"Ugh, I can't believe it's up to me. Testing you two, I mean." Raito said, a cigarette pressed between his lips. He'd been a Chunin for the past six years, and the only reason he hadn't been promoted was the fact that he was good at testing the younger shinobi. His skillset and personality put him at ease, and he looked up at the other people in the boat. The vessel was a large row boat, large enough to suit twenty-three people. Needless to say, there were twenty Jounin in the boat, as well as himself and the two genin he would be testing that day. They were two famous, young upstarts in the village, a boy from the Kaguya clan that had proved himself a powerhouse, and the Jinchuuriki of the body genma. It went without saying that Raito Kenshin found himself excited at the thought of the coming fight, but he wasn't going to let it show. "I heard about you two and how you've been helping the village and developing yourselves. I knew they were going to send you my way."
He looked at the numerous, stern-faced Jounin who were sitting all around the boat. He knew why they were coming today. A jinchuuriki going outside of the village, however briefly and however far, required an escort, and Kirigakure was taking no chances. They were rowing out to an island not far from the main island of Kirigakure. The island was small, slightly remote, and was the perfect battleground. Through the mist that loomed over them, they could see the rising sun, signalling the start of a new day, and a new beginning for the two Genin, win or lose. He shot Katsu an amused look and found himself smiling. When he had been her age, he'd often wanted to streak across the village, and there she was getting to do it, free as you please. "On this island, neither if you need fear going all out, and the Jounin are here to subdue you if the Genma gets too out of hand, Katsu. I want to see all you two've got, the summary of your training. This is an important day, don't think I'm going easy on either of you. And hey, you're the two safest people in Kirigakure at the moment thanks to my stronger friends, here."
Ten minutes later, they were touching land, and Raito exited the boat first, gesturing for the two Genin to follow him. Fourteen of the Jounin filed in behind them, and they walked a quarter of a mile into the island's center. It was enough distance to ensure the footing would be plain, even grass. There were no trees, and as Raito turned to face the two Genin, he found himself smiling. "I, Raito D. Kenshin, Chunin of Kirigakure and proctor in good standing, do hereby commence the Chunin exam for Kaguya, Sentou and Artemisu, Katsu." he backed up, expecting them to do the same, until they were thirty-five yards apart. "Ready or not, give me hell." he said, cupping his hands in preparation for hand seals, but giving them the first move.

From the moment the two stepped onto the boat, Sentou was observing the man he was sure would be their combat test. He looked for weapons, scars, bandages, burn marks, odd twitches or movements - anything that could help them in this fight. It was at times like this that he wished he had just buckled down and worked on his raiton techniques. But for now, that could not be an issue.
They stepped off the boat and followed the man into the woods, where they then found themselves in a clearing. Sentou stepped to where he was supposed to be, and looked around. Terrain. His opponent went to make a move, and Sentou didn't stop him. He wanted to watch. But then he didn't move. He was waiting, too. Waiting for the newbies to make a move. Normally, he might just rush in, but not this time. He needed to wait. He had to save his chakra for the right time.
"Go for it. Do something fancy, I'll jump in when I find something useful." He said to Katsu, knowing she could take much more than he could. They would have to work together to beat this ninja.

With that came more chances to pit herself against the world's dangers. Pit herself against the world, and prove she was the big bitch in charge, the alpha predator of all life.

His hands moved with astounding speed, forming hand seals as the girl closed the distance. Thirty five yards...that was around a hundred feet. Just enough time for what he needed. As he lifted his arm up, it revealed a hole in the center of his palm. He aimed his arm at an angle, and out of the holes came an odd gel. It hit a wide, ten yard area in front of Katsu, and immediately, the area erupted into a terrible fire that seemed to have the heat of an A-rank. Using the obvious distraction this would cause, he jumped back and did several more hand-seals. Water spewed from his mouth, making the ground for several yards around him soggy. He paused for a moment to ascertain what the two would be doing. Raito's hands were at the ready, more hand seals ready to be performed with his astounding speed. Perhaps it wouldn't be the easy battle they thought.

After performing the needed series of hand seals, the holes on each of Raito's hands will open, allowing for Napalm gel to be expelled from his hands. This jutsu is one of a series on Raito's napalm skill tree, and the napalm will instantly catch on fire when contact is made with anything solid, but make no explosion in the process. The flames will, however, fan up and be about four feet tall for three posts, and slowly fizzle out. There is enough napalm to spray a ten yard area.

