The little nymph giggled at the two, one of them was trying to be as polite as possible, probably in an attempt to win her over. And the other was trying to be intimidating.

Nice try though.

She simply giggled against, and resumed her dance around the air. "That's funny, Baka. But as long as I'm alive, those swords aren't budging. And this is my terrain. So have fun trying to get them out.", and with that, she melted into the wall, gone.

What did you do?

Kenshin had thought that reasoning with the sprite would be possible... if Satorose hadn't spoken. No sooner had the words left Satorose's lips did the small sprite woman give a witty retort of her own and phase into the walls. Kenshin couldn't help but put his palm to his face in frustration. Why, oh dear god why, did his jounin partner have to say that? Now they had to deal with an irritated fairy-freak that concealed herself in the walls instead of a reasonably placid one that was still visible.

Kenshin did his best to not look irritated with his jounin partner, failing miserably in the process. Still shooting for diplomacy, he queried the sprite again. "Are you positive that no peaceful settlement can be reached, Fairy-dono? Despite his rather... unwise choice of words, you may find that my partner and I can be quite reasonable should you give us the chance."

He awaited an answer and hoped that his partner was smart enough to keep his mouth shut this time. Kenshin didn't enjoy not having a visual on this thing, and he hoped his words would draw her back out.

Satorose stood quietly, watching his team mate trying to lure the sprite back out into the open. Yes, I'm sorry if I offended you in any way, as my Genin Partner here has said, WE can both be very reasonable if we're given the chance. Satorose stood still holding his sword over his shoulder still waiting for the sprite to reply in some way.

The nymph didn't seem to react at first. Until Satorose began talking. A blue light shot out from the wall into the water. And three small men like creatures grew from the water, and began making strange grunting and growling sounds that seemed to be communication.

Suddenly, excitement grew, and they dashed forward. With their eyes clearly set on their targets.

Kenshin had expected a fight when he came here. But he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at these things. They were possibly the oddest little creatures he had ever seen up to date. It's not that they were ugly or anything, but they certainly weren't soft on the eyes.

And they also seemed to be violent, considering the fact they were charging and all.

Kenshin made a few seals as he appeared to sink into the water below and several oily copies would spawn from the walls around them. Using this distraction, he took a short dash forward and made a quick stab at the front-most creature's kidney area before reestablishing his guard. He didn't want to leave any openings that could work against him.

The user will slowly lower themselves into a crouch while holding a handseal. Seeing this will cast a genjutsu upon any viewers. They will see the user continue to sink into the ground. At that point several dark, oily shapes will emerge from the surrounding walls, trees, or whatever there is and attack from different directions. These attacks cannot harm the viewer but may confuse them and make them feel disoriented. Meanwhile, the user of this jutsu can attack; he or she will look like a simple black shape, gliding in and out of the ground or boulders, so he or she is relatively well hidden. If any of the servants are successfully attacked it will disrupt the genjutsu and lower the post count by 1. Attacking the user, despite his or her disguise, will end the jutsu. This jutsu will last for 3 posts otherwise.

Satorose looked at the little creatures that had just grew out of what seemed like the water. 'That's weird' He thought to himself. Satorose kept his sword over his shoulder holding it with his right hand over his right shoulder, and with his left hand he reached into his weapon pouch, he quickly grabbed 4 shuriken. Throwing the four shuriken at the two creatures his partner had not attacked, two at the one on the left, and two at the one on the right. Satorose kept his watch on the little creatures wandering how they would react to his attack, but he still glanced around every now and then waiting to see if the sprite would appear once more.

The frenzied little hobbe seemed unphased by the genjutsu attack and as Kenshin dashed forward to stab at the already significantly smaller beastie, it tucked, rolled, and disappeared into the waters under them. Popping up only a few short seconds later about 20 feet behind Satorose.

Oh shit.

These beasties could swim.

Satorose's attack, on the otherhand, hadn't be a complete failure. One kunai for each stabbed into them, and they simply let out a roar of pain and rage before continuing their dash, leaping forward at Satorose.

Kenshin was now officially irritated. He couldn't confuse the beasts with genjutsu, one of his two staples. And their mastery of suiton allowed them to avoid any obvious taijutsu attacks. This meant that of all the jutsu in his arsenal, he had to hope that one of his two ninjutsu might allow him to attack. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Making a single seal and holding it, a heavy mist appeared around the being that popped up behind Satorose. With that, Kenshin quickly and quietly slipped into the mist, phasing right behind the mutant and attempting to strike the beast with a quick slash to it's back before jumping back and returning to a defensive position.

