjoyed by this situation. A blind right, with the hissing of what was likely a monstrous snake growing louder and louder, either closer or angrier, possibly both, past it. Well, this was the sort of thing he had signed up for, he supposed...

Kimi breathed one of his characteristic silent sighs, and began moving forward on his slightly raised, quite silent feet, not bothering to dispell the technique even though his lighting of the torch basically negated any advantage of surprise he might have had. It was still useful, in a cave such as this, where you never knew what a small bump in the floor could do to you. His eyes rapidly acclimating to the new conditions, he found his sight much more complete than before, he no longer even squinting against the glare. Unfortunately, he didn't get much more information this way than he had in the darkness. He hoped that his slow, calm turning of that sharp right corner might help his predicament...

The torch made it easier to see up close, but the distance was still very dark. At the end of the current path way, the corner was illuminated. It was clear this was the end of the cave, and your destination. The hissing had stopped at this point though. Although a strange slithering could be heard along the wall to your side.

A weak bark was made, good, good. The dog was alive. It was time to act.

Kimi had a bad feeling about that slithering. The barking of the dog was certainly a good sign, yes, but the ceasing of that hissing...the snake couldn't have left, he was confident of that. Which, as far as Kimi's mind was concerned, meant that the snake had stopped warning away the intruder, and had started stalking it's newest prey...hm. Time to switch up the positions, then. His left hand found it's way to his bag, sneaking inside of the tough material to find the weapon that, folded, would seem like a giant knife attached to a large ring...

Privately hoping that the slithering at the wall to his side was not simply a trap, Kimi turned quickly to face that sound, holding the torch specifically to illuminate the wall from which it originated, even as his left hand caught the ring it was searching for, drawing forth the deceptive weapon it was a part of but keeping it hidden behind his back...

The slithering stopped as the wall was lit. The entire cave was silent. Even the quiet spat spat had stopped. Nothing moved, except for the flame dancing calmly on the end of the torch. There was a slight breeze, and the torch blew out, dakrness encasing the cave once more. Even the light illuminating from the supposed snake hide out had gone out.

Suddenly another breeze flew from behind you, and two large green eyes peered from above you, "Welcome guesssssssssssssssst.", sounded the snake. His eyes clearly locked onto you.

Well, shit. The summary of Kimi's thoughts was not quite word for word, being rather shortened, but it sized things up nicely. Turning about to face the 'breeze', which Kimi now had the creeping suspicion of being breath, Kimi caught sight of those green eyes in the darkness. Forcing down that instinctive urge to flee without a second thought once more, he mapped out the cave in his mind. The corner was right beside him, and he was quite sure he could get around it. From there he should likely be able to catch sight of the entrance, and make for it. He shouldn't even have to worry overmuch about snags in the dark, from the condition of his feet. That mental vision fixed firmly behind his eyes, Kimimaro smiled.

"Well, hello there, my host. I suppose I could call you snake, but that would be quite impolite, now wouldn't it? Ah, well...any chance at all you could grace me with your name, perhaps throw in the specific reason for taking a dog as well?" Kimi's voice had all his calm sophistication behind it, the dry humor and aristocratic manner so rarely seen in the proud, cold young man in full swing. Of course, that didn't at all stop his left hand from tightening it's grip on the weapon he had slipped from his pack, nor did it stop Kimi from getting a somewhat more secure grip on his now unlit torch; it may not have been a lightsource any more, but that top was still quite hot and the shaft behind it rather sturdy, so why waste a potential weapon?

The eyes of the snake seemed to bob back and forth, and a small chuckle could be heard from his mouth, "I needn't tell you anything. I have the advantage. You're blind....I can see your heat..", the snake said, clearly filled with confident. His answer however, told you he wasn't poisonous. No, poisonous snakes didn't have heat sensing glands.

His tail lifted (not that you could see that) and began rubbing against the cieling. "How about you tell me...what are you doing here human? Got sssssome ssssecret agenda relating to my feast?", he inquired.