Reaction, instinct, primal urge. Katsu leaped into the air, above the incoming strike. The fire licked at her paws before they were replaced. Talons and wings sprouted from her form as she soared into the skies. From the aye the raptor's eye looked down, gauging her target with a scrutinizing eye. His sight was on her, good. She flew, up and over. She tried to place herself on the other side of him, soaring through the skies still. When the time was right she would strike, she just needed to wait for the perfect time.

A few more quick hand seals were formed, and six moderately sized orbs of acid began to swirl around him. Approaching him by foot or in the air would prove deadly. For now he waited, arms ready to form more hand seals if need be.

After performing the needed series of hand seals, and being in direct contact with a body of water, the user focuses their chakra through it and converts the water into a festering body of acid. The immediate two feet around the user in a circular fashion will remain normal water.

The user creates multiple (up to six) projectiles of acid, then allows them to orbit routinely around him, creating a mobile acid barrier. Essentially no different than its precedent technique, this technique instead adds elements of utility and versatility, allowing the orbit to function as a defensive means of discouraging physical combat as well as providing instant means of offenses should the need arise. With practice, the user should be able to manipulate individually each projectile simultaneously, adding greater depth to the technique. These projectiles have only suggested form, as neither blades nor bluntness genuinely matter when your weapons are made of acid. The projectiles can take up about the same amount of space as a kunai.

The acrid smell rose into the skies. Something was wrong, and it caused her to focus back on Raito. What she saw both scared and excited her. Even getting close to this person was dangerous, indeed the land itself festured and boiled, releasing the smell of burning, but not from flames. What it was she knew not, but there were three orbs flwoing around his head, each of which dangerous to the touch, or so she assumed. This fight would have to be won, but how?
Finally she had an idea. The area, she scanned the surrounding area for anything she could use. Sadly, there was nothing, until something came to mind. Katsu flew back overhead, flying in the direction they originally came from. Flying near Sentou she shifted, back into the great cat. From there she sprinted, trying to cover the distance as fast as possible, sprinting with every ounce of force.

Sentou needed only a moment to realize what Katsu was about to do, but there was a flaw in the planning. She had one shot with the boat, and the man could easily just dodge, ruining their shot. No, Sentou needed to do something to prevent that. He was comfortable in his ability to regenerate from most damage, such as that he was about to feel. He gave Katsu a moment to get closer to the boat, thinking through how long it would take her to get back with the boat in tow. After breathing and taking a moment to calm himself, closing his eyes and focusing on sound. Sentou began walking toward the flames, taking off his backpack and katana, holding them in his right hand while pulling off his hoodie and undershirt, discarding them to the side and reslinging his katana. He made a string of hand seals before going into his backpack, making the protective jutsu go to work within his body.
He pulled out his chain, then discarded the pack. Reaching into his belt, he pulled out his breathing apparatus to keep his lungs safe from the toxic fumes, and two flashbombs. He crouched low, pinpointing everything he could based on sound alone, and then bolted to the side, throwing the flashbomb through the smoke so that it would detonate on impact. The chain began spinning above his head as he ran around the flame, knowing he was about to feel a lot of pain. His sandals would last only a moment as they melted from his feet, followed quickly by the skin, but by the time his feet were being burned, he would be upon the hopefully blind ninja, with the chain swinging overhead. No doubt by now there would be some noise indicating where the man was, allowing him to bring the chain around one more time, this time lower so as to wrap around the man. The pain of the melting skin was more than a light distraction, but as long as he kept his movements simple, he should be fine.

After closing his eyes and devoting most of his brain's sensory perception to his ears for a full post, the user is able to detect fainter sounds. This allows him to detect the faintest of sounds that an opponent makes, pinpointing the location. Even something as soft as a blade slicing through the air will be detected, and can be reacted to. This increases the user's Taijutsu by 1, but cannot be used with other sense enhancing techniques, and makes the user's ears more sensitive to loud noises.

When an opponent attempts to attack a place on the body which is naturally close to already present bones, the user will channel chakra to that area and form hand seals, causing the surrounding bones to spread out to cover the area along the interior of the body in preparation of the strike. The downside to this technique is that the skin is still very vulnerable to the attack, allowing bruising and slashing to still effect him.

The bones will then grow out, penetrating the skin slightly before retracting again. This activates the Kaguya’s natural ability to mend skin broken by their techniques, healing the area relatively quickly, based on the size of the wound. This technique only works on the user’s feet.