Satorose was slightly confused that the kunai had seemed to just anger them more, although he honestly thought it was funny. Putting his sword back off his back he quickly began making hand signs, Satorose shot out some small balls of fire, which had shuriken secretly hidden underneath the fire to make his attack stronger. Satorose didn't want to waste any time in defeating these little beasts.

Katon • Housenka no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Fire Element. The ninja does the necessary hand seals and then emits a series of small fire balls. The ninja can also hurl a projectile which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Meaning that even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai.

These beasties didn't have any jutsu designed for putting out fireballs, or any jutsu at all for that matter, so they simply did as their comrade had done earlier, and dove under the water, avoiding the take completely. As the mist covered the area, they popped up, slightly confused. Then dropped back in the water, those two hobbes circling under Satorose and Kenshin like sharks.

The poor hobbe that got attacked by Kenshin groaned in pain before vanishing into a group of blue sparkles in the air.

Though it cvouldn't be seen through the mist, the nymph came out from hiding, and began floating out above them, "Alllmost time for backup kiddies!", she teased.

Kenshin was certainly happy that one of his opponents had been vanquished. However, he still had other opponents to face, and the mist that had been an asset before served as a double-edged sword; his own sight was inhibited as well.

Still, he had to try to make the most of it. Closing his eyes, he listened for the sounds of water dripping and splashing, ready to strike. If he couldn't track them by sight, maybe sound would give their locations away...

(OOC: Looking at the description of the jutsu would imply that it's an area of effect technique, but the area of effect is centered around a specific opponent. This makes me think that it wouldn't hamper your ability to see. Only I would be affected since I'm in the mist cloud.)

IC: Satorose walked a few steps farther away from the Mist, he didn't want to get caught up in the mist like Kenshin, because then they would both be blind. Satorose looked through the water underneath himself and found both of the little beasties circling around the area like sharks getting ready to attack. So Satorose stood there waiting, although he didn't just stare at the little beasts in the water, he glanced here and there to make sure there wasn't any surprise attacks from any of the other directions.

"Times up!", the little nymph shouted in excitement. She began circling above them, and shot out a blue orb. When the blue orb hit the water, a flash of light, and then three more little beasties appeared.

"Fun fun!", she chimed as she continued to circle.

As the mist dispelled, Kenshin turned around. He could see the blue nymph shoot out some weird energy from her hand as even more of the little hobgoblins popped up.

Great. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Kenshin was starting to think that this would go on forever, but then he remembered something: Kenshin's attack had missed the first time, but Satorose's shuriken had hit on the first try. Also, these guys had a mastery of suiton. They were in a dark cave where there was very little light.

Might these little buggers be using touch to sense their positions?

Kenshin decided to test his theory out. Pulling a few shuriken from his pack, Kenshin shot them at the two creatures directly in front of him. If this worked, it could open up quite a few strategies...

As Satorose saw the little nymph make more little beasties he was quiet confused. He saw Kenshin attack two of the little beasts, but that still left one, throwing one of his own shuriken at the beast he through it right at it's head going for the quick kill. Not wanting to take his attention off the things swimming in the water for too long Satorose glanced down back at them to see what they were doing. He continued to glance back and forth waiting to see which set of beasties would attack first.

All the hits made contact, not that it stopped them, no, it didn't stop them at all. They rushed forward, the blood trickling down their bodies, but they kept going. Two of them leaped towards Kenshin, spit flying out their mouths as they roared.

The attack seemed to signal the two swimming, because they jumped out, at Satorose, with the last remaining beastie diving underwater, and resuming these swimming patterns.

Kenshin was pleased. He now knew that these guys were touch-sensitive and searched for them via the vibrations in the water. With this in mind, he planned his next move carefully. Keeping his lower body completely motionless, he pulled out a kunai from his pack and held it up in a guard, ready to fend off one of the two beasties. He then held his rapier straight out, perpendicular with his body. If these buggers were as instinct-based as he thought they were, the only contact they'd be making would be with the ends of his blades.

Satorose saw his teammate literally standing there just waiting for them to get close to him, at first it seemed to confuse Satorose as to what his ally was doing, but then it dawned on him! The little beasties didn't attack until they attacked first, they were either blind or almost blind! It made sense after all, Satorose watched as the two beasts jumped out of the water at him one from his left, and one from his right. He quickly jumped back a pace and swung his HUGE sword at both of them hoping to cut them in half... He quickly jumped back another pace glancing down at the beast swimming in the water.

When Kenshin held out his swords, the beasties simply moved over past it, and slashed at both his sides with their claws. Was it really this difficult? The ones that Satorose had attempted at slashing also did the same. No intelligent being would willingly let themselves be cut in half.

They stood facing Satorose, standing on all fours, watching him intently.