Kimi let out a small laugh, not that he felt particularly amused at the situation. "I suppose you don't need to tell me anything at that...as for what I'm doing, it is really rather simple. That dog is owned by someone, and they want it back. So, seeings how you are bit daunting to the normal person, they sent me. Not secret at all...though I suppose that their want to study you is a bit secret." Kimi smiled widely, despite the darkness that made such a movement basically useless. It was always good to keep up appearances, even when there was nobody around to see them...well, nobody that would appreciate them.

Amidst his conversational stance was a young man preparing for what he knew was a very bad situation. The snake's words were true, and he was in a bad situation. What to do, then? Why, use what he had. If he could manage to strike first, wounding or at least distracting the snake, he could get the head start he needed to get outside the cave. If he managed to piss that big monster off enough, he might even get it to follow him outside, into his element...

The large snake made a sound that seemed like a mixture of hissing and laughing. A weak bark was heard a stiff movement came from the snake. His tail fell down from the ceiling and the tip ran down Kimi's back, "Attempting to lead me on with your threats of tests and experimentation? I fear no ssssuch thing, human. You ssssshould be the one fearful...lady luck sssssseems to be on my sssside.", he said ending with another mixed chuckle.

"Yes, I suppose she is at that...but then again, Lady Luck and I have a rocky relationship. I'm sure she won't mind too very much if I go ahead and balk her. The only sad part will be that I don't get the bonus for bringing you in alive. Not too bad of a deal all in all, hm?" Kimi was rather sick of playing the waiting game, trying to come up with a way to incapacitate a giant snake with a range of techniques meant to kill. The snake likely knew of the weapon hidden behind his back, and the unlit torch in his right hand wasn't much of a tool. So...a new tactic? Well, first he had to free his hands.

To effect the neccesary change, Kimi took the quite possibly stupid move of letting go of both the torch and the Fuma, his hands racing towards the pouches at his waist even as they fell, reaching unerringly for the small, incendiary smokebombs, one for each hand. Barring bad circumstances, relatively speaking, those trained hands would whip forward, throwing the impacy triggered bombs directly at those emerald eyes above him. Whether they hit or not, of course, Kimi's feet would start carrying him back around that remembered corner, towards the light beyond the cave...

The snakes heat pits lost track of the dropped weapons, and the heat source on the ground was certainly a slight distraction. However, as two balls of heat flew towards him, instinct kicked in and his eyes snapped shut. The increased heat from the smoke bomb explosion made it more difficult to discern between simple nothings, and a human. But he was able to lock onto where Kimi was heading, and dived forward at him, in an attempt to knock him down through blunt force.

Kimi hadn't quite made it past the corner when he heard the sound of the coming snake. After all, in a generally quiet cave filled only with the occasional dripping noise, the charge of a rather massive creature stands out somewhat. Judging that he didn't have nearly as much time and space as he might have wished, Kimi threw himself to the side. While the snake still clipped his side, it's force combined with that of Kimi's movement causing him to smash against the wall with a dull sort of thud, he managed to avoid the true intent of the assault. With the dull ache in the limbs of his left side, however, Kimi wasn't pleased. He knew the pain would recede, however, and it was furious instinct that guided his actions. Kimi's hands moved with calm speed through the hand seals that would bring forth senbon of deadly compressed electricity, ones which he would hopefully launch in a single spread at the point where the sounds of that great snake came from. It was something of a race against time in an element more his enemy's than his own...

Chidori Senbon is a Lightning Element technique developed by Kimimaro. The user is able to shape the Lightning Element to form senbon. Though unstated, these needles probably take on Chidori's characteristics, including it's ability to cut through most anything which stands in its path.

The snake felt a little glimpse of success as he saw the heat source try to move out the way. No, he'd still hit. What he hadn't realized was that although it was a somewhat large cave, his fast moving body wouldn't stop in time. As he barreled past and clipped Kimi, he slammed hard into the cave wall.It was a dizzying collision, but it didn't stop and thinking quick in his situation the demonic snake began using his head to forcefully dig into the wall and escape. The light from the chidori senbon would provide a single chance to see as his tail was struck right as it vanished into the wall.


There was a brief silence until he jumped up from behind Kimi and hung over him, "Hello hhhhhuman.", he said with confidence.