What the pair were doing was something that typically happened during Kirigakure Chunin exams. The two Genins were wanting to each test their strength against him, without even realizing it. That made Raito smile, because he doubted that one of them would be able to take him on. The bestial duo would eventually overpower him due to numbers and the fact that they were both powerful for their rank, but it wasn't going to be easy for them, and he sure wasn't going to allow it to be easy. He saw two bombs coming his way, and they weren't aimed directly at him. Two thoughts came to Raito's mind. "Flash, or smoke."
The mild explosion rang, and light flooded his vision. Blinding light. He had to remain composed. This would be exactly what the young Kaguya would want. Sentou wouldn't get a hit in that easily. His hands, still together, formed hand seals through the disorientation. With blinding speed, he began spinning around above his little safe haven of water. The mild explosion rang, and light flooded his vision. Blinding light. He had to remain composed. This would be exactly what the young Kaguya would want. Sentou wouldn't get a hit in that easily. His hands, still together, formed hand seals through the disorientation. With blinding speed, he began spinning around above his little safe haven of water. Sentou heard hands coming together. He counted them as he moved, keeping track of where the sound was, and lunging toward it while swinging the chain. He could not tell what the jutsu would be, but if he could get close enough to disrupt the ninja's jutsu, and keep him occupied while Katsu came back, it wouldn't matter. If the chain hit, or even if it didn't, Sentou would attempt to get within striking range and rip out his katana, trying to slash across the man's chest.

He heard a chain coming towards him. The world's color was starting to flood back to him, and Raito screamed. "NOT YET!" he roared, jumping back with all the speed he could muster into the acid. A series of three hand seals were performed, and a light blue glow would cover his feet and heels. "You're the second person to try that trick on me, kid. I'll admit that it's impressive that you managed to weave through the acid, you must have an amazing pain tolerance...let's see how long that lasts. Come and get me." he challenged. His hands moved fast again, and it'd work to his advantage if he tried to lunge right now, because he spat a large glob of acid out of his mouth. If Sentou moved in close, it would definitely hit. If not, then it still had a chance, but the main point of the glob was to keep the boy away from him. And there was still the wild card of Katsu, out there, somewhere, doing something.

The man jumped, he could hear it. Then more seals. Then more. A brief pause between. Two techniques. He kicked toward the sound of the hand seals, sending five bone senbon out of his foot. He didn't need the stability, as the bone had already encased the inside of his foot. It hurt, of course, but his feet were already in so much pain they were almost numb. While the man would be focusing on the attack, Sentou threw the second flash bomb at the ground. His feet cried out as they kept healing, draining his chakra. He didn't have much longer in this sprint of offense, but hopefully Katsu would come soon.
He hurled the chain, then heard the man spit. An attack. Sentou knew he would be ripped apart in moments, but he had to keep pressing and buying time for Katsu to get there. He dove, rolled, and kept going, feeling the skin sizzle and quickly heal from the momentary exposure to the acid. It had not slowed him down much at all. He dove, reaching for where he knew the man would be based on sound alone. He was tired, and couldn't do much if he caught the man, but maybe he could at least keep him from unleashing any more ninjutsu.

A simple evasive technique used when attempting to close distance to an opponent, Tuck and Roll allows the user to maintain forward velocity while evading effectively. When an attack is launched from an opponent, the user will quickly calculate where it is aimed, then dive to a diagonal to avoid the attack. The user will dive so that his body is parallel to the ground for a moment to cover distance before planting his hands on the ground and tucking his head to his chest, curling up as the momentum carries him through the roll and back to his feet so that he can continue his advance.
Calloused Skin

Because of the time he devotes to the study of taijutsu and using his hands to fight, the user's palms and fingers have become calloused, with extra skin being built up over time. This skin is thicker and tougher than normal skin, and is actually capable of resisting blows from weaponry. If Raito paid attention he would notice a truly odd sight. Katsu had grabbed the ropes holding the boat to the shore, and was now dragging it behind her, a bitch running full sprint with the ropes in teeth. Her paws pounded at the dirt until she reached the edge of the flames. There she stopped, once again shifting her form. As the mighty ape she grabbed the ropes and lashed the boat around hard, aiming to smash it into him full force. Hopefully this worked, and she would leave him lying flat on the ground, open pray.

Between the two of them, Raito was trapped. "Damn." he cursed, as the flashbang once again blinded him, and Sentou attempted to subdue him. The boy was strong, but not as strong as him, and he struggled, roaring and wrestling with the young Kaguya in a blind fury. Taijutsu wasn't something he preferred, but years of fighting taijutsu specialists had made his muscles grow hard and increased his stamina greatly. Eventually, he tossed the Kaguya away. Clear of the napalm and acid, as a matter of fact.
"Oh, fuck me." he said in a dead, flat voice as his vision and hearing returned from the flash explosion. Katsu was upon him, swinging the ropes that were kept around their rowboat. As the boat made its way towards him, and indeed as he tried to dodge, he yelled, "KATSU! N-" and the boat was upon him, slamming into the Chunin full force. He was knocked back several feet, to say the least. He lay there on the ground for a few moments, and one of the Jounin went to check on him. As they reached down, a bandaged hand reached up to smack them away. "No!" Raito growled.
The chunin stood up, and calmly began walking towards the pair. The fight would be momentarily stopped, it seemed. How Raito was walking was anyone's guess. He probably had several broken bones, to say the least, and had no right to be on his feet. "Katsu, I ought to fail you right now." he barked, pulling out a cigarette and lighting the tobacco up with a zippo lighter. "That boat is our ride out of here, and you weren't thinking. A shinobi thinks of his comrades above all else, and if I hadn't happened to have thrown Sentou away, he could have been seriously injured. That was not the behavior of a Chunin. But...no one can doubt your strength. The samurai of the crane country say that you can tell more about a man in a three minute spar than a half-hour conversation. Sentou, I can safely say that you aren't playing second fiddle to Katsu." despite his anger, he managed a smile for the Kaguya.
"However...now I have to get serious. I want both of you to come at me at once. Don't gawk and say I'm weakened. All you did was piss me off." he readied his hands again, seals eager to be formed as he paced towards the two.

He caught the man! But it would not last long. He curled his fingers down and forced the bones through the tips, aiming to dig them into the man's skin to keep a better grip. If he could accomplish that, he would make the radii of his arms shoot through his palms, followed by his shin bones. He aimed everything for the man's chest and back, hoping this would be enough to keep hold of the man for a little longer, and cause some pain. He saw Katsu running in and preparing to hurl the boat, and braced himself, knowing it would hurt like hell, but also knowing that he could heal from it.

He had burned through a lot of his chakra already, but he had learned a lot about this man, and that had been his purpose, if not to destroy him. He straightened, letting his bones crack, and releasing the chakra that would heal his skin. He had about half a tank left, but it should be enough.

Vorashu was right. This man couldn't compare to her strength, her power. He was weak and didn't deserve to continue in this world. Natural selection had chosen her and Sentou. A grim smile spread across her face.
"To hell with your fucking rules."
In a flash of primal power Katsu released Vorashu's might, merging her mind with his own. The lucid green orbs of the phantom beast replaced her own. The cloak formed, her horns grew. Vorashu's might augmented her own, the primal surge pumping through her like a coursing river. His influence consumed her own, no it enhanced her own. Katsu was alpha.
"Strike, beastia."
The words rang through in his voice, but through her lips. The command was heeded. She wasted no time, moving lighting quick and shifting. The great cat once more, but altered. Raito breathed heavily, resolving to continue this fight. As he prepared to break into a run, however, he heard her say something that, well, wasn't exactly the smartest thing for her to say. "Fuck your rules." he heard Katsu roar. And then, she transformed into the first form of her Genma. A serious light spread into Raito's eyes, and he gave a signal to the Jounins. With more speed than they should have been able to manage, the Jounins rushed the girl, forming into a tight circle around her. "I'm sorry," Raito said, stepping forward, "But that last comment has made me draw some conclusions." After the token Jounin medic was brought in to ensure both Katsu and Sentou were fine.
The boat, despite Katsu slamming it into Raito, was still functional, and the Chuunin sat near the front of the it, smoking a cigarette as they rowed back to the mainland.
Finally, the silence was broken as Raito looked up at the two.
"I've made my judgement. Do either of you have any comments before I tell you both the results of your Chuunin Exam? And just allow me to say that you both are two of the finest Genin of your generation, again. No matter the judgement, know that." he asked, surprisingly stern.

The man ended it, though, and began asking them about their thoughts. Sentou had had time to process while everything else was going on, so he spoke first.
"I think we worked together really well, drawing upon our chemistry to communicate without really saying much. My ability to distract you was somewhat effective, I suppose, and you sustained injuries that would have allowed us to defeat you had you truly been an enemy, even though your fighting style is an almost perfect counter to ours. I think we adjusted well, all things considered. I believe Katsu's rash actions at the end reflected, however, that perhaps our squad is not yet ready to advance in the ranks. That is, of course, your call." He finished, looking at the man in the eye. He was not afraid. They might not progress, but this had been a learning experience that he would not let go to waste. He was already planning to better himself from the process.

Whisper of the beast
Katsu bulked, a mad grin crossing her face. These were nothing but her next meal. 20 of them, all ripe for the slaughter. The had intercepted her from her target, her kill, and now they wished to subdue her. A fatal mistake. She would slaughter them all, or die trying.
Wait, no. That wasn't right. She couldn't take them all on. They were jounin of the village, extremely skilled in their own right. They outnumbered her 20 to 1, and they were at least her level in raw lethality. No, she couldn't push forward, it was too dangerous, and it wasn't the purpose. This was a spar, not a death match.
"I see you've not lost your thoughts to madness. A second longer and your death would be nigh and I'll not be erased so quickly."
Katsu reclaimed her mind, forcing herself to banish the wrath, the building rage of battle. Vorashu was there, assisting her. His calm, his power, kept her from striking forth. His voice chastised her from nearly doing it.
Finally she reclaimed her sanity, bringing herself back around and letting the primal instincts take a back seat, if only for a split second. When she looked she saw Sentou nearly gone, he had taken a beating. A look of extreme concern crossed her face, betraying her worry. When her eyes scanned across Raito she saw him standing, bones still in his arms and legs. With the cloak still glowing bright, but Vorashu and Katsu of same mind, she nodded to the jounin and stepped through, toward's Raito.
"Worry about yourself. This wasn't a true hunt so there's no need for you to die."
Katsu listened to a recovering Sentou as she tended to Raito's wounds personally. She was no medic but she knew what didn't belong were and knew how to clean a wound. Sentou was right, she had acted rash at the end, but she wouldn't appologize for it. She did was nature intended, letting primal action rule her hand and mouth. The end goal was never forgotten, just the limits she was within.
"Sentou is right and I'll admit to pushing the limit. I saw Sentou drop. It was my job to either take you down or distract you long enough to let him get out. He would have done the same too me, and in a fight where death is on the line, even a spar, there are no rules. Just the end goal."
Vorashu spoke through her mouth at this point, speaking to Katsu more than anyone else.
"Calm words coming from a feral beast."

Raito took a few more drags off of his cigarette as he listened to them both. He was quite happy that both of them showed that they cared about this, it was a step in the right direction. Sentou's rather obvious display of reverse psychology would work, for him at least. He stood himself up, looking at Katsu. Without the slightest idea of what he was doing, he echoed the first part of the last thing Vorashu had said to her. "Calm words."
"Katsu, I understand that you must be allowed freedom to utilize your special abilities as best you can, but you can't allow him to rule over you and shape your personality. If you were a true alpha, you wouldn't have needed to use the Genma. To sum it up so that you can tune me out after this, you FAILED. As I said, you have incredible potential. One day, you could possibly surpass any Mizukage to have ever ruled over this village. But...as it stands, I don't feel you understand how to work within mission parameters. On an A-rank mission..." his voice trailed off as he undid his jacket and undid the buttons of his shirt. Underneath, a long scar snaked up his chest, and the Chuunin looked off into the distance for a few moments, as if lost in thought.
"...thinking outside the box and spitting in the face of orders is a double edged sword. And in this case, if you'd broken our boat, we would've been stranded there for hours until help could arrive. I'm sorry, and I'll personally see to your next exam." He nodded, and turned to Sentou. "You performed admirably, Sentou. You provided a distraction for Katsu's...tactic, which again was not the reason she failed, and fighting you was fun. There aren't many genin who could wade through acid and napalm. It is my judgement that Kaguya, Sentou shall be the newest Chuunin of Kirigakure no Sato." he nodded, and one of the Jounin stepped forward, a Chuunin jacket in his hand. "You have PASSED this exam, and I hope to see your further prosperity and advancement."
They reached Kirigakure a hour or so after that conversation. Raito and the Jounins left soon after reaching port to make a report to the Mizukage and the council.
